This Restaurant is classified in the category of Seafood restaurant.
Awesome food from A to Z. The snow crab is to die for The mussels divine. The salads 5 stars. The choice of bread really good they even serve corn bread Seriously everything was damn good. The planked salmon is just the best I've ever had. The homemade apple pie made go there just for coffee and dessert the next day. Ridiculously delicious The staff was lovely, helpful, fast. Honestly the best experience possible .
It may seem a bit pricey until you consider the shortness of their busy season. As for the food, it was excellent. I guess you can't do much to spoil steamed lobster, but the quality really showed with the seafood chowder (best I've had) and mussels (ditto). The service was great, and they cheerfully accommodated our dietary requirements. They were also very helpful with the young children. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular.
Great mussels (they're not kidding when they call it a "Big Ol'Bucket") and lobster was excellent. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is nautical, fitting for the menu.
Loved my lobster dinner!
Good food, friendly service and beautiful location.
A nice place to have a lobster dinner. A little bit pricey, but that's given with a lobster dinner. Good value on the all you can eat options, so good bang for your buck overall. Nothing too extravagant, but it gets the job done, if that job is having a lobster dinner in Nova Scotia
Everyone goes here for the $42 special. Muscles weren't really marinated, chowder was watery, and salads weren't special. I added salt and pepper to the chowder, and used it to dip my muscles in it...which made a huge difference! Lobster, biscuits, and apple pie were good. Go for the outdoor seating if it's available. It is screened in so you can enjoy your dinner outside without the bugs.
Pretty average lobster supper - very basic and nothing exceptional, but good if you're looking for a lobster supper experience. Sitting on the porch was lovely. The kitchen pre-cracks your lobster for you - which was nice especially when hungry. The all you can eat mussels/chowder/entree is a good deal - $42. The lobster is pretty small, but definitely enough food. We arrived around 18:00 and sat pretty fast, but the place filled up quickly shortly after and people were waiting.
The hype is real! Make a reservation and enjoy the BEST meal you'll have on the east coast! The seafood is fresh and delicious but the homemade desserts are even better! Service was excellent, very attentive and accommodating.
Awesome place! We had the all you can eat option knowing full well we would only have a portion of each serving: cup of chowder to start, then a dozen mussels, followed by a whole lobster with 3 types of salad (coleslaw, potato, and green salad). We were warned to save the rolls for last so as to have room for the sea food but I could not resist the tea biscuit and the sweet flat breads! To top it all off, coffee and homemade dessert (we went for the blueberry crisp and strawberry rhubarb crisp.. however we were so full we took it to go and will have it for breakfast ????). Do I recommend this place? Hell yah!!!
Absolutely Delicious meal! Came here for dinner with my husband as we were passing through Baddeck and I am so happy that we found this restaurant. I had my first ever Chowder and it was incredible. I also got the heavenly never ending mussels. My grilled steak was also perfect and to finish this incredible meal I ordered a slice of coconut cream pie. The pie was AMAZING! Quite honestly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I definitely want to return and highly recommend.
A must go for anyone who loves seafood! All you cam eat mussels and fish chowder with your choice of 1 1/4 lb lobster, crab or for planked salmon for $55. The price is higher than it was in the past, but the price of lobster has gone up. Friendly faces, amazing food, and no mess to clean up at home!
This is more of a lobster hall and less of a lobster restaurant. No pretentiousness here, no need to dress up, leave your air of snobbery in your car because your going to sit down with a whole hall of people excited to get a lobster, crab, steak or fish made simple so that the food speaks for itself. I'd like to take this opportunity to give a shout out to the staff who treat everyone like a member of the community and not like a tourist passing through. I call this a hall because unlike a restaurant when you are seated at a table there is a compulsion to engage your neighbours in conversation and this is what makes this place special, unabashed chatting with everyone around you, making new friends, laughing with strangers telling and hearing stories. Now for the food review. This is not my first lobster, but then I haven't eaten lots of them (and it is later in the season), but I found my lobster a bit small, but well prepared. My eating partner ordered the salmon and we found it dry and overcooked. I have no opinion on the steak or crab so you'll have to fill in the gaps on those. So in short I'll say your best bet is to order the lobster or crab, you take your chances on the other dishes, but the experience of the hall is what makes eating here such a delight.
Decide to come here because i see the review mostly is 5 star , but when i try so sorry i have to give 2 star. Salmon over cook and bland, $32 is over price for my taste , Lobster also no taste Smell very strong, chef need to improve how to cook.
Great service and wonderful food. Decent prices. We shared the bucket of mussels and each had a cup of seafood chowder. It was just enough food for us both to be full. The mussels were fantastic! Best I ever had. The chowder was a perfect side dish. The desserts looked delicious, especially the lemon meringue. Sadly, I couldn't eat them due to diet restrictions, and honestly being too full.
Had a great time with the family! Lobsters were amazing and it was great fun with a group. The servers were friendly and walked us through step by step how to get the most out of some of our first lobster experiences.
Ordered takeout after seeing high reviews. It was indeed impressive. The Lobster was fresh and pre cracked. The fire planked salmon was absolutely delicious. Godly texture and seasoning! The side dishes (potatoes, coleslaw and salad) that came with the main were fantastic as well. The seafood chowder was only ok. It was chunky and bland for my taste. Overall amazing!
Utterly fantastic mussels - best I've ever had. Amazing seafood chowder. Loved the lobster and crab. Very accommodating staff - offered us slight variations to the menu to accommodate our kids.
My 13 year old son and I enjoyed our maritime lobster dinner here. The staff was incredibly friendly, the ambiance very unique to Cape Breton, and the food was delicious. Delicious all you can eat mussels, followed by the best lobster bisque I’ve ever had, and concluded with a nice medium sized lobster. We had a great time.
Very good meal and service. Was wary that it may be 'touristy' but it was not. Good service and a tasty meal. Lobster and crab were both cooked perfectly. Sides were good and freshly baked buns, scones and oat cakes were delicious. Desserts knocked it out of the park. Best chocolate cake I've had in a restaurant and husbands lemon meringue pie was outstanding.
Was yummy
My Favorite backhome meal, I drive across the island when ever I'm back for the lobster and bucket of mussels
I'd give this more stars if I could! Super friendly staff, reasonably priced food (for lobster dinners). Mussels were great, lobster dinner was amazing, salmon was delicious There was even a kids crab dinner which was really good!
All you can eat mussels with a lobster supper. Super good and great staff, a place to remember.
A great local place for all you can east lobster and crab. Excellent service and delicious seafood.
CLOSED UNTIL 2022 uodating their billboards or website would have been great. Lots of good other options in the area thankfully.
Perfect. Just what we were looking for. Hot fresh seafood. Served fast and very courteously. Super cute casual atmosphere, great view. Lovely service. Worth the drive..
A true Maritimes experience not to be missed. There are a few menu items, but the main attraction is the $50 lobster supper. For this price, you get unlimited seafood chowder, mussels, and a house-made dessert. The seafood chowder was delicious, and although I usually don't care for mussels I liked these so much I ate a second plate. Lobster was almost an anticlimax, but still quite tasty, if a little tough. Dessert of blueberry crisp with ice cream was the perfect finish. If you find yourself in Baddeck go here for a great meal you won't soon forget
Overpriced overated. Tasteless lobster. The salmon was overcooked, practically hard. Only saving grace was delicious dipping sauce and small potatoes. I came for seafood but it was a miss. They need to up their game, not just anyhow cooking. Canadians need to do better and stand out. I want to be a prouder Canadian but right now, I have had much better BBQ street seafood in Thailand.
Very busy and very tasty place. For a Tuesday line ups all night long, with about 1 hour waits. Trust me it's worth it. Mussels and chowder till you need to stop, then lobster, or planked salmon cooked outside over an open fire. Come and enjoy. Won't be disappointed.
The food was excellent and the service was good, especially given how busy they were. The food and wine were both locally sourced. We had planked salmon which was smokey and delicious. The server couldn't give us a wine recommendation to go with our dinner, unfortunately. Restrooms are clean and well maintained.
Had the all you can eat mussels with lobster. Excellent food. Friendly service. Good prices. Very full but very happy
I highly recommend Baddeck Lobster Suppers! We opted for the lobster dinner (of course, however there are many alternative, fresh options offered as well.) Thoroughly enjoyed! Best dinner ever! The endless mussels were amazing! Best tasting! Everything from the chowder to salad to dessert and coffee were perfect and delicious! Our waitress was SO kind, friendly, accommodating and welcoming. We couldn't ask for anything better (other than being to give them a 10 stars rating!) A definite place to go for dinner whenever you're in the Baddeck area! I highly recommend it!! ???? ????⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I highly recommend ????the staff are friendly and the food was delicious ????
Absolutely the best lobster supper I've ever had! So fresh - it crawled out of the ocean onto my plate. Homemade desserts are wonderful. Hope to be back someday!
Great view of the water and warm friendly service. A delightful basket of breads to start (melt in your mouth good biscuits and sweet oat "cookies" too). Mussels were fresh and sweet and the lobster dinner was also amazingly good. Lobster dinner comes with cucumber tomato salad, potato salad, and coleslaw. We made room for strawberry rhubarb crumble and lemon meringue pie. Waddled back to the car to drive back to the hotel. A must do when you're out here!
Delicious food, good service, good location on the way to the NFLD ferry, and NOT at all pricy. Bonus points for surprisingly tasty local beer. So glad we decided to make this stop after a really long drive.
Delicious crab dinner. Incredible value. The rubarb crisp was divine. Great service. A++
Amazing meal. Lobster, crab legs and mussels.
Awsome food, super nice staff, lovely environment
Was here 20 years ago n returned to do Cabot trail again and had to stop here again. Brought our friends to taste the fantastic food. Highly recommend the all your can eat menu!
Went here for dinner after Cycling the Cabot trail. The food was amazing, probably some of the best salmon that I have ever had. The prices were pretty reasonable as well. The service was very good and friendly. The biscuits were also very good. My friends had the all you can eat seafood with the lobster and they were very impressed with their food. There is plenty of parking, but if you are staying in town its a very short walk from most resorts. Very good views of the bay as well.
Smallish lobster and salad
Fairly priced and a great deal if you bring your appetite with the all you can eat mussels and chowder. Delicious coconut cream pie! Pleasant and down to earth serving staff.
This is by far the best bang-for-your-buck seafood dining experience in Cape Breton. Atmosphere: Cute cottage style vibe with all the precautions of a messy seafood meal in place. The view of the Bras D’Or Lakes is stunning if you sit in their closed in patio area. You are provided with a bib, scissors and a seafood pick to get all the yummy meat out. Menu: There are options for snow crab, lobster, AAA steak and cedar planked salmon for your main. Optional sides include mussels and chowder. The best deal is the all you can eat option where you are provided with endless buckets of mussels, endless chowder, a bread basket with buns, biscuits and oat cakes, your choice of crab, lobster, salmon or steak, endless non-alcoholic beverages and your choice of dessert (usually 5-7 options) with coffee or tea. I highly recommend if you choose to go here, be hungry. The food itself is delicious. The mussels and chowder are fresh, the salmon is done daily and the seafood is flash frozen. My top pick is the snow crab followed by coconut cream pie!
Delicious seafood supper in a family-friendly setting on the water, with great local craft beer on tap. Very friendly and efficient service. The all-you-can-eat formula includes unlimited refills of the seafood chowder & steamed mussels, with one choice of either whole lobster, snow crab (8 legs), haddock or the maple plank smoked salmon as the main protein. The chunky chowder has a more liquid milk broth, but it is super flavourful and delicious. The mussels were fresh, plump and some of the best we have had to date. Adding some of the mussels to the chowder was a definite win. The lobster and snow crab were both very good, as was the planked salmon our group had ordered. The All-you-can-eat option is a very good value for the money if you are hungry. Had no room left for the homemade desserts though. Would definitely return.
The snow crab supper and mussels were superb! Seafood was really fresh and hot. Even the sides (salads, bread, oat cakes) were freshly made and delicious. Go early as they don’t take reservations for small parties. We showed up at 4pm and there was already a queue.
This place was definitely worth the 1 hour wait. They didn't have the all you can eat mussels anymore but still provided us with a bowl of mussels, which was just fine. The seafood chowder was full of fish, shrimp, scallops and potatoes. The lobster was tasty and I had the coconut cream pie to finish. The service was fantastic and though we sat out on the deck and the place was packed, many servers took the time to chat with us. Overall, a great experience and awesome dinner. I'd highly recommend to others!
Generous servings. Homemade. Local ingredients. Geat food with the feels of Baddeck.
OMG... the food here is delicious and the menu is great. Service is great and fast. I had the all you can eat with lobster Seafood chowder and mussel's it was to die for. The mussels were huge. Come here if you love Seafood you will love it!!! I will definitely come back again.
Top 5 dinners I’ve ever had in my life.
All you can eat (mussels and chowder) plus your one main meal. For about $45. Includes dessert and beverage. Good food and service.
We stopped here for dinner when we were finished the Cabot Trail. My boyfriend and I each ordered the all you can eat dinner which includes bread/rolls/oat cakes, all you can eat chowder and mussels with your choice of main. We had the lobster and it was perfection. The mussels were great, we had quite a few of those and two cups of the chowder which was pretty good as well. You also get salad with your main, one dessert and a non alcoholic beverage. It was a wonderful dinner and we'd definitely come back in the future. I will add, when we went it was $50 for the meal per person.
Great food. Was very busy but they still got us in.
It is worthy to get the all you can eat chowder and mussels. Our waitress Angie was very friendly and helpful. This is the big seafood meal that you should get in cape breton.
An awesome experience! We did the all-you-can eat option and it was delicious. The mussles were simple but good (and truly all you can eat) and we had the lobster and crab and both were exceptional. Worth the price and I would definitely go back again!
An excellent place to eat. We got there right at 4 pm so there wasn't a wait. We did notice a constant line while we were eating though. Our server, Angie, was an absolute sweetheart and treated us very well. Her service was exceptional and the kids were very comfortable with her. The all you can eat is a good deal, but only includes unlimited mussels and chowder, not the entree of lobster, crab, beef, etc. This place is a must in Baddeck, especially if you go and see the Alexander Graham Bell museum. The desserts are excellent and home made. We tried the blueberry crumble and it was to die for! We'll be back the next time we're on Cape Breton Island!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this establishment! The Lobster dinner was absolutely fantastic, and my chocolate cake was to die for. Our waitress was so helpful and taught us landlubbers how to eat a lobster correctly, which was necessary for us to have such a great meal. Overall, I was very impressed with the food, atmosphere, and service. Well done!
I enjoyed everything we ate. We ordered seafood chowder which was AMAZING, lobster, crab legs and the smoked salmon.
Well, here is our experience with this place: 1. Welcoming service is outstanding. 2. Indoor service is good. 3. Lobster is awesome. 4. Chowder is not creamy, but tasty. 5. Steak (well done) is burned on the outside. 6. Salmon on the plank was supposed to be good but failed expectations…dry as a paper…we weren’t charged for it. All in all, great place for lobster!!! Meat and salmon eat elsewhere.
Great place to eat. Agreed with all the previous comments. Thankfully they cracked open the Lobster for you, so it made the eating experience less embarrassing. The mussels were fine, but I was hoping for some sauce to accompany it, like the Belgiums do. It only came with some melted butter. The chowder was OK, a bit watery if I’m honest. One bit of advice and that is to turn up early if you can. It gets busy. On Canada day they close at 20:00.
Would not repeat, expensive and the food was overcooked/steamed. We had the crab, lobster and chowder. Crab and lobster was overcooked, some lower parts of the crab legs were black and broken off so we left them alone. Lobster was better than the crab. Chowder was ok, but had much better closer to Halifax.
The lobster was huge, and extremely fresh. The sides including the chowder were pretty mediocre. The mussels were fresh but plain. The amazing lobster did make up for the entire meal though, making it worth the visit.
Great place to get sea food.
Unlimited mussels and chowder to begin our meal..also the tea biscuits, buns and oat cakes..so delicious .Then a whole.lobster and drawn butter..wow We finished the meal.with coffee and a piece of homemade chocolate cake!! Absolutely go here if you're in the area !
We had supper at Lobster Suppers last night. We found our experience was average. I had the crab and my wife had the lobster dinner. I found the crab was very good, sweet and delicious and a good portion for the price. However, my wife was not as impressed with the lobster. She thought it was a bit over cooked and we both thought the portion was small for the price. We were surprised for a lobster house. The menu stated 1 1/4 lb lobster but we wondered if it was. Certainly we do not know for sure but based this on our observation from the lobster we were buying in PEI.
Can't say enough about this place!! If I can live and eat here everyday I would!! The Lobster amazing and the unlimited mussels!! What more can anyone ask for. It's worth the wait! East coast trip 2017
Amazing meal, wonderful staff
A great place to go with the Fam, or alone. I had the snow crab dish which was awesome. Wife had the smoked on sight salmon. A must go to.
Excellent dinner. Great friendly service.. Not only lobster but steak and crab as well.
Large portions! Friendly staff!! Lots of parking! Delicious salmon!!
Great food, good prices, friendly staff
In a small town, this restaurant retains the sense of community. Nothing fancy but is well run. The food (mostly and renowned for seafood) is well prepared and all tasty. We had the lobster with all you can eat chowder and mussels. At $50CAN a really good price. All were really worth the visit. It's very busy from opening (4:00 pm) to closing. I'd suggest reservations. A great little spot, well worth a visit.
The food was great, the staff were courteous. Although the wait for the table takes time, I guess with its polularity it does get full easily. They usually tell you how long you are to wait, so you can go out and have a stroll around the place while waiting.
Amazing seafood place that is well worth the wait! Hands down the best snow crab and mussels I’ve ever had. The portions are generous and service was quick! Would definitely go back if I was ever in Cape Breton again.
The lobster was great.. but the "big ol bucket" of mussels for like $20 stole the show, myyyyyyy God they were good! Mama loved it
Wonderful atmosphere! Great food. Fresh seafood and vegetables. Highly recommend
Came here 3 years ago on a trip across Atlantic Canada and I still think about it! We had the all you can eat mussels and the lobster dinners. Amazing, you won't be disappointed
Great lobster and crab but the salmon dish stole the show. Fairly priced in a simple environment.
WAITRESS VERY GOOD AND ACCOMMODATING! AT 72 DO NOT EAT LIKE WE USE TO SO ASKED IF WE COULD DO ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR ONE PERSON WITH NO REORDER WHICH WAS $50. INCLUDED ONE LOBSTER TAIL, ONE ORDER CLAMS, CUP OF CLAM CHOWDER, POTATOE SALAD, VEG SALAD AND 1 DESSERT. ALSO ORDER CARAFE OF WIN FOR $17. EVERY THING WAS GOOD ACCEPT THE LOBSTER AND CLAMS WERE OVER COOKED AND CHEWY. OVER COOKING IS EASY WITH ANY SEAFOOD BUT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH EXPERIENCED COOKS!
Food was great. Wait time after we were seated was a little long before someone came by to offer drinks. Great location near the water.
The food was great, in person I like the oysters the most
I ate too much...for $45, all you can eat mussels and chowder, with a lobster, salad plate, coffee and dessert! Sat on the screened in porch, which was nice and quiet. Arrived at 5:30, and there was plenty of seating, but that wasn't the case as we were leaving! The lobster was excellent, but the chowder was potato heavy and thin, so I added my mussels to it, pepper, and it was worth a second helping! Service was friendly and quick. We will definitely go again.
Had the lobster meal with the all you can eat mussels, and seafood chowder. Food was OUTSTANDING! The house made rhubarb custard pie was soooooo good! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Excellent experience!
We ordered the "all you can eat" meal set. The biscuits and oat cakes were great - the biscuits were warm and soft (possibly just out of the oven). Chowder had lots of stuff in it but wasn't particularly flavourful. We weren't expecting much from the steamed mussels but they were surprisingly good and enticed us to ordered another round. For the mains, the lobster was very fresh; snow crab was cooked well, but not as fresh. Of the three desserts we tried (chocolate cake, blueberry crisp and strawberry rhubarb crisp), the blueberry crisp was the group favourite. If you're planning on visiting, come early and be prepared to wait. They were very busy when we arrived and we waited 45 minutes to be seated.
The location is great and the restaurant has a fun atmosphere. During the busy season you are best off getting there by 6:00. The food was good, the mussels were particularly good.
Worth planning a trip to Baddeck Lobster Suppers no matter were you live... what a great seafood restaurant. Ordered the all you can eat muscles and chowder with crab as my main. The best part, it was 40$!! What a deal! Good luck getting this meal anywhere else in Canada!
I'm giving this five stars because it deserves it. What a wonderful experience! I really want to give it one star to scare people away so I can be guaranteed a table next time I visit! But no can do. This is a special place and my wife and I will remember this amazing meal for many years. We live two days drive from this place, but I can guarantee that we will plan a future vacation around visiting again. And the quality of the service and hospitality of everyone matched the excellence and quantity of the food.
Good fun good food. Seriously all you can eat mussels and chowder when you order an entree like Lobster. Nothing fancy. Same price as other places charge you just for the lobster.
I found it to be different than I expected. But in a good way. I really enjoyed the experience and meal. I would like to try them again. The down side for me is that I'm not a big lobster guy. So I probably lost out a little there.
While I really enjoyed the food, it was the exceptional service we received that makes this restaurant five stars. Our server insisted on baby sitting our fussy little three-month-old for a few minutes, which allowed me and my wife to finish our meals in peace. I'm by no means saying BLS offers a baby sitting service, but this simple act of conscientiousness left a lasting impression: this restaurant goes above and beyond to make sure their patrons love their dining experience.
We had such a great experience here, the food was delicious. we got all you can eat, and the waitress didn't judge us with how many mussels and chowder we got. then the lobster main course was unreal, such a big sweet lobster and even had a few side salads so it felt well balanced dessert and coffee was awesome too, hardly had room for it. I'd highly recommend stopping!!
Place was packed when we stopped in so I assume it is the place to go to. Food was good but not plentiful. I took the lobster platter and left there hungry. The salad plate that comes with it was served on a small plate and was barely covering the plate. Lobster was only 1 1/4 lbs. I thought $36 was way too pricey for what I received and I am a small eater. A man would never have been satisfied with that order.
If you can only do one thing before you die, eat here. Excellent service, and the best smoked mussels in North America.
Our family had dinner buffet on Jul 31/2018. Lobster, great. Unlimited mussel & chowder. Mussel not cleaned very well. Taste good but eat with caution to avoid eating soil.
I came to this establishment with very high hopes. Initially ran into issues because they said I had not made a reservation as they don't take them for 2. I am certain I did. This was not an issue as I did not mind waiting for a table. We got our table and got the all you can eat. The chowder was watery however did have a good quantity of chunks of fish and meat. Flavour was unfortunately less than what we were hoping for. The mussels did not appear very well cleaned and we had to throw a few out due to the sandy residue. The lobster meal in itself was just a basic lobster supper. Not bad but nothing special. The tail meat was lovely and the claws were good too. Not much on the body so overall not much meat. I highly recommend you ask for extra butter as it only comes with a thimbles worth. We got a lobster dinner but nothing overly special. Server also did not check in on us once during the visit, we had to flag them down anytime we wanted anything. Not worth the hype but still a decent meal.
Fantastic place to eat, can get really busy and they don’t take reservations for two. We joined another couple as tables for four or six are easier to get. It was my wife’s birthday and they all sang happy birthday ( with a lot of the people there joining in)
My hands down favourite meal during my trip out east. The chowder is delicious and stuffed with seafood, the mussels are fresh and flavourful and the lobser is sweet, buttery and so delicious. I appreciated how they give it to you cracked so it's easier to eat. If you're going there definitely splurge for one of the all you can eat dinners. And and I almost forgot the pie, it was really fresh and amazing too.
This was the best meal. Great service, even though it is always busy, and with good reason! Great quality meal in a down to earth, fun environment. We will be coming back every year!
Delicious options, whether seafood or steak, with gluten free options which include almost every item in the menu (expect for salmon) so had a great evening along with my coeliac wife. Super friendly staff, particularly Courtney who was really nice and charming. Great place and great food!
