This is one of my favourite restaurants in Charlottetown. They have a great variety of really good food on the menu with lots of gluten-free options. One of my favourite dishes is their Creamy Chicken on Spinach. Their steak sandwich is one of the best I've had anywhere. Their soups are amazing. My friends and I go here a few times a summer. They have a large, comfortable dining room for enjoying the company of others and the wait staff are very welcoming and good. Their patio seating on a nice day is wonderful and there is frequently live music right beside them. The only complaint I've ever had about this restaurant is that it isn't open all year round. Definitely worth your time to try.

Great food, service and ambience. The only negative thing was that the fruit flies were abundant in our wine glasses and the bottle. When we mentioned it to our server, it was kind of brushed of as no big deal and nothing could be done about it anyways. Not happy about that.

We arrived at what seemed a very busy lunchtime. The General Manager and Operations Manager served us - almost seemed the waitress staff were overwhelmed - whatever, the service was brilliant and the first batch of food arrived promptly. There were six of us and they had no trouble moving two tables together.

The layout and setting is nice but the food needs improvement. My seafood chowder is too dense which make it hard to finish the whole bowl and the side bread is a little bit soggy. The virgin drink is quite sweeter than expected.

Food was good, drinks were good (when we got them). We were never offered water, everyone's food came out about 10-15 mins apart for each other, as I was eating my entree (which was cold), my husband was eating his main course (which was also cold). We had multiple servers and it seemed a bother to each when we asked for another drink, or where our food was. For apps, drinks, and a main course we were there for about 3 hours and we ordered as soon as we got there and left as soon as we finished eating. Wouldn't recommend as this is not my first time having poor customer service at this location.

Everything here was fabulous. Husband had seafood pasta and portions were large and it looked tasty. Kids had stir fry and fettucini and the kids portion of pasta was HUGE! Music playing in the background and fantastic wait staff were only the icing on the cake. Highly recommended and Emily as a server was terrific.

We stopped for a drink on Tuesday at about 6.30 pm. The server pressed us to order more by coming to our table several times (at least 6 or 7 times). We ordered some oysters and after we finished she came by another 3 times to ask if we wanted more food. We told her that we were happy with our beer for now and that we would order our entrées later. After less than 5 minutes she ssked us again if we were ready to order. Other people on the patio were having beers without being disturbed, but we felt so uncomfortable that we paid our bill and left to eat elsewhere.

This place is amazing! For pretty cheap prices, you get great portions! It also always has music just outside, and is just across the street from it. The staff is friendly and that includes the manager! I definitely recommend this place to anyone, local or tourist. I had the fish and chips, which for $17 had a lot. Lastly, and probably the BEST part about this restaurant, is that almost everything can be done gluten free or vegan. All around amazing restaurant and I would visit again if I got the chance.

This is a nice place, depending on how you catch it. Most of the food was good, but some of it was a bit of a let down. Usually the steak sandwich is very good, maybe that night was a bad night for it. The patio is lovely but was full when we got there. The beer is served in huge glasses which was a plus! And their selection was very good and full of local favourites. The air conditioning was seemingly on full blast, making the inside colder than the fall evening outside, and when we asked about it there was no change. The dishes are definitely a bit expensive, and our meals took about an hour to come out, some being cold once they arrived.

This feels lkke a tourist staple for P.E.I. food is good. I went there the other night and the hostess was so down. She did not want to be there and let us know it. She must of had something pretty rough going on in her life. Our waiter was great and the food average. I was not expecting much based on first impressions. I went here as a tourist and it's the first time I tipped more than 15% at a restaurant. It was because the service was incredibly fast. I had their lobsters roll, and it was cold for some reason, and then It caused the stomach pain for whole night. I am here to attend an conference. This sick food actually ruined everything, now it is 4:42Am, I have severe stomach pain because of this food. I am not sure if this cold lobster meat is preserved. This is a disaster I am feeling like a food poisoning.

Lunch break during a conference- We popped in here as an 8 person walk in, with varying dietary restrictions and a bit of a time limit. Sounds like a perfect storm for a bad time, but we had an excellent experience. Great food, our celiac of the group was totally satisfied as was the vegetarian. The meals came reasonably quick and truly everyone was happy. The service was top notch. Would absolutely recommend this place for groups!

Great for lunch. My husband and I split two different meals - steak sandwich and chicken club - and loved both of them. The atmosphere is relaxed but upscale. I love the artwork: original paintings by local artist Emily Howard, depicting scenes from old Charlottetown during Prohibition. Great variety of draught beer, lots of choices for picky eaters, and many gluten-free options.

Literally the first restaurant we've sat down in since March! Everything was very well done with the restrictions and the food was really good! Delicious seafood chowder and oysters. It's also a great deal for kids with $8 buying them some food and a drink. I would definitely go back for more and I hope they're doing well during the awful economic climate. PEI's treatment of non-maritime seasonal residents has been completely unfair and will be hurting these businesses.

Good service and generous portions. I ordered a side of scallops with my Caesar salad and I got a lot more than what I expected. The salad had a bit too much cheese and dressing on it, but it was still tasty. My husband ordered a sandwich with a side salad. The side salad was very big and they were so generous with the portions of nuts and bacon. Thank you! We will be back again one day!

Lovely restaurant on Charlottetown's historic Victoria row. Adjacent to the Confederation Center of the Art. This location makes it wonderful for pre Theater dining or post theater drinks. Indoor and outdoor dinning. Live music nightly on the Main Stage which you can enjoy for free and usually nightly acoustic music after 10 to finish out the night.

It was 1145pm and they told us the patio would close at midnight which was fine. So we said "That's ok we can sit outside for 15 mins and then take our drinks in" and they replied with "No, by the time you get your drinks it will be time to go inside so just please go inside" with a slight attitude. I expected them to say "Sure, sit down and enjoy the patio for 15 mins then at midnight you can take your drinks inside" but they didn't. So we walked away.

My husband and I decided to try John Brown's on a whim and regret out decision unfortunately. The gluten free option for tacos were stale corn taco shells that had been sitting out for far too long. The maritime taco meat was not seasoned at all, I couldn't tell which type of seafood I was actually eating. We enjoyed the atmosphere. That's about all...

Went in with a couple people and didn’t have a great experience. We were seated right away, and I told the host that there was a fifth person coming shortly and that we would need a table for five. We sat down and when the fifth person was close to the restaurant I told the man serving us that she was almost here. He then said that it might be an issue for the restaurant to put her at our table, and then he said he would see what he could do before leaving quickly. When she got to the restaurant and was standing by the table he passed, looked at us, and then left to see another table. Her meal was already ordered, and we told them ahead of time, but they found it an issue? Poor planning on their part, does not mean it’s going to be an issue on my part, so I got up and got another chair. When the food did come it was bland and basic in comparison to the prices and descriptions on the menu. Multiple order substitutions were wrong, extras were forgotten. When the food was dropped off, our drinks were empty at that point because we had been waiting for an hour, and he didn’t bother to give us refills or even to come back to check on us. By the end of the meal we still had not seen him, and we ate our meals with dry throats. We did however see him flirting with the girl workers around the restaurant. We finished and sat there for almost ten minutes before he noticed and came over with our bills. When he came over and gave us our bills, he left and we assumed he was coming back with a machine, so he waited at our table. He didn’t come after fifteen minutes so we got our stuff and went to go up to the bar but he stopped us and brought us back to the table and got a machine to charge us. We brought his attention to the issues with each order, he apologized and said he couldn’t do anything about it now. He offered no discounts, and wasn’t very sympathetic. We had assumed he had taken the extras off the bills which we didn’t receive, but he didn’t which we realized later after we left. We were in the restaurant for a little over two hours, when we only came for a quick bite. He was a tall man with a beard, black hair, he had a big build, and I think he might have been a manager. Didn’t catch a name. WORST SERVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED.

Excellent portions of mussels! The white wine sauce was delicious, and the curry pineapple sauce was a neat change of pace. We finished it off with the beef sirloin tip poutine, which was a perfect complement to our mussels. A good radler was a great way to finish off the meal.

Poor attendance by the waitstaff. Asked for oysters, not available- they are almost always available in PEI. Southwest nachos (pictured) were not good. Not spicy, but rather, a very sweet mystery sauce was drizzled over the chips and cheese and toppings, heavy and over done. Had the Burger love 1 week ago, also mediocre. Beer selection is adequate.

It was a busy night (before a show at the Confed Centre) so we decided to sit and eat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Both the hostess and manager were very polite and welcoming. We ordered food and some local beer, but before our food came a booth had opened up and (despite not asking for this) the manager came over to offer it to us before the people who were waiting at the door... A really nice touch. The food was actually incredible, and the experience overall was perfect. We will definitely be back.

Loved this place. This restaurant on Victoria Row has a very good local beer selection, a simple yet elevated selection of pub fare as well as a full dinner options. I started with the mussels in a white wine and garlic broth which I highly recommend. I went with the steak sandwich which unfortunately was pretty overcooked (asked for medium rare, it was medium on the verge of medium well) but it was saved by the delicious sauce. Nonetheless I would not only return but order the steak sandwich without hesitation as the flavours showed promise. The staff was also very friendly and knowledgeable, I appreciate a manager who does the rounds themselves to see how guests are enjoying their experience.

A well managed business with polite staff and good food. I accidentally ordered something that usually wouldn't have any nuts in it and immediately realised I was wrong. Accepting that it was my mistake for not asking I said I was happy to pay but I couldn't eat the meal due to allergies. Once my partner had finished her meal we were surprised to see they didn't end up charging us. We tipped more than usual and thanked them, it was very nice of them to understand that we didn't mean to cause any hassle.

Pub with really nice recipes. Perfect to enjoy a drink with good food. Menu offers a wide variety without being overwhelming. You also have a good amount of different wines and beers to pick from. Live bands might also be playing according to the season.

Good food and portions. Be prepared to wait a long time for your food to come. Servers were also not the most attentive. They also don’t take tap/Apple Pay (but saw an ATM on site). Overall, food itself is good but service is lacking. Would recommend going to somewhere else (for quicker service) if you have plans after eating. Good for having a drink/sitting down for a while.

Randomly selected this store when walking around downtown Charlottetown during the summer. We asked to be seated outdoors as the weather was nice. Tables outdoors seated only 4 people and we had 6. We asked the hostess if we can join the tables together but she wasn't sure if she could. She had to ask her manager. The manager said yes. It was extreme hot outside, the patio has no roof rather they have umbrellas. Our tables umbrellas weren't open so we asked if we could open it for some shade. Again, the hostess said she doesn't know, she had to ask the manager...the manager had to come and opened the umbrella for us. She doesn't know anything.. As for our waiter, she was okay up until the point where I asked her what kind of oysters they had because the menu didn't state the type. Her response was just the regular type of oysters. Oysters have names and places where they come from...she's doesn't even know what kind of items they are serving at the restaurant she's working at... great It was so irritating eating at this restaurant. The service was horrible, the staff didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. Whatever questions you asked them, they don't know how to answer. Overall, food was okay. Not that good. Price was alright but I wouldn't visit again.

Many park entrances with a decent amount of available parking. Shuttle availability and some accessibility options along with an indoor gift shop and washrooms. Usually crowded during traveling seasons but more than enough seating and parking to accommodate. Park is beautiful and well kept while being a part of the Parks Canada group of tourist locations. Potential area for jogging and hiking along with dog walking venues. Relatively safe area for a place known for large tide changes with helpful staff and rangers.

A nice setting on the patio with the live music on Victoria Row. The food was okay, nothing outstanding however. Our server only came to our table once to take our order and never returned; we wanted to ask for a drinks menu, since the one from our table was missing, and order a drink but by the time we waved down another server our meal was nearly finished. There are a few other restaurants nearby that were nearly on par for price that we found to have much better food and service.

Solid restaurant. Location/ambiance - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Food - 4/5 Being right on Victoria Row in Charlottetown, you couldn't ask for a much better location. John Brown's has a nice patio with beautiful open air indoor seating when the weather is nice but the sun is a bit hot. We were greeted and seated quickly and our server was sweet. We had menus and drinks within minutes which is usually a big indicator of the speed of your visit. My only gripe (and it's a small one) was that we found our meals a little... plain. The chips in my nachos weren't seasoned and neither was the beef from what we could tell, so although it had great presentation it tasted like something I'd make at home. The fish and chips were nicely battered but the modified take on tartar sauce will be a hit/miss with some. Again, nothing to prevent us from trying another couple of dishes on another day - I don't want to imply that things were bad. These days we're spoiled with food offerings in even the smallest of places, so we'll look forward to trying some new dishes next time! Bonus: during the day they had a kids menu for our young fella. Our server was great with him and he quite enjoyed his chicken fingers.
