A bit of a hidden gem in the city of Calgary. Located a bit obscurely, but still close to the downtown core. Some of the best tasting food and ingredients for the price in the city! Love that it’s close to the office too ????

A wonderful modern dining experience. We have been a couple of times and Alloy has never let us down. They have a rotating menu that is consistently great and a new tasting menu every week. Most recently we had the tasting menu comprising a red beet salad, sous vide duck beast, and grilled NY steak. All elements of the meal were exellent but the standout was the duck beast. Of course very tender and flavourful on its own, but the rhubarb jam was an excellent complement. The decor and ambience of the dining room was stylish and modern but in a cozy and comfortable way. The staff were very friendly and made every effort to make our meal even more enjoyable.

Food is excellent. There are a number of great things to choose from on the menu. The restaurant is tucked away in an area you wouldn't normally expect to find such a high end establishment. The restaurant is beautifully appointed inside and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and available but not doting. I can't believe it has taken me so long to get there. I will definitely go again.

Amazing beautiful unbeatable and unbelievable beef cut, this is the second time in the past 6 years that I have enjoy a steak like if I was eating a piece of heaven, and today you guys nailed it and blew my mind again with a explosion of flavors. the last time I was here was years ago - this would have been in 2015 - I always remembered this place with the following : great food great ambience easy parking easy to find fantastic selection of wine staffs are attentive without overbearing location is romantic - hidden but easy to find I recently attended a private party here and guess what - everything I remembered it to be was THE SAME if not better! It was a very nice experience in the restaurant, I was here for my birthday. The food is unique and can't find dishes like these in many restaurants here with very interesting flavors. The prices are not so low but I guess I can say it was worth it. The dishes look a bit small but trust me you will be full. The waitress was very friendly and nice, gave us samples of wine and even a free glass of champagne just so that we will be satisfied! I guess the 4 stars is still because of the price.

Fantastic Experience! My family dined here in June 2016 to celebrate my sister's graduation from University. Our group ordered the 5 course meal with wine pairing. Oh my, it was absolutely marvelous! The food has been great. The beef short rib melts in your mouth. Been there for a couple Christmas parties and the staff have been great. Very helpful and accommodating. I learned how to make a great old fashioned from their bar. Large wine list and lots to choose from in regards to spirits.

The food here was really good, although a bit pricy. But the portion sizes were pretty good and I think it was worth it. Review based on the salmon and cheesecake. The salmon was really good, although I asked for medium rare and it was mostly just well done. The flavours with the sauces and the ingredients complimented each other in the whole dish, which was really nice. The cheese cake was fantastic, the texture creamy and the actual cheese on it was fantastic. Would definitely come again.

Ate here for my friend's birthday on a Saturday evening. We had 9pm reservations and were not seated until 9:35. After we were seated and given a mediocre server ( Ryan ), they proceeded to make us wait over an hour for our food. I ordered the chicken and was given it at 10:45. My friend who simply ordered an appetizer ( Gnocchi ) received her plate at 11pm. After 10 pm the place had significantly died down and by the time we received our meals there was only one other occupied table so it is beyond me why it took so long for our meals. When asked Ryan replied " all our food is raw and takes a while to be made in house " as if that makes an sense. I have read such rave reviews about this place which is why I advised my friend to host her birthday dinner there but that was a mistake. The food is good but the service was incredibly unremarkable for a so called upscale establishment.

Had a very nice meal here. The atmosphere is one of the nicest in Calgary. Love the design. I recommend the pork belly appetizer. Amazing. The place is a bit on the loud side, so make sure you're into a more energetic night before you book. Parking can also be a bit of a problem as there is no street parking and the lot can fill up.

My first time there,and most certainly not my last. Everything was perfect from the moment we entered the door to the moment we left. The cocktails were amazing. The food was breathtaking. The service was outstanding. You feel like the only person in the room. A fantastic experience. Hint, try the starter of Truffle Gnocchi...to die for. I can't wait to return.

So disappointed with everything. We went somewhere new in the hopes of a good time and were let down. The interior gave us a great first impression however the rest was a complete let down. We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer which was really good and flavourful. I ordered the beef short rib and my husband went for the surf and turf. Please, please, please believe us when we say it was bland, at best. The tenderloin had been sliced in half and slightly salted, it tasted unseasoned and dry. The sauce under the steak had raw herbs which made it almost impossible to eat and the kale was steamed with zero salt. My meal was ok, minus the strong vinegar tasting sauce on top. The service itself matched the steak, aka very dry... If anything we seemed like an inconvenience to the server. Drinks were slow to arrive at the table and there was no question regarding our food or lack of eating it ... We won't be back!

New Year's eve 7 course dinner. Food was mostly really good. Service could be better. If I'm going to spend 400 dollars on a dinner for 2 i sure expect above and beyond service which Alloy does not have. Really loud and bright not so romantic. Doubt I'll be returning.

Loved the atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Our meals were delicious, however I wish their beer menu was better, especially when Annex Ales is across the street. There was over 4 pages of wine selections and only 3-4 single craft beer options. I'm looking forward to trying out the patio in the summer; hoping their craft beer selection improves by then.

A welcoming fine dining atmosphere with a surprisingly beautiful patio out back considering the location. The tables are not at all cramped like a lot of newer fine dining restaurants. Meals are in a higher price range but I haven't had a dish I didn't find lacking. Loved the Short Rib for dinner. Always a great choice for a business dinner.

We had the tasting menu for 2 and the food and service was good. Food was delicious and the only thing that was not perfect is that the risotto had numerous small pieces of shell in it. I also had a dull knife which i forgot to inform them. So someone else will think there steak is tough until they bite it and instantly realize its the knife.

Have been going here for years, but deserves the awful review now... Went in for my birthday dinner with my girlfriend tonight, appetizer and dinner came out within a 45 minute time span... even tried to stagger our order, but felt INCREDIBLY rushed. Not happy with spending the amount of money for a place that serves "good" food for a fine dining price and pushes the envelope time wise.

So disappointed, we were seated at 630, out food didn't come out till 730, we barley ate out food bc I ordered medium rare steak and it came out super rare. So rare to the point where even my boyfriend wouldn't eat it. I was so disappointed, service was barley even there. I felt so exiled bc she was busy tending to other people when we've clearly been waiting for a long time. We asked for the cheque and it took her 15-20 min to give that to us. We missed our other reservations for dessert at another place because they just took so long and the food was 6/10.. felt like they smeared ketchup on the bottom of my tenderloin... just overall such a disappointing experience.

Went here for our fourth wedding anniversary and had a simply lovely experience! They gave us complimentary hummus and bread after we were seated. We also were gifted two complimentary glasses of Cava because of our anniversary - made us feel special! Then we had lobster tacos and a compressed apple salad for appies. I had chicken supreme with purple cabbage and potato pancakes for main and my husband had braised beef with marscapone mashed potatoes. We had espresso crepe brûlée with marshmallows and white chocolate for dessert. Everything was cooked and spiced to perfection - we couldn’t ask for anything more. The setting was beautiful as we enjoyed the outdoor patio filled with beautiful succulents and surrounded by full trees. A little outdoor oasis in the middle of a Calgary industrial area! Our server was also passionate about the restaurant and very professional!

This was an a OK restaurant for hubby and I. Went here for our anniversary after all the great reviews online. Totally different experience. First time here, I felt soo uncomfortable due to the server. She sure does looks like she was having a bad day. Couldn't get a smile from her, the impression I got from her was awkward. Food: Hubby ordered the Rack of Lamb which tasted really good, but presentation wise, not impressed; Little meal in such a huge plate and was pushed to the side. I ordered the Icelandic Lingcod, it had no taste, was not impressed but was hungry so I managed it. The starter we had, something "Duck ..." Was on point. I don't think I will return after the experience I had.

We had an amazing time at Alloy tonight. All the flavors of each dish were perfectly balanced. The service was excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant was classy and elegant without being pretentious. The serving sizes were substantial. We definitely felt like we got our money's worth. I had the short rib and was equal parts blown away by the presentation, flavor and "melt in your mouth" texture of the meat. The vegetables and potatoes perfectly complimented the rest of the course. My wife had the chicken and was pleased with her meal but after tasting my short rib she felt that she would be ordering that next time.

I will not partcularly coming back for the food but it will be on top of my list if I want to go somewhere classy! We really liked the ambiance. Upscale, clean and modern! The reception was friendly and professional. I rate the food as very good (not excellent) though. The only shortcoming was the dessert. Non of us liked our dessert that much (we could not finish them). What we loved here was the whole experience that this place gives you. It is great for anniversaries if you like modern places.

We heard about the great reviews for this restaurant and decided to try it out. I ordered the steak medium rare but it was completely well done when it came out. I told the server and instead of changing it like any other respectable restaurant would, she sent the manager over to speak with me. When the manager came by he took one look and accused me of not knowing how steak should be cooked so I explained that medium rare steak should have a red center and the one given to me was completely done. After a bit more exchange he reluctantly agreed to change my steak. When he brought it out the second time, he threw the dish down and asked me to cut down the center immediately to see if it was done to my preference. It felt very hostile and I wasn't sure why he would not give me a minute to do it at my own pace and come check on me in a bit. Anyway, the steak was well done again the second time. I told the manager and this time he told me that is how they do their steak and proceeded to walk away. For the rest of dinner I was stuck with a piece of beef jerky and terrible customer service by the manager and the server who also did not appear to care about us. You could not pay me to come back to this place ever again.

Celebrating my better half's birthday. Been a while since we've dined at Alloy but he picked the place. Very disappointed with the food and service last night. My medium tenderloin was sliced in half- big mistake as that drained all of its moisture, left is so dry- chewing it was dreadful. Roasted beet salad was ok, could have used ricotta over camembert cheese and more herbs. Tartare was way too cold, came out scooped. May have been over-minced the day prior to service that its consistency is almost as if it was ground and chilled. Not sure if the true concept for the tartare was to simulate a tostada because of the toppings and the combination of flavours had a clear resemblance to the popular mexican/latin american dish. Service was poor, hostess and the waitress weren't warm, inviting and did not have much knowledge of the food. The short rib however, has been consistent- flavourful, tender. Now overall, every item on the menu was overpriced for the overall quality and experience you're getting. We rushed to get the bill, left our meals half eaten and did not bother with dessert. It has completely ruined our evening. We have eaten at almost every place in the city- fine dining or cheap eats and I have not been as disappointed at a restaurant rated 4.6 stars on google. I'm sorry Alloy but I doubt that we'll come back. The drive itself to your location was not at all worth my time.

Be sure to bring the family and get a taste of Alloy. So many dishes and wonderful establishment. From the front staff to the cooks in the back. Everything is done with class without dropping a beat. Parking is great and depending on your crowd you have a variety of places within the restaurant to sit. One of my favourites in Calgary for sure be sure to try it out

This is a very pleasant and "fancy" restaurant. It seems popular among professionals. The food is quite good. The variety offered is not extensive. Tomato salad wasn't my favorite but everything else was amazing! Lobster tempura you receive a lot more lobster than you'd expect for the price; perfectly crispy and nicely accompanied with all the right flavors and ingredients. Halibut was PERFECTLY cooked and juicy, flaking with just the lightest touch. The kale pistou accompanied the fish well but I did find the risotto a bit strong for this dish but still tasty. Desert was 5/5 as well

First time being at Alloy. It was a co-worker gathering supper. The group of us had a variety of different items on their menu. From the steak, the pork tenderloin, chicken and a vegetarian dish. They did it all great. No one was disappointed. I had the grilled pork tenderloin meal. I was quite impressed with it. I thought I would be hungry after finishing this meal, but no I was so stuffed. It was decieving on the plate. The flavours was well balanced and had no traces of shell fish to make me ill. Which is a bonus when I have a Asian infused dish, there is sometimes a hint of something to just start making me ill when I get back from the restaurant. The service was very good. Very attentive service, the food was served at the right temperature and at the right pace. Their hummus was tasty for their complimentary offering. The group order the truffle gnocchi dish, which looked very yummy. I could probably have had it but was not too sure with their shredded paremsan cheese. So I decided not to risk it as I was not sure how long we were going to stay out for either.

Id like to preface this review by saying the service I received here was top notch and amongst the best Ive ever received. However, the food left a bit to be desired. Never in my life have I been disappointed by every dish at a restaurant but unfortunately this happened at Alloy where we tried 2 different starters and 2 different apps. First of all, all four of our dishes seemed to be oversalted, and that's coming from someone who loves salty foods. Secondly, although the flavours were big and bold, they did not come together cohesively in my opinion. For example, our Spicy Ahi Tuna appetizer was definitely spicy... But so much so that the flavour of the ahi tuna was hidden by all the spices and the 'heat' from the ginger. The drinks we ordered were amazing along with the service, but again we were quite disappointed by the food.

We had a wonderful experience at Alloy. Our server, Jennifer, was absolutely fantastic! She was incredibly knowledgeable, courteous, and really pleasant. I enjoyed every minute. The food was delicious, and the wine Jennifer recommended paired perfectly. We will definitely be back, thanks again for such an amazing time on a cold, snowy evening. Your staff is the best! He was comfortable to have serve us, made great recommendations and did a good job accommodating us as we had a 1.5 year old making it difficult for us. When you come ask for Ryan! Only downside was the toothpick I had after dinner, it broke quite easily.

My husband and I booked out Alloy for our wedding reception. I cannot even put into words how amazing this establishment is to host an event. The owner is extremely flexible and helpful. He is prompt in replying to emails and very accommodating. The staff are extremely professional and friendly. THE FOOD (the best part) is amazing. I cannot recommend this venue enough to my family and friends for either a dinner out, or a wedding reception. I would not have changed a thing and I wouldn't say I am easily impressed! AMAZING!

We had a celebratory dinner here a week ago and were blown away by the service. Our waiter was so accommodating. They did not have the wine we ordered but made a suggestion and honored the price of the other bottle. Prosecco was on the house due to us celebrating a special day. The food was phenomenal. We will definitely be visiting again!

What was supposed to be a nice early birthday/last dinner out before shutdown turned into a disappointment, thanks to an unfortunate decision by Alloy to skirt AHS guidelines and let two couples that were clearly not from the same household sit together. I know they weren't the same household as the women introduced themselves to eachother at dinner. This table, who may have already been drinking/high based on their facial expressions, spent the night drinking and swearing, visually disrupting at least four tables, as their volume and swearing increased. This led to at least one table asking to be moved during their service. At no point did I see management ask them to keep it down, leaving it to the wait staff to try to reel them in during their frequent visits to serve them additional alcohol. The food was excellent, and the wait staff did a great job, but based on this careless and obvious disregard for AHS guidelines, we will not be back.

Our server David was great. Personable, knowledgeable, attentive and just an all round great guy. And now the food..... Absolutely incredible!!!! We started with the truffle gnocchi and ginger tartare. Both had so much flavor that took my tastebuds to another level. Then the Ahi Tuna and Beef Tenderloin were on point as well. Every bite was better than the one before. The atmosphere and decor made you feel like you were at a chic Californian restaurant in the 70s. Loved it!

Had the testing menu tonight. The strip loin, which was the third of a three course meal, was outstanding! Definitely ranks in the top 5 steaks I have ever had. It came cooked rare, which is a little less cooked than I would have ordered, but it turned out it was perfect. Would definitely recommend Alloy!

Excellent place for formal dining for two to about 10 people. The meals are creative takes on traditional main courses such as salmon, chicken and pork. Our group of 9 had a variety of starters and mains with favorable comments all round. There are also creative cocktails. There's a good selection of wine and beer. The wine prices are not astronomical but reasonable.

First time to this place. Driven by many times and never knew it really existed. Food was fantastic. Like the Seating but the environment was quite noisy. Somewhat annoying that I had to ask for water twice after all glasses at the table were empty. On one occasion only have the glasses at the table were refilled (and only half full). Coffee (or any other drink) with dessert wasn't offered so I had to round up the waitress after she took our desert order to bring us some coffees. Really think there is any excuse for something as basic as keeping water glasses filled. Still tipped 20% because I have sympathy for a struggling industry. Tip would have been more.

We have been to alloy many times and each time we have found it to be excellent. We have eaten here as a couple as well as with my 6 year old daughter. The servers have been excellent each time and the food has never failed to be superb. The entrees are between $20 -$35, which is average for fine dining. It has a great atmosphere with a nice outdoor seating area for those warmer Calgary nights.

Have been to this place for dining couple of times and also ordered in during COVID. Really good ambience, excellent food choices highly recommend the fish and Gnocchi. Rating is low as the staff who my wife picked up the food from was rude and condescending, almost looking down upon on you. Hoping the management reads these and provides training to staff to be kind to everyone, when you are spending on average $80+ and helping a business during tough times you expect some gratitude not the sassy attitude.

First time at Alloy went for my wife's birthday the server forget to put in our dinner order. Had to sit around for 50-60min while others seated much later than us finished their dinners and left. When the food did arrive its quality suffered slightly due to being a 'rushed' order. No gesture to try and acknowledge or make up for the mistake was made. The atmosphere is decent, food is good, service was rough. I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon.

Very disappointed in the service. The food was fairly good and particularly enjoyed the appetizers -- but our server Jenn became very cold when we ordered. She stopped offering us water, and would walk by giving us glares, and sighed each time we responded that we did not want alcohol. On the bill at the end, she added extra alcohol charges to our bill -- which we didn't discover until after dinner. When we contacted the management, it was quite disappointing as they did not return our calls. We were eventually refunded the difference. The food was good, and I would return -- but this whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth.

It's "fine dining," with the emphasis on "fine." Fine as in "mediocre, average, inoffensive, or unexceptional." First, the menu never changes. I've been there multiple times over the last few months and it's always essentially the same rehashed dishes, maybe with one or two minor changes. Nothing seasonal, which is bizarre in a city that has such distinct seasons. Hummus and pita bread is a very weird way to start a meal at a restaurant like this, especially with the prevalence of empty garbanzo bean husks on the plate. Do they have nobody that can bake half-decent bread? Second, the menu makes no mention of sourcing. This means that they likely order everything from Sysco, an international company known for having no quality standards (I've seen the truck in the back of the restaurant from the 39th Ave station). Restaurants that use excellent sources mention that on the menu. Alloy just has "pork" and "beef," which likely means that they're getting the cheapest of both that they can find on the market and then drenching both in enough clumsily-seasoned sauce that the quality of either is unrecognizable. After trying those dishes, I can say that I was tragically correct in that assumption. Third, the menu isn't even executed properly and the plating doesn't seem to have evolved since 1985. The gnocchi I had were the consistency of arts and crafts glue, drenched in obviously fake truffle oil and far too much dairy The short rib is offensively seasoned and comes with a "tomato balsamic reduction" that compliments the entree about as effectively as having Gilbert Gottfried yelling into a megaphone tableside. The peppercorn and cherry tomato barbeque sauce with the fillet was outright disgusting, and the filet itself had obviously been cut without resting long enough. The brownie was bland and embarrassing, barely tasting of chocolate. The cheesecake was roughly the same quality that I can get from the freezer at Wal Mart. Every single plate had thumbprints on it and looks to have been plated with the grace and finesse of a high-school cafeteria. Fourth, they don't seem to have anyone that can identify a corked bottle of wine. Two of the times that I've been there, we ordered a bottle and it came out corked. There's no excuse besides ineptitude for a corked bottle to be opened tableside and not detected by the server. Fifth, I overheard a short guy in a garish suit talking with a male Latino server about how funny it was when the server threatened a homeless person with a baseball bat. Not funny. Not cute. Not fine dining. I'd be embarrassed if this were my restaurant. Never going back.

The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is very comforting. I wish I could give the restaurant a 5 start but I wasn't wowed by the food given the prices. I had the carrot soup which was good but nothing spectacular and the chicken with cherry bbq sauce left something to be desired. My husband had the tomato salad as the starter which was a basic lettuce, tomato, bocconcini with balsamic dressing nothing I haven't seen before. The cocktails were good and the staff was extremely friendly just wished the food was better. I'll give it another try when the menu changes seasons as I have heard good things from friends.

Very good place. The beef short rib entree and the truffle gnocchi appetizer are MUST trys. However, the lamb with sweet potatoes and dates was much too sweet for my taste - keep that in mind when ordering. Love the atmosphere once inside, especially the booths in the centre. So unassuming from the outside, never would have expected if just walking past - looks like a community center. Nice patio in the summer as well.

This was my wife & I's first visit to Alloy and we were very impressed! We have been to most, if not all, of Calgary's current fine dining restaurants and Alloy is our new favorite. Dave (I hope i didn't get his name wrong..) was our server and he was very friendly, attentive and seemed to know the menu extremely well. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also worth a mention as the room was noticeably quieter than most restaurants its size in this city. Excessive noise has turned us off of other fine dining locations in Calgary in the past. It was easy to find parking as well. My only suggestion would be less ice in your old fashioned's but that was the ONLY suggestion I can think of. We will be back!

This should be a required dining experience for aspiring chefs.... For what not to do with food and selection/pairing of sauces. I have no complaints about the service atmosphere or anything other than the food. The olives and hummus at the beginning was good but beyond that this is the worst food I have had at a restaurant in years. Unless you value sugar and sauce heavy meals, this place should be avoided. I want to be clear that this is not a one off experience. For that to be the case there should be at least some potential in having a decent tasting meal... the thing is it was cooked okay, but the sauces selected on the menu were gross by themselves and even worse when spoiling what is otherwise an ok (not great) piece of meat. We had three meals, pork, chicken and beef. The pork and all sides were borderline disgusting, I never send meals back, but made an exception for this meal. The two people I dined with wish they sent their meals back. I also had the entertainment of trying the beef and chicken as well as the sides... (they were happy to part with parts of their meal) I was entertained in the way a D rated movie is entertaining... how can a highly rated restaurant be this bad? I don’t understand it.

I was present with friends for a birthday dinner in October, the entrees and appetizers were delicious (desserts mediocre), but the service was insulting. The server (Jenn) treated us significantly differently after we did not order alcohol. She was condescending and cold. After paying the bill, I found two charges of alcohol on the bill that were the same price as the desserts we had ordered. Alloy refunded the money at a later date, but two requests to speak to management/owner regarding our treatment by Jenn met no response.

There is simply no other better place to dine. I took a date there to impress and did I ever. The server Lauren, is beyond amazing. Her extreme knowledge of the food is impeccable. And her wine knowledge is beyond anything I would ever expect of anyone! Now the food... every single dish (and we ordered a lot) was better than the previous. Chef Rogelio is world class with his global dishes and you can tell how much he cares about his kitchen. The diversity and quality of the food is rare to see in a restaurant. The decor, after all these years is still just beautiful. There wasn’t one thing that wasn’t simply perfect. I can not recommend this place more for a wonderful lunch, romantic date, or an evening with friends.

Its service needs work. the food was good, but they definitely can up their service game. from the gentlemen who greeted us at the front door, to few of the servers who looked like they didn't want to be there today. 7 of us went for lunch today, and everything went pretty well, until it was time to pay. our waitress didn't ask if we wanted separate bills (and sure, we forgot to mention it to her at the beginning), and when we asked her if she could separate our bills, she got visibly annoyed. I am not sure if their system is complicated, but it took her a good 10 minutes, walking back and forth (she gave our table a dirty glare each time she walked pass) to get the bill separated. she had also added 18% gratuity onto our bills, even though we had 7 people in our party, not 8 or more. while reminding us a second time, next time we should let her know about separate bills at the beginning. definitely not what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant.

Food: Portion sizes are good. 1) appetizers of Beef Tartare and Truffle Gnocchi. (4/5) The gnocchi was good, soft and chewy with lots of Parmesan. Truffle was lacking but overall still tasted good. For the beef tartare, the beef portion and the cracker was good, however the sauce pairing was over powering (and tastes exactly like Valentinas Hot sauce) 2) the mains: rack of lamb, and then beef and lobster risotto. (3/5) the lamb I enjoyed, the sauce was good and the meat was tender. However the beef and lobster risotto their “surf and turf” was disappointing. The risotto had no flavour and had at most 2 pieces of “lobster” which was only lobster leg… two tiny strings of lobster in the entire risotto. The beef was cooked well and tender but had no flavour. However if you like your beef with only salt and pepper you most likely would have enjoyed it. 3) Yuzu Cheesecake (5/5) the dessert was very good. Cheesecake was creamy and tasted great, and portion was large. Ambiance: (5/5) Service: (4/5)
