Won’t be using this company again, we booked a car to pick-up at Atlanta airport and the car company Advantage Cars would not rent to us as we only had a U.K. driving licence and they would only accept International Driving Licence, we have been renting cars abroad for over 40 years and have never come across a problem or even heard of an international driving licence. Was left without a car and had to source one last minute at the airport, a very stressful experience after a very long day flying. Contacted Wisecars who refused to give us a refund because it’s apparently in their terms and conditions, whoever really has the time to read all the small print. Ok Wisecars keep my money but you’ve lost a a longterm frequent rental customer and I will also be sure to tell all my friends and family to avoid this company at all costs!

Wisecars sent our voucher promptly and we were all set to go, but a tropical storm (Henri) was coming up the east coast and we needed to cancel our trip. Wisecars extended our cancellation window and we were able to get a full refund. 5 stars for the customer service and flexibility!

I recently booked with Wisecars because they have the best price for what I was looking for. I don’t buy their $14 cancellation insurance because I didn’t think I would need it. Well, I was wrong. With the surge of the Delta variance, I’m getting nervous not just for myself but for my family and may need to consider cancelling my trip-that would cost me 15% cancellation fee of $135!! I called in and spoke to Rene who was very helpful and offered to avoid this cost. Would book with them again for sure!

EDIT: They even replied here and said they couldn't find us. I have a receipt that says otherwise I'm happy to show to anyone with questions. The worst rental car experience I have ever had. Wisecars does not provide the rentals, but is just a broker. We booked a car for 2 weeks in Iceland in March. The rental client they set us up with was AWFUL. They didn't provide airport pickup, which they said they did. We waited at the airport until midnight trying to get our car and were still charged for that day, even though we had no car! The car itself was filthy, the seats were stained, and very high mileage. The counter staff was the rudest I have ever encountered. I was not provided a refund for the services not rendered and would never recommend this company to anyone. Wisecars needs to work with better vendors and stand by their service.

They take your money, send a reservation confirmation, which is lacking any details and there is no way to figure out the details until they send you "voucher" 48 hours before car pick-up, when it's too late. They deal with shoddy rental companies and when you have any troubles when picking up the car, they will leave you out to dry. Dealt with other brokers before with much better experience, won't use this one again...

The reservation transaction was easy and straight forward. But Wisecar is a middleman and only as good as the car companies it chooses for you (since you don’t get a say in the matter). The rental agency took quite some time to pick us up at KEF airport. Since we arrived at the rental car in the late we also had trouble finding the place when we needed to drop the car off. The rental place was not marked with the name we knew it by at all.

Never again. Warning- don’t book through 3rd parties. You cannot resolve issues if you don’t deal directly with the car rental company. The price is appealing but be wary. I was unable to complete my rental at arrival, I didn’t have the correct credit card with me to complete the rental deposit (had already paid the rental fee). We switched renters. So even though it was booked as refundable, I was within 2 hours so they would not refund the payment. So I paid, and my boyfriend paid, for one car rental. Nu Car Rental assured me, although they were unable to process the refund as I had gone through a third party, that Wisecars should provide a refund. That did not happen.

We rented a car in Las Vegas in Sept 2021. Waiting time was over an hour. But my main complaint is that I have a travel reward credit card that has a collision damage coverage. The agent at the window told me that this card doesn’t work in Nevada because of the amount of car accidents in the area. So I paid more then twice more than I was going to. I should call the bank and double check with them but I was too tired after the flight and I felt bad about people in the line. I would call it a fraud.

I went through a search engine to rent a vehicle. The Search linked me to Wisecars. I am very happy with Wisecars, not only was my rental cheaper, but they are based out of San Francisco. The process was extremely easy and only took a few minutes. A few days prior, I attempted to rent a vehicle from another company that happened to be overseas. Needless to say it was a disaster. Watch out for the Wisecars rip off!! I booked through Kayak and then a supplier called Routes. I missed that you had to be traveling from an airport and I booked locally. So despite arriving at my designated time, I was treated as a no show since I had no flight intinerary. I booked for 4 days and they kept all the money. I'd get it if I forfeited one day's rate, but they ripped me off to the tune of $280, and I'm sore rented to someone else, so they doubled their money. It's horrible companies like this take advantage of the small print! I thought adding flight info was optional (like every other car rental company) -- why let me book and charge my card if I skip the flight info if that info is required?!? It's a set up, and should be called Wiseguys... it's criminal what they do!!

Good rental price and positive feeling so far, good communication with the support team. Only downside is you don't receive the voucher/final confirmation on rental from Wisecars until 48hrs before the pick up time. This is unusual with car rental brokers and a bit discomforting, but at the end all went well at the rental counter. Thx.

12/30/21 Update: I received the rental vehicle from Thrifty. My reservation was already in their system as prepaid and I only had to put down a credit card for a temporary hold on my account. Of course the normal upcharge pitch occurred (protection, tolls, gas) but i declined it all. I returned my vehicle on time and didn't receive any additional charges. The process was seamless and effective. I will definitely check out wisecars again in the future as I look for affordable rental vehicles. I have yet to receive the rental, so I will come back and update this review with my experience. However, the process of using a rental car broker during a pandemic where rental car prices are skyrocketing was very smooth. From my initial rental price to what I received with Wisecars, I saved $100! I hope that my experience at the counter for pick up and return will be just as smooth as it was reserving the rental.

Fraud website, which will take your money and it will not give you a car aswell. Booked a car from wise car and at the airport they refused to provide the car and asked me to provide international driving license where as the other cars vendor near them were offering the cars to us. Book at your own risk other wise when u ask for refund to will provide their big terms and condition and they will put some fake review over the top of my review so that it will hide as early as possible

This has been the most horrific car rental experience. I waited at SurPrice for more than an hour and a half, they have charged me $200 in surprise fees. This company is a scam. They have horrible customer service and you cannot trust what you are signing up for. I was not informed of additional charges when I called and waited on hold for 45 minutes to change my reservation. The service was slow, not helpful and the unexpected costs just kept piling up. The $200 rental was too good to be true. On top of that, I did not receive the vehicle I paid for. Instead, an older vehicle with lots of dents and damage that was not properly cleaned- finger prints all over the driver and passenger windows. Surely that is not up to covid protocols. If I were wisecars, I would drop SurPrice from their services if you’d like to retain customers or offer a quality experience. This is horrible.

Booking process was good and the price they found was excellent. My only hesitation is that you don’t get a confirmation number with your rental agency until right before you pick it up. This means I don’t know if my rental is confirmed until right before I pick it up. Which also means there is a possibility that the rental company will not have a car set aside for me on that day. I recommmend that Wisecars figure out a solution, or revised agreement with their suppliers, to provide a better peace of mind for travelers like me.

UPDATE: A representative from the company reached out to me via email, and they explained that they investigated the situation further, and are working on making sure nothing like that happens again to me or any other customer. The woman who reached out to me was very polite and concise, and she issued a refund and offered an apology. The situation itself was a nightmare, but their representative handled it very well, which I appreciate a lot. I’ll leave my initial review down below just so it can help somebody else to potentially avoid the same issue that I had. I booked a same day car rental with Wisecars, and they didn’t give me a link to their terms and conditions until they took the money from my account. I was denied a car at the rental place because I don’t own a credit card (which Wisecars only mentioned might happen after taking my money). They then refused to refund me because I didn’t contact them 48 hours before my booking. I explained that I booked earlier that day and couldn’t have cancelled 48 hours before my booking, and he said I was at fault and I was naive and unwilling to accept that I was in the wrong. I’m all for owning up to my mistakes, but there was no way for me to know that I would be denied a car by the rental company until I got there for my pick up. The man I spoke to on the phone wasn’t from the US and was so rude and unwilling to help me.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Booked a car through this company and paid in full, only extra to pay listed on the email on arrival was the young driver fee ($170), got to the pick up desk after a 9 hour flight to be told that we needed to pay $900 for insurance as the booking was only for the car and not the insurance! There is no mention of this anywhere on the website which is extremely misleading, we never would have booked it if insurance wasn’t included in the stated price. So we spoke to Julien at wisecars who said he WOULD give us a refund whilst we were at the pickup desk as he said he “got the green light from Zezgo and that it would take up to 7 days to 10 days as that’s how their payroll works” and have now I received an email saying they WON’T refund us as it is now classed as a “no show” even though we were stood waiting about 2 hours trying to sort this mess out! Julien lied to us on the phone! As far as I am concerned this is a hidden fee/surcharge and I will be in contact with trading standards and seeking legal advice as I’ve paid £600 for a service I haven’t received! Terrible experience. Anyone reading this definitely avoid this company!

My phone call was immediately answered. I didn’t have to wait on hold. The sales rep was able to answer all my questions. Most important that i could cancel my reservation if i gave notice 48 hours or more from my date of arrival to pick up car. Their rates where over $400 less than their closest competitor.

I used Wisecars in July 2021 and it was a pretty good experience. I found a minivan for a very reasonable rate. I used them again in December 2021, and I would recommend the following changes: faster response time via online avenues. Often the messenger experience takes a while. Also, I had a credit to use towards a booking but I was unable to use it myself and had to call their service center to book and use my credit. Their customer service is good - friendly and efficient, but a better online platform would help - for me at least!

Booking the car was simple and when we had a flight change, changing our car was easy with a quick response from customer service via email and phone. I am so upset with the customer service and the Miami location. My boyfriend and I visited Miami for the first time. We decided to tryout this rental car company and the whole experience was sketchy. You select a car and pay before you get there, so we did. We made a reservation to pick it up at 1. After issues with our flight, we were unable to call in time to move the reservation since we had no cell service in the air. When we landed, we called immediately and they didn’t answer. We get there at 2:15 and they say they have no cars left and can not give a refund because we didn’t call…. WE DID CALL , THEY DIDNT ANSWER… the guy at the front desk barely spoke English and was very rude. We called a corporate number for help and they refused to refund us as well. I will never use this company again. We have already reported the company as a fraudulent business. Take your business to National!!!!! They are actually have cars! (A rental car company actually having cars.. take notes wise cars)

Terrible Experience. They took my money and then send the fine print later. To their defense, they can say they sent the fine print, but I did not read it as who ever really does? The car was rented in my wife's name, the voucher was in her name, the receipts were in her name, and all was supposed to be good. Two days before your trip they send you the rental car information and who it is with. Thrifty refused the contract with Wisecars at the airport counter as my wife did not have the credit card I used to rent it with. However, Thrifty simply rented the same car, at a much higher price, and they went on their business. Wisecars REFUSES to refund my money even though Thrifty has stated Wisecars was never charged for the rental as WE paid for it in person at the counter because of the booking error. No harm, other than the additional $249 we had to pay. Wisecars was never charged by Thrifty, BUT STEALS your money and hides behind fine print and keeps making excuses. I am currently having to dispute with my credit card company. NEVER AGAIN Wisecars. Do the right thing.

The process of renting a car was fairly easy. There were only one or two small problems that Wisecars can easily fix. There are check off boxes in which you agree with their terms of service. The are at the bottom of the screen while you are supplying credit card, etc information and easily seen. Wise cars can either move it to the middle or top of the box, or put it some where in the middle like when you switch from giving credit card information to your address or flight information. What I especially liked about dealing with Wisecar is when it's almost over and done you can send them a note telling them what is not coved in the regular enrollment process. For example in my case my travel agent did not give me the time I will land. I can tell Wisecars this so they will understand when I show up 5 hours early or late, but they do make their phone # availble so I will call as soon as I find out.

We were planning an out of state memorial service for my mother in law . I went online to rent a car and when I realized we wouldn't arrive till the following day, I hit the back button to change the date which apparently changed the month also. Wisecars makes you wait for the confirmation so I did not see the error. My disabled Veteran husband contacted them and they refused to give us a refund or to change o ur reservation to August for the service. The Customer Service agent actually laughed about it a n d said he wasn't getting a car or a refund. They are thieves and have extremely poor customer service.

We rented a car from Wisecars in July with no issues. Front desk lady at Budget wasn't my favorite but not wisecars fault. Just rented another car for Hawaii trip and best prices by far. Easy interface and purchased within minutes, confirmation emails received, works like a charm.

I booked an SUV with this website with the assumption that I would be getting a four wheel drive or all wheel drive SUV (I had assumed that if you pay more for an SUV, as opposed to a compact SUV in Colorado, in December, that the car would have four wheel drive). However when I got to the ticket counter they told me that I had booked a front-wheel drive car and would have to upgrade (which is necessary if you are going into the mountains in winter). I had to pay $210 for an upgrade for a four-wheel drive car. I was told by Wisecars that there was nothing they could do as there is no information that the car I had booked, or any of their other cars they advertise, are four wheel drive. It is pretty ridiculous to book an SUV in Colorado in winter that has two wheel drive, especially when a vast majority of SUV cars are either four wheel drive or AWD, as opposed to front wheel drive. Wisecars seems to advertise cheaper cars, however I found them quite misleading to advertise for a cheaper price than their competitors and not specify that it is in fact two wheel drive, and then to only find out at the car rental agency that you have to pay more. If you only want a two wheel drive, or don't mind what car you actually get, then they would be useful. I will avoid using them in the future.

The broker they found was very dodgy - They give you a cheap rental price but then won't hold a deposit on Amex or any debit cards so you are left having to pay their extra insurance which was the same price as the car rental. So it ended up doubley expensive, you have to wait for ages to go off-airport minibus, queued for about 45 mins to get car....just pay a bit extra upfront and go direct to one of the reputable companies in the airport

The savings for a rental car in Kona, Hawaii were astronomical - I'm very pleased with savings, their app and ease of booking. Everything explained clearly including the credit card deposit which will be expected at time of pickup and any other fees due. Wisecars seemed like a good option when I needed to find a rental car at the Phoenix Airport. But when I received the booking voucher it was for 11pm, after the Thrifty desk would be closed. I immediately tried to cancel but was told I would still owe the full amount. They give you a “48 hour window” to cancel your reservation before the booking but don’t send you the email until 50 hours before your booking starts….I tried to cancel with Thrifty and was told I couldn’t because Wisecars uses a third party to book and I should go through them instead. All the while customer service at Wisecars is telling me I owe the full amount…for them booking a car after the place is closed? This is all two days before the rental period. Really embarrassing that they are not able to provide a basic customer service function when they mess up, would be a very simple fix. Don’t book with them, and if you do make sure the time is correct, because apparently they don’t verify with anyone.

I was skeptical to use this company as I usually book direct. However, there was a huge difference in price to rent a suburban for the weekend so I went with it. The experience was seamless. We paid in advance and had email updates leading up to our travel weekend. Two days before, we received the voucher telling us our vehicle would be at Thrifty. I've been using wisecar a couple of times and I had nothing to complain until now when I needed to cancel my trip which should've started in 10 days from now. I've been surprised to receive a notification saying that I will be reimbursed -15% from the whole contract because I canceled it. This is mentioned in ToC if you read it carefully but there are sentences on the rent page misleading you into believing that the cancelation is free. Needless to say that this will be my last interaction with them.

Wisecars (Liigu) appeared as one of the cheaper options, when I tried searching for car rental at Nice. At times when 2 days rental costed minimum 130euro, Liigu option was advertised for only 70Euro (inclusive all covered insurance). The only 2 aspects that i hope for improvements are:- 1. Reliability of bluetooth activated door locking and unlocking. 2. parking ticket payment especially if customer picks up the car later than they expected.

Edit: WiseCars rented us a vehicle (a camper) that was not available when we arrived in Europe. The actual rental company told us that they canceled the reservation days earlier with WiseCars but WiseCars never told us about the cancellation. Because if the time difference WiseCars was not open or available for support during the pickup time so we simply rented a new car from the company on the spot and decided to cancel the reservation with WiseCars, but they’re now telling us that they are marking it as a “no show” because it was too last minute. We can’t be a no show for a reservation that the rental car company canceled in the first place!

I was linked to Wisecars from a Kayak search. Their prices are better than almost all of the direct booking sites I checked from rental car companies, and also better than most of the mainline travel company consolidator sites. The catch is you don't get a voucher revealing your rental company until 48 hours before travel, and with the rental car shortages that gives me a little agita but they state the rental is guaranteed so I'll go with that for now... It would be ideal if the voucher could be issued immediately or sooner than 48 hours (eg. 1-2 weeks) to relieve stress of travel...

Only one slight niggle: when booking online, the confirmation screen said that we would receive the voucher within 72 hours. But the confirmation email states that we will only get the voucher 48 hours before pickup. Hopefully no problem, but consistency would have been better.

In this difficult time to rent a car, with the high cost, flights being canceled without warning and no refund policy at some rental agencies, Wisecars was a good find for us. NOVEMBER 16 UPDATE: true that the booking process was easy and the cost was reasonable for these times… BUT BUYER BEWARE. I called Wisecars and got the “We’re sorry, that’s your problem with the rental company” response. Neither they nor Budget could even tell me if there were enough cars. Completely unreasonable. A couple of days later we received a message that the car that we paid for was not available and the offered an alternative, which was much more expensive and a lower car category. Basically what they do is that they put cars on their website that are actually not available. I find it unbelievable that they are selling something that they dont actually have. And the alternative offered is much more expensive and lower category. Effectively you dont take any responsibility for the service they provide. Very disappointing.

Buyer BEWARE! Don't make the mistake I did, read Wisecars terms and conditions before using them to rent a car. Wisecars will NOT refund your money if the supplier cannot deliver on the service you paid upfront for and in our situation, Wisecars declined to adjust our reservation so we could use the service we paid upfront for. As a paying customer I expected better service from the customer service department, but I learned my lesson and will cut out the middleman the next time I need to rent a car.

Your refusal to provide any type of refund due to extreme circumstances makes no customer-centered sense. I made a reservation for January 3 but unfortunately I contracted Covid 19 so if had to cancel my reservation. I could not believe that I did not get a full credit. I only received half credit for my cancelled reservation. I even sent them a copy of my Covid test result. I hope this company can be more considerate with situations like this. I was able to get a full refund from my airline and also for my condo booking. Why can’t they do the same? I understand that they don’t do a refund it booking is cancelled within 48 hours but at least be considerate by giving a full credit for future reservations because of customers getting sick from Covid 19. No mercy! Rachel - I tested positive on January 2 that’s why I could not cancel before the 48 hour window. Reservation was made for January 3.There’s a surge happening across the US. Please tell those car rental companies to be considerate or maybe you just want to earn your money. Have a heart !!!

The company just handsover the customer experience to the suppliers they work with and the customer is at their mercy. Now, I have been running pillar to post to get an update from their support team on my refund status over two weeks now. We had a great service from RecordGo. I was nervous at first as we had received a car with a rather sizeable dent that although had been marked on the sheet, wasn't sure to what extent. The service from the team behind the counter and the guy checking at the end was really nice and swift. They relieved any fears about the dent when I handed it back very quickly. Also, I had forgotten my credit card and was able to avoid full insurance by using a debit card deposit. Some companies don't do this but they were helpful. Price was really good. Used Wisecars for my rental in Atlanta. Southwest cancelled my flight so I called Wisecars to say I could pick the car up the next day when I could get a flight. Wisecars tells me they will contact Dollar and get back to me. After a while the rep for Wisecars says everything is fine and the car will be there. When I got to the counter Dollar had cancelled my entire reservation so I have no car. I don’t have time to step out of line and try getting hold of Wisecars because there are only a few cars left and going quick. I had to take what they have but have to pay$250 more than my original. When I return home I tell Wisecars this. They tell me that since I didn’t show up the first day then Dollar has the right to cancel. That’s hilarious because there is no way I can show up because my flight is cancelled and I told Wisecars all this and they told me no problem when it happened. Now they want to blame me because the car got cancelled. Well you are the one that told me everything is ok. Just another example of not wanting to take responsibility and trying to make the customer sound wrong. Won’t go through them ever again.

When I searched AutoRentals.com for a car in Hawaii, it showed a number of rental car company prices. Wisecars price for a midsize car was quite a bit less. When I saw that Wisecars had free cancellation up to 48 hours before the rental period and many great reviews, I was sold. The reservation process couldn't be easier and knowing the car will come from a national car company I am resting assured. Having not heard of Wisecars before this, I will always now check with them first.

They are not the ones who rent the car to you but only the brokers who look for a car rental for you in the requested country. Until here there is nothing wrong but they should be reliable of who they work with and they should make sure they work with legitimate people. We rented a car online in Cancun - Mexico for a good price with NU Cars / Infinity Cars (the double name is shady enough already but wasn't aware at the time of the booking). Once we got there they asked us to pay a minimum of $300 on top of the car rental for insurance if we are not able to provide a document from my credit card company stating that they can cover over $9600 if something happens. Signed by the company and printed off; obviously a complete rip off just to make more money on top of the rental; they even told us that if we cancel our booking with Wisecars that they'd give us a better price. After a long conversation and getting no where we left, losing our deposit, went next door to another car rental, booked a car for a third of the price with insurance covering 90% of the car and no unheard documents needed. When complained to Wisecars customer service they blamed on us as we didn't read the 35 pages of terms & conditions, we felt scammed big time! A complete rip off!!

Many online car rental aggregators are shady but this company is absolutely worst of worst. Made a rental, agency I went to refused to recognize my license (said expired but had been legally extended due to Covid DMV closures and I had documentation of this). Had to book a new rental and Wisecar refused a refund even though their vendor was clearly in the wrong here. Absolute crooks. By contrast had something similar happen with Auto Europe last week and they gave me a full refund. Avoid avoid avoid.

They are clueless about the policies of the rental companies they show on their website before you make a booking and when you face an issue at the actual time of the booking, their customer service starts highlighting all the loopholes in terms and conditions. Wouldn’t recommend using them. Best to directly book with the car rental agency. I almost lost my entire trip because of a booking made with them and had to eventually pay 3X with another car rental because I was left stranded.
