This Restaurant is classified in the category of Pacific Northwest restaurant (Canada).
Had dinner here on our visit to Vancouver and we were blown away. The drinks were so beautiful and so so so delicious oh my goodness. I can’t express how much we loved the drinks. The appetizers we ordered were the wagyu beef carpaccio, the charred octopus and the burrata salad. The burrata salad was good but it was nothing special. The beef carpaccio was definitely up my alley, very good. The charred octopus was chefs kiss amazing. For our main course we ordered the duck and the salmon. Both were done with perfection. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
My husband and I stayed at the Pacific Rim on our trip, so we had the pleasure of dining at Botanist for dinner and breakfast on separate days. Both experiences were fantastic - service was phenomenal, food was delicious and beautifully presented, the ambiance was peaceful, and the restaurant was stunning. It was a lovely experience overall.
I like the whole plant vibe. The names of the cocktails are quite unique and the service was attentive. We had the tasting menu and the food was presentation was delicate and well executed. My favourite dish was the torched salmon! The texture was rich and smooth because they only charred the surface.
Beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and 10/10 food! Botanist is my favorite brunch spot in town.
Super blending of flavors. They were extremely accommodating of our diverse dietary needs and preferences. Lovely friendly staff. Cleverly named cocktails that are actually excellent.
Service
Visited Botantist a few times for brunch and have always had such a delightful meal. The staff made the reservation booking such a breeze for our large party. Located inside the beautiful Fairmont Hotel, every corner of this restaurant is photo-inspiring. I can't say enough about our benevolent server, who ensured that we were well taken care of throughout each course. The brunch menu offers lots of options for those that are a sweet tooth, vegetarian, or prefer savoury dishes. The beef tartare is a must!
Attended a private event at this restaurant. This is the replacement of Oru from few years ago. I was impressed by the menu. I was also amazed by the creative use of ingredients and the artistic presentation. The food was simply exquisite. Liked the cocktail selection, including the non alcoholic version.
Wow. This place was brutal. The manager said he’d look into it. Server was kind but overworked. Place was mismanaged. It was a mess. Between sitting down & ordering drinks it was 45 mins. Update: After I left I asked to speak with the manager. We talked, he gave me a blank stare & said sorry but offered no solution. I already paid & tipped the server. It wasn’t about money. Then he went up to my table to speak to my friends who felt veeeery uncomfortable.
We did the Prix Fixe menu. Wine pairing perfect although pours were small. Presentation excellent. Cheezy risotto was intense (ricotta?) plus salty was difficult to eat without gulping water, but melted in with the scallop. portion sizing good. Silverware needs an overhaul, not functional - spoon too large for coffee cup, and serrated knife cannot cut pork loin. Noise level was high due to large number of ladies night revelers. hard to hear descriptions of wines and food. Parking was 47$ on app, but only 30 for Valet. Total over 400.
Impressed A delicious, thoughtful, meal. We have been wanting to come here for a while but put it off. So glad we finally did. Came here for a Birthday dinner. The ambience was light, airy and beautiful. We got great service from Chris who knew a great deal about all the food on the menu and on the tasting menu and was attentive throughout the evening. My husband and I had the tasting menu and the wine pairings. Loved every dish. The salmon was like butter. The tomato dessert, amazing. The food is mainly locally sourced and the wines are mainly organic. Lovely, presentation, very innovative and delicious meal. After getting back from a trip and eating at a lot of great restaurants in Europe, Botanist still managed to shine and give my taste buds a treat. I was very impressed. One of my new favourite restaurants ❤☺????
Food was impeccable through lunch and breakfast services. The hostess is cute too, and very polite wait staff. Highly rec. Don't screw around and come into breakfast casually from your hotel, always have your hair prepped, you don't know who you will run into.
Such wonderful flavors! Absolute must to try
Certainly a terrific experience. I’ve known the lead bartender my whole life. He recently won some well-deserved accolades and he truly is the best bartender in Canada and even perhaps the world. A strong statement for sure, however, his cocktails are creative, unique, balanced, and ridiculously flavourful. The service was outstanding and the food was unbelievably great. If you want an “out-of-this-world” experience, come have some drinks and food at Botanist. Highly, highly recommended! It was the best Burrata and Duck I’ve ever had.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever had! I recommend this place to others, and they have had consistent experiences. This place will not disappoint.

Bread is a bit cold, I expected it to be warmly toasted. But this homemade one was still appetizing. All good and delicate presentation of food. Appetizer: tomato salad. Different kinds of tomato, all pretty good quality and sweet. They've put effort in making this dish interesting. The halibut here was a top one but still not my type. Love the soup in halibut. But I'll never try halibut at any place ever again. Hummmmm the dessert beetroot cake was fine, but I don't like chiffon cake personally. Overall, I'm bad at selecting food. I'll try brunch or lunch next time.
Go here for Jeff, he is the most passionate bartender in the world. The drinks he makes are heavenly, food is amazing
Best brunch I have ever had. Great ambiance, quieter than most with live music and amazing food and service.
Brunch at Botanist was 10/10! The food was amazing, the staff was very friendly and the restaurant was gorgeous. We had such a great experience and will be back again
Wow. Fantastic. Best octopus dish I've had.
My go-to place for special occasions. Botanist is everything you would hope for from the five star hotel contemporary restaurant: high quality food, inventive cocktails, attentive service & visually appealing surrounds. Both brunch & dinner are great options...if you're not sure about spending so much money on a meal but want the full treatment, their holiday set menus are a great experience!
Stopped by for a quick late night drink with a friend and was quickly accommodated at the bar. I really loved the space and the fun cocktails they had. A very classy spot - perfect for a night out!
Excellent Food. Fantastic service. Exactly what you would expect from a high quality restaurant. From the front of house to the kitchen many thanks. Special mention to server Chris.
Dinner
We had the tasting menu at the Botanist.. and we are genuinely SPEECHLESS! The food taste, quality and presentation was beyond all of our expectations! The executive chef is simply incredible and the team at the Botanist is professional and so, so, so friendly and attentive! Highly reccommend!!
This restaurant came highly recommended by several friends, and it did not disappoint! I came here for their Thanksgiving brunch, which included a glass of sparkling wine, an appetizer, an entree, a dessert, and a cocktail, and each item was executed to perfection. The servers were also attentive and friendly, and the interior was gorgeous (perfect for those Instagram photos). Overall, Botanist is an excellent choice for fine dining or when you're looking to impress.
Went to Botanist for Xmas dinner, had such a wonderful time. Super grateful to Izzy as I call him, the General Manager welcomed us, escorted us to our tables and made sure we had a fabulous time. At the end of the dinner he was able to get us a table at the Lobby Lounge were we had amazing cocktails and enjoyed the live music. Thanks Izzy and both botanist and the lobby lounge team for an unforgettable evening. Happy Holidays
We had a party of 12 and they separated us on opposite sides of the restaurant. We kindly asked if they can put us a little closer together as the table next to us was not reserved for anyone, also it was more than 6ft. a part. They declined our request which made no sense in our opinion. After that whole situation our server was so awkward. Good food nonetheless, just don't think we'll return for a while.
If I have a chance to give them more stars, I will just pick everything from the sky and give it to them… Every single dish here is just perfect. The service, the food, the people, the environment, OMG. It’s like a ‘dream place’ for me. I prefer to call there ‘my love place’ rather than ‘my favourite restaurant’ ♥️

Service
Amazing friendly and excellent service. The staff are knowledgeable and well managed. Italian restaurant. Aya, Larry and the rest of staff are professional in every way.
Food here is great, well done, portions are small but the food is rich, and the cocktails here, are amazing! We spent most of our money on the cocktails!!!
Super disappointing experience due to management and kitchen rules. My wife and I sat at the bar, the bartender told us the lamb will take 20 mins, and suggested we order appetizers if we’re hungry, which we did. It then took over an hour for us to receive the lamb because when I went to the bathroom, they went to bring it out, and their rule is if everyone is not seated they don’t bring it out. The lamb then got too cold to their standards and they had to re fire it without my consent, thus remake my wife’s halibut dish. I absolutely did not care if it was at my seat for 1-5 minutes due to my absence. I’d rather eat it, than wait over an hour for my main dish to come. The bartender provided good service. Cocktails were good. The food was good, but small portions. Just very disappointed that I did not get to eat dinner until almost 9 pm when we arrived at around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday night when it wasn’t busy due to a absent minded rule. It should have been my decision whether or not to remake the entire dish. Not worth the almost $200 spent when you’re paying for 5 star experience.
I went to Botanist to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I would say it is simply one of the best fine dining restaurants in town. The decor, reception, services, atmosphere, and the food are all excellent. We tried their tasting menu. The dishes came over just exceeded our expectations. Thanks to our server Brandon who did a great job giving us a wonderful dining experience.
The vibe in this place is absolutely spectacular. Lots of light and tons plants lend themselves to an extremely earthy and warm feel. The food and cocktails were also top notch with great presentation and fresh flavors I've never tasted anywhere else. Highly recommended if you're ever staying in Vancouver.
Such an incredible space! Thoughtfully designed space with beautiful lighting. The service was on point. Chris our server was so lovely. He had great timing and had great suggestions. We tried the 'We’ll Take It From Here' Chefs tasting menu. The flavours were absolutely perfect and the Uni risotto was my absolute favorite. Everything about this dining experience was delightful. Would highly recommend this for a special occasion or if you want a special treat!
Absolutely exotic food presentation. Beautiful decor yet very comfortable. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Vancouver; easily top three. The food is plated exactly like their pictures. Very appetizing and delicious. The kitchen is open and you can see what the chef is doing. We had sablefish, and it was such a delightful meal. Appetizer was out of this world. We were hoping for their famous breads but it seemed they had apparently discontinued that. COVID-19?
Every dish is a beautiful piece of art. Each dish is carefully crafted with perfect taste. The fish was very tasty and different from other fine dining restaurants. The atmosphere was very upbeat, perfect for a Saturday night. Dinner was not cheap but the price is for presentación, quality, atmosphere, taste. Was a good experience and service was excellent.

I love this place
Botanist!!! You are my new favorite restaurant. Did not get any photos of the restaurant itself but extremely beautiful aesthetics and wonderful ambiance. We got the chefs tasting menu “we’ll take it from here” and everything was delicious. It was a six course meal and nothing disappointed. My favorite was the gnocchi and the duck, but every course was well plated and tasted great.
Great restaurant, great ambiance, great food, very classy and an absolute best place for a date. Only issue is their table and reservation system. In our reservation we always ask for table by the window or a booth but they never honour that. We always get a table dead centre in the restaurant. I find that quite strange.
Took my mom for lunch in August 2019. The staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was lovely and calm. The mains were great, particularly the fish. The desserts were beautiful tho neither really suited lunch. Would have been better after dinner with cocktails.
Normally I am happy with the restaurants but this time I was not satisfied. Wine list is not updated. The waitress had to go and check twice if they have wine that I asked. I m sure they don't know what they have. Wine list has got 10 pages. What is it for? The dining menu 1 page. I was brought different food. Then there was a problem with the bill. They had to re do it twice or 3 times. Noisy, if you want to relax this is not the right place especially if you seat near kitchen.
We were fortunate enough to get a table at Botanist this weekend and it ended up being a fantastic experience all around! Service was wonderful. The meals were attractive, well composed and of course delicious. To my surprise the appetizer tagliatelle (split in the photo which was a nice surprise when it arrived for easier sharing), the sourdough bread and the chocolate fondant dessert stole the show for me. I tend to like meat centric appetizers the most when dining out so I was pleasantly surprised by which dishes ended up being my favorite. We tried most of the cocktails on their list and each one was unique and flavorful. The stamped logo in the ice was just one of the many fine details we noticed throughout our experience. My only disappointment was that we got full too fast and I could not try more dishes. Next time! Thanks again Botanist staff!
Pretty good experience. I expect a lot from a fine dining restaurant like the Botanist. It’s an absolutely beautiful restaurant full of live plants. My favourite dishes were the bread, and mushroom pasta. I didn’t love the accompaniments for the main dishes (sable fish and rib eye) but the proteins themselves were great. My biggest complaint was the service. It was okay, but definitely not memorable. We sat for long periods of time with dirty dishes in front of us and drinks took a long time to get. It’s on the high end for Vancouver restaurants, so prepare to spend well over $250+ for multiple dishes and drinks.
This restaurant was awesome. The food and service were on point. The atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a fantastic culinary experience. They even went the extra mile and provided a birthday surprise!
100% A Five stars food and service! If I can give one more star I will. It was a sensational, excellent and fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was interesting, it gives you new combinations to your palate. It was totally worth it to pay for the price.
The space was beautiful and server is fantastic. But the food was disappointing for us unfortunately. The duck and scallops were so incredibly salty it overpowered everything. Maybe that’s how it was intended but for me I personally didn’t enjoy it at all. The lamb however was amazingly done.
This is definitely my favourite restaurant currently I highly recommend the Duck (the plate in the back), it was amazing! The sitting arrangement is quite nice. If you are lucky enough you get to sit in the front where it looks way better for pictures since it is much brighter. When I came here for their Valentines Menu, we were sitting towards the back, and it was hard to take pictures of the food as the lights were quite dim. Ps. I liked their regular menu better than their Valentines Tasting menu.
Solid five stars Perfect service and amazing food
We lucked out and went for both dinner and brunch. I absolutely loved this restaurant. It is a beautiful place where staff really pay attention to details and you feel very taken care of from the start to the finish of your meal. The cocktails are lovely and it was nice to get dressed up and have a decadent meal. I would recommend the scallops and breakfast risotto as well as any of their cocktails. Was super pleased with their gluten free options as well. Thank you!
A great brunch for Christmas! Great service and very delicious food. The lamb was a bit rare to my liking but overall amazing! I have to try the regular dinning menu for sure.
The Botanist provides a unique atmosphere with beautiful decor. One of the most visually appealing dining experiences. This extends to their meals. Each dish was a piece of art. A bit pricey, but worth trying.
This restaurant is one of the best experiences I have had in Vancouver. Not only the food was sublime, the service and ambiance were incredible. We had an amazing time and felt cozy the whole time. It’s like eating your mom’s food in the most cosiest/luxurious restaurant Imin Vancouver. I highly, highly recommend!!
My husband and I picked the Botanist to be our first dinner out as a married couple, and we were blown away! The atmosphere is very romantic, even seated at the bar like we were. The service was perfect, and the combination of flavors was genius! Truly complements to the kitchen, and the specialty drinks were a treat! I was completely satisfied, but I will mention that my husband could have eaten more (and did at a Macdonalds down the street). Overall, 100% recommended and we will be going again
I've come here a couple times now for dinner and their duck entree is the best duck I've ever had! Recently I went for their tasting menu and I highly recommend it! Everything from service to ambiance to the food dishes and how they were presented, how they tasted and how they were paced was phenomenal.
Amazing Food! Exceptional Service
Came here for special occasion with my one and only and their brother to have a nice night out. The food was excellent the drinks great service was top notch and the inside was beautiful. A bit pricy but a great experience all around. Definitely a place to try!
Quick Summary Great ambiance and decor. Great food and love their sustainability project. Highly recommend a reservation. Food- 5 stars We got the prix-fixe menu that came with a cocktail and a 3 course meal. It did feel a bit strange to have 3 courses because it gave off a tasting menu vibe, but was still very enjoyable. The first 2 courses were fantastic. The first dish was a white fish that was cooked perfectly and I very much enjoyed the creamy sauce with truffle topped off. The second dish was the duck breast and it was cooked perfectly. Every bite was incredibly juicy. The only slight disappointment was the dessert to end the night. There was hardly any crumble and it was mostly airy mousse that we were eating, which was my only critique. The brilliance of the first 2 dishes outweighed the dessert Service- 5 stars Fast and attentive Bottom Line Botanist was a terrific experience from beginning to end. The Fairmont that its located in also is a fun experience as there was live music and a lively bar environment in their lobby bar.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The cocktails were extremely delicious; would come again just for them! Food wise, I personally liked the duck more than the lamb.
Tasting menu is amazing, great experience
This place is fantastic. It was my first time dining here and it won't be my last! I love the simple ambiance with lots of natural green leaved plants. The food was excellent. I tried the beet salad and the halibut main. The main was surprisingly filling.
The service in this place was top notch. We stopped by here for only 30 minutes, the staff was extremely welcoming and helped us order items that would come out quickly. Our server checked on us often, and was very thoughtful by bringing us the cheque ahead of time so we could pay as soon as we were ready so we could make it to our appointment. Best of all the interior design was incredible! Such a great place to come with your group of friends for some good food and aesthetic pictures.
- Great ambience - Great food - Worth the try for the price - Its a good place to go for a fine dining - Went here couple of times for the set menus and non set menus and they are awesome - However, not a 5 star taste for me well I guess there is a reason why vancouver does not have a 5 michelin star. I personally think this is not a michelin class level and so not a 5 star - For those who want try for fine dining or to celebrate an event, this is a good place to go - Huge or wide variations of alcoholic drinks
Super cute decor, and really nice service. Been here for dinner and brunch and both were superb! The cocktails here are super interesting and unique!
This was the first reservation we made during our trip to Vancouver and absolutely loved it! Food was incredibly fresh, service was great, overall, great night.
Food here is great, the Chef spend time making sure the food has multiple layers of taste and there are many different kind of elements to make up a dish. Food her looks simple but it is never boring, and the chef really spend on arranging the plates so it looks appetizing and delicious. The plates all came out with the right temperature so it is perfect to eat, not too hot and not too cold. Service here is very good, the waiters and waitresses are well trained. Price is pretty decent in a high end hotel. I enjoyed my time dining here in this restaurant, and I would definitely come back again.
I think our server was name, Alex? He was such an excellent host to my sister and I for her birthday. Upon arrival, the hostess had a birthday card signed from all the staff, and everyone who interacted with our table made sure to wish her a happy birthday. The hostess over heard me saying how cute the area with the plants was and HAPPILY offered to move our reservation. Our server was completely adaptable to the type of service to give, using excellent social intelligence. When he noticed my sister was trying to get the perfect picture of her beverage, he made suggestions on how we could position it better, or move it around to another table to get the best photo. Without asking, he gave us a set of matches after she blew out the candle (on a complimentary dessert) because he over heard her saying she didn’t like the video I took of her blowing out the candles. It’s so easy to judge young women for wanting to document meals, and taking photos, but he was so pleasant and encouraging, it really made for an iconic experience. The bartender personally brought over his own creation and was very sweet to us as well. This was all on top of the delicious eggs Benedict we were served and the potatoes cooked and seasoned to perfection. Such positive attitudes are hard to come by in service industries these days, they really seem to love their job. We can’t wait to come back to try everything we were too full for!
$68/person for a three course brunch :) also came with a mimosa and choice of cocktail
A wonderful and flavourly evening, I might say flowery ! On October 21st dinner, we had such a great experience having the “We’ll Take It From Here” menu with the wine pairings. We enjoyed firstly a signature cocktail. A special wow and mention to the “one inch punch”. The 5 courses meal was absolutely fabulous and it’s what we could describe as a true and pure gastronomy. It was inventive, creative, full of flavors, visually impeccable. All our senses have been delighted. The service was also very pleasant, personalized, attentive, and that without being haughty. Definitely up to the meal we were served. A perfect note : and we will remember a long time this magical and tasty experience !
Excellent food! Server was a little forgetful so we had to ask for water and other stuff two or three times before we got it.
Lovely staff and beautiful plants. Came here newly engaged and they brought us some beautiful champagne on the house (thank you!). We had the duck and the ribeye, absolutely delicious. Fancy cocktails were a nice touch as well. Would definitely recommend for a fancy night out
Like this place, mood, and food. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Vancouver
Meal type
Had the most incredible meal and experience for my 30th birthday. Been dying to visit Botanist, and so glad that we finally did. Let them “take it from here”, well worth the experience. And we left feeling beautifully full. (Pictured is all courses minus the gnocchi which we devoured...)
Appies:5/5 Mains: 3/5 Dessert: 4/5 Appies we ordered the wagyu beef carpaccio, burrata salad and grilled octopus - all three dishes were delicious Mains we had the lamb and duck The lamb was quite small and I would only suggest it for those that love lamb because it was quite game soaked into the lamb broth as well (there's no escaping) For the duck, it was pretty good other than it being a tad over cooked and it had a tendon on the bottom which made it a bit tough For dessert we had the exotic fruit which was a passion fruit mouse with mangoes and pineapples on top of calamnsi Sorbet. The Sorbet was super icey and not a Sorbet texture at all. When our waiter asked about the dessert I shared this with him and the reply I got was that it's homade and meant to be like that. Please, we both know the texture shouldn't be like that, how about you just don't ask next time if you don't care
Great service! All staff were friendly and nice. Their food was great too!
Botanist is an amazing experience every time!
Flash way back to my first dinner @botanistdining ! This was to celebrate a friend's marriage. We absolutely loved the housemade fougasse with whipped butter. I chose two appetizers rather than a main: the Pan Seared Scallops and Hand Cut Tagliatelle. Both were excellent in terms of flavour and presentation, with the latter enhanced by wild mushrooms. I love the vibe here from the classy, modern decor to all of the greenery from the plants. If you go at the right time, there's live music too! (I hope we can all dine in again soon.) Follow me on Instagram @vinaeatsandtreats for more honest restaurant and baking recipe reviews!
We went to Botanist for the Valentine's day. Great service and decoration. Cocktails are tasty. Definitely recommend.
Went there for our one year anniversary. Food was bland and a waste of money. My wife made a very specific request that she is allergic to walnuts. The waiter assured everything would be walnut free. As we left the restaurant, my wife’s throat closed up and she couldn’t breathe, so had to rush her to the nearby shoppers to get Benadryl. She had an allergic reaction to something at the restaurant which had been in contact with walnuts. You’d think they’d take more care….but whatever they don’t care. Thanks ruining our one year anniversary. ????????
I can't tell you enough of how incredible the VIP 6 course dinner and Cocktail experience is. You have to do it. Never have I had such decedent flavors in my mouth. Such innovative creations and collaboration with the bartender. I'll definitely be back next year.
We had a valentine tasting menu at 148$ per person. Food was okay. Taste is subjective and we both liked 3 out of 6 dishes. Didn’t love that it was creamy dish after creamy dish (not a big fan of cream). Wish that instead of having each dishes a tiny portion, the main could have been a bit bigger while the other dishes can be smaller. Didn’t love my cocktail that much. The ambience was okay. Didn’t feel supper romantic. Seat position was quite odd. Felt more like a brunch spot than candle lit dinner style. Our seat also has some stain on it which was odd. We understand as the fabric must be difficult to get stain out. Still, not a good impression. Our waiter was nice. But we also had other waiter coming to serve us. One forgot to give us spoons and another misunderstood our drink order which led to an awkward moment. Another weird thing is eventhou we didn’t use some utensils, they clear it out ever dish and replace them. But forgot spoons one time. In conclusion, I personally liked the dessert the most. The chef was able to make the tasting menu gluten free which is a plus. And it was a different experience than what we are used to. We don’t think we’ll come back and we’ll probably won’t recommend to our friends. Thank you for the food.
Amazing meal! The staff was super friendly, and everything i ate was absolutely delicious!
Meal type
I couldn't stop exclaiming how beautiful this place is. The interior design is overwhelmingly stunning. The colour palette is perfection. I gush while thinking about it. This aesthetic is matched with the food's presentation. The drinks are elegant and innovative. I feel so calm and comfortable just sitting in there. I tried their breakfast but would love to return for dinner.
