We arrived short in time for another event in CR. Thought we’d grab a quick bite first. Brandy Lee was a fantastic server, friendly and incredibly happy to help us out. Rushed our order and suggested next time we pre-order with our arrival time! Food was awesome, fresh and tasty. We will def be back! Don't assume your customers don't speak Japanese. All we did was ask for no avocado on one of our rolls. The woman taking the order tried to suggest something else instead, the most expensive item in that section of the menu with the only ingredients in common with what we wanted being rice and nori. She then proceeded to have a shouted discussion with the kitchen from the register about it and how horrible no avocado was. When the food arrived, despite not being a spicy option, the food was so spicy it was inedible. Where do you get off telling customers what they want to eat and then intentionally screwing it up? We were considering making this our favourite restaurant in town and trying the one in Courtenay, but after this we will never be going back to either. The person you treated like trash is half Japanese and was raised in a Japanese household, they know what they like and are talking about. We were avoiding the spicy options because of a food allergy. That kind of service is just disgusting and you are lucky it's not the kind of allergy that causes anaphylactic shock.

Some of the beat sushi on the island. I used to go to their Courtenay location frequently before an arson forced them to close. So happy to see that they have reopened in Campbell River. I’ll be making the drive to get amazing sushi ♥️

I love their sushi, its definitely the best in town. My only issues are that with ordering take out-even if you call well ahead, be prepared to wait up to an extra 45 mins for your order. I've started calling at the time they've said it'll be ready, to check if it actually is before we go and have to sit outside for 45 mins. Small things get forgotten as well, like rice or miso thats supposed to come with a dish, so check before you leave. That being said, the food is great and I'll continue to order! I know its tough right now, patience is definitely a virtue :)

This has to be the best sushi place on this island based on price, quality and portion size. Price is spot on (especially the lunch box deals), portions are great and the quality of the food is amazing!! The spicy tuna and salmon rolls are killer and the beef teriyaki is super tasty. I never would have thought Campbell River would have great sushi but it does. This place is slightly better than sushi mong and stands ahead of sushi mong when comparing the quality of the fish.

Despite my two troll like Children who arrived with attitude and “feelings” this restaurant was amazing. The food was very well presented and it all tasted delicious. Friendly staff in a great location with reasonable prices. Campbell River is proving to be an amazing town for restaurants. So.... many good places to eat

Popped in for take-out and ordered the dynamite box. Very affordable at about $12-$13, with generous portions. The chicken was tasty and tender, although I prefer it with a little crispiness. Staff were also very friendly. However, there were a few issues: -gyoza were totally inedible. It was busy and I think they rushed my order. The result was gyoza that should have spent some more time on the grill. It was like uncooked cookie dough in a wet wonton wrapper. But meat. I spat it out. -dynamite roll was middling at best. Shrimp were clearly cooked much earlier in the day so freshness was lacking. End piece was about 1" wide, too. Good luck eating that. -all in old-school styrofoam, which I now have to take to the recycling depot myself, which is a nuisance. Lots of other packaging options out there to consider. Sorry, folks. Really wanted to give a high rating, but I can't justify it on my experience.

Great food! Have patience- they are slammed because they really are the best sushi in town and everyone tries to order from there. My best suggestion would be to call at the very least 2 hours ahead. Everywhere is short staffed. Think about this before you decide to damage the reputation of a great small business ❤

The sushi here is on par with most other places I have eaten at on the island, nothing really stands out. The service is sub standard. On my second visit to this establishment I stood at the front door for about 15 minutes while one waitress was loading take away orders, another was on the phone taking orders while management staff was watching the entire time from behind the sushi bar. This was after the lunch hour rush around 1:30 pm. There were several other folks waiting to get seated and to pick up orders. One lady told me she had ordered her take away at 11:30 am. My whole idea of eating out is to be served and pampered and not ignored. This pitiful service and I will not be back

Good food. Good service. Was understaffed when we came but the wait was well worth it. We ordered spicy ramen, tempura, and unagi. The portion sizes are generous and all of our food was excellent.

Horrible slow service, would give it a zero. Half an hour after arrival someone finally came and offered us water. The redemption waz the food. Served promptly and super tasty, although my sunomono salad was average at best. The rolls were excellent and larger than expected. Improve the service wait times for dine in and it's a top notch sushi joint. By Campbell River standards if nothing else.

My favourite sushi place around. The rolls are perfect sized (not too big, or too small) and there are so many for an affordable price. if you’re on a budget, or if you’re there to go all out on a nice meal, they have something for you. service is great and food is delicious EVERY time.

Service is very friendly but a bit haphazard. The food was good but it came to our table in a rather uncoordinated fashion with some served a while before others. They were busy but I think there is room for improvement around service and timing.

Best sushi in town; besides Wasabiya of course. If you're looking for affordable but not "pricey" sushi this is the place to go. The staff are very friendly and are fast at service and waiting on you. If you're looking for a take out they're great in getting your orders done in a timely manner. Over all, this place is one of my favorites.

Sushi was quite good, higher price point compared to other cities on the island. Service was terrible. Waitress avoided eye contact and rolled her eyes when we asked to order a second round. I usually don’t leave bad reviews as maybe she was having a bad day, but she brought a lot of that negative energy to our experience.

The food and atmosphere was amazing. The waitress wasn't great. It was super busy with take out. I think she must have been new but she brought my friend a take out box to bring his extra food home and didn't bring me or offer me one for approx 15 min. Getting the bill was another 10 min.

Waitness is nice but felt like she almost forgot us. Been waiting constantly to get service. Waited at least 15 to 20 minutes for the waitress to come over to my table. But I don't think it was the waitress who didn't do the job well. I think the owner should hire more waitress. Some waitresses seem pretty exhausted. Sushi was nice. Won't come back unless for take-out.

Sushi Jo's was such a wonderful place to eat at. They had wonderful service and an outstanding selection of sushi and various other foods. When you go inside, you're given the option to sit in these classic booths, which adds a very cozy atmosphere to the experience. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. I highly recommend the philly roll and wonton soup... truly a wonderful lunch on a beautiful Saturday

Save your money and mood. The servers are incredibly rude. They greet customers in one of two ways "do you have a reservation?" if you're dining in and "do you know what you want?" for those wanting takeout. I had originally wanted takeout but saw online there was a 90 minute wait, when I called they said that was accurate. However, as we sat down, walk-in takeout orders were completed within 10 to 15 minutes. One of them has zero knowledge about the cuisine. "Isn't donburi a soup?" she said to me and then when I approached the counter and said "can I pay?" she said "I don't know, can you?" and continued to say "I always ask what would an English teacher say?" I'm undoubtedly Asian and speak perfect English and even if I didn't that's just condescending. Food is average but with the service, you leave with a taste of discontent. Won't go back. Why spend hard-earned money where it's not appreciated or welcome?

Hands-down the best sushi in Campbell River, and quite possibly the best we’ve ever had. The Spicy Agadashe Tofu was utter perfection. Sashimi was bright & fresh. Spicy Tuna roll had perfectly balanced flavours, and the Vegetarian roll was as vibrant & delicious as it was beautiful. Highly recommend.
