Went to sushi Mong with my 5 year old. Service was friendly so 1 star. Presentation was great as far as the plate arrangement and decor of restaurant 1 star for that. The deal breaker was giving us forks instead of chop sticks, I might be a white girl but my son and me both have mad chop stick skills! We ordered a roll each and assorted tempura. We were charged 3 extra bucks for "real not imitation crab" and honestly the rice was way over cooked and flavourless, honestly it tasted like the sushi I make at home which is unacceptable... Also the tempura was expensive and there wasn't much of it. Also another deal breaker is the bathroom... One sink and one toilet were out of order, and the one sink that wasn't out of order barely worked like barely any water was coming out of the tap so I couldn't wash my hands... Deal breaker. I will stick to mikis sesame sushi from now on. So much for trying something new... Lol

Wow! Whenever I eat at a new restaurant, I always read the reviews. Mainly, the 1 & 2 star reviews. There are way, way too many of those for this restaurant, specifically complaining about the food, which says a lot about the people leaving the reviews. This is a fantastic sushi restaurant and is *extremely* fairly priced! Me and a friend had 7 rolls, an appetizer, and 2 sides of rice for under $60. The quality was awesome, very fresh ingredients and amazing flavor. I've eaten at 30+ sushi restaurants all over the island, and this is safely in the top 5. Staff are super friendly as well! Definitely worth coming here and I'll for sure be coming back the next time I'm in Campbell River!!

The service is attentive and friendly The sushi ???? freshness is good It is a bit heavy on the sauce that is added to every roll you order. I think it takes away from the flavor of the actual ???? roll. I wasn't able to taste the fish. The rice in each roll that I had was fresh and nicely rolled. Every roll is super filling so be careful how much you order. Overall it was a good experience, minus the overload on sauces.

We've tried almost every sushi place in Campbell River but made the mistake of trying this one second. Now we can only go to new ones if Sushi Mong is closed. They are our favourite by far. We would go more often if their hours were better.

Went here with my family tonight. The wonderful staff took time from running around to stop and listen to my 4 year old daughter. They honestly were among the greatest staff I have seen in the food service industry, and I worked in it for 14 years. And the food! THE FOOD! So good!

We were visiting Campbell River from Vancouver, so we know our sushi! Our experience was fantastic. There were 5 adults and 4 kids under 8. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Sushi was fantastic. Service was great... warm, friendly and prompt. They had kids coloring items for the table and a pail of different goodies for the kids to select something from on the way out... a nice little touch. Loved this place. Wish they had a location in Vancouver. If I’m back in this town I will definitely come back! :-)

The atmosphere was great. The cherry blossoms hung around the restaurant, and the beautiful house music really made the experience that much better. The food was very good. I didn't like some of it, but that was due to my own taste. The staff was very friendly as well. I look forward to coming back again!

The specialty sushi was premium quality, great presentation and service was good. I moved here from Richmond and there is a Japanese restaurant every other block and this one rates in my Top 5. A little slow getting the first few orders to the table but then they came out one after another. It was a full restaurant so its understandable that it took awhile (45 minutes). Overall the food was so good I'd five it a 6 Star if I could.

A couple of the rolls were cut unevenly (some thin slices and some very thick ones) but it still tasted great and the portions were generous. We tried the Red Dragon roll - if you like a bit of a kick, it has a nice gentle heat and a very yummy flavour. We will be back!

The first time we tried Sushi Mong back when they first opened was horrible - we were served frozen sashimi! - but people keep telling me how good it is now so I thought I better give them a second chance. WHAT A BAD IDEA!! After waiting 12 minutes by the front door and empty front desk someone FINALLY came and seated us. We had already had plenty of time to read the whole menu, so we ordered immediately, and a half an hour later were finally served lukewarm sunomono. The sunomono was brown.... and tasted horrible - it had clearly been made with the wrong kind of vinegar. Then followed a course of completely flavorless tuna tadaki - a dish that should be quite flavorful, salty and spicy. And finally, the rolls.... the rice was not cooked correctly. They were bland. The cold one was warm and the warm one was cold. I've never left that much sushi on my plate before - I can finish a roll from the grocery store, boring as those can be, THIS WAS WORSE! I will never go back - I actually left the restaurant wondering if I should go to Miki's or Wasabiya to cleanse my palate. DON'T EAT AT SUSHI MONG!! Blech....

Just had the worst experience here. Came in and was told 30 minutes for a table so we waited outside then came in after 30 min. The girl taking care of the take out orders came out and told us that she “doesn’t know” with a horrible attitude. Then the guy came out and told another 20 minutes… Waste of time just waited an hour for nothing.

Friendly service, and the host brought our food out to the car for me (as I had arrived a wee bit early to pick up our takeout order, and went in to pay ahead before the food was ready). There was a fairly long wait for our order, however it was a Friday night and VERY busy, so was expected. The food was delicious!! ???????? We will definitely be back.

This place is great. Love the service here and the food is delicious. Miki by far was my worse experience ever. Miki was filthy dirty and the waitresses were rude. Not many businesses are in the position to fix up their places right away and or can afford to ...maybe offer them a hand instead. Koreans are the nicest most genourous people and usually will give their shirts off their own backs . I will always come back.

The right portions for the right price! I was so excited to be introduced to this restaurant that within days I had returned with more friends. The staff is knowledgeable, and easily accommodates their menu options to meet dietary restrictions. Cleanliness 5* (note, I did not use the washroom during my) Staff 5* The owners are an absolute delight. The support staff is also very polite and professional, but the owners being so personable are what really makes the place. Service 4* depending on where you are seated, it can be difficult to call on your server. Having said that, staff circulates frequently and different staff will check in on your table over the course of the meal whether you've been assigned to them or not. I like that. Menu layout 5* Menu options 5* (Note: I really wouldn't mind more clarity on some of the Japanese words that are used. I did have to pull up my phone a few times to clarify what I was ordering) Prices 5* Portions 5* (Prices-to-portions ratio is what really had me impressed!!) Parking ?* Street parking is available, and it's really not that busy after 5: 00, and I really don't feel like this is within anybody's control so no comments or feedback on this one. ????

I go here regularly and have always found the food to be authentic and the service excellent. The Miso is strong and flavourful, the sushi is fresh, and the Bento Box a good deal - especially at lunch!

Super flavorful and friendly service. The sushi is very elaborate and nicely decorated. It was definitely flavorful and well made. I noticed that they use a lot of sauce on their rolls. Not that this is bad, but it made use of soya sauce unnecessary, which I am not used to. This place also has its own concoctions that it has named after various places here on The Island. The Mt. Washington roll was very yummy! My server was wonderful and very friendly. I naturally strike up conversation, but she was eager to listen to any stories I had (it wasn't busy). She even asked for my name so she could talk more friendly. All in all the experience was good and not terribly expensive, although my wallet was definitely lighter coming out of there.

Favorite place to treat myself to! The food is amazing, the staff are very kind and welcoming, wait times aren't to long, price is affordable. Only thing i can complain about is the the first time i ordered the chicken teriyaki with rice it was perfect. The second time not so much, the sauce was more like soup. Way to much water added to the point it was very watery had almost no flavor, and leaked into the bag (Was take out) Hopefully they fix that so i can enjoy it next time lol. Besides that no other complaints! Would highly recommend if you're craving some good korean/Japanese food ^-^

The service was nothing short of wonderful. The dinner box was delicious- perfectly seasoned chicken teriyaki, crispy, non-greasy tempura and the best miso soup ive had in years. The fried calamari was done to perfection and i couldnt believe how modest the prices were! My husband and i are first time customers that will DEFINITELY be back. I even got to take an order of Green Tea Icecream (TRY IT!) to go, cant wait to go again- and bring more friends! Youll need some help with the generous portions :)

Sushi Mong is an excellent place. They're Beef Teriyaki Box, that game with an assortment of other food, such as Nigiri, salad, and rice, was amazingly delicious. They're very fair on their prices, and value quality just as much as quantity.

Definitely a more formal sushi restaurant than anywhere else around, but the atmosphere is aesthetic, and the food is delicious. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, as I like to stick to a safe few rolls, but I always try something new here, and have yet to be disappointed! Bring a friend, bring a date, bring your parents, it doesn't matter. Great place with great food, excellent staff and decent prices. (Also they give you little chocolates with your bill, which is always a small victory in my books)
