Highly recommend for everything from a beer and oysters to a full steak dinner with all the fixings. We were there and just had some oysters and a drink but the meals that passed us while we sat on the couch in between the action of the bar and the restaurant was incredible. The smells that we enjoyed and the comments we overheard by those guests that enjoyed things secured the fact we are going back!!

Been here several times and sat at the bar. Unfortunately cannot remember the bartenders name that has served us each time but he has been spot on with his wine suggestions. Great food abounds here across the menu most recently was in for PEI Burger Love. Also shoved down some great local oysters. Food here is not the cheapest but it is a great spot. Will be back!

Service was very good. Our waitress Meagan was so nice and helpful. We enjoyed some of our dishes. Lobster ravioli was solid! Buffalo Mozzarella and tomato salad was decent. My Caesar salad was ok, I thought the dressing could have used more garlic,lemon and Parmigiano. My fried calamari was meh,too fishy, too much aioli. The oil could have been cleaner cause my frites were not as crispy as frites should be. My rib eye was ok. A little tough, a little grisly but overall everything was good. If I am paying that kind of money for a steak, I should not have issues.Sauces were on point for the steaks tho. Tighten up those food details and you guys are good to go! I would have given three stars however the service really bumped it up.

Our young family enjoyed the SIMS patio last night. We left very satisfied with my kids disappointed that they were too full to eat their desserts. The Oysters were so good that we had to have a second round. As an foodie I would recommend their ribeye and lobster rigatoni dishes without question. Friendly staff and a delightful experience.

I have frequented Sims to almost silly levels, I absolutely love the place. The staff are amazing, the food is incredible and the atmosphere just perfect. Sadly I no longer will be in the area and as a result will not be able to enjoy it as much. This is by far and away my favorite restaurant in Charlottetown!

Awesome staff. Good food. The amber ale is excellent. Had a funny experience with bees in the outdoor seating area, but they were harmless and the staff offered indoor seating and anything else to make us more comfortable with it. We even used syrup as bait. It was worth it to get the amazing chowder and other local favorites. Lovely server knew her beer stock. Typical tourist prices, but still not bad. It wasn't crowded but believe me, there's no reason for it. Recommended.

I ate two nights in a row in June. food was good, excellent beef the first nigh, service was slow and the meal disjointed but over all i'd give it a 4 1/2. 2nd night was a disaster, they were way understaffed, service even worse than the 1st night. meat was way way over cooked and they knew it when they put it on the plate. The service was so bad i couldn't get my check, i went to the front desk told him i was going to walk and they could come to the hotel to get paid. Second night was a -1 for food and for service. I suspect they treat the locals better than the tourists. We spent 3 days in Canada, and this was the only negative experience we had. Beware.

Nice sear on the scallops, lobster was tender and mussels was very flavorful. Oh, the warm biscuits with molasses butter to start was a nice touch.

Also found sedement in my wine glass, had to have it replaced and a hair fell from the waitress onto my food when she reached across the table in front of me and had to have my food replated.

Our experience was unforgettable. we had the chance to be taken care of by Megan the manager of the restaurant. Her professionalism, her customer service and her courtesy definitely changed our evening. The food was also there. Succulent filet mignon, delicious salmon with a drop of beets. We were seated on the terrace in view of the beautiful evening but the rich interior decor is totally an asset for this restaurant. One stop on your list in Charlottetown ❤️

First time eaters. Im giving this a 3 but its more like a 3.5 - not quire 4. It was a nice enough meal for a pricey steakhouse. The good - lovely intimate seating, top notch service, very fresh oysters, solid menu and wine list, very good cocktails, pleasant cheese selection from local producers. The not so good - I like a pricey steakhouse and dont mind paying for top quality - but if you are going to offer me a $125 dollar cast iron chateaubriand for 2 - it should be a little more "flash" than just placing your cool rested red meat on a cold cast iron display pan. If the cast iron doesnt play a part - then just a nice serving tray please. It was a properly cooked piece of meat - but it lost temperature too fast and having it presliced before it arrives at the table didnt help with that either. Also the plates that come with said meat should not be lukewarm at best - with lukewarm and congealed garlic mashed and lukewarm zucchini. Bernaise sauce was cool - so not very pleasant to enjoy with red meat. The interior while cozy is bordering on becoming very dated and drab. The paintings in our area were just gross - splatters of brown and black that looked more like wood shop accidents than art on a brick wall with dusty velvet curtains behind us. Dusty might be the best descriptive term you could imagine for the experience. I think this place could use a shakedown and it would notch up the overall quality fairly easily.

We have eaten at Sims 9 times now. How I know that, because we have been flying out to PEI every summer for a long weekend just to eat here. It’s that good! The food is amazingly fresh and innovative. The head chef grows most of the produce in the summer on his own property. My favourite appetizer is the seafood bruschetta please never take this off the menu it’s amazing.

Lots to love about this restaurant However, we were almost taken to the cleaners when paying the bill. We didn't have enough canadian bills to pay the check and didn't want to use a card if we didn't have to. We asked the waitress if we could pay in dollars and were told we could but were not told the exchange rate. We, of course, realize there is a cost to pay in dollars, but were shocked to learn, AFTER paying the bill that they were exchanging at a rate of 1 to 1, thus charging almost $50 American dollars on $200. Apparently this is a common scam on PEI. Very disappointing. Servers were friendly, but overall not very attentive. I had the filet which was good but tiny. Also ordered the sqaush and brussel sprouts which were delicious. We had to send one appetizer back because it tasted like the salt shaker was all open when they salted it. Chowder was good, burger was dry. At the end of the day, we would have overlooked everything had we known their intentions.

I had a beef tenderloin crusted with Gouda cheese, with garlic mashed potatoes (they were to die for) and the veggies in season were green beans and spaghetti squash. Delicious and even better than the Keg in my opinion! Will definitely be back.

Wow! Staff always smiles, accommodating, beautiful atmosphere, decor is classic and fitting for the location and environment. Oysters were the highlight of the evening. Would like to go back and try the steaks instead of the seafood. Wine list is sensational and highlights the venue. Recommended for wine lovers. Parking is limited. Non-issue if you're staying in the downtown. Walking distance and recommended as it's a beautiful place to walk. If needed can park on main street or side streets if available.

We went there on last week of 2019 june. The chowder was the better that we have eaten. Just wow ! There was an error on our order, the staff was very fair and apologised several times and offered a side order to compensate. But only after got home (Quebec), we realized after looking on our expenses trip, they did not charge one main course. So I felt a bit guilty because this main course was very good and I did not pay for it. For me it is a clue that they take their customers to heart and I want to thank them.

Seafood Bruschetta is impressive and would be suitable for Dark draft , lager beer, white wine. Fresh chopped scallops with olive oil with buttery sweet sauce is balanced. Steak was also cooked perfectly even though it’s a bit salty. The staffs were kind as well. The price was rather expensive than I expected with that quality but if you love to enjoy nights with a good mood in PEI , it’s good.

Did not meet expectations. Steaks were not done as asked for. Lobster was tough as rubber. Dessert was dried out. Service was decent. Drinks , both alcoholic and non were heavy on bitterness (was told they were designed that way) to the point it made them undrinkable and I can eat lemons and limes like someone would eat an orange. A $200 dinner for two should have been better. As a side note the scallops weren’t done right and were thrown up later that evening.

Sims is in the list of fancy places in Charlottetown. Just remember: With great fanciness comes medium to great cost(in currency). I don't think they have a dress code. I'd recommend a nice shirt and some clean pants just to be on the safe side. Food is great, beef cut quality is acceptable, oysters are fresh, lots of wine choices ranging from affordable to very expensive to please all the pallets and wallets out there. I once attended a business supper with upper management, our partners and some clients. They have this secret dining room downstairs; it's got a great big table, some nice heavy chairs and a really nice calm ambiance. We must have been around 15-18 people and we still had some good elbow room. Service was great. They were quick on the water refills and even quicker at identifying if you desired another beer or bottle of wine. Great place for a nice romantic diner with your significant other or if you're looking to treat some clients to a good supper. There's also an oyster bar you can sit at if you're flying solo and need a bartender to talk to.

I was disappointed with our visit. First I will say the food when it finally arrived was fantastic however we waited over 1 hour for our 6 oyster app. There were 4 other people beside us that ordered about 30 minutes after we did and they had there dinner finished before our oysters arrived. The main course took 1.5 hours to arrive. It was only 2 of. There was no acknowledgement that the food was slow by our server.

considering this is THE steakhouse in Charlottetown, we came with some high expectations. But aside from the atmosphere and the exceptional service from our waiter, there was not much else to show for. The seafood chowder is said to be a two time award winner but it was just salty, fishy, and came with shells. The steaks were fine in terms of doneness, but without flavour. The Brussel sprouts were wet and bland. The asparagus was old and flavourless with texture of sugar canes. Completely inedible and the béarnaise sauce they brought was solid and unmelted. How the head chef could allow such food to exit the kitchen remains a mystery. I would give this a one star review, but the 2nd star is for our waiter who was able to salvage this train wreck of an experience.

The medium-rare steak showed no signs of pink, the salmon was both over-cooked on the outside and raw in the middle and the calamari appetizer was bland and over-fried. Positive: good atmosphere, would be a good couples spot. Steak bread is very good. Negative: over prices for the quality you get. 2 scallops on a $16 appetizer. Service and kitchen struggle with groups. Overall there are better options for your money close by.

Excellent place for a nice meal in Charlottetown. If you're planning on going, I'd recommend making a reservation in advance or coming a little earlier in the evening. They do tend to fill up on weekends after 7pm! Food was delicious and our server recommended two different types of oysters for us, after we indicated we prefer creamy ones. Overall, a splendid meal, pricey but solid value for food quality. Two issues is that during our meal, there were quite a few flies indoors that kept hovering around our table and a few others which made a meal a little annoying. As well, their bathroom is downstairs, so it is quite a bit of a walk and it is quite dark and dim downstairs.

I never knew I liked seafood until dinner at Sims. Whether you’re a seafood hater, steak lover, or anything in between Sims has the perfect meal for you. We have a family of five diverse eaters, each with a different pallet, so I’ve included each below for your reference. Teen, delicate pallet, and eats nothing but pasta: The oysters were my appetizer, and as a first time eater, they were delicious. From the Kalamari to the Steakhouse burger, service met taste to craft the best meal I’ve ever had. Recommend the Steakhouse burger and Seafood. Older kid, average pallet, eats lots of steak and broccoli: The kalamari was my appetizer. It was cooked just right and had the right amount of spice. Sauce was good gives a burst of spice. My first time having oysters. I am not a big fan of oysters but my dad and sister said it was really good. My mom is not a big fan either but she really likes it. The fish was amazing and was a little crispy on the outside with the nice hot inside. I would recommend the Sims for dinner. Younger Kid, average to delicate pallet, eats a variety: She had an appetizer of fruit from the kids menu, and loved the taste, had two servings! For the main meal she had Mac and cheese. Now, she’s the kind of Mac and cheese eater that like her meal specific way. Homemade, the right way, you know the deal. We weren’t expecting much, but when she rated it a nine out of ten, we were impressed. Dad, can eat everything, has great spice tolerance: Oysters were the best he’s ever had, fresh and scrumptious. His main meal was filet minion, and he was in love with the taste and tenderness. Would recommend the filet minion. In his words, “this is how a meal should be.” Mom, average spice tolerance: Likes the oysters and enjoyed the wine. Had mussels as her main and says they were ok, however we’re outshined by the rest of the meal and wouldn’t recommend. Says the ceasrer salad was amazing and the seafood blew her away. Wait time: 30 minutes Service: Excellent and great waiter told us what to do on the island as well. 10/10 Recommend highly.

Went tonight for our autistic sons birthday, its what he chose. He loved his meal and had a great time. My meal on the other hand which my husband and i shared, we got the cowboy steak, was not worth the high price. It was almost cold when it was served and extremely bland. The mashed potatoes were the same texture as the ones in a hungryman microwave meal, also near cold. My friend got the burger love and found it extremely dry. Overall just not a pleasant meal and i got sick a couple hours afterwards from it. Service was good and the restaurant is very nice inside, but this was a huge waste of money if it werent for our sons birthday.

The food was even more spectacular than the service: impeccably cooked local seafood (the rock crab for the crab cakes came from the nice guys who worked at the end of the lane where we cottaged for two weeks), freshest oysters we've had on land, a few surprising additions to dishes. Just arrived and was advised great food, Well food was ok ,service was slow (not a busy night) and if you don't ask about the exchange rate they will charge 1-1 ratio ,meaning the Canadien dollar being worth only .75 cents to your American dollar will be traded straight across , meaning you lose. 25cents on every American dollar you trade with them . Please exchange your money @ the bank or use Visa so you don't lose your money. Every other place we have visited in Nova Scotia explained their rate usually 10-12 percent not 1-1 exchange , BUYER BEWARE

I ordered Ribs and lobster roll. The bones were as cold as the weather outside, obviously reheated ribs, and they couldn't even brush it with a bit of BBQ sauce. The lobster roll was canned lobster! Very very disappointed to get canned lobster on the island and pay the premium price. First time in there and the last time I'll ever eat in that place, for sure! It was the grossest place I ate while visiting PEI.

Seafood Bruschetta is impressive and would be suitable for Dark draft , lager beer, white wine. Fresh chopped scallops with olive oil with buttery sweet sauce is balanced. Steak was also cooked perfectly even though it’s a bit salty. The staffs were kind as well. I would have given a higher rating, but the service brought the whole experience down. I was sitting at the bar and while I can appreciate it was busy and the server/bartender was working 2 jobs, she had time to chat with other patrons, while still ignoring my my empty glass or plate, until it was time for the bill and shuffling me off the seat for the next group of waiting clients. Simms food is good. Mostly. I find they do a great job of the meat... whether it is steak or chicken or fish.... But the veggies are generally less than par... tonight the potatoes were like warm... when brought to their attention, they replaced with hot mashed... my thought, tho, is why do I have to bring it to their attention. The meal is, by far, the most expensive served at any local restaurant. If that was the first time that sides were not up to par, I'd be ok, but it happens almost every time. I eat there two to three times per year.

I love Sims. I love the oysters, the lamb, the seafood, the deserts. I even love their mac and cheese. The price range is high, but it is entirely consistent with the quality of food and service. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you're going in for a full meal or sneaking in for a desert and a coffee, it is a lovely place. I've been in booths with my family that feel private and cosy, and at the bar striking up conversation with people off of the tour boats who are enjoying the nearby tastes before taking off again. Both are different but amazing experiences that really work in a place like this.

Overall the experience was not one I'd repeat. Staff were friendly and helpful enough, however the food didn't live up to expectations. The general theme was everything we had simply had top much going on. A sauce or more with each dish. Calamari was the best cooked part of the meal. Steaks came on a bed of very salty steak sauce, and no bark or char to be found. To their credit the doneness was right on point with our ordered preference inside. Lobster was no where near as flavourful or sweet as the one we tried at a nearby restaurant the night before.

We arrived in town around dinner time with no reservation at any of the local restaurants. After trying a few places, I went into Sims who had over an hour wait. My husband who walks with a cane, was getting tired. As we milled around out side wondering what to do, the hostess from Sims came out and said that they were trying to arrange some tables and if we could wait 10 minutes they could accommodate us. And they did! Not only was the food excellent but the thoughtfulness and kindness of the staff was admirable. There could not have been a better welcoming to PEI than what we received at Sims.

I love the atmosphere at Sims and our service was outstanding. There were six different oyster options and the three that we tasted were great. The caesar salad was also very good. The wine list is better than most. Sadly, our mains were awful. The ribeyes were overcooked (we asked for medium rare) and covered with a thick coating of salty steak spice. The amount of salt made them all but inedible. The double baked potatoes were dry and lukewarm and yet burned on top. Even the plating was unappetizing - the parsnips and broccoli were under the steak. Very disappointed this time.

We were there with a large party. The service staff seemed nice enough but the food quality and timeliness of when we got the food were not good. Our appetizers came at a normal time but after the appetizers it was at least an hour wait (perhaps longer) before our mains came. By the time the mains for our table actually came, many of the people from our party sitting at the other tables were actually on their way out for the night... and then the fire alarm started going off! so once our mains finally came and we began eating we had to eat through about 2 mins of the loud fire alarm going off. In regards to the food quality, I found our vegetable sides to be overcooked. The asparagus and green beans were limp. The steak I got was was cooked rare which was what I asked for. In general I didn't find the dining experience enjoyable nor did many of the people in my party. The prices seemed reasonable for an upscale steak restaurant but the quality and service did not match the prices.

I don't know if it's because of the staffing shortages all over the Island but if they want to keep up their reputation they need to get a lot better with their quality.

Whoa. Full stop, this is place served me the best steak I’ve ever eaten. I’ve eaten at incredible steakhouses in Texas, Alberta and Ontario (Jacobs) and this place easily topped them all. As someone who’s grown up in Alberta, I’m literally blown away by this place. I’ll also add that service was absolutely top notch here - truly down to earth, real people in this establishment.. If I’m ever back in the Charlottetown area, I’m most definitely returning.

Great staff! Very nice layout and ambiance. The food is good but the taste can still be improved a little bit in seasoning; I would like the chowder to be less salty and the beef stroganoff to be lighter in smell yet a little bit more flavourful to reduce the original taste of uncooked beef. But I really like the texture of the beef tho, soft and well made.

Amazing steak. Wet aged and dry aged a bit. Had the porter house and it was really good. I had the shrimp and scallop add on. They give you one and not worth it all. They should be giving lot more given the fact that this is in pei Canada. Each shrimp was$8

A little on the pricey side... But all of the food was really good. The marrow isn't worth the money. I am a total odd food nut, but the marrow was just flavorless grease and fat served inside a leg bone. The mussels were quite good... The steak was solid. The béarnaise sauce added flavor. The oysters were above average. With drinks, the meal cost is about $75-$100 per person.

The food is overpriced and the portion is extremely small. We came at a not-so-busy afternoon but wait for half an our to get our first appetizer-raw oysters. It only take us 10min to eat the food since only two bites for each entree. Then we asked for the bill. It took the waitress 15min to bring the bill to us! She is not efficient at all. She wasted one hour of our time in Charlotte town. The option for the tips are 15%. 20% and 25%. We only pay 10%.

We came to PEI for our first time stayed at The Great George was told to try SIMS ,well the first night was amazing, great atmosphere and the service great and great food. This place was so good went back next night it was the same amazing. Laurie and I would love to thank our two servers (Jesslyn&Cheryl) for their great service! Love this place! Excellent lunch today! Thoroughly enjoyed by our group. The Redhead Oysters were amazing, the Seafood Bruschetta was excellent, the Skirt steak with the house Caesar was second to none, as was the Halibut. Last but certainly not least …. They have the best steak strip I have ever had. I have traveled all over the world and there steak is by far the best. It's aged for 45 days and cut in house so that it's always perfection. The cheese and lobster crust I had put on top made every bite melt in my mouth. I was in PEI for a visit for 3 days. And I ate there twice. That's how amazing I think there steaks are! The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing.

(Translated) Luckily I ended up looking for an Oyster bar here! (There were still possible alternatives. Four young (pretty) ladies took care of the service. The offer of six different oysters was of course sufficient, there would have been Lobster and others. Delicious! The decor suitable for the listed building: Moderngediegenhistorisch (see pictures). In the light rainy weather with continuous cloud cover a real ray of hope! (Original) Zum Glück bin ich auf der Suche nach einer Oyster-Bar hier gelandet! (Es hätte noch mögliche Alternativen gegeben. Vier junge (hübsche) Damen erledigten sorgfältig den Service. Das Angebot von sechs verschiedenen Austern war natürlich voll ausreichend, es hätte auch noch Lobster und anderes gegeben. Lecker! Die Einrichtung passend zum denkmalgeschützten Haus: Moderngediegenhistorisch (siehe Bilder). Bei dem leichten Regenwetter mit durchgehender Wolkendecke ein richtiger Lichtblick!

We enjoyed a beautiful meal here. The staff was friendly and we were sat right away for our reservation. We enjoyed apps, mains and a desert. I started with the Cheese from Here and There. I ordered for one, and it was a ton of food. I would recommend the portion for one to be split for two people. My partner had the Roasted Bone Marrow & Tartare. For our mains we had the crusted filet mignon and the Delmonico steak. Both were lovely, nice sauce and the fries were delicious. The sticky date pudding for desert was perfect. We shared this and a bottle of pinot noir. I would say the only downside to our experience was having questions about what items were and our server wasn't sure. Mostly with the cheese plate- I would have loved to have known what some items were.

3 of us went in on a Tuesday at 830 without a reservation and we were able to get a table within a few minutes as it was not overly busy. We ordered drinks immediately and they took an extremely long time to arrive, as well we ordered our meals very quickley. We then ordered mussels to share and they came out very dry and lacking any flavor. Probably the worst mussels we have ever had and we are from PEI. We then waited an extremely long time for our entrees and the waitress actually made a point of apologizing for the long wait. Once the main courses arrived my steak was excellent but was missing the side of mushrooms I had ordered. Our dinners were very good but the service was terrible and would not return.

Great location and great atmosphere. However for a 65$ surf and turf dish- the steak was small- over cooked for my request and the lobster portion was very very small. Arrived cold on top of it all. The waitress was good however. Because I enjoyed my experience, I did not mention it to the waitress. But overall, for THE steak house in town, it is overpriced and overrated. Not worth the money.

My steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The seafood chowder was the best I had on our trip. Drinks were good and they have a good wine list. This restaurant could be better organized and creat a waitlist and take contact info instead of the current system. I also found the hostess very unfriendly, to the point I almost decided not eat at the restaurant that day, could have been an off day. The rest of the servers made up for her attitude.

I've been fortunate enough to enjoy restaurant dinners all over North America. Our dinner at Sims Corner may have been my best experience ever. Our server, Eric, was very good! The food was perfect. The atmosphere was very comfortable. All in all, the total experience was fantastic.

A disappointing meal considering the high reviews. Out of the 5 dishes we ordered, the calamari arrived cold, the salmon was over cooked and the scallops were overpriced ($18 for 2 pieces). On the plus side, The oysters were delicious and there was great service by the staff despite the kitchen wait times. We wanted to love this place but unfortunately would not recommend this restaurant.
