What more can be said that hasn’t been said already? Solid 5 stars. I would give more if I could. Thoughtful care and attention to every detail and sensation. One of the highlights of our trip to Galiano.

Our dinner at Pilgrimme was an inspiring experience. The fermented potato bread alone made the entire journey worth it. Deeply rooted in the region and seasonality, the cooking here is both simple and complex, distilled into its essence. Each dish consisted of no more than four or five key ingredients, yet they provided an abundance of sensations of taste, aroma and texture. Eating here is not only about food, but also about memory and we definitely made a lot of wonderful memories. The atmosphere and the hospitality made us feel inherently at home, and we would love to return again.

An extraordinary meal to be had again and again. My party and I traversed here from Seattle taking the BC ferry from Tsawwassen to Galiano, and it was well worth the trek. We went on a Monday, it was the perfect day to go. It was occupied but not overly populated. The dining room is in a cozy log cabin with an unpretentious staff. The food was superb, the sake was unique and the wine selections were great. The smoked rutabaga was like eating elk, incredible!

Nothing short of amazing! Worth a trip to the island for a meal here alone. The hyperlocal dishes were excellent, and drink pairings were on point.

Our company had a special dinner our last evening of the trip. It was absolutely amazing and we are already looking forward to the next visit. It is beyond what I personally imagined and every dish was very unique and full of flavors. We loved it.

One of the best meals we've had in Canada ever. Beautiful hommage to the island and its ingredients. Simple yet complex, local and masterfully executed.

Gastronomy at its finest! Must visit on Galiano!

World class restaurant, tucked away in a beautiful rustic cabin on Galiano Island. This restaurant is worth making a trip to the island for and would be worthy of a couple michelin stars if they existed in Canada. I'll be revisiting every time I'm on Galiano.

Make the trip and go experience this! Not a single dish was a let down — all the plates used local ingredients (coast/forest to table) creating such unique and unforgettable taste. On top of this, Galiano Island was an amazing retreat away from the city, a change of pace that proves nature can always bring so much peace and serenity to our busy lives.

Lovely food, friendly staff, comfortable setting. All of the dishes are intended for sharing and are brought out one at a time. The ingredients are often local and foraged, and are thoughtfully combined.

Absolutely amazing. This is a true diamond in the rough. If you enjoy food and enjoy local cuisine, this is a must. Staff is well informed food and presentation are amazing. They do a sample menu of what is in season so there are 4 seasons to choose from or sample 4 times a year. Excellent will go again .

We let the chefs decide our food and they brought out a spectacular selection of dishes. The staff were very friendly and helpful and guided us through the courses. Each dish was beautifully put together and all tasted unique yet complementary. A must visit place on the island.

High quality food from a chef who has worked around the world. Expensive but a bargain compared to eating the same food in a larger city. Prepared to be amazed at his cooking. Must reserve ahead of time.

Patrick Smerdon

Wonderful service and unique, tasty dishes.

A food lover's paradise. The creativity of the dishes was extraordinary. Options for both vegetarians and meat lovers. Love how so much of what is served here is locally sourced. All the staff we met were excellent and added so much to our experience. Delicious smokey potatoes, cabbage and pork! Amazing roasted beet dish!

Best restaurant in town

Best meal I have had in Canada hands down. Jesse's approach to coastal /foraged/farm to table is unique, unlike other restaurants that do this, Pilgrimme's setting plays a big part. To have a restaurant like this on Galliano island is pretty special in its self. To jump on a ferry and to be out of the hustle and bustle of the mainland and be there for this is so worth it. Thank you for doing what you do team Pilgrimme. Looking forward to going back.

Graeme Campbell

What can I say that hasn't been said? :) Fantastic server and great atmosphere. Very neat, ultra local menu served at just the right speed with great taste variety. Will definitely be back!

David Dunnison

Superb! A fun and fascinating culinary journey. With its forage to table emphasis, Pilgrimme surprised us with plenty of 'I've never had that before' as well as 'I didn't know that was edible' comments. This was true even though we have been following the restaurant, its theme and its chefs for some time. All of these surprises were woven into cohesive and complex dishes with deep taste and textural intrigue. Portion sizes were excellent. We left neither hungry nor over-full. Literally sated. Standouts included both snacks - a yellow pea tostada and a nettle dumpling - along with the painted mountain corn dish and the ling cod cheek with rye crepe. While getting to Pilgrimme (and back) is relatively easy from the mainland, island hopping is a bit more challenging depending on where you are traveling from and back to. Nonetheless, the wait staff and kitchen had no problem in providing us with a well-paced experience easily in time to make the ferry.

Next-level amazing! Creative and sumptuous culinary delicacies!

Incredible meal, hard to describe. Umami bomb of a radicchio dish, with a fermented herring twist. An incredible amuse Bouche of reindeer lichen that melted and crackled in your mouth. More umami bombs of shallot with smoked beef heart and liver grated over the top. World class Nordic meets Gulf islands. Even the bread was out of this world, a charred potato bread with burnt onion butter.

Jordon Lowe

farm- and sea-to-table restaurant situated in the forest using pickled and fermented ingredients in their stunning dishes. well worth the trip to galiano!

My Husband and I have been going to Galiano Island for an annual romantic getaway for the past 5 years and we had never heard of Pilgrimme until a friend mentioned it. We were delighted!!! The service, the food, the ambiance... an amazing experience! I was smiling after every bites and looking at my husband like "I can't believe this!". The research into each plate, the freshness of each product, how professional the staff were, we just fell in love with the place and will include this to our annual Galiano getaway. They also have one of the best restaurant website there is out there, you can tell how proud and passionate they are and the hard work behind all of it.

Natalia Gubareva

Whoa! The words can't describe experience at this place. Beautiful setting, kids friendly, great service and the food to die for! Do not forget to make your reservations months in advance. They book fast!

Hannu Rauma

Amazing food and even better service.

Paul Donnelly

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. An incredible setting in a lovely cabin in the woods, friendly and knowledgeable staff and most importantly: incredibly delicious food. Everything was packed with flavor and texture and used a ton of local ingredients. We didn't leave one crumb on our plates and basically had to be rolled out as we were so full by the end. It's not a cheap night out but also not crazy expensive. Regardless, I'd gladly pay it every time for a dining experience like this.

Pilgrimme offers a truly inspiring dining experience from start to finish, echoing the locavore approach pioneered by Noma. No wonder it's hard to book a table even in low season. The menu is short but every option is tempting in its own, unique way. The rustic atmosphere and an open-kitchen concept contribute a lot to the experience, creating an invigorating mixture of aromas, sounds, tactile feelings and emotions. Speaking of food – it's exceptional. Every course brought a surprise, either in a way of cooking the simple ingredients listed in the menu, or in a way of serving. It's incredibly hard to focus the menu on local ingredients in the midst of the winter but Pilgrimme surpassed our expectations across the board, from the appetizers to desserts. It's a good thing that you need to take a trip across the water to Galiano island to reach Pilgrimme. Otherwise it would be next to impossible to book a table there.

Excellent pairings , very well thought out combinations and fantastic craftsmanship. Truly a gastronomic adventure filled with great textures, and flavors that will tease your taste buds and workout your olfactory nerve. Well worth the price of admission.

I went to Pilgrimme a couple of weeks ago and it did not disappoint. First of all, the restaurant is adorable. You feel like you are in this secret hideaway that nobody knows about. It is rustic, charming and perfectly suited for Galiano. Second, the food is incredible. It's inventive, refreshing and inspired. I felt like all of the dishes we chose were well balanced and imaginative. I appreciate their use of local ingredients. Their confit duck dish was amazing. It was such a nice treat to venture over there for dinner and worth the trip. Thank you to their chefs and staff for curating a wonderful dining experience.

A sensual trip for the taste buds and visually beautiful in every way. Really enjoyed this excellent culinary visit to Pilgrimme. Highly recommended.

If you’re into unique flavors and ingredients, this is the place for you! I loved the use of local ingredients (including things like seaweed and pine). The fixed menu had a lot of variety and we left full of delicious food. The setting is picturesque being in the forest; it felt very magical. Great service as well.

Excellent presentation and attention to detail. The tasting menu was delightful. Prompt and attentive service by Kate. The fermented chili corn dish brought me back to the bayou and played Creole sweet Jazz on my taste buds. And the duck.... it melted on the tongue, was perfectly balanced and by far our favourite of the night. It's a must do if you spend time on Galiano.

We had tried for three years in a row to come to this restaurant and finally decided to make reservations for our anniversary. The wait was worth it, we were not disappointed by Pilgrimme. The atmosphere is funky yet somehow elegant. The yard is overgrown, the deck is weather beaten and I would have to say that our server, dressed in jeans and t-shirt was knowledgeable if not over enthusiastic. One might criticize the menu as being somewhat limited and that might be fair. The restaurant sources locally and I assume that at times it is hard to be creative with what might be limited resources but staples such as salmon and meat don't seem like that far to stretch. We really enjoyed the yellow pea panisse, the house pickled vegetables and especially the sauces on the duck confit and the humpback prawns. The brined Albacore tuna was disappointing, honestly not much more than what you might get in a premium can of tuna. My biggest surprise was the bull kelp, sliced thin and lightly cooked. It was rich and very flavorful, not fishy, not slimy like I thought it might be. The chocolate truffle for dessert was a perfect small bite for my wife. I ordered one finger of Teeling's Irish for my dessert and I wonder who's tiny finger they used to measure. The BC wine list was limited but we ordered a bottle of Joie Noble White which was so good it got an encore. All in all, very good, expensive but not way over the top and a definite highlight to our anniversary celebration.

Interesting mix of flavours, tasty shared plates, locale ingredients some not seen in city restaurants. however they dropped the ball half way through and left us waiting for almost 30 minutes for our last two plates. Also the duck egg was made into a rich sauce which was disappointing. Otherwise definitely a relaxing ambience and worth trying.

One of the best meals of my life. The chef came out with each course to explain what it was and where they had gotten the various ingredients from. Such a personal experience. Felt like eating at a good friend’s house - who really knows how to cook!

Discovering the restaurant Pilgrimme tucked away on our small island an hour from Vancouver is like finding a treasure in a secret garden. The chef who received some of his training at Noma, and last year won an award as one of Canada's ten best new restaurants, produces an ever changing menu - the most extraordinary combinations of foraged and local ingredients. One comes away feeling one has eaten the beautiful forests of Galiano provided the forest was composed of creamy duck egg, spotted shrimp, roasted leek, local mushrooms, reindeer lichen and chocolate mousse to die for. I would list my favourite dishes but it is always a new experience and I have never been disappointed. Meals are shared dishes so it is a taster's delight - always beginning with one of their wonderful handmade breads such as their potato bread, served with honey or seasoned butter. This is truly our Noma restaurant in Canada, and it won't break the budget. This restaurant has a well deserved popularity so we always make a reservation before returning to the island.

Incredible place-based food experience!

The food was unique, intricate and yet simple. We had the chefs choose our menu for us, and as a picky eater, I was stressed. Every plate of food that was brought to us was better than the next.
