This hertz location saved our vacation. We had originally booked with Budget and even though we had prepaid the reservation, they refused to let us get the car. We then went to enterprise and the same result occurred. Although we do not live in Waterloo we made the trip to this location because the gentleman on the phone was able to help us. He helped us with a same day reservation and had competitive pricing. We are very thankful for the great customer service at this Hertz! Thank you!

The best place in Waterloo to rent a car. Excellent service. Thomas, Shelley and Lisa (who has been at Hertz for more than 25 years!) always exceed expectations. The cars are well maintained and brand new. Wish they were open on Sundays too.

I had a good experience renting from here the first time. The car was cleaned properly and they were kind enough to let me take it 30min before the store opened formally. The only minor gripe is that the car had winter tires in June making it a bit noisy. Overall a good experience for UWaterloo students due to special rates and no young driver fees for the next few months. I will be renting from them soon and hope this time the service is similarly great and they have some summer rubber too. Update: The car was good this time too, winter tires again but they told me beforehand. An employee tried hard to sell me the insurance despite me having one on my credit card, but guess they gotta do it to survive the bankruptcy. Got a good deal with university of Waterloo rates

I've rented from this place a few times and I much prefer Hertz over Enterprise. Staff is alright, selection of vehicles is hit or miss from what I've experienced so far.

The people are always so friendly and funny, and I've had absolutely no trouble with renting a car. If you're from Laurier or UW, you can get a student discount which makes renting from Hertz THE MOST inexpensive rental in Waterloo.

I booked a car from this company and for some reasons I canceled it after 8 hours of booking. They charged me for 50 bucks. However in their website they say that if you cancel your reservation within 24 hours aftr booking there is not any fee. I called them several times and no body do nothing for me.

Excellent selection of vehicles. Student discount waives underage fee and provides group rate insurance. Will definitely return. Update: Returned for another rental! Got a nice free upgrade and continue to be impressed by selection of Toyota products with good Michelin tires on them.

This used to be a good branch but not anymore! Dirty and unsafe car, rude and careless employees. The car I rented was not safe. Sometimes, the breaks and steering wheel was not working and I had to stop it using hand break and restart it to make it work. Therefore, we decided not to use the car and use Uber instead, and pay an arm and a leg at the end of the day. They were forcing us to pay extra 20 dollars for winter tires against our will and against our reservation. Employee only agreed after minutes of discussing us in a very rude manner, despite I was as polite as one can be. The car was not washed and they did not offer even a single cent of discount to compensate this (look at the photos). A compact car was booked and a fuel hungry Nissan Qasqai was forced to us for pick up. No other option! As shown in the photos, the fuel gauge was showing that the car is not full, but since employees do not check the cars, they never notice. One other time, another car's handle was not working and they have not noticed the issue. Later on I complained about this to the company. And, it was absolutely no good result. The only thing they offered was a 50 USD coupon that can only be used in the US! And, they never sent this coupon even!

Came here for a weekend rental, they did not have my reserved model, but did an upgrade for the same price. Came 30 minutes early and they were still very helpful. The best place for rentals for 20 year olds, and they'll even wave the age differential charge for university students. Will be back for sure.

Awesome car, Price friendly for student and BEST PEOPLE EVER!!!! I asked several cooperations, only Hertz can reduce the age differential fees for student. People there are good when you enter the office. They will not push you purchase any additional services but they do give very useful advices. Besides, sometime, you need chance to find out how excellent the personality they have. "Luckly", I got the chance. I scratched the vehicle by accident. I was freak out. When I return the car, the lady( I feel it's a mistake that I forgot ask her name) just check the car and helped me fill a form just in case and then let me leave, because I brought the LDW (She suggested me buy it when I was going to rent the car). During the process, she was very patient and keep comfort me. I was so moved. I will choose Hertz forever as if others Hertz are as good as Hertz-Waterloo!! And it's very simple for extend the rent, just call the office. Remember, LDW is very important (for new driver)! At the last, I just want to express thank you to the Madam again. Choose Hertz - Waterloo, you will never regret!

First time renting a car -- it was a very straightforward process. The place gave a free upgrade on arrival because they didn't have our class of vehicles at the time. The cost of the car itself is reasonable, but the underage fee is way too high -- it nearly doubled the cost of the car. The car itself was a comfortable 2019 model with all the latest safety features.

Not the best hertz location.. would be a gross understatement Never book anything larger than a midsize, because it WILL be downgraded to a midsize (~80% of the time), and they don't always refund you the price difference.. Seems to depend on the person you speak to. The staff are generally nice to talk to but something is seriously wrong with their inventory/booking system. Also they just don't have a large selection of cars like many other hertz locations do.
