I have never given a review before, but this time I just had to. I don't know what goes on with this place, but the service is awful. I have been to this restaurant about 4-5 years ago with a friend of mine. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I remember my friend noting how bad the service was, so I had a bad taste in my mouth remembering this restaurant. Since than I haven't been back up until recently, because I really craved for Greek food and the other Greek restaurants were too far. The server was not nice at all and was rude about something that was not a big deal and not my fault at all. The restaurant was empty, and now during Covid times don't they need peoples' money? The food is average, nothing special, but really overpriced. The portions are half the size than they were 4 years ago for the same price. Even that wouldn't be a huge issue if the service was even close to reasonable. Having had such a bad experience again I will never, ever come back to this place ever again.

A great selection of Greek cuisine with complimentary decor that takes you on a trip to Greece! We tried the Kalamari, gyro and lamb shoulder plates. All came with a greek salad and they were all quite delicious and tasted very fresh! Another plus was the imported wine/beer from Greece! -Parking in the back - family friendly

Ordered their chicken gyros, takeaway. It came with fries. The fries were the HIGHLIGHT! They were freshly fried (not rehead or refried). You can taste it. They are hot, perfectly fried fries! All restaurants should do that.

Best greek I've had so far in the city. Calamari was fried to perfection - it was fluffy, crispy and so fresh. The lamb was tender and fall off the bone. The dolmas (admittedly, this was my first time trying them) was so good in the zesty sauce they came with. The staff was super friendly over the phone and in person. I will definitely be going back.

Delicious saganaki, well-seasoned roast lamb kleftiko, and savoury gyro served amongst intriguing decor. The waitressing was prompt, precise, and courteous. Most importantly, I appreciated the quiet atmosphere, in which I could converse without being disturbed by patrons nearby. Overall, a reliable Greek restaurant to which I will most certainly return with more company in tow.

Spanakopita was good but got the greek salad and it was unsatisfactory. The tomatoes were soggy, the flavor wasn't that great and just didn't taste fresh. I did get take out mind you. I have eaten there and it has been better. $12 for a greek salad was a lot for such a disappointment. Very small as well

We ordered through door dash, our food took over 1 1/2 hrs to be ready not including the driving time. the door dasher waited at the restaurant for over 30 mins and they tried to get him to “drop” the order. When the food finally arrived, all of it was bland and the soups watery, they forgot our drinks. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this place:(

I don't give reviews often but this place was just so bad, I don't understand how it can be so well rated here. We were given one sticky plastic menu for three, two sets of cutlery only, and sat in that poorly lit room with this cheap and loud music and sticky floor. The food was very salty and greasy and waaay overpriced! It left a bad taste in our mouths and sat like a stone in our stomachs. Will not return.

Sfinaki Greek Taverna is indeed the best Greek food restaurant in Burnaby. The food is absolutely well prepared and the prices for Greek food reasonable, but not cheap. If you want a nice and friendly experience Sfinaki is the place! One suggestion if I may ... they do need to install air conditioning in the middle of summer when it gets hot ... ceiling fans alone will not do it.

I'm new to the neighborhood and ordered lunch from Sfinaki for the second time in a row today. I walked to pick up my food in a tiny window that I had between meetings, and after paying, had to leave before the food was ready to get back to my (work from home) desk for a board meeting. Within minutes of returning home, I had a phone call from the owner of the restaurant asking what had gone wrong, and whether he could hand-deliver my meal!! Thank you for going above and beyond - I will be back (soon!)

Ordered the kalamari appetizer, arni psito lamb shoulder, mousaka, and baklava dessert. $51 +tip Kalamari was great. Meals were both good. The mousaka was a bit disappointing because it wasn't very thick so you didn't get a lot of eggplant or zucchini in each bite and the bechamel was over toasted. Baklava was pretty great. Prices seemed to be lower than other Greek places but the meal has more rice and less main course.

On Mother's Day our table felt quite ignored without our server to check on us periodically. We did need drink top-ups and waited a long time for someone to come check in. Had to physically go to the server area to ask for another drink and one girl said that she didn't know if she could still serve us...???

I checked out this restaurant because it got the best Greek restaurant in Burnaby. I had a high expectation, but I was disappointed. I ordered the calamari set. The rice and potato were alright in terms of flavour. Unfortunately, the calamari wasn't flavourful at all. I had to add salt and pepper to make it tastier. For the price of $20, it was not worth it. To end on the good note, their pita bread was delicious!

I wish they added some veggies to their dinners (other than just the Greek salad, ...maybe in their rice?) and wish that they still had an option of whole wheat pita bread, but hey I’m probably in the minority! Carb heavy, traditional Greek meals. The Chicken Souvlakia or chicken gyro dinners are our meals of choice.

Not recommended if you have any allergies or gluten issues, otherwise this is a basic, run of the mill Greek restaurant. Nothing amazing, but nice enough decor and fine if you don't have any dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, I do. I visited in late summer with my family to support a local restaurant with a patio during covid, and the staff had almost no idea what was in their food. When I told the first server I was gluten intolerant and asked if a certain dish had gluten in it she told me she didn't want to bother the kitchen... there was only 1 other table of 2 people there... Then she told me I could have the fries without the feta cheese. When I asked what was wrong with the cheese, she said she didn't know, but she thought I couldn't eat it... Obviously not feeling comfortable with her recommendations, I asked if there was anyone else who might be able to help. Finally another server came out and told me that although the fries came pre-seasoned in a box and there were no ingredients listed, her friend who is vegan could eat them without any problems... What did I end up with? An uninspiring Greek salad with 1 olive.

It is not often that I have to give a negative review as I am not a picky eater but this place was disappointing. The reviews of this place were highly rated, however the food we ordered was expensive and overpriced. Portion sizes were smaller compared to other Greek restaurants. To add insult of injury, we experienced a bad stomachache and food poisoning as a result of our meal. I have never experienced food poisoning before when dining out but it happened here. Definitely will not go back again. Not recommended. There are plenty of other better Greek restaurants out there that I would recommend over Sfinaki's.

Easy take out, our roast lamb dinner was well packed and hot! Wish we could dine in as the restaurant is well decorated and lovely. Food was tasty and hit the spot. Only downside was they don’t include tzatziki with the roast lamb dinner so you have to ask for it and pay extra.

We were worried during these COVID times but the rigorous cleaning, clean environment and delicious food went hand in hand with the server's wonderful personality. The garlic prawns, lamb gyros, fries and pita were luvly. I have no idea what seasoning they put on the fries but had a great crunch as well. The only regret i have is the lack of real estate in my tummy for more. Once i digest, i will be back...preferably with looser pants lol...

My very first visit here. Was greeted by a supper nice waitress /hostist Lilly. Was planning to order a simple take out donair. But when she introduces the rich menu, I decided to sit down for a good meal. Ordered my forever favorite chicken souvlaki platter with rice. Water served rightway. Nice mediteran music and family oriented decos. Nice and Clean. I see Lilly sanitized and cleaned the table thoroughly (I always observe this when dining in a restaurant to ditermin if I should come back). The food is so delicious. Souvlaki skewer are flamed outside (not burned), inside is moistured, the flaver is locked inside perfectly. The homemade tzaziki sauce is formed nicely, too. It's a perfect meal. I saw some reviews say a bit pricing, but I will say for a nice dining, with a such high quality food and atmosphere, you won't regret spending couple of bucks more. Yap. My bill is only 22.00 with tax. The take out kiosk same platter will cost you around 18.00 plus. And this restaurant cook your fresh fresh meals. Highly recommended. And thank you so much for all the staff here and any business that are still open to serve us. U guys are heroes. Thank Lilly, for your service excellency!!! Keep up the great work. Recently discovered this gem in my neighborhood too! There's so many Greek restaurants but none I can say compare to Sfinaki's. Food and service are BOTH great! I love their Roasted Lamb with the mint sauce and their calamari...only complaint is please more tzatziki sauce for dipping (charge otherwise)! Has been consistently good the 4 times we have visited. The 2 sisters are so pleasant and make you feel right at home!

We tried this place for dinner the other night. I have to say it was very dissapointing, it's hard to believe it was rated best greek food in Burnaby. They ran out of chicken souvlaki, as well as a few other dishes we wanted. We ended up getting the beef souvlaki which was tough and flavourless, the rice tasted like plain steamed rice no vegetables or flavour in it. The small half potato was not marinated in lemon or olive oil, just quickly baked in the oven. The greek salad did not have any green peppers in it and very little feta on top, and one small olive. The portions were very small, yet the prices were high. There was also a loud, vulgar, intoxicated women yelling, yet none of the staff asked her to quiet down, in fact they were still serving her alcohol, and everyone had to listen to her as well as children in the restaurant. Would not return to this restaurant. I like to support small local businesses, but find it hard to do so with this establishment.

For a restuarant that keeps winning the best Greek resturant in Burnaby, I was expecting much better customer service. We were seated and 10 minutes later had our order taken. Weren't asked if we wanted anything to drink while looking over the menu. The food is lacking any real flavor. For $20 a plate I could have gotten better at a food court. At the end of the meal I was going to try for some baklava told the server we were going to get something, after she came back to two other tables without stopping at us and 7 minutes passing by I asked for the bill.

I've been taking the bus in front of this restaurant over the past 6 months, always wanting to eat there. Finally did it last week, and God I don't regret it. Best lamb I've had in a while. Go prepared to EAT as portions are generous and dishes come with greek salad and bread.

Great tasting roast lamb, very tender and juicy, but I wish they put in some more veggies on the side like some other Greek restaurants. It's just a big plate of pulled lamb and rice, with a potato on the side. I would give this a 4/5, but the price is a bit high, and I've never before been charged a buck for a small cup of tzatziki sauce at a Greek place.

My niece's lamb was a bit salty for her palate but they changed it for something else to her liking which I think wad very nice.And they did it gladly with a smile. Ordered takeout a few weeks ago. Portion sizes are bit on the small side for what you pay. The lamb shoulder was the best out of the slot. Calamari portion was very small. Tzatziki needed more seasoning. Likely will be trying out another place next time.

I live in Kitsilano. I frequent Greek Days often. I had to pick up my son from school in Burnaby and decided to pick up some dinner while I was out there. I saw Sfinaki and had a craving for Greek. All I can say is that the food was outstanding! Parking was easy in the back. Owners are friendly and so was the one staff member. Excellent experience. My son loved the lamb. We definitely recommend and will go back again.

Unfortunately I don’t have anything good to say about this establishment. The last time we ordered, they messed the order up which caused the food to be an hour later than expected. They tried to get the doordash driver to cancel it w/o contacting us to find a solution that worked for everyone. Food was either bland or way too salty in the end. Won’t order from them or recommend them to friends or family.

Food was okay I had the roast lamb. But the service wasn't good at all. They had 3 tables and I had to wave at them to get any service. If I go back and got treated like dirt again I would have to talk with the owner and let him know. The service really is very bad.

This place has gone down hill, in service and the food. I was in the other day and ordered the Mousaka. It came out burnt on the top the potato wasn’t put in the over just boiled and left to sit in lemon juice. The server just dropped it on the table and walked away. Never came to see if it was okay just came with the bill. I was in a couple of days before and ordered the roast lam ( I love roast lam ) I didn’t even finish it. Again never checked to see if it was okay just came with the bill. The only reason I went the second time was my birthday was coming and my daughter wanted to go as I used to take her here when she was little. So I thought I would give it one more try. Save your self the money and time and find some place else. ONE STAR AS YOU CAN"T GIVE 0

Unfortunately, Sfinaki's is a shadow of its former self. We used to enjoy great Greek fare here. The servings now are very average - especially the salad that comes with the meal. I thought it was a joke when they served the salad in the tiniest of bowls. Quality of the food was ok, but not remarkable. Don't think I'll be back.

It`s been a while since I`ve been here. The food is very good, Calamari was very crisp and clean oil, the Chicken Gyro was yummy, however, it didn`t need the french fries on there. I asked the waitress what kind of craft beer they had. She didn`t know what craft beer was ? So, I asked for a menu and asked here was beers from Steamworks, 33 acres and Parallel 49 they carried. She had no idea, she went to the bar and came back and said only Lager ? She was lost, it took 5 minutes to get a real answer as you have 3 big local brweries you are not going to only sell the same beer from 3 different breweries.

Came here for a party a few years ago and been meaning to come back. It’s a bit far for me but overall it’s a nice restaurant. Family owned restaurant. Great service. Good food. The prices are decent. It can take some time to get your food but the ambience is nice. No AC but they have lots of fans. Street parking, easy to find spots.
