Great Lunch Special! Great Chinese food! My family comes here all the time. My parents and grandparents love it too! For $7. 50 you get a large entrée (choose from over 50 dishes) plus your choice of soup, coffee or Hong Kong milk tea! Our favourites are the beef biscuit chow mein and eggplant garlic chili with rice. The waitress is very nice, and the chef makes great Chinese food! Paul's opens at 11am and closes at 3pm on Mondays, 9pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 10pm Fridays and weekends. Highly recommend!
They are on Uber eats now and up the prices for that (most restaurants do because they take a large percentage). But I have been ordering from them directly for years and they always were great. They will go above and beyond to get your order to you (same delivery guy coming for years when my phone sucked and told new drivers to knock on my apt window and where to go). They also will take orders late if you live close. Be sure to tip your driver well or donate to the restaurant if you get Uber. Five star for customer service always for them. Food is very consistent. Good combos.
Sometimes I crave non-authentic Chinese food so my go-to is Burnaby Palace but they wouldn't accept my credit card that day nor did I feel like calling them or paying through a DoorDash so I settled for Paul's Restaurant via SkipTheDishes. I got the crispy beef chow mein with black bean sauce but had I known you'd add actual douchi (豆豉) as a topping I would have ordered it without that. I have no idea why you would do that to such a classic dish. Definitely make that more clear on your menu. I also got the egg white fried rice with dried scallop. That was great so keep doing that I also wish you'd make shrimp spring rolls. Burnaby Palace offers those. Vegetable spring rolls are not for me.
(Translated) When I go to this hall, the little stir-fried beef stir-fried noodles and shredded pork noodles must be cooked. Xingzhou fried rice, deep-fried fish fillet and tofu pot, can even simmer. Fish rice. Has been patronizing for less than nine years and is considered a long-term customer. Near Hastings st. Near macquil library.
This restaurant is very rude. I ordered the dish yesterday as their required a day of ahead. I paid by my credit card immediately once I ordered the dish. They just canceled the dish before 10 minutes I should already got the food today without reason.
Poor quality food. Duck was just bone. Chicken was stringy and there was no pork in the bbq pork fried rice. Rang to discuss the manager started shouting at me. Refused to give me a refund. I wouldn't feed this food to my dog.
Horrible food - forgot to send an item which they were offering free with food order of $35. Mine was over $50.00. never again.
Good old fashion Cantonese dishes.
Mom and Pop Chinese Canadian food. Good prices and portions.
The salted egg yolk bun is delicious! Was pleasantly surprised at how authentic it tasted, would be ordering again.
Large portions, Was hot when I picked up my order. I enjoy the meal.
The super deluxe burger with fries was fantastic!!
Great food and the service was hospitable. Definitely coming again.
Simple Cantonese style Chinese food. Every time I’ve been here, service has been great. Food well seasoned. Always accommodating when we ask for less salt.
Worth every dollar, out of all the take out Chinese restaurants that deliver this place does it the best. It came warm and tasted amazing, not too salty, not soggy and the spring rolls are a nice size.
We got 2 combination for 1 dinners. The fried rice was good. The sweet and sour chicken was soggy. The lemon chicken sauce wasn’t good. It tastes like simple syrup with a little bit of lemon. I don’t think we’ll be back
Good fresh hot food
food not great
Connie, the waitress is a very good server, and the food is great very tasty, and good prices and they are licensed. We enjoy eating here, and family friendly and right by the bus stop on Hastings street.
Huge portions but otherwise very sub par food. They forgot my spring roll as well
yummy
Beware when ordering from skip the dishes. They have upped all the prices significantly. It's cheaper to order directly from the restaurant.
Dine in is good when you get the experienced waitress but not so good when you get the one that continues to talk to family and friends and serves you when shes done. Other than that the food is good and the prices good. I think I will try the delivery next time
This has to be one of the easiest 5 stars a person can give. Amazing food and super generous portions. I definitely won't stop eating here!
Taste: 8/10 Value: 8/10 Family loves coming here for authentic Chinese food (that's not in Richmond). This place is humble and not fancy inside at all, but food is tasty and price is good! Ordered 3 dishes deal: Fried meat: fried pork! Pretty good Spicy beef bowl si chuan style: really good one of my fav dishes here if u like the si chuan beef style. Fish and tofu hot pot bowl: really classicly done. Good taste good seasoning. Chicken (comes along) good! Overall, we come here often as a family and food is good! :) @nomnomstyle
Great food good service.
Excellent food.
Very tasty Cantonese food. Thought I was in HK. Great taste, friendly restaurant.
Service
fresh and home-style Chinese food. Kids love it!

Used skipthedishes from this restaurant. Absolutely disgusting. I have not ate anything that bad in a while. Would never recommend to anyone.
Service
Great food - family run!
I love them! Ordered on Uber Eats!
????
Was in a 3pm today ordered meal for 3 special..so delicious and good value , support local shops
There is a huge price difference between ordering direct from Paul's compared to ordering from Skip the Dishes. The congee for example is $11.50 on Skip the Dishes while it is only $7.50 on Paul's own menu. Pretty big rip off from Skip the Dishes, IMHO.
Got some take out and staff was super friendly and welcoming. Generous portions and great prices. Will be returning soon!
I really love this restaurant...they always have great food and great prices...also they don't charge for delivery like uber and skip.. I order straight from them...and I'm never disappointed ????????
New ownership. The food is still pretty good. Combo dinners do not appear in the menu but are posted on the wall.
Excellent food under new cook and owner--hum drum facilities
Should call it deep fried flour with chicken
Delicious Chinese cuisine
Great flavors! Prices are good for the area.
Wonderful staff! If you go in person for takeout you save so much over using skip or Uber. Great food, great people. Highly recommend them!
Delivery
When you say they are rude and food is bad, please don’t forget Elisa and what happened to them ????
Never a bad meal...huge portions...good variety...interior not fancy but clean
Generous servings. Attentive service.
Have ordered from here a few times. Food is ok, service is quick if anything. Still looking for other options.
Always loved this restaurant. I've been eating here since I was 6 years old and I'm nearly 40. When I think of chinese food I think of the food here.
Tasty dishes. Large menu. Something for everyone! Very kind and efficient staff. Nice Covid protocol in place. Great place to pick up dinner and take it home to share with your family!!
The Sweet and Sour Pork is the best!!! Love it!
The portion is really big for its price, but the food was not good at all.. The Singapore Noodles were very watery and lacked seasoning. Honey garlic chicken was just bad, meat wasn’t fresh at all and was almost non-excisting compared to the amount of batter. Deep fried wonton was just a big dissapointment. Will definitely not order again and won’t recommend it to anyone.
Price is different and higher than the menu, and the portion is small.
Meal type
Been going for 38 years love it they have had few owners the one now has done the food a lot better then the last one it's cheap you get a lot of food love it
I order from Paul's for my office lunches and everyone wants to know where I got the food from because of its quality and value. Fried rice is never oily and taste is consistently great.
Korean style chains foods
Pretty damn good for a hole in the wall
Dine in
Good portion and taste good.
We ordered the dinner for two, plenty of food to feed us both and have food to take home. The wonton soup is delicious, with real dumplings! The sweet and sour pork, beef veggie, and spring rolls were really tasty. The chicken chow mein barely had chicken in it and was a bit dry, but decent. For the price and amount of food you get, it’s pretty good!
I vaguely recall having visited some years ago and feeling neutral, but we went the other day and the food was very good, the price reasonable, and the service just fine. I suspect there may have been a change of ownership. So OK, this is your typical family-run greasy chopsticks so don't expect the Ritz. Their pretty young daughter was doing activities at one table which for some might be a negative, but I really like the friendly atmosphere of such places...so long as the food is delicious which it was. The owners speak Mandarin and Cantonese as well of course English. Excellent value for a filling lunch.
All family members like everything we have eaten. I especially like the sweet & sour pork with pineapples.
Small restaurant, not great tasting but just ok for quick meal. Family operated, friendly and convenient for locals
Have been ordering from Paul's for a while now. Food is good especially the garlic pork with spicey salt. Food is always delivered hot. Prices are reasonable.
We visited this Chinese eatery in Burnaby recently. We tried their spicy schezwan pork noodles (tolerable spicy) ; the portion size was huge & good enough for two people. We ordered another spicy chicken wonton soup which was too hot & spicy for us. Somehow we managed to finish the wontons and could not taste the soup. Nice covid protocol in place.
the honey garlic chicken was so sweet that I got a sugar rush and felt sick! the meat would have been good if the sauce was less sweet and thicker. it literally looked like watery syrup. the spicy ginger beef wasn't spicy at all and was sweet aswell....someone needs to taste test their food!
DELICIOUS very nice staff and good service. definitely recommend and definitely would go again. yummm
Clean place with nice servers. Not very busy unfortunately but food is flavoursome
Great food and great customer service.
Good food, big portions, great service. Simple place but excellent value.
Super rude staff lady at the front desk
Originally I checked out Paul's because of the L.L. connection. But the food is great and so is the price. I'll make it tradition now to visit for a plate of hot ginger beef any time I'm in the city.
Had to toss my order in the garbage. There is clearly a bug in my food.
Always delicious, consistent, fresh, and ready quickly. Their hot and sour soup is my favourite in all of Vancouver/Burnaby!
Extremely delish Chinese food – I love coming here!
Awesome fiss and chips.
Will be going back to try again dishes soon looked like Good prices can wait to try
Love coming to see Connie on Friday's. It is our weekly restaurant of choice.
Good western style Chinese with a nice selection of authentic cantonese. Excellent value for quantity and quality. My usual is the Chicken with Chinese mushrooms on steamed rice ???? I get black bean sauce added and it comes with a few Bok Choy pieces...Makes for a very satisfying lunch with leftovers for dinner even!! That is if you have any self control; which I usually do not ???? The total with GST is only $13????????????
Open late, hot food and great portions! Combo #1 hit the spot!
I know I should have listened to the bad reviews....no idea where the good ones came from!! In short...I have never seen house special rice with corn?! And last I heard lemon chicken needs lemon sauce.
Omg! Skip the dishes which I do not trust anymore gave them a 9 out of 10. We ordered lettuce wraps and the house chow Mein. Very disappointing. Tasteless,
Placed 2 orders on skip the dishes and had them cancelled for know reason i also paid with my credit card.
Worse than food court Chinese food. Cheap ingredients, non Chinese ingredients (green beans? Really?) Mystery meat in the chow mein, maybe chunk of fish?
Good Chinese food
Good food, Good price for the amount of food, Good service
Better late then never! Ordered delivery something off the Western menu and some Chinese. I wouldn't recommend ordering the burger for delivery it came mushy and cold fries. The Chinese food was good though!
TERRIBLE. The wrong order was delivered to our house through SKIP. I called the resto and the lady on the phone started screaming "GIVE ME YOUR ADDRESS I BRING YOU YOUR FOOD YOU GIVE ME BACK THE OTHER ONE, I called Skip the dishes, they are wrong THEY WON'T COME BACK" They gave the Skip driver the wrong order, proceeded to blame skip and here I am hungry and being screamed at by someone who may need better CSR training. Had to remind them that "YOU gave the driver the wrong order. The driver does not just TAKE what they want". Just in case, I left a note in the food in case they were about to send the food that was delivered and sitting on our counter for 15 minutes to the other customers. Later received a text from the restaurant with a photo of said letter stating they don't recycle food, so that is the reason for the 1 star. At the end if this melee, our "Honey Garlic Chicken" was soggy... And 70% battered fried fat, and our "House Special Chow Mein sub Crispy Noodle" was very flaccid in both texture and flavor. Advice to restaurants all around. Don't abuse the fact that you have a phone number and start texting your customers. VERY unprofessional.
Always great food at a great price! Sometimes the order isn't exactly what was expected, but it is always great food!
I enjoyed the veggie curry from their lunch special. There was something for everyone in my family. Although, I couldn't eat the got and sour soup due to the eggs in it. I like helping out the smaller independant restaurants.
Used to be good but how it's awful.
Great taste and very friendly service. Great prices from lunch menu.
Delicious.
Big delicious plates for decent prices. I’ve been coming here my many years, the foods always good. Large portions for good prices. I will admit the dine in experience isn’t amazing. But the staff are kind and patient. Great place to take out food for sure.
I loved the food, and the staff is very friendly! During a pandemic I highly encourage you to support family owned, local restaurants. This family deserves your support!
Just really good all around
I ordered from skip the dishes two nights ago. I read the review previous to mine after ordering, however, fortunately I had the opposite experience. I ordered The honey garlic pork (they offer spareibs and boneless ) vegetable beef s Chowmein and steamed rice. It was perfection. The servings were so large- when the driver handed me the bag I thought there was a mistake because it was so heavy! It was packaged nicely, it tasted DELICIOUS and is what I've been searching for from a Chinese food establishment. I didn't feel ill after eating, as previous reviewer mentioned. Had leftover for two days. Will be back. Thank you!
Dinner
Adumpinder very angry about quality he receive. Prabesh was so anger with food that he almost get in face of the wait server!
Amazing!
Big portion, mediocre quality.
Good cheap food. Great prices
(Translated) Really unpalatable (Original) 真够难吃的
This place is awesome, owners are super friendly, they serve their food FAST!
You’re reading through these reviews right now and it seems to be a mixed bag of good and bad. So you think “why not give it a go? I mean, even bad Chinese food is still pretty good.” This is where you’re mistaken. I am in complete awe at just how horrible this food was. Food that you think would be impossible to screw up. It was incredible. Never before did I think someone would try to make honey garlic chicken by frying little chunks of..... I’m not sure what. Maybe there was chicken in there? Some pieces tasted distinctly fishy. Anywho, so they fried up some crud and then seemed to soak it in what appeared to be just straight up honey. Have you ever eaten tablespoons full of honey? I now have. And I can tell you it’s not a fun time. My mouth physically hurt from the sugar content. The noodles were inexplicably mushy, bloated, and over cooked and the veggies in with them were also something for your mouth to behold. Never before have I tasted vegetables that tasted that bad. I honestly don’t know how they did it. Previously I thought it was impossible to make vegetables that awful. If I survive tonight (ever just know that food will make you sick right after you eat it?) I may actually need to send this restaurant a thank you card for opening my eyes to the culinary horrors that exist in the world. I now know that my life has been a padded, curated experience up until now. I am now a changed person. Thank you, Paul’s Chinese Restaurant, for helping me learn that no matter how bad it seems it can always get worse.
Delicious food ????
I have ordered here a few times using Uber eats now. The combo for 1 is a great deal because for around $19 you can get a platter of fried rice, chow mein, and some sort of meat. If you're craving oily fast food Chinese grub then this hits the spot! However we ordered the beef and broccoli the other night and IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! It tasted like there was absolutely ZERO sauce. We put a piece of beef into our mouths and it tasted like we were chewing beef that had been sitting in water. Disgusting and extremely disappointed because it cost $18. I'll have to either throw the whole thing out or go out of my way to make my own beef and brocooli sauce to add, which defeats the purpose of ordering out.
Reasonable prices and tasty take out.
Beef and Green Beans in Black bean sauce was disappointing. Lots of beans and only 3-4 small pieces of beef. Very pricey for what you get. Spring rolls were nice.
I ordered from SkipTheDishes. They phone back to double check my order and to verify that my requirements were met. They were extremely quick and the food was awesome I highly recommend this place
Good food, good service.
Good standard Chinese food. Good price Good selection Nice people Hard working
Best BEST ginger beef that I have EVER HAD. Great quality for delivery or pickup through Skip, not as great via their own courier service. Hot and fresh upon arrival.
Good food, good prices.
(Translated) Food is much better and really yummy that we order everyday. Food is much better and really yummy that we order everyday. Fresh and not greasy! Recommended! (Original) Food is much better and really yummy that we order everyday.小餐館而有可囗美食!新鮮不油膩!值得推薦!
Service, food & price are good
I have been going to Paul's Restaurant for 20 years and they never disappoint me. The spicy deep fried pork is quite awesome.
Ordered take out house chow mein and it was loaded with veggies, seafood, chicken, bbq pork and noodles. I'm so happy I ignored their star rating and gave it a try :) Delicious!!!
Meal type
The owner and servers are absolutely rude and provide 0 customer service. I ordered lunch menu #2, it was disgusting. Being a Chinese, I will not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you are looking for a tasteless place with disrespect, this is the place to go.
They have good lunch specials selection. The food is good and not to greasy and salty plus come with a hot and sour soup which is pretty good. I find it's a good place for meal if you're not in a rush.
The worse Chinese food we have ever had. Had a few bites and threw our whole dinner for 2 in the garbage!!!garlic Beef and vegetables tasted like water . They use no seasoning and no SALT. Wonton soup tasted like water with under seasoned wontons. The spring rolls had nothing in them … it was a bite of deep fried bread. Never eat here again! Please pick another place.
Very good food - not the usual bland Chinese - and excellent service. Recommend it any day.
Dinner
Great prices and great food
