The best restaurant experience in Belleville
Excellent food and service. Presentation was impecable.
L'Auberge de France has the best sandwiches in town. The full French bakery makes all breads in house - on Saturday mornings, they also offer almond croissants loaded with marzipan and butter. Local beer and cider are on tap during the day. They also host monthly Chefs Plate dinners which are a hit, so book early.
Delicious food and pastry, when you see clients line up for a croissant that is the first sign of food goodness
Atmosphere is good, friendly staff and good food. The prices are a little high, but you get what you pay for.
Love this place. Amazing and delicious food and deserts. And the croissants! Fantastique. And of course the service is always warm and friendly.
Awesome croissants on a Saturday morning, but their coffee is a major disappointment. The barista's consistently overheat the milk, burning both the coffee and milk...
My daughter says they don't put enough ketchup on the fries. My wife says she wishes the gluten-free options that they had were actually there.
I got canned food and frozen fries for $100 per person. It gave me food poisoning and diarrhea. Greatly presented dog poe. It’s seems like one of those places in Paris were they served you pre cooked food that arrived in the restaurant in plastic bags and can (saying “fait maison” on the menu) for a fortune. A real money grabbing tourist trap. On top of that the place was too warm when we arrived. I don’t think any one complained but they decided to open the front door to let the nice -20 air to get in. This place is an insult to French cuisine and craftsmanship. Avoid at any cost. Early 2018.
Lovely food.
Nice place for lunch and a glass if wine. Great atmosphere. Come on Saturday if you want to buy bread. Need more vegan options though.
Love this place! I wish they showed up earlier in my life but they don't ever pop up in Google's food suggestions. Saturday fresh bread and love their desserts.
What a wonderful place, I can eat good food and get delicious coffee and dessert here without producing any waste :) The coffee creamer is great!
Cozy atmosphere but no breakfast on weekdays
Friendly and inviting staff from the moment you enter. The food was amazing, probably some of the best bread I've ever had. The prices were fair, and the decor added to the Parisian ambiance.
Love their Saturday morning croissants. Even though that's what we go for we usually have a hard time picking something to eat because everything looks so delicious. Usually end up having an almond croissant and a sandwich and then take pastries home for dessert after dinner. On our last visit we had the special hot lunch, a duck poutine that was to die for!
Their croissants are THE BEST!
Cute cafe with tasty food!
Great food but REALLY busy resulting in nowhere to sit and enjoy.
well its a hard one to rate. It is French and though I am not a fan of French food I am a fan of good food done right. I ordered Coq au vin. which I figured would be easy but what I got was an over salted dish of chicken. The mashed potatoes were good and the presentation was awesome just the chicken was as if they dropped the entire salt cup in with chicken during preparation. now I had some of the duck and beef liver from the plates of my dinning companions, and these were both awesome...my dish over salted...I have wanted to go back again and try something else...just never have the time and also have not made any time either...that is my fault...check it out if you have time and the money...as I found it to be pricey too...
Some a disappointment! Great food and lovely cafe!
This is a sandwich, pastry and coffee, eat in café! The pastries and sandwiches are made fresh daily! The food is top quality but very expensive! Sometimes there is live music but always there is music! The staff are friendly and proud of their products! It is a very busy, very noisy place. Many couples eat at this very popular shop!
My family and I love visiting here on Saturday mornings for fresh croissants! We also pick up cheese, bread and wine. This place is a one-stop shop.
Really Nice Atmosphere, yummy lunch.
Great almond croissants always!
Quality is one word I would use to describe this place! The coffee and tea, freshly made breads, pastries and many other delectable goods keep my wife and I coming back! Service is great, always with a smile and the atmosphere is very welcoming and authentic.
Their roast beef and brie sandwich is the best sandwich I have ever had anywhere in the world. I haven't tried their grocery or pasteries but they look good AF too.
I stopped in for a quick sandwich and was I very glad I stopped . The smell of the restaurant was amazing. While I was waiting I noticed all the baked goods. One of the customer told me I should try their chocolate croissants. I went back on that Saturday morning and I love them ...I' m HOOKED
Authentic French bistro right in to heart of downtown Belleville. The breads, meats and cheeses create an authentic and wholesome French taste that is unique throughout the Quinte region.
I had lunch here with a client once and ate lunch with my family a couple times. It's like a trip to Paris. The food is amazing, simple but amazing. I really enjoy it and I make sure I stop in when I can.
Excellent brioche and croissants
Out of this world soup, salad and sandwiches!
I am a regular at this place; their croissants are definitely to remember. Lovely people. Once my order got mixed up with someone else's, they apologized, and gave me extra croissants.
Where is the SIX-Star possibility ?! Almost every Saturday I come here to buy fresh bread and tasty croissants and/or delicious breakfast sandwich together with a double espresso. And sometimes some wine (red or white) to enjoy with dinner. Coming from Germany myself I truly enjoy the European flair of this French take-out/restaurant. Keep coming back.
Good food, good service. A taste of Paris.
Perfect for lunch, great food. Had the huge turkey club with fries it was excellent. I was advised I should have both mayo and ketchup with the fries, I dipped in ketchup then the (possibly homemade) mayo, works well.
Delicious breakfast special and amazing atmosphere!
This is the second time i came to Prince Edward for cottage and both times I made sure I stop by this bakery . They have the most delicious sweets. And I made sure to bring some back to Toronto.
Lovely food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff.
Authentic, great sandwiches and tasty desserts. The frozen Meat pies were not as good as we imagined. We will certainly go again.
Really tasty food! Had a brunch here, nice combo of soup and sandwich
Superb French cafe amazing food choices
Delicious desserts and fresh pastries!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely going to back :)
I Love the French Place, anytime I have to go to Belleville, which I am not really into, I have to go here...the food is amazing, the staff are wonderful and they have great wine...lots of frozen prepared options to take home...coffee they will grind for you...the best thing about Belleville is The French Place!!!!!!!!!
Food is amazing!!! Pastries are to die for.
French food to remember rest of our life. I can go back Belleville only to have breakfast here!
Saturday mornings are the best due to their freshly baked pastries, and they have delicious sandwich options. Excellent coffee and beer selection, but service is never consistent.
Favourite place in Belleville. Wonderful pastries, great selection of wine, delicious French classics, and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend.
Amazing...the soup was a miracle in a bowl and the quiche was summer in a bite!
Incredible soup, homemade bread, solid sandwiches.
Love Saturday morning breakfast. Make a reservation
Amazing food, cozy location. Makes you forget that you're in Belleville. How lucky we are to have a place where you can have such interesting and delectable foods as croissants aux amandes, duck poutine, etc. Try their monthly chef's table as well... Never disappointing!
Best coffee in town :)
This restaurant is a jewel within range of Toronto or Montreal and worth a stop if you are nearby. Call ahead because sometimes the place is booked for events due to growing popularity. First off, I'm not a food critic, but I enjoy well-prepared food. This is my favourite place right now. The decor is rustic French country bistro. The ambiance is perfect for the goal, which is to keep the focus on the food. We visited the Chef's table for late September 2013 and it was a fun time meeting strangers, and sharing a slice of life with them. The opener was a beautifully balanced and hearty barley soup, with an assortment of exquisite mushrooms, including some snow cap enoki, or velvet stem adorning a creme fresh topper. The underlying base of the soup held barley, peppered with mini-crimini, and a perfectly sculpted base with mixed autumn veggies. Stock to mirepoix was held in excellent contrast. We plated the main ourselves, and were given big platters of food to pick and choose our adornment veggies from. Our main was a puff-pastry pursed halibut, on a bed of fennel and leek, with a balance of capers. We were given a traditional French béchamel sauce so we could take care of our own sauce preference, and it was so deliciously complex, drawing out the pings of flavour from each of the ingredients within the purse. Puff pastry with fish is a very tough dish to pull off well, due to the delicate balance between the baked pastry and the moisture of the fish. This was completed masterfully at L'Auberge de France. Desert was a traditional French Black Forest cake, favoring autumn colours and featuring imported cherries. The layers of the cake contrasted and delighted; this dense-but-buoyant creamy desert was simply exquisite, and accompanied with a peach coulis, and a citrus whipped cream to further the range of flavours. Bottom line: Don't miss this place.
Extremely pleasant staff. Some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Cannot go wrong with the Chicken Havarti.
Live this place and the authenticity!
Very cute place and nice french cuisine.
Servers are incredibly personable, always remember my name and ask me how my dog is doing. So much love for it here! Plus their food is to die for, grab their smoked salmon sandwich for a real treat!
I just ordered a sandwich from l'auberge. OMG, the best sandwich EVER in the history of sandwiches... This is best thing between sliced bread!
Go for the croissants, stay for the quiche. They are both fantastic, and you might as well pick up some of the other tasty things they make there. Don't forget to sign up for their Chefs Table - had a great time and meal at one of their special evening sittings. BTW, if Karen Widling (who is a fantastic person and left a review 2 months ago) loves this place - you should too!
(Translated) The best restaurant in the area. We need to reserve a week before. Open day as a bistro. In the evening on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (Original) Il migliore ristorante in zona. Bisogna riservare una settimana prima. Aperto il giorno come bistro. La sera il giovedì, venerdì e sabato.
We have been going to this place every other month for 3 years now and it's the only place I can say that serves freshly prepared food consistently. We have never had a bad meal here. We tend to stick to the same meal almost every time however, we've brought family here so I can safely say we've sampled the menu. It is always so good and so fresh. We've been to the big yellow sushi place up the road which I would compare to McDonald's of the sushi restaurants. The service here is always friendly and helpful. We've been in here when it's slow and busy - the quality of the food and service is never compromised. Always great.
Such a heartwarming experience to eat honest to goodness real French food. You'll have to fight for the chocolatines here and the menu is always fresh and parfait.
One ???? was couple days old. The other one just tasted sweet, surgery. Quality was as par with Timhorton at most. Decorations was nice.
They have catered for my office for the last 2 years. This was my first time at their restaurant to sit and eat. The food was incredible- definately not ordinary. The atmosphere was so cozy and the service great! It will not disappoint you!
Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and really good coffee!
Homey, but good
Good food, service a bit scattered it need a better organization, everything is done through the cashier which is overwhelmed with two transactions, it was a little too expensive I thought, our americanos were inconsistent so very disappointing. I think overall it should be better.
Update: I visited this Cafe this weekend with my family. It has lost it's warm and cozy touch since my last visit. No longer is there seating inside and it has become more of a food market with long queues of lines. There is limited seating outside and we came earlier enough to find seating. My family and I collectively spent more than $100 on breakfast sandwiches, pastries, juice and coffees, including 2 lattes. I had failed to mention when ordering the 2 x 3.50 lattes that I had wanted decaf (I'm very pregnant). I had dropped my pastry bag outside on the patio and promptly returned to notify a staff member that I would like the lattes decaf. She advised me it was too late they will not accommodate me and to get to the back of the line where I would have to pay for this mistake. And then they whisked away the 2 caffeinated lattes I'd just paid for, with barely an opportunity to offer them to my family. My sister in law kindly waited in line to order a decaf latte for me and when she was waiting in line she overheard several staff members gossiping about me. The decaf latte that they had then brought out was scalding hot and oversteamed. Most of the other food items were good. Noting that my mom was disappointed with the croissants she has heard so much about. This was my second visit here and based on my experience with such poor, bitter customer service this time, I will not be returning nor will I recommend it. ------ Old review: This is such a cute little addition to downtown Belleville. It has a very warm, cozy feel with all the Parisienne touches. Service was quick and kind and coffee was delicious. The croissant, which is said to be best enjoyed on a Saturday morning when they're freshly baked, was pretty good; however, I will be excited to try other things off their menu next time. They had a very enticing lunch menu offered, but I was visiting for coffee. Overall, I would highly recommend, and will certainly revisit.
Perfect venue and ambience for our team lunch ... Food was delicious. Thank you.
BEST croissant in the region (Saturday mornings only). Pricey, but worth it and extremely luxurious. Croissants are usually sold golden yellow so you can heat/crisp them to golden brown at home in few minutes in the airfryer/oven. Brie filled croissants are even better but also cost a little more! I buy 8 at a time, freeze them, and indulge when feeling decadent.
This is the first time I have taken a moment to rate a restaurant on here! This place is fantastic, I drive 1 hr to eat here often! Keep up the amazing work!
Found this while googling places to have lunch at in Belleville. Definitely going to come back. The Duck Poutine was delicious.
Great staff! Awesome food!
Delicious soups. Croissants made the way they should be, with butter!
Perfect spot for coffee and, if you go early on the right day, fresh croissant.
Delicious. Authentic. Friendly.
Always a pleasure to dine here. A wonderful experience that delights all the senses. Perfect service, attentive in a very timely manner to needs and wants. Needed napkins...wanted coffee. Thank you Molly!
Great food and atmosphere
Food and coffee were amazing. It was confusing at first when having to find a seat, then go to the front and order and then wait at the table for the food to come, but once it arrived, I was not disappointed. Super friendly staff and they even went a bove and beyond when they messed up my order. It is refreshing to see great customer service.
Good selection of items, interesting selection of sandwiches
After searching for a coffee shop and a bakery for a long time on a Saturday morning we stumbled upon this little restaurant / cafe / store. Great selection of tasty sandwiches and pastries.
Love ths place. Always buzzing on Saturday mornings. Arrive early before the croissants sell out. Almondine are the best.
Great to find places with great brunch
The croissants are amazing.
(Translated) Fantastic! (Original) Fantastique!
I really like this place. Smoked salmon sandwich was great and the asparagus soup was also delish.
Great pastries! You have to try the Tarte au Citron. Really good expresso too, I had the feeling to be in France for a moment! Thank you so much
Great staff, great ambience and really, really great food! Can't wait to come back!
L'Auberge is our go to spot in Belleville. Delicious food and great service
Loved the ambience and food. The peach tart and the tomato soup deserve special mention
Lovely little cafe serving great food, coffee, and, in the summer, ice cream. Try the freshly baked croissants on Saturdays!
Review from a Parisian, born and raised. My wife brought me here, I should have read reviews before. All negative reviews are correct. Add this : croissants are disgusting, croutons in their cesar salad are soaked with oil, and dont take the duck poutine it's a tiny portion of fries, a couple pieces of cheese and a couple chunks of duck... For 16 bucks ??!!?!! Deco is nice, but who care when the food is so gross ? Message to the owner : tu ferais mieux de changer le nom de ton resto, tu fais honte au pays tout entier.
This local gem is the perfect spot for a delicious Saturday morning breakfast!
I visited L'Auberge de France for an after lunch dessert/snack and it was absolutely delicious. This is a cute little spot that is great for a summertime date and I would highly recommend. Delicious treats and always amazing service.
This is a Parisian cafe in the middle of our town. Worth a visit for good coffee, desserts, fresh croissants and french sandwiches
This is a hidden gem of Belleville. We were on our way to Montreal and decided to see what was in town for lunch and found this place downtown in this small city. I wasn't expecting a little French bistro in a town like this, but it was a pleasant surprise. All the food was fresh and delicious, and the service was good. It looks like they do a pretty steady business too, which I'm glad to see since I hope this little place sticks around for a while in case I ever find myself traveling through again.
Saturday croissants are a must. Great place for lunch alao
First discovered this gem in September when they participated in the post porchfest downtown restaurant event. Warm, friendly atmosphere, great music that allowed for conversation. Good wine and food and the charcuterie was the best we have ever had, and at a great price. Went back a week later for lunch. Great fresh quiche made in house with a salad. Fresh sandwiches and soup were also available. Great prices and friendly staff. Open kitchen which is fun to watch and filled with great smells. Will be back again and again...
Cozy warm atmosphere with down home casual service and great French menu c/w decadent pastries and French imports. Not cheap but worth the experience.
If you're missing an actual, proper, authentic croissant and a good cappuccino this is where you need to go. Being an ex-pat Québécoise let me tell you how hard it is to find a decent patisserie this side of the provincial line. Revel in this indulgence because it is few and far between in Ontario.
Best in the city. They go above and beyond to make sure their guests have a wonderful experience. Appetizing lunch choices and delicious desserts serviced in a nicely decorated french bistro. Be sure to reserve a seat at their chef's table events before they sell out or on Saturday's for fresh homemade french croissants and baked goods! A must visit.
Great place for a break from life, food is worth the price!
A very nice place to have lunch, freshly daily made bread
Great little spot. Reliably delicious food. Espresso.
Good food and very nice staff
I just recently discovered this bistro, and I cant get enough. Its absolutely unreal how peaceful it is here. And the food is incredible. I definitely found my spot!
Fantastic local business located in downtown Belleville. Desserts and sandwiches are made in house and will leave you wanting more. The atmosphere is very inviting. Two of the best features are Saturday croissant day and also the monthly chef table. Have been to two of these events and am always surprised with how perfect everything is from the food to the service.
Gives Belleville some caché. Excellent selection of european fine pastries, home made foods etc. Great vibe, excellent coffees, perfect to take out food, nice patio, good service. Loved it !
Immersive atmosphere, great sandwiches and other French goodies. Perfect place for lunch but beware it gets super busy and may take a while to get food! Limited menu during the week. Saturday is the best day to go.
Great French bistro! Great coffee! Great croissant on Saturday mornings!
Great food!
Nice cafe except for the lady making the special coffees. They need a new barista to make coffees. Every time we go there, the coffee is so hot, we burn our mouth, and have to wait a long time for it to cool before drinking it. It always tastes burned, every time, whether it's lattes or Cappacinos etc. Sometimes they forget we are even there, and wait 10-20 min for a coffee, when there are NO other customers waiting for coffees. They actually did forget one time, they told me! It's always the same older lady who doesn't seem to know what she is doing at all and it brings the cafe down. Even when she's on the till, she mixes up things . If she worked for me, she'd be gone, and we've run a cafe before, so know a bit of what I'm talking about. We will be going to the other cafe downtown Belleville for our coffee now. I must say though, the Sat morning croissants with almonds are superb!
The restaurant has always been very noisy so it is not a good spot for visiting with friends. You have to order at the counter and the service was still very slow for beverages. It is not friendly and welcoming. The broccoli in the broccoli salad was over-cooked. I had the tuna sandwich and now I have an upset stomach ???? Not my favourite. Next time I will meet my friends after lunch.
Fresh food , good service
The first thing I noticed when walking in is the rooster theme!! Great care into making sure that quality is delivered in every dish. The smoked salmon on charcoal bread is grand, the coffee blend is amazing and the desserts are all grand! Lovely little gem downtown Belleville.
This place is the best! Love the food, love the staff :)
Great selection
An excellent bistro for a great French meal, coffee, or pastries. If you're near Belleville it's worth a stop, and the staff are fantastic.
Seriously good. They clearly take pride in what they serve. The food is fantastic.
I liked the restaurant. And food was good especially the squash soup!
Great food. Fast service.
Awesome food and ambiance. A real gem for Belleville.
Great food and atmosphere
Loved this cafe. Nice design and great food. Sandwiches were great baguette brie very fresh and good quality.
First time visiting this darling restaurant. Sat on patio. The food was delicious and the homemade fries were to die for. Their french lemonade was refreshing and the iced latte was very good. Desserts looked luscious.
This cafe has been the best thing that ever happened to me. The roast beef sandwich was a god send. Thank you for the absolute pleasure of eating here
OMG What a fantastic place! Tasty - Extremely Tasty sandwiches and desserts!! (I absolutely had to do takeout)
Hands down best local restaurant in belleville
As close to France as one can get. Awesome to have this restaurant here. We have eaten here many times, and also do takeout for croissants and bread. The only downside is service and payment for food can be very slow. Worth going here for sure.
Best food in Belleville; very friendly and efficient staff. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended. Try it forcyourself. Also look out for the monthly Chef's table usually on a friday evening but must book or you will be disappointed.
Good cappuccino, proper setup, excellent lunch options
Excellent food, very nice place, and good service
This review is a couple of months overdue. I would like to really thank Rebecca for the amazing charcuterie board she made and delivered for my friend’s birthday. It was perfect and very much enjoyed! Truly appreciate all your hard work to make this happen for us!
Very friendly staff n kind..food is bonne
Incredible croissants made fresh for Saturday!!
Wanted to love it and have a great place to get a proper croissant in the Belleville/PEC area, but that is not what this is. Discovered them online and preordered a bunch of croissant/chocolate croissants etc. today for the family. Croissants are kind of doughy, and not very flaky, more like an all-butter croissant from Walmart. I suspect they buy them pre-made from an industrial factory, or at a minimum buy the pre-made dough. Given that, we ended up cutting some in half and toasting them, which definitely improved them. Also, we got one raisin pastry, and I believe the raisins were off, as they tasted like vinegar, almost like they were beginning to ferment or something. Very nice store, however, with some nice imported goods. The patio looked pretty busy for a Saturday morning, and they had some nice looking sandwiches etc., but won't be back for the pastries/croissants. Better off buying the frozen ones from Costco and baking our selves.
Great customer service and attention to detail. They made me feel as if I were the only customer.
So tasty!!
Excellent breakfast sandwich, fresh baked croissants and breads make this a must visit on Saturdays!
Just had the best cappuccino and smoked salmon on a croissant. Great service and atmosphere.
Excellent quality
Friendly, fast service. They recommended a lovely wine for dinner. Steak frits was delicious and the sauce was amazing. I love the lemon tart here, but did not see it on the menu and asked about it. They were kind enough to make up some for us. Excellent restaurant, excellent service. They also offer great sandwiches for lunch.
First time in. Lady gave excellent description of desserts. Purchased a caramel/almond paste mousse, raspberry cake and quiche to take home. All was delicious. Was told they make fresh croissants on Saturdays ????. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic sandwiches
nice place good food nice street to stroll and shop
This place is the real deal. Not sure where else you can get quality like this in Belleville.
Very nice place. It's a must go at least once if you are in the area. Try the chocolate croissant. Arrive early. Doors normally open at 0900hrs. Look on the web for their operating hours. Cheers. Steeve
Was in with my son recently to have lunch with his college friends. I was expecting service at the table and was planning on having wine with lunch. Unfortunately you order at the counter from a chalkboard and a display case. Which doesn’t showcase everything well (didn’t see the wine and beer until we were seated and I had coffee ordered) I was the only one to notice there was fries and the person at the till was unsure if they were cooking them at that time of day. I had hoped for a crepe but didn’t see this on the board. The food was delicious and most of the staff friendly. I think they are doing a bakery mixed with dine in but sit down with menus might work better. I would go back but with different expectations.
We had a very nice dinner there. Squash soup and sandwich. Would definitely go again.
Food was great. A nice little French cafe in downtown Belleville.
Always amazing. Quick service and fantastic food
Very classy establishment! This restaurant was warm, inviting and lovely. With both freshly baked dessert options and meals available, a quick visit or a longer stay are both possible. I was impressed with the variety of beverages. There were beer options, coffee and teas, and many others to suit your fancy! A glass display cabinet shows their delicacies with everything from quiche to artisan sandwiches, and the most beautiful desserts. There is a dedicated table seating area as well as a small cafe seating area near the front - reminiscent of a French café! There was also, surprisingly, a bar where guests were seated sipping a draft! What a well rounded place! Nice music was playing in the background. Several people came in for a "to go" bite and others came in with a newspaper to enjoy a coffee in peace. The lemon tarte was delicious and sweet. The waitress was lovely. I noticed a sign on the wall that advertises a fixed price meal experience. At 45 dollars, this seemed to me a great idea! I will absolutely be back.
The finest bistro cuisine one can find in France right in Belleville, Ontario.
Bread, sandwiches and the croissants are excellent! They also have European products that you can’t find elsewhere. All the family loved it!
Sweet people served up a sweet and delicious homemade dessert. My waistline said, "No!"...but all my senses said, "YES!!!"...my sense obviously won that debate! And so very worth it!
Adorable little bistro with great food. Love it here.
Very friendly staff. This place is great service was quick and food was delicious. The make great croissants they melt in your mouth. The menu has a great selection to choose from . I have only has croissant and lunches and Every time they have been scrumptious. I even buy the croissants to take home. I would definately rec this rest to friendly and family. Two thumbs up!!
A quaint little place with excellent food and delicious homemade ice cream in the summer time. I always get the smoked salmon sandwich and it's delicious. Great assortment of takeaway foods as well. I got some after I had my daughter and they were so good.
Love the friendly environment and wonderful food. Have done an excellent job during the pandemic making us feel safe! Amazing Saturday morning fresh croissants, bread all week and yummy desserts.
Best smoked salmon sandwich ????
Favourite place in the area - premium prices but great food, unreal service, and unique selections. The cheeses and sandwiches are must try’s
Don't eat there, food is as bad as it gets and staff is deplorable. My glass was dirty and when I ask for a new glass they brought a dirtier one !?!? My wife got food poisoning... I dont get why there so many good review, probably bought them.
Great little restaurant
I've become addicted to their coffee roast! The roast beef sandwich is my favourite, with close seconds not far behind! Both before and during the pandemic, their croissants have been a highlight for the family. Their chef dinners, both in-house and to-go have yet to disappoint! Bon appetit!
First discovered this gem in September when they participated in the post porchfest downtown restaurant event. Warm, friendly atmosphere, great music that allowed for conversation. Good wine and food and the charcuterie was the best we have ever had, and at a great price.
Such a hidden gem in the heart of Belleville! Marc and Sheranda are so welcoming, the atmosphere is warm and the food is divine.
First time for lunch today. Great food. Fast friendly efficient staff. Definitely recommend and would frequent for sure next time we are in Belleville.
Stopped in for take out on Saturday lunch. The staff were run off their feet, but they were all pleasant, helpful, welcoming. The bread for my roast beef and brie was perfect - crisp crust with soft bread. Generous serving size.
A little taste of France in the downtown. Belleville is luck to have such a high quality authentic French bistro. The food is amazing, the drinks are great and the staff very pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Wish I'd gotten there earlier in the day to get some of their bread, but I went in just before close. Had a good Americano and the store itself had a great variety of gourmet items. The woman working behind the counter(s) was very friendly too.
Wonderful little French bakery and cafe in old downtown Belleville. Lemon tarts to die for.
A great place for croissants but they only have them on Saturdays. Usually very good sandwiches but their smoked salmon, eggs Benedict croissant was a little disappointing as they replaced the usual topping capers with red bell pepper which did not work. Their decaf cappuccino is incredible!
Where is the SIX-Star possibility ?! Almost every Saturday I come here to buy fresh bread and tasty croissants and/or delicious breakfast sandwich together with a double espresso. And sometimes some wine (red or white) to enjoy with dinner. I highly recommended this place. Must try.
Everything they serve is so fresh, and is some of the tastiest homemade food I've ever had. It is a little more expensive, but I expect to pay a little extra in order to receive such high quality foods made with fresh sourced ingredients.
Quaint, in a good way.
I saw a chef drop a food item on the ground and say 'good thing nobody saw that' as he picked it up and then made eye contact with me and his expression turned mortified... Lol. It has jaded my opion of their food. 3xs cause great atmosphere and Americanos.
Small little cafe with great desserts and lunch time selections. Freshly made pastries and more. It's a nice break from chain cafes and definitely a must-go to stop if you're in downtown Belleville.
Fresh, unique dishes and sandwiches with homemade bread and others like home smoke ham! Great place to start into the day as well as for lunch
Excellent always enjoy
Very nice staff, delicious food and their soup is a must try.
Disappointed to drive all the way here to find it closed when everything shows it as opened for takeout.
Local, made in-house. Amazing selection of specialty products.
Love their frozen entrees. Fine French cuisine at home. Magnifique!
Excellent food and service!!
Awesome place! I stopped in this morning for the first time today. Breakfast croissant, pecan croissant and Americano all amazing, can’t wait till the next time I’m in town to stop in again. If I lived in Belleville I’d be there everyday
What a find! This is one of the best places in Belleville. More people should know about it.
Especially great on the weekends, but get there as early as possible. Not so impressive on a weekday morning.
Love the wonderful Chef here...He is absolutely amazing...His food is the best!!! Love the selections, great treats too!!!

Authentic Paris feel. Fresh ingredients. Excellent quality. Friendly staff. Enjoyed the Croque Messier sandwich and heritage tomato salad.
Coffee great, bought almond and chocolate croissant. Older blonde server, rude and indifferent when the croissant was saturated with marzipan and basically said take it as is that's the way it comes. When we are trying to shop local and you meet that rude indifference you start to wonder why make the effort. A little staff retraining in politeness might be a good start.
Magnificent. The soup is delicious. The sandwiches and pastries are fantastic. The tea? I can only say that it is an abiding shame on all English folk in Ontario that this French cafe in Belleville makes the best pot of tea this side of Penzance. It does get ludicrously busy at lunch time on the weekend and their comical table numbering system can lead to lines forming, but it is certainly with the wait.
Food is great and staff are wonderful
We enjoyed the food and beverages, would have given 5 stars except we were very disappointed and concerned regarding their Covid-19 safety measures. The worker touched communal objects, our drinks and our food with bare hands. We didn’t see any hand washing or sanitizing of the payment machine in between customers. Good cafe but we felt uncomfortable here.
Great local place for authentic French lunch and dinner (occasional dinner events such as a monthly Chef's Table). Weekly fresh baked French bread and croissants on Saturday Morning.
Great lunch
Very delicious sandwiches and deserts. I will have to try the croissants when they are in stock! Pre order would probably be recommended as they seem to always be out when I go.
Enjoyed a fabulous grilled sandwich and soup and great conversation with friends on our lunch hour.
Amazing food everytime.
The chocolate crossiants are amazing!
Cozy place for a coffee..fantastic chocolate/ almond croissants on Saturday morning
great staff
Best place for brunch in Belleville. They have a nice patio outside that you can chill too. I got iced latte, chocolate croissant, ham swiss sandwich, and vegeterian quiche. Excellent selection and I had no complaints. Highly recommend !
When my lover and I decided to marry we determined that we would share it with our children and grandchildren and one other couple to act as witnesses. Because there were only 18 of us we happened upon L'Auberge de France when searching for a place to have a quiet dinner. After seeing a few menu samples and discussing with Marc and Sheranda we decided that L'Auberge de France was the place. We were a tough crowd - two chefs, another whose hobby is cooking, one trained in quantity cooking, one restaurant manager, one with severe food allergies, one who is Celiac and two vegans. The ages ranged from 10 to 67. Marc prepared specific meals for the people with special dietary needs that not only suited them, but also used the same foods that every one else was eating. These people did not feel singled out or left out because their meals were served with ours, looked like ours and when given a taste I wished that I had chosen that meal. We all chose one from each of the three selections offered for each course and watched as they were prepared (the chefs and restaurant manager with great interest and appreciation for the style and flair with which it was done). The service was correctly done, with perfect timing between courses to allow the savoury flavours of each course to be discussed and appreciated before the next exquisite offering was presented. And each was excellent. The guinea fowl was sweet and flavourful, the beef tenderloin perfectly prepared and contrasted neatly with the scalloped potato au gratin, allowing the flavours to renew as each bite was replaced with the next. Everyone wanted everyone else's dessert because as each reached the table it looked better than the one before and as each was tasted the appreciative sounds stopped conversation until all were finished. The wines were well chosen and paired very well with all meals - whether with the beef, guinea fowl or pickerel. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the following day the individual with celiac called to praise the L'Auberge, not only for the flavour and presentation of its meal, but also because for the first time she was not required to examine the menu for things that she had to avoid because Marc had prepared her meal specifically for her and to be like everyone else's meal making her feel included in the group. The staff at L'Auberge was helpful, considerate and knowledgable. Everyone left praising the meal, the service and the atmosphere. I recommend L'Auberge de France to everyone.
Euro atmosphere with food complementing it.
Food is excellent. Their service is awkward. Busy place they require you to go to the cashier to order. Came back to our table people threw our stuff on the floor and took the table.
Really good food.
Really good mochas!
