This was the worst food I have ever had! the meatballs were from frozen and were very pale like turkey meatballs. The pasta sauce was flavourless and tasted like it was from a can, the garlic bread was stale! It is by no means authentic Italian food and definitely not comfort food. Go to the Italian Eatery in park place or the Italian Bakery on Wellington, they have authentic Italian food.

I was recently craving Italian food and had heard that he does everything from scratch, So I decided to go and check it out, And I was Definitely not disappointed ... I had the Caesar Salad as my appetizer and was in formed by the lovely waitress that he makes the dressing in house from scratch, Best dressing I have had and I go once a week to buy it as he sells it by the jar/container! And best part he uses real bacon... For my main course I had the Fettuccine Alfredo (which he also made from scratch) ... I was soo happy that I decided to order that as my main dish it was Amazing!! My Son order a poutine and they where fresh cut fries .. (Not Frozen) and he layered the gravy and cheese and for my son's main course he had his personal pizza and my son said it was the best pizza he has had! (Ps. I tryed a bite and he was not lying) ... The staff there is amazing, The restaurant is always clean and Food portions are amazing... I had left overs ... I can go on about ZIO'S ITALIAN COMFORT FOOD RESTAURANT... But All I will say is go in and try it You will not be disappointed!!!! Thank Giancarlo...

Tasty! Chicken parm was nice and crispy, and the red sauce was thick and tasted like it’s been simmering all day. Also really enjoyed the house ceasar dessing which carried that bit of a garlic punch, a little goes a long way.

Can't wait to return. Kids had pizza and loved it so much. I had a meatball sandwich and husband had veal sandwich. We shared bites of everything and we were all super happy with the food. The place was cozy and clean but food was average. For example, if you order garlic bread, you will get four slices of walmart white bread toasted with some garlic spread. Fries were non-crispy and kinda burnt. But it's just value for money. You get what you pay for.

Have just finished another delightful meal from this fantastic restaurant. I come here at least twice a month for a very speacial treat. I’m a very picky eater, but yet this place has everything a picky person would need. The cook, service and food are truly amazing. If you want a warm and happy home cooked Italian meal, you’ll be sure to get it here!! My favourite part about going to Zio’s is the food!!! Pastas, Pizzas, Salads, and more. It fills you up like no tomorrow. I can’t thank the cook enough for taking his time to personally ask me what I wanted to eat, and then making sure that I got what I wanted. Now I feel like family. I can’t wait to go back!!!

I took a chance during the lockdown to order a nice meal. I wanted GOOD pizza. Skip the dishes suggested Zios but Trip Advisor is the bottom line. Seems everyone feels as I. Amazing taste, quality and care I'd expect sitting in the restaurant. One of the recent comments suggested Caesar Salad so i ordered it with my pizza.

Went to zio's on a whim. It sounded good online. However, the food was less then appetizing. We had the bruschetta and chicken Alfredo. The bruschetta was made with stale bread, and the Alfredo, was drowned in sauce that a grainy texture to it. The only thing edible was the salad. We were over charged by 15 dollars and didn't realize until after we had left. The woman claimed she had given us the wrong Bill, and upon driving back and returning to the restaurant, was quite rude and offered no apology for her mistake. The food was very overpriced and to be honest, disgusting.

I ate here late one weeknight. There was some sort of karaoke bingo thing going on. No big deal except that the bingo guy was loud, and they would only play about 30 seconds of each song, and there was only maybe 6 other people in the whole restaurant. I had the gnocchi with meat sauce. They were just OK. I am sure they were pre-made, like the kind you can buy vacuum packed at the grocery store. The meat sauce was pretty good though. All in all it was not as authentically Italian as I would have liked.

Simply my favourite restaurant in Barrie. The food is amazing! I have brought numerous friends and family to this restaurant and am never disappointed. Everytime I go I am welcomed and made to feel like family. Do not hesitate to go to this establishment, everything I have had on the menu is great. My Favourites: Chicken Parm, Sausage and Peppers, Panzo with Sausage and Olives. Caesar Salad, and the tomato salad are excellent as well. My wife loves the Chicken Sandwich with peppers. I am going to try that next time.

Had the chicken parm sandwich with fries from Zio’s. Definitely close to old school style of home cooking from northern Italy. The meal was warm and tasty, fries where perfect and the portion was a good size, my only one complaint is the price was a little steep at $17 for a sandwich… other then that I’d go back for another sandwich!

My father came up from Alberta to visit us and we just had to bring him to Zio’s, it was safe to say he loved everything from the starters to espresso after dinner. They make you feel so welcomed and like family when you are there. I can easily say this place serves amazing food and its good to the very last drop! Great Italian food and personalized service by Giancarlo and staff. He takes great pride in his ingredients and menu offerings. I have recommended this restaurant to several other friends and each one has agreed with my degree of satisfaction. Giancarlo has “personalized” his dishes to my taste and is pleased to have an appreciative customer. We are regular customers and have always been completely satisfied. This a family business the many pictures reflect that fact. Kudos to Rosa, Dora and Angela for their helpful advice, recommendations and friendly service.

The food here is amazing. I had Cesar salad which was light and crunchy, and baked penne with blush sauce. Absolutely fantastic, I can't remember ever having such delicious pasta at a restaurant. Both people I was with loved their meals too! And to top it off, they have the most friendly staff and the owner is awesome! Lovely place, I'd recommend to anyone mildly into Italian food. Ordered dinner here and was not impressed. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and a friend ordered wings and fries we also did an order of garlic toast. The pasta was ok, but the garlic toast was very bland, no taste to it at all. Friend said wings were good but the fries were not good at all and only ate a handful of them. Was hoping for a great experience since I've heard good things about this restaurant but I definitely won't be back.

I hate to have to leave this review... but I feel I must. Today I got a pick up order of pasta and I was a little put off by seeing a large breed dog in their kitchen. I decided not to say anything and just get my food and go. Unforunately upon eating the small portion for $24 dollar pasta with chicken dish, about 2 hours later my stomach started hurting very badly and I had to go to the toilet (if you know what I mean....) And the pasta was the only food I was able to eat today because of the stomach ache and bad washroom issues. I'm not sure if it has something to do with a dog being loose in their kitchen but im not too happy. I feel really sick.

Well that was a dud. Heard good things but just got the pasta today and not sure what kind of tomatoes they use but very dark and flavour is off. Noodles were over cooked and just fell apart when you tried to pick them up with a fork. Did not enjoy pasta. Garlic bread was alright though and the owner is super nice. However that pasta is super pricey and not very tasty. I’ll stick to Mondos in Barrie for that kind of pasta

Exactly what I needed after a stressful day. Looks sort of like a diner, but ambiance is more like your grandma's kitchen. Went with my fiance, he had caesar salad and manicotti, I had lasagna and cheesy garlic bread. Everything homemade and delicious! The lasagna had boiled egg and peas in it, which I'd never heard of before but tasted delicious. Plenty of meat in the bolognese sauce. The dish it was baked in kept it hot all the way through - I had to blow on my last bite to cool it down!

I visited this establishment with my work colleague, we had the Veal Sandwich with Fries, the veal was undesirable to say the least, very tough, all nerve endings, fries were not cooked properly, the owner was wearing a cut off shirt with track pants, , unprofessional, we will never go back again, hard to believe this place has a good rating, perhaps his family and friends should be a bit more honest in their reviews.

Had a veal sandwich recently. The bun was a let down (focaccia or panini would have been appreciated), but the veal was freshly made (crisp breading, and very thin), and the mixed veggies on top were amazing! They were obviously fried specifically for the sandwich, and were done just long enough to soften the peppers and onions, but neither were mushy as is often the case in this type of sandwich ????!

Had the chicken sandwich. With all the fixings. Amazing. Not greasy. Cooked to perfection. Great taste. Great sauce. All authentic Italian style made. Couldn't breathe after it was that filling. I didn't need the fries. Definetly return to try other menu items.

The best italian food place. They are amazing!!!! Went tonight with the family. The food is fresh and delicious, the costumer service is awesome. Very friendly people. We loved nonna, she is so nice. We will for sure come back more often. We had chicken ceaser salad and veal sanduiche.

We wanted to come here for a while and finally had the opportunity. Zio's is a very nice restaurant. We had the lassagna meal, the noodles were home made it was delicious. It came with a side salad, I choose the tomato, onion and bococcini that was very nice and well dressed. We also had the penne with sausage although that pasta was not home made it was also very good. I gotta say it is probably a bit pricey. The owner/hostess is very friendly and charming and made our dinning experience very pleasant. If I could suggest one thing though is that they need to change the music in the background maybe some classic Italian music would be better for the overall atmosphere. We will definitely be back and try more dishes.

We have eaten there 3 or 4 times. It is the best Italian food that I have had. There is plenty of it and served hot. You will not walk away hungry, but you will probably have enough for lunch the next day. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had lunch here on Friday really good food. I had pasta picante and my friend had the real sandwich. Biggest Italian sandwich I've seen in town and, this one came with fries. The fries were custom-made. Everything was delicious. The only thing missing was some soft music in the background. It was too quiet

Worst service in all of barrie.. An elderly women who said she was owners mother physically assaulted me twice, and was verbally abusive. There was no other customers to witnesses. I was just waiting for my partner who works for a big company down the road and went to use the bathroom because I wasnt ready to order. I have some it on recording. I may report it to the police. Has anybody else expirenced something like this at Zio's?

Great Italian food and personalized service by Giancarlo and staff. He takes great pride in his ingredients and menu offerings. I have recommended this restaurant to several other friends and each one has agreed with my degree of satisfaction. Giancarlo has “personalized” his dishes to my taste and is pleased to have an appreciative customer. We are regular customers and have always been completely satisfied. This a family business the many pictures reflect that fact. Kudos to Rosa, Dora and Angela for their helpful advice, recommendations and friendly service. I recommend highly. Went for dinner. Very good food, no question there. Personalized table service was very good and server was very kind to introduce the restaurant and it's history, which was interesting. However, general atmosphere does no justice to the business. Loud TV with people switching channel often, guests with very loud cell phone ringing and commercial radio talking show as music background. But food was good...

Driving across Canada from Rocky Mountain House AB. The motel we stayed at recommended this place. It was wonderful, delicious Caesar salad, with home made dressing! Talked to the owner's parents, very friendly and welcoming. So glad we stopped by!
