Dinner
La Brezza at 990 1st Ave NE in Calgary is a small, casual neighborhood restaurant serving lunch and dinner. It’s an indoor restaurant and not noisy. Not fancy, good portions, and good service. Entrees range $18-25 for pasta dishes and 29-34 for steak or salmon. Lots of tempting choices My wife and I had dinner at La Brezza and really enjoyed it. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our service was prompt and friendly. My wife ordered an Italian chardonnay $10 suggested by the waiter and I had an Italian beer $7. We split a Caesar salad. My wife ordered cannelloni and I had the veal parmigiana. Both entrees came as ordered accompanied by fresh vegetables and were delicious. Nice presentations, and good portions. Service was very friendly and prompt. Our overall experience was very good. With wine, beer, salad, tax and tip our dinner expense was $115.
Awesome food in a cozy location. Highly recommended.
Best meal and impeccable service. Can't wait to go back.
One of the best in the city. Great food and great hosts.
FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! other places would come a little short to compare with la brezza. if you guys haven't tried this place make sure to put it on your next to go to restaurant list. Just a little about this place... it was nice and comfortable and the servers had top class service. definitely gonna be a long time customer.
Service was good! The pasta dishes are great but I wouldn't recommend the veal or chicken dishes. Couldn't try the steak because they ran out at 6:30 on a Friday night.
Just the most tasteful spaghetti and meatballs ever.
Amazing food and service. Very accommodating and lovely people.
Outstanding food and service. Highly recommended.

Amazing home cooked food. Dessert was awesome. Service was number 1 and well priced.
Excellent food and service.
A Calgary institution, we have been there a few times - however when the iconic owner Marco Abdi passed away, we wondered if it's be the same quality. Happy to report it has kept its standards intact! Same cozy atmosphere, same friendly staff, same quality food. From the traditional Ceasar dressing to the perfect al dente pasta, it holds its charm.
Very nice restaurant, ambiance is nice and it is family friendly. Food is 4 stars, very good but not over the top. I have been several times and the food and service is constantly good. I will be going again.
Amazing Italian food. On the prairies and they managed to get calamari done right! Skilled and experienced staff. Good place for dates and quality food.
I have been coming here for many years, always great food and great service. Highly recommended.
Wonderful in everyway
Calamari was good. We ordered our food, they brought the wrong dish. They told us that's what we ordered when it was not. The pasta was over cooked. Never discounted the dish or apologized. Just told us we were wrong. They said they would get in contact to make the situation better. Never did. Continued to message them, they opened the messages and never responded. I live in bridgeland and it's a bummer I had such an awful experience. Definitely would not return. Waste of a hundred bucks.
So we walk into the restaurant, which we've been to before and had an amazing delicious experience, hence the return. This time, I looked around and thought, oh no, they've lost our reservation, because every table in sight was full! She then comes and says, come this way...I was like, oh good there's a back room in this little house I didn't know about...Ummm NO. We were wielded past the bar into an unwelcoming narrow staircase which led into their dungeon, I mean basement! This should not be an option for dining! At first we were cramped into the front little table which was being used for storage service and then they set up another table for us to move to. It was by, what should be a charming basement fireplace, but the smell of gas leaking from it did nothing for me or my head after an hour! The room was tiny and noisy as they crammed 16 of us down there at tables. The food: The starter was fine, a Caprese which did not have bocconcini as stated but sliced Italian mozzarella. You cannot mess up this simple classic salad. Sadly for the mains we both ordered the same dish, which last time my BF ordered and it was amazing. This time? Oh god! It was difficult to eat; it arrived tepid and worse flavourless! Both the pasta (over cooked and broken) & chicken! I asked for parmigiano (which I'm not sure where they get it from, but it's not real parmigiano!) and covered everything with it and doused it in pepper! I left the pasta and half the chicken and decided to at least take the chicken home to my cat. He enjoyed it! The sauce on the pasta was literally canned crushed tomatoes...blah; not exactly fine dining or culinary art! Sadly the chicken had the same sauce and no seasoning at all. It felt like they ran out of sauce and quickly had to open a can of crushed tomatoes to make do. The waiter was here and there and seemed on a mental vacation. I finally had to ask another table if I could borrow their salt shaker. No comment. I felt rather ill after this experience. We cut our losses and didn't take dessert or cappuccini for fear! It was such a painfully awful experience it's actually funny. How can a place fall so quickly after only a few months?!?!?! Needless to say, we'll not be back.
Best calamari in town! Great home made style Italian food. A+. They do have a new chief as momma is taking a break. I hope he does good things.
Favorite restaurant to go to when visiting Calgary.
Excellent food and the staff was amazing
Great food and super kind staff! They even gave us a couple of masks for our uber ride home!
Good food good plate and family owned service that deserves 3 stars
Great local food. Seafood not to be missed.
Excelente cozy restaurant. Great wine selection food was excellent. Staff was super attentive and excellent service.
Great food.
Have been there now several times after discovering this place. Love it and the owner and staff are amazing, most important food is authentic, fresh and delicious. Also if looking for a venue there is even a separate meeting place. Had our company Christmas celebration here, was so much fun. Thanks Filomena and Momma and all for a great time.
Meal type
Our Dinner Club's February Dinner at La Brezza Ristorante started out great. The cozy house restaurant in Bridgeland was packed with customers and there was lots of laughter while we were having fun with the Host Marco and Michael our Waiter. Everyone was exclaiming how good the food was (especially the Calamari) when the appetizer courses started coming out. It started going down hill when the pasta course came around, as the pasta was not as flavorful or temperature correct as one would expect from a highly rated Italian Restaurant. It got much worse when the entrees were placed on our table. Almost everyone's vegetables were ice cold. Some of the Tenderloins were not Tenderloins and not cooked to order. The Lamb was tough and those who ordered the chicken claimed it had was bland. I think the Salmon was fine or Kathryn was just being polite. After discussing our concerns with our waiter (Marco the Host had left for the evening) they deducted some of the liquors and specialty coffees from some of the bills. I did get a call from Marco 2 days later apologizing and claiming that they wanted to do something for the group that attended and would be getting back to me in two days after he talked to the owner . So far I have not heard back from him. The Southern Alberta Dinner Club ( The SAD Club) normally keeps our reviews private within the club for future reference only and do not usually give public reviews. Since it was my recommendation to go to La Brezza after having positive experiences here years ago, I felt I should post a public review in this particular case since I have never received such negative feedback from members in the past and frankly I had to agree with them. Luckily for me only 1/3 of the group showed up this particular evening. I heard that the Main Chef had the evening off this particular Friday night. Hopefully La Brezza can use this as constructive information in order to uphold their present 4+ rating.
Great service and good. The calamari is actually best I've ever had.
Some of the least professional service I've ever had, quality of food is not proportional to the price. There are many other Italian places in Calgary with much better food and a better value.
Service
Always the best place to go for pasta
Hidden Secret with wonderful food & great service.
Have been at La Brezza twice in the past ten days. The food is amazing, the waiters very friendly and attentive. The down side is: the owner carries on her business in the small restaurant, meets sales people, talks loudly on her cell phone while we are trying to have a nice quiet business lunch. I really think she need to get a business office away from the restaurant to make her phone calls and carry on day to day business. Yesterday, we could hardly hear the waiter talk over the loud business going on.
Excellent food and service, worth the drive from anywhere in downtown for great Italian food!
We had an enjoyable and very funny evening in La Brezza. I hope the patient waitress was not too tired to serve us and ask a few times before getting an order or an answer from us. The food was very nice. I ordered linguini Mediterranean with jumbo prawns and at the end was happy with the choice. La Brezza is located in the residential area of Calgary, so you can walk after having a good meal and make some exercise before getting to the downtown.
Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and kind staff. Really enjoyed dining here!
Fettucini Carbonara was fantastic!!
Service
The service and my meal the veal dish the breeze was amazing
A cozy little Italian restaurant with amazing dishes and great atmosphere. Superb menu selection and the staff provide great service.
Fantastic service but my food was so-so...
Good Food, great service.
Dinner
I like to read the reviews before booking a reservation in a restaurant that is not franchised. As it might be a hit or miss. I got mislead here... The portions were very generous and we enjoyed the home like decor. The INGREDIENTS QUALITY and FLAVOUR were the PROBLEM, not what one would expect from an establishment that claims to be Italian. Overcooked pasta drowned in a bland sauce (sauce definitely from a can), I suspect that the Parmesan cheese is the kraft brand, the seafood was tough and rubbery. The "mark up" on wine is significantly above average of most restaurant. It's outrageous to pay that much to have such a disappointing experience. Service was ok but the team in the kitchen is the problem. When the product is bad what can the person delivering it to you do abt it. I feel sorry for the waiters/tress. Whoever wrote good comments about this place must have been bribed to do so or are related to the owner. Do yourself a favor, Don't waste your hard earned money here.
Excellent service. The dishes are prepared from scratch and are authentic Italian cuisine. One of the best quaint places to eat in Calgary.
Calamari is the best. And the salads are good. Service was ok, one the owners came by to say hello which I think saved the day a bit. Rest of the food tasted a bit average.
Authentic Italian flavour. Cozy environment. Service a bit slow and the desserts were great. Appies and entree were excellent however. Reasonably priced, would go back to try other menu items.
WONDERFUL BRUSHETTA, my pasta was amazing I had some sort of bolegnaise dish and loved it! Super cozy atosphere, total family feel! Staff was wonderful! ! will absolutely return!
Home made sauce and pasta, excellent italian homemade and atmosphere of home
Incredible food, excellent service, worth the visit and more. Italian at its best! Will definitely be coming back for more!
Amazing meal, quick to seat our table of 7 with no notice. Best lasagna we've ever had. Great service, waiter was amazing and food was even better!
Top quality service.
Delicious Veal alla Brezza and the specials are really great as well. Support local restaurants ????????❤️
Calamari was excellent, as was their cannelloni. Homemade foccacia bread was great!
Amazing Italian food. Friendly staff and very tasty food. Went with wife and 6 year old. Everybody enjoyed their meal. I would highly recommend.
Had lunch here with a friend, place was easy to find, and it was a small cozy restaurant setting. The server was friendly and attentive. There is a small parking lot to park at as well. The calamari was great, my pasta was good. I'm not a pasta or Italian cuisine connoisseur, but for the price and such, it was an overall enjoyable meal with nice atmosphere. I would recommend this place.
Friendly and courteous staff. Very good food but if you're hungry, you'll leave hungry. Portions are small and the food is pricey. Noisy atmosphere!
Definitely it wasn't Italian food because I spent a lot of time dining in Italy. The meat smelled and tasted old or freezer burnt. Very dissatisfied will not return.
The food was decent, if a little bland. Our big problem was when my wife took her mask off and was told by the waiter "Ah! There's that pretty face. You shouldn't hide it behind cloth." he then apologized to me and not her. Even If the food were the best we had ever had, we still wouldn't go back.
An enjoyable experience. The food was excellent; prepared quickly, appeared authentically Italian and tasted delicious. The Italian Wedding soup was the best tasted so far.
Great service, great food. Loved it here
Great weather, a nice patio in a trendy part of town and fabulous Italian food. What a great way to spend an evening.
Excellent food... so tasty and delicious it will make you feel like you are in Italy. The family business takes care of you like you are at their home. Love the calamari, brushetta and lasagna. Each time we have eaten here, I cant wait to come back.
Had canneloni and it was very good. Always enjoy the food here.
The food, atmosphere and service is great. A little disappointed with my last visit because of the huge difference in portion size between the regular pasta dishes and the gluten free(which you pay more for) and the sub par customer service. Usually a fantastic place to go hopefully this is was just an off night.
The food in this Calgary Italian restaurant was delicious and the atmosphere was just as delightful. I had no idea that this intimate and precious setting has been available in Calgary for over 30 years. Well done!
Everyone was super friendly and the food was delicious!
I had the salmon with a side of veggies and GF pasta. My friend had the chicken. Everything was super tasty. Friendly service too. Brad, our very attentive waiter, helped us work through the menu and meal specials with confidence and energy. His recommended selection of the Italian red wine was perfect for our chosen dinner selections.
Home style cooking
Amazing food and great service. Highly recommend the calamari ????

Delicious!
What a fun atmosphere. They werr a little blocked so food was slow but it was worth the wait!
Don't try to cook like an Italian .Your food is not to be desired for This food is NOT ITALIAN.
liked it
Good food great service
Great food, great service.
Friendly wait staff, delicious food, excellent atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.
Well it was my first time dining here including my 3 friends. A really cozy place. The Calamari is a must. I was disappointed though about the service. It was my friend's birthday (I even put the occasion at open table). I requested for 2 Tiramisu with 1 candle each after we're done eating our main courses. Once we finished our main courses the server who asked "What kind of desserts we wanted?" So I kinda assumed that there going to put candles on the desserts. Our desserts came out and there were no candles. I was so disappointed about what had happened. I thought my request was read but I guess they never read the request portion. I don't know if the management reads any of the requests there. When I talked to the server about the situation he apologized, but asked me if I wanted the Tiramisu taken out of the bill Duhhh!!!! Offcourse they made a mistake at least give us an incentive. It's just a simple request I don't mind paying for the candles and desserts at least be responsible in reading any requests. I don't think they would go above and beyond with there service. I won't recommend anybody to go for their birthday celebration or other special occasion here. I would never go back in this restaurant again.
This is the best experience. ☺ synergy, food and ambiance are exceptional. You feel like you are home. I love this place! ☺
Very nice little family owned and operated restaurant. Highly recommend you try the calimari!
Awesome family owned Italian food. A friend recommended and we definitely enjoyed.
Dimmed, romantic atmosphere. Great service Great wine Incredibly fresh pasta, in-house baked bread and flavourful seafood. Reasonably priced Would absolutely dine here again!!
Small restaurant in a character house. In business for almost 40 years. Old family recipes carried forward from original owners Mother in law. Comfortable and homey. Staff are delightful. Enjoy.
We took our visiting niece to La Brezza for dinner last week and the whole meal was beautifully handled. As a celiac I had an excellent Caesar salad sans croutons and the calamari though listed as an appetizer made an excellent main course. My friend had veal parmigiana which he thoroughly enjoyed and our niece had a pasta dish topped with shrimp which she too really liked. There wasn't much room left for dessert so we just had coffee and tea. The service was efficient and we weren't kept waiting for any length of time for any of our meals. All in all it was a good choice especially as we had a guest from out of town
Amazing as always!
Food portions appeared small when they first arrived at the table, but it is sooo filling! The quality is fantastic, and the restaurant is small and cost. Fantastic dining experience, 10/10 would go again!
I would have expected a high caliber dining experience from this place considering the hype, location and ratings. What a disappointment and embarrassment for my significant other's birthday celebration this turned out to be. The waiter suggested Ragu and made it sound very appealing, so we both ordered it. The beef was so tough we could not chew it or cut it for that matter, so I raised the issue to the owner who had the chef send out tender beef chunks. Due to the fact it was all mixed together in a Ragu stew, it really made me curious as to how the chef could selectively pick out tender pieces vs tough pieces and why he would not notice that in the first place. For dessert, they boasted about their fine Teramisu cake, but once again, it was extremely bland, lacked flavor and definitely was not in the realm of world class desserts. I did not leave a tip and most definitely will not revisit this restaurant. Huge let down.
Don't ask for vongole pasta, it doesn't come with a creamy white sauce. It comes with a soup...
lasagna on point
Stopped here for a quick weekday lunch with my Dad and baby. Our waiter was excellent, he asked the usual higher end dining questions (sparkling water vs. tap etc) but he refilled our tap waters happily and even entertained the baby while we we were paying the bill. The focaccia bread to start was nice with a delicious salty crust. We both had the spaghetti and meatballs that included golden raisins adding a nice natural sweet taste. For lunch, it was a little bit more expensive than normal at $15 - $25 a plate, but I felt like the quality and service was there.
We had reservations. If you don't, then don't be surprised if they have to turn you away. The restaurant is very small and cozy, homey, and quite classy (but not lofty or overly posh). The lighting is low and romantic, and the proprietors are lovely & accommodating. Most importantly, the food is stellar. Keep in mind that they're not microwaving anything from what I could see. No heat lamps, and no reheating of frozen prepared dishes. As far as I could tell, everything was freshly prepared. This means you should expect a longer wait than at other restaurants. Your strategy should therefore be to order one of their hors d'oeuvres along with your drinks. Have a glass of wine, sample some grilled Brussels sprouts, and enjoy the company of your partner while you wait. Take your time, and savour everything. Don't rush. And don't expect anything to come at a bargain price ... You're paying for an authentic dining experience, so plan to spend more here than you would at somewhere else inferior. It's worth it.
Great food and hospitality.
Nice and cozy, and great food. Was there for a retirement party and the staff was extremely friendly and efficient. The meals came out hot and fresh and absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked wonderfully and the steak I had was a perfect medium rare. I would definitely go again! (Try the Italian screwdriver)
not happy at all! took someone for their birthday and this person was beyond upset with the waiter. i ordered the parmigiana, server never asked me about veal or chicken but i did say chicken. He kept telling how he liked his parmigiana. Placed the order and when it came i took a bite, and something was off from the color to the texture. When the waiter came back i asked him is this veal or chicken? and he responded with veal. i kindly reminded him saying i ordered chicken, to his ridiculous response of the kitchen is super backed up and it'll take around 20 minutes loud enough that 2 other tables decided to stop talking and stare in my direction. I didn't want to cause a fuss so i said okay ill try this he then said he would talk to the manager to see what he can do, he later comes by asking how it is as i basically played with my food like a 2 year old would. Clearly upset i didn't respond, later on the person i was with gave me a piece of their chicken and i took the cheese off the veal and put it on the chicken and ate that. when it came to pick up the plates the waiter decides to not help the situation by saying "hey you ate all the cheese" at this point i was clearly not having it. I asked for dessert menu ordered it we shared it but didn't finish it, as both my self and the person i was with were clearly upset. when serving the dessert, he also made a comment of "see they just got their food" AS IF I CARE! fine dining should come with fine customer service. The bill comes and he takes off the dessert which was $9 compared to my $30+ incorrect main course. RIDICULOUS. the fact he made a mistake and then when i mentioned it i was told the kitchen is backed up! do you think i care I'm sorry to say what happened to customer service!? i arrived first, that other table can wait. Any other restaurant I've been to if a mistake has occurred they correct immediately! and then help with the bill as well. Clearly your guests are not happy stop trying to elaborate on your reasoning by telling them the other tables just got their dishes. i for one will not be coming back, nor will the person i was with. Giving the one star is being generous 0/5 if you ask me!
Amazing family run Italian food. Everything I've tried on the menu has been amazing. Great spot for lunch.
The food is amazing, the best Italian Restaurant, staff is so friendly and most of all, the owner is so humble and nice Definetely highly recommended
Celebrated my dads retirement here. Staff is great and food is so fresh and delicious.
Nice quiet meal for a Thursday. Food was great as well.
Great service, dinner was delicious, and the owner came over to say hello and to see how our meal and night was going. Definitely a rare thing to see today but was really appreciated.
Cozy, great ambiance and service. And the calamari? Humm!! The best????????????
Amazing food and service! The calamari is by far my favourite dish! It’s the best Italian restaurant that I have tried in Calgary and will continue to go back!
Amazing food and staff! Highly recommend!
Best calamari period. i sometimes go in just for that with my wife. the service could be much better. And the other dishes are unique,. not as good as it use to be. Still worth trying, especially for the calamari.
Was here for a corporate lunch and it was not very good compared to the first time I was here years ago. Portion size of the spaghetti and meatballs was pathetic and the salad was soggy. I will give it another shot one of these days and it might change my opinion of the place, however, the same level of quality and consistency should always be expected no matter the occasion.
The service is amazing, butttt the carbonara is life changing! Definitely try this place out :)
Get the cannelloni!
I attended an event at La Brezza this week. Excellent food. Great service.
Food is awesome.
Cozy and great place to get amazing Italian food.
The absolute best pasta in Calgary! Outdoor patio had a great atmosphere and the staff were awesome! Definitely recommend!
The Calimari here is seriously life changing
Shared a delicious 4 course meal with my Girlfriend on valentines day at La Brezza. Our stuffed salmon was cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed the calamari! I would absolutely recommend La Brezza
Must diner here. Friendly service and authentic Italian food. We will be back!
Awesome pasta, good wine and a relaxed e environment.
Excellent food and service.
Outstanding!
Went for the first time last night. I don't understand the high reviews. This was subpar Italian food at best. Mercado and Bon Terra are way better for basically the same price. I ordered the Mediterranean Linguine that had prawns and asparagus on it. For $29.00, it had four prawns, one strand of asparagus, and hardly any sauce. My husband can make better Italian food.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!Really good home made Italian food. by far one of the best Italian restaurant i ever been to. service was excellent, place was very unique. perfect place to bring my girlfriends.i have already recommended this place to all my close friends and they loved it! gotta try it for yourselves
I have to give it 1 star because that is the lowest option. This place assumes because they are family owned and local that they are the best. The arrogance by the ostentatious front of house/manager or what ever he is, is sickening. Give us some space while we are eating not everyone wants to be your friend. How about instead of offering me a minimal discount on my order that was a disaster from the start, you get the order and food right? Never returning and I don't know how they have such a high rating on google.
I have always had excellent meals at LaBrezza, and this time was no exception. Starting with Bruschetta as always, with a wonderful Minestrone Zuppa for starter. The main course was beautiful the house specialty, Linguini Scoglio! What a wonderful place for a business lunch. A1 food, A1 service and a bill that won't hurt the finances. Highly recommend!
A great place to go for a evening dinner, these guys take pride in what they do, very friendly service, high quality food, a wonderful experience overall.
Great food, perfect ambiance, service just right.
LOVED this place! This was our first time at this restaurant and I would love to return again soon! Came here with another couple for a dinner date. The waiter and the general manager were fantastic and very entertaining, food was delicious. My husband is not a a fan of calamari and he LOVED the calamari from la Brezza. It was also a very nice tough for the owner to come and say hello. Food is delicious, atmosphere is warm and inviting. Highly recommend!
What an amazing experience. Super friendly staff including the owner. Best Italian meal I’ve ever had. Will definitely go back many more times!
you have to go here!!!!
Wonderful dinner with a friend
Amazing restaurant! Reminds me of the days when you gather with your loved ones and have a wonderful dinner and have a an awesome night! Makes you feel like you're part of a family. Would 100% recommend to everyone. ????
Used to be really good before the pandemic. Last two times we tried it, it was very disappointing. Over a $100 for horrible food. Not coming back.

My colleague and I were visiting Calgary for work. The food and service were amazing! I wish I remembered our server's name, but she was so attentive and fast. She was friendly and made sure that we had a great visit. The soup and chicken parm were both outstanding. If I am ever back in Calgary, this place is at the top of my list! It is a must try for Italian food in Calgary. My colleague forgot her purse in the restaurant, so they called us right away to inform us. They went to extra mile to stay open late until our Uber could turn around and get back! Amazing service!
I went to La Brezza for the first time with my husband to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. This is officially my favourite restaurant and I will be coming back again and again! Right when we walked in we were greeted and welcomed in. Our server was super friendly and really easy going. The cocktails were delicious and their wine list is healthy, but not overwhelming. Now the food... it was absolutely delicious. The calamari was said to be a signature dish and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly cooked (not at all rubbery), seasoned and tossed in the most flavourful tomato sauce!
Meal type
Had an amazing Valentine's Day dinner at La Brezza. Staff were friendly, food came out quickly, and was absolutely delicious. Might be the best italian food in Calgary. Definitely worth checking out! I highly recommend starting with the calimari!
(Translated) Impossible to praise the Kalam, typical Italian family business / Impossible not to praise the Calamari, typical Italian family tratoria. (Original) Kalamarı övmemek imkansız , tipik İtalyan aile işletmesi / Impossible not to praise the Calamari , typical Italian family tratoria.
The best ever
Desert was amazing and they have great wine recommendations but I was expecting more from the main course.
Great Italian food. Authentic and a really cute room.
Food was incredible. The calamari was the best I've ever had!!! If your lucky enough to go on a night the owner is there she is the cutest little Italian lady who mingles! Ask her how to eat spaghetti and she will show you!
Dinner
Perfect place for friends and family. So happy we were able to visit La Brezza Ristorante and my friends were very happy and had a big "BURP" too... All their food was so delicious and I cant even stop myself to order more!ahhahahahah....Im lovin it so much! Great and so friendly staff as well....THUMBS UP!
Absolutely horrible. Will never go back. We booked a rez, showed up on time and were seated. There were only two other tables in the main area and we were in sight of bar and all staff rushing back and forth. We sat there for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement, no water and no menu. When we finally got up to leave the waiter wished us a good evening and hoped everything was good. It dawned on him that he hadn't actually served us, so he caught up to us on the steps and asked us to come back in saying he hadn't seen us. He had served the table 6 ft away from us their appies, chatted with them about menu changes for summer and refilled their drinks. We were hoping that this would be our go to in the new neighbourhood, but now we will steer clear.
Very disappointed in the food. The calamari was very rubbery and tasteless suggesting it was the Sysco pre battered frozen heat and serve type. The shrimp appie was over cooked.Lasagna was a bunch of noodles with the occasional smear of meat sauce and ricotta on a few of the noodles. The atmosphere on the patio with the band was really good however. Service was lacking
Great place. Great meal. Will come back again.
Meal type
Pretty good food, excellent mussels, service was attentive and fast. Skip the Caprese salad
We came here with a large party for my fathers 80th birthday. Despite the large group the wait staff were very attentive and the service was quick! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the food was fantastic. We'll be back!
The Calamari. Best I've ever had. Even my colleauge who 'doesn't like calamari' dug in for seconds. Great service Great atmosphere. The owner came around to see where we from and if we enjoyed our meal. Best pasta I've ever had. Everything homemade and top notch. Need to attend a tapa/energy pairing night ASAP at this gem of a restaurant. Can't wait to come back.
Great food, great service. Loved it
Service
Quite frankly, one of the most amazing Italian restaurants. I have ever been at. 5/5 recommend it! Amazing for dates and anniversaries. Food was great, fresh and completely tastes authentic. Server was professional. Just what you can expect from a restaurant! Will be for sure coming back.
Excellent calamari here, a must order. Had a shrimp pasta in garlic rose sauce, very tasty. Service was a bit confused, mixed up our orders a bit
Made for a lovely date night. Terrific service and excellent food!
Best place for a family night out. Excellent service, wonderful food, the whole package!
Really delicious food but a kind of cramped space and a little expensive for what you're getting
Absolutely wonderful service! The house wine was lovely and the meal was absolutely delicious! The service was exceptional and the server was not only friendly but made us feel at home and welcomed to relax and enjoy our time after closing.
Fantastic Staff, tranquil atmosphere and excellent food!
Such amazing food! Enjoyed many times in the restaurant and did takeout a couple weeks ago-so good! Certainly elevated our home dining experience. Reminded to leave this review because I went searching for their page to order again!
Good food
The food is delicious
The calamari is amazing, but quite overpriced. The bread for starters is really good, and the veal was pretty dry. The mushroom sauce had too much butter for my taste but was still good, as were the sautéed mushrooms in the seasonal vegetables. The pasta came out cold for one of us. The waiters and host were extremely friendly, almost effusive - I feel that they were sincere but to me it was almost to the point of insincerity. But truly I think this restaurant is staffed by absolutely lovely people, it's too bad I was disappointed with the food for the price. I'd go here again though!
Hands down best Italian food in the city !! Amazing atmosphere and amazing people
Exceptional Did take-out, had their Take-Out Special, with the carbonara and the spaghetti meatballs. Tasted oh so good, and what a value. Highly recommended.
Went to try out La Brezza’s new patio because we’ve heard great things about the restaurant pre-covid. The service was mediocre (we think the server forgot to put our order in), and the bill was $150 (before tip) for 4 cocktails, 2 appetizers, and 2 salads with chicken. The food quality we would describe as “I could easily make something better at home” and was extremely disappointing given the price. Didn’t expect romaine lettuce in a caprese salad.
Great food and nice local family running it. This is a goto for sure.
Very good food. You will test the real Italian food. Mama Angela the best authentic Italian food she cook's. Best experience ever amazing food nice place. I recomand this place for food lovers
Iconic restaurant, what amazing food and service we last last night.
A nice little reasonably priced italian spot serving what you would expect at an italian restaurant to get you out of the downtown core, cozy atmosphere, feels like your at a family dinner - great calamari
Worst costumer service I've received in a restaurant.
Reviews are accurate, cozy restaurant with good food and generous portions.
Disappointing Although the owner came to apologize 1) We were told to be done within an hour since we didn't have a reservation. When we left, the place wasn't even 1/3 full 2) We ordered a meal that we saw on the online menu that they apparently don't make and don't update their online menu. They agreed to make it for us, very nice we thought, but it came out cold and under cooked. We were told that the kitchen staff were probably overwhelmed and didn't know how to make a meatball sandwich. They reheated it but it took another 20 min 3) The beer came out with a lime resting on top which the server pushed into the bottle with his bare hand in front of us. When we complained, the owner apologized but the server said " that's how we do it, we wash and what did we expect- for him to use tongs?" Very argumentative and rude. He said that we should be thankful that he sat us without a reservation. 4) The server never came back to our table (until he brought the bill), another person brought our food and the owner came when we complained. The server said that he "didn't want to bother us" 5) We ordered nachos with a meat sauce and it came with sausage. We would have had it changed but our server never came back. The nachos were actually good, however cold as well. We were told by the owner that the kitchen staff probably made the mistake because no one ever orders it with meat sauce and maybe they didn't have any. The rude server said it wasn't his fault because he put the order in correctly. Maybe if he would have come back he would have known the mistake. 6) The owner was very apologetic and took off the sandwich from the bill. She said that people need to be more kind and understanding during the pandemic. She has "cried more this year than since her husband died". While I definitely sympathize, this is a business we were trying to support. We were paying for our meal and good service in which every aspect was incorrect with rudeness on top of a very disappointing meal. We will never be back and this will be a story shared with many. Having to pay for excuses, inappropriate TMI from the owner, inept service, incorrect meals and unsanitary handling was a hard pill to swallow.
Fantastic food! Worth every penny! The penne arrabiata was amazing, and the calamari is phenomenal, and that's coming from someone who is not usually a fan of seafood!
Took care of my wifes birthday party with a great exclusive service! Everyone was terrific from the owner, the server and momma! Worlds best calamari and the chicken parm was to die for.
Meal type
This is an exceptional family business. The pasta is pretty good but the real magic is in the sauce.
The food was pretty good and our server was friendly. It has a cute and quaint ambiance to it. The manager put a damper on our evening though. Forwarning, if you have a gift card and don’t order wine the manager looks down on you. Use the whole gift card as he expects you to put additional tip down. Not sure if I will revisit this place again.
Dinner
Very friendly and great food
Cheerful and very friendly service from the staff, they pay so much attention and are very helpful with any questions. Italian food at it's finest, they only use the freshest ingredients and serve large portions that leave you unable to make fast movements for the next 2 hours ! You will always feel like it's a home away from home since it is a former residence turned into the restaurant that it is today. Definitely recommend to everybody in town looking to dine out on any occasion whatsoever
A great family restaurant that has been around for decades. The food and service are always terrific!
Delicious food, great service!
Great calm restaurant. Fantastic service. A great Italian restaurant.
Calamari is to die for! The way it is prepared, clearly lives up to the standard of best in the city! Great place to come on my lunch break. Service is also quick and friendly staff. Definitely recommend as a place to grab a quick bite, or a night out for fine Italian cuisine dining.
Great homemade Italian food in a cosy converted house. We we're a large group and had great service.
Best Italian food in town. Great service and very accommodating. The calimari is amazing
Food, service, wine, all amazing. Get the calamari, you won't be disappointed.
I really enjoyed the meatballs and spaghetti. They have fresh bread that is made in house and to die for! Really great atmosphere inside and the staff are fantastic. Authentic cuisine with stellar service.
Fantastic meal! Best bruschetta I’ve ever had!
Great food with very friendly family style service
I went here with a large group of friends. The service was good. The menu selection was reasonably large with differing protein options. The servings were surprisingly large considering the prices and quite delicious. The atmosphere and decor was unique but not distracting. I certainly enjoyed my experience here.
It was excellent. I drive by all the time and say I would want to go. I finally did tonight and was not disappointed, food was fantastic, service was great and overall just a good atmosphere. I will definitely be back in the future.
A delicious, cozy, classic.
Apart from the most genuine and sincere serving in the city, the Chef's selection was an incredible experience, when every bite is divine and every serving is beautiful. Definitely one of the better restaurants around!
There is a nice sunny patio now. The service was excellent and high quality food
Wonderful real Italian.
Came here for my birthday dinner. Food was average and not to par with it being advertised as a fancy Italian restaurant. Service was not professional and I could not wait to leave the restaurant to go elsewhere to have the birthday cake.
My wife and I had a nice meal together. Wasn't the first time we were here, but it had been a while. Food was quite good, but "something" was missing.... Can't quite put my finger on it. Left without a burning desire to return soon.
Good Italian food and good service
Delicious!
The calamari is a must. Don't pass it up!!! Great food and great staff! Book ahead to make sure you get a table!!
Very local and very friendly restaurant. You will get a better experience if you avoid going during weekend busy hours, instead try visiting on a weekday evening.
A nice quiet restaurant with a friendly wait staff. The brushcetta and calamari were quite good, but the portions were a little small considering the prices. The special was ragou which was great, it had two cheese stuffed meatballs among other stuff which was tasty. The canellonis were clearly made with care and were good as well.
Service
Staff very good i personally did not like the food that much it was not bad by any means
Make sure Michael serves you when you go there if you can! But you'll have a great time regardless! This place is delightful - cozy, intimate, and as legit Italian as it gets. The cuisine is phenomenal!
Amazing, the best Italian Food I've ever had. Sad to hear the passing of Marco he was really nice and will be dearly missed.
Always great food
Food was okay. One of the servers was really funny.
Overpriced, small parking lot - hard to park bigger vehicles/SUVs
No comments to offer.
Very good
Our favourite Italian restaurant in Calgary hands down! Their calamari is cooked to perfection with their home made sauce. Our favourite main entree is their seafood linguine, so tasty:) Friendly service and great overall experience keeps us coming back for more!
Best Italian restaurant in the city; that's still standing. And the lasagna! Oh, man. Bucket list item. ????
Decided to give this place a second chance. First time was terrible. Second time I stuck to simple appetizers in hopes that it would be decent. Soggy Nachos, rubbery calamari, stale bruschetta bread. Sorry Brezza, need to be better. Won’t be back.
Amazing food, staff and atmosphere!! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
I went to La Brezza for dinner today (Nov 2013) and I was sadly disappointed. I went with my girlfriend. We ordered the "Prosciutto & Melon" for the appetizer - that was simply three huge slices of cantaloupe with pieces of prosciutto carelessly draped around the melon chunks - I seriously could have made that myself and I'm far from being a chef...they could have presented it much better by at least cutting up the huge slices of melon into smaller presentable pieces. Okay, then I had a glass of the house chardonnay - terrible....I could barely drink it. My second glass of white was a blend (sauvignon pinot? the waitress suggested it) and it was no better. My girlfriend had the blueberry tea (grand marnier, amarettto with tea) which she was okay with thankfully. Our entrees - I had the veal scallopini ("Piccata Al Limone") and my gf had the special swordfish. My veal was okay....a bit sour....but my gf's swordfish was terrible - it was not fresh at all and we have had swordfish all over our travels in North America (Tommy Bahama in the States has amazing swordfish and I think the best we had was at Eddy V's in San Diego). The pasta that comes as a side with your entree is a joke - it's nothing special at all especially for an Italian restaurant. At least our waitress removed my gf's entree off the bill since she noticed my gf barely touched her entree. Just very very disappointed. I don't know how this restaurant has such a high rating. Even the service is mediocre - the waitress we had lacked any sort of enthusiasm. I don't have another Italian restaurant suggestion in Calgary since I am from Toronto....but Broken Plate restaurant in Calgary is amazing - I had their Lobster Ravioli yesterday (along with appetizers and their Kendall Jackson Chardonnay is very drinkable) and it just blows La Brezza out of the water. Trust me on this.
Fun atmosphere (family italian) from waiting staff to kitchen food and beverages were top notch
Always excellent.
Great place, service was amazing. Will be back.
Great atmosphere and a dining experience that is hard to come by these days. Fantastic service and the calamari is perfect!
Dine in
Overpriced and terrible food. Bad service with terrible ambience. The reviews were very misleading.
Best Italian in Calgary
Great gluten free options available.
The group I went with really enjoyed this place. I'd have to say the servers were the most friendly and personable staff I have encountered in years. They made jokes and suggestions and really made the experience fun. The Calimari was very good and most people's entrees were delicious. I would definitely take the waiters suggestions into account when ordering, and maybe save room for a dessert.
