Great spot but hard to get to and over priced.
Overpriced. Food is OK, not awesome.
Out. Standing.
Banff was packed, and wait times up to 45 mins, walked right in here and had some really good German food on the patio, with awesome views. A little pricey, but worth it.
Food wasn't spectacular and the price was ridiculous in my opinion
Don`t let the price scare you, the quality is worth every dollar. Also you can get a 2L glass boot of German beer here, which is just awesome.
I recommend Waldhaus Restaurant & Pub, Banff, Alberta - Canada excellent service Delicious food Outstanding
The view from the patio was amazing. Downtown Banff was packed with people waiting for tables at most of the restaurants but we were able to walk right in and get a great table on the patio here. We shared the Wurst plate with a couple of beers and everything was very good. Don't miss out on this view! And take the beautiful drive around the golf course before or after your meal.
Delicious German food and friendly service!
A fabulous flavour of Germany
Great Germany food nestled in the woods.
The food was divine. Gastropub, European, Oh CANADA! Call it what you want, I call it divine. Having worked in the food industry, I get it. Its a tough gig. These folks and GM Michael, are exceptional. You feel at home, they ALL go above and beyond. Best place I went to while in the west. Thank You!
A must if you are looking to take in the scenery in a super cool vintage European feeling pub, beer is cold and delicious as it should be. Very friendly and talkative staff, a unique stop, rich in history and an unreal view.
Best German Swiss restaurant in Banff. Located in separate building on Fairmont property. Swiss cheese fondue and chocolate fondue are wonderful. Service excellent.
Beautiful spot off the tourist strip. Good food, good service, incredible atmosphere / surroundings.
Need proof of vaccination to drink this sop
Now this is what I call a brat with a view! Nice dog-friendly patio.
Great place
Great service and great food! The fondue experience left us full for about a week. Highly recommend!
Such a delicious schnitzel, accompanied by excellent views! The restaurant was not open on the day we went, but the pub was, and the food was excellent. Perhaps this fare actually lends itself more to a pub environment than to a formal dining room - it was lovely to enjoy a drink and good German cooking in an informal atmosphere.
Great views. Wonderful food. Delightful service. Shuttle service available
Special flavors, great ambience, nice staff
Spectacular setting by the river and golf course. Extremely helpful and accommodating staff. Great food. Cold, delicious beer, while sitting on the patio.
We are at the restaurant and it was fabulous. This 1929 building has great character. Fondu was delicious. Swiss and German choices. Everything we had was of the highest order.
it's OK... very expensive but not the quality+view you've come to expect with Fairmont restaurants...
Their patio is great on a hot day. They also have some of the best German beers on tap, including Hacker-Pschorr and Schofferhofer. Hopefully, we'll be back before the weather turns!
Excellent food, very generous portions, and amazing service.
It is a great pub with great service. Love the views and the ambience. It is a bit of a trek to get there.
Great traditional building with fantastic swiss food. The service was exemplary.
Fantastic view, the service was great and the food was Fantastic. We had the pretzels and cheese. We also had the boar and poutine.
Amazing potatop chip nachos combined with a million dollar views down Spray Valley
The pub is a fantastic spot for a date. We enjoyed steins on the patio which looks out over hole 15 on the golf course. It’s a charming place with excellent service, the employees are attentive and polite. We ordered the spaetzle which was incredible: hearty and cheesy. Parking was a tad confusing to find. Can’t wait to go back.
Visited the pub section of the restaurant so I can only speak for experience there but I'm.sure the restaurant is even better as the menu looks incredible. We visited Waldhaus pub section 4 times in our week long stay at Fairmont and it was perfect. Excellent vibe, very friendly clientele and amazing service every single time . The menu is really good for a pub fare part of the restaurant. Sauerkraut is so yummy and is served warm on a cast iron skillet. Pretzels were so yummy and soft and warm with a dip and mustard seeds . Great beer , cocktails, great experience! Will definitely visit again when back in Banff next year .
Wonderful Service and Amazing Food... A perfect pairing that creates an exquisite experience. A beautiful view from every seat enhances the restaurant's already awesome ambiance.
Fantastic decor. Excellent foos
Great place! Best view from a pub.
The Cheese Burger was terrific! Wings with the haus sauce were really solid as well.
Great food and beautiful mountain scenery
Pub downstairs is great, good kitchen with specials. I enjoy wings on a wednesday or trivia night on a thursday. Free pool is a bonus, with a patio looking over Spray river and the famous Banff Springs Golf Course.
best services best restaurant in area. tasty!!!
Such an incredible meal! I ordered the Roasted Mushroom Tartine and I am tempted to say it was the most delicious meal I've ever had at a restaurant. The portions were large and the views from the patio were spectacular as well!
Nachos made with potato chips!? Game changer.
Incredible patio, amazing views, and ginormous beers. It's awesome and you should give it a try.
Great pub hidden away from the more uptight main hotel. Definitely worth the walk.
Casual bar atmosphere, try the Das Boot ????
Good food but expensive.
Neat location, and theme but very expensive for a pub. Beer was pricey as well as pub menu. Didn't go to the restaurant upstairs so this review is just about the pub downstairs.
We had a Great waiter. I think his name was Steve. He sensed I didn't enjoy my liquor spiked hot tea and graciously took it off our bill. I can't remember the name of the cheese, bacon pasta in skillet...GET that!!! Perfect, thick, crispy bacon delight with sprinkled, toasted, bread crumbs. The cheese fondue is huge! Beautiful views, nice and toasty inside, large TV for viewing sports.
Nice location
Ollie and Joe! Thank you! Best wings! Best pineapple margarita! Go to the pub - sit at the bar - have a chat with the most kind people.
Average overpriced Bavarian food, everyone left disappointed and with stomach aches. It was highly recommended by hotel so very disappointed.
Best wings in banff!
Come for the views and the schnitzel! Amazing patio. Wouldn't recommend the strudel!!
Excellently presennted.
Extremely mediocre and unsatisfying food in the pub. So unless you love mediocre German food without a hint of vegetable matter, just come get a drink and see the view. Restaurant upstairs has a different menu, is maybe better judging by the maitre d's offense at being asked if it was the same food.
Awesome experience here. It is expensive but it's a very cool spot. It is a hidden gem.
Absolutely wonderful place to be! We had a unpleasant experiance at the Vermillion Room but ended up super thankful it happened, because the way were treated here was above and beyond what we expected from a "pub". We had a friendly greetimg and an amazing view from the patio to start with a delicious cheese board. Our server was super friendly and the manager was a warm and consistent presence among the staff and tables which was great to see! It's the little things that can make or break an experiance and this was definitely a "make" experience from start to finish! Thank you!
Great atmosphere truly a little bit of Germany in Banff Alberta. For the beer lovers you must get Das Boot 64oz of proper German stout. Don’t forget to indulge in some bratwurst or pretzel.
Review is for pub. Great after a round of golf. I recommend the waldhaus burger or nachos or wings!
Great view, hospitality and menu
5/5 wine 5/5 service 1/5 strong wind
Lovely view, great chipmunks.
Great food and Great staff always a good place for a drink and a bite to eat!
Waldhaus pub is my favourite place to eat in Banff. The wings are the best in the area, and the rest of the fare has never disappointed either. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable. Service is terrific. Jackson at the bar is a joy to interact with. I want wings now.
Pub downstairs has an odour/funky smell. If you're going to charge $15 for a Ceaser at least know how to make one. A slice of brown lime is NOT a garnish.
Schnitzel! Nuff said. Except watch out for the squirrel.
Over priced, but expected because of the location
What a fantastic Evening, the service was awesome, the food was delicious, the atmosphere cozy, definitely can’t not wait too return.
My family and I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. The view, the food, the drinks, the service all were beyond amazing. Firstly, I'd like commend Angela, our server, for making us feel so welcome and at home. Kind and genuine, she really made our time at Waldhaus extra special and memorable. Matt, the super star sous-chef, also came out after the meal for a lovely chat. What a great guy! We all had the Fondue Experience and it was incredible! The wine pairing that I ordered with my meal was perfect as well (thank you for that, Angela!). Seated right next to the window in a Swiss rustic setting overlooking the river running through the valley in the majestic Rocky Mountains was absolutely breathtaking. If you find yourself in Banff, do yourself a favour and make sure you make a reservation at this amazing place! You'll remember it for the rest of your life!
Waldhaus Restaurant & Pub is participating in the Government of Alberta's Restrictions Exemptions Program. Excellent. Very nice patio with view of beautiful mountains. Good time spent with my family @ patio. Excellent choices of draft beer & tasteful food.
Angela was an awesome server. Great views and delicious food.
Fantastic German spot
Solid casual spot located just underneath the Fairmont. Great views from the patio. Food was tasty and our waiter was very attentive.
Absolutely great service. Robbie was excellent and the food was amazing.
The 1/2 fondue for lunch is great for 2. I've also had the French onion soup another time which was very nice. Sit in the touret if possible!
Great view and german brew
One of my new favourite spots in Banff! Food was absolutely fantastic and so was the beer. I ordered the schnitzel with the mushroom sauce and it may have been the best meal I’ve eaten in Banff. The pricing for the quality and quantity of the food was very reasonable as well. This place is a MUST for anyone who wants to enjoy amazing food with a great view on the patio.
Amazing experience, servers were incredibly nice and managed to make the experience incredibly smooth despite necessary health/safety concerns. We didn't order any real food, but ordered a few drinks, which were wonderful, alongside a few Pretzels (Baked perfectly, brushed with butter/salt and served with a mustard-type sauce, cranberry jam, and butter). Overall, it was an amazing experience that will definitely have me coming back in the future!
This was an outstanding experience. The Waldhaus is an accessory building located only a few minutes by provided shuttle from the main motel. It must have been a gardener's cottage or some such at one time, but is now an intimate and wonderful restaraunt, specializing in fondue. We had the "experiance" which starts with a choice of appetizer fondues, continues with a choice (again) of schnitzels, and crescendos with a plate of various fruits and goodies to dip in a pot of the most marvelous chocolate fondue. A bar downstairs and a well stocked wine cellar provide libations. During a four star vacaction, accross two provinces and three Fairmont hotels, we judge this to have been our favorite meal. It was exquisite in every detail. No description would be complete without a shout out to our waitress, Ellen. Her helpful suggestions and pleasant banter demonstrated she is not only an exceptional hostess, but also excellent company we will remember the entire experience as one of our favorites.
Spectacular views and excellent German fare.
Love the european feel of this little cottage in the woods. The Waldaus wings in the pub are the best I've ever had. The fondue upstairs is lovely.
Awesome scenery. This is a must to see and experience some great food with a beer .
Be sure to check out the Waldhaus patio before summer is over, great comfort food in the pub, excellent service, amazing views!
The best patio in the bow valley.
Must dine. The food was fantastic and authentic. The beer on tap was great FYI The pub is walk in but you can book a table upstairs. Mike, our waiter and the entire staff were on point. This is a must visit
Enjoyable for all. Great restaurant upstairs and pub downstairs
Very good food. A combination of Swiss, Bavarian and Austrian style cuisine. Generous portions. Pleasant and efficient service , tables distanced. Nice patio with amazing view.
Imagine sitting at the base of the Rocky Mountains, with a view of the golf course and the Bow River below. You lift your stein of beer up and see it glistening in the sun. You realize you are at the best beer haus in Alberta. What do you hear, nothing... because you are out in nature enjoying a beer with the most spectacular view you’ve ever had.
Came upon this gem today completely by accident. Was hiking near bow falls and followed a sign up to the pub. We sat in the patio and it had a great view of the golf course, mountains and river. Service was good and the food was amazing. I had the Waldhaus cheeseburger and it was absolutely the best cheeseburger I have had in a long time. The bill at the end was pricy but worth it.
Nice quiet pub. Wonderful setting. Not the cheapest, but the burger and the schnitzel sandwich were amazing.
Pub was open, spacious. Nachos we're a hit with everyone. Good German beer as well in 20oz, 40oz, 60oz, or a boot of 64oz!!!
Our favourite restaurant at the hotel! We have been there multiple times and in addition to the amazing food, the service always makes us feel like royalty. For our last visit I had made a very exceptional request, and was not expecting it to be something they could do for us. I don't want to go into details because I am sure it is not something they would want to make a habit of, but suffice to say, they went out of their way to accommodate us and helped make a very special occasion absolutely perfect. If you like delicious German food and impeccable service you are not allowed to pass this place up while you are in Banff. Highly recommended!
A great casual place with delicious food. There is a nice 'round room' at one end with beautiful mountain views. It's a great place to relax in the mid- to late afternoon and enjoy the scenery. There are lots of tvs playing sports shows. The warm pretzels are the perfect comfort food. The burgers and sausages are amazing! The hotel has its own butchery where they make the sausages and patties from scratch. The pub then adds spices to the burgers, drops shredded Gouda cheese on them and bake them under a Salamander where 'everything works together' to make a melt-in-your-month burger. Round it off with a big German beer!
Little bit pricey but it is in Banff. Awesome little spot and the service is on point. The food was great and unique and the beer brewed by big rock was cold and refreshing again a bit on the pricy side. The cocktails were awesome as well and the girlfriend loved her maple coffee liqueur. Such a good little spot if you are skating or tobogganing down the hill.
Separate Restaurant and Pub located on the golf course of Fairmont Banff Springs
Fantastic view and great service
It’s the best palace in Banff!
Absolutely top notch German food with the associated top notch pricing. Bring your wallet, because this place is very expensive but well worth it. Like everything Fairmont, it's just that little bit better than the best place you've been, but is unfortunately a lot more expensive than the "little bit" that it is better. Frankly, the sky-high pricing is all that keeps this place from being a 5 star. Now to be fair, the entrees are very generously portioned and are actually fairly reasonably priced. If you can avoid the alcohol and desserts, you might just get out of there with a fairly manageable bill. Now, all that being said.... Black truffle cheese fondue. People, you must have this. It is stunning. Very rich. They recommend it for two, but it will easily be an appropriate appetizer for four. We were very full and didn't even finish all the bread. Interestingly, it came with effectively an entire loaf of bread, and only a very small portion of green apples and mushrooms. I am told that the chef is still experimenting with portions. Either way, this is one spendy fondue but I must recommend it. The jagerschnitzel was also fantastic--a proper schnitzel with a veal cutlet butterflied and pounded flat with light, airy breaded coating. Delicious and rich mushroom sauce on top with some nicely authentic spatzle and cabbage. While I do not recommend drinks if you want to keep your tab low, they have a great selection of surprisingly fresh German brews including Hacker-Pschorr--one of my favourite schnitzel accompaniments. Service was fantastic, our waiter had a great sense of humor and dispensed with some of the stuffyness found elsewhere in the Banff Springs. Great guy, very accommodating.
Food and service were great
Nice but did not know was there stumbled onto.
My favourite place to eat in banff!!
Amazing views, excellent service, and decent food.
When I die and become a ghost, I want to spend my time here. I love this place.
Was here yesterday great patio view and the food Is just amazing and servers are really friendly!
Great, prompt service with good food. Excellent gluten-free options, they even have gluten-free breading for the schnitzel!
Fun place to eat
Nice spot to have beer or wine and appetizers. You can lounge or eat and run. Staff are very accommodating.
Aweosme German spot , bit pricy
Only been here a few times, never to eat, but every time it is 10/10. The staff are amazing (Shoutout to Oli!), fantastic and unique drink choices. It’s just a very special little place to have some drinks.
Stunning view from the patio, friendly staff, absolutely delicious food. Their schnitzel is amazing, the fondue is quite recommendable and the potato soup is sublime. We loved going to Waldhaus so much that we went there twice in our 4 night stay at the Fairmont Springs. We are definitely coming back for more next time we visit Banff.
Great View of Spray River and Valley. Nice German Pub.
Good atmosphere
While being a bit more expensive then it should be, the Waldhaus is a nice and quiet place where you can meet with friends or admire the nice mountain views. Be sure to try the wings, they're amazing.
Food was wonderful and generous portions. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Good place to have some drinks and watch a sporting event. Lively crowd, when there's a big game on you will here the crowd cheer. Very casual place. They offer a 100 ounce Das Boot if you are up for the challenge.
We had a great time and the waiter was so nice
Th me Waldhaus offers a unique dining experience with world class food and service wrapped in loveably personal yet professional Fairmont style. The menu is, as best I can describe, German with Swiss influence representative of the heritage of the adventures that contributed to founding the Fairmont Banff Springs and the loyal following those cultures still have for the Alberta Fairmont’s today. Whatever your pallet I’m confident in saying you’ll have a treasured experience dining at the Waldhaus, so book this well in advance through the hotel concierge so that you do not miss out.
Awesome restaurant a hidden gem
Just want to commend Oli at the bar. Great service, very knowledgeable about beers and everything local. Very personable with a dry sense of humor. Have always loved coming here, but he is definitely a plus!! Thanks Oli!
Casual pub setting with excellent food and service. Great place to watch hockey and golf
(Translated) The terrace with the most beautiful view in Banff. Beware of beer size! Do not use metric units but US ????. Personal perfektny. Prices are above average. …
Reservation desk did not provide accurate parking instructions for winter parking. Now we know that there is a small lot past the large parking lot labeled for golf course, they do not maintain the stairs at the main lot so they close it during the winter. When we called reservation desk they told us to go to the hotel and take the shuttle. We had to backtrack pay for parking and take a shuttle down which caused us to be late for our reservation. The waldhaus experience is a lot of food but very good.
Servings were super generous! had the wings with blue cheese sauce, chicken schnitzel and the sausage. maybe we ordered a bit too much but we definitely left very satisfied.
Good food and good beer
Great location with amazing views. Food is tasty and German themed. Recommend window seating or outdoors on the patio.
One would expect a much better experience considering it is a part of Fairmont Banff Springs. View is good, food is alright, but service was indifferent. Bathroom smells nice.
Lovey laid back venue nestled in the woods overlooking the golf course. Serves German Canadian food and portions are hearty and tasty. The chicken wings are delicious as was the sausage platter. Highly recommend if in the area.
Review is for the Pub: Terrific place for a beer and some German cooking. A little pricey, but hey it’s Banff. Fantastic view from patio, and interior is very cozy. Nice bathrooms. Service is friendly. Five thumbs up!
Overpriced for what it is. Sure, the service is 5 stars and the stuffiness while being served screams “I don’t really belong here” (even though we did) — but for the actual food and beverage “prices to quality ratio”, I’m going 1 or 2 stars. It is far too expensive for the actual items. I mean, the fondue was good, but I could have easily made fondu and tiny onions for like a tenth of the price. Haha. But they were definitely delicious and original. Just very expensive. 10 of us did a family style meal where everyone got a plate after the fondue with the expectation of letting others try it. We did. I didn’t really like much, honestly. I ate a ton of different things, and just thought it was all, “meh, pretty good”, but far from AMAZING! As the reviews and prices may suggest. Hey, maybe veal schnitzel is super expensive or something, but to charge $45 for what I would assume would be a $20 item at most, is above and beyond a ripoff. So, basically, you are paying for the atmosphere of Banff, and stuffy, albeit very accommodating service. If you’ve got money to burn, this is definitely a check off the bucket list. Highly recommended for those who have a private jet. ????
Great place to eat and drink and relax.
Some of the best beer in town. Food is also great. Great place to get together with friends.
We had the Wurst plate and the schnitzel - both were fantastic. The interior is a little dank and the price is a bit steep but can’t argue with the quality of the food we ate.
(Translated) I loved. (Original) J'ai adoré.
Excellent wings
Beautiful outdoor patio with stunning views. Great German food and beer.
Very authentic Bavarian cuisine !
Really nice atmosphere and fantastic food. The schnitzel is delicious.
OMG pretzels.
Authentic
Our last night of a 3 night stay at the Fairmont was a pleasant experience here at the Waldhaus. The Black Forrest cake was not what I expected visually but was amazing. The schnitzel took me back many years to my time in Austria which was an added bonus.
The German beer and Fairmont service and quality never disappoint.
Be careful here as there is both a sports bar and a rather fancy restaurant here and they are not really the same place. For my part, I went to the restaurant. To keep it simple, it is pricey and hard to find but I'd you're willing, the atmosphere, service and food are worth it. It feels very much like an old time hunting lodge and does take you to a different time in the winter. A massive elk head is mounted on the far wall and vintage patterned chairs really complete the feel. We had "the experience" which will run you $80 but was a delicious 4 courses. If you're of discerning taste and in for fondue then you're better off here than in the more proletarian grizzly house which will jam you in and feature a more novelty-style approach. The classic fondue was delicious and an extremely healthy sized portion schnitzel will fill even the most expansive stomach. Then fill that secondary "dessert" stomach with a lovely, and not overly sweet chocolate fondue. Overall, staff was friendly, courteous and thoughtful. Very accommodating of allergies. Knocked a star off mainly because it is slightly overpriced TBH and the signage to find the place, especially in the dark, is terrible. P. S. Initial starter was a salad; nice but nothing special.
Cool old building, a great spot after skating!
Excellet selection of German beers and the food was superb and authentic. The view is also stunning from the patio. Will definitely be back!
Loved the atmosphere
Can be a little quiet, which denies Waldhaus 5 stars. Originally built as the clubhouse for the adjacent golf course, the building and location has character. Staff are helpful and polite, and for casual dining, this is the best choice within the Banff Springs hotel complex. Pretty good choice of drinks, and a fine pool table too...
Came in, quite a few servers saw us eye to eye but did not even smile or greet us hello. Sat on the table and waited for a while. People arrived beside us and they got helped first and only just realized that we came in and sat on the table. Food was lukewarm and I would say it tastes a bit better than average but is ok. Server gave us the wrong food but he took forever to come back so we just ate it. Bar is only half full and I'm so disappointed with the service. Would not go back here again and would not recommend this to anyone
One of the nicest decks in town
Fantastic Wurst plate, goes very well with the HP gold!
It's all about the ambiance here. The food is solid, but doesn't rearrange the brain cells. Enjoy the space and the view.
Amazing Fondue and Nachos (also massive portion).... could barely finish half.
Its OK. Its a bit expensive for what it is. Not overly exciting place. I normally enjoy German food and the food is definitely decent just a little pricey.
Love this place. Great food great place to see the the views and 15th tee box right there tonsee the golfers have a go at hitting iver the Spray Creek.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant with an amazing amount of history. Highly recommend checking this place out if you find yourself in Banff. It, from my understating, was the original golf course clubhouse... I could be totally wrong here but nevertheless it is great architectural appeal and the food and service match it’s elegance. Make sure you make a reservation and come hungry!

Wow just wow
I recently discovered this place with my friend when we came to Banff in December. Such a cozy atmosphere, the food is a bit pricey but very worth it and the service was just AMAZING! I need to come back here again for sure!
First time visit. Great food, service and scenery. We' ll definitely be returning soon!
Great pints of beer, comfort food and a relaxed bar
Been to both the restaurant and pub. The restaurant had fast service and tasty food. The pub was great as it is more casual than the rest of the places around the hotel. They also offer Das Boot (64 oz) beer!
The diversity (Germany & French ) of foods matched with the wines, beer and overlooking a speculator view made for an exceptional eating experience.
I had the pork chop and it was great. My wife had the pasta, it was okay. The wine, dessert and service were great.
Really expensive but it's part of the Banff Springs hotel so I guess that's to be expected. Try the wings! Somehow they manage to get them saucy and crunchy at the same time. Good beers too. Be careful when ordering drinks that aren't on the menu. My wife had a mamosa the was ok but not worth $16!!!
Awesome secluded bar with massive beer boots on sale!
My wife and I dined here on Saturday March 27th, 2021. We had the fondue set meal and it was amazing. The service was absolutely excellent and the Waldhaus decor is casual yet inspiring.
Ordered the Schnitzel with mushrooms. It was very tasty and the portions were very big. I had a hard time even eating half of it. It was a good snack when I got home.:)
One of the best fondues!! Great service and great atmosphere.
The best chocolate fondue ever!
Nice spot! We were seated really quickly and the patio was spread out nicely. Out waitress was quick and helpful too The cheeseburger and potato salad was very filling. Great location and food overall!
Best place I went to while in Canada! Loved the hike up to it!
A bit tricky to find, but worth the small effort. The Waldhaus restaurant (upstairs) and the the Waldhaus Pub (enter downstairs, around the back) isn't in the Fairmont but instead is located down the descending stairs behind the Fairmont, down near the river. Food & drinks were great and the bartender (Joe) was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Had the raclette while enjoying the vintage German bierhaus vibe that's not so much "dated" as it is vintage. Looking forward to getting back here again.
Beautiful view, exciting menu choices.
Good atmosphere and incredible scenery, but outrageous prices
decent size of patio with view, they have best onion rings in Banff
Amazing!!! We love coming here almost every year ans consider it to be our hidden gem!
Great service, excellent food and drinks and beautiful location.
So cannot say anything about main dishes but had a great couple pints of cold German draft and a tasty pretzel platter. Hit the spot, will be back.
An exceptional experience. Service and food beyond reproach. Julie, our server, was friendly and knew just when attention was necessary. The fondue experience was amazing. Looking forward to our next visit!
Good beer Good food High prices but it's Banff
The best patio good food
Great service, amazing view! Das Boot!
Very historical looking place, very traditional appearance German Style restaurant and pub. Beautiful outdoor seating, views are stunning.
good food albeit a bit pricey. not easy to find if not local, poor location directions.
We had such a great time eating fondue. We had the main fondue course and also the dessert course. So much food! Managed to finish all of the dessert though! Out server was so wonderful. Getting here was a bit difficult. Parking was hard to find, but we managed.
This is the best place! We go everytime we are in Banff. We have some of our best vacation memories here. The food is amazing and they go above and beyond for with the service. They go the extra mile and even went out our if their way to ensure that they got my favorite drink even though they were out. Kat is one of the best servers we have ever had. Thank you Waldhaus. You never disappoint. Can't wait for next time.
Excellent German food in a beautiful setting in Banff overlooking the golf course. Watched three male elk fighting as we left .... a rare opportunity to see the beauty in nature up close and in person.
it is a great little restaurant at bannf we come here althe time it is alway busine ., some tiem need reservation , the food is good , nice plave nice view bti it is busy
The fondue was delicious and i was so happy that they had gluten-free bread! Robbie was our waiter and he was fabulous.
Great place for a beer. Talk to Ollie he knows his stuff about Banff and area
Generous helping for fondue!!!!
Typical restaurant with german cusine. In the middle of the forrest. It belongs to the Fairmont Banff Springs and ist amazing. The service is great and i loved the food in winter. Ask for a pear Schnaps.
Delicious fondue menu in a gorgeous location and friendly staff.
I have a soft spot for super German places, so this place would have to really screw up to get a bad review from me. Luckily it was awesome. …
Fun German pub
We loved the location and cute building the restaurant is located in, making it a unique experience. The service was good, but nothing stood out as fanatic as we have normally experienced with Fairmont dining. The cheese fondue was awesome, but everything else was not great, especially for the premium price we paid. Wouldn't recommend for dinner, but would definitely come back for drinks and fondue.
A hyped place but some servers do need some sort of racial bias training and understanding of passive aggression. We sat inside and ordered Fondue for 2. There weren’t a lot of people the waiters weren’t coming to check on us. Gary, one of the waiters, was treating us as naive and I personally felt offended. This personally has been one of my worst experience in our Banff trip. Asking to get the flame corrected for the Fondue was seeming like a big task. The food was good but asking for anything felt really painful. I am sad, I had high hopes from this place.
Great service , reasonable tasty schnitzel
Great food and atmosphere
Very nice pub with an AMAZING VIEW, I would recommend it to anyone and will probably go there again!
Beautiful setting, and wonderful menu. Best burgers in Banff
Good schnitzel
Jaeger schnitzel tasted just like Oma made. Best birthday ever!!
Superb food, and great beer and service. We went here after skating and it was perfect! Loved the proximity to the skating as well.
Good food, medium-high price
Waldhaus is located close to the Banff Springs Golf Course, hole 15, and is perfectly situated along the Bow River. The service we received was excellent and we really enjoyed our experience overall. The fondue was delicious and fun, and they have great wine/beer options.
Overpriced and underserved. The only good thing is the location. Uppity staff and unfriendly servers. Not like any other Fairmont I've been to. The 50 dollar valet parking was the crowning touch.
Understaffed. Long wait. Big wasp served up in one of our beverages. Not worth it.
Get ready for a long wait to be served food (almost 40 min, and that's for pub food). Service is ok. The one star is for the view otherwise you're just paying exorbitant prices for a terrible experience ($30 for a flight of beer?! Lol). They also charged one child an adult fee for the meal. Brutal.
Fun little German pub, a bit pricey but the views are amazing. Loved the pubchos!
Gorgeous views, good food and drinks.
Overpriced. Server and hostess were rude. My entire group (4) ordered drinks, appies, and food each which are severely overpriced. A friend pulled out food while we waited because he has to eat due to illness. Server rudely told him to put it away, then I guess told the hostess who promptly came running over to say the same thing even though my friend had put his food away at his point. I get that there are policies but you can be nice, especially because we all ordered a lot and not just loitering and using a table to eat outside food. Will not come back and will tell others not to.
Sunny day - great food and beer on the patio. EXCELLENT!!
I was very excited to try the cheese fondue but was extremely disappointed from the first bite. The first flavours to come through are the salty goodness of the cheese, however it is almost immediately overpowered by the flavour of the white wine leaving an unpleasant bitter flavour in your mouth and leaving me ultimately dissatisfied and disappointed. The flavour of the white wine was very strong and overpowered the whole dish to the point where I couldn't bring myself to eat it. In my opinion cheese fondue should taste like the cheese in it firstly, with any other flavours only complimenting and never overpowering. The schnitzel was very basic and the pickerel was a tad overcooked, but our entrees overall were incredibly bland. The staff member that sat us and our server seemed unwelcoming and distracted. We were left waiting for our starter, our entrees, and desserts. We would finish a course and wait quite a while until finally being noticed. It was often that another staff member would notice us waiting or finished eating and would clear our plates and assure us our server would be right over, but she never was. I would have been understanding of this if they were quite busy, but they were really not. All of our food was served lukewarm, which was especially disappointing with the fonue. Would not recommend and will not return.
I was lucky enough to travel to Banff during a business trip. One of the places I stumbled across was Waldhaus when looking for a different dining experience. It's hard to find places that have Pickerel on the menu. It was delightful and the taste was amazing. I would highly recommend visiting here.
Great location and cool ambience but honestly not impressed by the staff. Our waiter was straight up rude. I was there celebrating an engagement and my birthday and they did nothing for it which was a let down. The cheese fondue was phenomenal but do not get the sausage add on, not worth it at all it's like 5 slices of salami that weren't good.
Fantastic food and service, everything on the menu is delicious with a great selection of german beets.
Good food and service. Nice views from the patio. Nice spot for lunch on a sunny day.
Probably the best views you can get from a decent German style pub in Canada. Two of us walked in at 3pm on Father’s Day with no wait for a table on the patio. 2hrs later; Many beers and a sample of sausages and soft pretzels were consumed after 15km of hiking. I noted dogs are not allowed on the patio which wasn’t cool. Also I recommend the 32oz beer to start and the 20oz after that. Make sure to sit facing the Rockies and not he golf course. We walked in after hiking looking like a hot mess. No problem. The bathroom is close and you can clean up. The parking is $$$ and you still have to walk from the hotel to the pub which is a ~5-7min walk.
Stellar little venue over looking the golf course and the ice rink in winter. They even have a fire going on the patio on cold days
This is a fantastic little gem tucked away that most people don't seem to know about! If your looking for some amazing German style pretzels, schnitzel and German draft beer - then this is your go to place. Oh yeah, you also can't beat those views on the patio either ???? will definitely be back again!
Food and the view are both amazing!
Authentic German cuisine and beer set in a beautiful environment.
Nice atmosphere and view!
Great place to kickoff Octoberfest!
Good food and service, but not the type of "German" food I was expecting. Maybe my idea of German food is not the "fancy" type served here. Anyway, it is a very good place to visit.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food and great service!
Great fish n chips. Huge portions. World class view of the Rockies
Love this pub! The view is the killer and Elk was a bonus, luckily we saw a herd!
Our server was super friendly. Amazing dishes with a great view.
Beautiful
It’s great place with great person. Beer & food is wonderful. And Sarah served my family, she made my day wonderful. People who serve you is most important thing. Thanks for your great effort. You made me smile all day and even now.
This place is a fantastic, hidden gem overlooking the golf course with Mountain View’s. Make sure to ask for Molly. She was an amazing server. We loved her. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Molly!
Advertised as heated patio, not existent! Had my most expensive Radler, beer with lemonade for 14,- !! Really! That is a joke! For a can that you can buy for 3,50 in the store! I was also sick for a whole day after i had the Poutine last week! I can NOT recommended this place! And you can not have fondue outside !! Another joke of the century
Why is it that restaurants with amazing views never have good food? Must you sacrifice food for the view every time? The view is amazing if you''re sitting on the patio: the river, the alpine air... This is dining al fresco at its best. But the food was atrocious. Dry sausages, the seedy mustard was off, there was hair in our desert fondue (they did replace it). Also, the food portions were very small and the pints of beer were pretty large, which is a recipe for disaster. I wish there was a bigger beer selection from Canadian breweries and non-german food options. It's just too German, for my taste. We are in the Canadian rockies after all...
The beer was great. The nachos were tasty and the portion large. The chicken wings were okay and a bit dry. The view off the patio is what makes this a four star place for me. The food is pricy as you can expect.
Great food and great service.
The food was very good and the building is really cool. The patio at the pub was great. The pub service was great, but the restaurant service wasn't good.
I can’t understand how this place is rated so highly, aside from the fantastic location. Chicken schnitzel was reminiscent of a McDonald’s happy meal, so not bad, just not worth $30. My $19 Caesar was undrinkable. When the server asked us how everything was, we responded that it was “ok.” She disappeared and came back 20 minutes later and acted like nothing had happened. Didn’t notice or at least didn’t comment on the Caesar I didn’t touch. There’s lots of great places to eat in Banff... this isn’t one of them.
Great service, amazing food!
Great atmosphere and staff. Went in for “one quick drink” and ended up staying for three. We really enjoyed talking to Josef the bartender and experiencing the friendly vibe.
A bit of a magical escape for me. It wasn't easy for me to find, so when I did find the place, it was akin to finding the Kingdom of Narnia. The first day I found it by parking in the (expensive) visitors parking lot at the far end of the hotel premises. The next day I found it (inadvertently) by taking the 2 hour relaxed walk from Banff town to see the Bow falls. Both times I sat on the pub patio and ordered the German beer in their unlisted 12oz size. Delicious. The breakfast was also excellent. (The rosti wasn't the Swedish rosti I was expecting, but the potato patties I got were good.) The view from the patio is breathtaking... Gorgeous location. Definitely recommended if you're up for the adventure. (Not cheap, but I wasn't expecting it to be.)
Cheese fondue with mushrooms and truffles is really flavourful. If you enjoy mushrooms, you must go with that option. The service was great, we ordered according to his recommendations.
Most likely the best view in Banff from the lovely patio area. Drinks were great and there were plenty of choices. Really appreciate the Beyond Meat burger as a vegetarian option. The photo of the Elk about to cross Spray River was taken from our table! Amazing
(Translated) A small improvised stop some chicken wings a bloody and elk in front of us. Very good service beautiful view. (Original) Un petit arrêt improvisé quelques ailes de poulets un bloody et les wapitis devant nous. Très bon service belle vue.
They have the best beer and wings.
Beautiful view . Being a little too expensive is the only down fall , but that's Banff
Fun staff. You are welcome even if you are not a guest at the Fairmont.
Hidden spot in the heart of Banff with delicious German cousine
Great place with great food and service. Beautiful views tucked away behind the Banff Springs. Just wish they hadn't taken the beef broth fondue off the menu...that was a dinning experience like no other.
Food was terrible so disappointing don't ever ever eat here
Absolutely beautiful
Really great wings.
(Translated) Almost everything has been written about the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, so we turn to the hidden Waldhaus restaurant. A shuttle then drove us over the Golf Course Road. A pretty complex in the "Bavarian style", and an outside terrace with fantastic views. The menu was also Bavarian and so there was: the obligatory Paulaner wheat beer, with a very good taste, Yes and then, pretzel with a blood and liver sausage. The pretzel was already poured with a curry sauce (?) And the sausages tasted as they looked. See my picture. It was a total letdown The 3rd + 4th Stars only belong to the facility and the view.
Very nice setting behind Banff Springs Hotel.
We came during COVID-19, they did a good job with safety precautions The whole atmosphere and ambience is really amazing, I appreciated the views on the patio, and the decor in the restaurant. The cheese fondue was really good, tasty, and a pretty good value. My husband, our 1 year old, and myself felt the appetizer size was enough to be a fairly filling meal. The biggest disappointment was the chocolate fondue. It literally tasted like they melted dark chocolate Hershey chocolate chips. I’ve made better chocolate fondue at my house with milk chocolate from the grocery store. The sides to dip in the chocolate fondue were fine, but the chocolate itself was really not tasty at all considering it cost $29.
Really good experience. Hacker Schorr beer was great. The sausages were incredible and that take on a Black Forest cake!!!! Yum! ...and the view!
I visited Waldhaus with my family on a day trip to Banff. We arrived right at opening. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We tried to sit on the patio but it was too windy for my son to enjoy so we moved inside. Shortly after out appetizer (soft pretzels with bacon butter and mustard, with a weissbier on the side) arrived my son was complaining of being cold, our server showed up with a soft blanket for him and saved the day. The small menu with it's clear focus on simple German cuisine and some standard pub fare mixed in, made choosing our meal quick and easy. My wife had the pork schnitzel and I had the bratwurst. All of our food was fantastic. I've never had a better bratwurst. The only thing I found myself wishing for was a hotter mustard. We could easily have spent all evening enjoying Waldhaus. I look forward to my next visit.
When we arrived we found out that my client, who is older, had to climb a steep incline followed by stairs, no accessible entrance or even a drop off zone. If you approach the restaurant from either of the other access points there are quite a number of stairs to deal with. When, my client's representative phoned it was made clear that he has some mobility challenges. Thankfully, he was able to make his way with the help of a friend, and a walker, both directions. This place is on his bucket list,as he had never been there. He and his companion said that the food was great, but it would have been nice to, at the very least, be forewarned by the person on the phone. When I phoned I was not given clear directions and finally someone told me that it was basically a trek to get there. I saw the stairs, they are treacherous.
We had a fantastic meal here. It was difficult to fault anything. Typical German fare and delicious. Not cheap but you're at the Fairmont haha what do you expect.
Family friendly pun with excellent service!!!
Excellent food, and service by Ellen was terrific!!
My girlfriend and I stopped by to have some Hacker-Pschorr beer while camping as she has visited Munich many times. Upon arrival we were immediately asked if we were guests at the Fairmont, this did not bother me as I assumed guests have the option of adding it onto the room bill. However after ordering our beers we were not waited on once. I would understand guests would have the main attention if it was full but there were 4 tables worth of people including us. We spent an hour and a half in the restaurant, and were not asked if we wanted food or how our beers were. Very disappointed as we felt completely unwanted and disrespected just because we weren’t guests at the hotel.
Good food, big portions
Best patio views in all of Banff decent food, resort hotel prices
Love this hidden bar
The food here is always so delicious!!!
Food was excellent and staff nice and friendly Outside seating during the day provided beautiful views just above the 15th Tee and the beer was nice and cold.
Food was good, great vibe. Noticed many of the Banff Springs employees go here, good sign of being in the right place.
Great selection of tap beer and the best strudel in town. Grab a table on the patio and enjoy magnificent views of the Bow River.
Great pub! Beautiful views! The staff is very friendly! Try and sit at the bar for some of Joe's drink creations and jokes/stories!
Friendly staff, gorgeous view. We stopped in for a drink
Best food and beer
We have eaten here several times when staying at the Fairmont. Great food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere! Highly recommended and worth leaving the hotel to find this gem!
Surprisingly good burger. Great views if you sit outdoors.
Nice food and helpful staff
Food was lacking flavor
Schnitzel was yummy and ambience was excellent. If offered bread, accept it for the pretzels alone. My only suggestion/advice for potential diners would be to arrive extra early if not staying at the hotel as to take advantage of the shuttle service. We self-parked and then had to scamper a good distance (downhill & down stairs) to make our reserved time instead of waiting for the next scheduled shuttle. Less of a problem for me, more of an issue for my 75 year old mom.
Great place for an appropriate Litre in the pub! Pröst!
Amazing food, attentive and professional service, restaurant setting is beautiful. We finished off our night with an Apple Strudel and it was to die for! Overall a very wonderful dining experience.
Excellent Swiss style food
Best pork schnitzel I've ever had. Get a boot.
Great food and drink
Superb.
Great service Bartender was extremely knowledgeable!!
Food was good, staff were amazing....
Amazing French hot pot (fondue) and even better service. Probably the best in Banff/Calgary. Would definitely recommend
Great wings and service. Always enjoy Banff!
I cheery traditional Swiss-German style restaurant. Excellent food an service.
Oh My gawd. This is as nice as I imagined. Great service. Quality drinks. And a lovely atmosphere. I always wanted to go here, it just took 27 years to go inside ???? Lovely Lovely place to eat and drink.
Great for foot ball sundays
Most tourist have no idea about this place. This is the true gem of the hotel. Classic food with wonderful service! Well done!
Bob on .
I loved the Wald has restaurants snitzel !
Great patio seating, but service was slow. The bratwurst were good, but I originally ordered a pork sandwich off the menu and it was terrible. I sent it back and they graciously took it off the menu and instead I ordered just a plain brat with mustard and that was fine. Not terrible, just average which is a shame for such a beautiful setting. A one-and-done for me. I used to give better reviews when I drank ... haha. Since slowing way down, I'm actually tasting the food and not reviewing with beer goggles on.
Awesome nachos
Fantastic place for a couples dinner out! Have a beer in the basement pub first. Great selection of German beer!
The view is absolutely stunning and the Mooseheads were very cold. While I have had better chicken schnitzel, it was a worthy effort and the fries were crisp. Our server was friendly and attentive. Be forewarned, and this will sound crazy, if you don’t like squirrels and chipmunks, eat inside. They aren’t afraid of humans and will climb onto your table for a nibble. Heck, they will climb on you.
Been going to Banff my entire life and didn't know about this place, somewhat hidden in its own little corner. Great place for lunch, informal with lots of character, German/Alps focused menu that reflects Fairmont pricing and Fairmont quality despite how informal it feels. Recommend it!
Excellent pizza .... super service !!
For 34 bucks I thought it was way over priced. Fries werent good schnitzel was okay.
Nice service, nice beer! Portions of the food too big for me, enough for two persons. Quality very good. Fantastic view from the terrace. I could recommend this place!
Great service by staff, ordered the spaetzle and couldn’t have been happier. It was smoky due to fires in BC but still enjoyed the whole experience.
Good German beer on tap and views to die for. Price was as steep as Rundle though.
Took 90 minutes to get our food after ordering. Multiple groups were seated after us and finished eating before we were served. The fries and schnitzel were warm but not hot at all. The wings and pretzels were great, but overall not worth the price. $25+ for an entree
Patio and food were simply perfect.
Very cool and cozy place. Loved the view?
Great German Pub and food!!
I was intrigued by the description of this place - but my expectations were tempered. Until I arrived - what a delightful blend of old and new. The service was excellent & the fondue delicious (I had the truffle type per the server's recommendation). A special evening - not to be missed while you are staying at the banff springs hotel.
Ate & drank at the pub. Food not really worth the price but that's the Fairmont. Wife had the poutine, very salty. I had the Schnitzel Sandwich and enjoyed it. Great atmosphere, has TVs, projector screen & one billiard table.
Amazing patio for an afternoon bevy. I did wish they were open for lunch.
Interesting historic building below the Banff springs Hotel. They have a small but good German beer selection (Hacker-Pschorr and Erdinger) and good soft pretzels (not quite original German but good for north America). Didn't try any of the other food so can't say anything about their kitchen really. The prices are even for Banff standards through the roof. So if you don't mind that it's a great place to have a few drinks and get some German inspired food.
Amazing food I had the schnitzle with mushroom cream sauce on the side BEST EVER! Ambiance and service amazing!! Would highly recommend we will be back!!!
Didn't enjoy the fondue at all. Told the waiter and he didn't seem to care. Gave us a 20 percent discount on a dish we didn't like... The fish was mediocre. For an expensive restaurant it was a huge disappointment.
Food was so good! We had the schnitzel and a sausage plate (gluten free!). The kitchen really knows what they're doing
Great views. Very peaceful on the patio. Food is a bit over-priced for the quality
Food was average at best and expensive. We asked several times to put the umbrella up for some sun relief and were refused due to "wind" but there was barely even a breeze. It was a beautiful patio day. We eventually put the umbrella up on our own. The Manager came out and closed the umbrella saying it was not safe and the sun would be behind the building soon. Again, there was virtually zero wind. Typical Fairmont customer service was definitely absent today.
Schnitzel is the best and come hungry because u will leave full!
FANTASTIC I Can't wait to go there again!!!
Amazing service, beautiful spot! The bartender was awesome.
5 stars for the delicious cocktails and the beautiful views! Had the best peach Bellini of my life. I then went on to taste my friends caramelized pineapple margarita and it blew my mind.
Great service and views
This restaurant has a european feel to it. Really like it. The upstairs decor though is not consistent throughout. Chairs are different from one table to the next. I ordered the schnitzel and it was good...but not $45 good. We had a drink in the basement. It is a great atmosphere. It has a very mature feel to it and more of a european feel to it. I would definitely grab a drink here next time I visit banff.
Fun pub in Banff
Great pub. Great atmosphere. And the staff is amazing.
This place very nice
18 year anniversary, my wife and I spent a few hours at the bar with Joe, who actually spent time talking with us and entertaining us. The food was great, the drinks were great, and the service was stellar. We come by every year for the same. Pay a visit and hang out with Joe, you won't regret it!
Great menu, very cozy and an amazing view.
(Translated) A German restaurant on the grounds of the Springs Hotel. White beer and sausage plates are placed, and the waitress is friendly. The price is not too high and can be used without reservation. …
We had the fondue platter which was the most expensive meal on the menu. The cheese was nice but having paid extra for meat, we would have expected to at least get a proper amount of it. To be honest, the pickels and the the meat looked like they came from a supermarket platter and there was no variety. We essentially got pickels, onions, potatoes and some meat for 120 $. It was my birthday, and I feel a bit robbed
Patio is awesome!
Fairmount prices are to be expected but the view, service and most importantly, food can not be beat. Very happy they are now open after lockdown
The schnitzel was done to perfection. The apple toffee strudel was excellent. Wonderful service. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Fantastic experience. Beautiful setting on the river in the grounds of the Banff Springs Hotel. If the weather is nice - have a drink on the deck overlooking the 15th tee.
(Translated) Very honest FOOD with an exceptional view! (Original) …
Food was excellent drink took a little while to arrive
The service was distinctly below average. We waited at our table for over 10 minutes before anyone said hi or took our drink order. Our drinks took a really long time to arrive. A table that ordered after us got their drinks first. The food was perhaps slightly above average. Overall, I would expect a lot more from a Fairmont establishment.
We stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel and admittedly was too late to make a reso for any of their other restaurants for dinner. I had my temperature checked (covid precautions) and I was told to sit wherever I’d like. My server came over and asked if I was familiar with the QR code on the table to view the menu, I said I was but asked if they had a hard copy menu (I was pressed for time as I had an event to be at in 45 minutes) and I didn’t want to waste 5 minutes downloading an app to scan the code so I could see the menu. I didn’t think a hard copy menu was a huge deal, they can always be wiped down and sanitized but I was met with a VERY rude server who made comments about my phone not working or me not being able to work a phone. Keep in mind I’m in my late 20’s and he’s closer to 50, so shaming me over the technology my generation coined was quite comical. I restated that it was a simple question and he could easily say no to my request instead of being so rude. He stormed off and I was left to my downloading to pull up a menu. I’ve served tables for years and was ready to chalk it up to a bad night but he ignored me completely after that. I had to ask HIM if he could take our order after about 15 minutes of waiting. I would’ve been able to forgive the atrocious service if the food was any good but it disappointed all of us. $26 burger was one of the worst I’ve had, the $34 schnitzel was like bland leather and the $21 pretzel was ok except the cheese it comes with is awful. How can CHEESE be awful? It’s cheese. 10/10 would never eat here again. Ever.
We 4 got there at 11 and had our choice of tables. Wonderful hosts, friendly and fun. Eggs Florentine on Rosti delicious Eggs Benedict with smoked trout on Rosti even better... Mimosas and coffee...loved it all
Very disappointing.
Authentic!
Service and food was great.
The view is phenomenal
Food was good, service was subpar. Staff are not friendly or welcoming.
Cool little bar a very short walk away from the Banff Springs. The service was on point and we were never left waiting for drinks or food. The have a good selection of both domestic and imported beers. The food was also very good I would recommend the Schnitzel and the pretzels with the cheese dip.
Spectacular patio.
Most expensive dinner we have ever had but by far worth every penny. Never been so satisfied with food and service as we were here.
Loved the German beer selection and the pulled boar sandwich. Decor made me feel like I was in Germany
Good food and impeccable service. Always a nice treat when staying at Banff Springs or just in Banff.
Good food great view
Service was excellent. Ambiance was exceptional. We had the waldhaus experience. Cheese fondue was great. The schnitzel was quite oily, not something we would ever eat again. Dessert fondue was really good. I would go back, to try anything but the schnitzel.
Great meal and atmosphere. Waldhaus Schweinschnitzel with the jäeger (mushroom-onion cream sauce) finish. I can't remember the name of the beverage, but it tasted like a blackberry mojito! ???? If you like fondue without the dark, smokey & greasy atmosphere, try the Waldhaus, you won't be disappointed.
The staff is friendly and very accommodating (we missed our reservation time due to a mix up). Unfortunately the food was mediocre and expensive. My spaetzle had no flavor, fondue was ok, and the ragout was extremely oily.
Dinner was fantastic. We had the fondue and it was great.
Breathtaking view. Forever carved into my memory. And the food stealing chipmunks are adorable.
A real treat!! Authentic flavors, tasty fondue, terrific schnitzel, and delightfully pleasant service in an intimate, yet casual, environment. Julie, our server, could not have been nicer. OMG, try at least one of their signature cocktails. A very talented bartender.
Food and service excellent
Much nice place. Many good time!!!
Food was good. Great location. Decor is drab and needs an update.
What an awesome place! Good food, great people!
We visited the pub for dinner during our stay at the hotel. Such a nice cosy atmosphere, tasty food, good german beer and our server Joe could not have been more attentive - he gave us so many suggestions for the rest of us trip, and had great chat. Thanks Joe!
Perfect to sit outside on a sunny day and enjoy the view over the golf course and the mountains. Variety of traditional German food. I had the Spätzle which were delicious! And super friendly staff.
Beautiful location, wonderful view. Pub food was excellent. Family friendly.
If you got the budget, a dinner at this place is a lovely way to finish a day of exploring. Service is top notch, with detailed answers to every question. The cheese fondue is far better then the one on the main Avenue.
Awesome service, all the food was delicious and the beer from Germany was top notch.
Food and German beer are very delicious, view is fantastic !!! Perfect spot!
We had an absolute blast here! Great atmosphere, stunning views and setting, the food was delicious, beer was cold, and the service was amazing.
Fantastic night, fantastic service. Das boot was a great way to kick off the night. And was glad to kick off Oktoberfest. We'll see you next year.
One of the best experiences my family and I have had dining. Unforgettable.
We only went there for a drink, which was really good. The view is also very pretty. Some of the stuff were unfriendly.
Far from impressed, spechel was over baked and dry, soup was meh,...only person at the table that enjoyed their meal had bratwurst.
Meal was excellent and so was the service. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Banff.
I beleive the beer was poisoned. I drank 5 boots and felt quite sick the next day. Otherwise great place.
Great food, amazing service, beautiful view! A must try when you visit Banff.
The food was amazing and service is top notch! The servers were very kind, we were getting bit all day by mosquitoes and they offered my friend and I a cream against them and we couldn't have been more grateful. And the portions were large and so yummy!
Good wings and Germane food
Be ready for a small menu with authentic German dishes, so not lots of flavors and spices. The ambiance, decoration, and service are phenomenal! You will not regret it.
Fantastic!
I want to go there again. Great cheese raclett! And lots of schnitzel. Plus the cabbage and sourcraut (cabbage rolls though those are from eastern Europe mostly) are there too.
Delicious. If there's a wait, its totally worth it for the Bratwurst and mustard.
Great food and service!
Great bartender and can hold a good conversation, good food, and excellent atmosphere..
Mark was amazing! Excellent service, conversation and recommendations. He was a great part of mine and my parents experience here! Ask for mark and you wont regret it!
I love the location of this place and the nice small patio that overlooks the golf course in a secluded area down the hill from the hotel.
They were pretty cavalier with their ‘resident’ mouse. When people mentioned that there was a mouse running around the dining room the response was “oh yeah, he lives right over there” as if that’s an acceptable answer to a guests concerns about a RODENT scurrying under their feet. Yikes. Service was absolute garbage. Food wasn’t much better. Not worth the $90 for dinner for 2, that’s for sure. If you want terrible service, sub par food, and rodents crawling over your toes, give it a try.
Great location overlooking the meadow and guys pretending they can play golf off the 15th tee! Good food too.
The one thing they are known is fondue and they somehow didn't have any. We sat down ordered 2 large ones and they took our drink order and only then told us they ran out.
(Translated) You can't miss it, a super comforting place, very good beer and the sausage dish is second to none …
