I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! This place is an oasis in the middle of the dessert! I have been living in Canada for 15 years and this is the BEST place ever. I'm a foodie and a picky Mexican... I have tried every single Mexican restaurant (Toronto, gta) and never went back twice to anyone. I ended up just cooking at home.. ! However, yesterday We wanted to give a try to La Cocina mexicana and it was an honour to be there!! The mushroom soup had EPAZOTE (extremely difficult to find in Canada) without this herb .. the soup has another flavour... well It was extremely delicious... I felt at my grandmothers house!! Thank you again for bringing authentic Mexican food to Canada!!!! Canadians this is Mexican food... no Taco Bell or burrito boyz!!! All the best for everyone and God bless the hands of the Chef ❤️

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. I’m originally from Mexico, and it’s not always easy to find food that is authentic, but this place is 100% authentic. On top of the quality of the food, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, even gave us welcome sopes. Their green salsa is perfect, their chilaquiles have the ideal amount of sauce, their sour cream is actual crema, they make their horchata in-house, and their conchas are airy, moist and delicious. 11/10!

Cozy atmosphere and wonderful, authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection and the menu offers a great selection to suit every palate. The staff are absolutely fantastic - they are all so kind and accommodating and very personable. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute at Cocina Mexicana and look forward to our next visit! This is a true gem in Barrie and a must try!

I feel even a single star is being generous, but let me explain… We were a small group, four adults and one toddler. Upon arriving to the restaurant there was one table on the patio, and 2 indoors and pretty quickly they finished leaving just us and one other group on the patio… It was a Tuesday night at 6PM. We were greeted and sat right away, but that’s where the hospitality ended. We ordered a large platter to share for the table, and the older gentleman had to be waved over by us to order again and replenish our drinks but never returned with them. 40 minutes went by until another employee noticed we were kind of looking around. We reordered with him and he said he would check with the kitchen. Add an additional 15-20 minute wait to our previous order we put in and that was 1 whole hour waiting on food. By the time we received it we really just wanted to get out of there, we ate as much as we could and asked for the cheque. By that time the restaurant was EMPTY. Staff were sitting at a table nearby enjoying their break and the older gentleman could be heard talking in Spanish about how we didn’t finish our food (we understood every word by the way). To sum it all up, there were 4 servers, and the amount of tables during our dining experience in the entire establishment never exceeded 3, so this service was just unacceptable. On top of the poor service, the disgusting treatment of paying customers supporting your small business was appalling. I mean if you’re going to talk about customers, do it in the kitchen like a normal restaurant… I will always support “small and local,” but never “rude and ignorant.”

The service was excellent and I really wanted to like this place, but the food was awful. Very, very bland. I could've ate more, it being all you can eat, but knew I'd regret it later. The best part of my meal was the ice cream I had for dessert.

We came from Parry Sound and wanted to try something new. Cocina Mexicana has amazing authentic Mexican cuisine. I had the pozole soup to start and it was so flavourful and comforting. The sopes were very good as well. We tried mole sauce on enchiladas and green enchiladas and it was so good! Tomatillo sauce was delicious. Nice atmosphere, good people and you can tell they really care about the food!

Authentic Mexican food with friendly helpful staff. I appreciated the all-you-can-eat option so I could sample several dishes (and also appreciated that it's made to order and not a self-serve "buffet" style). Also serves all you can eat breakfast, so when you don't feel like standing in line to get a seat with the weekend breakfast hordes, I recommend trying here instead.

Absolutely amazing authentic Mexican food served at your table all you can eat for just 13.99 for lunch, and 18.99 for dinner. I loved how the portion sizes could be customized so you can try everything. Great for sharing at your table with a group. Staff are amazing, friendly, and willing to recommend their favourites. I will be back many times. What a great lunch value.

“All You Can Eat”? more like “All You Can Wait”. We were promptly seated but that’s where the service ended. We were given a bowl of cold chips to start and these two corn flour patties with salsa we didn’t even order. We were left with that for 20 minutes before they even came to take an order (wanting us to fill up on their cheap starters). We finally ordered and it took about 15 minutes for the first two small dishes to come out. We ordered a couple more and I asked for a water refill. He forgot the water and it sat there empty for like 20 minutes (despite their only being like 3 tables to wait on) while he scarfed down a plate of food at the desk in front of everyone. After we ordered for the third time (we only got two tiny plates each time) you could see him starting to get annoyed. We ordered dessert but didn’t feel we’d had anywhere near enough food to justify the overpriced $61 for the two of us so my partner ordered their Caesar salad (shredded burrito lettuce that tasted like fish) and he brought the bill with the salad!???? As if to say, “ok you’re done now” didn’t even ask if we were done. Don’t advertise all you can eat if you’re going to be this cheap. From the dirt cheap starters to fill you up before ordering, to the long wait times in between, to the tiny forks and knives. Everything is designed for you to eat as little as possible for $30.50 each. Won’t be coming back here or recommending this place to anyone. The majority of these reviews are clearly fake because 4.7 stars is not justified by their food or service.

In a word: wonderful! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation, because that's almost the ONLY way to ensure you'll be seated - this restaurant is THAT popular. And it should be. The food is authentic and superb, and the staff is super friendly and fun. My wife, myself, and three of our girls went tonight for our first visit, but it most definitely won't be our last! I think we've found our new favourite place. ????

They won me over! Let's just start by saying... I don't like Mexican food. Until now. Small place and limited parking. But the food... so good. The staff was amazing and not a single person in our group left hungry. Good is cooked to order so everything always arrived at the table hot and fresh. Glutards rejoice! They use corn tortillas. Not much gluten to be found here...lol. See you soon amigos!!!

We really wanted to love this place. We love Mexican food and how can you go wrong with all you can eat? The food tasted good. However the service was EXTREMELY slow and the portions were not worth the $30 per person. We ordered a plate to share for our table of 4 + an infant. We ate it quickly and ordered a second round. After 40 minutes of waiting, we asked the server where our food was. No one could recall us ordering a second round. By the time our food arrived our baby was starting to get fussy and we were just over it. We quickly ate it and asked for our bill. When the older server saw that there was a bit of food left on the plate, he got angry and started talking bad about us to his coworkers in Spanish saying “look at that they couldn’t even finish it”. Little did he know that I’m Hispanic and understood everything he was saying. Between our group it cost $125 (not including drinks/tip,etc.)we didn’t order nearly enough to make up that cost, yet he was extremely angered that our plate had some food still on it. This isn’t how you treat customers supporting your business. We will not be returning to this place despite wanting to support local, as we don’t pay to be disrespected. To the older man: En este país hay muchos latinos, aprende a ser respetuoso con las personas que están apoyando a su negocio. La poca comida que nos dieron en un sistema de “todo lo que pueda comer” no fue perdida para ustedes con los $125.00 que costó el grupo de nosotros.

I have to be honest and speak from the heart this is my home away from home. The staff here are like a second family extremely friendly and will go out of their way to make sure every guest feels welcome and taken care of. I love the food so much i don't know when to stop eating and usually leave regretting my choices. All I have to say is great work guys this is by far the best Mexican restaurant i've ever been to. I highly recomend people try the Elotes a nice seasoned corn on the cob that litterally majes me feel like I'm sitting around the camp fire. Awesome Mexican and all you can eat! I was in heaven. Everything tasted great and they offer a wide variety of salsa to dress everything with. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant is smaller but could seat a decent group of people. It wasn't busy when I went but I can see the place being very busy at lunch or dinner. Some of the most authentic Mexican food I have ever tasted. This place really makes you want to hop on a plane and visit Mexico. It is a super neat concept of all-you-can-eat; giving you the option to try whatever you want for a fair price. Portions are big enough that you can keep ordering a variety of things; or go back for seconds... The waiter offered us to select what we wanted to eat or they offered to bring us out an array of dishes to try. The waiter was very detailed in the history of the dishes and passionate about our experience at their resturaunt. I can't wait to try their breakfast menu and go back for dinner again. Definitely one of my favourite resturaunts. I wish I could rate it higher than five stars.

If it were possible to give Cocina Mexicana more then 5 stars, I would. Their food is absolutely amazing! It is authentic and very flavourful. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is reasonably priced as well. Would recommend the enchiladas and Mexican coffee. Will definitely continue coming here!

My friend lives right across the road from this restaurant and always kept bugging me saying I have to try it out he even made a YouTube video on the restaurant showing what the ambiance is like. I own a 5 star restaurant in downtown Toronto and I have to admit the atmosphere here and service are 5 star quality. You feel so welcome as soon as you come through the door and the staff will go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy and leave content. I am truly happy my friend recommended this place to me and would love to return. Ps. The margaritas and Sangria are out of this world and left me craving more.

Had the most fabulous dinning experience here. My friend and I enjoyed every dish... One low price, all you can eat. Not a buffet but they leave a menu and you order whatever dish you want. The portions are small enough for a taste then on to the next dish. They bring the dishes out one at a time. Everything is always hot. So many great selections, I was impressed. Open six weeks, they will be very popular indeed. Parking will be a future issue. Ole!

Authentic Mexican. Very similar to food I had when eating at a non tourist joint in Mexico. The servers are very attentive. Food prep may take a while if they are under staffed, so dont be in a hurry. Truly all you can eat, you pick the dish and when you are done l, you can order more or something else. Very busy on weekends, a little lighter during the week.

We've never seen such a marvelous idea so we gave it a try and it was very fresh, truly authentic ( I used to live in Mexico ), so the prices and service are the Best!! Aside from a small taco place in Oaxaca Mexico, this place is by the far the best Mexican I have ever had. The fact that it is all you can eat tacos, quesadillas and nachos is a gordito's delight. Add a cold beer to the mix and you're set. It's family owned and the owners are amazing from the initial greeting, to making sure you are doing ok while eating until the very end. Great smiles, good conservations made it feel like it was a family gathering. Highly recommended for taco aficionados.

If you want fast food that served to you by some employee that doesnt care about their job you go to Mcdonalds or Burger king. But if you want good fresh quality food thats served to you by staff that want you to leave happy you go to Cocina Mexicana. Ive gone many times with friends and my boyfriend, the food is always so good. The food is fresh and staff always have a smile on there faces (even when theyre wearing a mask you can tell). I always leave the place full and happy, I would 100% recommend this place to a friend and I will be coming back in the future.

I went to this restaurant with some friends, the restaurant was packed. I ordered my food the first time there was no problems, but the second time I ordered I never got my food so I waited for 30 minutes. after waiting I asked a employee who was breaking tables that I had waited 30 minutes and he said "no food" and left before I could say anything. Would not recommend eating here.

One of the most incredible places to go if you want the staff to treat you like family they are always so welcoming to everyone even with the new regulations if their restaurant is full they always try their best to accommodate me with their takeout menu... One day I even told the waiter to let the chef surprise me with a dish and she did not let down at all one of the best dishes I've had with soft taco shells with a smorgasbord of toppings from chicken beef onions sausage and lettuce. Not only that if you go here you absolutely need to try their Pina Coladas and if you have any mixed drinks they will try to accommodate the best they can one of my old time favorites is called a Godfather and I can't find any place that knows how to make it but here they will and it brings me back to my younger days. Just wanted to say thank you to all the staff for their very hard work and always willing to try and accommodate anybody no mater what.

Well my curiosity got the best of me, so I took a chance . Well low and behold this has to be some of the best authentic Mexican food i've had since moving to Canada. Since we moved to Barrie, this place as been our corner go to (literally, on the corner of our culture de sac) Always friendly, more authentic than my partner's mexican step-abuela's, and just enough variation that the dishes are an adventure each time. Plus, when kids have birthdays they have the most excellent birthday song and dance that would melt the most masculine dude in the room. This restaurant doesn’t even deserve one star but it’s the only way to post a review. Terrible service, the server disappears right after your first order and you don’t see them for about an hour. It’s like they wait for you to get tired of waiting and leave, that way you don’t take advantage of their “all you can eat service” but you still pay the $30 fee per person. Of course we left after waiting for the server for 40 mins, and still paid $30 per person for a couple of tacos and flautas. We also ordered nachos and asked for some water, of course that never came either. The owner’s reaction when we complained seemed like he was used to hearing it. All he cared about was us paying the $30 each, not about customer satisfaction what’s so ever. Never going back, and the food wasn’t the greatest, you’re better off going to a Taco Bell, at least you’ll get better service there.

TLDR: Do yourself a favour and come to Cocina Mexicana! Absolutely amazing restaurant. I took my parents here for their 25th Wedding Anniversary and had a blast. The food is delicious, the ambience is infectious, and the drinks are phenomenal. The tacos are juicy and flavorful. Everything on this menu has that special "homemade" warmth to it. The restaurant follows all covid protocols and keeps everyone safe. The owner Miguel is incredibly hospitable. There's no good reason not to give this place a chance.

A new concept in Mexican Restaurant for Barrie, this wonderful place is all you can eat, pick an item from the menu and they bring it out, pick another and they bring it out, they will even bring out several at the start so you can sample many at once. Simply one of the best restaurants in Barrie. Their food is made fresh, absolutely delicious and also authentically Mexican (confirmed by my partner who is from CDMX). Not to mention when you eat in it is AYCE (take out also delicious). I should also note the service is exceptional and the whole staff is always super friendly and trying to give the best experience. Highly recommend all the foods but especially the carnitas, pastor and shrimp tacos, and the pambazo. Also try the Horchata agua fresca!

Ordered take out of Nachos. They said it would be ready in 12mins. When I arrived they seemed to have forgotten about the order and hadn't even started it. However that's not as big a deal as it was the quality of the food. The Nacho chips seemed possibly made in house. But overall, it was light on all the toppings, and the toppings weren't distributed throughout. So I'd say the ratio was 98% nacho chips and 2% toppings. Hardly any chorizo or salsa. There was a bit more sour cream than anything else. But the worst part was the fake cheese sauce, it seemed like it was cheese whiz or movie theatre cheese sauce. How hard would it be to use real cheese? And how strange to use processed cheese? Pretty disappointed.

You never leave hungry. Excellent Mexican food. Not a Tex-Mex place. So don't expect that. All you can eat, many servers to take your orders. Very friendly. There is usually a wait at prime dining timea and don't sit by the door if it's cold and windy out.

Probably the best "All You Can Eat" in Barrie. It's not buffet style but you order 2-3 plates at a time of what you want and they make it fresh. You can eat as much as you'd like for 2 hours at a fixed price and then pay for your drinks at an additional cost (e.g. Coca Cola $2). The portions are fairly small but they will happily load up additional quantities for you. In addition, they let you choose from a series of authentic salsas for the table. The place is small and the ambiance needs a few upgrades but the service was so excellent that I'm going to give it 5 stars.

I live about 5 hours away and came down here for an airbnb rental to enjoy the beach properly. Ordered from here looking at all the 5 stars. When my friend and I go to pick up the food, my friend gets ignored and overlooked despite the fact that he was paying. Now for the food, the tacos were bland and didnt have any fillings or taste to it. The quesadillas were so generic that I could have made them better myself for cheaper. The torta was edible but it felt like eating a tire between 2 old buns and mayo. The nachos were exceptionally fishy as if they fried everything in oil that was used for old fish. Not to mention that the cheese sauce and pico were just lightly touched on top. Lastly, we are a group 6 with iron stomachs. We have eaten the worst of the worst and nothing happened. 3 of us got sick and sat in the washroom all night. More than half the food was thrown out and we opted for dominoes for a quick and fast fix. Never trusting a 4.7 rating again before I do full research.

This place is the best place for Mexican in town. All you can eat which is almost unheard of for Mexican. Great variety. Great service. Decent price. Most of the salsas and food were fresh and quickly made. Mole had really good flavors. Dinner meat items were not as meaty as expected for some items but it is ayce. If you are watching your carb intake, this isn't the place. It is a place to eat lots and be satisfied. It seems not a lot of locals I talked to know about it as is not in an expected place. Check it out!

We tried this hidden gem on Saturday night. What a find! The all you can eat dinner was great from the appetizers to the main course and desserts. Went as a group of 6, 1 person with very strict dietary restrictions (carbohydrates to sum it up) and they were BEYOND accommodating! We were seated within 5 min of arriving during a dinner rush. Our server Alex gave a complete run down of how ordering works and the menu, along with a background of their experience. All the staff helped with bringing out our food and taking more orders. Food was FRESH & HOT, and authentic! The owners were there assisting with all their staff & guests. So many laughs & conversations were had with our group & the staff. They took our picture wearing sombreros, & some of us gave hugs goodbye until the next time. Once they get their liquor license it will be really be complete. STRONGLY RECCOMEND!

This locale is a small but cozy establishment within the city of Barrie. It offers a kitchen to table service of an all-you-can-eat method. You order food from a provided menu and you may do so as many times as you wish. The menu states a 2 hour eating limit. I don't believe we had reached that or if that suggestion is even enforced. The staff collectively are cheerful, hospitable and tentative, willing to assist wherever they are able. We had our orders missed a few times as it was fairly busy in the restaurant and they don't all write requests down. They were very swift at correcting for missed orders once being notified. The food was served at proper temperature and for most of the options, tasty. There were limited options that we found to be a little on the bland side but since I am not too experienced with what appeared to be authentic Mexican food, I do not have the ability to properly measure the quality and taste of the food against itself. I am simply stating how it tasted on its own merits as I ate it. This restaurant offers 3 different menus that I am aware of: Breakfast/Lunch, Dinner and Brunch. I experienced the Dinner. Next, I plan to try the Brunch. I shall update this review accordingly once I am able to.

I ordered for delivery from UberEats. I've never dined in the restaurant before but have always been thinking about it. Since we're on lockdown, I thought I'd give delivery a try. It. Was. Amazing!!! I ordered the tacos combo with potato salad. The gentleman working at the time called me to ask which tacos I wanted as I hadn't specified (whoops) so I asked for a mix of different kinds. He was happy to oblige and said, "You will love it!" He was right! Everything was well-packaged and was delicious! He even provided a free side of rice, hot sauce, and free dessert! The tortillas were a bit soggy, but you have to expect that since it is being delivered, so I don't fault the restaurant at all for that, and they were delicious anyway! Thanks so much - I will definitely visit in person when things open up again :)

The food was mediocre mexican fare, despite being authentic the system of ordering was chaotic. Staff didn't seem to know who ordered what. I waited quite a while for my food, however was with a larger party (8 people) because of the wait time we didn't end up ordering more plates and left still hungry. Its a flat fee and all you can eat style, unfortunately I don't feel this method is working for Cocina Mexicana. Be warned that the parking is extremely limited, especially in the winter.

Just ordered from skipthedishes and the food was unreal! Typically i don't like the taste of sour cream but I left it on everything and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered nachos, quesadillas amd sopes with a side of potatoes. Nachos were so good thanks to what I'm assuming were house fried tortilla chips. Quesadillas were light and fluffy, so crispy on the outside. I didnt expect them to be as big and tasty as they were! I assume the green salsa I got was with the quesadillas and it was really fresh also nice and spicy. Sopes were really good and don't sleep on the side potatoes!

I ate there a little over a week ago. I ate with my friend Rae a few reviews below which you replied to politely to your credit. We are health conscious people and were coming down from a hiking trip up north. Hungry and cravy for a rare cheat day. Nachos sounded heavenly. Fresh crisp tortillas. Chewy salty cheese. Salsa. Cream. Savory meat. We were excited and cravy on the long drive down to your restaurant. We Googled and chose you based on the 4.7 review you have. We both gave a 1. The nachos are a low price point, so a potential bargain. But we felt scammed and disappointed. Cheat day and the final moments of our trip ended on a disappointing note. The second below layer of chips had no toppings. We threw that half out. We had a debate whether there was chorizo or not Rae got a few small pieces, I don't recall tasting any. No cheese but a movie theater cheese wiz sauce. Extremely sparce so you couldn't really catch the flavors. Is it a processed cheese? You danced around this question. You are always looking for feedback and to improve. Are those social media responses, or an actual company culture? Because it sounds like lipservice. Was there any discussion with the executive chef? Has anything changed? This is an easy fix. Add real cheese to the nachos for goodness sake. Don't skimp out. Imagine you are eating it or someone you care about. Watch a chef Ramsey show like kitchen nightmares. Standards. Show pride and serve quality. Don't cheat people on toppings. A rare quality control issue? So your nachos are normally filled with toppings throughout? This was a rare mistake? You all sound like nice enough people. But the feeling we have is based on what we were served. You only wanted our money and your priority was not in the quality of your food and giving us your best effort on a delicious treat. You have a polite social media presence. But it felt slick and evasive and didn't really address directly. Just felt disingenuous. But at least you replied and have been polite and classy throughout. The location looks nice also. You have potential. But unless the quality improves we won't revisit or recommend you.
