I’ve had good food experiences here in the past but it’s not quite the same quality anymore. The burgers are always delivered or served with an overcooked hamburger patty. Unfortunately this has become a common occurrence in the past year. The staff here are awesome, but I can’t recommend people to order a burger.

Enjoyed fish tacos, although the meal was eaten on the patio on a cool day. I don't enjoy wearing my coat to eat. Should have done takeout. I had a Caesar, knowing its good rep here- it was good but a bit too spicy for me. I forgot to ask for low spice. Good service.

I will start off by saying that it was my first time going to this restaurant ; this place is awesome the food is amazing, little on the pricey end yet the food speaks for itself well for what I ordered it was . Customer satisfaction is on point our waitress never let our glasses get empty made sure we were happy with the food The only thing I will complain about is the portion size lol Other then that I will be coming back

Nice place for lunch/drinks. The patio is nice, the glass walls really cut down on the traffic noise. Salmon tacos are really good, but the side salad was definitely made with old lettuce.

We had a bite here while on holiday. Gluten free is important for us as my husband has a gluten allergy. Choices were quite limited here and we would not recommend it for celiacs. Being happy hour, there were a limited number of discounted food items available but they were out of the oysters we had requested. We did enjoy the flavour of the grilled shrimp and the ceviche was tasty. A little on the spendy side and service was slow despite the small number of customers. The patio is also somewhat noisy due to traffic. It feels like a place that is trying but still doesn’t have the staff it needs to be great.

Hi, I was only disappointed about the bar staff and servers not wearing masks. The young man who served us came within 1 foot away to greet us. We asked him to wear a mask. I have been at several pubs and restuarants around Campbell River and they all wore masks. I ask why are you not following these same guidelines? Other than that your food was very good So I feel your restuarant/pub, is not COVID 19 SAFE.

My parents wanted to go there for there birthday dinner , told me it was great etc. They have been dining there for years so made sense we went there. We went on a Saturday night . Very cute atmosphere, menu looked great etc. Unfortunately it went downhill pretty fast . Ordered a beer that never came . When asked about it , (10 min later) was told it was accidentally brought to another table. We received it not too long after that. Food took awhile to come out (not a huge deal) but when it did come out the busser dropped my dad's fish and chips onto the table . The girl that dropped it just said "omg" and walked away . Then another busser came over and asked what we would like done with it , we said we would like a new one considering the fish and fries went all over the table etc. Then a when a busser brought out the other plates instead of putting them down, holding the napkin he passed them to us , which were burning hot plates , then warned us after they were very hot . (A little late warning as we already held them lol ) Seemed like a lot of new ppl working , haven't had much experience in restaurants yet etc . Finally the manager or maybe owner? Came over to let us know the fish and chips were on there way , apologized for the drop of food etc, server apologized too etc. New fish and chips came out about ten min later , but my dad really wanted coleslaw as it states it came with it on the menu . Server told us they no longer made the slaw etc and have taken it off the menu . She was very apologetic. However on the website it still states it comes with coleslaw . After all these mishaps, I figured a dessert or meal would-be discounted. We pretty much finished our meals by the time my dad received his meal . Unfortunately when bill arrived, nothing taken care of. I wanted to speak to the manager but restaurant was filling up and things seemed a bit chaotic. So I just paid bill and left . I wish I didn't have to write this review , I was looking forward to this place but I felt it should be noted that if so many things go wrong with a meal , you should most certainly offer some sort of discount. Two stars because the margarita was great ! I attached a picture of menu on website stating it comes with coleslaw. Hopefully this was just an off night and the resto goes back to being better .

I have had food from Socals many times but this was my first time having actually sat in house since covid had hit. Service was horrible... I have never had such slow service for such a well rated restaurant. Me and my girlfriend tried on multiple occasions to flag our waiter, she would see us and walk away. It took our waiter forever to even get our order, and we had to wait a total of 15 minutes just to get a refill on water, and an extra 8 minutes for a refill on iced tea. When we received our order, things were forgotten and we had to wait AGAIN for even longer to just get a small side of Jalapeños. My girlfriend received more tomato (about an inch thick) than burger. Not exactly happy with the service for the price we paid.

Great food with lovely presentation, friendly staff, excellent location in willow point just by the sea walk (so you can walk off your dinner ;) ) and a very trendy interior. We love this restaurant. We went for a late lunch and they were so friendly and accommodating to our kids!

Great restaurant, probably will come back another day, but questionable service. Called about their dog friendly table, and instead of telling us it is first come first serve, they told us someone was just sat at the table. We were in the parking lot looking at the empty table. Honesty is the easiest part of customer service, and it wasnt there today. Left hungry today, without real or made up customers at the table.

Grabbed dinner there on a whim and the atmosphere was really great, lots of people laughing and having a good time. Our server who was also the bartender was very friendly and fun and the food was amazing. I had the beet salad with added prawns and it couldn't have been any better. This wasn't my first time there and I always really like the food!

I've lived in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Chicago and am now in the Okanagan. I've visited a lot of different places and this is a gem! We brought our 3 year old son here and we all loved it. My husband said, "This is ridiculously good". I would order the Tortilla soup for a meal the next time. We'll be back! It'll probably become our staple when in CR. Great job Socal!

Went here for my birthday dinner. Kids menu was great because my kid could pick something other than a burger or spagetti, like a chicken breast which she ate all of it. Parenting win! Our food was tasty, nice range of selection. The ceasers are really good. Only thing we would complain about was, no refills on sodas. You have to pay for each one and they fill it with a lot of ice, so no real value there. It was quite loud at dinner time, they would need sound barriers from the ceiling to cancel some noise but the atmosphere was great. I would come back again to try other things on the menu. I would have given this place four stars, but the refreshment refills need to be up to speed.

Our table started with the Tatchos which are tater tot natchos which everyone really enjoyed. I had the enchiladas. They needed some more spice and flavor. They were really lacking in heat and acid. Need to add some Cayenne, lime and cilantro. My Mom had the burrito which I also tried and it had the same issues. Overall not bad but need some work on that genuine Mexi-Cali flavor.

I'm not from the island and I'm always looking for quirky places to dine at this one takes the cake their menu is to die for such awesome options super large menu as well. Their taps are great and unlike in Alberta they do serve lucky. Must be a bc thing I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting good old Campbell river. Perfect location and a even better patio for summer months!

We had a couple mishaps in our dinner tonight. The manager Chris, came to the table and made things right. We left wondering what we are going to have next time we come there. The food all looked great going past our table, my friend swears she is cursed so maybe I'll try it again with out her, but she's buying so maybe not.....we had nachos with a big clump of cheese and dry natchos underneath, water with an unexpected guest, a micro scopic spider, I didn't see it and almost drank it..the remake natchos were gonna come out not as ordered which were caught before delivering to table.....although we had mishaps we are gonna try this place again, because the flavors were amazing fresh and we live in bc and consume spiders daily that we never see anyways, I just saw this little guy and I wasn't gonna be sucked into it's web of liquid despair.

Not dog friendly, despite what the website says. Waited 20 minutes with our dog to get turned away despite there being 8 open tables on the patio. Apparently they only allow dogs at a single table and there were people sitting at that table. Obvious management issues and gaps in training of young support staff. We were told by the host they had a table available to us, only to have the manager come out and tell us they couldn't seat us since the single dog friendly table was occupied. Kind of frustrating since we walked 40 minutes with our dog to get there specifically because the website stated they were dog friendly.

We were told of a nice place to eat where there would be live music. Sounds great! NOT! The service was HORRENDOUS!!! Never again! We came in and made a reservation in the afternoon for 6:00 that evening, as the lady at the 'check in' desk told us the music started then. When we got there, two different servers said there was NO MUSIC any more on Saturdays, only Fridays! We ordered beer (I ordered gluten free beer) and our starter and dinner. The waitress was indifferent towards me when I asked her what an item, Seafood Cioppino, meant. She said she didn't know. When I asked if she could find out, she suggested a meaning. I said she could ask someone for me. She ignored my request. I ordered the dish, stating I was gluten free. That is when the meal experience became really negative. (I gave my husband a play by play of what would happen the rest of the night, because the server was not happy with me. It played out as I predicted.) She brought the starter, Chili Lime Prawns, they were delicious! Another server came by to take away our dish, (she was a delight; attentive and helpful.) We asked her for a spoon to eat the drippings. She brought it, along with more napkins, and asked if there was anything else she could do for us. Lovely girl! When our meal came, the garlic toast on top of mine was NOT gluten free! I asked our server about it, she said she forgot. I said I would just give it to my husband and she could get me a gluten free bun instead. She said it would be extra because no toast was given with gluten free order. No mention of that when I ordered. She also argued with me, stating that it was not garlic bread, but chili lime bread! Honestly, read the menu! I said she could give it to me for free to make up for the mistake. She continued to argue, and said she needed to ask her manager. This took some time. The manager walked by once without stopping (probably to check the situation out), and when she did stop to talk with me, she defended the server, she argued about the bun costing $1.50, and tried to make me feel guilty for demanding to be given the bun for free! She finally, reluctantly gave me the bun for free, though I had to wait and was nearly finished my meal when it came. It was $1.50! I could have sent back the whole plate which cost $22.95!!! Seriously! No tip for them!

Very busy but very pleasant atmosphere. This definitely has a wide array of food selection on its menu and they constantly seem to have different weekly and daily deals. They also have live performances on the regular apparently. The beer selection is great and the food tastes delicous. Above all, the service was fantastic. Definitely a must eat in Campbell River!

Overcharged for beer and two Caesars, spoke with acting manager had to make special trip to see owner Linda on Tuesday, received refund for overcharges, no refund on tip, no discount on next meal ....when asked if there had been a sales review if any a on cother customers were overcharged for caesar specials on Sunday March 22, response was the , acting manager should have done that, owner was hesitant and unsure . So if anyone had a ceasar on Sunday March 22/2019....you may have been overcharged

We always make sure to do our research before going to "pet friendly" establishments and this place had reviews out of the park. After over an hr drive with my husband and our little very well behaved guy, we were told they aren't allowing it due to "limited space" . Funny thing is that we saw toddlers in high chairs "taking up" a lot more room than a well behaved dog under an owners chair. Too bad as our guy has his own Instagram page that is based on reviews from other pet owners so unfortunate we couldn't add this to his roster. Not to mention that being a mother of two, I know that an older couple with a pet would not only drive more revenue but also a less negative experience for other guests than a young child.

We were impressed the moment we walked in the door. Staff all treated us with a warm, genuine hello. Clean, friendly atmosphere with a live musician on the patio. Food was delicious and plentiful. Looking over at other patrons dishes, I can't wait to go back and try other selections. Every team member were exceptionally attentive as the walked throughout, cleaning plates, refilling water glasses or to assist in any way. I have never experienced such exceptional service. Kudos SoCal for going above and beyond!

I've been to SoCal accompanied with friends several times and found the restaurant to be very friendly, accommodating with great service. The food choices just wonderful and served to perfection. I have been to socal many times. Most of what i have had for food and drink has been pretty decent... good but not mind blowing. The hot wings however were among the worst ive ever had. And for $16 bucks you better be brining some A+ wing game. Probably be going back because there isnt many local options for patio/ pub in the area.... but never getting the wings again

I have a sever sensitivity to capsaicin. Not your usual 'oh, this is too spicy' but my mouth feels like it is literally on fire with even the smallest amount. And, I know this is probably not the type of restaurant I should be at, but when your invited you make do. So... having found something on the menu that could be easy adjusted and informing the waitress on my allergy/sensitivity issues i order. The soup of the day described as a potato cheddar truffle mixture sounded good. Burger no chipotle and upgrade to the poutined fries. Sounds easy enough... soup was a curry potatoe something or another took 30 min. for the three sips worth of heat to subside, but my daughter enjoyed it. My main arrived with jalapenos on top of my poutine, send that back. Burger done right if not a little over cooked and finally after a long wait my poutine showed up very tasty but a little more demi would have been nice. The rest of my party enjoyed there meals so as usual. No compassion offered, but...

The server was slow, didn’t write anything down. My son requested no ice, he got ice, when he asked for water, no water. cocktails were not made properly, my mojito was just limeade with more lime inside and some mint tossed in, not rubbed, smashed or so much as torn, even after my comment of the first one being extremely sour (my spouse can’t taste, he drank the first one, second one was sent back as it was twice as sour) food took forever, was burnt, over seasoned and just lacked any care whatsoever…. which she would have known had she bothers to come back for a quality check. We get the bill, mojito still charged. While obviously looking for my server, another server approached me, and only then she comes running up now suddenly realizing her alleged error. We paid $120 half eaten meals for 3, and 4 drinks. If I were any less of a person, I would have left no tip at all. Almost wish I were. Great menue though, someone’s hard work and creativity is being sadly Butchered. We were looking forward to eating there the whole 1.5 hour drive. What a disappointment. Would have been better off going through a drive thru. -5 stars.

We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. So we chose out on the patio. The hostess told us our server would be right with us. We never got water or anything. Waited 10 minutes, server went to the table right beside us and never came to us. So we left. Disappointed.

Just came here with my husband and I and our fur child based on all the positive reviews online about being "pet friendly" only to find out that they do not allow them on the patio. We drove over an hr so was very disappointed! considering no where on their website has this been updated. The reason was due to "limited space" but yet toddlers in high chairs are allowed which take up more room???? Won't be coming back even without our dog. Lack of communication is one of the main reasons of dis-satisfied customers. Funniest part is if you compare the bills and spent at your establishment let alone the nuisance to other customers or cost in cleaning etc. Responsible pet owners with well behaved pets exceed revenue. Good luck.

We ordered food last night and it was absolutely terrible. I ordered the fish and chips to share with my son and as we cut into the fish the batter was completely raw on both pieces. The wings were cold, bland and slimy and the burger was mediocre. I spent $80 on food from this restaurant that was literally thrown into the garbage. Very disappointing.

This is the best place in Campbell River. We went in for dinner and were greeted within seconds by the friendly service staff who showed us to our table on the beautiful patio which is surrounded by plants and birds. We ordered bruschetta which was top notch, the ceviche which was amazing and a huge portion and a prawn salad that was soo fresh and delicious. SERVICE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FOOD ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PRICE ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ SETTING ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're travelling through Campbell River this place has to be on your list!!!

This was the worst dining experience that my wife and I have ever had. Ordered tapas and a beer. Beer was cold, so that explains the single star. The problem there was it was in a bottle.... no offer of a glass. Then we waited 45 minutes for our food which never arrived. The waitress tried to explain this away saying it was because it was busy. IT WAS NOT BUSY. We decided to leave, but even that was made difficult. They were busy now trying to cancel the order instead of trying to make us change. I should have just walked, perhaps then I would have cought someone's attention. NEVER AGAIN.

Oh my goodness. Hats off to chef Dan on the latest freshsheet menu item. The Vacant Growler pizza.. ..nothing vacant about it..except your growling stomach for three days...my taste buds have been infused with what I assume is angelic bliss...let's start with bison meatballs which alone would have been enough...but not for Dan..let's add pineapple..not regular pinnapple..lets carmalize it first. And add cheese...managuetois....ya I said it..3 cheeses. Beer infused crust is the foundation on this masterpiece. Roasted Pablano peppers..thanks Pablo...asiago cheese graces the final touch with shaved pancetta....I'm in heaven...oh wait no it SoCal!!!

I got charged $27 for a "double nachos" and guacamole that was barely enough food for one person. The price of the "double nachos" is not listed on the menu so I was unaware when ordering it that that I was paying more than was listed, which was $17. Who would pay $30 for nachos? Super annoyed. The guacamole was also half of an avocado not mashed up, not worth paying extra for.

Waited 40 mins for a overdone steak with cold veg. They forgot the prawns then tried to come up with some story about how the prawns were over cooked and they were cooking new ones. This is bullshit as our server didn't even know we had ordered prawns in the first place. Save your time and money. This place is a dog with fleas

We came in for a family dinner and from the moment we walked in we felt so uncomfortable steve was our waiter and just ruined our night he seemed to have a personal problem but was projecting it on our table the entire meal. We arrived at SoCal on a busy Friday evening. We were greeted almost immediatley and were told that a hostess would be right by. I don't think it took 30 seconds to be greeted and taken to a table. Our waiter was there within a few minutes to greet us and take a drink order. I had a Caesar, my wife a red wine. The Caesar was tasty but it was in a pint jar, which is too much mix for the standard 1-1/2 oz. of vodka. We ordered, my wife a seafood linguini, myself, a seafood gumbo. Both meals arrived at the same time, a nice touch. The food was great! Live music in the background, there was energy as the place was hopping. The service was very good. We'll dine here again!

Surprised at all the great reviews here. We started with drinks: a margarita, mojito and a Moscow Mule - all were very watery and tasteless, I switched to a double vodka and soda after that and it was also watery, no hint of vodka in it at all. For appetizers we had the totchos which were soggy, lukewarmt and kind of tasteless; the chili grilled shrimp - no hint of chili - again tasteless; the stuffed jalapenos - not bad but just meh. Our mains were: chicken fajitas - the chicken/peppers mix tasted like it had Greek seasoning on it, there was absolutely nothing Mexican about them, the rice and the beans were very weirdly sweet - we were told there was lime cordial in the rice - what??? -the most prominent ingredient in Lime Cordial is sugar???? it was bizarre; battered fish tacos - the tortillas were not warmed even a little, the batter on the fish tasted like pancakes (sweet) and the slaw was also sweet (must have put lime cordial in those too). I had the seafood linguine - the sauce was not bad, the pasta cooked fine, the prawns overcooked, the salmon fishy and if you don't know what a swimming scallop is, don't expect to taste a succulent scallop. Instead expect something that looks like a sheep's eyeball and tastes like a squishy, very fishy oyster blech, I choked down one and left the rest - not their fault really, I should have clarified what a swimming scallop actually was, the dish was served with a limp, barely toasted piece of tasteless toast(ish). Anyway it was all around disappointing. On our $180 tab, the Manager took half the fish tacos ($8.50) off the bill. Certainly wont be returning, especially while they are putting lime flavored sugar water in everything. Music was good.

Honestly, I've given this place three tries and it's failed to impress me all three times. I find that even though the service is pretty good, the food always disappoints. Especially at the price point they've chosen... Really not worth it. The first time I went, was on a Saturday night and I'm fairly certain they were completely underprepared for what it means to provide service on a weekend. My husband and I ordered tapas dishes and they took, easily, half an hour to get to our table. When our food finally did arrive, it was over done or cold... No in between. The second time I came here, was for lunch with friends and for all three of us, the burgers were just okay and the fries were under done. The third, and final, time I came here everything was just mediocre! FYI, don't bother trying the "Totchoes". It's literally just a small bowl of tater tots with melted crappy cheese and a sprinkle of dried out onions, peppers, and tomatoes. I even had to order a redo because my first batch was WAY over cooked. I don't know where the issues lay with SoCal, but its strength is definitely not in the food.

Accidentally was served ghost pepper sauce wings. My friend drank and exhobant amount of ice water which they did not charge us for which was nice. My friend said he can't eat chicken wings again and is traumatized. I will be going back for wings because bad decisions are always fun when you were raised catholic and things are supposed to hurt even if you love things the same way love chicken wings with all of my heart. Why doesn't religion want me to eat my wings in happiness!??!?!?

Service at SoCal was excellent although the extent of my visit was an alcoholic beverage between 4 and 5 PM. The service was excellent, the beer very good tasting and ice cold on a hot day. The premises were clean and comfortable and very nice outside on the patio.
