This Restaurant is classified in the category of Indian restaurant.
I used them frequently the last 1.5 years, about once every quarter. I loved their naan and Dal Makhani. I assume that the chef (and maybe owner) changed. Last time, about 3 weeks ago, the great Indian taste was gone. too much cream, the naan bread also had a shallow taste. Having that said I compare them to their former standard. Which was high. Will try another Indian place in PEI now.
Great food!
Very good food at a fair price. Can never go wrong with a the butter chicken Combo from here. Beautifully designed interior along with friendly and accommodating staff makes for an enjoyable experience. Would recommend.
Best Indian food in the area.
Always excellent! There is no wheelchair access and the washrooms are down three steps. However, the food is always excellent.
Food is good but service is really bad, no politeness neither smile greeting
The food was pretty good but it took a while to arrive and even get our order taken. Our server wasn’t the best either, we didn’t feel like she wanted us there at all. Good decoration.
What a great feast! New taste experience.
Complex spices in the dishes. So tasty!
Surprisingly good Indian food. Did not expect in Charlottetown.
Nice & Clean, good customer service, taste is not bad, but some area need improvement. Serving should be bit bigger, dishes size are bit smaller as compared to prices.
Delicious food and great customer service
It was our first time it was so yummm....????????
We had food here today, it was excellent. I will suggest it a must go to place while visiting PEI if you are a food lover and craving for good Indian food.
Very good restaurant Good variety of dishes
Tasty food but atmosphere lacking
We went there today ! And i order butter chicken with rice ! And I always order butter chicken there but this time taste was salty and i asked manager to change it and i got replaced and still taste was disgusting and was so watery i am assumed that they just added water in butter chicken to make it taste balanced! And then manager came to me and said that she gonna removed amounts from my bill ! But this is not about money ,thing is this not something we want we were there for good food and expecting good service! Do not go there if you can not wait 1 hr because we waited almost 1hr for just to get starter!
Great Ambiance Superb service The food was exceptionally good. Really had a great time dining at this restaurant.
Best Indian cuisine in the city. Way better than himalaya.
Love the food here. So fresh and tasty.
Went with my family. We were seated for almost 20min nobody asked for even glass of water. Nobody came to take our order. All the servers just looked at us and walked away.. very poor customer service. Very bad experience.. left without eating..
My favorite Indian restaurant in Canada hands down, and I have moved everywhere. Very authentic. The samosas are to die for. Highly recommend this
Great place to have authentic indian food. Recommended
I have got no words to explain how tasty the food is, its beyond delicious. Been to many Indian restaurants but mostly every dish with gravy tastes the same unlike this particular restaurant. Chicken is always well cooked, its never too dry or over cooked. For people visiting for the first time do try Kadahi Paneer and Punjabi chicken.
We had a hearty and flavorful vegetarian meal at this new Taste of India restaurant. The place has a nice ambience with great service and food. The restaurant is spacious and lots of room for large families. The spice level is customized to your taste and food is served piping hot. We had just arrived in town after a long drive and dining here was a perfect way to start our PEI vacation. A+
Nice indian food
Good food, very quick, efficient and friendly service.
Everything was excellent!!! I will go back!
Food tastes good but quantity is too little for the price
Best food in Prince Edward Island. There are very few Indian restaurant in PEI and this one is best among all. Tasty food and amazing place to dine-in. Sometimes place is very busy so better call and reserve before going in.
I had the best lamb vindaloo I've ever had at Taste of India. The service was excellent and the food to die for. If you like authentic Indian food, this is the place to go in Charlottetown.
I love this place. It's just amazing
Best curry in years
Best butter chicken I've ever had and the naan is really good too. Highly recommend
Terrific food and service!! Amazing. A must stop in Charlottetown.
The food was delicious, but I found it to be a little overpriced. That could be the island pricing though, as aI am used to a big city Indian restaurant pricing! The service was prompt and friendly. For appies we got veggie samosa and chicken packers. Both were tasty. We got palak paneer, lamb korma, beef karahi and butter chicken with rice and garlic naan. All the food was spiced perfectly. I would definitely go there again.
Wonderful Indian food and lovely servers!
We visited yesterday around 9 pm with the table of 8 people, and the welcome was very amazing very friendly staff as usual, then we started with the appetizer (Amritsari fish and samosas) which were very yummy and then we order the main course, in main course we got DAAL MAKHNI, KADAHI PANEER and PUNJABI CHICKEN but the taste was not that good as it used to be because i visit you guys very often and i’m familiar with the taste of the curries specially DAAL MAKHNI AND KADAHI PANNER, The taste of the kadahi paneer is bit sour then regular and even the daal’s texture is not good as regular, Even the Punjabi chicken was not good in taste IS YOUR CHEF CHANGE? Because the curry quality is not good as regular on the other-side NAAN was really good and soft..!! 3 stars is for Jane (Server) and for naans..!!!
Been going there for a while everything is good and excellent other then the tableware being always uncleaned. Have to always ask for another plate or a cup but brings the same ones that we sent back, other then that the food are always good and the service are good also! Just look about for dirty table wares!
Great food, good and friendly staff. If you want good Indian food you need to visit here.
Finally some halal lamb desi food options available on PEI. Taste is good, tried the biryani and it was really good. You will definitely enjoy the food options if you have never tried desi food. Quantity of food can be increased. As a brown man who loves biryani, I can easily eat 2 orders myself LOOOL. So that would be the only thing I'd recommend the owners to do.
The food was good, but could have been a little hotter(temperature), the naan was cold. However we will return.
lovely food, lovely staff, relaxing setting for family or business meals. recommended!
Great food
Our waitress (Nancy) was very friendly and accommodating. Food was very flavourful and portion size was quite generous. I highly recommend eating here. And recommend going "double hot" as it's not super spicey but a nice moderate heat.
Great food. Slightly slower for food preparation, but it’s worth it. Hot definitely means hot!
I always liked their food. But ordered today Aloo tikki chat and worst experience ever. Tikki was only flour and aloo, no spices in it and was not even cooked properly. Chutney was hell sour that I could not even eat it.
Food was truly good but lack the authentic indian taste.......
A restaurant serving typical North Indian dishes and caters to Indian taste buds in the city.
i ordered cholle batura for pick up on their so call3d sunday special , the baturas were not made nicely , it was very bad experience today . would suggest to go for other menu items other then channa masala or this same order. also i waited for 30mins for order .
Wonderful flavorful curries. Delicious naan bread. The coconut and honey one is a delightful shared dessert!
Loved the food, Service and everything about the restaurant. Takeout containers are also great - I know this is not a huge thing to mention but if we see the overall quality and the effort restaurant trying to make to do something better than what everyone is doing. Also, I don't know the owners personally but this restaurant is the second restaurant in Canada that i liked in 4 years. I will surely visit again and recommend others who never tried Indian to go there and try the Indian food for the first time to have an authentic Indian food taste and the experience.
Good food traditional Indian cuisine.
Good service, tasty and fresh but lunch special at 13$ for 4 small pieces of chicken and white rice...not very impressive
Terrible customer service, not very nice , pretty good food but took a long time. Way too expensive.
Dishes were very ordinary and so was the taste. Price wise... slightly expensive
Food was average but customer service was not good at all. Girl who served us, never came back to see if we need something else.Even i have to go to front counter to pay as noboday came to ask after serving the food. Expensive and less quantity.
This was honestly one of the most disappointing experiences I have had eating in Charlottetown and that says something. There was NO ONE to be found to seat us when we walked in and I knew we should have walked out then. After a few minutes someone finally shows up to seat us. The service was terrible and slow and we barely saw our waitress. Let me put it like this. When we were annoyed and asked for our check after we ate she said "whoa did you want more water?" NO I DON'T WANT WATER WHEN I AM LEAVING. I wanted freaking water when I was eating the food that was so freaking salty it felt like the gravy was made out of sea water and the rice was cooked in sea water. People who came in after us and who ordered after us all got their food before us. Our food came out 7-ish minutes after theirs. We had one chef special lamb medium spicy and my wife wasn't feeling well so she had butter naan and some rice. It wasn't like we had a difficult order. We were getting ready to stand up and leave when our food arrived. We decided we would just stay and give it a try and then we were informed that the reason our food was late was because they had a party of 15 come in sometime AFTER us and they got their food first. Are you freaking kidding me?Seriously? Now lets talk about the food. The food was extremely disappointing. The rice was only edible with the gravy from my food. The rice was rubbery, chewy, and extremely salty. The naan was cut into 4 small pieces to disguise the fact that it was tiny. The naan also tastes like the Walmart naan you can get in the bakery. My chef special was not spicy. There was some spicy but normally I get a 7 at Indian restaurants because that is a comfortable level where I'm not sweating excessively like what happens at a 10. Here a 7 is really a 2. The flavors were very unbalanced and there was way too much salt. It's like they put an entire salt shakers worth of salt in everything. They really skimped on the vegetables. There was really only lamb and peas in the gravy. I had 1 piece of potato, 2 small gangly pieces of cauliflower, and like 4 small pieces of bell pepper. If that was the chef's specialty then may whatever deity you do or don't believe in have mercy on our souls. A chef is supposed to maintain quality and integrity of the food. That is why people will pay more for food prepared with a chef in the kitchen. It blows my mind that he let that food come out of his kitchen and can't for the life of him have a low ticket time and manage the order the food is supposed to be served. Great job chef. A plus. Finally we come to price. The waitress said and I quote "Would you like naan or rice?" When we get the bill guess what? The rice was an add on and I paid for it. I have been to a metric butt-load of Indian restaurants and some way fancier than this one and I have never had to pay for the rice or naan that comes with the meal. So not only did I get one of the most expensive items on the menu and gladly paid it because it was the chef's specialty... I had to pay for what should have been free. So for my final thoughts and the TLDR;... don't bother coming here it's a waste of time and money. Unless you like paying a good chunk of change for disappointment. If you are into disappointment then you will LOVE this place. Food was sub-par, service was terrible, and they overcharge. Go somewhere else. As a side note I feel that it isn't that authentic based on my experience with all of the Indian home cooked meals I've had from neighbors and friends. This closer to white people authentic because that seems to be their target demographic.
It was very good. Thank you taste of India for the delicious food.
Great indian food and friendly service. We loved the restaurant atmosphere there. Will be back sure
We eat here once a week and are never disappointed. The food quality is amazing and authentic. The cooks will always work with you for the perfect spice level.
I gave 5 star for food but front staff need to be more professional and service need to be improved because they didn’t check table after they serve the food..
Amazing food great experience!!
The quantity was really less.. not worth the money at all. Moreover the service was very poor too. We waited way too long for food and for just refill of water. I was highly disappointed by the way they portioned the food. I have been to a lot of indian restaurants but this was no where near taste of india we are not cheap in india.. we serve people like kings. But this is ridiculous!!
Excellent food and service.
Best authentic Indian food
Food was exceptional! Our host was friendly and helpful.
Good food. Would go again.
This restaurent very clean and ambience is good. We enjoyed tasty punjabi food, friendly service by staff.
My family enjoy the meal but it was not as good as mention in the comments.
I went from SJ New Brunswick to PEI to have lunch here. The ambiance was nice, staff was great, food was good as well. Palak Paneer was great, lamb bhuna was good, Daal Makhni and Punjabi daal that I ordered were exactly the same they just added makhan (butter) to make it daal makhni, Lol. Overall me and my family enjoyed
So delicious! Great service! A must!
Less quantity while ordering for take out than dine inn
Love this place! Always good recommendations and lovely staff!
Always great service with amazing food.
Excellent food .. we went yesterday . The place is nice . But not the quite dine in experience. The table next to us made sure we get to hear enough chaos n loud talks .
Great place for induan food
The food is a little on the priciernside, but well worth it! The atmosphere, service, and food are all fantastic!
I went to this restaurant today as my first visit in Charlottetown. I am writing this review after spending all evening vomitting what I ate there. In terms of the restaurant itself, it didn’t look clean and had a weird odor. I would never ever go back there and do not recommend unless you have a tough stomach.
Great, Awesome food!!!!!! And great place but have to wait a lot. Staff is friendly and great!. And most important guests feel safe.
Very clean kitchen, great food and good rates!
had a great time with family , great ambience , food was delicious and staff was up to the mark. A perfect weekend place .
not bad indian food
Best food in town for a vegetarian person, firstly I gave 1 star when you guys started but now I can say, you have the best chefs
Best food in PEI, lots of flavour and authentically delicious! I felt relieved to have finally found a place that knows how to cook in the province.
Delicious food and great Service. Excellent facility. Was not expecting this outside Toronto which is home of Punjabi/Indian food.
I got three spoons of Gajar da halwa for 6$. Speechless...
Ordered 3 poutines. Usually taste good but this time the fries were cold qnd the quantity was less than half the usual . I get it if its rush hour but I expected better than this
Very good food, small portions at a relatively high price.
If you are looking for great taste of indian food this is one. Wonderful atmosphere and good service.
We came all the way from Moncton NB and we were with family including small kid as per Google it showed they are open till 21:00 however we reached at 20:34 pm The guy refused to allow us to sit inside and eat. We had kids and we were hungry for hours. I will never ever come to this restaurant again and request the staff to learn some humanity.
Been here several times and when the tall pretty friendly girl that has been working there for long time is there serving us it has been great experience but when we have had any other servers it has been a horrible slow and awful experience each time. Good food but hire more servers other than only the one that knows how to do their job correctly.
Bad experience. Service was super slow. I called the restaurant at 2pm asked for their Sunday specials went there at 2:40 pm . Server came to take my order at 3.05 pm. I completely understand the restaurant can be busy sometimes. When i asked for Sunday special meal they refused the service as they longer make it after 3 pm . This is ridiculous, firstly telling your customer on phone that they can still serve you if i came before 3, and when you drive down to their restaurant you get denied for that service. Very poor service! Shame!
Delicious food, true Indian taste.
Delicious food and fast service. Friendly staff. A bit expensive.
Best butter chicken I’ve ever had. Been trying to find something nearly as good to make at home and just can’t. Wish I had the recipe!!
Best butter poutine!
Best place to get Indian food. Try double double spicy , it is amazing
Love veggie korma thr...
They deserve 5 stars, cx service is awesome they have the best food in town and cleanliness
Great stop to enjoy the flavor of food . Great staff. And great big thanks to the staff in the kitchen
Great Indian restaurant in downtown Charlottetown.
Good quality Indian food at reasonable prices. Friendly and attentive staff, and the naan is delicious. Great place for couples or small groups, as the tables seem more private, and the place is not noisy
Have been a regular visitor since couple of years , but the service tonight was awful ????. Had to wait almost an hour before our meal was serverd. And later had to wait another 30 minutes to get the bills and leave. Moreover the server was so unprofessional and arrogant. So overall had a bad experience and feel like the quality and quantity of the food has degraded. Additionally the cutlery and the plates were so old and scratchy, felt like they haven't been replaced or polished in years.
I recently saw a review by Binitha Davis about the issue with quantity with this Indian restaurant. This hardly happens with Indian restaurants. I have traveled across provinces in Canada and the same name franchises everywhere else is different from the taste of India in PEI as they keep up the brand name by just giving a taste of the food from India by charging 15+ dollars for the sample quantity dishes. It is definitely not a taste of India, where the whole country is meant for hospitality and limitlessness. Whoever patronises Taste of India restaurant just in PEI, please try the same dish in all.other Indian restaurants in the city. You will know the difference. I'm a traveller, never thought such a greed would still be there. If anyone had any good or bad experience please post. So people can judge rightly. Uploading my first shock in my entire Indian dining experience. I tried all other Indian restaurants before finishing up my final meal in the province, wanted to taste of inconsistencies ended up writing this review. Thanks
Great food and service… must try!!
I went there today and we were 7 people so we were told by reception that if you guys are more than 6 then we gonna charge you 10% service fee ! And I totally agreed with that but main thing is if you guys are expecting 10% service fee then try to give good table service too !! Because I don’t think that anyone has that passion to wait 1 hr to get starter! After all i got waived off service fees but we were there to enjoy our day and food not to spoiled my mood !
Waited for almost 35 minutes to get the food... only answer given was will receive it shortly... will not recommanded ever
Wonderful, Thankyou, great gluten help for an old grumpy celiac, never given five stars before, but four not enough
It was a disaster please don’t come they didn’t even bother you to ask you for water refill. Terrified.
Very Deceptive on online orders plus the food tastes awful as well! I ordered the food online and it was showing $0 delivery fee and total would be $27 all along but when my delivery driver arrived, there were $10 added on top of the total bill. I called the restaurant but they said that's how they do it as someone else delivers for them but problem is no where else they mention it, even when you get a confirmation email, it only mentions the total for the food. The lady said she will mention it to her boss but I know nothing will happen. To spoil the evening even further, the food arrived after 1 hour and 10 minutes, tasted awful as naan bread was ice cold. We honestly did not eat anything and threw everything away. I used to love you guys but the quality is going down everyday and it's quite alarming as there's so much competition around now.
They make the best curry in Charlottetown! Their naan is out of this world. Definitely will be back soon!
Sooo good! Highly recommended
The food was very tasty 10 out of 10. great ambience but poor service .
Had the lamb vindaloo, it was excellent, service was very good. A bit pricey after you add rice and Naan as it comes with nothing else.
Amazing food better than Himalaya keep it up guys
My friend and I came here for dinner last night, it was amazing and our server Chantle was so funny and personable! Will be back for sure :)
Very good food and friendly staff.
Nice restaurant and friendly staff. Great food but takes way too long to be prepared.
Best Indian restaurant in town
Had great time :) must try sahi paneer/butter chicken ????????
Great place with great food & people
Best place to have very good Indian food in PEI...
Nice place
Don’t order pickup. They’ll make you wait over an hour to get butter chicken and rice
We visited this spot during the Dine In special. We were seated promptly and the host was friendly. Our service was also pretty good, not much follow up after the food was dropped, but the restaurant was quite busy with the promo. The food came out in a reasonable time based on the amount of people in there. I'll agree with other reviews- Our medium spice was on the hot side, and in the future I'll go with a mild there. We ordered one of the yogurts for the side and it helped cool everything down. We had the chicken pakoras as a starter and they were tasty- nice mint dipping sauce. The prices are a little high for the meals- It was all tasty but perhaps not matched to the price. We were happy to pay $35 for it, but agreed at the regular price- It wasn't a $70 meal or experience. We were also charged twice for the raita but didn't notice until we were home. ????
The girl name Janvi has a attitude which should not be in the customer service at all. You have to welcome customer, shouldn’t say empty the tables when restaurant is still open. She Doesn’t deserve in customer service. And used to be a fan of Masala chai but today i got kinda old so asked one my server to change it and then she said “Sanjay refused to make it”. With this attitude at a restaurant Good luck and bye bye forever
Order shrimp masala/ curry and got few boiled shrimp in a pre- made common curry sauce, shrimp not even marinated to feel the real flavor, no this is not the taste of India
Yummiest rotis we had. Crispy and soft. The butter chicken was great as well. Must visit if you are in P.E.I.
We ordered Matar Paneer, Dal Makhani and Chicken Makhani and all food were well prepared and very tasty.
Came in for dinner the other day, we weren’t given water or menus. The server came up to take our order and didn’t say hello or ask how we were, and she seemed annoyed when we told her that we didn’t get any menus. This is the second time we’ve been here and had awful customer service. Definitely won’t be back a third time.
Amazing food, great interior. Meat was all cooked perfectly and all the sauces were great. I had the lamb vindaloo and loved it
Fantastic food and great atmosphere, although a bit pricey.
Amazing food and staff! 10/10 recommend!
I used to love the chole bhature here but the last time i went they reduced the quantity of chole and it was so less that wasn’t even enough for 2 bhature. Really disappointed☹️☹️
Very slow n poor service... Uncooked naan n tandoori roti.. Very small quantity of every dish...
Delicious and always a favorite!
Delicious food, amazing staff, unique atmosphere.
Food was really good and so was the service. Menu had a lot of options for ala carte. I'd recommend this place to anyone who's looking a recommendation for Indian restaurant on the island.
Great food.i was in PEI for a week and by far the best indian food place there.Food was served fast as compared to other places and was so freash. Will come here for sure
Best Indian Restaurant on the Island
I have been in diffrent places in charlottetown for Indian food and i can tell its the best.
Today i came from summer side to taste awesome food from no1 Indian restaurant in Charlottetown the staff is awesome i get my order on time the food was delicious.i recommend all to visit 1 time to taste their food and check their hospitality.
Recently, we had lunch at this restaurant. We were in a bit of hurry as we had to drive to St John's same day. Food was tasty and staff did their best to expedite our order. I found the food quality and quantity to be consistent with all other upscale Indian restaurants in USA and the ambiance was also excellent. We had another good experience with the hotel management. My daughter left her purse in the restaurant bathroom and once we realized it, we were already in St. Johns, NB by that time. Restaurant management promptly shipped her purse back to our home address in USA. This is a the place to go if you are looking for Indian food in PEI.
Fantastic food, prices are great and portions are very generous. Our server was very nice and went out of her way to answer our questions.I haven't had Indian food this good since being in the United Kingdom. Awesome place to check out.
Loved it. Excellent food, great taste. Definitely a destination for us when visiting Charlottetown.
Excellent food, I don't get down as much as I used to but I frequented this place for a while with a friend and never had a bad experience
Waited 40 minutes for undercooked rice and 4 small pieces of naan. Rice was way too buttery and salty i couldn't even finish it. Overall a poor experience. Were informed our food took so long because a table of 15 came in after us.... Husband was charged 2.00 extra for rice that is typically included in the price anywhere else. Will not return. Food was mediocre at best. Save yourself the time (literally!) And go to one of the better Indian places in charlottetown such as bombay, himilayan or spicey chef.
Great food, so many choices! The mango chutney curry was amazing!
Very disappointed
Great Indian food.Ask them for your spice level and they will make it to perfect!!Definitely coming back.Butter chicken was amazing!
Awesome taste but portion sizes can be improved. Would definitely recommend!
Very organized staff, try a wide variety of Indian style food. I loved my two visits there so far they were worth it
Worst service ever!!!! Had to wait 1 hr and still food wasn’t good. And also receptionist very rude . Spoil our new year
Very nice staff. Always good food. I ordered food for my every colleague yesterday and the way I wanted it was exactly like that. Different orders were exactly under the name of people, warm when we ate it and very good. Again I went today it was nice food. Although it was very busy today but staff apologized couple of times and served food with smile.
A nice place to grab a bite. Great atmosphere.
There is a very nice server named Ashmeet. She is gracious and professional. The food is great. Tables are clean. Felt comfortable dining in our in-between pandemic phase.
Delicious food with a variety of spice options. I can't tolerate spice and can finally enjoy Indian food. They're also very careful with my dietary restrictions.
Food is Tasty... HOWEVER NOT SAFE. NOT HEALTHY FOOD OFFERED. Each time I've been to this place, has resulted in heavy stomach and uneasy the very next day. They're presumably reheating the leftover stale foods over and over again. Still counting on decent Asian /Indian food offering place in town.. I'd choose health safety over spices and colourful smell and looks. PEI health safety inspection is so Loose.. Complaints to government do not work well these days.
Great food! Tried the Korma and the Butter Chicken and they were both above any Indian Restaurants I had tried elsewhere in Canada :)
Great flavors.
Best Indian food in Charlottetown.
Get the butter chicken with the garlic naan! Yum!
Great butter chicken!
I usually dont prefer to give 4 star. Striking of one star only because wait time was over 30 min for main course.
It was good service. And food was also not spicy
Delicious chicken korma and a lovely chai tea. Excellent service in a spacious environment.
Boo uncool. Food is good but customer service is in the toilet.
We had a lovely meal. Really tasty served by lovely friendly staff
Worst experince too much expensive Plus they are selling only one dish without naan seriosly they are making customer fools Too much expensive indian food Never go back Try bomaby csin That one is good and price too affordable guys
Taste of India has to be hands down one of my favourite restaurants in Charlottetown. It has great food and the great atmosphere. The food is always excellent and is of high quality.
The butter chicken is too sweet. I never eat such a sweet butter chicken. It makes me feel bad.
Delicious! Great lunch special!
New years day dinner. Relatively busy dining room. Lights were bright, music inaudible. Walls barren. Dining room has lots of potential but should work on ambiance. Sodas had zero ice. Smoothie was not cold. Food was excellent.
It has a nice atmosphere and the staff are great. My meal fell a little flat for me.
Worst experience ever ! Spoiled our new year and Spoiled my cousin's birthday ! The manager was so polite to us but had to wait a way to long for food ! They should tell us before that we are busy and food is gonna take long !
Tasty food! An great service! But merely an attempted imitation of real Indian food. For the real thing try the other place...
Just Awesome food!
Awesome restaurant for the following reasons: Restaurant location and parking Ambience - Feels Like Indian with spices displayed at the fortigo wall, shade of the wall, copper vessels stacked neatly at the shelf, bright light . Taste - Yummy!!!
I went to order some food and they did not listen properly and customer service is zero . Food tastes good but they donot know how to deal with cuatomwa
great food
Fresh and Delicious food. Nice staff, beautiful ambience.
Amazing staff and food
Great food, try the butter chicken and Punjabi chicken
Dal Makhani was amazing never had a this taste in Canada even in Ontario. Loved it..
Friendly staff, good food
first of all GREAT FOOD. chef is expert in indian food. try butter chicken, its awesome !! 7 star service.
Amazing!!! I always go for curry and naan here and it's always incredible. Service can be a little spotty at times but it's totally worth it.
If you go here please be ready to sweat a lottt here while eating your food, the place is very poorly managed, the owners of the restaurant should be ashamed in themselves, as they are not there which is fine, but they are keeping there employees in very hot and swear conditions, plus they are running up and down to the kitchen as well. Please get a Good Air Conditioning for the restaurant for both customers and your employees as they suffer the Most. To me personally the experience was like a punishment for which I was getting charged for. Thank you
Fantastic!! First visit for takeout. Had the Hot Punjabi Chicken and it was beyond delicious, my wife and kids had Butter Chicken and not a spec of sauce left over. 10/10 will be back.
Wonderful food and awesome staff.
Love the food but I had quite a long wait for it. I would suggest serving half the bread portion with the meal. It was way too much bread. But overall I would have to say I plan to go back.
You cannot order anything an hour before closing before closing as what was explained by the owner because the chef go home half hour before everyday. You cannot order alcoholic beverages as well when they don't want you to. Menu is expensive, food is okay and staff is unfriendly. They served naans before bringing curry and by the time got curry, naans were cold. Better go to Himalayan curry.
Great atmosphere
I ordered chicken korma, and it tasted not even 10% like it. Masala used in korma is different than normal curry. He just made a curry and put chicken in it. That's misleading and all his Currys taste alike. Quantity was not good tbh. Bombay cuisine has some taste and quantity atleast.
The food was really yummy and spicy. However the service was so bad, and at the end when paying because we did not give any tips the server threw the receipt at us at made a grumpy face at us, so unprofessional. This happened twice, with 2 different servers when we had been there now, would probably eat at another place now. No longer our favorite restaurant thanks to the servers.
Mixed bag, service needs a lot of improvement. Decor is disappointing. Naan, samosas and rice very good, butter chicken was a generous portion but had a strange flavor. Much better butter chicken available elsewhere.
The worst Indian food we ever ate!!! Spice-less , tasteless yet quite pricy. Disappointed :(
Very good!! We had a great meal at this restaurant. Food was very good, everything was super tasty and they ask what spice level you would like. We had medium spice, it was perfect, not too hot but just the right kick. Staff very friendly and polite. Price is average, not too pricey, but portions are a bit on the smaller side so keep in mind when ordering. Definite must try if you like Indian food.
We had an amazing first experience and would 100% recommend anyone who needs a good Indian food experience. KAYA was our server and she was absolutely amazing. It was our first time visiting PEI and will definitely go to Taste of india if we visit again
Food was below average , quality is good but Indian food doesn't taste Indian lol
Delicious! Something for everyone! This is a favorite of myself and my family, whether I go on a date or with a group, we're always sure to enjoy our meal! There's something for everyone - the popular Butter Chicken or Chicken Tikka Masala for anyone (like myself) who's knowledge of Indian cuisine is limited. Then for the knowledgeable - or adventurous - there are the more traditional dishes to choose from! I've yet to get anything that I haven't thought was good - even if not to my personal taste, I've yet to try a poorly made dish. My only warning is that the meal can take a while to arrive. Ask how long it takes to prepare dishes. Some dishes take up to 30 minutes to be properly prepared, so be sure to double check on preparation time if you're in a rush! For my last visit, my table bought simple curries and we were finished eating within 35-40 minutes. But other visits have lasted much longer due to the preparation time of certain dishes.
Wish I could give them 0 star ????????????????
Initially, they were not open- despite arriving 15 minutes after their posted opening time. A staff member told me to come back in ten minutes, so I walked around for a bit and returned. She allowed me to browse the menu, order, and get half way through paying before she informed me that it would be at least 45 minutes before any food would be ready.
Good food, good portions and excellent service.
Its really a great place to have an Authentic Indian food. If you are here then make sure to visit this restaurant. In PEI and in Northern Atlantic so far incl. big cities. Best food i had so far. Thank to Jessica for the good service as well. ????????????????????????????
Best pakora I've ever had, with amazing curry and naan.
When the food is that good, who really cares about waiting, but a hack that everyone can use is you can call before you go there tell them to get the food ready, be there after ordering 30 minutes, only that I would suggest the restaurant is, they should add some more drinks to there menu so customers can order something else than there “Mango Lassi” for the one who are alergic to yogurt.
Got very ill after eating here today. Food is mediocre for the price. Not enough meat in the dishes. I would avoid.
One of the best place to have a taste of India in canada.
Tasty dish.
Great food, and an excellent lunch special. Service is good, but nothing to get excited about.
Had the coconut curry chicken with medium heat curry, very good.
Service was really bad...the waitress seemed in bad mood or uninterested in her job.. really a bad experience
Super good food. Have seen fancier restaurants but the staff are great
The staff made us very comfortable and the food was very delicious, kind of reminded like I was having my dinner in India. would love to go again while visiting PEI.
One of my favorite PEI restaurants. Great food, incredibly helpful staff, and a consistently impressive experience help to make Taste of India one of my top recommendations for Island businesses.
I had a very bad experience today. Because one of the staff member Janvi, she wanted us to leave when restaurant was still open and we were still eating. And the other staff member name Sanjay, he refused to make a tea. Because of the today’s experience I will never go there again.
The food was delicious
Waited 30 minutes and never got so much as a menu or glass of water. We looked around to see pretty much a full restaurant of guests but not one person was actually eating anything so we decided to leave rather than potentially waiting all day to be served. It's too bad, my wife and I were really looking forward to this place opening, but now likely won't return.
The food here is spectaular. Every time we visit the food choices and quality are just so good. The staff are always nice, friendly. I LOVE Indian cuisine.best butter chicken and mango chicken cury I've ever had!. Such a great experience.
Always friendly staff and fantastic food!
Love the food but there is too much waiting time. The servers were friendly, the quality of the food was great, seems they just need more people in the kitchen to make it quick, so people don't have to wait..Overall, it was good..
First time, butter chicken with garlic nan bread, super
Best in PEI.
We drove into Charlottetown at around 9 pm after a full day's work. All we wanted is some good comfort food. We decided to give Taste of India a try. Reached only around 930, and were greeted warmly. We ordered tandoori rootis, veg kadhai, raita and dal tadka. Everything came to our table in about 15 minutes. The food was truly authentic with great spices. We could feel every texture and every fragrance. We will surely be back, if we return to Charlottetown.
Terrible service , just waste of time. I ordered dal makhni , had to wait for more than half an hour , then what came was Butterchicken, i called them again and then they brought something else dal tadka i think , and had to wait too long. Not happy ????
The food was soooo yummy. The service was good. And it was clean
The food was good and the decor typically average
Great atmosphere, delicious food, welcoming and friendly staff! Definetly a place I would recommend to stop by and dine in with your family and friends.
If you love hot spicy food. This is the place is the place to be.The server had excellent customer service
The food was tasting great. They have a huge dining room. The aircondtiong doesn't work and was a bit hot.
Great place to go on a date or an awkward family dinner. Doesn't matter if you like your food spicy or super bland. It's seemingly always delicious
Good food, lots of different dish's, and they have vegan options which is nice.
Expensive, quality is okay .
Very bad service, poor management as employees are bias and waiting time is too long!
The food is not good I ordered Daal and it wasn’t cooked properly. Not coming back!!!!
Good quality Indian food. I visited here with my family once and had a memorable experience. The chicken biryani was like nothing I've ever tasted before but the only problem was that the portion was too small. Would have loved to try some of the other dishes but they were a bit over-priced. Splendid flavours but I don't know if it was worth our pockets.
Best food in pei!
Great food. Authentic indian taste.
I called to placed an order and they put me on hold for 15 mins just to take my order 0 for customer service, if we talk about food then taste was ok not something Extraordinary but quantity is something shocked me after paying 15+ for one gravy dish not even enough for 1 person. I asked for little spicy and they add red chill powder from top which was not dissolved properly and created lumps they charge me for the bag which i didn’t asked for lol. Over all not worth the experience i won’t recommend.
Authentic Indian Food!! Good service as well.
Very nice test full food and sufficient quantity. They were short of staff so have to wait they were amazing. I highly recommend to eat.
Always delicious and quick. Great job.
Crazy wait on picking up takeout (90 minutes after being told 45) BUT the food was incredible. Will wait again!
Best Indian food I've ever had!
Had dinner at Taste of India this evening, I enjoyed the food and service very much. The paneer was fantastic! I highly recommend it for those who enjoy Indian cuisine.
Yes, it is the taste of India. So don't try hot spices in the dishes. :-)
Best curry in town.
Food was delicious. Place is lovely
Good food , authentic indian food. Good ambience and quick service as well.
Best indian food in the downtown Charlottetown
Great, varied menu. Spice level can be tailored to your preferences. Friendly staff. Lots of vegetarian options and several vegan options (ask the staff to clarify what is vegan)
Some of the best authentic food in town!
Amazing!!! Great service, fabulous atmosphere. The food was beyond good!!! Can't wait to go back.
Generous portions, excellent service, excellent food, good atmosphere. 5/5 will definitely be visiting again
????Oh my sweet God???? .. We were 15 people from Halifax and were looking for an authentic Indian food taste for 3 long years and finally our quest was over at " the taste of India".. Thank you Mr chef for amazing food ????... Wish we could put 10 stars ????????
Extremely expensive place. Lack of most of indian food items. Not much tasty just a name.
Best place for Authentic Indian Food. Will recommend 100%.
So bad experience first time food not good i want to fist time with friends you restaurants but food quality was not great
First time having India food and they made it great. Food was fantastic and very good
Extremely slow service... Took 25 min just to have a seat although there was an available space. The food tastes extremely sweet nothing close to "Authentic Indian" food. Would not recommend to anyone. Subway is far better in taste and quick in service.
Silverware were dirty as well as the cups and plates. The onions that you can get on the side were soggy as if they were couple of hours old.
Nice Indian restaurant and good service. Food tastes pretty good ????????
Excellent food .I am not kidding
The best Indian restaurant in all of Charlottetown!!! Perfectly pleasing for the palette...exotic flavours indeed! Rich and savoury with sensuous aromas which tease you at the door! You cannot resist!! Go in...immerse yourself! You'll not be diappointed!!
Really disapoint with the food. Quantity is very low. Plus the service is not good at all. If you call it a fine dine. Alteast fill the glass with water. I got hiccups and waiting for water for 5 min. No one was lokking at us so i can ask for water. Very dissapoint in this redtaurant.
Great authentic food. Service was good. Portions were plentiful.
The food was so good I forgot to even look at the rest of the place!
We had a group for a birthday party and they did an amazing job at taking care of us! Prepared food quickly and efficiently and even cut and served the cake we brought. Very kind staff and will continue to go back
Home away from home. Hahhaha
We heard about this place in a travel pamphlet during our stay in PEI and were excited to see a new Indian restaurant in Charlottetown. Food is very flavorful, lots of choice. Has lots of veggie options which is a plus. Highly recommended.
Delicious food, nice staff, timely service.
The rice and bread are really good, they also come in big portions.
Great service and delicious food as always, Happy Valentines Day ???? to you all!
Great addition to Charlottetown. Authentic Indian food at reasonable prices.
Do not have liquor only wine/beer. Hot "re spicy" food was not hot. Tasty though.
Worse experience ever. we visit in a group to eat and one employee told us to wait. we waited 55 mins. After that they said, we donot have paneer and tandoori items. Although, people came after us without reservation and got table. I want to add one more thing that girl who took our order was extremly rude and donot really know what exactly customer service meant. We know that how it feels when its so busy but it does not meant that you can be rude with customers. I donot recommend anyone to go there and waste their precious time as well as hard earn money.
Amazing food and huge portions! Worth every cent.
Whoa probably the best Indian food I have had. Great atmosphere and service.
This place is great for a specialty cultural food and the staff is awesome to help recommend dishes and explain what ingredients are in each dish a true India cuisine experience.
Food ok. Service awful. Better options.
May be the most popular in town and serves good Indian delicacies but the chef or the owner needs to be more hospitable and humble. Also they need to define the guidelines more clearly about the tandoor and kitchen closure rules. We reached the restaurant at 9-10 pm and understood that kitchen closes at 9-30 pm. So we were quick to place the order. When we asked for Tandoori items we were being told they do not take any tandoori items order after 9 pm. Well we requested the server and asked to request the chef couple of times. We also requested the willingness to meet the chef and request personally but he denied to meet us. We were tourist in PEI and wanted to have some Tandoori apetizers as we heard the good name about the restaurant. And this was the unfortunate part for us on the entire tour. But anyways whatever main course we had it was delicious. Chef's spl chicken is pretty nice, dal makhni and kadhai paneer is pretty good as well. I am reducing one star for the Tandoor rules and chef's ignorance.
Taste was sooooo good ..but waitaing periad is so long
I won’t recommend butter chicken. Its too sweet and not how a traditional Indian butter chicken should be. Butter chicken is never meant to be too spicy nor too sweet.
Great food, I do wish main dishes would come with a side of rice or naan bread like most other Indian restaurants.
Some of the best Indian food Charlottetown has to offer!! Their lunch special is a STEAL for the quality and quantity you get. $17 taxes + tip in - and that's with an added order of garlic naan. Everything is always delicious and fresh, have had lots of great meals here and will continue to do so! Have never gotten the chance to eat inside yet, but based on the food and service I've received so far, I'm expecting that to warrant 5 stars too.
Only half compared to normal dish on lunch special, how it could be special?
Best chicken tandoori ever with coconut rice and honey coconut naan ????????????????????
I had a great chicken biryani and rasmali. Fantastic tasting food and decently fast service. I'd definitely recommend going there.
Has to be the BEST INDIAN FOOD IN MARITIME !! Staff is good, ambience is nice and it's not wayyy too expensive! For the service, food, speed and ambience it's worth it I mean you're going to a restaurant at the end of the day ! Jess our server was the sweetest server I've ever had, she checked on us regularly and even if I forgot I asked her for something on side she made sure to get it and she told us about Chana bhatura especially on sundays! What else do you call perfection ? You go girl ! 110% reccomended!
Good food and sufficient quantity and was really mouth watering
Excellent food and service!
So yummy... We loved everything that we ordered.. Their Rasmalai is the softest and tastiest that we have ever had.. Service is also excellent.. It is a Must visit restaurant in Charlottetown.. I wish they had a branch in Halifax..
Good food, it has improved significantly since the early days, but the atmosphere is poor. The space is awkward, it's too bright, and echoes weirdly. It's not relaxing at all. Service has always been a problem here and that has not changed. Don't get me wrong, the staff are very pleasant, but there's a feeling of hurry and pressure, coupled with slow, confused food service.
Went out to this fabulous place with no air conditioner at all we were sweating all the time while eating our food I got sick of this place while waiting for my food get served and I am amused how their server manage in such a hot and humid place think about them .
Amazing Indian food. Staff are so friendly! Always leave satisfied.
Service was ok. Server was kind of disorganized and needed reminding. I had the buttered chicken and lamb Curry on separate occasions and both were very good. Medium spicy is not actually that spicy imo. Servings were pretty generous - I have not been known to not be able to finish Indian food before. And the food was fairly priced. My fiancee had Dal Mahkni and it was quite buttery. We actually ended up taking the leftovers home and added a can of black beans and ended up having two more meals of it... Great value?
Very ISLAND take on Indian food... Don't get me wrong... The food was good but all the flavours were incorrect... Spending 100 dollars on Indian food for 3 people you want authentic Indian. This is Indian style to me... Friendly staff and good service though! Naan bread was excellent, portions were what you get at most restaurants a good amount... Most likely will not return unless part of a group who choses to go there...
Excellent food. I have been there so many times. Everytime wonderful food and great service
Love the food. Nice atmosphere. Flavour was great, portions were generous. The chef took time to explain their many gluten free and dairy free Options!
Got bhindi do piyazz (the dryer of the two okra dishes they serve) along with garlic naan, plain rice and raita. Very authentic tasting. Hopefully I'll be able to try something else before I leave town. Take out containers looked a bit small but the portion was good, have left overs for tomorrow. Restaurant itself looked pretty nice. There is only paid street parking which they said wasn't too much of an issue past 5pm for pickup orders
Inconsistent food and small issues often. Forgotten apps upon takeout. Charcoal or crunchy blacks bit on the naan. Different level of spice when ordering medium. Pakoras drier than the Sahara desert.
Always delicious and reasonably priced. Service is efficient and friendly.
Best Indian food in town and everyone is supper nice too.
No.1 Indian food in PEI, we enjoyed it!
Plenty of food, great prices, fast service, amazing taste.
Not authentic Indian dishes but value for money deal at squatia square , Halifax
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, amazing food.
Wonderful food. Friendly staff! Great service!
Awful service by staff, missing fork and spoons in takeout and when i went back for complaint an employee start arguing with, prentending like i was lying to her.
Great food and great service, all the staff seemed happy and it was an overall good experience. Would reccomend.????
If I have an option to enter a 0 star, I would do that. Such a bad experience, We order 2 biriyani, we have ordered from this place in past, The quantity was just half of it, I ordered via phone to avoid the wait, the girl who took the order recommended to wait about 20 mins we were on time and paid, we waited about 30 mins after being there and later the cashier who we paid came back and asked us what was your order again, I was like we been waiting for half an hour and paid, Then we had to wait 10 mins to get the food. Then when we reach home the biriyani was half, We called to complain the situation, There is nothing they can do about it. Such frustrating experience. Not recommended, 0/10
The food is AMAZING and the staff is great!
Had fantabulous dinner there last night and hats off to the service and food, staff was too friendly ; I’d strongly recommend to everybody to have a taste of great food. ❤️
They don’t deserve even for a single star. Never ever go in this restaurant. Long wait to get the food and honestly taste was awful… Very very bad experience.
They dont know who come first and who come second They delivered food after me came folks Food is expensive too I ll never go back
worst experience i had today , because of mismanagement , made my whole mood bitter. I made call to get the reservation, but was told to walk-in as no reservation done on weekend, which i understood. But when i walked-in it was full. People were standing in front of counter. When asked how long it will take , was told that probably 20 min, they wrote my name and number and was told that they will call me as the table will be available. I went to sit in my car as i don't want to be in the crowd in this covid situation. After 45 minutes passed in my car waiting for call , seen people coming out of restaurant and some people going in , i walked in to make sure why i have not been called yet. when i asked about why i have not got call yet, i was shocked to here the answer that some people have called earlier than me . Well i think that is what a reservation mean, which i was told that you guys don't do it on weekends. I could have been told about this earlier that better to take out than waiting for dine in. My 2 hours were wasted today in all this for nothing. All this happened on my birthday. Thanks for wasting my time and having worse managed place. I never had complain with food but what happened today have made me to decide never to go here ever.
Ordered delivery to our Air b&b a short distance from the restaurant. The extra $5 for delivery and extra $2 to pay by credit/debit seems over the top. However, this was clearly explained and the food arrived faster than expected and was nice and hot!! We asked for medium spice and it was spicy! Really enjoyed everything. Might ask for mild next time as this was spicier than expected but very good quality. Only area to improve was the chopped salad. It was 50% red onion. Could have definitely ben a little better balanced.
Super friendly staff and the food was tasty.
Ordered mild mango chicken curry and a tandoori chicken. Specified that it was mild on everything. I don't know if they changed the menu or hired new staff, but the mango curry was watery and barely tasted of mango. There was not that telltale sweet kick and the chicken was overcooked. The tandoori chicken itself was fine, but it came with a spicy curry that was medium at least. The Naan was good, which is why I'm giving it a 2 star, but altogether it was a very disappointing meal; nothing like what it used to be and says nothing towards the quality we loved this place for. We were looking forward to finally getting something now that things had settled down a bit form Covid19, but it wasn't worth the 50$ we ended up spending on everything.
Have to wait for about 30 min for dine in but it's worth it. Delicious food.
Food is ok but could be better if they give good service. Very disappointing customer service.
Great place, nice taste. A bit expensive compared to Toronto.
Yeah man.they deserve more then 5 star for their quality, quantity, taste, service and variety.
Just above on average taste with less quantity as per price
Our first time eating here and we were very pleased with both the food and service. We had the curry chicken, nan bread and veg salad. All were excellent! The service was very good too. We will definitely be back.
Service is good food is ok..
Decent Indian food and fast takeout orders.
Just ordered delivery for 5 ppl. 130.00 inc tax and tip. no plates or cutlery came with order. Called to complain\advise, and after a short argument was hung up on !@#$%^ no apology or offer to make anything better. I was dumbfounded and wont be returning.
Was visiting from Belleville and my friend recommended this restaurant and i must say this is one of the best place to eat some good authentic Indian food. Everything was fresh and flavourful. The place was packed but still they managed to served the food in timely manner..Great experience!
I've been to this restaurant 5 times since Sept. Every time the food, service, ambiance and just the smell those spices made my dining experience fabulous. I have even converted some people who thought they hated Indian food to absolutely love the cuisine offered at a Taste of India. I have been to all of the Indian restaurants in the Maritimes. This is by far the best.
mmmmm. quick and delicious food!
Went there for lunch. Good food (butter chicken), cool space.
Great place for those craving for Indian cuisine. Staff is great and welcoming. My go-to spot whenever I am in PEI.
I totally enjoyed my visit to Taste of India. We were seated immediately. Our server Diksha was warm and welcoming. She assisted us in placing our order, and happy to say she was on point. We ordered spicy and got just that. The food was delicious. She checked in on us even after we were served, and her exceptional customer service continued until we were leaving. The only thing that was a turn off for us was the serving portions as they were very small.
Great food but the atmosphere was too mellow and somnolent. Would love to have food again but wished the atmosphere was a little more cheerful and energetic. Also very welcoming friendly staff and reasonable prices too but wish the atmosphere was not as dull
Very nice food and staff. Did not try any desert.
Always great food and service.
Great food. Slow service, but it was busy at lunch hour- for good reason. We will be back. !
very delicious food
My first time.. Food and service was great! Just remember it's not fast food... Have a little wait but that's expected when food is so good.
The food is ALWAYS excellent. The service is always good too. The only negative is that I heard the owner sometimes does not treat staff fairly.
The best butter chicken curry I've ever had
This is a great indian food restaurant. Service was fast and smiling, the food was absolutely excellent and pricing was fair. They also have a good alcohol menu. I highly recommend.
Food is nice and delicious, But waiting time is long. I think they should have more staffs for a really big restaurant like this!
Best Indian restaurant on the island
Bad experience and worst service. Food is too expensive and service is not worth the price of food. Appetizer is very low quality. Moreover, I was kept waited for 1.5 hours and waitress attitude was too rude. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all!!!
