Went for "buy one, get one half price haddock".. Ordered the haddock meal with a side salad.. Ate the food which was quite mediocre.. Took a long time to receive our food. We saw people who came in well after we ordered , getting their food before us. I was expecting a bill approximately in the $35- 45 range. The bill ended up being over $60 because apparently if you order the side salad, that meal is not included in the deal. The waitress never mentioned that when we first ordered or after we had our food. It wasn't until I went to pay that I found out it was only the "one piece with chips" only. Very disappointed with this restaurant. The food wasn't bad, but I would not write home about it. The fish and chip meal at Wahoo's Pub, and a hell of a lot cheaper. ($11.99) on daily special, and the fish was tenfold better. Do not waste your money, there are better fish and chip places out there.

We have visited a number of ‘Captains’ in various towns along the St Laurence. We sometime drive from Ottawa to Cornwall to eat at the George’s there. Good prices, good food, and usually pretty good service. There is some variation from outlet to outlet, however.

The food is as good they have many options from fish and chips to burgers and salads . The fish and chips was good and the sauce was really good too . The place could use a renovation and could be faster . The other thing I think they didn’t change the oil for the fries for a while. I would recommend the food still but maybe take it and have it in a park or somewhere.

Enjoyed the atmosphere and they had very good customer service! Unfortunately however when it came to the food, I found my burger to be really soft, and my companion found her food to be undercooked. They do have very convenient hours however, so if your looking for a decent place to eat at a time when others may be closed then this is your spot!

Why do restaurants pile on the fries? My wife and I went there for her birthday meal on Monday, because in this area most restaurants are closed or have no dine in. The waitress, who was working alone was very efficient and quick, but her loud displeasure with the cook was a bit over the top. We sat in their tiny, outside patio, but I was glad I had a long-sleeved shirt on because the metal patio tables were so rusted out that there were very sharp areas along the edges. The server was great at suggesting ways that we, and the other patrons could order our meals at cost saving prices. All in all it was a good experience, save for the dangerously sharp table edges.

I am writing this in hopes that the restaurant reads this. It is important. Everything about your place would be fabulous except what you serve has a hamburger was not even close to real beef. It was so full of what I can only guess as grains, fat and what ever. IT was tasteless and did not even look like meat. Please reconsider what product you are using. It is not a good feeling to write a less than positive review. We liked everything else and we will try going there again and hopefully the quality of the meat you are using will have improved. Seriously...you would get 4 stars from me otherwise.

Captain George's is nice. It's a fish and chips place, so not too much focus on decor or anything. It wasn't too busy when we came in, but the tables were not completely clean either. Maybe someone had just left? I will say though the staff are nice young people, and the food is good.

You get what's normally expected at a Capt George's: fish+chips, and some related Greek food too. Donair dinner's great, as well as the usual fish&chips. There's a patio, it's quite a nice atmosphere in downtown Trenton. Staff are super nice, and portions are definitely more than enough. Prices average. Would recommend! Great value for what you're getting.

We went for lunch on a Sunday here. Being new to the city, this was one of the very few fish and chips places that had hassle free parking and dine in option. The location is tucked away from all the parking issues in Brockville. Hence the decision to go there. But I am glad I went there with my dad. The staff was very friendly, and we had a wonderful time at George's. I had a plate of fish ( halibut) and chips, as seen in the picture. And we shared an appetiser which included clams and shrimps. It was supposed to be scallops as well, but they had a shortage at the time. Although I wished they compensated for the lack of scallops by tossing in some shrimps, I have only good things to say about the food they gave. The batter was so light and crispy on the shrimp. It was delicious! The fish was light and flaky within the crispy batter as well. Fries could be crispier and less time in the fryer would do justice to them. I would go there again for sure.

This is a hidden gem in Trenton. Our family decided to explore the city on Sunday and found this Fish and Chip shop somewhat by accident. Very reasonably priced and hot and flaky fish. We had the Halibut Family package of 4 pcs of fish + small fries, a side order of poutine, and the calamari appetizer. Calamari was fresh and crunchy, not stringy or chewy. Fish was light and crispy with generous portion sizes. Fries were exceptionally good. Deep fried to a golden brown crisp. Couldn't stop eating them and I am very restrictive on my carb intake. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the poutine because my wife at it all before I could try. Apparently that is good also. Highly recommended. Worth the drive to Trenton and definitely worth the detour off the 401 if you are passing by. Lots of free parking. It was empty when I got there at around 4 PM but apparently I was lucky because the lot was pretty full by 5 PM when we left. There is street parking also available and a patio overlooking the St. Lawrence inlet. Beautiful location to spend the day. Right next to the big arch bridge on Dundas Street. Located at the SW corner of Dundas and Front/Fraser Park Drive. Staff was friendly and fast also. Will go again and bring my Mom from Hamilton who also loves Fish and Chips. I'm telling co-workers in Ottawa about this place too.

Don’t bother going here if you’re in any sort of hurry or have plans. I called in an order and was told 20 minutes, well 30 minutes later my order was finally done. They said they were too busy, yet there was a cook sitting in the dining room and another standing at the till. We paid $25 for 2 paper thin pieces of fish. So I was late and it was absolutely terrible. If you try saying anything you’re wrong and the bad customer, it’s never heir fault. Any other restaurant makes sure to have pick up orders done on time, whether their busy in the restaurant or not. It’s too bad, years ago we used to go here, but now they just make you feel like you’re the problem.

Holy, attitude Lady. I'll start this review positive. The food was great. I had the salmon burger and it was juicy and not over flowing with tartar sauce. My mother had cod and a salad. Both of these items were displayed specials. We ordered at 2:05 p.m. and at 2:35 we still hadn't gotten our meals. Oddly, a group of three women who came in after us got all their food before us. But that isn't why I'm giving two stars. At 2:35 my mother and I realized we were going to late for a doctor's appointment. So we went up to the counter and said unfortunately we had to go because it was taking too long and we were going to be late. Instead of apologizing for the delay she became extremely defensive and said that the salmon burgers take a long time to cook and that's what we had ordered. Two things: 1. Salmon burger was listed as a special item, it was fair to assume it would be readily available. 2. You don't blame the person who is giving you their money. You say "I'm sorry it is taking long than you expected. Our salmon burgers take longer to cook." Not only did she become very defensive to us, she was loudly defensive to us in front of the rest of the restaurant. Luckily our food WAS ready at this point and we inhaled it. To make matters worse, as we inhaled we could HEAR HER in the back chirping us for having the audacity for asking about our food after waiting 30 minutes. On a $24 lunch I gave a $2.50 tip. I think that was more than generous. I gave that tip because the food was good and she gave us a cup of water for our dog outside. We won't be returning.

Ordered food yesterday. They forgot my salad. Not a big deal. Called and they set one aside for me. So I decide to order tonight, for delivery and have that added to my order. I requested a burger with lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup and mustard. I dont like tomatoes or relish. My burger was delivered with ketchup, mustard, RELISH, TOMATOES, and like 3 tiny bits of onion. I'm fat so I'll eat it. Still rating a four, because the fish yesterday was delicious, the fries were great, and despite not having what I wanted on my burger, it is tasty. Maybe third times a charm?

I didnt know this restaurant was trying to make back all their losses in one summer by raising all menu by prices by $1 to $2. I paid over $21 for 1 fish and chips on take-out. I have been customer for 10 yrs. never again.

Captain George's was not my first choice for a restaurant this evening, It was actually my third! But it is where I ended up tonight. I ordered a clubhouse sandwich and a side of deep fried mac and cheese bites. The sandwich itself was just "ok" but not what I was expecting as it was served on a bun instead of on toast ... And the fries were undercooked! As for the mac and cheese bites.. they were inedible! The meal was definitely not worth the $25.00

Don’t go here if you’re hungry. I wouldn’t mind so much if they went and caught the fish, battered it fresh and fried it properly however that’s not what you get. Instead you wait for 40 minutes for soggy, sad, frozen, over priced fish and like literally a pound of soggy fries shoved in a box.

Should have done this sooner. Grabbed lunch (Halibut & chips) a couple weeks ago on my way somewhere. Service was friendly, food was good, no complaints. Portion sizes of fish (2pcs) was fair. Will definitely go back again.

Was driving back to Toronto from Quebec and needed to stop for gas and a meal. Did a quick Google search of restaurants nearby. The high reviews are absolutely accurate. I ordered a two piece Halibut and chips. It's as good as anything I've ever had in Halifax.

Forgive the fact that I dug in before snapping a pic. It's pricey, but that's fish and chips for you. I got the Capt. Georges platter, and everything is pretty tasty. Decent amount of food for $30 too, probably enough for two people. They've got a military discount too which is very nice. Just need to show your ID.

Amazing fish and chips place! I ordered fish tacos and chips. The tacos and “secret sauce” on them were very tasty! The waiter was nice and friendly. The dish was a good size for the price, very filling. I am not from the area, but I will make a point of stopping in Brokeville again and visit Captain George’s!

Ordered a shiskabob and a garden salad, as a take out. Got a Pita with a greek salad after they were specifically told twice what was wanted and not a pita and a greek salad. I also found the fries looked like they had been recooked in very old grease. and the fish was terrible. I will not order from here again, I will return to Dons Fish & Chips first. Captain Georges was disgusting. Pretty bad when you cant get a simple order right. I was going to take the whole thing back but because it was take out and out near Lyn, not worth wasting my gas. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. They will never get a second shot.

Tonight I ordered take out for myself and my 2 children and was shocked to be paying almost $55 for the 3 of us. When I questioned the price the girl informed me that halibut is much more expensive (which I know). Upon further inspection of my bill I realized they charge $11,99 for childrens meals. $11.99? Really? And as has been stated in another review I read, the halibut was paper thin, and extremely overcooked and dry. The edges were like shoe leather. I will say that the staff was very nice, and my Greek salad was good, but I am very unlikely to return due to the exorbitant price and poor quality of the fish. What a waste of money.

Loved this place. The owners were super friendly. It was clean, the food was reasonably priced and I enjoyed my food with no complaints. Good potions, cooked to perfection, and served hot in a timely manner. I should add that I don’t often eat fish and chips as I don’t care for it but this place changed my mind!

Unfortunate experience for us during peek hour on a Friday. Called ahead to check if they could accommodate a party of 8 (including 3 kids), but it's first come first serve - fair enough. We take our chances. The Annoyed waitress seats us after her boss tells her to put some tables together. An Hour goes by without any checkups from our waitress. We flag her down, and she says the food is being worked on, but it's busy and we should know that. lol fair enough, but an hour is too long, and we just can't wait any longer with the kids here so we walked out of there - my first time walking out of a restaurant. Not sure why she ignored us for so long, we were polite, and I'd say overly patient.

Stopped in at lunch before a meeting at the municipal offices around the corner. Food was delicious, arrived quickly, and was very hot (a pet peeve of mine is getting a cold restaurant meal). Service was fast and friendly, even though there was only one waitress on duty (it was lunch and not real crowded). Their homemade tartar sauce is great and the coconut cream pie is to die for. Will be back again soon I hope.

Found this spot while on a trip to Trenton to watch the JrA Trenton Golden Hawks play. As we entered just before 7pm on a Sunday you could tell they were preparing to close but the welcomed us after checking vax proof and made a perfect recommendation from the menu. Meal arrived fresh and delicious! Service with a smile in a very clean room. Bathrooms were spotless and the dining area is supported with televisions strategically located for convenient viewing. Highly recommend Captain George and his crew when you are hungry in Trenton. Varied menu not just fish and chips.

This place is not worth the money at all. The fish was overcooked and flavorless, the poutine was absolutely disgusting and they didnt cut up all the fries and there was literally half a potato in it. The calamari dinner tasted like breaded rubber bands. This has to be the worst seafood I've ever had. If you want fish youd be further ahead to go literally anywhere else. Also they offer a military discount however wont honour it if you've already ordered and wouldnt cancel the order and redo it.

Stopped by today on my way home from camping and I was shocked as the reviews did not complement the food I got. We ordered 2 pc of halibut, fries and coleslaw. The portions were small but we looked past that as we had a big craving for fish and chips that we were looking to satisfy. The fish was very dry, when we bit into it it was like we were eating dry overcooked chicken tenders. The fries were definitely re-fried as some were golden brown and the rest were very dark brown. The coleslaw was alright and that’s all I’d recommend this restaurant for. Unfortunately, wife and I had a very bad experience today.

Compared to other Captain George's I've eaten at it's very expensive. $40.00 for fish and chips and a small coleslaw plus tip brings it to around $46. Infact portian's of the fish I ate had a fishy taste which should not be. Nice and clean place

I absolutely loved the cuisine. It was amazing cooked just right and very healthy size portions and by that I mean very large size portions. The food is well worth the price. Fair pricing for the food you receive. Alrhough I must say what made the overall experience great for me was the friendly and unforgettable owner who himself served me my order. I didn't actually to to Captain George's fish and chips, but I went to Cowan's dairy, and it's way better than the one in Cornwall. They give HUGE scoops and the ice cream is awesome. Only downfall, is that there's no place to sit. There's only tables outside.
