Went to this place because wasnt sure if it was just a restaurant or also a cafe. I went to the door with my friend and knocked because it just opened, so we waited for someone to open the door. When the owner came to the door my friend asked if this was only a restaurant or if they also served coffee and dessert. The man looked at us both and said sternly "No. This is fine dining and you two dont belong here". I'm assuming he looked at our outfits and judged us because we were wearing shorts and a shirt, nothing extremely fancy on a day that felt like 40 degree weather. After he made that comment he started closing the door and I asked what he meant by that, so he opened the door again and told us not to walk on the grass as if we are five year olds. I turned to him, gave him a smile and said have a nice day sir, so he just kept watching us walk back to our car. To sum up our brief experience with this rude owner, he clearly doesnt care to be polite to potential customers, especially after months of things being closed. I would steer clear of this place because no food is worth the poor customer service and if you are looking for "fine dining", this is definitely nowhere near that. I advise walking right out of there and not giving money to this pr***.

The staff were attentive, there was low background music, quick table service, expected prices, and tasty coffee. Note: you have to climb stairs to get to the washrooms. And I was grateful that they could tailor my meal to my likes (remove the spicy elements).

they were 5 of us for dinner. outstanding food. when 5 people of discerning taste enjoy everything that was placed in front of us is a rarity in the restaurant scene in southern ontario let alone brantford. If this place was anywhere else it would be packed every night they were open. WE have frequented this establishment for many years and it never disappoints. My only complaint is we moved 90 mins away and we can't frequent as often as we wish. There provimi veal is second to none. Family run and great people, food and ambiance

OBNOXIOUS OWNER The food may be wonderful and the service great ..BUT?? 2 of my girlfriends and I were looking forward to our first night out since lockdown so we 'researched' which restaurant we should go to for a nice dinner. We should have gone with ANY other choices on our 'list' as I have never seen an owner of an establishment treat customers like we were treated...(more than once, before we walked out)! We arrived and were greeted by the owner, from what I have read from other reviews, in his usual loud and overbearing way. We laughed off a few inappropriate comments as we were very much looking forward to trying out Cafe Andreou! We had made a reservation for 4 but only 3 of us could attend, for which we were rigidly "scolded" by the owner for not letting him know... a table for 3 or a table for 4 requires the same amount of 'social distancing' so we were not sure what the problem was but it was noted and we apologized for not notifying them of this change. We started our night with a choice of wine and proceeded to order our appetizers and main courses when one of my friends had a question about the menu. She was asking the server if she could add a pasta to the Shrimp Scampi appetizer and have that as her main. The owner 'swooped' in, rudely interrupting the server and aggressively telling us there were NO exceptions to the menu... Ok, we could accept that although it is an Italian Restaurant with plenty of pasta so how difficult is it to add some to the Shrimp Scampi appetizer???? However, he didn't stop there but proceeded to tell her that if she wanted shrimp and pasta, she should order the special, which also included Chorizo sausage. When she asked if they would make the special without the sausage he became more aggressive, saying that she could give the sausage to one of her friends! Is the food premade from a box or something that inhibits them from making "the special" without the sausage??? My friend graciously asked the owner to go away so she could continue to speak to our server to place her order. She chose a different option from the menu and, although we were shocked by his intrusive attitude, we felt it was over and we could get on with our night. That was until the owner returned to our table to ask if the 'problem' had been resolved. When I said that there was no problem just a simple question about the menu, he once again started up with us...aggressive and defending his menu and telling us not to worry "everything we make is delicious".... we had not once alluded to his food not being amazing... as a matter of fact, that was the one thing that kept us there after our first confrontation with this obnoxious little man! He then proceeded to tell us that 'this is HIS house and when we are in HIS house, we will do as we are told and eat what is offered'!! Pardon me??? We are not his children nor his wife (not that this attitude is right for them either) but ...Pardon Me???? Again... a simple question about the menu lead to this!!! I have never experienced a business owner acting like this toward their customers !! To say the least, we had no desire to give this man any more of our money so we asked for our bill and got ready to leave. When we indicated this to the owner, he did not apologize but rather ran back to the kitchen to stop our orders from being made!!!! He totally ignored us as we finished our glasses of wine and settled up our bill with our server....who I must add was so apologetic over and over again! How very sad that she not only lost out on a substantial tip but that she is the one left to apologize for her boss's behaviour!! I see from other poor reviews that this seems to be the one reoccurring complaint about Cafe Andreou. Perhaps the owner needs to find a hobby and stay away from his restaurant and let his capable staff and family members run things?? Once again, the food may be amazing (we wouldn't know!) and the service excellent but we will never be back to try this place again. I do not recommend you take the chance of being accosted by the owner for asking a question!

Great from start to finish! The food was so flavourful and plated so nicely. We typically get one appetizer, one main, and skip dessert but we ended up getting 2 of everything. We were very full (portions were much larger than we expected at a higher end restaurant) but it was all so good! The father and son team were very welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Truly felt like they were happy we were there rather than just customers paying the pills.

I told the waiter: I don't like my meal spicy. in advance (!). And I got my main course done spicy. Even after I wasn't happy with the meal, ! I've heard jokes about it from guy served our table. I don't think it was funny. I don't recommend this place. It was unpleasant experience.

We parked our car, and took out our stroller out with my two years old, the owner came out to tell us this is a fine dinning restaurant. I told him, I knew, my gps indicated that. He then tells us, they don’t accept children, cause they are a fine dinning restaurant. I told him I take my kids to fine dinning restaurants all the time. Which is true, we frequently visit Quatrafoil in Hamilton and Seasons in oakville, trattoria timone, and even Cucci. None of them are snobbish enough to reject children. Good luck to the owner, even though he complimented my child, I still think he is backwards and his business is the only thing that will suffer

I have never had a meal at Cafe Andreou that was anything less than superb. Best escargot I have ever had and lamb shank that simply falls off the bone. It is great to experience anything when it is obvious that there is true passion ivolved. I definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys food.

One should not think of this as a restaurant, you are paying for the privilege to be invited into a man's home for dinner. All the times I have eaten here, I have not been disappointed. This is no "chain restaurant" where everything is opened up from a plastic packaging, assembled and microwaved. This is cooking with pride and love.

The food here is excellent. Had meatballs for appetizer which were unbelievable. Steak and potatoes excellent. Had Oreo cheesecake for dessert which was unbelievable. Never tasted cheesecake so good. Found the owner a bit annoying. Prefer not to have him constantly checking in with us. went for lunch the potato soup was in fact the best i have ever had. pasts followed. they make suck an excellent tomato sauce with those small veal meatballs. in fact we dined at Langdon hall the night before. not as good.

My very good friend stopped by the restaurant tonight. She and her husband are looking for a nice place to celebrate her husband's 80th birthday. They didn't have a reservation as they weren't going for dinner. They were hoping to just stop by the resturant and check it out and look at a menu. The man that came to the door( it was locked and they had to knock) was so unbelievably rude to them!! At first he stood behind the door with it only opened a little bit. They were trying to tell him why they were there..he kept looking them up and down (they were not dressed for dinner), and telling them the restaurant was "fine dinning". When they asked if they could see a menu he just said "we have everything! ..and it's all $35.00. Her husband finally said you are making it reallly difficult for us to want to come here. This man told them to leave. My friend said the whole time he treated them like he thought the were low lifes. She was very shooken about this experience . All they wanted was a nice place to celebrate her husband's birthday with their family. They will never go to this resturant now...and neither will I.

By far the best authentic fine dining restaurant we have been to. We were greeted by the door and felt authentically invited into the owners creation - his home and restaurant. The experience was truly wonderful: from the way the son (server) knew about every menu option in emaciate detail to the farewell handshake after dinner from the owner as we parted ways - everything was exceptional in the embodiment of a fine dining experience. the owner really connected to myself and my partner on a personal level and you could tell he wanted to learn about both of us and build a relationship with us through his craft. We had a spectacular meal last night at Cafe Andreou. The service from Michael and his father, Chris Andreou, was flawless. Chris's other son Dimitri, the chef, made my main couse, braised ribs which had the most wonderful flavour. Heather had the veal scaloppini with proscuito and spinach which I sampled and it was also awesome. We had Michael's homemade apple baklova with ice cream and again it was to die for. A definitive five star outing.

The food is always fantastic. The chef has a special talent for Mediterranean dishes, so keep an eye out for fish and octopus type offerings. I'm generally a red meat guy and I've always had fantastic steak, veal, etc. My father was a fan of the saganaki and it is the best I've had anywhere. Deserts are always nice.

Spent a memorable evening with our friends Chris and Michael I say friends because we’ve been to this wonderful establishment and they continue to remember us and what we do and where we live. As we are from ingersoll driving the forty minutes to enjoy simply the best food I have had in so many years. My wife and I feel that we are foodies. We love to eat. For starters we had Caesar salads, gnocchi and octopus, the mains were the veal chop, rack of lamb, daily special short ribs, and the veal voltini. Beautiful presentation. We stayed for coffee/espresso and desserts - trying the creme brûlé, Oreo cheesecake and the limoncello tiramisu.

Delicious! We really enjoyed our visit at the restaurant this week. The food was spectacular and coming from someone who lived in Italy - it is authentic and tastes just like a trip to Italy! We had the escargot and rosé gnocchi to start. Both were divine! The rosé gnocchi sauce was amazing and had the most perfect favour - creamy, hint of tomate - perfect! My husband said if we were at home he'd lick the plate! For our mains we both had a veal dish - I forget the names but one was with red sauce and another with white sauce - BOTH delicious and different flavours! The veal was cooked perfectly and such an amazing treat since I don't have veal often. The linguni paired wit my dish was cooked to perfection and was of course freshly made. Finally for dessert we had the lemon tiramisu. It was delicious - light, fluffy, a hint of lemon - perfect! We were treated so nicely and loved our experience! We will be going back soon!

This happens to be one of those rare businesses that work for all kinds of people and needs: families, quiet study or work time alone, a business happy hour or lunch with a friend. The bakery had a bunch of unique offerings, so we picked up a few to take home. The cashier noticed part of our guava strudel was broken, and wouldn't let us pay until they grabbed us one that wasn't. That won me over alone

Terribly rude interaction over the phone. Called to check and see if they were open (a friend of our had gone a week ago and said they were closed for renovations) so we wanted to make sure before we drove over.. a man answers the phone and starts to yell at me: "who told you we're closed!?! we've been open for 20 years!! What is in your mind little lady?!? Who tells you this?!?" All I was expecting was just a "yes we're open" and then we'd come down and have a nice dinner. I honestly had to hang up because I couldn't even get a word in to tell him to stop yelling. I have no idea who this man is if he's the owner/a host/a server but he was so rude that we decided to eat somewhere else... even though I heard the food at Cafe Andreou is better - I just didn't want to deal with someone so rude again.

We went there for a business meeting for lunch. From the time I walked up to the door, till the time I left, the experience was fantastic. The waiter looked after are every need. The food was delicious, and I will be going back with my sister. I can honestly say I had no idea this place even existed, but now I tell everyone about it. Thanks again for a great afternoon. Met at the door by a very friendly host , received impeccable service and dined on some some tremendous food . A decent wine list , numerous appetizers, varied entrees and some soft music. The best food you can ever have! We just went last night, and they never disappoint. I had octopus to start and then the seabass, the octopus was divine I recommend anyone try it, and the seabass was so juicy and tasty and perfectly cooked. My wife got their bread salad as always which is her favourite, and steak which was so perfect. Medium rare, on the rare side exactly how she loves it, and still fall apart in your mouth goodness with a sauce that you cant compare anything to. The best there is to eat for sure. The service is also truly amazing, its 100 percent the place to take someone to impress them!

Everything about this place is charming, from the old world character of the house itself to the comfortable ambience created in large part by the friendly and attentive staff. I called to make a reservation for lunch and asked if there was any spots available for 2pm (it states on google and their facebook page that they are open pretty much all day), the man on the phone said they are only open for dinner. I said okay, no problem. And then, he persisted to be rude because I didn't know that they were not open during the day (even though, their online hours state otherwise). Ultimately, I hung up immediately. During a pandemic, I would hope that they would seize being rude to guests who are asking a simple question and update their hours online if they are to be rude. Very rude interaction. We were new to the city and were looking for a place to eat. My mother found them online as she was searching for a good place to eat in Brantford. We parked the car and walked to the restaurant as google map had indicated they were open. We were about to walk toward the door when the owner (older man) stopped us and asked us where we were going. I told him we were there for lunch. He said that they were closed. I apologized and said we thought they were open since their google listing showed them as open and was about to walk away when he very rudly responded "I'm the owner, I don't care what google says. We're closed" and continued to say "and you can't come in without reservation anyway. We're a high end restaurant. We don't jut let anyone in." I understand that they're closed and that they're highend, and I've been to many highend restaurants. But the way he treated me and my family was not an indication of "high" etiquecy or evrn just simple etiquecy for that matter.

We stumbled on this little gem in Brantford when The Keg was booked up. But we couldn't be happier the Keg was full -- this place is much better. The food is spectacular! I had the grilled octopus to start, and it was blackened outside, and tender and juicy inside -- best seafood I've had in a long time. I had the filet mignon next (okay, I still wanted steak) which was cooked to perfection, almost buttery and so tender. My father had the veal piccata, and my mother the seabass, and both cleaned their plates. (My parents dine out a lot -- or they used to, before 2020 -- so they really appreciate good food and good service. And this place made my 74yo mom really happy.) The other thing about this place is that they treat you like family. The owner welcomes you very cordially, invites you into what seems like a beautiful, upscale home with great art, and introduces you to his wonderful family. He visits throughout your meal to check and joke (and flirt a little, like all great hosts do) but never intrudes. His son Michael served us with efficiency and accuracy, kept our water glasses full, and never interrupted our conversation. I don't know how much my father tipped him, but I hope it was a decent amount -- he deserves it. Reading a couple other reviews, some ppl complained of rudeness when calling, but I think they just don't understand the owner's accent and culture very well. The owner in particular was sweet and vivacious when I called to make a reservation. This place impressed us so much we plan to return next time we're in Brantford, and to recommend it to everyone! Keep up the fantastic work!

We had the pleasure to visit Cafe Andreau before going to a concert. Chris and David greeted us at the door Sith a very warm reception. The food was very delicious and the presentation was beautiful . I had the steak with garlic mash and my friend had the lamb. Both dishes were amazing. Definitely will go there again!!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in brantford. By far the BEST restaurant I have been to in a very long time. I have been to fine dining restaurants all over including Langdon Hall and the service, the food, and the atmosphere far surpasses anywhere I have been to date. They greeted us at the door and welcomed us to the restaurant. From what I understand the son (who was our server) is also the chef! AMAZING! He was able to balance both jobs so wonderfully. The food was prepared to order and you could definitely taste it. We ordered several dishes off the menu to try as we had never been there before. Every dish was cooked to perfection and the flavours were simply amazing. You can tell the owners love what they do because they strike up conversations with you. It was a delightful experience and will definitely be a regular repeating client. Job well done!

This restaurant is outstanding had lunch there today. Mike and Chris were super nice and welcoming, They make you feel like you belong. The food is amazing, the cabanera is to die for! I am still thinking about how delicious it was. When i had lunch there it made my day I can't stop smiling. I highly recommend this fine establishment. I will definitely return.

they were 5 of us for dinner. outstanding food. when 5 people of discerning taste enjoy everything that was placed in front of us is a rarity in the restaurant scene in southern ontario let alone brantford. If this place was anywhere else it would be packed every night they were open. WE have frequented this establishment for many years and it never disappoints. My only complaint is we moved 90 mins away and we can't frequent as often as we wish. There provimi veal is second to none. Family run and great people, food and ambiance

The owner needs to learn how to communicate with potential clients. I called looking for some information, I asked if they could accommodate a dinner for a Doctor's office of 12 staff. He said this is not the place to have dinner, you will be noisy and it's not a party place. We were not looking for a party place, just somewhere to have a nice dinner with the office. He then said you can bring your Husband's for dinner !! We would never go there after that conversation. A simple yes we can or no we can not is all he should have said. My advice, hire a person with customer service to answer the phone and by the sounds of it the door as well.
