Amazing fresh halibut and chips. Super fast and friendly. Park across the street in the parking lot, no streetside parking.
Great setting with an ocean view. Solid cod and chips...they were out of halibut. Service with a smile, got called “Love” and “Dear”, and the beer was cold on a hot sunny day”
Any time we travel this way we stop at Dick's for fish and chips. They have a great batter recipe and tasty fries. They used to be right on the water but have since moved across the street near fisherman's wharf. More seating!
Big portions. Taste really fresh.
Awesome fish 'n chip joint. Generous portions and great service. Sometimes they sell out of halibut so go early.
Super busy place I ordered pick up they told me when to come I had to wait another 20 minutes they didn't explain the portion size very well so got way to much it was hot but soggy, greasy and bland. Even the coleslaw was not very tasty its like they forgot the dressing. We ate some because we were starving most unfortunately went in the garbage.
After reading the reviews, I guess I should have ordered cob or halibut. Instead, I ordered prawns and scallops + fries. The portions of seafood were small but tasty. However, the homemade fries needs improvement, the poutine is one of the worst I've ever had, with almost no mozza in it and a blend gravy.
I have only eaten take out from here twice . The first time it was kind of greasy and cold and just mediocre and that is being generous. We didn't bother to complain and I understand that many variables could have caused our lackluster food. We decided to try again awhile ago and it was barely mediocre and after our first experience that didn't provide lemon or tartar sauce we made sure we requested it this time around and again no tartar or lemon . It's too bad because I am sure they can do better based on other reviews that say so but unfortunately for me I got the food that wasn't pleasing not once but twice ????
Extremely hot inside and unorganized. Fish and chips were decent. Edit: Cane back today for lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was extremely friendly and the fish and chips were excellent.
Best gluten free fish and chips I have ever had! Hands down! Place is very busy so calling ahead for your order is helpful. Parking is extremely limited at the restaurant but lots across the street.
Takes a long time but pretty good fish and chips.
Went with a friend, both ordered cod burger, received half the amount of fish on my burger. Recommend avoiding this place
Ordered a Doubles D's Dog with onion rings substituting fries. They did not give me onion rings food was cold, meat was overcooked, the toppings were sliding out the sides so much so most of those toppings and sauce ended up soaked into the paper and not actually being eaten, as soon as I picked it up the bread fell into pieces. Gross enough I threw it away after a few bites.
Some of the best cod fish we have in a long time. The fries are the bomb. We ordered a family meal and there was to much food. It could easily have fed 6 adults.
What an awesome place! Yummy fish&Chips! OMG they are super delicious!!! You must try them
Made a detour, out of our way really, to have the halibut and chips here for the second time in our lives. The first time we were surprised at how delicious this meal was that we thought we'd better try it again to be sure we weren't mistaken. Sure enough, we were not mistaken, it was just as delicious as the first time, right down to the tartar sauce. Deep fried thinly battered halibut, it's a once every 5 year treat. By far the best fish and chips we encountered on Vancouver Island. I was on a mission to rate fish and chips everywhere we went on the island but nothing ever matched up the D ick"s. This is a very popular takeout place in Campbell River. I especially like the environmentally friendly takeout paper the meal is wrapped in, very authentic. Don't miss it if you're there and you just might want to take a detour.
They didn't enforce the maximum number of people in the lobby. The food was good and the servings were good for the price. Parking is poor as you have to park across the street in the marina parking lot.
TL:DR: incredible fish and chips, huge portions, so much tartar sauce, a little slow. I called to place a dinner order at about 5:30, and they were sold out. Great sign, so the next day we ordered lunch - still no halibut or salmon, but plenty of cod, which is fine with me, but the kids were a bit disappointed (heh heh heh). The pickup experience left a little to be desired, however, as we ended up waiting for the order 30 minutes after the time we were told it would be ready. No biggie, and again - great food, ridiculously generous portions, super, super tasty. We went through our order using several things of tartar sauce, and still had 10 left over. ???? I'd go back, without question, but I'd call back to confirm that my order is ready before showing up.
We had a great bite to eat at Dick's, enjoyed the view and awesome halibut and chips with a side of really good deep fried pickles!
Too pricey for average fish
No question the best fish & chips ive had since I was a young boy growing up in the south. There was a legendary place called Langford fish & chips. Fast forward 45 years i found its equivalent, the main ingredients are, fresh properly prepared fish, fresh coleslaw, real chips, and allot of attention and hard work to maintain the consistency that separates a long term restaurant from a flash in the pan. Thank you for letting me enjoy your food and bringing back memories of my dad and me when we use to go for real fish & chips. You have to try this but be careful its very addictive.
New location. Great FnC. Light batter. Nice thick fillets. May, 2017 update. Just not the same quality. Fish was dry and batter greasy.
Delicious food Love how food was presented. Very patient staff, our kids were super hyper and they were so thoughtful to give them their food first. Went the extra mile and treated our little ones to a scoop of ice cream. Had toys too for the kids to play with. Thank you.
Very friendly staff, pretty good food, reasonably fast.
This salmon burger is so tasty. Love the buns, sauce and especially the fresh salmon. Did the baked salmon, not fried so it wouldn’t be too much fried stuff. The portion makes you full for sure. Fries are nicely not too oily. Go down to the bay across the street and eat it... the best lunch ever!!
Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the great portions of good food. No frills, no nonsense, hole in the wall feeling establishment.
Great food, clean restaurant, super friendly owner. Thanks for a great lunch!
Best fish and chips in town! Halibut was cooked perfectly and the chips were delicious.
Was rather disappointed in our halibut dinner. We came to see a friend in Campbell River & they had gone 2 days before & had the halibut, which were good sized portions of the halibut. Ours including our friends halibut was super small, hers & mine should have made one piece. Also no coleslaw & they charge $.40 cents for an extra tartar sauce. The French fries were delicious & good sized portions. There is another place in Campbell River that we had gone a few years ago that was really good.
Greatly enjoyable. Fish was crispy and flavorful and tender. Fries were a delight.
Fried foods burgers fish chicken strips cezar salad etc beer ????
Friendly staff and fantastic fish and chips. I'll be back
They were out of halibut near end of day when we went, so one of our group missed out. Fish batter is thin, so it got a bit soggy from carrying home via car. Fish could've been better. Loved the chips! Great texture even after steaming in the paper wrapper on route home. We arrived on schedule after calling in & given a pick up time, but had to wait 20+ min as they were running behind with other orders. Front counter staff went back to help the kitchen staff & appeared to contribute getting orders out the door, but seemed the cooking side had challenges getting orders out. Don't go if you're in a hurry.
Great food very affordable fast service
Good food. Awesome view. Decent portion sizes. Fair price. Motorcycle friendly parking across the street in a parking lot.
This Fish n Chips restaurant is simply amazing! Offerings include Cod and halibut. No Haddock here. Though I am partial to haddock, I ordered the cod and did not feel like I was offered anything less tasty. Succulent, moist, flaking fish in a batter that runs the line between beer batter and the harder kind of batter that can be found from the Costco-offered "highliner" brand frozen fish. I also had the deep fried pickles. The best I've had. They are breaded. The breading does not slide off the pickle! You can multi-dip these babies!
Great little spot near the Pier. We had prawns & chips and Fish & chips and both were fabulous. On top you get friendly and smiling stuff! Definitely recommended ????
Friendly service, but a bit of an odd setup. The fish and chips were decent, but nothing to right home about.
Amazing fish and chips. Take out only. Nice people. Lots of food. 2piece is a big meal! But SO yummy!
The fish was great, the big disappointment was the chips were undercooked. That said 3 stars as it is fish and chips. Went here based on the reviews and was sadly disappointed because of the chips being undercooked, I mean who doesn't like good chips topped with malt vinegar to go along with their fish. Def not on point.
Great location. Parking is across the street beside the Marina. Family owned. Everyone was friendly.
We came for fish and chips and we were not disappointed. Great food. Will be back again. Quite possibly the best we have ever had. Get the halibut.
Perfect fish and chips, lightly breaded, FRESH. Excellent Prawns and chicken strips too! A++. We'll be back!
There's a reason why people are lining up. Delicious food, huge portions, old-school vibe.
I was too close to closing time, some items were unavailable, service was a bit off. However the food I picked was delicious. I'm definitely going back to try out more selections... a little earlier!!
The fish and chips are ok (extremely over rated) but the oysters and chips are fantastic. The best I have ever had. The loss of stars is for the unforgivable sin of serving white vinegar with fish and chips. Malt vinegar and only malt vinegar goes with fish and chips. White vinegar is for cleaning. If you don't understand this as a fish and chip shop you are most likely American and should open a burger stand instead.
The people were very nice. But the tartar sauce was cheap and tasted like mayo basically. The fries were mediocre and the batter was too. Also kind of over cooked salmon. And the cod was falling apart into pieces when I picked it up. To help mabye. The fries could be cooked a little longer, and salted after they come out of the fryer so the salt sticks to them. And the tartar should be upgraded. Oh and add a lemon wedge with each peice of fish would be good too.
Worth the trip to Campbell River. Perfect battered fish. Tried both cod and halibut. Coleslaw was only okay but you don't come here for the coleslaw
Waited 45 minutes for awful grilled cod - unbelievably BAD . Washrooms are filthy . Seating outside limited and patrons that have finished DON’T LEAVE. To give you a chance to eat. They sat there fir over 1/2 an hour . Car traffic the worst. I’ve eaten a lot of fish and seafood in my life and this was the worst and very expensive.
Great food. Batter on fish was light and tasty. Cod was very good. Popcorn shrimp was great. Tartar sauce very good. Staff friendly and efficient.
Recommended to me by a local and did not disappoint. Halibut was perfectly cooked for take away. Wrapped in paper it all stayed hot and crispy. One of the best fish’n chips on the island, I’d say.
Awesome place to take the whole family to eat, I visit there regularly every year when I spend a month visiting family and friends, one of the best around Campbell River
Food was good and the ladies were lovely. I had ordered ahead and gave a time for pick up but they did not tell me that they don't put the order in until the person gets there. I had to stand waiting for 30 minutes for an order that should have been ready when I got there. If it is only first come first serve don't take phone in orders!
Great fish and chips...exceptional service
Amazing food. They were out of halibut so we had the cod. It was way WAY better than I was expecting. Incredibly delicious
GO HERE! had the grilled salmon wrap and to quote my unlce "it was to die for" staff was super friendly, was called hun and darling 20 times haha. Recommend it!
Some of the best Fish & Chips I've ever had. Huge portions, delicious crispy fresh fish and fries. Fast, friendly, very clean service! Thank you!!
The portion is very small very disappointed. Will not return. 2 pcs of halibuts is just enough for 1 person.
There gluten free batter was amazing. First time getting from here and it all tastes amazing. I tried all three types of fish in their fish and chip combo as well and enjoyed all three kinds. Will for sure be back for more the homage fries were fantastic.
