This place is a hidden gem in Cambridge. The food is delicious - especially the famous Obie burger. The staff are more than accommodating. When I was there a younger girl asked for a milkshake and they don't even serve milkshakes there but the owner whipped something up just for her. This is the kind of place you go to and appreciate the level of service you get that you don't see much of anymore. A small place with a lot to offer. I've already recommended this place to so many of my friends. Don't ever change guys - you rock!

Absolutely fantastic food. Easily the best in Hespeler and probably in Cambridge. A little pricier but what you're getting is amazing. Food competes with places like the Keg. Not a huge menu but that's how they keep up the quality. Every dish I've had has been stunning in both presentation and taste. For sure give this place a visit if you're in town. Call and reserve. They fill fast.

Surprisingly good food with a local sourcing philosophy. The ambiance doesn't really live up to the menu, with a plasticy feel to the tables and booths and a lack of warmth in the decor. But I'd rather a restaurant have great food than a great look.

Very small but cozy, trendy restaurant with amazing service. We came to Obie’s after reading the amazing reviews. We were greeted at the door, and had our orders taken promptly. The restaurant is dimly lit with dark features giving it a very relaxed, cool vibe. The Caesar we were served was enjoyed by the pickiest Caesar critic, and the fountain drinks came with paper straws which was awesome! Love that they’re on board with this environmentally friendly alternative! I have given Obie’s a 3 star rating based on a few things: First, the kids menu is very small. I believe there were about 3 or 4 options. We ordered our daughter the fried chicken and found it tasted awful. I also really disliked my pasta. It was so bland and heavy, covered in very thick sauce. It lacked any flavour other than pieces of sour, stringy tomatoes. Salt and pepper could not save it, in the least. The Obie’s poutine however, was amazing and the famous Obie’s burger was good. Despite the two horrible meals we received, we would still return to Obie’s because of the wonderful service, atmosphere, cleanliness, bevy’s, and burgers and poutine. I would probably just stick with what they’re known for and share with our child.

I was not expecting such an incredible quality and versatility of locally sourced ingredients put together into such a delicious and dare i say overwhelmingly edible creation. Chef Justin O'Brien is exceedingly talented but aside from the epicurean splendor, is a highly relaxed yet excitingly vibrant gastro pub. Don't miss this place, it is an experience in AMAZINGLY GOOD ridiculousness. Look at this food...hand made down to the aioli! Seriously Delicious, you'll be back again and again LOL

This place is incredible!! Just went again, for a second time, and I'm even more blown away than the first time. The service is SO friendly and the food is AWESOME! Waited maybe 4 minutes for appetizers (best spinach dip AND Caesar salad in town) and less than 10 minutes for entrees. Couldn't even finish my beef dip, and the sweet potato fries were top notch. Everything tasted perfect and was cooked flawlessly; I will be back many more times... give them a try!

I've now eaten at Obie's twice now, and both times the food and service has been excellent. Today, with a group of people we ordered the pulled pork tacos as an appetizer and the flavour combination was sensational! (We ate them so fast, we couldn't take a photo) The entrees were fantastic as well, never disappointed when ordering anything off the menu. However, today was the first time we ordered desert, the cheesecake, creme brûlée, and the chocolate mousse. All three deserts were amazing!! I highly recommend Obie's, you will NOT be disappointed.

Visiting Cambridge for the weekend and found this place. Ordered the '2 can dine' and was impressed by the quality and quantity. I think it was more like a meal for 4-5 people. Ribs are amazing, wings are next level. Wish I lived closer!

Amazing!!! Every time we go here we are pleased. Cheese burger is so good that we order it to split and try something else on the menu. The only thing I haven't really raved about is the ribs but friends have said they were the most amazing ribs they have had, so I guess I had a not so great batch. I tell everybody about this place! Cj is always a pleasure to see. Love the new upates to the decor. Hope our favourite little diner doesn't get to busy for us!

Delicious dinner at Obies. You cannot beat the service and we were lucky to get a late evening reservation. We had the Obies burger and the buffalo chicken poutine. Both were perfection. Obies is such a hidden gem in Cambridge, if you haven't gone yet...you must! They do take out too which I will be doing more often!

My first time trying and was blown away with the friendly service and family atmosphere. The food was awesome. I had the Obie burger and my wife had the elk meatloaf with mushroom risotto which both were fantastic. Bring your appetite as the portions are large Love that all is sourced as local as possible, even the beer! Highly recommend

Wow to thier new menu in October - the Obie poutine is amazing! It is a weird combo but it works! The elk burger is juicy and the frues are cooked to a crisp perfection. The caramalized onion and bacon flatbread has homemade crust - very delicious. I would highly recommend! This place is "you gotta eat here" worthy!

Quality of food is pretty good, surprising for Cambridge, too pricey for what you get, will we be back, probably not, prefer Borealis and Bread Bar, if I'm spending a lot for a meal. Server is touching the straws that we are suppose to drink from and he coughs into his hands and then puts away the glasses, I found the server to be arrogant, he had an attitude, not sure why, it wasn't busy yet. Oh and the washrooms smelled, both men's and women's :(

Great dinner ... again! Drove here (from north part of waterloo) just because my wife wanted to have their bacon and goat cheese salad, again. As usual, all was great ... fantastic food (one of the best ceasar salads in tri-city area), friendly and knowledgeable staff that actually remembers you. Had the elk meatloaf for first time, and it was cooked flawlessly ... paired perfectly with a mushroom risotto. Finished the meal with the decadent brownie & ice cream ... suffice it to say, the brownie didn't last long. We'll be back.

I have food allergies and made them known when I ordered; they were taken seriously which made me feel great as eating out is often problematic. The food was really good, very fresh. This restauraunt was soo amazing! Im from the states so when I turned 21 and came here I ordered my first whiskey sour, which tastes like heaven (want 12 more of thoes)! We arrived at Obies around 7pm and, without a reservation, we had to wait about twenty minutes. It was worth the wait! The food was delicious! Service was prompt, despite being very busy. Always fresh, always friendly, we love this local joint (originally 5 star) Modified 2017 Every experience I had at the location (and there have been numerous) have been spot on. Fabulous. Local place with great, great food... From three sandwiches, to the burgers, the Wings, and their fancier bistro menu, LOVE it. The owner are awesome, wait staff for the most part are incredible. Love to see local business flourish, provide quality and quantity, stand above. Why not a five? My last visit with my young son we ran into a bunch of regular working class... That soured the experience, we even moved to the other side of the restaurant to avoid the obscenities and hooting... Wait staff and behind counter just turned the other cheek. Guess you have to keep the regulars happy. I will be going back, one rough visit can't say me from this great hidden gem

April 24, 2018 My cousin and I are very picky about food and we were looking for something that would not be overly priced but good quality. It has a great selection of local brews too, while waiting on my cousin I opted for a Spearhead amber beer, it was delicious. They also had a choice of a hawaiian style lager in the same brand. If you are into burgers I highly recommend their burgers. Whenever I try to impress dates I order the Cliffhanger burger which is a huge 1 1/4 lb burger with double smoked bacon, cheddar and other fixings--my dates probably think that I would eat them out of house and home but I don't care it is worth the deliciousness! I didn't have the burger this time but decided to try something new: the Venison Osso Bucco. This delightful protein was served with kale, red onions, grape tomatoes and golden potatoes. The golden potatoes had a very distinct flavour, in fact I realized later it was truffle oil. I was highly pleased with the way the meat fell right off the bone, everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The most pleasing experience was getting to meet the chef and owner, Justin O' Brien. He was very knowledgeable and pleasant and I could tell his passion for locally sourced, quality ingredients translated into a delicious menu that attracted many people: it was packed inside the restaurant on a Tuesday! They are also well known for their desserts but I was too full and satisfied to try any of it. Maybe next time! I definitely would come back here again and will tell people that Obie's is one of Cambridge's best kept secrets.

This place is great. Service is chill, beer is great, specials are great. I forget the name of the big burger but it's huge and I recommend it. Additionally, they accommodate gluten free extremely well and all the food is sourced locally. I will most certainly come here again. Update: Went again on date night (Wednesday). You get an appetizer, two mains and a dessert for 50$. The mains include duck confit, steak and salmon among other things. Had a great time as per tradition. Love it here! Update: I keep going back and it's always just as good. They have these deep fried macaroni and cheese balls that are so good. Recommend. Update: I think I have gained at least ten pounds eating here.

We love this place!! This is one of those places we found by accident and boy were we happy we did!!! It honestly doesn't look like much from the outside, it's in a plaza with a gas station . Great dining experience! As a family of 4, we ordered 3 burgers and one order of popcorn chicken. Everyone loved their meal. The burgers are served on wonderful buns, and the crispy onions on the burger were generous - positively lavish. We had heard of Obie's before, but had never noticed the sign at Pinebush and Franklin. Small place with lots of heart. We were very comfortable there and felt that the staff went above and beyond to check in with us. We will be back!

I'm extremely disappointed with Obie. This used to be one of my favourite spots for lunch in Cambridge. It's positioned in the heart of Cambridge's industrial area. One would think that he would want to keep it open for lunches. Wrong. Not only was this a terrible business decision in my opinion, my lunch will never be the same. The food in this place is WOW amazing. I had a cheeseburger. When I asked without onions (I'm not a fan on it) the owner asked me if I was sure of it, because it would really add a special flavor. I decided to have it on the side. What happened is that it was all so good and I even added some onion back in the burger and also ate some more. Really tasty. Very good service. Amazing food minus the pretension. I had the rack of lamb and my girlfriend had the elk meatloaf, both with mushroom risotto and veggies. The risotto was on point, veggies were great, no complaints there. The meatloaf was tender and not gamy (it was farm raised) and a hefty portion, my girlfriend loved it. The rack of lamb was juicy, perfectly cooked with just the right amount of gaminess. Best rack of lamb I have ever had, best meal I have eaten in Cambridge, it's appropriately priced and well worth the money. Server + knowledge of the menu + totally down to earth

Came in around 7pm on a Saturday to a nice quiet atmosphere with amazing service. Ordered the Buffalo Chicken Poutine to start. Looked way good (so good we couldn’t even take a photo before digging in). We each had an Obie burger and fries and all I can say is WOW. Huge portions, fresh veggies, yummy crispy onions and pickles, and definitely one of the best burgers I have ever had! Fires were also so so good and nice and crispy! Will Definitely be back soon! I visited Obie's tonight having just read some of the reviews posted for this restaurant, so my hopes were set pretty high. But this restaurant still managed to exceed them and I was very impressed! From the outside, it doesn't look particularly noteworthy, but it has a warm atmosphere once you get inside and it is set up in a manner that indicates they are taking covid precautions seriously (there are plexiglass partitions between each table). The food was delicious and came out quickly. My partner and I shared a delicious sticky rib appetizer, and then he had Fish and Chips and I had the Obie burger. Both were fantastic. For dessert I had the creme brulee and it was the perfect way to finish the meal. Service was friendly. We were there until right before the time they closed (8PM) but they did not make us feel rushed. I am very glad we decided to eat here and we will most definitely be back.

This place is a hidden gem! Very unassuming from the outside, but stylish, clean, and cozy inside. Great selection of local premium beers on tap and the food is KILLER. I love the stuff from the smoker, the burger is great, and the tacos are amazing. The menu has shrunk a bit with the pandemic, but still lots of menu items you just don't find anywhere else. Large food portions and very reasonably priced. Service is excellent, too.

Ordered food was partially cold. When I order out it arrived and bread on burger was soggy. Meat was NOT cooked thoroughly, service was horrible. Went into to speak with them and they stated it was not their problem, noticed mostly highschool kids in behind in kitchen and they were asking one to use machine she did not seem to know how to use and offered no training. This does not come across to me as a good employer or restraint I want to support at all as they do not provide proper food delivery or service providers!

My hubby and I have eaten here many times, probably between 6-9 times to date, and every meal we had here has been great. Here are my ratings and comments to everything that I've eaten or sampled. Appetizers and Sides: -Caesar salad: 4/5, your typical Caesar salad from a nice restaurant (not from McD's) but definitely better than average. -Bacon and Blue Cheese salad: 5/5, this salad is quite unique and tasty with bacon chunks. -Sweet potato fries: 5/5, you can't go wrong with sweet potato fries. -Fries: I don't think I need to rate this. -Fish Tacos: 4/5, very tasty. -Korean Pulled Pork Tacos: 3.5/5, quite tasty but I liked fish tacos more. Main: -Fish and Chips: 3/5, can be hit or miss. The sauce tasted bland the second time we tried this dish. -Grilled Ontario Rib-eye Steak: 3/5, it's a rib-eye steak that is different from typical New York Striploin or tenderloin types of steak. It was too burnt outside for my liking but inside was medium rare just how I like it. -Chicken Bacon Melt: 4/5, you can't go wrong with this classic sandwich. -The Obie Burger: 3.5/5 I can understand the appeal of this huge burger stacked with onion rings, slices of pickles, slices of cheese, thick bacon, a beef patty and more. And it's delicious. Personally, I like smaller burgers because my portion is small, and they are easier to eat. -Buffalo Chicken and Bacon Sandwich: 4.5/5 this was a little spicy for me but amazing! I'd get it again next time. -Chicken and Bacon Fettucine: 2/5 I didn't like the sun-dried tomato pesto cream sauce very much. I felt nauseous, but my hubby liked it. Hidden in a plaza next to a gas station, this place may be easy to miss as you drive by and enter a roundabout but they seem to have regular customers coming due to their amazing food and friendly staff. They have such a great menu with lots to choose from for a small, independent restaurant. They also offer a date night menu on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and you can sometimes find coupons.

Outstanding battered pickerel and Beet & Quinoa salad!!! Wow!! Wow!! Don't miss these!! I definitely want to come back! My hubby and I split their large Beet & Quinoa salad with Goat cheese. I eat a lot of salad, and it was still big enough for the two of us! The pickled beets didn't add anything to the flavour (which is why they put them as a base to the salad and were not mixed in). I was skeptical of the watermelon dressing, but - wow- it was AMAZING! The Dill sauce that came with the fish was unique and incredibly good!! My hubby had the Shrimp Sundried Tomato Linguine; both of us didn't care for it. He thought the tomatoes needed to be more finely chopped and more noodles added to dry out the pasta a bit. He absolutely loved my fish and the batter though! The main dishes were large. I brought home leftovers. It all came to around $67 plus tip with iced tea and pop. My receipt pic shows our receipt before we added our tip. They had limited dessert options: cinnamon cheesecake, Crème Brulee, and cherry something. The dining area was casual like Boston Pizza. They have 3 TV screens in one area for people to watch sports. Our server was excellent!

Atmosphere is good, chill little place and even though it was full it was pretty quiet. Food is great, loved the tacos. Brought the gf back next day for Taco Tuesday, 25% off tacos. Went with shrimp, and chicken this time. Menu is simple, I look forward to trying the Elk meatloaf, and the Bison steak. Date night wed and thurs its $50 two can dine, limited menu but looks like a good deal.

First time but wont be the last. 5 of us went out for a birthday dinner on a saturday night. We arrived about 615 to a very full little restaurant. We were greeted with a big smile by a gentleman who ended up serving us aswell. All 5 of us raved about the food ranging from creamy chicken sandwiches to elk meatloaf with a rice dish which was fabulous to gigantic tasty burgers. Our server who was very was knowledgeable and accomidating to my daughters allergies also surprised her with a birthday brownie. Most things being local and homemade is a huge plus in my book. Will return soon with friends.

The Obie's Burger here is amazing. One of the best burgers I've ever had. I also tried the chicken fettuccine that my wife got and that was also amazing. Service was friendly, and the prices are very fair. The only downside of this place is the food takes super long to come out, so make sure you're not too hungry before going. It took 20 minutes to get a bill one time.

Last night was my second time back to this amazing little spot!! First time I was there I had the cheeseburger and it was so fantastic!! Last night I gave the amazing waiter 2 options one of which was the feature not on the menu and asked him to surprise me...I had the best chicken fajitas which was the feature dish!! Amazing and friendly staff, great atmosphere and I'll definitely be going back for more!!

We just ordered takeout here and were less than impressed with the food. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with fries ($17..) on a massive ciabatta bun that soaked up all the juices and quickly became soggy the fries were good though! the butter chicken ($21....) Was so bland it literally tasted like nothing. The rice was wet and it was mostly unseasoned chicken with a watery flavorless slightly curry tasting sauce. The portion was nowhere near as expected and although it had lots of chicken it was just a boring mess to be honest. The spinach dip was very good but the chip portion was incredibly small and again for the spinach dip it was ($15.25) I ended up paying $60 (before tip) and neither of us were really impressed. Won't be eating here again.

Excellent food and atmosphere! Very friendly general manager and staff. Would be nice if it was open later but since it is a small family owned business it makes sense! The creme brulee was outstanding and same with the game features! Elk meatloaf also amazing!

This is literally the best tasting food we have ever eaten in Cambridge and the area, and we eat out a lot! She got the butternut squash ravioli I got the Obie burger and we got the Cheese dip as the app. I kid you not the food is delicious and worth the price. We didn't even know they existed until we saw an ad in some flyer so we googled the menu. The place is small, in the corner of a little plaza, don't let that fool you. The open kitchen is nice as well, you can smell everything cooking. Amazing food.

Read the rave reviews and went to check it out. Tried the salami and peppers flat bread which was amazing. Had fresh ingredients on it and the goat cheese pulled all the flavors together. Gave it a 5 out of 5 for flavor and uniqueness. My wife and daughter both had the chicken melt sandwich. Chicken was juicy and the coffee rubbed bacon on it was to die for. Both thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the jumbalaya and was equally impressed. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and not rubbery , sausage was flavorful and had no fillers in it. All in all a well put together plate of yum. Had one appetizer 3 main dishes 2 beers and 2 softdrinks. Bill came to $100 with a 15% tip rounded out at $115. Will definitely be back again... Don't let the strip mall location fool you.

Obie's was all around a fantastic experience. The gentleman who served my boyfriend and I was extremely accommodating and friendly and made us feel welcome. We found this restaurant purely by accident, and we're sure glad we did! The food was AMAZING, I ordered the elk meatloaf and it was phenomenal, absolutely mouth watering and you're given a very generous portion. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Cambridge!

Of all the independent restaurants in Cambridge/KW area Obies will always rank the highest in our books! Always treated so well and the food is always amazing, if it's not it's fixed immediately. Which is exactly what happened tonight, because it wasn't 100% I was looked after and treated like a somebody, customer service should be like this everywhere!!! Loved it! Had the Obie burger and fries and was very impressed. Definitely in the top 5 of burgers I have had in my lifetime. Staff is friendly and laid back, and it's obvious they put their souls into the business. Came here on the recommendation of a friend and probably wouldn't have noticed it tucked in the corner of a plaza, but now that I know it's there I'll definitely be back.
