I called Lima's after being side-swiped by a truck on Gorge Rd at the recommendation of a co-worker and friend who was a personal friend of the shop's owner as well as having heard good reviews from the JDM community on having aftermarket installations and bodywork done. The gentleman I spoke with, however, left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth -- after describing the damage, he immediately told me that my car was better written off even though he had not seen the car or pictures of the damage (the damage was mostly cosmetic and the shop that DID complete the repairs only ended up replacing a mirror housing and the side emblem - they were able to repair the existent door skin, front fender, and rear quarter panels). He also told me they and every other respectable body shop on the island were booked solid until the end of October (the call to Lima's was placed mid-September; the shop that did the work booked me in and had the car back to me within a week and a half of the initial call) and that it would take over a week to complete the repairs (again, the shop that did complete the repairs took only 3 days and you would never know looking at it that it had been in a collision at all based on the quality of work). Additionally, he provided me with unsolicited - and INCORRECT - information about how to go about filing my ICBC claim with a shop to have the repairs done. Quality of work of this shop may be decent, but I definitely would not bring my vehicle here after this conversation - very poor customer service and incorrect information provided; does NOT inspire confidence when I want my 40K car to look showroom-perfect again after an accident.

MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Lima's Body and Paint Shop does the best work in town. There is no substitute for "Old School" experience provided by their quality technicians including Glen (best body man around) and Randy (he always goes the extra mile). Jose the owner is hands on, taking time to explain all the details. I was very happy with the excellent work they did to fix the car. They offer loaner cars too. Prices are very fair for the high quality work they do. I will always use Lima's Body & Paint Shop for all of my ICBC claims. Great job guys. You deserve this 5 star rating.

Take your car here! As someone who is new to the car ownership club, I was pretty nervous bringing in my car because I was expecting something along the lines of an aggressive 1970's car salesman kind of deal where there were all these hidden catches that I for sure wouldn't catch. But, at Lima's, I felt taken care of, respected and included in the process of fixing my car door. They explained everything to me, including all the insurance jargon that I still was trying to understand. I have an old 2000 mercury cougar and they don't make this car AT ALL anymore. They went through so many hoops to find a door for me, even though they were so busy. I did have to wait longer than I was initially told, but in all honesty it was totally worth it. They fixed my door as well as helped in one other small repair that wasn't included with no charge. These are great guys who take pride in what they do. So trust Lima's Body & Paint Shop.

A week ago my car was broken into and the thief messed up the lock on the driver-side door. I could no longer unlock the driver-side door from the outside as the key would not go in all the way. I saw the high reviews for Lima's, and decided to check it out for an estimate. I am so happy I came here. The owner, José, took one look at the lock and told me he could fix it up quick. He realigned it in minutes, and the lock works perfectly now! Not only did he charge me nothing for the fix, but he noticed that my door was slightly misaligned and decided to fix that too, giving a small lesson on how to re-align it myself! José is a class act, and all of his staff are very friendly. If I ever have car trouble again, Lima's will be the first place I go. A+ service!

I tell everyone about Limas because the service was excellent and their the one of the last if not the last family-owned body shop in Vic. I had my lock punched out on my passenger side door and ICBC was going to write off the car. Luckily a friend had told me about Limas and suddenly I had options again. I took my car to Jose who was super nice to me and promised me that we'd get my car patched up on budget. And even though I didn't have the insurance money for a courtesy car he offered to give me a ride to work after I dropped my car off. I had my car back in 3 days and it looked great.

I'm new to Victoria, but even after almost a year parking my car in the underground garage, I had to misfortune to tangle with the pillar beside my stall - and needless to say, the pillar won. I hardly slept that night, fretting about the huge repair bill I'd have to pay. Luckily I mentioned the damage to my new optician at ArtSee Eyeware and she told me to take the car to José at Lima Body & Paint Shop. I pulled in late on a Saturday afternoon, to be greeted warmly by José himself. He took one look at the car and told me not to fret - he'd have the car looking great in no time at all! He turned his expert attention to the damage and I couldn't believe my eyes! One hour later we were shaking hands and I walked away with the best pre-Mother's Day surprise ever! What a guy - I think we'll be friends forever. Hopefully I'll never need his professional services again, but I can't recommend him highly enough. Thanks José, I'll spread the word far and wide!

Jose is the man! This is the kind of local body shop experience you thought you only heard in the "old days". Local family business with a fantastic crew, who are all very warm and kind folks. I bought a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe, and there are some imperfections on it, and there are the ones I accidentally created myself. The main damage was with the rocker panel of the car, which was dented in. This would make a noticeable whine when I am driving on the highway, and water could get in really easily. After seeing a lot of online reviews, I decided to take it to them. Jose was very informative, friendly and knowledgeable about the issue and later repaired it for me for a good price. It took a while, but when I saw the finished product I thought it was worth the wait. I would highly recommend their shop, and I will be returning if something else happens.

I'm a little taken aback from all the great reviews of this autobody shop. Let me share my experience. A couple months ago, I went in person to get a quote to have some damage repaired through an ICBC claim, as well as some extra work at the same time - several years ago, I had heard some good things about this shop. I asked for a quote after chatting with the owner for about 30 minutes, and they booked my vehicle in for the work in just a few weeks away. I was promised the quote in a couple days. A week later, I called to follow up, and they had "started" the quote, but hadn't sent it off yet. I was again promised the quote by the end of the next day. The gentleman gave me his cell number - I called after another week, and once again was promised the quote ASAP. Well here I am, a month later and still no quote. I feel like this shop is on the down and out trajectory. I was nice and pleasant with everyone in the shop, but saw no results. Be warned before wasting your time like I did.

Top notch quality, awesome service and speedy work, these folks were a pleasure to work with. I was rear ended in my 82 Land Cruiser, my pride and joy, and I was worried about the integrity of the vehicle and whether or not anybody would be able to make it look perfect and original again. None of the original prowess was sacrificed and I would even say that Jose and the rest of his team made my truck look even better than before! They even completely washed my vehicle from the frame to waxing the wheels before I picked it up, and what was estimated as a weeks worth of work they did in about 4 or 5 days! They even gave me the left over touch up paint so I could fix any scratches on the rest of the truck myself. If anything was to ever happen to my vehicle again, I'm going straight to Lima's.

The dealership I normally and faithfully go to suggested they check to see if a wheel alignment was required. After checking they advised a proper alignment could not be done as the frame had been bent which meant a very expensive repair. Jose had a look and found the frame in perfect alignment. Well it must be something else he said, so Jose went through every possible part that could be causing the problem. He finally found a minor component which could be the problem. They are so good! I had a great experience with them regarding diagnosis of why my vehicle roof has leaks all over when it rains. I immediately got a booking, brought it there then after a day I got back, then they are certain that the only cause of all these leaks is the sunroof. They fixed it and did not leak again after all the rain last week. I was so happy I was given a super fair price for the fix. They are pro that they only suggest what the real problem is. This will surely be my go to shop.

I'd only had my pristine, low-mileage 1987 Corolla for about a month when its trunk got smashed in a parking lot hit and run. ICBC said the trunk lid needed replacing; it would probably be impossible to find the part; and even then, it would cost too much to fix. They wanted to give me $1000 and crush the car. My regular auto shop recommended Lima, and ICBC said Lima was my best chance to keep the car, because their labour prices are lower than other shops. Jose Lima searched the parts dealers for a trunk lid, and he found one in perfect shape. When I saw the final repair job, I was thrilled. They did a fantastic job, and you would never know the car was ever damaged. Fast, professional service too. Highly recommended!

Lima's went above and beyond repairing my car after an unfortunate event where a friend damaged it. After a fair bit of looking around Lima's seemed to be the most reputable online and was the most personable during the in-person appraisal. The price was extremely reasonable, and Jose was very understanding of our financial circumstances as we are both University students. The car now looks better than ever! The manager was also extremely accomodating, even providing a ride home when I needed one, and later shower me a few tricks on small touch ups to the car. Another pleasant surprise was finding my front license plate mounted on my car free of charge from the guys at the shop (after just changing over from AB plates I was still waiting to get the front license plate mounted)! Beyond pleased with the work and customer service!

This is the 2nd time I've gone to Lima's Autobody to get a quote to fix a scratch on my car, and I will never go anywhere else. I highly recommend them to everyone. Chris, the new owner, gave me a couple options with what I could do to repair the scratch and provided me with prices. Since it was just a small scratch, I chose to have the marks painted over and Chris kindly offered to fix it for me free of charge. He also fixed the problem I had with my windshield wiper as well. I will continue to use their services as long as they're in business as they're always so helpful, they do great work and their pricing is always fair. The first time I went there a couple years ago, I received such great service from Jose, and now Chris has continued to carry on this great service. They're the only body shop I will ever take any of my cars to with any issues I have. This was my previous review from 2019: I went to Lima’s Body Shop last week to get a quote to fix a couple scratches on my car. I had Googled body shops and came across the great reviews for this place. I received such great service from the moment I got there. Jose took the time to explain what work needed to be done to completely fix the scratches on my car. He gave me a very fair price and even matched a price that a lesser competitor gave me. Also, even though I was only there for a quote, he offered to polish some surface scratches on my car free of charge. I had dislodged by bumper from bottoming out my vehicle and decided to give Lima's Body & Paint Shop a try. I was given a very good price for the work required to reinstall my bumper so I left them the car on the spot. To my surprise they had gone above and beyond to improve the fitment of my front lip and also repair some broken tabs in the process to ensure my bumper will remain firmly mounted in place. Even before my mishap my bumper was slightly misaligned but now everything literally fits perfectly. To top it all off this was all done in a promptly time frame.I'm extremely pleased. My experience with Jose and his body shop was great, just like many of the other reviews here. I took my new truck in to see if anything could be done about the scratches that ran all the way down the side. I could see he was really busy but he still fit me in and actually did the work the same day himself for a price I know could not be beat anywhere else. He also had one of his apprentices shining up my rims while he worked on the scratches which was awesome. I met Jose at a gas station where he told me about his auto body shop and asked me to visit him in case i needed anything done on my BMW. I decided to see him after a couple of months to get some bad touch up paint done by myself fixed. He cleaned up a couple of scratches on the spot for free which i really appreciate but he also asked me to write him a review as a favour and text him if i needed more work done on my car. Since then i have sent him like a 1000 texts only to get 0 replies. I tried calling him and once even booked an appointment. On the day of the appointment i reached the shop and i was told that he could not help me because he is busy doing he’s taxes and i should text him to book another appointment. I decided to find another autobody shop instead of wasting my time with jose. He would probably help you on your first visit for free but thats so that he could get you to write him a stupid review. to anyone needing their automobile repaired, i highly recommend LIMA'S autobody !!! a few months ago, i got into a fender bender (my fault) and the front left side of my car was smashed in. the hood didn't latch anymore, and the horn and safety lights weren't working. initially, i went to some other collision repair shop and they told me it was a write-off....they wouldn't touch my car, quoting a ridiculous price. i did however get a recommendation to go to lima's autobody in victoria. why not ! when i got there, jose lima himself took a look at it, knew what he needed to fix it, talked me through the details and then spent a half hour or so of his time to find the parts and give me a quote. during that time in the lobby, jose lima came across to me as being a genuine and friendly person.( the staff were cool too) he went above and beyond to help get my car back on the road. when he quoted the price, i just had to smile ! oh yah, one more thing. limas autobody is a family business....i just didn't expect it to feel like my family ! thank you Lima's autobody, and thank you Jose Lima !

I can’t say enough nice things about Lima’s Body Shop. Always professional and super friendly - go out of their way to help customers. Went in to ask about weather stripping /caulking to seal the gasket on the trunk of my wife’s car (which had been a problem since she took it to the dealership for servicing). The dealership (Metro Toyota) was no help - their only suggestion was to take it elsewhere because they would have to charge us $130 per hour to figure it out!!! I ended up at Lima’s hoping for a bit of advice about caulking... When I asked about the caulking, one of the lead hands stopped what he was working on and took the time to look at the problem himself. He didn’t send me off to buy caulking, nor did he advise me to book an appoint ‘for a consultation’... instead he took the time, and solved the problem by adjusting the fit in the trunk. Wow! How often do you come across highly skilled, busy craftsmen who are willing /able and want to offer that kind of service to customers? It’s heartening to know that we still have businesses and people like that... old-time service from skilled, and friendly professionals. Many thanks Jose.

I had badly dented the front right of my Corolla, and had gotten an estimate from another shop, which I just couldn't afford. But I then took the car to these guys, had a good talk with Jose, and he worked out a much more affordable option. He phoned a wrecker and got a replacement fender for a great price, and installed it for a very reasonable cost. I just picked the car up, and the work done is excellent. And some unexpected extras--they drove me home after I dropped off the car, and then vacuumed and washed it after completing the work! I highly recommend Lima's. October 2020: booked Limas to fix a dent a scratch from a hit and run on passenger door based on positive Google reviews. Booking easy, paint job looks good. But: claimed they had to paint driver door and rear panel to help blend the paint. Other places said they could blend easier. Took over a week to get car back for such a small job. Replacement car not provided- had to go up road to rent a car, pay up front, get reimbursed. Limas did reimburse, but rental company began hassling me about preexisting damage done to rental - lots of chips and scratches. Limas deactivated my rear cross traffic sensors without reactivating them - I thought they weren't working, Limas was defensive about it but said they would try to fix. I figured it put eventually. Lastly, and this is the biggest reason why only 2 stars, they killed my battery. Right after getting my car back, car died and needed a boost. Just needed a 2nd boost again. Never had to do this before bringing my car there. Told them about it - they apologized and admitted this happens all the time, as they have to keep doors open so much during repair...! I've had plenty of bodywork done on cars without my battery dying after. No offer to reimburse, icbc notified. Even icbc says thats not good service. Needing more work done due to another car hitting mine (thankfully he left a note) but I definitely won't be bringing my car here again. Maybe they're ok with older cars, but I don't trust them with my newer vw gti.

based on the reviews I chose Lima auto body to repair my truck. When I got my truck back I noticed the door didn't close properly, there was a crease in the door and the colour did not match. I took it back and was put on the defensive until the owner realized the repair was sub standard . They had to get a new door skin and repaint the door. This time the colour match was good but the door still didn't close properly, rattles plus the power window will not stay up without a lot of work. As a woman dealing with this company was so unpleasant that I haven't returned the truck for further repair. I will be out of pocket to have this beautiful truck fixed by another body shop.

Scratched my roof on a low overhang on a company work trip in one of their trucks. stumbled upon Limas by accident, and i tell you was it a great find. I thought the whole roof had to be repainted. Owner Jose said that they could easily buff it out for me. Other places would've charged me around 100-120 bucks. He only charged me 60. I had the work done the very next day. Jose told me it might be about an hour or so. They had it done in about 15 minutes. Great attitude, very friendly staff and owner. I recommend Limas to everyone. I went to Lima's body shop with some moderate scratches on my car from scraping a wall while parking. The body shop I had gone to before quoted me $300-400. I went in right as they were closing, looking for a quote. Jose was still around, and took a look at the car. He explained that the scratches were deep enough that a proper job would require the panel being being repainted, but that he could try to see what happens with some buffing and elbow grease. Even though the shop had closed, Jose started working on the car right then and there. Half an hour later, the panel looked good as new, at least to me. I thanked him for his work and asked how much I owed him. He told me it was no big deal and on the house. This is a guy who truly cares about his customers, and obviously is not looking to squeeze out every penny out of anyone that walks though his doors. I will be taking my motorcycle in soon for some paint work, because after going there once there's no other place I'd rather go. Thanks Jose.

we had a little incident with a hydro pole and the rear quarter panel of our Toyota Matrix. The pole won and we found ourselves in need of a body shop. I saw an incredible number of reviews for Lima's and decided to check him out and was fortunate to catch him closing up on a Sat. afternoon. He took the time to explain the methods of repair and determined what was most affordable and structurally sound for the car. Plus he gave us a real education on the industry and what to expect from other shops. I went to 3 other shops in town for estimates as he insisted and sure enough it played out just as he had said. Limas did the job on time, beautiful workmanship, able to squeeze us in much earlier than any other shop at the time and even saved us a little money on parts so the final bill was less than quoted. How often does that happen? Plus Jose is entertaining as hell and an honest tradesman who takes pride in his craft. Have no fear Jose and his crew are here. If he says he can do it he can there's really no need to go any where else. Cheers...

Even though I have been a customer of Lima’s body & paint shop twice before and was very happy with the quality of their work, I am sorry to say that as far as punctuality goes things are not as good. Had an appointment today at 9 and despite having to deal with a work emergency I managed to be there at 8:50 only to be told that the owner wouldn’t be able to honor our appointment, nor had he arranged for anyone else to do the work. ( a water leak issue inside the cabin that needed to get some drains unclogged ) There was no text message to let me know he couldn’t make it either. I was told that he could perhaps fit me in next week with no guarantees... If I had known I would have taken my car to a different place a week ago, which I did right after this and got an appointment for the same day!

Jose Lima comes highly recommended and now I know exactly why. When I had my car towed to Lima’s after hours I felt a bit helpless; there was extensive damage and I rely on my vehicle for work. Just the next morning Jose (with Gabriel’s assistance) thoroughly explored all of the repair options with me – in terms of parts, price and hours to repair – until we decided on what was best for my given situation. The team at Lima’s started to work on my car soon after it was brought in and throughout the repairs Jose kept me updated, even sending photos of work that had been completed. I appreciated this level of communication, as it eased some of the stress related to the process. When my car was ready to go Jose stayed at the shop later so I was able to conveniently pick it up on my way home from work. The repairs were perfect; even better than I could have imagined. Gary (and all the others who had a hand) really outdid himself, despite the mess that was my car he was initially given to work with. Perhaps what was almost appreciated most, not to mention a pleasant surprise, was that damage from an earlier and separate incident was completely gone – complements of Lima’s. They popped out a massive dent, unrelated to this particular shop visit, and removed the heinous red paint that tainted my white vehicle and made me cringe every time I looked at it. (A special thank-you to the person who did this; I didn’t catch his name, but he deserves acknowledgement for going above and beyond and for his affable disposition.) All around outstanding experience, from the friendly and professional staff to the thorough service. My sincerest THANKS to Jose Lima and everyone at Lima’s Autobody and Paint Shop. 10/10 would recommend.

Had my mothers car in for repair after someone hit it, they did a clean job on the outside, the only problem was the door wouldn't lock anymore, so I took the door apart to see what was wrong and found they didn't connect the locking mechanism when they put everything back together, hot glued the door panels back in place and called it a day(there was maybe one or two trim clips still in tact at least). To add insult to injury they lost the badges that were on the side of the car.

Firstly we had a really good conversation on March 12 and made an appointment for March 21 to do the repair. Promised me it could be done in few days after appointment. During these days none of you guys contacted with me to update the status, When I got there on 21 I was told that you hadn’t even order the parts yet. So I had to wait another unknown days. But I was planning to sell my car before March 25 because the buyer told me he could pay 5k if I repair the vehicle before 25, But due to the delay of the repairing without notice and the COVID-19, I finally sold it with only 3.5k on 27. After I sold my car then this store finally called me and told me that the parts is arrived. I said my car was sold already and you guys just got mad on me for no reason. U guys broke the promise first( didn’t finish the job before 25) and didn’t update with me on time, I made couple calls for no response, so I felt disappointed then I had to sell my car without repair it because the COVID-19 was going to shut down everything during that period. I lost around 1k just because of the delay of the repairing. I didn’t mean to blame anyone but I couldn’t accept that you just blamed on me and got mad at me. I don’t think it’s a good way to treat your customer. But honestly we truely had a excellent conversation before. It was a nice experience with you at the beginning but I felf so bad at the end.
