My wife and I stopped in for an impromptu date night. We didn't know what to expect but pleasantly surprised. They had a nice selection of wine and an unexpected selection of fine whiskey. They offer a whiskey flute and the owner is very well educated in the whiskey experience. We shared the Flame cheese and the meat and cheese board. More than enough food for the two of us. Likely could have fed two couples. The meat and cheese board had a great selection hand picked by the chef. It was a great relaxing time out and left very relaxed and well fed. Great quiet spot for a couple or a small group of friends to share some company and some fine foods and drink.

We went here, last night, for drinks and appetizers. We had the lobster au gratin, and charcuterie board. The food was so tasty and amazing that we could have eaten it all night!! The service was extraordinary, and if you go for the hand made cocktails you will be blown away! Husband had a smoked old fashioned and I had a dark and stormy....wait for it....astonishingly delicious! Also had a maple bacon Cesar and Manhattan. A truly tantalizing experience for the body and mind! You will not be disappointed. Peter, the proprietor, is a hard-working and super friendly guy. We were in the best of care throughout our stay there. Go, go, go!!!!

When I first arrived I was greeted and my table was ready. I was served my drink quickly as I waited for my friend to arrive . When she arrived she was greeted and her drink arrived quickly as well. We were ready to order but our server did not return. 30 minutes passed and we still were not asked if we wanted to order .. but the table beside us that showed up well after us had ordered and received their food. My friend and I finished our drinks and left to another place to eat. Not sure that I will be returning . To bad it was a cute place we were looking forward to going to.

A welcoming place with a decent whisky/whiskey selection. Nothing extraordinary in the list, but a good range of styles. Quite willing to put together a flight for you. The "split board" platter of cheese, cured meats, relishes, etc. was quite good. A nice addition to an area not known for whisky bars.

Totally random find on a Thursday and we were pleasantly surprised. We had some delicious wines (that we were allowed to sample before ordering), and had a lot of time with the owner and chef discussing the menu. You could tell their passion for food & drink and the place had a cool vibe. We had homemade mushroom soup (delicious) pulled pork tacos, a nice chicken thigh dish and 3 hefty oysters. Honestly a really cool place that more people should check out. Looking forward to coming back

Went for a night out and chose a “flight night”. We ordered the cheese and meat boards along with a good generous sampling of 5 local beers from Ontario and 3 wine selections served in small glasses to try. The service, food quality and portions along with a warm atmosphere of a nice small eatery in historic Hespler area was a nice change

Very disappointing. The menu was limited and several things which we ordered were not available. We even called ahead to set a reservation, that they accepted. They however did "not" stress how another party, that they had booked, was going to limit their menu options. For an anniversary night we expected more than the "bums rush" to leave but we are to kind to say "Get Out we have more important and familiar guest coming tonight". The proprietor was not rude, but hospitality and a poor kitchen selection for an early evening "New" patron was on display. So, fine do try to attempt this location again, their will be a very high bar for satisfaction. The potato pancakes were nice. Service and hospitality...meh!

Cosy little joint with an extensive whisky menu. We were patiently given pretty impressive recommendations for cocktails and whiskies. They also do whisky flights and usually have some rare finds on their shelf. The food menu albeit limited is a good companion to the drink. Unfortunately they were out of the smoked caesar salad which sounded fantastic, but the breaded avocado spears and bruschetta were quite nice.

Please do not go to this bar if you want to be valued as a customer and treated with respect. I’m so disappointed with this experience. My family and I are from Hespeler, and planned our Saturday night at Aging Oak to support our friend Nick who is playing live music from 6-10. Unfortunately, after our multiple cocktails and bottle of wine, we were told at 7:50 that we needed to leave because they had reserved our table for another party at 8. We were not informed at any point during our reservation that it was for only 2 hours and we were told to leave within ten minutes of the other reservation. I’m really sad that my home community is operating in this unprofessional manner and am now with my family at home instead of at Aging oak, seeing and supporting my friend Nick. I’m hoping the restaurant will reach out and apologize for this embarrassing oversight. It is certainly harming their reputation in the community and they can easily treat their customers with more respect.

I heard about this place through a friend and while I was waiting for an order of food at another place I decided to check the place out. I saw that it advertised through signage that it was a whisky bar so I decided to see what they had for single malts--particularly Islays which are my favourite. They only had Lagavulin and Dalmore. I decided on the Dalmore. Although their scotch selection is not as extensive as other places that I have been, I was highly impressed by the owner and the social media director that answered all my questions and were genuinely interested in my suggestions. The most exciting part for me was that they intend to hold scotch, bourbon and wine nights. Also, they feature a whiskey of the month and starting July they will be featuring a Suntori brand Japanese whiskey. It is a great place with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Food is tapas style as it really tries to focus on the drinks. Would definitely come back here again, a perfect date place as the owner stressed that they really try to set the scene for one-on-one conversation (sans cell phone). Excellent.

My wife and I went for drinks and a charcuterie board. I love the warm feeling of this place. The bartender was great and gave us a little background for the restaurant. They had a great selection of local craft beers and the back bar was stocked with fancy whiskies and unique bottles. The Charcuterie board was tasty and plentiful however I did not find any unique items on the board. Not enough European or craft selections for my pallet. I would recommend this place for a quiet evening with close friends or a date.

Honestly, what a fun experience! A friend and I went for casual drinks after work and were blown away. They educated us on everything from how to smell the whiskey to proper sipping techniques. They are very knowledgable and are passionate about what they do. Additionally, the atmosphere was quaint and cozy. I highly recommend!

I’m a musician who plays at the Aging Oak frequently. I have absolutely no bad things to say about this fantastic Hespeler business. Peter, Melissa, Sean, Andrew, Francis, and the whole crew at the Oak do a great job of making sure everything is up to quality, and that everyone enjoys themselves. Wonderful place to eat and drink. Every time my husband and I attend , we are treated like their finest guests and I do see that they extend that attitude and treatment to all patrons. The food is phenomenal, and even better, the entertainment you receive from watching the chef and owner interact. We have attended a wine tasting here and were beyond impressed. The owner and staff are knowledgeable on all types of spirits and travel around tasting whatever they can to provide this community with the best. It’s the small things here that count. The little interactions, memories, details and decor. The menu and it’s changes and the added touches to meals you love to much. I am so proud to have this restaurant in our community and I hope they stay for good! We are certainly regulars :)

My first experience here was just okay. The atmosphere is lovely for a nice quieter evening, but the food was lacking in value. Someone in my party ordered the spinach dip and I kid you not there was probably 2 tablespoons of dip....for $13 that is not acceptable. Drink menu is pretty standard and on the high side of pricing.

The Aging Oak is back ... and even better! Last night we sampled a few of the items from the revamped menu prepared by The Aging Oak's new chef, Ryan Colley. Many of the choices looked familiar but Chef Ryan has added his own twist to both the flavours and presentation. We began with the Pear and Walnut with Brie flatbread, reminiscent of the old menu but elevated with the addition of some very flavourful pork cheek. Highly recommended! We were told that mussels are going to be a menu staple but the flavours will vary, which means we'll be coming back regularly to sample the different combinations. Last night's PEI mussels were served in a rich broth made from Amsterdam beer, red onion, marinara sauce and basil, and served with chunks of rustic bread. The mussels were fresh and perfectly cooked, and the broth was worthy of repeated dipping. Finally, we decided to be adventurous and order the Wild Mushroom Escargot Dip. This is a must-try for mushroom lovers! It's rich and earthy, and absolutely delicious with the accompanying breads. Not being one to order escargot, the dip was a pleasant surprise! Our dishes paired perfectly with a glass (or two) of Pinot Grigio and a sampling of Henderson's Old Fashioned beer. I highly recommend a trip to The Aging Oak, whether you're looking for a drink and a small bite, or decide to share several small plates. The food is delicious, the bar menu is expansive, and owners Jerry and Carol are always welcoming.

Popped in last Saturday for drinks for the first time.... very impressed, will definitely not be my last! We had the combination cheese/farm board along with some whiskey and a radler. The Whiskey bacon jam from the board was to die for........I really wanted to lick the dish clean:). The service was fantastic and the whiskey knowledge was great. I am so happy to have a new great place for drinks so close to home!

The owner, Jerry, spent some time showing us how to properly try whiskey and it was very educational. Additionally our server, Sean, was excellent. A very warm and charming place and something you would expect in Toronto, not Hespeler. We will definitely go back on a regular basis.

Came for dinner on a Friday night to celebrate an personal occasion. From start to finish the experience was amazing. First of all my apologies for forgetting the persons name who helped up - but assuming it was the owner. He was amazing to talk to and very helpful with everything. The service and food here is just incredible. and I'll make separate note right now about the drinks. But for the food, the charcuterie was just incredible. Great portions and the selections were explained to us as well to what they were, always a nice touch. Flatbreads were great as well. Second - the Whisky. This was hands down the best place I've been to for a whisky flight. The gentleman was very knowledgeable about what was being served in the flights and how to enjoy them. I was blown away. I've had whisky flights before, but none like this. Third - the music. We were fortunate enough on the Friday to enjoy live music. He was amazing. Not too loud, and great selections that really set the mood and let us unwind while enjoying. Overall what more can I say - hands down an incredible experience start to finish. We drove over 1.5 hours each way, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Looking forward to another visit.

Great spot for getting together for a nice meal or apps and drinks with friends and family! Delicious food, great service and knowledgeable staff. Sean knows a lot about the products they serve and he makes killer cocktails. And their chef is awesome! I love coming here for drinks and appetizers with friends but I recently learned that they serve lunch on Thursdays and Fridays. I tried it today and everything was amazing. I got a roast honey smoked ham with sandwich on sourdough bread (it was the special today and it was so good) with a delicious spinach, tomato cucumber salad with avocado dill dressing. I had a really hard time deciding between that and the buffalo chicken wrap. The food was great. I also got a cappuccino and a biscotti for dessert. I will definitely be back for that buffalo chicken wrap!

Very impressed! We walked down today for the first time. Great little spot in downtown hespeler. The food was fantastic. We had the muscles to start. Then we ordered the short rib tacos (best I've ever had) chicken antajitos, and two of the flat breads. Some of the best tapas I've ever had. Staff was very nice. Very glad we stopped in to give it a chance. We will be going back again for sure.
