Discovered this place while driving on 401 and probably best decision to get off highway and eat here. Really tasty and quality food. Spinach Chicken and Paneer Makhni with Rice and Naan was just awesome. ????????????????

The place looked nice and clean and the staff were very friendly. The spinach/potato curry had WAY too much salt in it and the Chicken curry was average at best. Portions of mango and lime chutney come in containers so small I'm guessing it's about a tablespoons worth... for a dollar that it way overpriced for something that is given free in UK curry houses. Sorry guys, it was subpar

This is a great location in Belleville that should be recognized as a go to for Indian food. Portions are excellent, which means if you are worried about “being full” that is definitely not a concern here. They tailor the heat to your preference, so trust me, if you ask the staff for hot they will give you hot. Alternatively they can taper down a dish as needed, which works out really well when the kids want to try something new which may be above their spice tolerance. Overall, excellent Indian restaurant, gorgeous ambiance and terrific service.

I grew up in Toronto and a custom to good Indian food and this place meets my standard :) The food is very flavourful and the prices are fair. You get the biggest bang for your buck with the lunch specials. The lamb vindaloo and Rogan Josh are fantastic!

Amazing atmosphere and food. The paneer appears to be homemade and is incredibly fresh. Quite a popular spot in Belleville; Doug Gilmour of Toronto Maple Leafs fame was dining at the table next to us and had some nice words to say about this establishment.

Food here is great and the prices are reasonable. Servings are huge so bring a friend! An entree will feed two. Staff is very friendly and prompt. The best part is that they will actually make things "real" spicy if you ask them to! Not "North American" spicy.

Very impressed! The lunch special is amazing and just the perfect amount. The quality is great, the service is fast and friendly. I definitely will go with my family again. The biggest downside is the location, because it is ashame such an amazing restaurant is so hidden from people!

Loved the food and the selection. The spice level was ok for my wimpy palate. Price and portions were good and the restaurant was lovely. I got there right at opening and the staff was a little discombobulated and you could tell they were overwhelmed with the amount of customers and the food took almost twice as long than what we were told (were picking up for take out).

I just get to know that onions are referred as chicken, I ordered chicken pakora and all i got was onions in it. Also, I ordered chicken biryani and i hardly found any chicken in it.

Never tried true Indian food before the popup on the bay. I seriously didn't know that food could even taste THIS GOOD! What was i eating before? Cause this is better than anything I'd ever heard of! First time for biryani and it was the perfect combination of deep flavour and spice. Recently tried a local restaurant for me cause I wanted biryani and Royal Haveli is now the ONLY place for biryani if you ask me. Wish there was a closer location to me. It is worth the hour drive when you're able!

Great Indian cuisine. I ordered take out a couple of times, and the food was great. The curry was very tasty. We did order pakoras, I wish they gave more chutney with the pakoras, you only get 1 tiny pack of green/brown chutney. Thank you

The Chicken Biryani is amazing, top go-to dishes would be, Biryani, Rogan Josh and their Spinach Beef. Don't forget to get a side of Raita, Garlic Naan, and some delicious samosas to start.

If I could give 10 stars, I would!! We ordered food from this restaurant last year on our trip in Belleville. We came back this year on a stop and go in Belleville only for this restaurant! Among the Indien restaurant I visited while travelling in Europe or Australia and Canada, it is far away the BEST!!! If ever you are in Belleville, don't miss out! Dishes are a mixed of flavour and scents! All senses are awakened and taste buds want more! The curry chicken is one of our best! The owners are also really nice and welcoming! This place is so good that I'm thinking of moving in Belleville!!! ????????????❤️ We will be back again one day for sure! ????️

The food was no doubt good, but the service. The waitress was not happy seeing 10 people coming in. She rudely asked us if we want to sit on 1 table or 2 tables. Then she took 30 minutes to come take the order. And then we could see her and the cook inside the kitchen eating something and hanging around in the kitchen while we waited for the food. Everyone was upset. We even asked for manager but she said she herself was the manager so we left. We all wanted to give separate reviews but decided to give one instead. Improve your service, else everything is good.

This is a must try restaurant!!! There were five people in our party. None of us were very familiar with Indian cuisine. The service was excellent. Very friendly, patient and willing to explain dishes and help us select the dishes that fit our tastes. The decor is very nice and the food came quickly. The flavours were amazing, spice levels were as described. Everyone enjoyed the meal and vowed to return. The suggestions were perfect and the meal was delicious. Still thinking about it the next day.

The food and service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Interesting to watch the Indian cooking show while waiting for our meal. Dined on a February night. The temperature was a little cool. We would suggest they turn up the heat to make it more comfortable. It's very nice to have a dine in Indian restaurant in town.

An excellent Indian restaurant that is on par with the best in the GTA in my opinion. The best thing about it that 'spicy' really does mean 'spicy'. It's not toned down for lily-livered westerners. The flavours are wonderful and aromatic too - it's not just heat.

Food was fine but I do think it’s a bit overpriced. The palak paneer is heavily spiced. Tasted good. The rice was good but I wish they gave you more. It is not enough for the dish. Garlic naan was good. Overall, there is another place in town I frequent where I get the same amount of food and good quality for much cheaper. This place has a nice sit down restaurant style so it might be better for a dinner out. However for take out I prefer my other Indian food location.

Ordering takeout from Royal Haveli was a pleasent experience. The order took 1 hour, and pickup was fast and efficient. Some dishes ordered were Spinach Beef, Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken and Chana Dahl. All dishes were at medium spice. Portions were a good size and prices are premium, however definitely worth it. Really good, will be back.

Worst indian restaurant EVER!! 16,99 for a 7 bite-size pieces butter chicken? Seriously? And it was awful. Lamb korma sauce was not smelling good (eurk) and doesn't taste good at all. There were only 3 customers at 7pm on a Saturday night... I think I know why. Don't go there.... EVER!!

I grew up in Toronto and have had a wide range of Indian food and the Royal Haveli is one of the best Indian restaurants I've been too. Definitely not a common thing to find in a small town. Their lamb vindaloo is not only spice but flavourful too and the rogan josh is absolutely fantastic!

This Indian food is one of the best I've ever had; incredible flavour and selection. I can't believe this restaurant exists in Belleville. I don't live in Belleville any longer, but every time myself and my friends come back for a visit, we ALWAYS eat here. The owner is super nice and accommodating, and the service is exceptional. Top notch service from the owner and other wait staff. The food was beyond superb with friendly advice from the owner on whether to order Indian hot or Canadian hot LOL. Both versions of hot are delicious but I would suggest Canadian hot if you’re delicate like me! My wife and I have eaten here many times trying many different dishes and have never been disappointed. You need to try Royal Haveli if you like Indian food or just want to try it. The flavours of the food and beverages exploded for me, what a first class meal. Nice owners, great quality and flavours but they should really be more clear about the spicinessnof dishes. If I say mild I don’t mean suicide. I want to like the food but it’s hard when my whole mouth goes numb from a Beef Korma that is supposed to be medium. Tone it down on the amount of ghost peppers you guys put in your dishes and you will succeed even more in Belleville. Add an extra mild option to your menu please.

Unfortunately I can't give a review on the quality of the food as I haven't gotten to try any of it. I called in at 8pm last night to place an order for pick-up. The schedule said they were open until 9. I let the phone ring 10-15 times and never got an answer so assumed they were busy. We waited approximately 10 minutes before my partner called back from his phone. A woman answered and informed us that they didn't take orders after 8pm. Odd, but not a deal breaker. We decided we would just wait until the next day (today) and try again. At 8:56pm last night I received a wrong number call from a woman at the establishment looking for a man who I can only assume they were calling to inform that their order was ready. I told them that there was no person by that name here, and the woman hung up. She then called my partners phone and he didn't answer. We summed it up to them going through their call log to retrieve a customer's number about their order being ready, which could easily be avoided by simply asking for a contact number when an order is placed. Fast forward to today. We called at around 5:30pm to ensure that we called with plenty of time. The first thing we tried to order (chicken Tikka salad) was not available, which is what 3 out of 7 members of our party wanted, so we had to hang up and ask them to choose other things. At which point we all just decided that it was too much of a hassle and ordered issue free from India curry house. We probably won't try to order here again.

I ordered from the restaurant two days ago. Half of the items I wanted (Dal soup and Somoza) were unavailable because of the restaurants ordering issues. I settled on Chicken Korma and patties (as per recommendation of the order taker), but wasn't overly impressed by my take out order. While the food was okay tasting, I am not understanding why I paid 17$ for two cups of Chicken Korma??? The one cup of basmati rice was not also enough to get through the main dish. While I love Indian Food, I unfortunately think this restaurant should reconsider its pricing, helpings and operations. I am sorry, but you despite decent food, deserve this low appraisal.

The food is amazing! The food is amazing! The food is amazing! I can not justify sitting in the restaurant however. There have been multiple occasions where I have waited an hour or more for food, barely been spoken to, or noticed our water jug has been empty for 30 minutes. We were one of 5 tables, and there were 3 people or less at each table. The owner was our server the first time I went, and was fantastic. He’s the only reason I would ever think of dining there instead of a take home meal.

The curry dishes were delicious and came with a generous helping of basmati rice. The meat in the dish was tender and juicy. I got the butter naan which was moist. Bf got the regular naan however which he didn't like as it was crispy instead of soft.

Chicken biryani: undercooked rice and extremely spicy. Response to the owner's reply: I am not sure what should I address now: My honest review and feedback of your food or your arrogance! Anyway, it seems like you are doing good (150 orders a day) serving non-aunthentic chicken biryani. And that there is no scope of further improvement.. all I can say is keep it up :) Try being considerate and compassionate while communicating with your customers (even on platforms like this), it might open some new insights and understanding of the value system a business, especially like the one you have, should have. Edit: Responding to below (caustic) comment from the owner. >> You need to go and find your authentic made biryani somewhere else SUPERCHEF. If you r in the area pop by show us how to make one Ok, now I am finding it a bit difficult where to start from. I think it is, in a way, beyond the original review and I see that you have difficulty taking any feedback which is not all praises. Also, I find that there is a problem with your logical reasoning here, i.e. one does not have to be a "SUPERCHEF" to critique a food item. It is like saying only car manufacturers can review cars. If you stop and think about it I am sure you will get the point. I definitely can't show you how to make a good biryani but I can surely tell you if one is not. And I agree with you that I would have to go somewhere else to find an authentic biryani. I just hope your account is not hijacked by some mischievous kid as it does not sound like I have a mature restaurant owner on the other side who is willing to listen to feedbacks (good or bad) and who cares about customer satisfaction. If it is really you, then I don't think I have much to add and all I can say is that you have one more area to improve upon. All the best.

Horrible food and a very bad experience. Firstly, as soon as I entered the restaurant I was told options are limited and they are close to the closing time. Then our tables were changed as the lady setting up tables says you guys are only 2 but hello!! Dont you see the 4 year old kid who takes most of the space on table. Then I get food served with chicken which tasted like biting chunk of rubber with spices on it. And then they served lassi and when I asked can I get a straw, first they say you can drink it without straw. Excuse me!!! That's my choice. You dont have to tell me how do I make a kid drink lassi. Chicken biryani looked like oil biryani with oil dripping from serving spoon...royal haveli, you guys need to respect customers money and customer themselves. I would not visit the place again for sure

Vomiting up everything is not exactly the experience I pay 50$ for! I don't expect shellfish to be in butter chicken, but maybe the chefs hands were. Who knows, but it's something you should make very clear here as cross contamination is not a concern otherwise. Edit: The restaurant claims there wasn't an allergy issue, I guess my partner just straight up vomited from the food. This isn't a common problem with us, we really enjoy all kinds of ethnic foods with no issues, so really that just leaves me even more concerned. Maybe it's time for a fridge clean out guys? Sorry for the hard review, this is not a normal experience for me

The best Indian restaurant in town, in my opinion. I've eaten here plenty of times and have never had a bad meal --or a bad dish, for that matter. My partner and I frequently order the paneer makhni, bhindi masala, chana, and garlic chilli naan. You can't beat the paneer makhni or naan. The only complaint I have is that one or two vegetarian staples are missing. Please consider adding daal makhani, kadai paneer, and/or vegetable korma. Your restaurant has always done an excellent job with my meals and I'm sure your cooks would also do an excellent job trying these dishes. After trying the other Indian restaurants in town, Royal Haveli is the only one I will continue eating at. Cheers!

A terrible experience. -Extremely long wait times for food and drink We were given warning it would be a half hour before we could place an order for mains but we could sit and have drinks and appetizers in the meantime, which sounded very reasonable but was ultimately false hope for long stay with bad service. Our stay was about 2 hours long and it was a half hour before we were even given an opportunity to order drinks and appetizers. We were not yet allowed to order mains still. - Dirty dishes, beer bottles, and unnecessary items were never removed in timely fashion from the table once finished. This has happened in previous visits as well, were the waitress brings out the mains and seems perplexed that there is nowhere to put the food because no one has been clearing the table beforehand. When a dish is finished and sits dirty on the table, it should be removed. -some tables in the restaurant were not bussed once people left and were left with dirty dishes during most of our stay -Patrons entered and had to wait an extremely long time to be acknowledged by wait staff, which was awkward given we were seated close to the door. Other patrons seemed perplexed by the long waits as well and appeared to also have very long wait times to even get an order taken. -The food was not bad, but not that good either. The butter chicken was very sugary, and the shrimp dish I had was very salty. -I think what infuriated me the most and compelled me to leave this review is that throughout this mayhem, the staff lacked urgency both in the kitchen and at the front. While I saw many issues in plain sight with urgent care required, they mostly were at the back talking. Even while they seemed to recognize their shortcomings, they did nothing to compensate our wait and did not demonstrate any urgency to remedy the issues, like ensuring there was enough to drink, keeping the tables cleared while waiting, or updating us on wait times. We paid full price for this meal, which I thought was bold move after such a terrible service that the staff was not oblivious to. I get it, sometimes people call in sick, or the kitchen gets backed up, but this is when you have to be honest with people so maybe they can make a new plan, to hustle to get things back to speed, or give people a break on the bill, like cover the price of an appetizer as a thank you for putting up with the shortcomings. A little "customer recovery" of some sort. I just didn't see that desire to catch up and that's what was such a let down. I will not be back.

My husband and I visited this restaurant a few months back. I ordered a spicy vegetable biryani dish after being informed they had no vegan/plant-based curries on their menu (not a big deal). I have NEVER known any Indian restaurant to mess up such a simple dish, but they somehow managed to- oil was pooled at the bottom?! My husband's curry was just as oily as my rice. We may as well have been guzzling the stuff. The energy in the restaurant between the workers seemed really off too so maybe it was just a bad day for them, I don't know Edit: We visited in January, not within the last 4 months. The experience was just so bad that my husband reminded me to leave a review. Try to be humble and accept constructive criticism!! You look really unprofessional

Stopped in for a late lunch at Royal Haveli. We have been here before and, usually, get a good meal. This is our first time for lunch. I had the shrimp vindaloo and asked for it hot. It was delicious and hot enough to make your eyes water! Just what I asked for. My friend ordered the appetiser sized Chicken Korma. It was enough that we still took some home. A full meal for most people. Service was quiuck and friendly. Place couold use a little updating but it is clean.

We haven't been back to Royal Haveli for a few months. Place hasn't changed Still quite nice Indian style decor. The waitress we had was just training last time we were here. She was doing much better this time, on her own and quite busy. Still not good at suggesting wine as she is a non drinker but that's OK. We know our way around the wine list which has several local wines. Now to the food! I had the Chicken Biryani. Ordered it Canadian hot, not Indian hot. It was hot, but not too much and easy to eat. Warms you right up.

We used to live in Frankford,(about 30 minutes distant), until we moved to the Newmarket area 2 years ago. We had eaten at the restaurant a few times before and the food was delicious. We had to return to Belleville for an overnight stay last week and decided to go to the Royal Haveli. Well, the food was just as good as it wad two yeats ago, if not better. Simply delicious. We started off with the Paneer Pakora as my friend loves cheese. Large pieces of Paneer coated and deep fried. Very good.

This place is truly a gem! The food is impeccable! Authentic Indian cuisine. The portion sizes are generous, prices are more than fair and the service is delightful. My wife and I ordered again from them yesterday and we even got to meet the owner, who was kind, warm and happy to do everything he could to make us happy! We will definitely return here again in the near future!

Deserve no stars at all for the way they treated us today! I called to ask if they serve halal food. The lady on the phone said NO halal food...Which is ok so i asked them about having veg biryani. She said they did. So we ended up going there later to get the veg biryani. My husband goes in and asks again to confirm about halal and any possible meat contamination in the biryani due to dietary restrictions. This guy says yes it is halal.... my husband was surprised and reconfirmed. This time the guy was very rude and said "how many times you will ask me this?. If you don't trust me go somewhere else and eat". Instead of providing us any certification/proof of the meat being halal this guy expected us to believe his word on something so serious and important! I'm willing to report this restaurant for making false claims and playing with people's dietary restrictions! Edit to reply to the response: and COVID excuses have been used unnecessarily by people like you to dodge a genuine bad review. My husband is vaccinated, was masked when he entered and maintained his distance from the staff. Not sure if your restaurant has some exclusive covid protocols. People can see how you are still dodging our main concern about the food being claimed halal.
