Newly arrived in Prince Edward County, it was our first visit and we loved it. Worth the short drive, no doubt. The Bruschettas, on pizza dough was very good, not great, as tomatoes are not very flavourful these days. Could have been tastier. I was hoping for a good lasagna, to no avail. But... I had the Rigatoni Asparagus, it was excellent. Hot and super tasty. Fresh bread was fabulous. Clean windows and washrooms, always a good indicator for me. Excellent service. Good wines and cappuccino. We will be back.

We have never had a bad experience at Paulo's. My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner out for the first time in many months and it was wonderful - the food was amazing, the service was friendly and professional, and the ambiance always makes any visit seem special.

The carnivore pizza was great but not spectacular. It's worth going and I'd recommend the restuarant. I do wish the Servers had a stricter dress code though, to match the caliber of the venue.

Ordered through skip the dishes. Food was not the best. I would not order it again. However, it was not totally inedible so 2 stars. Pasta was not restaurant quality. The caliber of what I would expect a bachelor buddy to make me for dinner in a small studio apartment. Pizza too. Way to doughy. Kind of burnt. Not very good. I didn’t even want the leftovers the day after I tossed them. Which is rare for me. I thought I would try it and it was a “one and done” for me.

We happened upon Paolo's Trattoria and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is a little "cheesy" but fun at the same time. My friend lamb was the best he has ever eaten (and he eats alot of lamb!) and my pasta was good. But by far the BEST and I mean BEST part was our server Kim. She was extremely personable, professional, friendly and witty. Her recommendations were on point and she maintained that hard to find balance between professionalism and a down to earth feel. We would return simply to have Kim as our server!

Made reservations on Friday morning to dine there Saturday night. The girl on the phone was very nice and accommodating as I asked about dining on the patio. She said it wouldn't seat a table of 4 but could put us in the courtyard that was between them and Dinkels. I mentioned how I'd never been there and she said oh good then you have the option of ordering off either menu when seated there and she would let Dinkels know also. I was very much looking forward to this experience with our visiting friends. When we arrived on time we were greeted at the door by an older man who appeared to be the owner. I told him what I had booked and he said very rudely No no....i can't guarantee you there is a table in that area but you can dine here by the window. I asked if he would please check as I had made reservations. He came back very rudely and still said no and wasn't even the slightest apologetic! So I said we are not staying then and that there were other places to eat in Belleville. I told him we were leaving due to his attitude towards us from the moment we arrived, and he replied "Fine then". WOW...if he is the owner or manager (which I'm sure he was with his Italian accent), then he should really stay away and let the staff look after everyone and just collect his money! We went to Birdies on hwy 2 instead and had a wonderful meal and experience! Terra Empey

Love the ambiance of the garden courtyard, you feel like you are on vacation in Europe! The staff was really helpful. Food was fantastic! I had the calamari and it was soooo tender and melt in your mouth wonderful, so fresh, honestly some of the best I've had no matter what restaurant or what city I've had them in. The closest ive had to sea side fresh! I'd highly recommend! My partner got the caesar salad and it was massive, love the croutons! I had the steak as my main and got it just the way I like it. :) It felt like a mini holiday, we are coming back again for sure!

Have loved Paulo’s in the past. Went for dinner last night, waited to be seated for 5minutes, another 10 before our server even greeted us, (it was not busy). Escargot came with no bread, chicken Marsala was a very tiny portion (for $24), and only came with a Caesar salad. Server made us feel rushed, and only came to our table once after our food was brought to us. Didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks, or anything else. Left very disappointed!

Going to have the 8" wood fired pizza... they have home made bread buns, which are always a welcomed touch! Good quiet place during lunch time. One thing to note, watch out for the bottom of the chair backrests as they catch in belts/rear pant buttons, etc. Cheers

This little restaurant is awesome. As we were walking down the street we could smell there kitchen in advance. They have a good selection of wine, and beer. They have a wide selection to choose from. The place was very busy. We ordered and they brought the salads very quick and the rest of our food came and it was piping hot and tasted awesome. I will definitely go back as well as I would recommend this place to all my friend and family. The prices we a bit high but was very good.

Ok - full disclosure. I love this one particular pizza so much - Naomi - that it's what I order every time i go. I introduced it to my friend and now I think it's going to be her favourite menu item too. We paired it with their house Italian Pinot Grigio - I am not much of a wine connoisseur so I don't recall the label. If you are in Belleville, you must try this oven-fired pizza. Great service, owner Paul Dinkel has an impeccable reputation in our town make so make this a go-to place to eat in Belleville. Plus I love what they did with their facade renovation - looks beautiful. If you want a real taste of Italy, you can go next door to their fine dining restaurant and in the summertime, enjoy dinner in their courtyard. You'd think you were in an actual Italian courtyard - it's just lovely.

Amazingly unique and wonderful atmosphere. We went there last night and we NEEDED dinner to be great after a really long week. They didn't disappoint and it made the start to the weekend so much better. The flavours are creative and the quality was definitely perfect. Local ingredients and fresh tasting salads and veggies. Who knew tomatoes could taste this good on a cold Jan night? The salmon was perfect and chicken parm was so good, I would love to try and figure out how to make that sauce but maybe I'll just go back and save some time. In the days of generic food places, this place stands out and I'm thankful for it. Local owners who really try. Service was great too! Hats off!

We took home a little bit of LUXURY to remind us of normalcy and better days. He had just returned from Toronto for his FRESH handpicked food order. Pandemic or no pandemic, Paul is still getting the best quality ingredients for his customers. The Paulo’s & Dinkel’s Restaurant Teams NEVER fail our expectations or TASTEBUDS! Chef Matt and our server, the lovely Joanne, were so amazing! We ordered: Caramelized Ginger Tiger Shrimp Bococcini & Tomato Salad Wood-fired Paulo’s Focaccia Seafood Linguine (35% cream sauce, mussels, scallops, shrimp) Linguine Roberto (pesto 35% cream sauce, herbed chicken, SD tomatoes) - I’ve been ordering this fave dish for almost 3 decades! Cappuccino Chocolate Meringue (Daquoise) Cherry Cheesecake THE PASTAS and apps were perfectly executed (al denté and the perfect balance in texture and flavour with fresh ingredients and a generous amount of herbed chicken in the Linguine Roberto and fresh seafood in the Seafood in the Seafood Linguine). The ginger brandy caramelized tiger shrimps were to die for and the bococcini and Roma tomatoe salad with capers, olives! Lettuce and onion drizzled with Paulo’s Balsamic vinaigrette dressing....amazing! We love that the presentation made it during the car ride back to my parent’s. See that huge dollop of whipped cream on the side of the dessert? Yes, only the FRESHEST CREAM WHIPPED a la minute! Where are you going to get a delicious complimentary wood-fired oven focaccia included with your dinner? Paulos Dinkels...that’s where! Thanks Paul and Team! My dad’s birthday dinner was a hit!

When a friend visited from out of town yesterday I wanted to show him a nicer spot in Belleville and so we opted for Paulos - I had heard many good things. I really wanted to like this place because I want to support independent restaurants and downtown Belleville really needs more places like Paulos downtown, but I was really overwhelmed by my experience here. The only redeeming quality was our server (Morgan?) who was really sweet and helpful. It was lunch hour on a Monday and there were just a few other tables taken. Firstly, the place needs a bit of a makeover. The curtain to keep heat in the place as you are walking in looks like a carpeted shower curtain. The booth we sat in needs to be re-upholstered. It just felt really dated. The beams and high ceiling are really nice, though. The open kitchen design is enjoyable too. They appeared to have bright, sunny seating upstairs; however, our server informed us the seating is only available on Fridays and Saturday. Our server brought us a bottle of water right away - I always enjoy this because it saves everyone the hassle of refilling water glasses over and over. She was able to list off all the beers offered on draft and by the bottle. They have a typical line-up. Steamwhistle on draft and by the bottle - Coors, Molson, Stella, Peroni, and one local beer from Prince Edward County (Bearly Bay?). My friend ordered the Bearly Bay and said it was surprisingly good. I wish they would have had more local beers featured. Shortly thereafter, she brought some bread and packets of butter and told us of the specials. I ordered the Naomi's Special 8' pizza lunch special with a garden salad (which typically comes with raspberry vinaigrette but I opted for balsamic and olive oil). I was undecided on the lemon chicken pizza or Naomi's special (pesto, brie, mango, and pine nuts) and my server was knowledgeable enough to help me settle. Lunch was served promptly. We were not offered any fresh ground pepper or parmesan, but she happily obliged when we requested. On the whole, the food was rather disappointing. I would not recommend Naomi's special. It was nothing to write home about. Largely, the salad left me hungry. The lettuce tasted as though it was straight from a box of spring mix with a few cucumbers, carrot shavings and tomatoes and it was drenched in dressing. I hardly touched it. The most disappointing aspect of this restaurant was the fact that it did not seem fresh. Butter was in packets, parmesan was not fresh, dressing (though I asked for balsamic and olive oil) was almost definitely Renée's ® Balsamic Vinaigrette, lettuce tasted like package spring mix. It's a restaurant and you sort of expect things are made from scratch and fresh, no? It just felt lazy. For my 8' pizza and salad, and my friends 8' pizza and beer, the bill was $37 + tip. I really don't mind paying that, but I had higher expectations for Paulos. I know Belleville doesn't have much as far as fine dining goes but really, I had higher hopes for this place. Bottom line: Service was good, but the food was nothing to rave about - disappointing even. Based on this experience I would not recommend the place. I might visit for a beer on the patio in the summer but will pass on the food.

Had dinner with my husband here, the food was delicious. My husband had the rack of lamb which was grilled to perfection, medium rare and tender. My penne Rose Vodka came with succulent, plump shrimp with a wonderful sauce. Prices are what you expect of a great restuarant and in line with any Toronto or city restaurant. We were blown away by the knowledgable service of our server Kathy, who recommended a great county wine which has become our favourite! Worth a return visit!

We had a wonderful lunch here in a kind of atrium, complete with little fountain. It was very quiet here, off season, I guess. Nicely presented meal, a server with character, only steps from our B&B. We might have been in a little Portuguese village, given the setting. Memorable.

This was our first time here. Can not believe we have never been before now. It was an amazing experience. Our first time out for dinner since April and it was so worth it. Our waitress came over and ask us how dinner was, our daughter said ok, but our waitress was not convinced so almost insisted she have something else. That was so nice. We loved the experience and can't wait for summer to sit on the patio. Thank you all. I wish I knew our waitress's name so she could get a thank you. We were the first customers in at 5:30 today, that may help.

I was craving a nice italian meal and after reading the positive reviews I thought I would try this restaurant. I was very disappointed with the meal. The pasta was over cooked, needed salt and the veal scallopine was eye of round. For the price of the meal I expected more. The waitress was very nice and provided great service but couldn't over compensate for the food. My boyfriend's lamb chops where eatable but the penne pasta with tomato sauce was overcooked, needed salt and was very bitter.

To make the experience even worst, the service was also bad. This the worst Italian food I ever tasted and it was over priced.

This food is over priced for what they offer, but the inside is very beautiful. I've never had such a bland "fired roasted pizza", the salad was ill prepared. The clams were pretty good though. From the outside this place is very nice. The servers were great and very accommodating as we were a large group(15-20 people) and a few of us has food allergies/sensitivities. However the food was a bit pricy for what you get and for my taste it was a little bland. But for the rest of the people in my party they enjoyed it. All in all it was a good place for a large crowd.

Loved this place. We are from Toronto and took a drive out for the day and found ourselves here for dinner. Beautifully decorated and felt so warm and cozy. The owner Paulo came and said hello and we chatted for a bit. Just after our dinner, he came back with a map of Prince Edward County and shared all the hot spots we should discover. That truly made our dinner even more special on top of the delicious food and service!

I had the penne pasta with olive oil, garlic, roasted veggies and parmesan. Worst Pasta i've ever had...there was no garlic and no oil in my dish...pasta and roasted veggies pretty much. Came with side of dried parmesan not even french. I wouldn't recommend for the food, it was very pricy too. But the venue is nice.

A strange evening. A reserved table for 7 with a great view into the kitchen. I guess our waitress forgot to tell us the specials. We only figured that out when another waitress yelled it out to the customers at another table from 8 ft away. The waiter for another table felt the need to kick my chair or brush by me everytime he passed. Waitress had to check if they had steak, and said they didnt have musssels for the seafood linguini. The seafood linguini did come eventually with mussels. Wood fired pizzas were ok, but a wet/soggy bottom. Not good enough at 20-25 $ each. The linguini cream sauce was like water. Some of the linguini was hard and stuck together. At $30 a plate, thats dissappointing. Overall, not really that good. Kind of disappointing.There are better options in Belleville for Italian. Ps. Flies everywhere

Paulo's made our 35th anniversary happen with a spectacular meal, hot where it was supposed to be and cold where it was supposed to be. Ready on the dot of when requested. Staff were very helpful, The meal was wonderful and during these difficult times it made our anniversary all that it should have been and I didn't have to cook. Found this place on Yelp, so I decided to give it a try. Came in on a Monday for lunch. Thought I was going to a diner. Little did I know I was walking into a smokehouse and bourbon bar! They have my favorite bourbon, Blantons, but seeing as how it was a school day, I had to pass.

Yummy baked goat cheese salad and the burschetta had perfectly ripe tomatoes. Our curry pizza was nicely baked and the pasta rigatoni was so creamy. Tiramisu is a perfect way to end your meal. Always a place to check out and Enjoy!

This year the service always seems to be slow and distracted even though the place isn't busy. Food is ok but it's weird having to spend so much time sitting around hoping for a server to show up. Last year my review was: Tasty food, friendly service, in a classic building with wood floors, stone walls, huge structural timbers, and a mezzanine that isn't even fake. Classy. (Not pretentious, like many places that try hard to be classy.)

Excellent service! Food was good, a little light on the salt, but I preferred it that way. Beautiful open kitchen, I love the fact that you can see some of the preparation depending on where you are seated. However, it was distracting to the eye that the kitchen staff was not wearing uniforms or "whites" , no offense to Neymar Jr Barca jersey... lol. I like to see a little more professionalism for that style of restaurant. Which to me most patrons looked like they got dressed up for. I think, the staff should also be dressed for the occasion. Anyways, other than that, this is certainly a very nice place to come for a nice relaxing meal and ambiance. I look forward to coming back in the spring / summer time to experience your court setting. Thank you kindly for a great experience. BTW, we, my wife and I, both decided to leave the... "The Boathouse Seafood Restaurant And Waterfront" after having been seated in a corner to steer at the walls. Thank you for that boathouse because we has an amazing, hospitable time at PAULO 'S ITALIAN TRATTORIA.

We are never disappointed with Paulo's. Tonight we ordered takeout and everyone was so great to deal with. I have to say when I got home and unpacked our food, there was a piece of carrot cake with a strawberry, grape,whipped cream and a twig of mint included in the dinner. We didn't order it but enjoyed it very much. The food is genuine as are the staff. Great to support people like Paul and Elizabeth who do so much for supporting local. Thank you!

The taste of disappointment. My husband and I went to Paulo’s for dinner and it’s probably been our worst dinner experience for a long time. We ordered pasta, that were overcooked and tasteless. I had seafood linguine swimming in the cream (and not much else) and the scarce seafood seemed to have been defrosted in the microwave. I would have done better at home. On top of it all, it was frankly overpriced. It’s a shame to charge customers $28 the meal for such low-quality food. The service was the only thing that saved our evening, as our waitress was nice. I don’t recommend this place at all.

The food was okay. The rack of lamb was very tough. Not sure how they managed that. Not much to choose from in Belleville. For the same money we would have had a much better dining experience and meal in Vancouver. This was our fourth time there, but most likely will not be back. I could have actually cooked the same meal much better at home.

Great service! Came with my 15mo baby who decided Mum couldn't have lunch... waitress was very supportive, put my drink in a to-go cup, got my pizza to go and gave me a hug as she saw me struggle. Made my day. Woodfire pizza is amazing. Recommended!!!

We ordered takeout using a third party app. When I arrived to pick up my food they hadn't received the order (not their fault). The waiter was kind and welcomed me, inviting me to sit and wait while they prepared my order right away. Although there was confusion regarding my order the service was excellent and they handled the situation perfectly. I really appreciated the experience and will call directly for takeout in the future.

Loved the atmosphere and service was excellent. We had the mussels and it was very tasty. We also had the steak and it was done to perfection. The pasta that was served with the steak was a bit bland but overall a nice little restaurant to visit. There is also a courtyard that opens in the Spring so I will definitely return to experience that.

My wife and I went out for our 6th year anniversary to Paulo's. It was a great choice! The food was delicious from apps to dessert. Our server was polite and courteous. The wood fired pizza was fantastic, as close to a pizza from Naples as you can get. If you like Italian food and wine then you will like this place. Like they say go for the food stay for the wine!

Decided to try this place as we are new to the area. It was to be a special dinner with my mother in law Food is average at best and prices are beyond what they should be. $26 for mango chicken and a side salad nothing else is a first for us. It was a half chicken breast with mango pieces and no other sides. My husband had the chicken parm with salad. Never once have I been to a restaurant where they don’t offer you vegetables and a side, serving a protein with a side salad is something anyone can make at home. If you are gluten free steer clear how dare they charge you an extra $4.10 due to an allergy. We left underwhelmed and still hungry. Not impressed and will never return. My mother in law is still telling us how disappointed she was

Had dinner at this amazing Italian restaurant in Bellville. Great service, good ambience. The pasta was splendid. I had the Alfredo Linguine. It had a great flavour with subtle hits of Onion and herb. The pizza was alright. Definitely reccomend the pasta.

I give Paulo's one star. Because I have to. To be honest the staff was friendly both on the phone and in person when we went to pick up our food. We got back to our place and saw that they had forgotten our salad, and the rest of the food was truly disappointing. There were two shrimp in our seafood pasta. The rest of it was swimming in oil and over cooked the tomatoes and the snap peas. I would say salt was the only flavour we tasted. The lamb was over cooked and the flavour was below standard. The pizza had no sauce and was basically toast with chicken on it. We were disappointed since this restaurant had the best reviews in Belleville. For the price we paid ($18 for seafood pasta) the food simply was not worth it.

We happened upon Paolo's Trattoria and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is a little "cheesy" but fun at the same time. My brother's lamb was the best he has ever eaten (and he eats alot of lamb!) and my pasta was good. But by far the BEST and I mean BEST part was our server Kim.

It's quite good in flavour, but charging $4+ for gluten free options is unreasonable. Most places dont even charge for GF pasta anymore, and I've never seen a GF pizza charge of more than $3. I really wish there was more plant based options. If you're vegetarian you're going to easily find an option, but if you're lactose intolerant or dairy free, you'll quickly run out of options. If you are WFPB you are totally out of luck! ????????‍♀️ We were upstairs where it was quiet and calm, nice atmosphere. Waitress was lovely, especially in helping me try to pick out a meal. Told my partner, I really did enjoy the meal but I would rather not return due to the option issues for me and the additional cost to feed me. We paid about $29 for a small plate of pasta (linguine alfredo) for me. Giving 4* over 3* because a bunch of these issues wont affect others. My BF enjoyed his calamari and pizza.

Sweet waitress but awful food. It's supposed to be an Italian restaurant but my chicken parm was a salt party and tasted and looked like reheated chicken. My noodles were well overdone and the sauce tasted like it came out of a can. My wife had mango chicken which she said tasted good but came with a Caesar salad smaller then most appetizer salads and there was nothing else on the plate. To get gluten free noodles was like 5 bucks extra???? What?? And to change the kidssauce to Alfredo $4 extra? So not on par with pretty much any other restaurant and we eat out 5 days a week. I will definitely not return even though it looks nice I go to an Italian restaurant for authentic Italian food. The food here makes eastsides Mario's look authentic. Only giving 2 stars because the waitress was kind but other than that 1 star all the way.
