Food was on point. Server was friendly and personable. The dough used for the pizza crust was probably the best I've had in Alberta. Unreal job on the pizza. Proteins were well seasoned. The cheesecake was probably the best I have had in a longgggg time.

If you are craving for Italian Cuisine, you would not want to miss this place. They serve breakfast buffet for $25 or Ala Carte service. Either way, we love and enjoyed the food. It was worth the price you pay for. We ordered the following: Bison Benedict, Breakfast Poutine, Pappardelle, Spaghetti. The ambiance of the place is just refreshing that you definitely will enjoy every bite as you look out viewing the surrounding mountains. Place is clean and well organized. Sure some pieces of fruits here and there will accidentally hit the floor, but staff are on the ball to keep the place tidy. Definitely want to commend an awesome service of the two staffs who served us, Shane and Sueanne. Thank you for the service and for making us feel welcomed. Thank you Sueanne for that extra coffee you offered for us to bring the room. That was definitely a nice touch, which kept us up and awake. You can never say no to extra caffeine. To the cooks and chefs who prepared our meals, thank you as it we were satisfied each meal we had during our stay. The presentation is at par with the taste. Overall, the experience was great. Everyone made us feel welcomed. Will surely be back as we know we are in great care.

Bunch of great people, fun staff and great views. Had the amanti Della carne pizza and it was very good, excellent ingredients, cornmeal on the dough.. Good pizza, good espressos and excellent desert cream cheese caramel and candied pecans. Andrew was one of our servers, Sabrina and all were great. Even was helped out by a Carlos from a sister bar Blacktail. See you again next season!

Food and service were fantastic. Good selection of "local" beers. Really nice ambience. Had the Shortrib Papedelle, nicely cooked pasta. Shortrib was tender and full of flavor. Family had pizza, also pretty tasty.

For context, I managed restaurants for several years so I have a good understanding of kitchen and front of house flow and am very forgiving. With that said, the flow of our dinner service was incredibly poor. We arrived at 9:00pm with a teenager and a toddler when the restaurant was down to about 10% capacity. We were seated quickly but it went downhill from there. We were initially rushed for an order, then when we were actually ready, it took 8-10 minutes to see our server again. The bill time was over half an hour for 2 lasagnas and a pappardelle which had scalding hot plates when they finally arrived. Anyone who has worked in a restaurant knows what it means when your food takes twice as long as it should and arrives on smoking hot plates. When we finished and were ready to settle up we had to wait 10 minutes to ask for the bill. The time stamp of the picture is 10:10pm after waiting over 5 minutes for someone to whom we could ask for the bill. We entered the restaurant at 9:02pm and there was a single table still seated when we left. Unfortunately, this has been among the poorest dining experiences we've had as a family, which is exacerbated by the fact that it happened in a practically empty restaurant. The quality of the food would have earned a 5 ⭐ review but the service and dry overcooked pasta from sitting on a hot plate for over 10 minutes killed it.

Really delicious food! Great location and friendly staff. Would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you!

We dined here three times throughout our stay. Justine was our favourite server, she was absolutely delightful! Our food came fairly quickly each meal, and was consistent, fresh, and delicious.

Enjoyed our experience here. Kids under free eat for free and the food portions for them were huge! We adults split a salad, pizza and a risotto dish. The salad was nice, risotto had no meat (which is fine) but it lacked that extra flavour. Pizza was solid. We will go back!

We had dinner here twice. The pizzas were very average, but the pastas we had (papardelle and the rigatoni) were really lovely!! The views from the windows are also nice. We LOVED our waiter Oskar - he had great suggestions and was so friendly.

Went here for an anniversary dinner. Service was lacking food was nothing special. The wine menu had entry-level wines at 5x the price. Food took longer than it should and the plates were scolding hot which is not a good sign for the quality of food/backhouse capabilities. Given the level of class, the rest of the property tries to present I expected more from this place. I suggest going to the black tail bar on the same property or just take some time to head into Canmore.

Had the buffet breakfast, it seems pricy but compared to the price of the menu items the buffet seemed like the best deal. They have all the breakfast staples like eggs bacon sausage hash browns plus some extras like a meat and cheese platter smoothie shots and Nutella waffles. Some of the people we went with did order off the menu it did take long for some items but the presentation was amazing. One of the kids we were with has an egg allergy and the chef made her eggless pancakes. The chef came out mid way to ask how the pancakes were.

We had such an amazing experience at Forte. Each time we are here during our stay we were able to find food that met our families unique dietary requirements (vegan, GF). We called the hotel in advance to make sure we would be able to find options for a vegetarian, celiac child and we’re contacted by the sous chef at Fortis. He gave us his phone number to contact him during our stay just in case we had a hard time with finding something for her to eat. They went off the menu to create kid friendly food for her and everything tasted amazing. The only we should have done is make resos in advance on the weekends.

We were able to get a last minute reservation dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. Brad, the manager greeted us and sat us down. As a manager, you don't often get to interact with your guest, but Brad kept checking in on us and making sure everything ran smoothly. Oscar, our server did an immaculate job from the moment we sat down, to the moment we left. Not only was he great at his job, he made the experience more personal and enjoyable. He was able to make great recommendations, suggestions and was attentive throughout the night. Oscar also went above and beyond by creating a wonderful cocktail for us to enjoy, as well as writing "Happy Anniversary" on the back of the bill, to make our experience truly memorable. Credits to the kitchen team and the chef. Not only was the food phenomenon, plating was stunning and seasoning was on point. I highly recommend Forte compared to Cedar Room, as the service and food was hands down incomparable despite the Cedar Room being the higher end restaurant. Thank you Brad and Oscar, both of your charming, friendliness and kindness brought us smiles throughout the night and made it extremely unforgettable.

Worst dining experience I have had in a long time! Waited a very long time to get served and then no cutlery brought to the table, we were sitting there with food with no way to eat it! Food was not at all what I would expect at a place like this and kind of expensive for what you get. Had to ask 3 times for the bill. We won’t be back!

We ate at the restaurant twice during a family winter long weekend. The food was excellent, and we particularly enjoyed the wood fired pizzas and the risotto. They really tasted like what you get in Italy. The restaurant had well spaced tables and barriers, with strong COVID protocols. Service was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed both our dinners, and the kids felt like they had a fancy treat.

Chrystal Bailey

Pretty decent pizza! I really liked the mushrooms they were quite interesting. The drinks were spot on as well! Would definitely eat here again if I ended up in kanaskis village

For such a beautiful hotel, this restaurant seems out of place. We were recommended to not go with the buffet so we chose the a la carte menu and ordered the octopus, braised beef pasta and the funghi pizza along with the panna cotta for dessert. The octopus smelled like dog food, and the taste is what I imagine dog food would taste like. The octopus was overcooked (despite it being sous vide) and it was inedible, we had to return it. The pasta being their signature dish was good but unrefined for a 'signature dish' the meat was dry despite being braised and it was really rich without a real balance to the dish. All in all it was the best thing we tried on the menu but our expectations were high and it fell short. The funghi pizza was saved by the crust. The crust was brilliant and I would have loved a well-executed pizza to go with such a fine ingredient. Unfortunately, the pizza was over-sauced, lacking balance, it was really monotoned and soggy because of the amount of sauce that was on the pizza. It had potential but it was just another dish that fell short. The panna cotta was not a panna cottta. It was flat - no jiggle, it was almost a paste and felt more like a fudge than a panna cotta. The flavor was there but the toppings we lost and it just didn't make a lot of sense. This was probably one of the most disappointing meals I've had considering the price point and the setting. This was technically my wifes and my anniversary dinner and I felt fleeced into spending top dollar for a menu that you would normally find in a hospital (if that). Otherwise - service was fantastic - our server was very accommodating and super kind and the staff at the restaurant were all very friendly. I would not recommend this place at all to anybody unless you're going for just drinks.

Customer Service was Amazing and Food 5 Star Well done Forte staff. You’re attention to detail was impeccable and all staff were warm, friendly and accommodating especially our server Oskar. Shout out to asadulla and Brad as well for checking in on us. Absolute professionals. Food and drink were incredible. Had the pork belly which was phenomenal. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful staff. Food is average, taste does not match the great branding. Otherwise we had fun.

The restaurant is very nice. I took my girlfriend here, and our waiter (I believe his name is Curtis. Didn't quite catch the name tag 100%) was extremely nice, extremely polite, he made sure we had everything we needed, and checked up on us frequently. Excellent service, and thee best service I have had in a long while! Their spaghetti and meatballs were excellent, and their tiramisu cake was superb aswell! I 110% recommend this place if you stay at the lodge! ????

TheLegionsOfScipii

Here for a birthday get away and very disappointed in the meal! The service was ok. Ambiance is lacking - giving a pass on this because of covid Do not order the linguine with clams! (The waiter recommended it) the "clams" were mostly empty clam shells. Food comes very fast....just like McDonald's so no time to enjoy a glass of wine. Only in a captive market would they get away with the prices of a four star in a one star operation. Really sad. Definitely will not be back! Pack your own food!

After driving all day to the Mountain Lodge, we were excited to have our first taste of the lodge's cuisine and I left feeling really underwhelmed. My overall impression of the restaurant was that it was quiet, elegant and warm. I arrived before my group and asked if there was a reservation already made for us under our company name but the manager seemed a little stressed out. She informed me that we should've made a reservation. One of my team members arrived after me and made a reservation for 45min later and we waited out in the lobby. We were a party of 8 but, once seated, we had a two hour wait before our food finally arrived. I ordered the same thing as my boss (the quattro formaggi pizza, which I'd heard rave reviews about on my walk over). My pizza and side of brussel sprouts arrived with the rest of our group's food, but it was cold. The other pizza never arrived and the server never checked in to see whether we were finding our food okay - we had to flag her down when we realized the missing pizza wasn't immediately following the rest of the food after about 5 minutes. When we politely inquired about the status of his pizza, we were met with, "It's on it's way" and kept getting brushed off. Over 2.5 hours after placing our orders, the manager came over and explained that half of the oven was broken and that the kitchen had failed to alert her about it until it was too late. We were offered comped breakfasts or discounts on our meals for our long waits, which was appreciated. All in all, I felt disappointed by this experience and I avoided this restaurant for the rest of my stay at the lodge.

The food here is amazing. The service was wonderful as well. Curtis was our server and he was on top of everything. Made sure our glasses were topped up either with alcohol or with water. I forgot to take pics of the food but the braised short rib papadrelle pasta was so good. We also ordered glazed pork belly and scallop and that was amazing as well. Even the kids menu the food was delicious. We also did breakfast buffet here and there's lots of choices at a fair price. The food was good but not as good as their dinner menu. Definitely recommend this place!

Went for breakfast and dinner with zero disappointments. Pizza was absolutely amazing and made within their in-house pizza ovens. My partner had the s'more old fashion and the salted caramel espresso martini, she loved both of them. Wine list is well spread out and they should have anything you are after

Our server, Stephen was very attentive, detail oriented and had great drink recommendations. The pizza here is to die for. Great job to their Chefs and cooks ????????

My husband and I had a positive experience at Forte. We had dried Brussels sprouts, lamb shank and Quattro Carni pizza. Our server was very nice and the food was amazing with a glass of sparkling rose wine and a mountain view. We also went out for marshmallow roasting after the dinner. Excellent experience.

Well, we never dined in and likely never will. We got take out from them ???? it was a joke to say the least. Completely comical. Service was great I'll give them that but when I opened my nice box I was treated with what could only be enough lasagna to feed my infant child. Taste 5/10 for lasagne almost took it back. Caesar salad 9/10 soup was good maybe a 7/10 about the same score for the taste tester of a seafood pasta. If you're hungry don't go here. Full disclosure I have never wanted to post a review for any restaurant in my life but you should be warned with the price tag that comes with this snack. ????

We had a delicious breakfast. Great atmosphere and comfortable seating. Our waitress Justinne was a ton of fun. She provided great service and even went so far to make my breakfast half french toast and half pancakes since I couldn't decide! The pineapple rum sauce for my French toast was super delicious. Each dish was approximately $22 but food portion sizes.

Food came out super quick. Our server was nice. Covid measures include spaced out tables and clear screens in between. Food was delicious. The vinaigrette from the brussel sprouts can punch you in the throat unexpectedly but it was delicious. The lamb meat just fell off the bone and the root vegetables were nice and sweet. Not too soft, but it had a good chewiness to it. The pizza was also great. Not the best I've ever had, but it was good.

Vince Jones

Excellent customer service. Pretty good food. I ate here twice. Enjoyed dinner, not breakfast. I ordered a poached egg BLT for breakfast, they served it with iceberg lettuce that had no colour and was about an inch thick…odd. Coffee was good though.

This place is very busy and loud. We had interactions with 6 staff from the start of our meal to the end which was very odd. Usually you’d have only one staff member taking care of each table or section. It seemed more like an assembly line because of this. We had the caprese salad which I’d recommend. We also had the pork belly and scallops which was delicious but I’d recommend swapping out the barley for potatoes (we only discovered you could do this after). The rigatoni was a good size but nothing special. It had a random assortment of things on it (peas, zucchini, pine nuts). The drinks are pretty neat but come with a hefty price tag. You do have to make a reservation for this restaurant but I probably wouldn’t come back another time.

Great location. Holly was very welcoming. We had a great meal and fantastic atmosphere.

We had 2 meals here Breakfast and dinner both meals were very good Service was excellent! Our dinner server Shane was attentive and quick! Thank you for the great experience

Steak can be such a hit or miss, however, our meal was amazing. For $45, you can’t go wrong. Will be back! Thank you for making our first dinner out after Covid so memorable.

My wife and I stayed at the lodge for the weekend and enjoyed dinner at Forte. We were very happy with the food, delicious hand made pizza and the pasta was also hand made and delicious. Most of all we were very impressed with our server Camille. She was friendly, super funny and made our visit extra enjoyable.

Susan Molstad

Forte restaurant was absolutely incredible to my family this evening. My twin boys are on a ketogenic diet to control their epilepsy, and they were more than accommodating and extremely friendly. Not only were the servers & chefs so amazingly kind, the food was soo delicious as well! Would highly recommend this place !!

Karen M. (Dr. MILLER)

The pizza ???? is the best I have had!! Even better than Italy!! Also ceaser salad delicious ???? The service was wonderful...

Wonderful and friendly service by Oskar and delicous food.

We went in for dinner service at 6pm with 4 kids (5, 3, 2 and an infant). As soon as we entered we felt unwelcome. Before we had even ordered our food, the manager came over and asked us to quieten down our kids and then proceeded to tell us that it was family restaurant..really? If you have kids avoid this place! Terrible business practice to alienate guests that have no choice but to dine at one of your two restaurants. Here’s a thought since a lot of the people who stay at the lodge have kids, maybe you should make your restaurant more kid friendly or practice what you preach when you say it’s a family restaurant. Terrible!

Kay Kay

Awful services.. The manager/greeter looked too overwhelmed and overall, all services were absolutely unorganized. There was a guy behind me who said that he had a reservation at 6:30pm and we also had a reservation at 6:30pm. The manager told me to wait for two mins but took the guy behind me in right away. I addressed the situation and he said "they had a reservation at 6 pm. I know it because I have a book right in front of me". I expected him to apologize for what may have been a misunderstanding but no, he was very rude and he totally ruined my birthday dinner!! Foods were just alright - spaghetti was too salty and mashed potato was sour...

Darren Fong

Nice restaurant with big open windows. The hostess and server were very nice and provided amazing service. The short rib pasta dish was very rich. The truffle oil, parmesan cheese and the pulled short ribs was a very rich combination. The pasta helped cut it but having a salad to cut the richness is a must. The apple pecan salad was very good. It was light, crisp and fresh. The spiced pecans, apple slices and goat cheese were a nice touch. We really enjoyed the salad. Also it was not over dressed at all. The scallops were really good. The presentation of the dish was nice but the serving was very small. The served it on a huge dish and barely covered 1/3. I had the pan seared salmon and it was perfectly cooked just the way I like it. It was an excellent dish and I enjoyed it. Dessert was a nice finish to our meal. We would come back here again for sure.

Robin Biagioni

The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and it’s very clean. The tables are spaced far apart and you can tell they sanitize all tables and chairs.

Ariel Pevzner

The service was awesome. The restaurant is nice. I ordered the game hen. It was delicious, but tiny! Its half a hen, And zucchini with cheese. For the $33 dollars. I'm not satisfied. The girlfriend got the seafood linguini. It was a tiny in portion size, and extremely bland. Neither one of us are huge eaters. We are not big people. We are both hungry after our meals. As the portions were tiny. For a $85 dollar bill to still be hungry after is terrible! Charging high end prices, for sub par food. Skimping on the portions with the high prices.

Chris Sullivan

PG, Jiecelle (management) and Angela..aka Joy (server) were absolutely amazing. The food - pesto penne, risotto- highly recommended...Winterini, Salted Caramel Espresso Martini were...???? Definitely worth going too!! I don't usually give 5 star ratings, but...I couldn't find fault here... THANK-YOU!!! We will be back!! Shannon

Had a sit down dinner with my girlfriend and ordered a few drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees. When the server brought the second round of beverages, the server accidentally spilt both drinks all over my lap as the tray slipped away from him. I understand that accidents do happen, but I don’t believe the situation was sufficiently rectified. Our meal was interrupted as I had to return to the suite to change my pants. The meal would have been delicious, but seeing that it was cold by the time I had returned, the dishes ended up being more underwhelming than they should have been. A manager didn’t even come by to offer their own personal apology. I’ve experienced better damage control at other restaurants for undercooked eggs!

Collin Ablitt

A quick pit stop during our drive around the mountains, very cozy and pleasant ambience. Super delicious Italian fare. As I could be entertained watching the chef rolling the Pizza's my wife had a great view of the mountains. Our server was friendly and attentive. Out of the dishes we picked, Lasagne was the hit. Loved the Grilled foccasia on the side. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for making our afternoon special ????????

We stopped in after a hike in Kananaskis and have a lovely light lunch. The soup was delicious although not the traditional minestrone. The pizza was fantastic and the service was warm, friendly and kind. My mom say the water was the best she’s had, along with the tea.

Kody Baum

Don’t get the Linguini ai Gamberi, tasteless, tastes like water and noodles, the bread crumbs makes it mushy. ???? But our server was great The pizza looked good

We ate here for dinner and had breakfast take-out. Both meals were really well made and delicious overall. Everything is a bit pricey, but that should be expected on a resort. I have no complaints about the food or service.
