Good oysters!

Joseph Huang

Amazing food, friendliest staff (even for PEI standards). A colleague and I were here on business and we ate here 3 nights in a row because we couldn't bear the idea of picking another restaurant and it not being as good. The mussels were delicious and a generous portion, the wine selection was excellent, and I cannot recommend the galway bay (may have spelled that wrong) enough. It was heaven. On the last night we did the chefs tasting menu and by the end of the 4th course I was defeated by the sheer volume of food. Best value in the entire restaurant. We only ate the seafood, but the steak looked delicious as well. If you can only try one upscale restaurant, make it this one!

Jackie Pineau

Good food and friendly service

The food here is INCREDIBLE! Great atmosphere. Amazing fresh oysters and they have a steak pie with Guiness that will make you want to fly to PEI just to eat here. Cannot say enough about this place...

Luke Thompson

One of my favourite places to get dinner in Charlottetown. Scallops and pork belly was fantastic, and dessert was great also. Always excellent service here!

Danny Flood

The best oysters I have ever tasted and for die for bread pudding. The waiters are excellent and knowledgeable

Jeremie Doiron

I always suppose that I'm not in the place to judge. But please forgive me, I just can't help but want to get something out of my chest. To be honest, As far as the service provided by certain waitress in the Claddagh Oyster House was concerned, I have to say, it's name doesn't match the reality completely. Apart from the cramped and narrow ambiance and the mediocre dishes, the service offered to us was totally weird and terrible! One waitress was sort of cynical, ironic, conceited, patronizing and arrogant extremely, which is exactly out of the accord of the times and atmosphere of our beautiful and friendly Charlottetown. Not mention that waitress was absolutely in a complete fog about Western Table Manners---for example, the waitress just served the mains when the appetizers of ours were still on the table, and the appetizers weren't taken away from the table even long after the mains were serving on the table. It's really the worst, also the only bad experience till now in my life, in my memories, so my family and I were just shocked to silence and were taken aback totally. All that we can do then was finishing the meal ASAP, paying the bill and seeing ourselves out as quickly as we can. The last thing I'd like to do is having any further contact with this restaurant in future. Especially, I must say that I really felt so sorry to my family because it's me to make a great recommendation of this restaurant to them.I promised it won't happen again. God save me! God forgive me for the judge. Let's all of us not to judge again, let all of us to have a humble heart, let all of us to be far away from the arrogance.

Love this place. We drove from Toronto to spend some time on PEI and this is the only place we reserved in advance to ensure we got to eat here. They have the best oysters. The servers are nothing short of amazing - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The menu, while not exhaustive, covers everything you would expect, and it is all exceptional. The chowder is glorious. The mussles are fantastic. But, seriously, just save room for the oysters. The homemade sauces are delicious and accent the natural flavor of the oysters perfectly. The wine list is better than average, and you can definitely find the right white wine to pair with the oysters! We left and immediately booked one more dinner for this trip, so we start and end the trip here!

Dara Gill

Great service and the mussels were to die for.

Brandon Mol

Great food and even better service. Highly recommend.

Carlee McTavish

Noah Brownstone

Incredible! From the service to the food, everything was simply incredible!

Alex S

Exceptional food and service. Claddagh's serves up a wide range of fresh Oysters from PEI. The oysters were the second best restaurant Oysters I've eaten. Our server Brandon was top notch. They also have a good drinks selection. For my main I ordered the pork belly, which was scrummy! Dishes were well paced, and only came out after each previous course was finished. It was a relaxing experience. They are expensive, but they delivered.

Went for my wife’s 60th and it was amazing!! I would normally have a surf and turf or a burger ( the best burger in PEI) but we went outside the box and had the chef’s 4 course tasting and we were blown away!!!!! Being a retired chef with 40 years in hotels I usually don’t order fish due to it being over cooked for my liking! But we had halibut that was cooked to perfection!! Everything we had was a home run!!! The kitchen is not the only star here , the wait staff is just as amazing... our waiter was a 11 out of 10!!! As well is the ambiance of the Claddaugh we had the best table in the house and the greatest dine out experience since we have been in Charlottetown!!!

DELICIOUS SEAFOOD, and wonderful customer service, special kudos to waiter Andrew! I had the half dozen of local oysters, and the lobster dinner. Paired with sangria for a light cocktail or freshman. Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!! Service was great. Busy little spot.

Dan Tuson

Extremely fresh oysters. Large variety. An amazing treat from the ocean. Brisket burger was good. Side of Irish mashed potatoes was tasty but portion size was small. For $22, offer a bit more potatoes as there's not a large cost to the kitchen. And pays of hugely in customer satisfaction. My guest liked her PEI striploin steak; lots of flavour and tender

Cody Rogers

Great food, nice place, excellent service!

Tim Chang

Everything was spot on. Very good oysters. Fresh & subtle black garlic mussels. Delicious creamy lobster risotto. And excellent sticky date puding. Besides that the waiter was very friendly.

Matt McLean

Waiter was polite and professional. Lots of quality dinner options. Chowder was fantastic. Great atmosphere.

Food was incredible. Service was absolutely awful. We left an hour after arriving, after the starters as we still hadn't ordered the mains. We had empty plates and empty glasses for nearly 15 minutes before asking for the machine.

David Coletto

Jeanette Fougere

A1 food and service...just what we needed

Kerri Miller

This was our second visit a few years later as we are visiting again and there are no words to describe how incredible the food and service is. Anne was our server tonight and she was so lovely. Super helpful, funny and attentive. The kale caesar salad is unique and surprisingly excellent and my husband started with the oyster Rockefeller and he loved them. The lobster risotto is to die for and my husband had the pork belly surf and turf and it was amazing. Highly recommended for a special occasion or for a nice evening out.

One of the best meals we ever had at a restaurant. Our sever(Andrew) was the only thing better than the food. Best scallops I've ever had.

Valeria Feo

Takuma Yokoyama

Rebecca Mackenzie

A delicious meal and attentive staff. We were allowed to enjoy our meal at our own pace and never felt rushed, even though they were turning away customers because all tables were full.

Allison Smith

Very good it was -- but as good as the cost? Charlottetown downtown is a tourist area and the Claddagh is part of that, so there's no harm in saying that they do charge what they can, and should, during the season. But if one were to travel up further away from the busy tourist areas, such delicious food may be found for less of a tourist cost. But then you might not know where to go! And as such is the dilema between the tourist and the travellor. PEI is, as far as I have experienced, such a friendly place, that you'll never go wrong in asking a few locals where the best food would be.

Valerie Renk

Great oysters! Try the PEI potato vodka. Bar stocks good liquor. Service was great, bartender was super friendly

The food here was insanely good. The lobster risotto was so flavourful and the beet salad has sponge toffee in it! Who knew this would be a perfect flavor combo. The steaks were cooked perfectly and one person in our party thought it may be the best steak he has had. The dessert, which was why I wanted to come here, was phenomenal. The waiter made sure we were able to squeeze it in although we were on a bit of a tight schedule. Great service and so appreciated.

Antique E

Absolutely incredible dinner. Good drinks, delicious mains, and I can't say enough good things about the atmosphere for a cozy date night. Highly recommended.

Professional staff in a nice and upscale layout. The food has rooms for improvement. The surf & turf tastes acceptable but is overpriced (pork belly is salty and I don't really like the warm and soft cucumber). The highlight of that dish is apple raisin chutney but I need more of that lol. The ribs are salty as well. The seafood chowder might need a little bit more creamy or dense.

Fantastic service with a server who was attentive and friendly. Staff who career well to food allergies and sensitivities. Absolutely incredible oysters from all over the region. The best fried clams my husband has had in the east coast yet. Great ambiance as well. Definitely recommend reservations if you want to ensure you get a table, even on a Tuesday! Would go back for the oysters and service alone!

Was assaulted by bouncers for being there at closing time. My girlfriend and I were here at closing time and had drinks we had paid for the bouncers didn't like that we were finishing them before leaving. they spouted insults at us and proceeded to force us down the stairs by pushing from above someone could have been killed.

Thomas Delevacque

Top notch restaurant! Personable, prompt service, classy atmosphere with a really cool water wall, and the food is amazing. Every dish, from appetizer to meal to dessert, was delicious. I never order Surf and Turf, but the unique pairing of Asian-inspired pork belly and apple-raisin chutney scallops was flavourful and scrumptious.

An incredible dinner! Staff was awesome and the food delicious. One of the best chowders I have had in a long time and the mains were made perfectly. The pork belly and scallops were delicious. We called ahead and no reservations available - no problem. Can we eat at the bar? Absolutely! How many seats at the bar? 2. Okay. We arrived at 6:15 - 2 seats available at the bar. Great! No, you can't eat at the bar due to Covid restrictions. I explained that we called (and we ate at the bar at the restaurant next door the night before with every seat full) to make sure we could eat at the bar. We were told no. Won't be back ever!

Claddagh oyster House is where we have dined for special occasions over the years. Our 25th, with friends and family reunion were here. Perhaps it is because of Covid-19 that the atmosphere seems to have changed in the aesthetic surroundings of Claddagh; very plain now. The waiter, for us, is personable and informative. The 'Valley oysters' amazing in flavour, presentation and flavourings. The mains, Salmon and Haddock , were full of flavour with their special creamy sauce. Both mains were about 30-40 seconds over cooked as the expected moisture and flaking wasn't there. Merchantman pub n grill still our bench mark for Haddock. We'll be back.

Natalia L

I visited this restaurant with my father on our quest for seafood in PEI and we were not disappointed.. we had an oyster sampler they brought us 2 of each of 5 different oysters with lables so we could ID what we were eating.. very nice.. I've had samplers at other places never came with ID card.. then we tried the muscles.. tasted wonderful, then we got into the mains.. My father had something they call Galway Bay.. Shrimp and Scallops, he loved it.. I ordered the Fish Stew, not really a good name for it.. but WOW, it was so full of seafood and flavor, amazing.. Lobster, Muscles, Scallops, and fish.. with a nice thick slice of a very dense bread, toasted.. ahh had to attempt desert.. Dad went for the bread pudding, that's enough for two.. and I did share.. it was heavenly, rich smooth and delicious, I ordered the Sticky Date Pudding, and glad I did, was perfect size desert and oh so rich, 2 thumbs up. So if your in town, want a GREAT meal.. and willing to pay for good food.. This place is a must try.

James Keast

Absolutely phenomenal. We went two nights in a row because the food and service were so incredible. The Colville Bay oysters are fantastic. We also tried the mussels of the day -- they were apple, cheddar and lime, and surprisingly delicious. Ohhh and then there was the seafood chowder... So. Damn. Good. Their "Galway Bay" dish is to die for (and even better when paired with the colcannon potatoes). The lobster risotto was quite good as well. Last but certainly not least -- the sticky date pudding... mouthwatering. All in all we had a really great experience both nights we were there, and would highly recommend.

Before I get into the food I'd like to thank the staff at Claddagh for a great night, and a superb dining experience! Where to start? The atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing. Understated class with a modern splash, just a beautiful place to eat. The food! The mussels were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked, the smell was mouthwatering and the taste lived up to my expectations and then some. The sauce coated them perfectly, I wanted more but I knew I had to save room for the star of the show. The lobster dinner was perfection. This is PEI, a lot people do lobster well and I'm sure the Claddagh dinner is up there with the best of them. The service was infallible. Cathy was absolutely charming and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. She helped us pick the perfect wine to compliment our dinner and made us feel like we were her only table. Damn this place is good. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely.

Steven Livingstone

Meal was very good. The service was friendly and efficient. A very pleasant meal with two good friends.

YOU WIlLL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. After having a great experience here in the fall of 2016, my wife Mandy and I drove all the way from Miramichi NB specifically to enjoy the food, service and atmosphere that the "Claddagh" provides. Our new friend and hostess Cathy was more than perfect. Our table was ready at the reserved time, food was beyond words delicious and the wine combined with the four course meal we had was never rushed or cluttered on the table. Timing was perfect. Relaxed and refined at the same time.... All round a perfect place for a romantic evening. We will be back as soon as we can. See you soon!

Stephen Eichler

Treat yourself to some incredible local seafood at Claddagh! I was in Ch’town visiting and a local suggested this little gem. I had the chef’s four course special and asked for it to be seafood heavy and they delivered. It was $60 (I think that’s more than they normally charge but I did ask for seafood) and every course was better than the next. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back!

We took our friends from BC here for dinner on Thanksgiving night (Monday Oct 9, 2017) - absolutely top notch food and service! I would recommend this place to anyone willing to listen, and I have eaten in many, many fine dinning establishments right across this fine country over the years. Claddagh House is one of the best! Our food was fresh, hot, delicious, and presented with an attention to detail that was very, very pleasing to the eyes. People eat with their eyes before eating with their mouths, and all our plates were truly eye appealing. The Lobster Risotto was delicate, flavorful, and just the right texture. The Claddagh Surf n Turf was an innovation on the old classic that was presented well on the plate and went down even better. It will be my next meal. The local Halibut was seared on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. A truly memorable meal. Cathy - our server, and a fixture at the Claddagh is so friendly and outgoing, yet with the wherewithal to know just when to either leave the table alone or to join in and contribute to the conversation. She is very friendly, helpful, and made us feel as though we were part of her "family" and eating in her dinning room. The food, and the atmosphere were great but Cathy's attentiveness was outstanding. Cathy's recommendation of the Fig Pudding (chef''s own recipe) for dessert was spot on and topped off my meal to perfection. Even my wife (who doesn't like figs) had a taste and said that she wished she had ordered it for herself.... although her Triple Chocolate Cheesecake was a masterpiece in and of itself. I am glad that the Claddagh House is in Charlottetown (where we recently moved to) because we will certainly be back - and soon!

Went to go to a different restaurant but they were packed so we stumbled upon this one instead. As someone who is allergic to fish the restaurant doesn't have many options but the options it had were delicious! The waitress was lovely as well, offering me a taster of this cream ale I was asking about as she didn't drink ale herself.

Mathieu Coulombe

Lobster was fantastic, as were the oysters. Probably one of the best dinners out I've ever had. Service wasn't great in the beginning, but did improve later on. Kip - pay attention to all of your customers equally! If service was better, would have been 5 stars.

Rr Rr

I had the salmon with potatoes and it was so delicious!

Brian DaValt

A little expensive for the area but the seafood dishes are really good and the portions are decent, compared to other upscale dinning options in Charlottetown.

Lobster risotto had good flavor, but the lobster itself was a tad overcooked.

Matthew Valenti

Lovely place, well decorated. As beautiful for the eyes than the mouth. Nice and friendly service. They open oyster really fast in front of your eyes. They gave us the brand new hot sauce that wasn't even on the market yet, and it goes perfectly with the oysters.

Excellent service from our waiter last night. Great with our pre-teen/teen girls - very accommodating with picky eaters. Oysters were fantastic. Steak was tasty. Beautiful ambience in front of waterfall wall.

The mussels could have been better. The smell of some bad mussels over the seasoned broth made me smell each one just two find four that would have made you sick in a few hours. The meat could only be cooked well done. The chef's hand was heavy with the salt. The drinks are measured and the server was doing you a favor to take your order. Too many more places to go in the area to find better.

Very good seafood chowder and specialised coffee. The atmosphere was ok, but we were pretty early.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful dinning experience. We were enchanted by the decor and ambiance. The service was flawless and friendly. We really had fun tasting out a selection of fine oysters. The accompanying dishes were refined and perfectly balanced. Finally the cost was very honest for that part of town and granted the quality of the meal.

Recent went there. Not as good as expected. Too much salt, food is just ok.

Poisoned me withe the overpriced oysters, burned the surt and turf. Service was ok for the price. Pick your money and go to a better priced place wirh better service food and prices!

Gavin Andrews

Very good food and of course, good beer selection. The food is way above the standard pub fare. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The two problems our group noted were the noise level, which is a bit excessive (the place is popular and crowded) and even though we had a reservation, we had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. But overall it was a really good experience.

Oyster Bar - They do it right! This place brags a big game that they are ranked #1 in PEI for Oysters. I’m a big fan of Oysters and you can get them elsewhere cheaper for sure, but I keep ending up here for the experience, variety and atmosphere. Several other ‘Oyster Bars’ in the area are either all about the alcohol/Oysters, too loud or high turnover - this trip I had my 12 year old with me who wanted to see them shucked, try different types and learn about the experience of eating them - we don’t do this often so it was a big deal. We’ve been in PEI for a couple days and other restaurants have them but they slap them on a plate and most of the brine spills, also most only serve one type daily. THIS was finally a full experience, shucked in front of us (the Oyster bar attendant saw it was a special occasion for my little guy and went out of his way to demonstrate and share)and plated perfectly on ice, separated by varietal. If you’re looking for a great experience, you have found it.

We had the chef's menu with wine pairings and it was great. Couldn't be happier with the food or the service.

One of our best dining experiences ever! We ordered the Mussels of the day, the Jerk Crab Legs and the Surf and Turf. The meal was absolutely decadent, the crab seasoning making you lick your fingers clean and the pork belly falling apart in the plate. And Cathy, our server, went above and beyond PEI's reputation of hospitality! I would recommend this place to anyone! Absolutely fabulous!
