A pretty location. It took over 30 minutes for simple bacon and eggs. What came was so greasy it was inedible. The bacon was crispy/burnt and I don't know what they did to the hash browns but it was a formed patty of grease. I was looking forward to the sourdough rye but it was so smothered in butter it dripped. The eggs were pale and tasteless. It was not worth the u-turns needed to get out of the place.

Service was pretty prompt but the food was a pretty big let down. My ciabatta sandwich came on a French roll. The fries were decent though. Seems more like a drive through place if you don't have many options.

Absolutely disgusting the hollandaise sauce on our egg Benedict was absolutely SOUR.. after a complaint we got an apology no Discount expected us to pay for a meal that was uneadable... We got our own menus had to flag down a waitress to even get a coffee refill during our 45 min wait for the uneadable eggs Benedict... I would recommend finding some where else to eat at all costs... Disgusting and disappointing...

this was a great restaurant. the food here is amazing and the patio is better. they actually have two patios, a lower one and a higher one. from the higher one you get a great view of the river, and the cafe’s across the river. this place really is on a little island.

We had awesome spring rolls, bison burger, and quesadilla. The side of fries was great as well. The strawberry margarita was made with fresh strawberries, and my wife really enjoyed it. The outside patio overlooking the mountain river was wonderful, and the service was very friendly and fairly prompt considering the patio was nearly full.

Various choices of food and the riverside location attracted us, but the real surprise was the excellent service! Our waitress served us our mains, and took our 4-month old shortly out of our hands, showing him the rest of the place and allowing us to enjoy the dishes she brought: a real treat for young parents! We will be back!

Found this eatery whilst visiting Golden. The restaurant was deceptively large having further seating upstairs. The menu was fairly standard for the area and we ordered breakfasts all round with drinks. The tea/coffee arrived quickly and although there was a slight delay coffee was regularly topped up. The food was good when it arrived, although my toast was not as I ordered, 4pieces of white toast arrived instead of the ordered brown toast. However, this was rectified and I received 2 pieces of brown toast in replacement.

Our server sylvester was so amazing! So attentive, great recommendations and the best customer service ive seen. This will definitely be on the top of my list for my favourite restaurants in canada! My burger was so fresh and the fries cooked perfectly! Alices mixing skills were amazing and she made me a really beautiful gin smash and a morning mimosa! They made our restaurant experience unforgettable and i could only ever speak highly of this place! Love it here and definitely plan to return!

The waitress was super friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing! Truly the most delicious homemade burger I've ever had! I asked about alternative bun options, and although they had a gluten free option, I was really looking for something with healthy, slow- burning carbs. Our waitress suggested their sourdough bread, so I went with that. Although a little messy, (not designed for burgers,) it was delicious and nutritious. Blown away by the service, thank you! :)

Ordered the Green Curry Coconut bowl. Came and tasted bland. Told the server who was excellent and helpful in resolving the issue and allowed me to order another dish. The second one was the Buddah Bowl. It took a while to come. But when it did it tasted a bit better... However the portion size was tiny for the price they charged. Overall really bland and boring food that is over priced. Friendly servers though.

If you're looking for a good hearty meal in a casual setting, check out the Island restaurant. I had a lamb burger with bacon and blue cheese - delicious! The meat came from a nearby BC farm and it showed. The staff was friendly, and were able to give recommendations for things to do in the area.

When ever I'm in Golden, I eat here. I thinking I've been around the menu once now. So.. what I like .. atmosphere.. I enjoy the deck... I enjoy the very cold beer.. and the service is pretty good too. Now as for the food it's a little hit and miss and that's why it's only 3 star rating for me. Please note this is my opinion

The place has a nice decor complimented by their originally looking silverware (I think it's actually forged) and no less interestingly looking plates. The menu offers great selection from pastas and meat dishes to burgers. The only problem I find with the place is that they like a lot of restaurants don't serve entrees before 5PM or so.

Beautiful place to eat and breath some mountain air on their patio. Their chicken springs rolls were so scrumptious, you wish to eat more. Their bison burger was juicy and full of flavor and the quesadilla was so cheesy and grilled to perfection.

Very disappointed! Tortilla soup was missing the tortillas, burritos and black beans were baked to the dish. Dessert was a miss, bread pudding was over baked where the crust was hard and chocolate cake was over soaked and lacked flavour. Told the waitress, but we don’t think anything was relayed to the kitchen, hence this review!

We stopped here for lunch during a recent vacation. Although I can't remember exactly what I had that day, I do remember that my wife and I both enjoyed our meals. Also, the service stands out because our waitress was very friendly and and helpful in getting us comfortably seated with our infant son. She even went as far as to bring our forgotten boxed leftovers out to us in the parking lot! Very nice spot, I would go out of my way to go back again.

Stopped for lunch on a rainy November Monday.... mexican specials... had the beef enchiladas with homemade guacamole and tasty rice and beans. All good and fast friendly service. Hubby had bison burger, said it was yummy too. Lots of flavour, but would have preferred a larger patty. Decadent bread pudding for dessert. Enjoyed the meal immensely.

My friends and I were in Golden for New Years from Calgary, and we came in for brunch. I had the Smoked Salmon and Dill Eggs Bennie, and two of my friends had the French Toast, which came with Homemade Rosehip Sauce (if I recall correctly). The food was amazing, and we were impressed by how much of it was made from scratch. The service was exceptional. Our server was a young man named Sylvester, who was extremely affable, and knew the menu very well. All in all, it was one of the best customer service interactions I've had in years. I haven't been for dinner. From looking at the menu, it looks like it's a bit more of a fine-dining kind of place, but the brunch menu was pretty much what you'd expect from a brunch place back in Calgary.

What a nice surprise. Discovered this place while passing through Golden on a small group tour. Quaint, rustic log cabin with very nice menu and comfortable atmosphere. Menu featured bison, elk, pasta varieties and a very appetizing portabello mushroom, quinoa vegan tower. Had a very nice local Golden icefield IPA. I would definitely come back next time I'm passing through.

We only stopped by Golden to have lunch at this restaurant on our way to panorama for a weekend getaway, our table attendant was not friendly even though she wasn’t rude , it’s just made us feel not welcomed. However, We ordered 2 pizzas, one of it is called the “ island special”, assuming it must be the best pizza of the restaurant hence we ordered it. Little did we know “prosciutto “ meat was (though is a high quality meat ) in the pizza actually come from hazelnut fed pig therefore my 2 teenage daughters started to have anaphylactic reactions immediately after eating the pizza, their throat starting to close!!!! Luckily we have chewable Benadryl along with us and had helped with the incident, they both vomited an hour later. I’m gonna give the restaurant manager a call to inform her that this can be very dangerous to people that have nuts allergy. She probably not aware of it. No tourist would want to end up in the hospital instead of going for their vacation because of pizza

Food quality does not match price. All the dishes my family and I had were bland. With that in mind, if you are charging $20 upwards for meals, staff should not be wearing leggings. The building itself was beautiful and this place has potential. However, at this point in time, I would not consider eating there again.

What a great place to hang out on a beautiful day! Sit out on the patio and listen to the kicking horse flow by and if you stop in on a Monday you can order from their Mexican Madness menu! The enchiladas were great and I also heard rave reviews for their roasted veggie burrito!

This restaurant does not deserve 4.2 stars. The service was mediocre, the food blech, we ordered vege pizza and I've had better Dr Oekter frozen pizza. Our meals came, and my 4yr old granddaughter sat there waiting for her grilled cheese because the waitress forgot to order it. Way overpriced for the quality

Nice place, friendly staff, and friendly service. I thought it was weird we had three different servers attend to our table of two though. The food took forever to come out tho and when it did it was lacking for the price we paid. My girlfriend liked the falafel wrap but the fries were stale and/or over cooked. My duck salad was smaller than what I was expecting (my fault did not asking I big it was). When the salad came out, it was swimming in the dressing...almost a salad soup! The greens weren’t the freshest and most were wilted. The best part of the salad was the confit duck leg. .

We wanted to go to a different place that was closed. A local suggested we go to the Island .... Not impressed. Bartender/server guy was overly peppy... Don't get me wrong, we love friendly people but this felt inauthentic and excessive. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza and the roasted veggie burrito and they weren't horrible in taste, but all the dishes were overcooked. Service, overall was slow and impersonal. Probably wouldn't return.

I almost never leave a bad review but this is without a doubt one of the worst places I have ever been to. I ordered a club sandwich and the turkey clearly had been reheated and refrigerated over and over again. Even the bacon was stale and tasted expired. All 3 dishes we ordered were a distater. Even though the service was decent....yoh would think the server would notice 3 dishes all being full when she picked them up. We spent 100 bucks at this place for 1 or 2 bites each. I understand places are coming out of Covid protocols and are struggling.....buy you wont survive long with the garage you are trying to feed people

The food was great, but what really set this restaurant apart from others is the service from Sylvester. He absolutely loves what he does, and his energy is refreshing. He offered genuine excitement about items on the menu, and also gave us insight into his favourite places to see around the area. 5 stars for Sylvester!

Pleasantly surprised! Had a really good smoked duck salad and my fiance had a sandwich of some sort (forgot which one). Good atmosphere, it was very dead on a Thursday night but we liked the food. Unfortunately it was dark so we didn't really see the view outside but I'd love to come back in the summer

The atmosphere is lovely and the food is beautifully plated, unfortunately the actual taste of the meal is mediocre. The flavors are bland and my roasted vegetables were mostly undercooked (not surprising when the carrots are cut to such large pieces and cooked with small slices of pepper). I ordered the cashew chicken. Took one bite and it tasted absolutely disgusting like the chicken had been reheated. Sent it back. Ordered a burger which then took 30 minutes to arrive after everybody else so I ate alone, despite being told "it was being put through quickly". My mother and sister ordered fish which was totally tasteless and bland. My father ordered pasta which was dry and bland. He asked for Parmesan cheese which took 10 minutes to arrive. The entire meal was one big disappointment from start to finish. Absolutely disgusted with our experience here. My mother's 75th birthday was a disaster thanks to the experience please.

What a gem! The beer selection was impressive, having served me my first maple brew which changed my life, let me make that clear. The food was delectable and the crab apple pie for dessert was exactly what the doctor ordered. The servers had a great sense of humour, which only added to the wonderful experience. The prices were reasonable too. All round winner!

This is a great place to purchase overpriced and disappointing food. I ordered the Vegetable Tower. For $25 you get a puck of deep fried hash browns, a dry portobello mushroom, a couple slices of grilled eggplant, a bland sauce, and quaint smattering of quinoa “risotto”. The risotto tasted like they just boiled it with no flavouring or sauce. It was maybe 3” wide and 3-4” tall. Hardly a tower. In comparison, someone else at the table ordered the daily special. For the same price they got grilled veggies (which were about the same portion as my entire meal), 3 lamb chops, and half a baked potato.

Summer Monday, holiday in August... this restaurant offers marvelous service with great food offerings ranging from novelty salads (loved the duck one) to a bison burger (my kid spun legends from). There's also curry bowls to burritos with prawns and fresh vegetables as well as pasta and meat dishes whichever way you like it. Love you BCers. See you Golden, BC again in the winter. You are immaculate hosts.

Best meal and service I’ve had thus far on our road trip from Toronto to Vancouver. You must stop here for the most delicious homemade everything!!! The homemade jerk mayo and hot sauce was a bonus and we had to get some to take home. Alice, our waitress was a gem and made our experience that much better.

I asked if I could buy (buy, not have) a beer glass from a local brewery (as sadly I collect these on my travels around the globe) and was told the owner does not allow this. a) how very petty b) I offered to pay a small fee c) would the owner have even known, servers could use a little initiative! Shame as this joint could easily be 4/5 stars otherwise. I should also mention we were customers two nights in a row spending some 120 CAD so even more upsetting and a great shame.

I have been here many times during this past year and I haven't had a steak sandwich as good anywhere else in town. The service is always excellent here. Also, try the PAKORAS! I also highly recommend the catering at this location. Have been to many parties upstairs here and the staff are always fantastic and the meals always phenomenal.

They offered non-alcoholic alternatives for the driver and a festive menu. My honey and I came here last week, and we were very disappointed. I ordered the black pepper chicken fettuccine, and it was horrible. Waitress didn't even ask if everything was okay, seeing how I hardly ate it. For appetizer we ordered the caesar salad to share, and we were served huge pieces of lettuce, croutons, and no dressing. We had waiting 40min for our food. Not impressed, would not recommend.

Previously I really liked eating here until my last visit. Whenever I was in Golden or was passing through, I made an effort to stop and a meal. Unfortunately, a few days ago, I was very disappointed. I ordered some fish tacos. The batter was so hard that you could not even cut through and when broke apart the fish was like dried fish. The servers were very kind and professional and handled the situation well. After all, it is not their fault what goes on in the kitchen. Perhaps, the last visit was my last visit. Even one star is too much but there is no other option.

A nice restaurant on a little island. They have friendly staff, and gluten-free and vegan options. It's a little pricier but this is reflected in the quality of food and ambiance. I also felt the food was fancy, yet a appropriate amount of food (not just a dollop, and not a mountain).

Quite a delicious stop. Parking is ample! In the winter be careful on the approach to the front door the concrete is quite slippery underfoot. Quite accessible. The menu is simple and full of delicious eats, the staff are friendly and attentive. Great stop for breakfast (cannot comment on the lunch or dinner items as they were not had during the stay) I recommend the French Toast with Hibiscus Gravy it was quite tastey. The place seemed to be well maintained by the staff (washrooms were fully stocked and clean) Family friendly as well, had options for the littles and staff were kind to the families that were there when I was.

I normally do not post a negative review without speaking to management but felt in this case it was warranted considered the after affects. Ordered an Island Burger for lunch today. For $19.00 I received a very ordinary burger that was over seasoned and fries that were an off the shelf product and tasteless. Not worth the price. The kicker is that 5 hours later I am left with the taste of deep-frying oil and craving for fluids. They may have some menu items that are good but the Island Burger I was served today was not one of them.

Lots of variety in the dinner menu and a roomy, warm dining area. The first time I went (breakfast) the service was great! The second time, we arrived about 20 minutes before the kitchen was closing (which we didn't realize) and did not receive the same warm welcome, unfortunately. We felt like a bother throughout dinner, though we tried to order and eat quickly. I know it can be a pain to serve people when you've already started cleaning up (I've been a waitress) but if the kitchen is still open and you're still seating people, they deserve warmth and hospitality, too.

Enjoyed my meal at this homey little spot in Golden. We started with the chicken spring rolls and they were pretty good. I had the special which was a seafood linguini with a tomato cream sauce, it was loaded with ahi tuna, shrimp and muscles and served with garlic toast. My wife enjoyed her steak sandwich with a salad as well. Creme Brule for dessert was delicious. Worth a stop after skiing and I'm sure the patio is awesome in the summer by the river, will have to come back to check it out.

Had the bison burger, it was good but honestly it was pretty overpriced at $21. Run of the mill frozen bison patty on a white bun with Mayo lettuce and two tiny tomatoes. Service was great. I'd be back in a second if the burgers were $15 or so, which is all they're worth being generous.

We had our Vegetable fettuccine from here. It was good in the patio with the view. The only thing they should take care of is clean the furniture after use. Table and chairs we sat on were not cleaned. Some food dirt was there. We asked them to clean it out. They cleaned carelessly. Cleaned the table. Forgot to clean the chair. They have an amazing patio! Very convenient right off the bridge and also right beside the beautiful flowing river! Good music pumping on the patio as well. Service is amazing. I asked to have my meal without and had to get my plate remade because they put it on as garnish even though I asked for it without. Was seated in a corner table on the roof! Sat for 10 min as the waitress brought the food to the table behind us then left. Didn’t even come and ask for our drink order. Then came back again to that table and asked them how there food was and didn’t even come to our table once again for our drink order. I do not recommend this place w to anyone. The worst service we have had on our 12 day bike trip. Stay on the main drag on the number one highway you will get better service

The Island has an unique location in Golden which is fun. The restaurant is spacious and clean inside. Despite being one of the few customers, service was a bit absent yet they were nice and friendly. The food was good but average, in my opinion. The spicy tortilla soup on Mondays and Tuesdays was quite spicy which i liked. Too bad it was full of mushrooms ????. I wasn't disappointed but also not excited about my experience.

Had a really great experience here! The decor and building are just so nice and mountain rustic! The have good local craft beer, good local wine from the Okanogan! Most of the food is made in house by a great chef, they took great care with my wife's food allergy. The service was very friendly. Really a nice place!

A unique place right next to the river - the entrance into the parking lot comes up on you quickly, it's immediately after the bridge. Stopped here for lunch on the way through Golden as it had received good ratings and we were not disappointed! The waitress was friendly and the food was delicious, really fresh and vibrant flavours that all worked well together. There was a Mexican special on while we were there, and my dad met his match with the spiciness of the soup they had as their daily special!

I wanted to give one star but I give two stars because the taste is ok. I ordered a Lamb Linguine, the noodle was so soggy and the entire dish was just a bit over room temperature. When I let the waitress know, she told me the pasta is supposed to be soft. Usually, if things are not too bad, I would bite my tongue and finish the dish instead of wasting food. I really can't for this soggy Linguine. So I order a chicken sandwich instead, the lady ask me if I want soup or fries. I said soup. But the fries came with my sandwich instead. I am tired of pointing this out as it will be the same waitress that I have to deal with.

Lovely setting, but extremely slow service, and it wasn't that busy; ate here for a late lunch. Pizza was adequate, but the curry special was dripping in oil. Waitress was sweet, but not doing a good job. Food was overpriced. Would not recommend, but based on other reviews, maybe we just caught it on an off day.
