Ricky's has been closed for a time, but now it's open again. Yesterday, I decided to test it out. I was hungry for breakfast, but I also wanted a burger. I settled for the burger because of the picture on the menu. The problem was, the picture didn't do the burger justice. What I got was EXACTLY what the picture looked like except for one thing. The burger was REALLY big! I mean for a 6oz meat paddy, the burger was enormous! I tried to put the thing in my mouth, and my mouth only went to the first of two tomatoes! I still had the onion rings and the lettuce to go before I reached the bun! I have never had to eat a burger before with a steak knife, but I had to today. Not only that, I had the burger with cubed hashbrowns and an egg. The egg was only 1.15, so I got to have my breakfast AND a burger! The price of the burger, hashbrowns, egg, and a cup of coffee was just over 20 bucks. For what I got it was REALLY reasonable. One thing though, they screen you to see if you've had your shot(s). So if you haven't, try a different restaurant. Also, Dukes does as well. One thing though if you go to Ricky's and decide to eat the burger, ask for an extra plate and bring a friend. The burgers so big, you can feed two people! (Although you may need to order fries or a soup for the other person.)

Twice we have been for breakfast. Service is good and friendly. Wait both times longer than they should have been for quiet restaurant days. Scrambled eggs overcooked and hashbrowns dry...both times. Not tasty. These are breakfast basics and now that weve been disappointed twice we won't return.

Went there for lunch. The hostess told us there was only one cook on duty. She told us it might take a while for our meal. We really appreciated this advice as we only had a limited time. We decided not to eat there at this time, but we will be back.

Took 50 minutes from order of food. No silverware for all of us to begin with. Had to ask 3 times for additional silverware. Food still hasn't arrived. Watched a group come in, they waited for approximately 10 minutes and left. Last time we were in, everything was great. Not sure what happened this time. Improvement is needed for an improvement on rating for sure.

Stale and flavorless food. Nice staff, but otherwise terrible restaurant. Unfortunately it's been this way everytime we go and after having a great experience at the Nanaimo location we thought we would give our hometown one another chance... but nope, it's still bad :/

Turning away customers is not good practice under any circumstances. lts not the right choice to not let certain people dine in because of their beliefs or health status. Under the canadian charter of rights this is 100% illegal. You cannot discriminate anyone from using the restraunt. What the government is doing is asking buisnesses to inforce a mandate which violates the charter as well as international human rights and privacy laws. No law or mandate supersedes the charter, and if it does, its null and void. This opens your buisness up to discrimination as well as privacy lawsuits. If you discriminate, you can be liable for violating these rights. The government wont help you if this happens. Do the right thing

We waited 30min after we were seated before our server showed up to take our order. We could see the other servers working very hard as it was pretty busy. But our server was noware to be seen. At the time of writing we have waited another 30min since we ordered. Will give it 15 more minutes before we leave.

Wonderful service, but the food was really bad. The pancakes were underdone and the sausage was inedibly burnt. There are better breakfasts to be had at better price points around town.

Our group of 3 popped in for lunch around noon on a Saturday, place was about 1/3 full. Got seated quickly, but took 10 minutes (and us asking) for the waitress to come take our drink orders. Took 40 minutes for the food to arrive, and the waitress explained they ran out of bacon... Don't get me started on how that would even happen, but sure, ok, you ran out of bacon. At lunch time. On a Saturday. Apparently that's the norm in this restaurant now, because it didn't seem to phase the waitress, barely an apology. This is the 2nd time in a row we've got here and spent over an hour and a half from sit down to bill payment. The irony is I knew this place was going to be a gong show yet I agreed to go anyway, needing a quick lunch to make a 1:30 tee time. I thought "oh yea, we'll get there at noon, have lots of time". Nope. Between the salty food and the completely unacceptable service times we won't be back.

Wow what a great experience for our group of old fogeys. The food was excellent and the waitress company was fantastic. The young lady kept us in stitches and the service was superior. We'll be back!

Horrible! I could hear the manager screaming at her staff from across the restaurant. Awful environment. I was there a few months ago, our host looked genuinely afraid. The food was disgusting and overall everything seemed a bit dirty.

Long waits at times its challenging to get good service during breakfast. Food is alright can he inconsistent. Staff is friendly, window blinds could use a cleaning. Really the Crux of it is inconsistent service very server dependent. Ide say good for breakfast. Most lunch stuff I will not touch again varies.

We went for the schnitzel special and we were not disappointed. The traditional hunter pork was very good and my wife enjoyed her chicken schnitzel. Great quick service also!

I'm sorry to say that we had at terrible experience this morning. We understand that they are short staffed - taking that into consideration though, our food took over an an hour to arrive after ordering. From there the food was sub par, and one of our party found a long hair in their food. Even more disturbing was when our server returned the hairy plate to the kitchen and we overheard her address the cooks by saying, 'Once again...' evidently this wasn't an isolated incident. ???? Yikes! We won't be back.

The waiter took 15 minutes to get us water and she said oh sorry its busy. There was only 6 tables with people and she was just busy talking. It took another hour for the food to come. She didn't come by to tell us about the wait for the food and didn't apologize once for the wait. The food was alright.

Never received a refill on drink, finished meal and platexsat on table for 20 minutes without anyone even coming to our table. Had to go to register to get bill as there was not a server on the floor. Had really hopes thongs had gotten better. When communication with staff did occur, they were friendly :)

I used to be a regular then the service and food quality started going down hill. Then they closed for Reno’s. Today we decided to give them another try, sat there for 20 mins and no one even came to talk to our table. It wasn’t even busy maybe 3 tables. We left cause that’s a sign of the service to come. Not going to be going back there again. Sad I was really hoping they had made some positive changes.

My wife and I have been to Ricky's about 12 times in the past 6 months and each time we have been served by this waitress Lynn who apparently has been there for 20 yrs. Considering this, we have been a little taken aback with her poor/slow service each time but we do like the food hence why we have returned. Today I took my wife and her parents visiting for Christmas out for lunch and noticed a new face. The young lady who sat us down took our drink order and then the new waitress came by to let us know that she would be a few minutes to take our order. I was ok with that as I observed that the new waitress had 3 other tables sat down just before us that she had to attend to. With noticing this we understood how she needed some time. She did come by right away to let us know it would be a few minutes before she could take our order and we just appreciated her taking the time to do so. As she was trying to please everybody with quick service the table next to us (man and woman) the woman got very upset with her how her food was taking so long, She interrogated her if she had forgotten to put there order in and angrily threatened her how she was going to talk to Paulet who I assume is her manager. Sad how one knows the manager and threatens the waitress to speak to Paulet tomorrow and moreso not notice how a new server is simply doing her best. Anyways, Jade the server did take our order as quickly as she could and we were very happy with her service, the food was great. From my observation today, next time my wife and I come in we want to be served by Jade.

Something is different since Ricky's reopened. The server we had on Saturday was great. She was quick and anticipated what we would need before we asked. She was very pleasant which made the experience even better. The French Toast and burger were awesome. We will definitely be back.

Unfortunately I am very disappointed with my last experience at this restaurant. After being sat and brought our drinks my companion and I were completely ignored despite the restaurant being quiet and only a couple other tables having people at them. We waited over 20 minutes to be acknowledged, while also trying in vain to get either of the waitresses attention. We ended up having to leave, before even being acknowledged. When commenting on the lack of attention and the long wait, the waitress then proceeded to lie to me saying she had been stuck up front when I had been watching them both going back into the kitchen and chatting several times. I am not usually the person to write bad reviews but I am so insulted that they would lie to me on top of being ignored. Highly unimpressed and do not recommend this location.
