Excellent food and excellent service! My husband and I randomly decided to pop in one night without a reservation but decided not to stick around for the wait because it was going to be over 30 mins. When a table unexpectedly opened up when we were walking down the street, our server literally ran down the road to let us know and see if we still wanted to eat there (it was very cold out that night!). Excellent experience at Bacio from start to finish!

As I write this review I am in a state of bliss. I am sitting at the table still. Had the chefs weekly special. Mussels were amazing. Pasta was rich and tasty. Beef was tender and flavourful. Dessert was above and beyond and delicious. Service was great. Chef came to the table and made us feel special. 10/10 will be back.

One of our favorite restaurants period. We come here every time we are in Barrie. Phenomenal food, and amazing, friendly staff. You can tell the chef really enjoys his work and coming up with new recipe ideas. They are all down to earth and reasonable. Even with special requests, they do their best to make things work for you. HIGHLY recommend.

The best dinner experience I've had since the pre pandemic days, and to find that in a small city like Barrie was just unbelievable good luck! We stopped here on our way back to Toronto, because of Google recommendation, and we certainly went disappointed in the slightest. It's a small, intimate place run by owner and chef William Ortiz, who is an extraordinary person with warmth, great taste, and attention to detail. Chef William Ortiz helped us find the place when we were confused on the street, then opened the door to us a few minutes early so we could come inside and be comfortable. And he personally explains everything and serves the food to the table himself! There's only one menu - the chef's menu. Four-course dinner, and the items change every week! So, you're always in for something new when you visit. And the chef puts so much love and care into his food that there's no way not to enjoy it. I love places that go the extra mile to make sure customers have the best possible experience. This place had exceptionally clean washrooms during my visit, and they even had hand lotions for you - that is such a thoughtful gesture, and something I've never had even in the midst expensive places. Did i mention you get free bread and olive when you sit down? Definitely recommend! I can't think of going anywhere else for food when i visit Barrie, Ontario.

The food is incredible and always cooked to perfection.The flavors and combinations are delightful. The hospitality at Bacio is always top notch, Chef William and his crew ensure an amazing experience (The Chef comes out from the kitchen to meet with each table during their visit). They are also very accomidating for couples with children making my daughter a pizza ( which was not on their menu) while my husband and I enjoyed lobster risotto, citrus infused grilled octopus and osso bucco. I look forward to returning soon.

**I give this restaurant 4 1/2 stars** We visited Bacio Trattoria on a Saturday evening. We had made reservations but it wasn't very busy at the moment. We were promptly greeted by our lovely waiter Miguel, he was VERY nice an amazing host. The service and the atmosphere deserve the 5 stars, this is my very personal opinion about the food and why I withdraw half a star. We ordered the Margherita pizza, the Spaghetti alla Puttanesca and the special of the day, whole bass with potatoes and salad. The fish was delicious, perfectly cooked, crispy skin on the outside and flaky and juicy on the inside. My husband's actual comment about it was "the Chef really knows what he is doing". The side salad was nicely dressed with a vinaigrette and the potatoes were cooked properly. Ok, this is where it gets tricky, although the pasta sauce was delicious, ( I ordered without anchovies) with the capers and olives I think it made it a bit too salty. The pasta noodles were freshly cooked but again a bit overcooked for my liking, if you like your pasta Al Dente you can ask (as I learned after the fact) to cook it so. The pizza was very simple, fresh made and the ingredients were beautiful just the pizza dough perhaps on the thick side. We got to meet the Chef/owner afterwards he was very pleasant and happy to hear our positive feedback. I do recommend this restaurant 100%, a must visit if you are looking for a quiet and exquisite, not outrageously pricey, date or evening out. They serve a wide selection of wines and liquors as well as beer on tap and bottle and soft drinks. Complimentary bread, pesto butter and olives are served too.

This is about as close to a trattoria as you will find in Barrie. It has the casual feel of a bar with an almost formal dining experience. The menu is authentic, with delicious and obviously fresh foods, the mingling of the chef with the patrons makes it feel like a fine dining experience. The wait staff is attentive but gave enough space to enjoy the company I kept. I strongly recommend a visit.

The first two times I stopped in this place was great. They really knew how to make a first impression, I was ready for this to be my go to pizza spot in the East Valley. The owner stopped by the table to introduce himself and his restaurant. Down to earth type guy, even chatted it up the second time during a game that was on as we were leaving.

Went with my husband and 2 kids this evening. Hands down, all we can say is the food was the best we have had anywhere, in a really long time. The pasta sauce tasted exactly like how our Italian nonnas used to make it. The large Seafood Platter was made to perfection. It was fresh, tasty and filled with an amazing selection and variety of perfect fish options. The little fire sparklers was the perfect added touch which my kids loved. The entire staff was pleasant and hospitable. We will return for sure!

The absolute best Italian restaurant in Barrie. Authentic flavours and ingredients with a modern take on classic antipasti and main dishes. Creative flavour profiles highlight each dish with a unique trattoria style menu. This is not Nonna's hot table. This is 5 star cuisine in a modern atmosphere. Our menu was excellent. Service is far beyond anything encountered at local competitors. Enough said. 10/10 grazie tutti per la cucina buonissima!!

This was our first time at this restaurant, and to say that I was blown away by the experience would be a complete understatement. From the second we walked in, to the second we left, we had an amazing time. the service is impeccable, Chef Will and his staff not only know what they are doing, but also you can tell that they love what they do and it shows in the food, the service, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Our servers Rylin and Alicia (probably spelled wrong, sorry) were incredible. We had the tasting menu. The portions were appropriate and a bit more than I was expecting to receive. The food was well seasoned, and everything was made in house with care and presented nicely. by the time we left after almost 2 hours, we felt like family here. we even met all the staff! Thank you so much for a great experience and great food. we will be coming back here frequently!

We visited Bacio for Valentine's Day this year, and wow what a treat ! The food was delicious , a great selected 3 course menu special . The service , was even better. Alesha took care of us, along with her partner Mickel. They were both fantastic. They just seemed to light up the room together! It was our first time here , it was on the smaller side but it made it very romantic and quaint. The atmosphere was great , the energy was very welcoming and it just got better and better! This place is a MUST visit in Barrie, and we will be going back frequently ! Thanks Bacio team. What a great great time !

The eggplant panini is all that I hoped for (I barely see eggplant being offered in panini) and it was nicely breaded. I enjoyed the slight crunch in the sandwich! I never got to go in but my family members said the owner of the restaurant was really nice and took the time to give recommendations. Edit: I finally got to dine in here! My family members were not wrong, the staff and the chef here are extremely friendly. We found out that the seafood platter was not available during our day of visit because the crabs and lobsters' shipment has not arrived, but the chef came out and told us he could adjust the pricing and customize the seafood platter just for us, which was honestly so nice of him. The seafood platter is a bang for your buck. Most seafood platters are pretty straightforward and bland, but the chef really made the flavoring and spices interesting in a good way! (The oysters especially) Not only did the chef make our dining out experience pleasant, he also gave us a small gift to bring back home, ensuring that dining-in is just as exciting. I have been using the spice blend everyday and it goes well with everything. Many thanks!

What a gem! My significant other and I went for Barrielicious and the offering was outstanding. Portions for the main course were HUGE and the service was so friendly and welcoming. The chef himself brought us our entrées which was a great touch. Such a cute and cozy little spot with a fine dining feel, but without the stuffiness. Value for money was on point and the food was delectable. We will be back to try the regular menu FOR SURE. Highly recommend this quaint downtown Barrie spot.

Bacio Trattoria and Wine Journeys hosted a Covid virtual Valentine's Dinner. A little skeptical how the dinner would work, those reservations soon fell away as we began to unpack the food to prepare at home. Soon after logging into our zoom meeting, Chef William guided us through the final cooking prep. The food was absolutely delicious and Wine Journeys did a superb job at pairing the most appropriate wines. We enjoyed musical entertainment by Kat Chabot, and were later surprised by musical entertainment piped in from Mexico...David Dicante. Looking forward to our next Covid virtual dinner with Bacio and Wine Journey! Well done!

Last night we had an amazing time at Bacio! I had planned a surprise dinner party for my boyfriend and 10 friends. They were over the top accommodating!! There were balloons at the table, they sang happy birthday and even surprised us with a lemoncello cake on the house! The service and food were outstanding! I highly recommend the gnocchi. The pleasant welcome from staff and helpful insight to the menu is top notch.
