We have been going to Speekezzies for several years now and always have fantastic experiences! The restaurant is run by and Italian family for 22 years now! And all family members help out! Heather is very knowledgeable about her wine selections and Anthony does a beautiful job of describing all the food features and makes your mouth start watering! There is something for everyone on the menu and they always have several nightly features of choose from as well. They carry many different wines to choose from. I must apologize for forgetting to take pictures of the food ???? I got so excited and completely forgot. We had mushroom bruschetta and beer and lime mussels for appetizers, very tasty! And for main course we had tenderloin and striploins steaks, cooked to perfection! They always do a really nice job on their veggies! Never overcooked and wilted!! For dessert we shared the house made creme brûlée! Perfectly smooth and creamy! They also have an awesome wood fired pizza oven and the pizzas are superb!! We love the friendliness and warmth this family shows to everyone who enters and will continue to visit as often as we can!

Local Italian joint in Brantford with a hella charismatic owner! Come here for some real Italian food and good wine :) Owner definitely knows his way around the entire menu and can entertain a whole group while serving. The place is family owned and run for the past decade or so (maybe even longer). Food was great, I got the Gnocchi and it was quite creamy (had it for the first time). Would come again for the their pizza or other entrees.

Excellent food every time. Every time I dine here I question why I don't go more often. Decor is a little dated, but gives a little old style Italian cafe feel, but don't let it fool you as the food far outperforms the atmosphere. Wait staff is knowledgeable of the main menu and daily specials. Owner/chef generally comes by a couple times to make sure everything is great for you. Although not cheap but to compare prices, I would spend more at The Keg for less.

My boyfriend and I ate here last night after a guy at work reccomended this resterant. And wow!! I have never had such a wonderful dinning experience anywhere! The owner Anthony is so friendly and hilarious, you can tell he loves what he does! The food was amazing the wait staff is so friendly. I am a very picky eatter and everything I had was fantastic. The portions are very generous. I will definitely return here. If you haven't been, go!!!

Fortunate enough to celebrate our 30th anniversary at this restaurant. From start to finish we were treated like royalty without the royalty price tag. This restaurant should be the benchmark for all restaurants to follow. We won't hesitate to make a return visit as it's great when you are able to come across an establishment that presents a five star rating.

The place looked unassuming, but it had been recommended by friends. The laminated menus didn't match the fantastic food. Great Italian choices, and the steak was perfect, but the service was where they really shined. There was a lot of pride in the family service from several different people and the chef came around the restaurant to check on how we were enjoying it twice. We will return.

I’m sure it’s a great place. Wouldn’t know. Been once it was busy. Informed it was a 2 hour wait so we left. Called another day to see if we could get in. It was 6:20 pm on a Thursday. No room until after 7:30. Guess we won’t be trying it out. ** Update - We were able to try this restaurant out after calling to make a reservation. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the owners (older lady) and our table was not ready. When we did get a table it took about 10 minutes to get a menu and we had to ask for a wine list. Wine selection was quite limited but we found one. Ordered a Caesar salad for $10.00. Thought it was going to be a killer Caesar for that price. In my opinion it was not worth that at all. My husband and I ordered the chicken Parmesan and roasted chicken with pasta. We almost finished our bottle of wine before our meal came. Patrons that arrived after us, were getting their dinners before us. (I feel bad for the group that was to our right when we walked in. They did not have their dinners by the time we left) The pasta was piping hot and pretty good but both chicken portions were very dry. In the end our server said they were having a very off night and tried to make it right. We were not charged for our meals and given a $10.00 voucher to come back and give it a try again. We appreciate the effort but we won't be coming back. Prices are VERY high for this very outdated restaurant. PS - We arrived at 6:30 and left at 8:15. Be prepared to stay awhile if you try this place out.

Incredible family restaurant. Italian theme, but with a wide variety of choice. Food is top shelf and all made on site, including the desserts! Last nights meal was 10/10. I had the fish croquet filled with cod for an appetizer and my wife (Tammy), had a tomato roasted garlic soup. For dinner I had lamb chops (best in the region and I have tried quite a few places), and Tammy had bacon wrapped fillet mignon. Dessert was tiramisu and creme brûlée. Tradition has it that Anthony (owner) will personally tell you what the features are. He does this for all the tables and is very passionate about his food. If you don’t feel like a big meal you can share a stone oven pizza.

Visited with friends for the first time last evening and were so glad we did! Lovely restaurant and a great variety on the menu. As an Aussie was so pleased to hear that there was an Australian fish and a lamb option when our host Anthony tantalizingly described the specials. Anthony's passion as a Chef definitely shows through in his food. My husband had the barramundi and our friends and I had the lamb! Delicious! We will definitely be back!

We were a party of 4 for dinner on a Friday evening and were seated by Heather, our server for the night. She was very pleasant and helpful, very knowledgeable about the menu and made several helpful suggestions. The café is a very intimate place. We met Anthony (owner and head chef) who was fun to spend time with and very friendly. I noticed that Anthony made a point of visiting every table. I enjoyed my order of the Seafood Spaghettini and sampled some of the Rack of Lamb someone else at our table ordered. My biggest suggestion would be if Rack of Lamb is on the menu, get it, it is to die for. We enjoyed our 2 hr dinner and finished off with some in-house made Tiramisu which was wonderful. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and we will be back here the next time we are in Brantford.

Italian family restaurant with freshly made pizzas and several specials on offer. We chose a pizza and a pasta dish and both were great. Staff was courteous and solicitous although it was a very busy Saturday night. They obviously were geared for Halloween and had decked the whole place with hearts, teddy bears and the like. We will have to come back to see how it looks without the over the top decorations but all in all a good experience.

This has to be the worst Italian food ever, at least my dish was anyways, my dinner tasted like frozen pasta, Ive had better at Eastside Marios so that tells you a lot, their pizza is ok, but definitely not worth the high prices, as far as their decor, the 1990s are calling and they want their god awful terra cotta orange and green horrific decor back!

Walking in always takes my breath away with the beautiful subdued ambiance and tonight was no exception. Shout out to Anthony’s mother for her creative genius After warm embraces all around we continued a short conversation with Anthony who, by the way, always makes us feel like family . Such a charmer he is ???? From our delicious appetizers to our main courses along with a superb red wine, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening. First of all, the food is fantastic, service is a bit slow although fresh out of lockdowns I'm sure they need an adjustment period to get back to some type of normal. Secondly, for anyone saying the decor of the place is "dated", it's called authentic, and it suits the theme of the restaurant and staff working it. Definitely recommend and definitely be back!

My friend and I went out for a nice dinner. It was Christmas party season so we went as they opened, hoping that we could get in without a reservation. They were able to accommodate us and staff were attentive and friendly. The Chef coming to each of the tables to introduce himself and talk about the food was a nice touch. We had salt cod bites (too fishy for me but I should have known that) and pasta. The pasta was simply dressed and delicious ( and our entrees were served on hot plates- yah!) I was still craving it the next day, it was that good. We will definitely be back as we enjoyed our meals and service was quite good.

Went to Speekezzies for the first time for my birthday. Atmosphere was ok. Lots of Christmas lights (a bit much). Lady that sat us wasnt very friendly. Menu was ok but made up for it with lots of specials. Wanted to try the wood fired pizza but was told that it was not working from all the snow we had a Week Ago. Owner came around to us a lot which was nice but got no water and asked twice before we got some. A few big tables came in half way through our meal and we didnt see anyone for quite a while. Both of us got one of the specials. The noodles were under done. I like my noodles al dente but this was a bit too much. Taste was decent but was pretty expensive for what we got. Made my $9 drink wrong (very expensive drinks) even after I corrected them. And instead of not charging me for it actually charged me for a extra one (which the owner did take off our bill). Was surprised at the bill. Was very high. But I was not worried since I had a visa gift card from Christmas. Well the Owner said he didn't know how to use them. So had to just pay. Got a $10 gift card for next time we come that expires in 60 days instead of a free desert for my Birthday. Had high hopes but fell flat.

Cozy little restaurant with amazing food! Everyone here knows exactly what they're doing. Immediately you feel welcome and at home. Their menu has enough variety for different options PLUS featured dishes. Amazing flavour, even the french fries taste great. Highly recommend! Dined here for the first time with my boyfriend for our anniversary dinner and I cannot express how pleased we were with our experience at Speekezzies. Not only was the food amazing (the spicy sicilian and focaccia apple-wood fired pizzas were delicious and the cod-potato special was heavenly), but the staff was so accommodating, helpful and very knowledgeable when it came to explaining the menu and specials they were serving that night. The owner even came by during the dinner service to check in on all the diners and see how their meals were going which was thoughtful and added a nice personal touch to the evening. The restaurant itself is charming with all the fairy lights and decorations creating a cozy yet romantic ambiance that really added to the whole experience. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of Speekezzies as it far exceeded our expectations and we absolutely will be back to try some more of their amazing food.

I have been in this restaurant many times. The food is excellent and the great guy serving the clients is one of the best I have ever seen. I would recommend it as the best restaurant in Brantford, with added value. Delicious spaghetti with sea food, delicious lamp chops. I would only change the inside decoration, but this is of minor significance. We always enlist the food at speekezzies. They also have an excellent selection of wine. The ambiance is not great. Too much lighting, plastic and 70ish decorations make it a less enjoyable experience.

Boyfriends birthday. Slow service. Server checked in on us once. We waited 45 minutes to pay our bill! We've been here twice before and this has never happened. What a bad experience we had. Extremely dissapointed with this business. Food is always good but will not be back with how poorly we were treated.

We had a reservation for our group of 8 family members. The ambiance and seasonal decor is very pleasing. Our server Anthony made our evening, with his engaging personality, witty rapport, and menu knowledge. A variety of delicious appetizer choices, entrees, and desserts were enjoyed. Great choice. Speekeezies is a family run Italian restaurant in Brantford and Chef Anthony welcomes every diner as if they were family. The amazing Wood Oven pizza - “Speek’s Classic” is inspired by his wife, Heather who is also almost always there pouring incredible curated wines. That Macchiato peeking in the background is the best espresso you can find on this continent ! Compliments of his dad and his traditional espresso machine.

We did make the mistake of having a lot more hot dishes here rather than sushi, so our experience may be a little jaded as we liked our meal but was not thoroughly impressed as we were at Uchiko, the sister restaurant. Went here tonight for bml christmas dinner and really enjoyed the food and quick kind service. Everyone was brought the same meal cooked the same and my other half mentioned his steak was not as cooked as he would like if they could please burn it for him as he needs his meat well done.i thought mine was great however but i like med rare steak .the chef was kind and pleasant no weird rude remarks upbeat bringing plate back and was super friendly with everyone really...I think I will be planning a date night here now for the tow of us to enjoy as well....thanks.im a hard one to please at 8.5 months pregnant and had 0 neg feelings besides the bathroom was cold....lol

Excellent first time experience at Speekezzies! I had the seafood spaghetti and enjoyed every bite. We were both impressed that the chef came out to let us know all of the features and checked to see how everything was. We'll definitely be back!

Easily the best dining experience I've ever had - everything was absolute perfection! The atmosphere was romantic and warm, our server and the owner were charismatic, knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was beyond delicious. I had the striploin with goat cheese mashed potatoes and every bite was phenomenal, it was a meal you had no choice but to savor. I sampled some of my partners salmon pizza and it was fantastic as well! No complaints here - only absolute certainty we'll be going back for more!

This GEM is probably one of THE BEST Restaurants in Brantford. We showed up without a reservation but that didn’t stop them from seating us quickly (despite it being very busy) and treating us like friends from the moment we opened the stain glass (effect) door. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The lights make you feel like you’re on a private rooftop patio somewhere in Italy. It’s perfect. The food... incredible. I can’t think of a descriptive that will do the food justice. It was incredible. And one more shout out to the staff, seen and unseen, thank you. You were warm and inviting. Your artistry in the kitchen was appreciated. Every tastebud thanks you. Awesome experience. Thanks you. :)

Excellent food and service every time. Many people are not aware that they also offer everything on the menu for take-out, the pick-up time will vary depending on how busy they are. Anthony, the owner/chef, explains his specials in great detail after you are seated. The only problem with this is deciding which one you want to get!

This restaurant is amazing. People are so friendly. Due to the lockdown we ordered online and I could not have been more satisfied with the process. If you want great food and friendly staff this is the best place to go to. I recommend the bacon wrapped tenderloin and the seafood spaghetti. Heather is an amazing lady.
