Smart Dolphins (Finley)

Tow driver dropped a car off in front of my neighbor's house and was incredibly reckless. He damaged the front of the car by shaking it off of the flat bed and scraping the bumper. The driver proceeded to take off and speed through a residential neighborhood so fast that equipment went flying off the back of the truck. I called to inform management but they didn't seem to care. I have video evidence of the entire affair.

I was at the Gas Station when my car wouldn't start. I then called BCAA, who then got me in touch with Totem Towing. It took their driver, Vincent #62, under 10 minutes to arrive at my location. It was dark, and I was alone, which for me was nerve-wracking. He was knowledgeable, which made me feel at ease. He then took my car to the shop for repair, talked to the repairmen and handled everything for me. Vincent is a highly professional and talented individual. Totem towing took great care of me, and I would recommend them to anyone.

I had a very stressful situation where my car was broken into, I had never had something like this happen to me, and it took a week or so before I was able to get a response from ICBC regarding my claim. Come a week later, it turns out they refused to cover anything. Upon me arriving to pick up my vehicle, I was told that Totem waived all of my storage fees. I cannot express how much this meant to me, as paying the full amount would have been all of my Christmas funds. Thank you guys so much for waiving them for me given this complex situation. I warned them about a low car, explained it would most likely need a flat bed. Shows up in a regular truck and says I'll have to wait another 2 hours for the car to be towed because my cars illegal. He was very rude to me and made me feel like I was the one who did something wrong even though someone hit my car while it was parked. I called totem and they sent a guy named johnathan, super apologetic and actually cared about my car. Didn't have an issue with the height he was fully prepared and got the car on the flat deck quick and without any concern Ask for johnathan! Who ever the other guy was. I wish I got your name you should be fired

Totem Towing was contacted this morning by BCAA to tow my truck and my travel trailer after my truck broke down on my way home from the campground. Two tow trucks arrived, within about 20 minutes, hooked up and were gone in 10 minutes. One towing my travel trailer to my home, the other towing my truck to a shop near my home. Very polite operators with lots of knowledge and experience. Just made a really stressful experience so much less so. Strongly recommend this company!

Fast and friendly service! I used them through BCAA when I locked my keys in my car. On the phone, BCAA told me it would be 45 minutes which I wasn't excited about but oh well I figured it was a busy day, then maybe 5 minutes later Totem called me saying they were 2 minutes away! The driver (#54 Corbin) was very friendly and helpful and got my car door open in under 5 minutes. Definitely would suggest this company for more then just breaking into your car as they were very professional, fast and friendly for such a simple job, chances are they would be good with anything else too. My car hates me. I hate my car. It had died on me and I needed it towed. I called my mechanic shop & they recommended Totem Towing. The woman who answered the phone was quite professional & courteous with a splash of personality. The truck arrived 15 minutes later and the driver was super nice. He even offered to have a look at the car before I took it to the shop just in case there was something that was an easy fix. Overall my experience was awesome and I would not hesitate to recommend Totem Towing to anyone

I had a bad starter, well I know that now. I had taken it in to the Dealer to look at twice already, still no diagnosis. Of course, it always starts when it is warm, but rarely when it is cold. Well it did for them cold, of course. Called Totem to come and haul it back in for another look. My call was answered right away, fast and friendly on the phone, told me 45 min they would arrive. 15 minutes later Jonathan shows up in the BCAA truck (I wasn't even ready). He takes a quick listen, and says "I can start this". Under the vehicle he goes, bangs on the starter while I crank it over...boom, running. "Your starter is shot" he says. $60.00 service call instead of a $170.00 tow. Its back in the shop getting a new starter now. Great service, super fast and very friendly. Thanks for the effort on all counts! Also going to re-sign up for BCAA too.

Tonight Saturday Dec 22/18 my tire blew on my 2018 Nissan Leaf. I called my Nissan roadside assistance and thry said Totem would come however it could be an hour and a half wait. Well a friend and went back to unload my car as it was full of stuff I was moving. We arrived at the car and literally one minute later Chase arrived and was ready to tow. We quickly unloaded and Chase towed my car to Campus Nissan. That was my quickest towing experience and I will remember Totem when I need towing. Thanks Totem and Chase :)

Just called Totem on behalf of a customer for a battery jump. I told them the customer was right around the Douglas Street/Herald Street intersection in a red Kia. After a few minutes of a web search for the area by the staff member, I was told this wasn’t enough information to go off of and they wouldn’t send a vehicle. Called a different company offering the exact same information and they sent a truck no problem. I understand it’s helpful for the tow service to have landmarks when trying to locate a vehicle, but that’s not going to happen in every situation. I’m thinking that guy sitting out front of his red Kia around the intersection of Douglas/Herald waving his arms as you drive by would be a pretty good indicator of the vehicle you’re searching for, hey?

Outstanding service from Nate at the weekend. Our car wouldn't start while we were out with our 5 month old. Nate showed up quickly, was professional, knowledgeable, competent, friendly and provided service which generally went above and beyond our expectations. He got us going, followed us home to make sure we made it (we had to drive the car as the child seat wouldn't fit in the tow truck), and then continued to tow our car to the shop while we stayed at home. He helpfully backed my truck into my garage so that I could work on it. I never felt as if he was rushing me along so that he could get to his next call. On a rare icy day in Victoria, we needed our car towed to a mechanic for brake issues. We were given a time frame of 1 hour for a truck to respond. Totem called us in about a half hour with an ETA of 10 minutes. The driver called us in about 8 minutes to say he was in attendance. While he was hooking up our car he had a lady arrive saying she needed him to help her get into her car because her door lock was frozen shut. He gave her advice on how to get into her car (lock de-icer) and told her he was sorry, he was committed to serving the call he was currently on. She stomped off, and sent her boyfriend who began demanding that the driver attend their vehicle. (Downtown Victoria where rational behaviour seems to be in extremely short supply.) The driver (Jim C) responded that he could not attend their car, and again explained how to use de-icer for the lock. The man left, and then came back demanding de-icer. The driver politely responded that he had no need to carry it, and had none in his vehicle. (There is a store which carries this product about a half block away.) Our vehicle was transported safely to the mechanic, despite black ice on the roads today. I commend Totem Towing for hiring such professional, courteous operators as Jim C. I highly recommend this Towing company to anyone who needs roadside assistance.

My car got stuck on the rock while reversing the vechile on the rough road. I have called GM Onstar services they were super friendly and booked my appointment with the Totem Towing. They had arrived my location within 15min of call from GM. The NOLAN from Totem Towing was so friendly and their service was so fast. Within 5 min of leaving the place, NOLAN made a call back to me and suggested me to go showroom and have a check on underneath of the vechile to make sure everything is right with the vechile. Its nice of him. I like the care taken by the Totem Towing services towards the customer. I highly recommends this company for towing services.

I can't thank Brian at Totem Towing enough for all the help we received a few weeks ago. The alternator decided to die on our van on a dirt road leading to Sombrio beach, in the middle of nowhere on Vancouver Island. With no cell service for miles, i had to leave my partner for an hrs drive with others to the nearest gas station and call BCAA. Brian called me at the gas station and informed me of a long wait ahead due to my location, but was very comforting and reassuring that he was coming, that he knew exactly where i was and that help was on the way. Even tho i had a few hrs wait, i felt comforted in knowing he was concerned for my safety and he was coming as fast as he could. Brian arrived earlier than anticipated and got the van on the truck without a hitch. Even on the awkward dirt road the van died on. He then drove us all the way to Victoria to the dealer we needed and then offered to take us right to a hotel after, as it was after midnight at this point. Brian was great company and so kind to us during this crappy experience. We had never been to the island before, so he also acted as a bit of a tour guide as well. Almost 2 hrs went by and it felt like 10 mins talking to an old pal. I had to write this to both say how awesome Totem Towing was, but to Thank Brian for how friendly, professional and helpful he was to us while we were stuck. Thanks again! The dispatcher was super friendly and put my mind at ease that they could help. They said 45 min which was not unreasonable considering where I was. I then recieved a call 10 min later saying they had a driver on their way and would be 10 min...he showed up in 9! The driver was professional and friendly! Not that I want to call for a tow truck again...but if I did...it would be Totem :)

He unlocked our Silver Journey that our cute little dog accidently stepped on the lock and evidently locked us out. I just can't say enough about the amazing service all the way around. My car was towed because it was uninsured for 1 day. I was never given notice that my car was towed, infact I thought it was stolen. Eventually, after calling 6 towing companies I discovered totem towing had towed my car. According to saanich bylaws the towing fees can be no more than $85 with 20.50 additional per day for storage. My car was there for two days. I paid them 500 dollars. When I spoke with the manager I showed him the saanich bylaws. In response he was abusive towards me and used very hostile language. I didn't want to engage in his abusive behavior so I paid and left. When my car was dropped off, the battery was dead and it made an awful noise that I've never heard it make before. It sounds completely broken. I am on long term disability and live with chronic fatigue so dealing with this was wonderful.Considering legal action. I will say the customer service guy who helped me on the phone was very helpful and the tow truck driver was as well. When he realized my car couldn't run he boosted my battery for me.

Totem Towing was recommended to me by a local car dealership and when my truck wouldn't start, I decided to call them. The tow truck driver we got was the best! He was kind, funny and above all, knowledgeable. I think his name was Dave! He had years of service behind his belt. There was however, a circumstance that came up after the tow and it ended up being dealt with by no other than "Totem towing". This circumstance could have very well been the fault of the service repair place.....we will never truly know! To tell you just how great Totem Towing customer service is, Sheldon the assistant manager, was so fantastic, that he came to my rescue and resolved the issue. Honestly, he went above and beyond to help me and at the end of the day, we all don't know who was responsible. Sheldon was the man who stepped up to the plate and helped me the most ! Thank you Sheldon. I want people to know just how wonderful this company is!!!

We were camping at Goldstream and managed to lock our keys in the car just before kids bedtime. Paul came to our site, in what seemed to be no time, and unlocked our vehicle. He then let the 4 kids in our site turn on the lights and, under supervision, extend and lift the trucks vehicle tow arm. The kids loved it and now point at tow trucks and call them all "Paul" trucks. Thanks again totem towing.

When picking up my vehicle from Totem, there were personal items of a person (from Nanaimo) I’ve never met before left in my vehicle. I called Totem and asked if this person was one of their staff members. I was advised that they aren’t a staff member, nor have they even heard of this person before. When speaking with a manager, they advised they would look into this, and call me back within a few days to advise what they had found out from security footage, and if there was any explanation to how the belongings of a stranger to me, and the company, ended up in my vehicle. It’s been well over three weeks, and I have yet to receive a phone call from the manager I was dealing with. I’ve called and left messages, asking to speak with the same individual I spoke with initially, with no call back. When speaking with this manager, I explained I felt like my privacy had been violated, and that this seriously made me uncomfortable as it looked like someone had been using my vehicle, while it had been on their lot. This manager was dismissive of my concerns and frankly, spoke in a very rude tone to me. I’m a young woman, who felt like there was a possibility my safety was at risk, and was brushed off for simply stating my concerns. At one point during the call, it sounded like he laughed while I was explaining my worries. Unfortunate way to treat a person.

My car got stuck on a part of my own driveway. The guy who answered the phone was quite understanding. Not 30 minutes later, the tow truck showed up(in pouring rain, no less!). The driver was friendly, helpful, and professional. Got my car out with ease. He also lifted my car up a little after so I could have a look at the damage(my car hit a curb when it got stuck), as well as offering some advice on what I could do. A very unpleasant experience made a lot less unpleasant! Would recommend to anyone who got their car stuck somewhere. They charge about $80 for recovery(towing your car out if you are stuck), for anyone who is curious.

Fantastic service, was was able to get a tow within 30 minutes of calling. Receptionist was very nice and pleasant to talk to. The person who came to pick up my car convinced me to drop it off at a mechanics (which he helped with finding a good one near my house) instead of my house to save me an extra towing fee and was able to give me a lift home after. He also was able to give a basic diagnosis on what he thought was the issue with my car. I felt if the car had an easy fix and could have been driven home he would have told me which I appreciated.

The gentleman who was sent to tow a jeep patriot for us was super patient as the elderly couple we had bought the jeep from were a but forgetful and had backed the jeep up a bit to much making the towing a bit of a hassle for him. Even though I did not use Totem's service personally, I still need to give "kudos" to the company and especially the driver ( Vincent), who came to the aid of a good female friend who experienced her first flat tire ever, which was on dark, rainy, cold night several miles from her home. Vincent arrived within a short period of time and his demeaner from the get go made the situation somewhat an enjoyable experience ! As he quickly and efficiently replace the tire with a spare, his general conversation & banter with us dissolved the stress of the situation and by the time he made some recommendations of tire repair shops and wished us an enjoyable rest of the evening, we all felt relieved and appreciative of someone who in earnest was there to assist us.
