No trip to Canmore is complete without visiting Tapas for amazing food and wine. Small and cozy with great atmosphere. Be sure to make a reservation as it is very popular.
Enjoyed a delicious meal here last night. The elk rib fell off the bone and was full of rich flavours. The gnocchi, heirloom tomatoes and housemade bread were all yum! My cousin ordered the bison and it looked tempting too. We had a great bottle of wine that really complimented the meal. The date cake dessert was the perfect way to end the meal -- much more refined than the name implies, more like a sticky toffee pudding. Recommend! It was my first dine-in experience since March 2020 and I felt pretty safe because they checked proof of vaccination for all patrons and everyone wore masks except when eating.
Great flair, friendly staff. Amazing dessert!! (had dinner already at another place)
The chef is so creative! They were also so accommodating for us providing a veggie option of the 8-course taster menu - thank you so much!
Small and cozy spot with great tapas.
The patio was great for being able to maintain some covid precautions, though not all the servers were wearing masks we still felt fairly safe here. Was great to try an assortment of dishes, some were misses but the ribs were so good!
Great atmosphere, excellent quality, wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back next time we’re in Canmore. Great for a date night.
Food is nothing extra ordinary and service was slow. The patio is nice on a windy day as it is protected. *** Respond to your comment: Dear owner of Tapas, I believe my feedback was honest. 3 stars is not 1 star, and it's not 5, but in the middle...reflective of my experience Yes times have been tough, but everyone is on the same boat and I invite you to take a look at many reviews I have given (especially since the pandemic); there are many outstanding places across the country that have done a fantastic job to maintain their services/offerings. If you believe anything less than a 5 star is unacceptable during COVID, and you want to strive to be a true "fine" dining, perhaps you could have asked me what your business could have done better to achieve that, rather than criticizing my choice of words, or my palette. I too invite you to be nice to your neighbors and better accept feedback. Stay safe!
Cozy little restaurant with truly great plates for sharing, nice cocktails, and wonderful service. Highly recommend the chefs tasting, tartare, and the tuna. Amazing staff were a ton of fun to chat with through the night.
We ordered the Chef's Tasting menu which turned out to be an excellent choice. The quality of food which included locally sourced ingredients went beyond our expectations! The service was excellent as well. Our waiter, John, carefully took the time to answer our questions about the courses beforehand and our server Monique described the dishes perfectly. I highly recommend the oyster and lion's mane mushroom ricotta gnocchi with seven terraces creme!
Highly recommend this place. I had a selection of offerings from the menu...and all of them amazing. I would highly recommend the asparagus...and iberico ham.
I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago and wow did it live up to the hype. This restaurant has the best overall vibe. Very small, intimate, ambience is perfect. The decor everywhere inside and out is very unique and artistic. The server was extremely knowledgeable about everything and how the dishes were cooked, wine , etc. The food was so damn good. The lamb was probably the best cooked lamb I’ve ever had. Everything was just seasoned and cooked to perfection!! This was no doubt the most romantic restaurant I’ve ever been to. Make sure to reserve a table early. This place sure does fill up fast!! If you want a fine dining experience with your loved one/ family/ friends, this is for sure the place to visit in Canmore!
Love love love this restaraunt. Great food. Quit, private setting makes for a perfect location for our 5th wedding Anniversary! A must try! Flavours to die for! 2 people, 5 tapas, 4 drinks, $125. Great price for a great experience! Compliments to the staff and service. Real people serving real delicious food.
We were impressed by the food and service we experienced at this gem in the mountains. The intimate environment this restaurant provides is a added bonus for date night.
Excellent food experience. Great people, great drinks. Excellent service. Cool restaurant. Will go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience.
Small and quaint with nice ambience. Enjoyed the flamenco music in the background; service was great. Food was delicious with a variety of different tastes to enjoy.
Food was okay. Good service. Was expecting Tapas like you get in Spain. Liked the crab cakes and the trout. Gnocchi was ok. Some items were overpriced. 7 course chef's tasting meal must be worth a try.
This ruined food for me for two days. The beef flatiron was the best beef I've ever eaten. Romantic setting and perfect if you want to have pretentious conversation about wine and food (we didn't but I eavesdropped).
Dine in
Outstanding. The tasting menu is mind blowing. One of the dining experiences of my whole life.
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to! My daughter recommended that we do the chefs choice dinner and words cannot describe how amazing everything was! Our server was very attentive and we loved the ambiance of the room we dined in.
Service
One of our favorite resturaunts in town. Very intimate, small, romantic setting. Fantastic tapas. Excellent service. Reasonable prices for the quality. Its a special treat.
Service
First time here and also first time experience. Service was great, very attentive. Food was pretty good. Main areas that I don't like are the price... too much in my opinion and I'm not a fan of "snacking" I would prefer all the dishes at the same time to make a 'meal' rather than receiving one plate at a time, but that's what tapas are so all in all was good. Took about 2hrs from start to finish with 6 or 7 dishes I believe including dessert.
This was our 5 visit in the year. To date all have been great meals and experiences. This was our most disappointing evening at the restaurant. We were made aware prior that the name had changed and that the Spanish dishes had been removed, but it was still small plate shareable dishes. I did not care for the menu nearly as much this time around. It had some outstanding dishes such as the elk short rib and the gnocchi, but most fell short for me. The lamb ribs were to die for. They substituted a dish off the chef's tasting menu with a small piece a smoked venison stuck on a piece of spruce tree. Could have just been an off nice for the crew, but felt it was overpriced for the experience this time. Not sure when we will be back.
Had a the 7 course chef's tasting menu, and it was AMAZING! Server Meghan was super kind and informative and Chef Nick was top notch! The whole experience was stunning! Highly recommended!
Went for dinner over the weekend. It was fantastic. Service was great, food was delicious, and reasonably priced. Great environment as well. The only downside was that they don't allow substitutions to the chefs tasting menu, which we totally understand but would have been nice!
Came in with my Wife for little escape before our first baby arrives. Great decor and ambience. Food and service were awesome!
Great food and very cool atmosphere. Service is fast and friendly. They work hard to source their ingredients locally which is great. The menu is nice and focused. It could be even better with more unique items. It is definitely on the pricey side especially given the small portions. Having said that it is tapas style and everything is meant to be shared.
After deciding last minute to go out for dinner on a busy long weekend, we called Tapas to see if they had room. They politely informed us they were full up for the evening, as we had assumed, but less than 10 minutes later they called back to offer us a table they were able to squeeze us into last minute. It was my first time dining at Tapas and I was thoroughly impressed. We had a gluten and dairy intolerant table and our server/the kitchen was happy to accommodate us. The DF/GF gnocchi option was made fresh for the table, the beef tartare was one of the best we've had, and the venison was out of this world. The prawns were also one of my personal favourite dishes. The service and food was great and we even got checked on by a manager to make sure everything was to our liking. Thank you Tapas for taking it upon yourselves to accommodate a last minute table. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful food and service! Perfect meal for a special occasion
Ok to have a"nice night".. but too tight, small little place with lots of tables, no privacy. Two tables right at the entrance, don't sit there as people will crash your romantic dinner every time the enter in to the restaurant. We had to change tables to the bar, as the live music guitar guy was right behind us and a little bit too loud, we could not hear each other!! Gourmet food, little plates, big prices. Great food!!! But uncomfortable every where else ????????
A hidden gem. The restaurant has an outdoor patio (I think two, front and back) and full interior with a relaxed, cozy ambience. My table tried the chef's tasting menu because we couldn't narrow down our choices and the chef's menu did not disappoint. Will visit again whenever I'm in town.
Beautiful and quaint with a robust atmosphere. The food is elegantly prepared with thoughtful ingredients and combinations. The presentation of the food is amazing. Will be back for sure.
This place is amazing. Food and drink delicious!
Lovely place
I would call it a romantic spot with a really good food. We were sitting in the patio, with the mountain view. There are also the heaters there, so it makes it very cozy. Pheasant music and yummy food - you can't desire more after hiking and paddle boarding. I would like to come there again.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary and the atmosphere between the decor, music and server made for the perfect experience. And the food was absolutely delicious, we ordered the chefs special and the pace at which each dish arrived was just right.
Had dinner here last night and it was absolutely amazing. We shared the bread, venison tartare (pic accidentally says elk tartare), heirloom carrots, baby potatoes, bison top sirloin and elk shortrib. They were each incredible, honestly one of the best meals I've had in my life. The service was super friendly, the atmosphere was great, the decor was great... it was the perfect ending to my boyfriends and my roadtrip around the rockies.
Top shelf food and service. Not to be missed when in Canmore and worth a drive from Calgary!
Great atmosphere. Service was excellent and owner makes a point to meet his customers. We loved the food. Highly recommend the lamb shank, chicken thighs and peanut butter mousse
I went here for my birthday and they treated me like a queen as soon as I walked in the door! Gave my husband and I champagne, everyone wished me a happy birthday, and they even gave me a birthday card. In addition to this, the food was amazing. We got the chef's menu 7 course meal and they were able to accommodate my allergies no problem. Absolutely loved this restaurant, we'll be going back for sure next time we're in Canmore!
Went out for an anniversary dinner and we were told about the Chef’s selection. AMAZING!!!! Dale and his staff were very accommodating and overall we had a great night!!!! Highly recommend Tapas!!!
Called them beforehand and no one picked it up, so decided to go and just walk-in. When we got there, they didn’t have any walk-in tables available at 7:45pm and were told that the next available table is at 8:30pm. It’s unbelievable that they did not have any walk-in tables at that time, the weather was extremely bad outside and it was not ideal having to wait for almost an hour for it. Not very accomodating at all. After walking around, decided to go back and tried their food. Fennel salami was good and probably the best dish of the night. Smoked duck was OK, the flavours were all over the place, not the biggest fan. Gnocchi was nice, another good dish of the night. Scallops however were overcooked and tasted rubbery, slightly too salty as well. The scallop dish came with just two scallops and it was $30, very expensive for what it was. Individual component of each dish needs to be improved so that the flavours are more well-blended while eating everything altogether. In conclusion, overrated and overpriced food.
Great food, wine and service!!
Great food and service! We love going there for special occasions. We're never disappointed
We went here because of the previous stellar reviews. Our waitress was very kind and attentive, our concern was with the food. Some of it was creative and tasty, but some dishes like the olives just lacked flavour and was very bland. And I do understand the tapas concept - but a plate of Broccolini no matter how delicious, should not cost $16. Overall it was a nice place, nice people, but the food albeit did not match the steep prices.
Was absolutely charmed by this place. The setting is very intimate, the food was incredible, wine was delicious and the service was great.
I can’t say enough great things about my experience at Tapas tonight. Our server, Dale, was very knowledgeable and helped guide us through the menu. We had the chefs tasting menu and a couple of add- ons from the regular menu. We added the cricketts; like an earthy, smoky, gooey fried manchego cheese ball. What’s not to love? The chefs menu was absolutely brilliant. Fresh ingredients that were perfectly seasoned. Dale and the kitchen kept pace with us as we got to try everything from olives and Marcona almonds, house made brioche, delicious snapper fishcakes to bison ribeye. With a few martini’s and well paired wine along side. It felt like a moment in Spain. Do yourself a favour and go right away.
Awesome awesome awesome. You won't go away hungry and the food is if an elevated style.
I have loved going here for many years, however my last experience was LESS than enjoyable. Inside the restaurant, there is no air flow, never mind air conditioning... and the internal heat of the restaurant was HOTTER than outside, which happened to be 28°C. We tried everything but the gnocchi on the menu, and were definitely underwhelmed... bland flavors, no star dishes, and due to the heat, everything was "warm"... even the oysters that were on ice. Again, I've eaten here many times before and enjoyed my experience, however I will now think twice before returning.
We highly recommend to try this place at least once. Even though on the pricier side and portions are smaller, the flavours are spot on. Order minimum 4-5 dishes to share between 2 people.
My wife and I ordered the chef’s tasting menu. It was outstanding! A seven course meal with a variety of food such as cauliflower, gnocchi and tenderloin. Service was excellent. Highly recommended????
We loved this place. Everything was perfection.
Dine in
Food is enjoyable! But Service isn't that great as you would expect for this fine Restaurant. I've been there since June 4x times, with friends and husband. Yesterday I came with my husband for dinner. That, that they forget to bring us butter/bread/water as we ask for it... I got used to (also once forgot to bring meal). But what really shocked me yesterday was when I asked waitress if they can bring some sort of chair or something where I can put my purse since I have nowhere to put it, she said ,,unfortunately not'' and just walked away from me. They have curved chairs where you can't put it on the side of the chair so I just felt uncomfortable for the rest of the evening and after 2.5h we went to the hotel... (and 2.5h because it really takes time to get your food on the table..) You know.. we pay 20% tip when we dine there (spent $280 CAD + tip yesterday) ... I would of expect a little more from service ... Unfortunately I am not able to reply to owner's response, I can only edit my own review... Dear owner - I think your response speaks for itself of how much you value me as a customer. Instead of some understanding, you attack me with your unnecessary comment that my purse must have a unique design! I find this rude and unprofessional... I won't be wasting my time explaining myself which I am sure you can care less given your response as well I see your other responses when feedback isn't music to your ears.. you really need to learn to take constructive criticism and be polite to customers as they are paying your bills. Your real luck is that in Canmore is so much tourists so you are set. Unfortunate is, that you don't take care of your local people. Myself and many of our friends won't be coming to your restaurant anymore. We'll spend our money elsewhere where we get our money's worth ....and now you come up with a lie that i was rude to your staff? My the only question was where can i put my purse and the waitress walked away from our table.. and that is rude to you? Aren't you ashamed of your false comments a little bit? There was an easy solution (like bring a chair at least) but instead you decide to fight me here. Wish you many years of success...!
Simply WOW ???? We had reservations at Tapas after a long day and were greated with a warm smile and seated at the cutest table. We ordered a few items and all were out of this world. The carrots are a must try!!
First off, the food Is very flavourful and tasty. However don't go hungry because the portions are extremely small. Good drink selection. The peanut butter chocolate mousse was fantastic... HOWEVER we had a rude and inattentive server that ruined our experience from the minute we walked in, So we will not be going back.
Best food in Canmore for sure. Never ever been disappointed with the menu, food or wine, at Tapas.
We ate at Tapas last night and the food was out of this world! Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and friendly (along with the rest of the staff). I can’t wait to return to Canmore just to eat here again!
Food was average, wait was too long. It took an hour for one course to arrive to our table. I get that it’s tapas style, but service was waaaaaayyyyyyu tooooo slow. The server didn’t seem to care much. I had phoned in advance about my dietary restrictions and I was told that I would be taken care of. I wasn’t expecting a restaurant with such amazing reviews to hand me undercooked roasted peppers stuffed with edamame, floating in broth and randomly thrown undercooked squash. I was really disappointed. I’ve had camp stuffed peppers that tasted much better. We were there for my birthday but there was no acknowledgement of the special occasion. Server was really cold towards us. Won’t be coming back. I’ve started to question if all the other reviews are genuine.
I love this restaurant. Chef Tracy always blows my mind with flavours I'd never expect to try. Well worth a visit and with an ever changing menu revisiting is always worth it.
My friend and I had an incredible experience. We ordered the mushrooms, meatballs, and patatas bravas and each dish was amazing. We could not believe how great it was! The tomato sauce had just the right amount of smokiness to it. We will definitely be back.
Cozy, romantic and great food. Try their 7 course dinner for $65 per person.
I had an unbelievably good time here with my family. The food was delicious and the atmosphere even better. Such a unique little spot. This place is true tapas-style dining and I could not recommend enough if you are looking for a nice evening out in Canmore.
Food ok, service below average, wont be returning.
One of my favourite places to eat out in the mountains. There's something about tapas style food that is so fun, intimate, and delicious - to be able to try a few bites of a bunch of dishes. Love it. Tapas restaurant is great, very cozy and an awesome atmosphere. Everything on the menu is full of great flavors and fresh ingredients. The service is wonderful as well - we had ordered the confit duck, and upon bringing it to our table, the (I'm assuming the owner?) noted that it was smaller than the one that normally comes, so he gave us a discount without hesitation. The wine list is great as well. Highly recommend adding this to your must-see list out this way.
Nice food and great quality of service. Highly recommended.
My husband and I came to Tapas to celebrate our wedding anniversary almost a month ago and we are still talking about how delicious our meal was. The staff was very friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in the cozy restaurant. We ordered the Chef's meal with 7 courses it was a great way to try items you may not typically order and to also have a balanced meal. The dishes were simple ingredients but elevated, the gnocchi with mushrooms was honestly to die for, there wasn't a dish we would complain about. We will definitely be back and are telling everyone to go there!
What a fantastic experience all around! They were very accommodating with my husbands gluten and dairy allergies. We ordered the chefs choice and every dish was unique and full of flavour!
The menu was really hard to read and confusing (font, layout, descriptions), but the food was delicious and really unique. Every dish was a hit except the dessert - a weird Bailey's mousse that tastes sour and we didn't eat after a couple of bites. The Frost cocktail was maybe the best drink I've ever had and the negroni was very smooth. The service was also top notch. All in all definitely 5 stars. I would go back again in a heartbeat.
We did our research before coming to Tapas. The reviews were good aside from bring pricey with small serving sizes and service issues. We decided to give it a try, knowing that Tapas literally means small savory dishes and that people have bad days for serving. We are glad we went! The food flavors were unique and delicious! The shrimp is a must! Our only complaint was that there should have been more shrimp because it was just so tasty! The red Sangria was also very good and the service was great! If you're hungry just order more tapas, we ordered four between the two of us and we left satisfied. Yes its a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for!
Disappointing visit. I understand this restaurant has a tasting menu and food comes out as it is ready. However, I was still disappointed in the timing of our dishes. Our main came 2 minutes after our drinks and one minute after our bread. This was followed by tartare, an appetizer. Most of the food was okay, but not great The ricotta gnocchi was room temperature, at best, and very dense
Overly hyped restaurant. Went there for husband's 50th. Sat at table for 2, with no light on table. All other tables had lights ( candles/lamps). Diners came in after us, asked for lights to be turned down. They actually did. We couldn't even see hardly what we were eating. Then ordered the Waygu beef steak, 7 oz. It is priced by the oz (7$/oz). Got a steak that was way undercooked (rare) when I asked for medium rare to medium, and half the steak was literally a hunk of fat. It was disgusting. When we finally got the waiters attention, he said he would love the fat hunk if he got it. Well I wasn't expecting to pay 7$ per oz of fat. Super disappointing that he just didn't care about us spending around $400 on a supper. He didn't care, the kitchen didnt' care. The whole experience left a bad taste. Will never go back. We left to have a bottle of wine (which we ordered from Sauvage also but at this restaurant it was 20$ cheaper) and dessert. Save your money. Truly. NOT WORTH IT.
Excellent food, great flavors, very tasty, just the right quantity. Nice ambience, good service. Don't skip the deserts, well worth it!
Went for dinner last night and the food is just amazing. We ordered about 6 different dishes and every single one was delicious. The beet salad, mushroom dish and the chicken are definitely my favorites. The service was impeccable and the ambiance is very inviting and relaxing. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Came to Canmore around Thanksgiving for a wedding. Decided to dine the night before at Tapas because my partner was celebrating her birthday. We ordered the tasting menu, and were pleased to hear the Chef was preparing her interpretation of Thanksgiving dinner. We were just floored by every one of the seven consecutive courses. The flavours just all worked with each other, and the attention to detail was immaculate. The stuffing was made with her house-made brioche (stunning) and the presentation across all courses was sublime. The main course was the most flavourful and sumptuous turkey you could imagine. The dessert, a pumpkin tart, was topped with maple-bourbon ice cream that complemented the pumpkin amazingly well. The menu maintained the conventions you expect from a "Thanksgiving" meal, but with a highly creative and distinctively unique spin. This Chef clearly has tons of talent and passion for her work. My absolute highest compliments to the Chef, and my thanks to the rest of the staff who were very friendly and accommodating. My server, an English fellow whose name is slipping my mind, had kindly let me know that they had brought in a seasonal pumpkin ale that wasn't quite chilled yet. He proceeded to give me updates on the temperature of the drink so I could decide when it was sufficiently cold, which I appreciated greatly. This gentleman deserves commendation for his outstanding service. Overall, our evening at Tapas was a night to remember. Thank you!
Just wow. What an overall amazing experience at Tapas Restaurant. The great service was apparent right away from the host to our server to the manager. We ordered a couple cocktails to start the night and they were pretty good if not a bit boring. Our server talked up the 'chefs tasting' and we graciously obliged. All 8 courses were top quality and prepared expertly. My only small complaint would be some of it just needed a touch of salt here or a hit of pepper there. We were not expecting to walk out as full as we were by the end so I do feel $65 per person is worth it. It was a wonderful time and I would most likely return.
A fantastic Spanish/European dining experience in the heart of the Rockies in downtown Canmore, Alberta next to Banff. For those not familiar with Tapas dining, try the Chef's Table, and their servers will take guests (minimum of two) through 8 courses, including dessert. The stuffed dates alone made our time there worth the price of admission!
Great Tapas food and cold meat/cheese selection. Nice Spanish ambience. Food was served in a very considered order rather than several dishes at once. Highly recommended for an evening dinner in Canmore.
It’s not remotely my first time here, but it was my first time back after several years. Menu is on point. Think shared plates. It’s a great place to be able to try multiple items from the menu. The gambas and the mussels have been a staple on the menu... and rightfully so. The recipes have changed a little but they’re still legendary choices. The lobster with chorizo fundido is so tasty but be warned, it’s heavy and filling. Of course another popular legacy item is their sangria. A good balance of flavours. A real treat! Service (Kristen and Co.) was amazing as always and it’s what makes the experience that much more special. Didn’t have room for dessert. Prices are fair.
Dinner
One of the best dinner experiences I ever had! We took the tasting menu, which came with an eight course meal. All of them were very different, and amazing! The chef, Tracy Little, came out to greet us as well. Highly recommended!
The service and food was amazing! Their playlist is spot to too.
There were numerous issues with our visit last night. I will call and talk to someone before saying more here.** Thank you for the conversation.***
Had the 7 course chef selection. Excellent. Great service. Tons of food. My only complaint is that the food might have come out a tiny bit fast, there wasn't much lingering between courses.
Amazing food and wonderful service.
I have mixed opinions of this place. On one hand the food is very unique but on the other hand, the price is not worth a repeat visit. We were sold on the tasting menu saying there were 8 courses. We ended up with 7 courses with the bread and olives counting as one of those courses. Don't get me wrong, the bread was excellent. But I was expecting 8 courses as the server indicated... Some dishes were great and others not so much.
Amazing place — great staff, really professional, and the food is scrumptious. Absolutely delightful; the garnish, the taste, the combination of foods. 5 Stars and well deserved
Absolutely amazing restaurant. We were expecting something far more generic but we were so happily surprised by the menu. We did the chef's choice and I would recommend this to any first timers for sure!
We literally don't know what to order on the menu as everything sounds so good,So we did finally decide to get the full course meal and IT WAS Fantastic! It was very creative, heartfelt one of a kind experience Also need to mention how amazing their sangria are ,you guys deserve my 5 stars
Went with some friends while on a trip to banff with some friends and ordered the Chefs tasting menu, which tasted amazing. 6 courses of delicious and filling food, I especially liked the gnocchi, and tomato salad courses. 10/10 would eat here again
I had the pleasure of visiting Sauvage not once but twice on my winter holiday in Alberta. Both nights we dined on tasting menus including the NYE Alice in Wonderland themed menu. Upon entering the restaurant you can immediately tell there is a lot of intention, thought and heart that goes into both the establishment and the cuisine. Chef Tracy's creations are thought provoking, fresh and imaginative. Her background in foraging and concepts of what wild and earthy sustainable food should be comes across perfectly in her dishes and she has a way of charming you into eating things you never thought you would eat with both her excitement and enthusiasm. Each night was a beautiful and pacifying experience and we felt well taken care of by the wonderful staff. I left with both a full heart and an inspired mind. looking forward to my next visit. A definite must dine here if you're in the area!
Wonderful restaurant with exceptional service! My husband and dined there this past Friday with friends, and as always food, wine and service were perfect. Friday was the first night of a new menu and wow what a hit. I think we tried all the new items and we were delighted with them all. Chef Chris has outdone himself once again. I would be remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to Ollie, our favourite waiter.(they are all great!) But Ollie has looked after us a few times in a row and we’re just a great fit. Thank you for a very tasty and fun night. Make a reso so you aren’t disappointed!
We've been here twice and the food is always top notch. you really feel like you're in Spain, except the service is better, you'd know what i mean if you've ever visited Spain
Had an amazing meal, with some old favourites as well as some new dishes. Loved the Beef Tartare, as well as the Garlic Aioli Shrimp. And went home with Chocolate Bombs for Christmas
I make the long story short! If you're willing to spend $50-70 for some very delicious "snack" and a couple of drinks this is your place. If you're hungry and looking for "food" to fill you up stay away. because even if you spend $100 there is a good chance that you still feel hungry!
Honestly food was great and the servers were knowledgeable and nice yet extremely pressuring and didnt create a relaxing environment. Food is really overpriced but it tastes excellent if you're willing to spend $300 for a dinner. Would be an excellent special evening with a small group willing to drop a decent amount on drinks and food. For example bill was 58 for 2 glasses of wine, an appetizer and bottle of mineral water.
This was our first time at Sauvage for my husbands birthday. The staff are phenomenal, we came with a baby and they went out of their way way to ensure we had everything we need. For couples I would highly suggest the chefs tasting menu. We had to substitute the pork as my husband is Muslim and they did so with the elk, it was phenomenal. Everything we tried is absolutely delicious. The staff are all very knowledgable. We will be back!
Great atmosphere inside. Wonderful food and the staff was attentive and helpful. I highly recommend for a romantic dinner or do the patio for a group outing for a lively dinner and wine!
Best meal we've had in over a year. Great food, reasonable prices and romantic atmosphere
Small place with a nice patio. We had only tapas- mushrooms, carrots, albondigas. They were straight-ahead, but well executed. Staff was friendly and prompt. We'd definitely go back.
i’d day it’s one of top 10 out of calgary area, very nice presentations and thoughtful balanced flavor! will come back to try other stuffs on the menu.
Went here for a Christmas eve dinner a few years ago. WELL WORTH THE PRICE! Our server was kind and accommodating, explained the menu really well, and helped guide us through our first tapas experience. It made such a positive impression I've been recommending this restaurant ever since, and it's merely bad timing on my part that I haven't been back. Wine list is extensive with something for everyone. It's up scale enough to feel like you're getting a first class experience, while still being totally unpretentious.
Quite a unique dining experience, everything we ordered was really delicious. Service was good and fast. Liked the atmosphere of the place as well.
This was our second visit to Tapas and I was disappointed in this visit. To be fair the power went out so there was difficulty in making the meal however when we were halfway through we were asked to pay. Because of my good experience before I agreed but unfortunately all the remaining dishes were definitely sub par. There was no offer of a gift card or something to entice us back. I will have to consider whether it is worth going back for a third visit
We had a romantic dinner here for my wife’s birthday. The staff were friendly and attentive. The COVID protocols were excellent and we had a very private and safe spot to eat. They managed to do this without spoiling the atmosphere of a great date restaurant. The food was fantastic. We had the chef’s menu, and they were happy to modify it to include only vegetarian and fish dishes. Everything was prepared and presented beautifully, with unusual flavour combinations. It was fun to keep receiving one surprise dish after another - each better than the last. We can’t wait for our next date at this lovely and unique place.
Great food, probably the best tapas restaurant I've eaten in. Did take out so haven't been inside since Covid-19.
Wow. Cozy, but not crowded. Outstanding and welcoming service. We had the tasting menu paired up with wines and putting our culinary experience in the hands of the chef resulted in a wonderful meal. We stopped by Tapas on the way home from BC. Great last minute choice. We will be back.
Absolutely amazing. We ordered the seven course chef's tasting, sangria, cocktails, and a few oysters and nothing disappointed!!! Food was absolutely spectacular, service was fantastic, drinks were made proper, even the waters were always full! We dinned for three hours and loved every minute! Will be back!
Honestly it was my first time coming here and when we decided to order the chef's meal, everything went up from there. Everything was delicious and we had a great selection of sweet, savory, and spicy dishes. I'm definitely going to come back the next time I go back to Canmore.
The room is super cozy and charming. We ordered about 6 dishes to share and every single one was absolutely delicious. Best meal I've had in a restaurant in a long time!
Food was excellent, server was odd but likeable. Timing of the meal was a minor issue - the person who ordered a single entree dish didn’t receive their plate until the others were about 5-6 rounds into tapas. Overall great dinner!
We tried the 7 course meal and definitely were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the service was even better. The guys were very knowledgeable about the menu and worked really hard. We were blown away by beef short rib and the crumble cheese cake dessert. We will definitely return on our next visit to Canmore.
I recently went in for the pride themed tasting menu which took me through the colours of the rainbow starting with a red raspberry crusted carpaccio, orange trout gravlax, truffled green pea panna cotta, smoked duck fat infused halibut, and ended with saskatoon berry opera cake. Not only was it amazing but proceeds went to supporting trans and gender diverse youth. An amazing meal for a great cause. You can tell the chef puts passion into everything she does!
Absolutely my favourite restaurant in Calgary area! Have been here many times, always incredible food, service and atmosphere! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Canmore!
Meal type
Best Tapas restaurant I've had. Quaint, great atmosphere, excellent service and amazing food. This place is even worth a drive in from Calgary...A MUST go to place!!!!
A unique experience. High quality food and service, a unique menu, with one of the more unique atmospheres you will find anywhere. Can feel a bit on the pricey side, but in line with other options you will find in Town.
Amazing food, we did the chef’s tasting menu, and added the venison tartar. By far the best meal we had in Canmore. The service was top notch, the entire team was welcoming and had beautiful explanations of the food and the the restaurant concept. Highly recommended.
Literally everything was amazing. Cheese board, wine, mushroom toast (what the heck?! Unreal!), cauliflower, tostadas, and peanut butter dessert!
Excellent service. Food was great except for 1 dish, the beef was tough. Will definitely go back again.
The food was just average based on price and the prentionous of the place. Seafood was old and fishy tasting. Sauces tasted like they came from a package in the sidekicks aisle. Definitely better choices for high quality food in Canmore. FYI I gave Burger King 5 stars because that particular location has great service and the best quality compared to other locations. So they deserve 5 stars, not like this restaurant. Won't be back again to this Tapas.
Ribs were amazing! Drinks were ok and the charcuterie board was absolutely not worth it! Extremely pricy for what you get
Cozy atmosphere. That evening they had a gentleman playing guitar in the restaurant and it was great. We ordered the chef's meal with 7? Courses I believe it was, so each course was a surprise. Unreal . Unique . I would have never thought to order any of the dishes on their own so I'm happy we went with this choice so we could experience truly unique cuisine. Each dish is shared but we were stuffed full by the end.
Romantic little spot in Canmore. We were stuffed near the end of the taster. Be prepared!
The food at Tapas is delicious. The almonds and gnocchi were amazing! The space itself is quite small and felt a bit cramped but it was a unique dining experience. We did not enjoy the beef flatiron but other than that, all of the dishes were excellent. I would eat here again!
This was the best date night I could have asked for. Tiny footprint, so make sure to reserve your table in advance. The 7 courses chef's tasting menu was absolutely amazing! They even worked around my seafood/fish allergy and it was delightful. Rich, decadent, melt in your mouth flavours.
Visited based on a recommendation and only reviews, left the restaurant feeling fairly disappointed. Tried most of the dishes on the menu and most were okay, but not spectacular. Carrot and beet salads were overly sweet, crikettas were too dense, tostadas were soggy and flavours didn’t go together in one bite. The lamb dish was decent but over cooked despite asking for rare. Overall an underwhelming experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.
The food was really tasty. Two of us split 5 items for our meal, which was ample food. Unfortunately our server was more interested in talking to her friends at another table to bother talking our orders, or placing them with the kitchen. They need to get their service figures out because it is not up to the quality of the food.
Nice place, dont go there if you're hungry. Food was great.
I think this is my new favourite restaurant. Be sure to order the chef's table for $65/person. You won't go wrong.
We had dinner here to celebrate our engagement and everything about this place was phenomenal. The service, the ambiance and, of course, the food was incredible. They went out of their way to congratulate us and made an already amazing day even better. We had the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. Definitely get the bison with brie and the ricotta gnocchi, they were to die for. If you haven't been here yet go now. Right. Now.
Flat iron stake was awesome! I think all Asian people would like this :) + good service
Dinner
Went in to try a place I hadn't been to before. Service was excellent. Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. The food was incredible. Some of it was so good, that we ordered seconds. I will make the trip to visit again.
My husband and I dined here this evening and it was fantastic! The food was creative and the service spot on. Can't wait to go back!!
The price for chef's table is too expensive it's like they serve for one and shared for two person and the food is not even great. so disappointing.. compare to Sensory they have chef's table for 65$ but they serve individually and taste amazing.. I thought all the review was real waste of money.
We really enjoyed our meals at Tapas. We opted for the chef's selection course meal. It was very good, lots of interesting flavors and meats I had not had before. The service was great, it was definitely an experience as the food was brought up over a period of 2 hours. We dined on the upper floor, there was a screen in between the 2 tables which made it feel very covid friendly. I'm glad we were on the upper floor as the downstairs area by the washroom was very tight. It was a great date night.
Takes a long time to get all your food but very good food and cocktails
What an amazing experience. Everything was truly delicious. Will definitely be reserving a table again soon. Great vibe and the food was perfect!!
The people that gave this restaurant one star are sniffing glue. Christopher the executive chef delivered the tasting menu of our dreams. Table of 6 unanimously agreed that each course was better than the last, and they created a wine paring for our meal (not currently part of the menu) that was perfect. Do yourself a favor and come visit this place. Ask Dale at the bar for an old fashioned, and ask Kyle for the wine pairing. We can't recommend this place more.
We went here on our anniversary trip to Canmore. We got the 7 course tasting menu and upgraded to their bison special. It did not disappoint! Service, atmosphere and food are all top notch. Worth the money. Definitely pay for the experience, but our best meal in Canmore.
Just amazing food! The owner, she is so talented and her food shows! Unbelievable, the staff are amazing and friendly! Probably the best restaurant I've been to in many many years! Can't wait to come back again! You won't be disappointed and if you are your probably a twot!
Amazing food, amazing service. Love ya Tyrel
Excellent. This is our best dining experience we have ever had in canmore. Often with tapas you have small portions and average food - not here. The portions here are excellent and the food was to die for. We loved the lamb ribs, date cake, gnocchi and carrots.
Unbelievably delicious meal. Tried "The Whatever" takeout meal with my wife, and was definitely impressed. Packed a lot of flavor into those 4 courses.
A little trip to Spain. It was amazing! Live Spanish guitar, delicious food and great service. Try everything it is worth it! We had the basil pannacota and terrine for dessert, highly recommended.
Best Taps place I’ve ever tried! You will need to make a reservation (we waited 2 hours for table, went to another restaurant for light drinks).
Absolutely AMAZING! The service was outstanding. Although I was craving for paella which is usually a Tuesday special, I enjoyed the Chefs special. As you can see we ate quite a bit. The bread was freshly made. The butter was my favourite part!! The 2 different olives were from Spain and France. The blue cheese salad with pear was delicious. I thought it was too much to have dates stuffed with blue cheese with the salad. But the shiraz washed it all down. The potatoes were made with the perfect crunch and softness in the inside. The sauce on top was made with a tomato sauce with aioli sauce on top. The homemade sausage was one of my favourites. The meat was made to fall apart in your mouth. The sauce was made with chickpeas which made it extra delightful. The prawns were spicy with a tangy flavour. Then there was the beef flat iron...mouth drool! A must have!! Perfectly seasoned with the taste of mushrooms. And for dessert the peanut butter moose topped with sea salt and chocolate. WOW! It just melted in you mouth with the meringue to top it off. I would definitely go back again, especially for their paella!! The food was amazing, but the service was top notch!! I would go back just for that! Thank you for making my birthday special!
Absolutely amazing food ! I highly recommend for everyone! Sadly Our last night in Canmore if not I would be back tomorrow:) Order the 8 course dinner . The Chefs table .
Amazing diner from start to finish. Went for the special tasting menu. Decided to go with a bottle of Spanish red called Alaya Tierra which was perfect. Every one of the 7 courses were delicious and the presentations really thoughtful. You can tell the Chef's passion for local ingredients. Servers and the kitchen team did an excellent job. We discovered Chef Tracy when she was working at another restaurant and we have been fans of her creations since then. Again, we were not disappointed and her food mixed with the Tapas ambiance is a perfect match. It's now a must go to restaurant in Canmore. All the best and can't wait to come back!
Superb service. Great tapas. These guys earned their keep for unique on point flavour. A unexpected turn for the best ????
Not the best for sure. i don't thing they read the notes on reservations. Place is ok
We come here twice a year - visiting from the west coast, and while there are so many great restaurants in Victoria, our favourite (this one) is actually 1k away. This little gem has it all: great staff, delicious; carefully prepared food, (the chorizo + figs and their trout croquettes are superb) excellent drinks, and the atmosphere. Always worth a visit: make sure to get your reservation in, though. You won’t get a spot if you play it by ear.
"Swindled" is the word to describe going to this restaurant. I would give zero stars as being one of my worst restaurant experiences. We were seated and quickly asked to order not realising that we had to find the menu online. Due to the rushing of the server, we asked if there was a time limit and we were told there was not another seating. The server pushed us to take the "Tasting Menu" that gave 8 courses and cost each person $65. We asked what each dish was, but apparently the menu is a surprise for their clients. Indeed it was. Sure wish I had said I was vegetarian, which we mentioned on third of eighth dish!! There were three of us in the party, however we were fine with that because two of the party members described how the portions were quite large. IT WOULD BE NICE IF the dishes to be served could have been described before serving because we would have realised there was meat. The first dish was a small plate of bread with the tiniest bowl of "homemade" potato chips (tasted like they had opened a bag of Kettle chips). Next came a half of a raw scallop (seriously) sliced paper thin doused in some kind of sauce that apparently you share!! It was followed by a tablespoon size serving of raw venison and two tiny 2 oz bottles of Kombucha tea, then followed up by two pieces of raw Yak (then the waiter said bison). Did I mention we are vegetarians? Then finally something I could eat....some cold pasta in a non-descriptive tomato paste followed by a thin slice of eggplant with a few tomatoes and apple slices. Lastly came the dessert, a small tart with a crust so hard you needed a steak knife to chop through. Also the power went out at the second serving and we were asked to pay the full amount right then. Even though at the beginning they said they had no other seatings, we were not even 10 minutes finished chopping through the dessert and we were asked to get out so someone else could sit. That was the first and last time I will go and I will warn others to stay away unless of course they like being swindled. For the amount I was charged, I could have easily eaten at the Vermillion Room at the Banff Springs Hotel or the Harvest Room at the Hotel MacDonald and I would get a fine dining experience in a beautiful, historic castle for both!
Dine in
Went for our anniversary dinner and it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We are total foodies and own a restaurant in Calgary so believe me when I say that the food was phenomenal, as was the service and the Sangria. Highly recommend the Chefs Plate experience and the red Sangria....best I’ve ever had. Serving staff were prompt and very courteous and friendly and the ambience was cozy and romantic. Not a bad word to say about this place and cannot speak highly enough. Go there....you won’t regret it!
Everything we ordered was exceptional. Service and atmosphere was great. Can’t wait to go back!
Unreal food Amazing customer service Fabulous experience
Please go visit and decide on your own. Read on if you want an honest review and some back and forth with the owner. Looking at the review dates, I believe most of the ratings here are for Tapas, a restaurant we've visited over a dozen times in the past 5yrs, pre-COVID. Not the renamed (new ownership) Sauvage, which we've visited once since COVID. Atmosphere and service: 5 stars. The servers were welcoming and friendly. Wine: Honestly, we were shocked at the price. $23.50 for a 9oz glass of Borgo Scopeto Borgonero, found for $24 at the store. $20 for a 9oz glass of Peter Lehman cab sav, same year/bottle found for $20 retail. And this is coming from a Vancouver resident, where we are used to being overcharged. Cioppino's, and other top Canadian restaurants, charge less for better quality wines. I am well aware the Bow Valley is expensive, but yikes. Food: 3 stars and overpriced for the quality. The truffle snow gnocchi was delicious, but lacking the truffle snow, not a hint of the flavour. Elk short rib was OK. The charcuterie was sad; a very small amount of plain cheeses and meats, the highlight was the few pieces of bread. The remainder of the meal was just a bit above average. There are other Canmore restaurants that have equal, or better, quality food & wine for more realistic prices. .... To the owner and all those who the owner feels the need to let me know is emailing them... This an honest review from an informed individual aware of the restaurant business, including the economics and the impact of COVID. Re: wine prices, I checked them before reviewing and found comparable wines in other Canmore (and Banff) restaurants to be more reasonably priced. As I said, decide on your own what the value is. I'm also aware the living wage in Canmore is $37/HR vs. $20/HR in Vancouver, meaning those employees the owner mentions are very close to being paid a fair salary in Vancouver --- It was amazing to have the owner tell me they are paying staff the living WAGE of $37/HR, seriously, fantastic and a very rare thing to do in this industry. They must make a killing with tips.
Was looking for something unique in Banff, and came across Tapas Restaurant in my search. Went to their website, booked a table and reviewed the menu online. Everything sounded so tempting, and Tapas did not disappoint. Every dish was loaded with flavor, from the cheese plate to the carrots tapas to all of the other dishes we ordered. Not a single dish disappointed. Dessert (pictured) was also incredible. Service was very engaged without being overbearing. Vegetarian friendly, but my table mates loved the meat dishes. Definitely a must try experience.
Meal type
Atmosphere is good, especially for a date, but for that price you would expect at least a great service. Instead, it was pretty slow and not very attentive. Food was ok, not very tapas to be honest
High quality, fresh food with local ingredients. Really enjoyed dinner today
Great food and great service. Highly recommended
We love Tapas, I think we have been coming for 5 years now. We love the atmosphere, the leisurely sharing of multiple plates, and the service and food is always on point.
After eating here, my husband and I were talking about how terrible this place was. We couldn't read the menu because it was so dark in the restaurant. The service was terrible, and you could hear the staff grumbling because a couple in our party of 12 were late. The food was coming out so slow...too slow. But the food...the food was so full of flavor. There is not one thing on that menu to complain about...we know because we tried everything. That's the only reason this place gets 3 stars, otherwise it would be a 1. The food is what this place is all about. Maybe the lighting is for ambiance, but I like to see my food as much as I enjoy tasting it. It's amazing how much people have an impact on your experience. It's the lady in charge and the staff that took a 5 star rating to a 3...good thing they had good food.
Sensory lounge wishes they were this good. Easily worth the price of admission.
Service
A great place to try something new. The food is always amazing and I appreciate the quaint atmosphere. This has always been and always will be my favorite place to eat in the Canmore Banff area!
I love this restaurant! I don’t know why I gave you one star???? It was my mistake! I really enjoyed food ????
The most amazing food I’ve ever had AND the chef is a boss lady! Her food will have me coming back again and again.
Fabulous Food. ????????????
Great food, address is a bit tricky, the entrance is in the alley.
Here for a girls night out. It was wonderful! The service was excellent and the food was delicious! Absolutely would recommend, especially for a nice date night.
Delicious food would definitely go back. Small intimate space, beautiful cozy decor.
The best food I've had in years! Unbelievable service and fantastic atmosphere. Awesome choices of tapas as well. THREE THUMBS UP!!
Always a favorite and must visit when we are in Canmore. $$$ pricy but very worth it.
My favorite place for tapas. Really nice food, friendly staff. Great atmosphere, highly recommend
Delicious food and a cozy environment! Staff were great and so were the drinks! Will definitely be back next time in Canmore!
The food and staff were amazing. The front of the house were helpful and highly efficient. It was amazing to see these two young men work so well together. The food was a delight to the palette. A great experience. Thanks for an outstanding dining experience.
One of my favorite restaurants. This place is incredible!
This place has a really cool atmosphere and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the carrots. I don't really recommend getting the meat and cheese though, honestly. Of everything there, that was the least interesting and the most expensive. The whole experience is super expensive. Just be prepared for that before you go.
This is THE (best place) to eat in Canmore. We love that Tracy Little has joined this place. Match made in heaven. Tapas has always been a delight but now its stepped up its game and playing the game of "Canadas BEST". We are excited to come back.
Try it yourself for a very nice fine dining experience! Just love the friendly staffs and the ambiance is just perfect for a sweet romantic date! The food is sooo tasty!
Really nice place. Good ambiance. Good people. Really tasty food. A little pricey but definitely worth it.
Had a very romantic evening with my husband. The food was incredible and our service was top notch. Was happy to take our servers suggestions for our meal and was definitely not disappointed. We enjoyed every last bite. Our drinks were a perfect night cap. Cozy atmosphere after a long hike.
Was an amazing experience. Once you've tasted food that beautiful and had such a wonderful service you will want to go back. Thanks for creating an awesome evening. Cheers, Brandon & Leah.
Kudos to the cook and the serving staff... Only negative that the service was too good and fast, I couldn't drink more ????????????
Sublime, relaxing, the senses absorb all this wonderful place has to offer.
This spot is a MUST if you are visiting Canmore. Small (incredible) shareable plates at fair prices. Excellent value, atmosphere, and staff.
Beautiful lighting, food was great, pretty good service. Very close and intimate experience. Would recommend but would be curious to see what else is out in Canmore
Late entry: What amazing service at Tapas on September 24, 2017 - It was beyond words. Like a choreographed dance. Subtle and precise. The dark atmosphere accentuated the complex tastes. Time flowed in a way that emphasized the renewal of the present moment. And I got to experience all this with a nomadic creature that gave me her precious time - I could not ask for anything more.
We could have been on the Camino in Spain. Except the meal was better, the service was better. I love Spain having walked the Camino twice, this was as good as (better actually) it gets. Do go.
I've been here a few times but each time it gets worse. It used to be so delicious in the last year it has really gone downhill. The food has become bland and the portion sizes are incredibly small; especially for the money you pay. I won't be back. However the service is pretty good. It's not worth your money though. There are many other excellent restaurants you can go to. I just wanted to edit that as I was going through the other reviews I noticed that the owner insulted someone simply because they gave Burger King 5 stars. How incredibly immature. Now I definitely won't be back. Learn to take constructive criticism.
Go here and get the chefs menu. We had a wonderful evening filled with delicious food and live music. Honestly it’s better than Trough
went for my 25th birthday.. food was absolutely delicious (highly recommend the chocolate terrine dessert) & service was incredible! very informative waitress that helped us interpret the menu.
Amazing combinations of flavour surrounded in twinkly lights
Great Food, Amazing services. Wonderful Atmosphere. Would recommend for any special occasion.
It was our first time back with the new menu. We were pleasantly surprised with how much more we enjoyed the new offerings! This is now our favorite dinner restaurant in Canmore. 4-5 items will be perfect for 2.
My wife and I had our elopement yesterday in Moraine Lake as we had to push our wedding in Toronto back to May of next year due to the COVID pandemic. We ended up coming to Tapas with 2 of our good friends for dinner and we had an AWESOME time! They allowed us to bring our own bottle of champagne and cake. It was a really romantic environment. We were promptly served and didn't wait for our meals to come out. Our cocktails were delicious, the food was AMAZING (especially the lamb, carrots, gnocchi), and the chef even gave us a bottle of Prosecco as a gift. We will definitely be back here in the future. Thanks for making our big day so memorable!
Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, great service. Loved the music stream!
Delicious food but not great service. Wasn't very friendly and not happy with dessert that they served since I could not eat ice cream. Over priced on some items.
Huge fan of Tapas until the most recent experience. Having dined here twice, the food and service were exceptional. However, myself and my partner just tried to order takeout on our way back to Calgary, only to be told "Sorry, no takeout tonight as we are super busy". If this is not a service that you cannot offer 100% of the time when open, please don't advertise it on your website - or at minimum mention restrictions so people can plan accordingly.
Everything was fine, nothing spectacular but nothing wrong with it either. Our server was polite but wasn't able to tell us much about the food we were ordering and wasn't super chatty even when we tried to strike up a conversation with her. We did briefly have a gentleman come to our table, with what I think was a Scottish accent that was tons of fun, he was joking around with us and was able to give us some descriptions on the dish he was dropping off. The food was all decent, nothing jumped out as being fantastic but nothing was terrible either. The trout may have been a little oversalted, the gnocchi was soft and had great texture but the sauce was kind of bland. We had an okay table on the patio with a nice view of the dumpster across the back lane and step ladder attached to the wall. I don't think I'd go back with all the other options around town but I wouldn't avoid the place either. Overall it was just meh.
Dinner
Very romantic and cozy. Love the choices of cheeses, and the mushroom tapas the best. Service was quick. Food was amazing
Probably the best Tapas I have ever eaten. Great little restaurant. Probably only 10 tables max. Food was incredible. Picked 6 dishes to share. Crab in Gazpacho and the Smoked Duck were my favourite. Seriously couldn't fault anything and pretty reasonably priced. £40 a head Inc Sangria..
Sauvage was a highlight of our trip to the Bow Valley! We sat at the bar and enjoyed every creation the bartender prepared and the creativity of every drink on the cocktail menu. We had a couple of small plates and they were amazing. We are still dreaming of the scrumptious potatoes and bacon!! The entire restaurant and vibe is cozy and made for a wonderful place to cap off our amazing vacation. Cheers to a great restaurant and wonderful staff. You must visit if you’re in Banff or Canmore!
honestly, if you want food... go for it. If you're looking for an experience with good management and reliability to execute on special occasions... forget it. One star, because they serve food.... everything else... so disappointed.
I expected the food to be a bit better. We had 6 dishes. Mushrooms & toast (my personal fav), beets, scallop ceviche, tuna, gnocchi & flat iron steak (very blah). Service was great.
Everything we had to eat was really great! Great wine and beer selection. The peanut butter mousse and cheese plate were our favs. Cozy vibe and wasn't very busy so dishes came out quick.
Both the service and food was amazing
The service was good and the food was tasty but very overpriced. We had difficulty booking a reservation because Open Table wasn't working and when we called and left messages, no one called us back. My husband made the reservation by walking into the restaurant and speaking to a server. There were 5 of us but not allowed to have separate bills.
I am a local and Tapas has always been my go to when I have company from out of town. My last experience was very disappointing!! The power went out and I totally understand out of their control but we were asked to pay before we finished our meal. The meal was cold, portions very small - much smaller than I have had before. We were told there was only one seating and then asked to leave because of another seating. We were rushed out with no offer of compensation for what was a very poor meal. I had raved about Tapas to my one friend who had never been there before - she for sure will never be back!! I am not sure I will either.
The chef's table, which resembles a tasting menu but is shared between (a minimum of) 2 people, where each course is a surprise creation of the chef, was a real delight. The salad course of our own meal was the most arresting surprise of what was a hugely varied menu. I might suggest the only possible improvement would be to expand the dessert course of the chef's table to two smaller desserts when 2 people are involved, as opposed to just one, as when the dessert happened not to be to the tastes of either party, it was a sad end to what was truly one of the most enjoyable meals I've ever shared with my father.
Very happy and honoured to be the first customers of the newly branded Sauvage restaurant in Canmore. They have kept the Tapas tradition alive, having created a wonderful 7-course tasting menu which varies day by day. This is an absolutely wonderful culinary journey which is perfect for two people to experience together. Canmore has an incredible selection of fine restaurants, and Sauvage ranks right at the very top. The service was very attentive and timely, which is not something we can always expect in this pandemic environment. Kudos to Chef Tracy and her dedicated staff for hitting a grand slam home run with their new restaurant. We're looking forward to coming back soon!
