Tried this place when in town based on reviews. Don't get me wrong it was decent (pork skewers were really good), but being a bit of a Viêt food guy i was disappointed, it's not very authentic, seems they're catering to the locals rather than just making the dishes traditionally, which I think people would like more.

This is really good Vietnamese food. Just moved here a while back from Toronto and I haven't tried any Vietnamese food since cause I just didn't think it would compare. Glad this was my first try! Delicious crispy chicken, flavourful lemongrass chicken and their Singapore style noodles were SO flavourful! We will be ordering again.

I just ordered from here and it was terrible. The duck we ordered was dried, and tasted like it was microwaved. Usually it is nice and tender and exquisite. We also ordered tom yum goong (shrimp), and we specifically requested no pineapple, guess what....PINEAPPLE. It was not the delicious at all, in fact it was terrible. This was a horrible experience, I ordered from there on my brother's recommendation, as he said they are usually really good, but this time not so. Would not recommend.

Best Vietnamese cuisine in town. Unique dishes that you won't find at typical Pho restaurants; like the crispy roast duck. The pho broth is also made from scratch. Other traditional dishes like lemon grass chicken is presented in different ways than traditional Vietnamese restaurants.

Good place, good food and pretty server opps?! I ordered a chicken with orange sauce but ended up with duck with orange sauce.. Well, I'm fine with that.. Because of this mistake, I tried one of the best duck I ever eat in my life! It was so crispy and not dry and it taste just good with the orange sauce! And the server is so pretty that I can't feel angry at all opps! Just need to put a little bit of smile and it will be perfect =) cheers!

Portion sizes are great and so are the flavours. Prices are super reasonable making this a great place for a cheap date. I would stay away from squid items however. I like squid however personally I find the squid hear not only chewy but also a bit "fishy" tasting. All the other seafood items are awsome.

Red Basil has been for me an absolute favourite place to dine. When I visit when in town I make a point of dining alone. It is a respite place to have wine and food ....like "mashed potatoes" my comfort place and food. Recently we hosted a dinner party and chose to order in.......Red Basil won out! All guests LOVED THE VARIETY! With comments like." I love that place" and "I will surely visit there." It's not "hoity toytee (sp.) ....it's a casual place to come and BE 5 STARS

What in the world did I eat? This review might seem harsh but maybe I can help someone. I ordered a pad Thai from them. I was told that they had a great pad Thai. Being new in town, I trusted this recommendation. Trust me, stay away from this dish at least. I don't know what the rest of their food is like but if they can't make pad Thai right, I don't imagine the rest of the food is any better. What I got was some clumped up rice noodles with sirracha sauce. A few red and green peppers and a couple onions. Nothing at all that would ever be considered authentic Thai food. So disappointing!!

Let me start out by saying pho is my favourite food. I am always down for a bowl. When a friend recommended we try Red Basil for lunch I was excited to try a new place. I ordered the pho (#23, eye round steak and brisket) because I always have to see how the pho ranks in my list of favourite places. Red Basil is my new favourite. The broth was delicious. I always add chilli sauce to my pho because I like it spicy, but honestly it tasted amazing on it own. The steak and brisket were also good. My friend got a vermicelli bowl and for a second I actually regretted not trying that instead (until I had some pho of course). The restaurant is on the smaller side and looks classier than most pho places I’ve been to. I really liked the touch of having violin covers of popular songs on the playlist, and overall I had a really great time and ate some awesome food. Definitely going back.

My hubby and I have eaten here many times since we moved to Cambridge. Located in downtown Cambridge, you can find parking on the streets or at a municipal parking lot behind the restaurant. I like getting a bowl of pho with rare beef, number 22 on the menu. I also tried their rice paper spring rolls, fried spring rolls, coconut shrimp, crispy duck with peanut sauce, pork vermicelli, ginger tea and more. They have been decent, but my favourite has been the pho. Service is usually friendly and efficient. It is a narrow restaurant, so it can seat more people than you would expect. Atmosphere is casual, and they do seem to have a bar where you can order drinks.

I have been coming here for over 5 years since studying in Cambridge. Red Basil is a small family run restaurant that is consistent in its servuce. The crispy duck lunch special with the peanut or curry sauce is amazing. Pho is well prepared and is one of the more authentic Vietnamese dishes on the menu. Portions are generally large and filling. I would also recommend the bun bo hue for a unique noodle soup to try.

This is the least authentic Vietnamese restaurant I have been to in a long time. The green curry wasn't even green. All the wrong veggies, rice was dry. Most of the food on the menu wasn't even Vietnamese food. Seems like a confused restaurant as to what Vietnamese food really is.

Second time dong Uber Eats Delivery. For $30, I received 4 small spring rolls, Coconut Sticky rice which was not even eatable because it was so thick and really tasteless. The mango salad well good, was just that, a mango and a couple slices of red pepper and onion for $9.00. hmm Mangos $1 at the grocery store. Flavour was good on the salad and spring rolls delicious but I have to to give it two stars overall. I will try again but pickup because delivery service is a rip off.

The tiny waiting area was packed with customers, and the staff made no effort to regulate the number of people in the store. We will not get food from there again.

Went here because they were supposedly rated 4.5 stars, but honestly, they shouldn't even have 1 star. Their dine-in service was closed due to COVID, so we were seated outside on plastic wobbly tables. Our table had a big splatter of dried bird poop and we were stuck waiting for more than 10 minutes for the server to bring us chairs from the restaurant. We were seated with lawn chairs and served with plastic containers/cutlery for our food. Flies and bees kept surrounding our food and we were constantly waving our arms to get rid of the flies. I kept getting up from the table because of the bees.

Let's get to straight to the super star on their menu - THE DUCK! I've enjoyed everything I've tried on the menu, but I always go back to their incredible crispy duck with peanut sauce. The staff working at take-out counter are very nice. The food is consistently flavourful and fresh. It's been one of my favourite local spots since they first opened.

My boyfriend and I came here twice and 3 out of our 4 meals have been horrible. I ordered the Pad Thai and Tofu with Mixed Vegetables with a Bubble Tea and he ordered Fried Noodles with Mixed Vegetables. The pad thai was just a big pile of noodles, drowned in an overly sweet sauce. The menu stated that it came with onions, carrots, and peppers but it was mostly just shredded carrots and a couple pieces of overcooked peppers. I had to pay extra for protein (tofu) which was also drowned in the same sweet sauce as the noodles. The rice in my other tofu dish was dry and was covered in the same sauce as my pad thai... My boyfriend's dish was not flavourful at all. The tapioca in the bubble tea was also grainy and tasted cheap. It seems like the owners care more about making money than perfecting the quality of their food. Although portions are hefty, the ratio of ingredients in the meals is way off and the flavours are lacking. We will definitely not be coming back.

When i am in the area we often eat here for lunch over the years. They have nice Pho, their Duck is tasty and crispy, Mango chicken is nice. Really almost anything I've tried has been good. Service and prices are good

This restaurant is pretty small but it has a great menu. Food is absolutely delicious and the portions are large. Prices are reasonable and the staff and service great too! Definitely a go to for Vietnamese cuisine.

Haven't been in a couple of years but the meal I ate recently (September 2016) was dreadful. I expect the pungent aroma of Thai food and it was tasteless. The peanut sauce for dipping was so watered down that I knew it was peanut sauce only because of the colour and a few peanut crumbs on top.

It's probably the best Thai restaurant in Cambridge but they could improve on a few things, I usually order the vegetarian pad Thai and I find they don't use enough veggies, it's 95+ percent noodles, sometimes it's a little dry and sticky but the flavour is great. The vegetarian fresh rolls are delicious and keep me coming back.
