I would really love to give this place a 5 star but here’s why I didn’t! My husband and I came here last night (Valentines Day), now, we were prepared to be waiting a little bit for food because we totally understand it’s Valentine’s Day and everywhere is busy. We had a reservation at 7:30, got seated and ordered almost immediately. We ordered a starter of Bruschetta and two entrees, one was chicken parmesan and the other was carbonara. I would first like to say the food was delicious and fresh. It’s not to often you get your plate at a restaurant and it’s steaming hot, BUT it took almost 40 mins to get us our Bruschetta and then another 40 mins to get us our entrees. I don’t know how many times two different waitresses said “it should be out any second”. Now, we didn’t complain once because we were trying to be very patient because of the day it was but near the end we were getting a bit frustrated. Mainly because there were people who came in after us and had their appetizers and entrees already. That being said, we were offered desert on the house but we kindly declined because we were getting tired and didn’t want to wait another 20 mins for it. We didn’t leave until 9:15pm. It’s very unfortunate because we were very excited to try this restaurant. It is a nice cozy hidden gem in downtown Barrie but you do have to be prepared to be there for an hour and a half I guess. Maybe we should try it again on a less busy night?

I tried their Skillet Mac and Cheese with bacon last night. WOW! I was absolutely delicious! Huge portion. Staff were super and friendly! Will definitely be ordering this dish again, it was so so good. Thanks for the delicious food Limoncello! :)

Great service, atmosphere and of course, the food. Nice selection of pasta, pizza, appetizers and more. Our party had the Olive Tapenade pizza, the mini rice balls (not so mini), penne with vodka sauce and the Eggplant Tower. Generous portions and great flavour and texture. We will be back.

We went to dinner on a Friday night with my family. Service was amazing, they made my 3 year old nephew a custom pizza. Food is out of this world, extremely authentic and reasonably priced, we will definitely be going back for more!

Wow, I took my family here last night and we had an amazing experience! Incredible food, and it has a really nice atmosphere. Limoncello Bistro is easily our “go to” spot now.

We made a reservation. Some nights they are fully booked. Attentive service. The ambiance could be improved by changing the music and dimming the lights a touch. The food was very good, huge portions and you can tell it is made in house! We had the veal and the gnocchi, both were superb. So much gnocchi I had it for lunch the next day and was full, again! Homemade cannolis for dessert were delicious too. Thanks Limoncello, we enjoyed!

I have ordered from this outstanding restaurant so many times, but this time I ordered through skip the dishes and the driver mishandled my order so badly that it was inedible. When I called the restaurant they were so kind and apologetic even though the mistake wasn’t theirs. The owner personally drove to my house to bring me my order as well as some complimentary dessert. Easy to say I’m so impressed with this wonderful establishments service and amazing food. ????????

Excellent food and quaint ambience. Immediately when I opened the door the smell of garlic was wafting out! I loved it at first but eventually by the end of dinner it was starting to sting my eyes because of the lack of air extraction. Service was pretty good and the tables were a little tight between but that gave it that charm and intimacy. Healthy portions and the mussels were amazing but I wish it came with bread to soak up all that yummy sauce! Overall I would recommend this restaurant for a small party and intimate dinner. Prices are reasonable and food was delicious. I will definitely be back again.

A business colleague recommended this place so we had to go check it out. The cozy atmosphere the friendly staff and the heavenly sight, smell and taste of our pizza truly made us feel like we were back in Italy. This tiny, cozy Italian food spot it's been open for about 2 years and we have just discovered now! And so glad we did. Super simple decor inside and they also have a patio for the warmer days. Ok, food: We ordered the "mini" rice balls as a starter to our surprise not too mini at all LOL we got 4 almost as big as a tennis ball (well not that big but pretty close) rice balls cooked to perfection drenched in a delicious red sauce and a side of warm toasty bread. Sorry I missed taking a picture of this dish. For main we ordered the Smoked Mac n Cheese, this dish was a serious blend of flavors and gooey goodness, hands down the best mac n cheese we have tried yet. The smoked bacon is the key ingredient here. Definitely a must try. It comes in a cast iron pan boiling hot so be careful, also the portion is HUGE so it would be perfect for sharing too. We also had the Sacchetti, this dish was very good as well, this is a pasta that looks like a ravioli but bigger with gorgonzola cheese sauce yumminess. We tried the mussels as well, very good red sauce and the mussels cooked perfectly. For dessert we shared the strawberry cheese cake (we actually took it to go), also, very tasty. The service was impeccable, Caresa our waitress and hostess was delightfully friendly. Also we got to meet the sous-chef sorry I forgot her name ^^ but she was very nice and told us the history of the building. We will definitely visit again. Grazie!

Enjoyed discovering this recent addition to the Barrie restaurant scene! If you are looking for ambience and great cuisine, try Limoncello Bistro on Maple Ave. If you are lucky you will have Robin as your server. Lovely warm bread starter, a very large portion of lasagne, great wine and your evening will be complete! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will return.

So first comes a great new Italian restaurant in Barrie, then comes Covid 19, then comes the City if Barrie downtown improvement blocking this gem from Dunlop Street. Had take out tonight that was truly outstanding. I come from Hamilton that has an abundance of Italian heritage. Limoncello has got to survive. You have to eat here!

Last night was our first time ordering from Limoncello and WOW! I wish we had ordered from here sooner. The food was absolutely amazing. We had the bruschetta and meatballs to start. The bruschetta was the best bruschetta I have ever had, so flavourable and fresh. We then had Osso Bucco and Eggplant Tower for our mains... they were fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food for take out and cannot wait to dine in once the lockdowns are over for the full experience.

It was our first time dinning in Limoncello as we are always ordering to go! It’s the cutest little spot with the most amazing food LITERALLY. their pizza is to die for. IT WAS FIRE!! The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. New to Barrie, thought we'd try going out for Italian cuisine, based on the good reviews we chose Limoncello Bistro. What a disappointment! What we ordered: Caprese - tomato was so hard and from being ripe/juicy (although they are out of season they should not be offered on the menu if the quality is not there), tiniest bit of the least fresh "bufala" cheese in between the slices of tomato and topped with what seemed to be powdery parmigiano. Inferno Pizza - completely undercooked!! Linguine Siciliani - tasty sauce, ok amount of seafood, completely over cooked pasta and an italian sin.... they break the linguine in half. For an "authentic" Italian place, they should know that is a big no no. Super nice staff, but I'd recommend elsewhere for Italian food in Barrie.

The food was delicious with enormous serving sizes. We all took home leftovers. The service was excellent and attentive without being a nuisance. I like the way the kitchen is open to the public so that all processes are revealed. The chef is well trained and accommadating for any changes needed in the menu. We will definitely return for another gastronomic adventure.

Ordered pickup and we were told it would be ready by 7:15pm. We went in 5 minutes early and were told they didn't even start making our order yet. There were tons of people sitting and waiting for their orders in the resturant. Finally at about 7:45pm we got a call letting us know the food was ready. We were starving by the time we got home only to be disappointed with the food. We ordered 2 pasta dishes and a pizza. The pasta dishes were bland and the pasta was inconsistent. The pizza was as hard as cardboard with no flavor. Overall a very disappointing experience. I won't be going back

SUPER disappointed! :( I'm a resident of Barrie who has been supporting Limoncello Bistro throughout the pandemic via takeout and their food is EXCELLENT!!! My first in-person dining experience took place this past Saturday. I had 3 girlfriends visiting from out of town and I was excited to expose them to the food at Limoncello Bistro. Upon arrival for our 7:00pm reservation, we noticed how tight the seating layout was. There are too many tables, which at full capacity, would likely be a concern if we had to evacuate due to an emergency such as a fire. The hostess and a staff member from the kitchen had to move a couple of tables to accommodate our table/seating area and the staff member from the kitchen was not wearing a mask. Neither were a few other members of the kitchen during our visit. We placed an order for the Chianti, which is the only Italian wine sold by the glass on the menu, only to find out that they didn't have any in stock and a staff member was on their way to the LCBO to purchase more bottles. The server asked if we wanted to wait until the staff member returned from the LCBO or if we would prefer to order a different type of wine. We chose to wait, however, after 25 minutes, the staff member hadn't returned from the LCBO so we placed an order for a different type of wine. It was rather disappointing that on a Saturday night the restaurant wasn't stocked with an Italian wine by the glass. The Burrata is a popular item on the menu, one of which we were anxious to try ourselves. We asked our server if they had any available that evening and she told us they had 2 left so we ordered 1 of them. Our server returned not long after and told us that the Chef checked the last of the 2 Burrata's and they'd both gone bad. :| One of us is intolerant to gluten and when we asked our server what they had that evening in way of gluten free pasta, she told us that they didn't have any and that requests for gluten free pasta need to be made in advance. At minimum, this information should be noted on the restaurant's website and when placing dinner reservations, this should be a question asked by the staff when booking reservations. That said, we were shocked that a restaurant in this day in age doesn't a) have gluten free pasta on hand and b) does not list any of the main allergens on their menu. One of us ordered the summer salad as their main entrée and when it arrived at the table, we noticed 1 small slice of a peach in the salad. Just one slice, and this ingredient wasn't listed on the menu. It so happens that the person who ordered this salad has an anaphylactic allergy to peaches. We waited for our server to return to our table to check on our meals and to confirm that we were pleased with everything, but she never did. Once we finished our meals, I approached the hostess and asked her to have our server return to our table ASAP. When our server returned to our table, we showed her the peach slice and the untouched salad and explained the situation. She apologized, took the slice of peach away and said she would go speak to the Chef right away. That was the end of it! The server never came back to acknowledge what had transpired, nor did a Chef come by our table to apologize and explain. And finally, there does not seem to be any ventilation in the restaurant. Our eyes were burning, watering, swollen and red from whatever was being cooked in the kitchen. Looking around the restaurant, other patrons were experiencing the same thing. One of us had to stop eating their main halfway through dinner, leave the restaurant and wait in the car while the rest of us rushed to finish up our meal. We even heard one of the servers complaining that she could barely see her eyes were so affected by the lack of ventilation. All in all, a really disappointing dining experience. I had such high hopes and really wanted to support Chef Francesco and his partner Maeghan. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to dine in the restaurant.

The house salad was terrible, the leaves were going brown. The spaghetti and meals balls were horrific. Canned tomatoe sauce. The meat balls were cold and overcooked on the outside. Lots of water in the bowl. Two meat balls with the serving. I left 1 and 3/4 of the meat balls and half of the pasta on the plate. They did not even inquire why. I would not recommend that place to anyone.

Limoncello magnifico! Ordered from Limoncello thru Skip the Dishes tonight. (Contactless delivery). It is a fairly new Italian restaurant in Barrie we have been wanting to try for awhile. We were not disappointed! Caesar salad, penne a la vodka and orecchiette with kale and Italian sausage, plus a side of the best meatballs ever! We will easily get 2 to 3 meals from the pasta portions. Everything was delicious, fresh and chef created. Thank you Limoncello and we look forward to visiting in person!

We had a group of 5 and came for dinner around 7 on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was subpar to say the least. Ambience - A pretty small and dimly lit place, brighter in some areas than other, not the greatest honestly but shouldn't matter if the food is good. Service - Waited around 40 minutes or so, service was terribly slow and we weren't informed of the wait. Asked to be served with whatever was ready but even soup took like 40 minutes... Food: ordered like 3 pastas and a pizza. The food was lacklustre, and honestly tasted quite bland even though we all ordered separate things. Honestly thought the chicken soup tasted like a well made baby soup. I think the restaurant warrants like a 3/5 at best. Felt it was severely overrated at 4.8 at the time of visit.

Best Osso Buco Ive ever had. My girlfriend's Seafood pasta was outstanding. We highly recommend this place. Head chef is a great guy too and came out to talk to us. Made us feel at home. He and his wife have a great place.

The food here is sooo delicious and the service is fantastic. Pasta is soooo tasty fresh and the ingredients are spot on. We had the house special Tortellini, the Gnocchi and the Carbonara and each was served piping hot, very generous portions but most importantly, so flavourful - garlic, bacon, parmesan... yum! The pricing is really reasonable. The only downfall is the building is very chilly with the door opening on cold winter nights makes it uncomfortable. It also lacks any atmosphere but that’s not going to stop me from returning!

We went for our anniversary sept 15 , 2020 because we were looking for somewhere different and the reviews were excellent. Well, they didn't dissapoint! The food is excellent and very hardy portions. We had the rice balls and bruchetta for apps, both are a must!!!!! I had the osso bucco and he had the stacked eggplant parm and both were also very very good....go with an empty stomach. We will be back soon!!!

Tried this place out after being tempted by a social media post of theirs for delivery during these quarantine times...Granted I'm a chef myself, and I do have a few years experience in Italian cooking, I didn't feel like cooking last night and was genuinely excited that Barrie had what looks like a legitimately good Italian spot (for a change). The food was pretty disappointing. Plenty warm. But the penne a la vodka was bland and dry. No basil flavor whatsoever to be found in what little sauce there was, and garnished with some nice (dry) parsley to top it off...Carbonara was dry with scrambled eggs - a clear sign of someone lacking the knowledge of how to properly make this dish, or just a send that was botched. But it should never happen. Pizza was pretty mediocre as well. Lightly cooked, which I always think is odd/lazy...I'm sure when everything here goes just right, it's probably pretty good. But this seemed rushed and lacking forethought that the food is traveling. Disappointed overall.

The food is exceptionally delicious. I tried the Linguini with Seafood and Ravioli with Rosè sauce and the Olive Tapenade Pizza for appetizer and everything was great. Thank you Francesco for the experience and definitely will do it again. Cheers ????.

Went in today for a simple Spaghetti and Meatballs.... Have to say best Spaghetti I have ever had... I am excited to try the rest of their food, Staff was friendly and super nice. The inside was welcoming and warm and beautifully decorated. I will defiantly be back --- Great Job guys

What an experience, one that will certainly never going to be repeated. Food was decent but ordering, picking up and paying was a nightmare. Also misinformation about their hours of operation; not opened until 5 pm even though both the website and voicemail claims 4 to 9. Terrible service. food should have been of higher quality for such a master chef.

My wife and I eat at many local restaurants in Barrie and Italian has always been something restaurants in Barrie could never get right. Many Italian restaurants have great appetizers or steak but don't get the pasta or pizza right. Limoncello Bistro is the only one that gets it all right. The salads, pizza and pasta are all outstanding. The carbonara tastes like pasta you get in New York City or Italy. I've only ever had pizza/crust this good at Terroni's in Toronto, a winery in Niagara and New York City. You can tell they care about what they do and Limoncello is now our go-to Italian restaurant in Barrie.

Amazing food!!! Friendly staff! Cozy and quaint little spot. Tons of parking close by. Had to wait a short while for a table for lunch but it was definitely worth the wait! And enjoyed a glass (or two) of wine while we waited. Will definitely be going back to this great little restaurant! HIGHLY recommend!!!

Such a great restaurant in Barrie to enjoy Authentic Italian food! I had the Pesto chicken panini and it was so delicious! I’m not in Barrie often but when I am, I will make a point to go here. The live music was a total bonus as well.

Tried to order lunch today for the office. Website says open 1130-3, 5-10. Facebook says open, skip the dishes says open. We called and vm says to leave the order and they'll call you back. No calls, tried to call them, no answer, go show up....oh were closed and don't do lunch!!! You seriously need to update your website. Second time we've tried to get food from there, should have learned our lesson the first time. I hear the food is good but I'll never know it. Very unprofessional

Good menu selection, lots of vegetarian options! Ordered the eggplant stack and it was the best tasting eggplant dish I have ever had. Waitress was so kind and attentive despite the Saturday night rush, and the kitchen staff had our food out in excellent timing. Amazing Italian Restaurant in the heart of downtown Barrie. Excellent service, and friendly staff. Most importantly the cucina is authentic and Buonissima. I recommend the antipasto mussels, arancini, chicken parmigiana skewers, olive bruschetta pizza, chicken marsala, salmon entre, and eggplant parmigiana tower. Yes we had all of that ????????
