Decent place. Wouldn't eat in there but I do tend to pick food up. Prices can be a bit better for the portion sizes. Paying 11$ or so for a Chicken Pad Thai only to find out that there's barely any chicken in there, and its not even served to the top of the container. Happened multiple times. Also not very filling, as something going for 11$ should keep you content for 1-2 hours after eating it but thats not the case cause its very light food. Price & portion mainly. It is good food as though so 10/10 for that. I just think the portion size should be adjusted a bit for such a price tag. I love pad thai and I feel like Viet Thai kind of lets me down in terms of it b/c of the low amount of actual protein/meat and the overall serving size. Very nice staff though. 3/5

This is a great family run restaurant with authentic flavours. I typically order their beef pho or the vermicelli dishes. I have never been disappointed with the order. The owners make you feel like you are part of the family. It is a great place to bring your family to or have lunch with a colleague to catch up. The only reason it gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because the decor is on the dated side.

The pho broth isn’t as flavorful as I’ve had in many other restaurants. They added sesame oil to the top almost like a garnish and it overpowered and made it greasy. They do not provide jasmine tea at the table which I found strange as well. If you want to order tea it is $4.50 . The server was nice and friendly.

This is the best Thai place in town. It is family owned and run, very friendly, they remember you by name, fast and fresh and reasonably priced food with unending Jasmine tea if you eat in. I usually get the pho, sweet and sour soup, or pad Thai, fresh rolls and pork crispy rolls, all are excellent.

In Brantford to train at the fantastic hospital here. On-call and needed some dinner, so I headed over. Got red curry with chicken. Good flavours. I got at medium spicy which wasn't spicy enough, but definitely very flavorful. Good coconut flavor, not over-powering. Two best parts about the curry. Crisp vegetables and so much variety

If you want filling and hearty pho then come here. The prices are very reasonable, the family that works here is very friendly, the portions are generous. We love that the pho is so soothing and full of flavours, it definitely makes you feel so much better if you are recovering from a cold or bad day. Lots of popular Thai and Vietnamese food options. Simple food is awesome especially when it tastes delicious and is filling without hurting your wallet. The decor might be a bit simple and dated but that's ok, you are there for the food!

I love Vietnamese and Thai dishes. I’ve known about this place for quite some time but got the chance to go a couple of times only recently. (Note: they are closed on Mondays.) The first meal I had was shrimp Pad Thai. It was a big portion, filling and well-seasoned. Lunch on another day was a large House Specialty Pho, with beef balls, tendon and flank. It was, again, a generous serving. Pho is not pho without the sprouts and basil leaves and, of course, a touch of hot sauce. Lime juice gives it also a refreshing taste.

The food is delicious. My husband n I were just passing through, saw the restaurant n decided to try it out. We were very impressed. The staff were very friendly n it seems they are on good terms with all the patrons there n even those who came in for take out. Seems to know everyone by name. The chef even went out of her way to bring us an extra dish for us to try! The food is very good, much better than most of the Vietnamese food we tried at other locations. Will definitely come back.

Pad thai was salty and fishy. The slice of beef in the pad thai was undercooked. Pho was too salty. In the backroom, the grandma was singing in Chinese in a loud voice. Very noisy. I would not recommend this place.

Great food, and definitely get your money's worth. However we were just in there eating our "Sizzling Plates" and at first it didn't seem too warm in the restaurant, but as it got a little warmer we moved one of the 2 floor fans to point in our direction by the window. Then a family of 3 comes in and we hear a conversation between them and the restaurant staff about how "people keep coming in and sitting by the hot window and ordering hot food when it's so hot outside" (35°) and then proceeds to turn both floor fans toward the family instead of spreading the cool air around to the people the staff are apparently so concerned about sitting in the warmer places... The fans/air conditioning aside - we found it extremely disrespectful that the staff took it upon themselves to talk about their customers in a Vietnamese/English mix while they're standing 15 feet from those customers. We sat where we always sit, and I don't want to assume anything about the situation, but we FELT that because we declined their offer to sit in the spot they suggested instead - that they chose to purposefully make it an unpleasant experience for us. Weve been to this restaurant a lot, it's our favorite Thai Restaurant so that's why we were extra disappointed with the staff.

In response to Phoenix Hoang’s review, I most certainly believe that I was present at the time of their visit. I couldn’t believe the amount of disrespect they had displayed, bringing outside snacks, being very demanding and being outrageously ignorant towards the employees. If they wanted to have a picnic, a restaurant should not be the place! For those of you who are food enthusiasts, learn to read the signs on the door before entering ANY restaurant. But all in all, I enjoyed my stay at Viet Thai Basil Restaurant and would definitely recommend the PadThai!

My friend and I stopped at the Viet Thai Basil for dinner on our way through Brantford. He had eaten lunch there before, but neither of us had dined from the dinner menu. We decided to try the set meal for 2. Lots of food for $36 (plus tax & tip). 2 meat spring rolls, 2 large shrimp fresh rolls, chicken lemongrass soup, rice, noodles, chicken with vegetables and shrimp with vegetables. More that the 2 of us could eat! Everything was fresh and well cooked. The soup had just the right amount of fire from the chili oil floating on top. Service was fast and friendly. This is a cheap and cheerful, no frills kind of place with good food in excellent portions.

Have wanted to try this place for a very long time and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food for the price. Unlike some other establishments (you know who you are) in town where you have to order rice and any spring rolls separately, they have a great combo that is fully customizable for one low price. Have already been back here twice after just trying the place. You won't be disappointed!

It's was the worse restaurant I've ever been to. There were flies buzzing around. There were 8 of us, the server gave us 5 plates, then we have to ask for every single addition of items. There was a hair in one of our orders, we pointed it out but the owner came and argue with us, when I found the second hair in another dish, I just pushed my food on the side. The Pad Thai chicken and Pad Thai seafood was socked in sauce. I really don't know how the online rating could be so high before

I always go for the grilled chicken pho soup, chicken pad tai and spring rolls. The soup broth is not bad, noodles don’t taste cooked enough. Taste just isn’t authentic!! I wait almost 20-30 minutes each time. Atmosphere is is not very clean, take family owned to the next level. There’s a playpen in front of the desk and EVERY single time I’m there there’s a baby (maybe 1 1/2 years) in it. Probably in there al the time. I was waiting again for my order and saw the kitchen lady cutting vegetables on their freezer! When I paid with my debit a worker stood behind me watching me pay. Seriously?!

Its a very cute moms and pops restaurant that serves authentic pho and Thai style stir fries. My fiance ordered their beef pho soup and it was amazing, I was recommended their popular sizzler dish and it was nothing short of disappointment. The sizzler plate came out in a cute pig and was very unique. If your ever in the Brantford area be sure to check this place out.

I'd give this place a 6/10. The flavours were not too bad. Having said that the dishes were watery way more then I would like or expect them to be. My experience eating Thai food varies from Toronto to Brampton and other parts of Ontario. The Pad Thai was less flavourful then I'm use to, it lack lime but had peanuts chopped up. Out of all my experiences with pad Thai this was on the lower end of enjoyment. The fresh spring rolls didn't have any carrot * which is the norm for any Thai place that I can find that makes them * the peanut sauce was ok, and slightly overpowering. Wasn't a variety of veggies in them mostly lettuce a little red pepper and something else white and bean like that I'm not sure what it is. I'm use to shaved or thin pieces of carrot/cucumber/red pepper lettuce and those white looking beans I believe. With sweet and sour spicy sauce or peanut sauce. This place said they'd be a bit longer and promised the food would be hot and it was so I give them that.

BAD REVIEWS ARE NONSENSE. Just to clarify to anyone who thinks that there was hair in their food this is not true. The staff use Lemongrass in their cooking and marinating which looks like small hairs but is not, same goes for Bok Choy or Celery. I have been eating here with my family for 10 years and never had a problem. Staff wear hair nets and are very clean. Family run and friendly, the best place in town for Vietnamese food.

So so so good!! If you havent been here you are truly missing out. Authentic dishes at a fantastic price. I'm here at least once a week. The bare naked ladies (band) eat here when they were in town and did a shout out to come at the concert.

The food is delicious but the staff is very unfriendly and unsanitary. They never greet me whenever I come in. When they were pouring water on my glass, they overflowed it and spilled it on my table. The guy did not bother cleaning it. At another time, I saw that same guy picking his nose with one of the napkins he's using to wrap the forks and knives. He uses the same napkin to wrap the fork and knife. He comes to my table and asks for my order without washing my hands.
