My daughter had her 2009 Honda Ridgeline towed to this location for service. The AC compressor was not working. Two days later she was told they couldn't repair it, couldn't find a compressor for it anywhere in Canada! She had the truck towed back to the house. I went to see the service manager to hear exactly what was wrong with the truck. He told me they tried all the local and national suppliers and could not find a compressor for this truck, but even if they had found one it would've been to expensive to repair a truck that has over 400K. He literally told me you may find a salvage operation that would take the truck! We are talking about a touring model bought for over $50K and had a new transmission, new timing belt...etc. I called a trusted mechanic in Vancouver and told him the story. He asked me to idle the car and take a short video of the engine and send it to him. After watching a 30 second video, he called me and told me I could drive it to Vancouver no problem but just can't speed too much. I took the ferry super worried about stalling on the ferry or on the highway but nothing happened. The bottom line, the Vancouver mechanic ordered me a new AC compressor online for under $300, charged me $50 for filling it with new gas, and 3 hours of labour. The whole bill was just under $600. I asked him if the truck was road worthy for a trip to the Rockies and he said you can go to Nova Scotia with it. He wasn't wrong, I drove it 4,400 KM in two weeks, across mountain ranges, highways, rural roads...etc. It worked like charm. That was in July and it's September now, had two oil changes, 11,000 km more, and zero issues with the truck. This is the same truck the service manager told me not worth fixing.

Just bought a 'new' car yesterday and brought it in for an oil change with an inspection, and tire rotation. Goodie, yes thats his name, went through the inspection with me, pointed out what should be done in spring. Couldn't be happier with bill - less than 60 bucks. Good job, especially Goodie! Recently took my vehicle in for a inspection .Ran into a unexpected problem while trying to repair a minor item . Goodie (?) went above an beyond to make sure I was happy with the service an that the inconvenience was kept to a minimum .Some shops would have covered it up or explained away or just plain old passed the buck but BCAA went the extra mile in admitting the mistake and making sure I was happy with their making it right. They covered the part - the rental car and even the original cost of the inspection. I will most certainly be taking my car back there when need work done.

Recently I had a total breakdown in the middle of the day all the way out near the ferry terminal. The BCAA tow truck came for me in less than 1/2 an hour and brought me all the way back into town to the service centre. There the problem was diagnosed and repaired by the end of that same day despite arriving unannounced in the late morning. Thank you BCAA team you guys are all A+. Shout-out to Goodie and Stevie the front line staff for their excellent customer service.

I had some damage to my suspension/frame and brought my vehicle here for repair. They quickly assessed it and called me back right away. They didn't have the specialty tools to handle this particular job as it was fairly extensive but they also didn't charge me for the a vehicle alignment check and a drive test! I was really impressed with that and their honesty and their customer service was great! Highly recommend these guys.

Front staff are polite and friendly. Service is fast. I came in for a winter tire swap and the service rep walked me through a checklist of routine inspections performed on my car, including the condition of both the winter tires swapped out and the all-seasons swapped in. It was odd that even though the inspection found that a tail light was busted, I had to ask about it before the service rep even brought it up. The light was replaced quickly and for free. I’m not sure if it was done for free because it was a very minor repair or because they neglected to mention it during the inspection run-through. It’s also not clear to me who gets a car wash and who doesn’t. I didn’t get one and I wasn’t asked. If I had been asked, I would have wanted one even if I had to pay for it.

Have brought my car in 4 times, have always had to wait much longer than expected. This time, 1 hour oil change/service took 3 hours. Paul was very rude (I see trends of that in recent reviews) and did not communicate with me, kept telling me they were very busy. Was drastically over-quoted for a part, which I have experienced in the past here. Manager called me after I left poor feedback on their survey - I was offered a car wash. Will not be returning.

Assistant manager Goodee was amazing. Our family was in a crummy situation when the engine blew in our only vehicle. Luckily for us we had a backup, but it needed a lot of work. Goodee helped us get the vehicle in working order in a timely and cost effective way. He was in contact every step of the way, explaining what needed to be done and why, and what the cost would look like. Flexible drop off and pick up of the vehicle were an appreciated bonus. I honestly could not recommend him enough, I won’t hesitate to take our car to him for all future work our car may need. Thank you SO much Goodee and BCAA Auto Service Centre.

Unfortunately my past experience with BCAA was negative. Paul was very unprofessional and I was treated with little respect. After making an appointment 2 weeks prior I arrived to his very unwelcoming response saying I did not have an appointment and making it seem like I was causing a major inconvenience to his day. As a member I felt very unwelcome. I decided not to get the work done there partially because of the unreasonable pricing and secondly because of the way I was treated. I had the same work I was quoted on done at a different shop for almost HALF the price. I have had great experiences with BCAA in the past but Paul made this experience very unpleasant and I will not be going back.

I'm very disappointed in my first BCAA Auto Service experience. I was looking forward to dependable service while traveling North America and this set the standard low. Though the customer service was there, the follow through wasn't. I ended up taking my truck in 5 times in one week. Firstly for an oil change and rear brake replacement. My first stop got the oil change done but not the brakes, so I had to bring it in a second time. After the brakes were done, the engine light came on. Third visit. They checked stuff out and the light went off. Light back on, fourth visit, they kindly replaced a failing button at their cost. Light went off for a few days and then back on - by this time I am about 4 days away from driving to Nevada with a 30ft trailer, which I was upfront about. I NEEDED my vehicle to be in proper working order. On the fifth visit, they ran an inspection and couldn't discern what the error messages were. They said they would look into it and get back to me but it was like finding a needle in a haystack. For the SIXTH TIME THAT WEEK I took my truck into a shop, this time to a GMC mechanic. They found and resolved the issue which was, get this, JUST SPARK PLUGS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. Anyways, the staff were friendly but the work was inefficient and it wasted far too much of my time - I would have loved to resolve this with BCAA and left a more positive review, but don't feel like it's an option at this point.

Had the pleasure of dealing with Goody here, our 2001 Suzuki Esteem bit the dust on the highway and everything from the call to BCAA for the initial tow, all to the end when their recommended scrap yard gave us a wicked deal and picked up the remains, the process was the easiest and lowest stress I’ve ever had. The staff are so courteous and helpful, feels like they go above and beyond to treat you right. I almost want my next car to break down just so I can encounter them again. Great work!!!

This place is likely good for oil changes but I had a frustrating experience trying to get a strut repaired on my car that was supposed to only take 2.5 hours to complete. Mechanics were not able to do the work which was fine, but kept stringing me along for 7 hours while I waited. I would’ve been more willing to give them a second chance if they had focused on my vehicle fully at the time of my appointment and decided they weren’t able to do the job instead of wasting my entire day and not being able to get the work done. The guys at the desk are friendly and tried their best to accommodate but there was a disconnect between them and the mechanic and I paid the price for it. My time is valuable to me and having an appointment meant nothing at this shop so I won’t depend on them for anything more than an oil change.

Previously, I interacted with the older gentlemen and a bigger guy for oil changes (don't remember their names but that's my flaw in not remembering people's name) it was always great. Today though, I had my 4 tires replaced, Paul ordered them for me yesterday and today the mechanic worked on them. as well as oil change and recommended alignment. Paul is great... he explained to me with whatever questions I asked as I know nothing when it comes to cars. Keep up the good work, guys! :D

WARNING! Double-check your invoice, line-by-line, to make sure they didn't "forget" anything extra on there. The staff were friendly and my car was fixed in a timely manner, HOWEVER, the final bill was more than I was expecting. When I arrived at the BCAA shop to pick up my vehicle I asked Brady at the front counter to go through the bill with me line-by-line to explain all the charges and he printed a copy out and started doing just that, going through each item line-by-line, UNTIL he got to the $300 part that wasn't supposed to be there, then he all of a sudden skips forward 4 lines to start explaining other charges below. I said, hang on, you skipped over this bit, can you tell me what this charge is for please, and I pointed to it. He then starts to explain to me the charge ABOVE that line, which I was obviously not pointing at. I interrupted him and said, no no, this charge right here, for a second rear left caliper, there's a rear left caliper charge here and another one right here, did you install 2 rear left calipers? He then finally says oh, geez, that's not supposed to be there, my mistake, sorry. Now, I would have gladly written it off to a "mistake" if he hadn't done the whole run-around with clearly trying to avoid explaining to me what that charge was on the invoice. I left there feeling very much like I was nearly scammed and wanted to make sure others like me don't have the same fate. CHECK YOUR INVOICE FROM BCAA! Ask them to explain each and every charge to you. It's your money!

Made an appointment last week for an oil change. They weren't too busy when I called at the service counter this p.m. so the service adviser filled in paper work and work proceeded as arranged. Inspection check reported brake lamp died so had my approval for replacement. Self serve complimentary coffee while waiting. Was told they started business in Feb. of 2018. In 50 minutes inspection checks, oil change/filter and car wash was accomplished. Paid the bill, drove off. Good job guys.

I received a call from BCAA Nanaimo and it was a real pleasure to talk to the manager about what’s missing from the website as to diagnostic charges, whether they are waived if you get them to do the work. The manager really listened to my concerns and indicated that he will investigate further — that is a customer service experience. made a scheduled appointment for my car. I waited a week. They told me they needed an hour to diagnose the issue and they handed me an authorization form indicating a $115.00 per hour diagnostic charge. No where on the BCAA web site was their any indication of diagnostic fees. I told them No Way and left. I emailed BCAA Customer Care, as I am a member purchasing car, home & travel insurance from them.

CONSUMER BEWARE! Do not go to this location if you are looking for honest reliable service! I brought my vehicle in for a pre-purchase inspection before selling my car to a buyer. Upon picking the vehicle up, a technician went through the inspection list with us. On the inspection form they reported that my transmission fluid needed to be changed, the technician went as far as to say "it was as brown as those boots" as he pointed to his colleagues work boots. I found this quite peculiar as I had actually had the transmission fluid flushed 5 days prior at the Jiffy Lube next door. When mentioning this, the technician responded "Oh...really? Well sometimes you just might need to flush it 2-3 times to get it all". I also thought this response was a bit peculiar also but I payed for the inspection and brought it back next door to investigate what/why my transmission fluid could be brown. When taking it back to Jiffy Lube, we discovered that the transmission plug had been completely stripped and the current mechanics were not able to get it open. At this point it looked like BCAA had stripped the plug. When we approached BCAA about the damaged plug, they claimed they did not even touch the plug and that it could not be them who damaged it. This lead us to ask how they could have even determined the transmission fluid was brown if they: A) Did not touch the transmission plug and B) did not get a look inside the transmission fluid due to them not removing the plug. The technician gave a bogus answer about checking the fluid from the top determining the fluid was brown but confirmed they did not check it the usually way all mechanics would check. Luckily the people at Jiffy Lube next door were amazing and helpful enough to send me to Victoria Transmission free of charge to replace the plug and to double check the status of the supposedly brown transmission fluid. These mechanics were able to replace the stripped plug while also confirming that my transmission fluid was actually looking brand new and red/pink as it should when just being replaced. Not only did BCAA fail to inform me they had stripped my plug and could not get a look into my transmission, they lied about the condition of my transmission fluid most likely in hopes that they would not have to replace the plug and that I would drive off without following up, to add insult to injury they charged me $222+. This made me question the credibility of everything else noted on the inspection sheet not to mention this cost me the sale of my vehicle. On top of this, I had to waste my time driving around to the different shops to finally confirm that my suspicions of their dishonesty was true. When I brought the paperwork back to BCAA confirming their inspection findings were false, their solution was for me to come in another day so they could do another inspection on my vehicle at this location free of charge. I voiced the lack of trust and confidence in their ability to do a fair and honest inspection at this point and finally they agreed to refund me fully. Had I not followed up, they very happily would have taken my money claiming zero fault. After all this ring around, the technician let me know his manager would be following up with me and to this day they still have not contacted me. BEWARE WHEN SELECTING THIS BUSINESS FOR YOUR AUTO NEEDS!! They are not the honest and trusted service providers you would expect under the umbrella of BCAA!

I brought my car in for an oil change and as usual, they did an inspection. When reviewing it afterwards, they told me that I needed new front brakes, rotors, and calipers. I was quoted $1200. Luckily, I did not book this service. After getting quotes at two different auto shops (that were much lower), I took my car to a trusted mechanic the next day. Guess what? My brakes are fine. I am thankful that I trusted my instinct and got a second opinion. After being loyal to BCAA for years, I will never let them touch a vehicle of mine again.

I've owned a car for 30 yrs, & the service I experienced at the BCAA Auto Service Centre on Bay St. was the best experience I've ever had as far as friendliness, expertise, & efficiency. My 23-yr-old Toyota Corolla was leaking brake fluid for a while but I was putting off the repair b/c one car place told me it would cost at least $1100 to replace the brake master cylinder, & might cost $1500 or more if there was a complication. My brake problem came to a huge crisis one day when almost all the brake fluid leaked out. I topped up the brake fluid & went to do errands, but decided to turn into BCAA instead fearing for the safety of the car. The gentleman who checked me in was Goodee & he was great, getting me an immediate appointment. BCAA got a brake master cylinder in for a fraction of the cost the other place quoted. Then it turned out that my car had an additional problem: the brake calipers needed changing. My car was pain in the backside. ha! Anyhow, one of the gentlemen there, Mitchell, was overseeing the work & he was great explaining it. In the end, I got a new master brake cylinder, 2 new brake calipers, an oil change, my emergency brake tightened .... for only $774!!! The mechanic was a real trooper. I know he spent a LOT more time on the car than what I was charged for. I left my car there for two days b/c it was having such a brake issue. I feel like I've won the lottery!! Plus, they had a great lounge with coffee, TV, and newspapers. Thanks so much Goodee, Mitch, & the mechanic who did such an AMAZING job on my brakes. I can't believe how good they work now. I feel like I have a brand new car.

This review is a positive update. Our Escape was sent in today for our regular service & oil change. I commented to the service clerk on that after service end last year & in 2 days after driving up island our car stalled & died just before entering Nanaimo. An hour to call BCAA towing service to get it to BCAA on Auld St. on a Sat. afternoon. A quick check revealed a dead battery & due to a few hours left before closing they unable to execute a repair. Because of a long weekend it was finally fixed on Wednesday. To my horror bill ended $902.54. Separate charges for towing over $150 as incurred due to distances from site to BCAA. Well the short story today is when I was presented the bill, the servicing cost was $58. As far as their star rating I would have given 10 stars if I was able to. This is because unexpectedly they absorb the charges meaning F.O.C. on my cash strap wallet. Talk about customer service! Btw I was served by Mitchell if you need to know. Last oil change total was $52 yesterday's change they bump it up to $68 & was given a Canadian Tire gift card worth $10.

I am giving 3 stars because of the way my problem was resolved, but the problem itself should warrant a zero star due to one individual I had to deal with. "Paul" initially gave me a quote for work that was unbelievably costly. When I sought a second opinion the mechanic was shocked at the cost. It sort of seemed like the guy was simply trying to squeeze as much cash out me as possible. That being said, I love the mechanics at this shop so decided to get the first portion of the work completed here. Goodee was great and adjusted the quote immediately to reflect the work being done, and the mechanics did a stellar job. So i decided to come back to get my second bit of work done. When I made the app I specified what work I wanted done, not the quote I was given. I did this again when I dropped the car off. "Paul" booked me in that day, ignored or didn't hear my request. When I came in to pick up my car, the final cost was more than double what it should be because Paul failed to let the mechanic know my wishes, and also decided not to put my member number on the work order, meaning I didnt get my discount. I felt scammed to be honest. Hence zero stars. But when I approached Goodee (assistant manager?) with the problem, he immediately apologized and eliminated the additional charges that I had not asked for. It took about 10 mins to resolve the problem. My car is running beautifully thanks to the excelletn mechanical work I received. 5/5 stars. I will be loyal to this shop, but I would avoid Paul especially if he perceives you to be someone who doesn't know what your car needs.

I had the worst worst worst ever experience at this place. Took my vehicle here for an out of province inspection. Identified 3 problems. Got them all fixed (and mind you it took two weeks to just get the OEM parts delivered, service appointment and stuff extra), take it back for the recheck and, they start finding new problems - this time with my fog lamp. I ask them why they didn't say anything the first time I was here, and no explanation. This guy, Paul - typical CAA employee. He didn't care about my time or effort, or about the fact that they screwed up the inspection the first time. Only thing he understood after the whole conversation is that I was getting furious and my voice was raising. First he looks at the old inspection report and thinks my new windshield that I got 2 days back is cracked. Then comes back saying it was a mistake and was looking at the old report and then says my fog light is cracked. BCAA can screw up my inspection and provide the absolute worst service ever, but apparently I'm not allowed to be furious about it. Isn't that great? I was a loyal CAA customer for over 4 years and that's why I took my vehicle here. But after the service I just received, I'm not renewing my membership nor bringing my vehicle here, ever. By the way, they replaced my fog lamp and completed the inspection, but unfortunately, I wouldn't want to deal with a company that treats their costumes like crap. Good buy CAA. It was fun while it lasted. So long...

Life savers. Stevie, you're the best! I have a classic car that died mysteriously last week. Called BCAA and they dispatched a tow immediately. Jim arrived and carefully hooked it up and took it to the service station on Bay St. They called about an hour later - said they took a quick look and saw the immediate problem plus another issue which I knew of. Another hour later they updated the checkup and said the mechanics agreed that there was two issues but not serious ones. They quoted me a price which was was less than I expected, and work I couldn't facilitate at home. They said the work would be completed later that night or first thing in the morning. I got a call the next morning that my 66 big block Chevy Caprice was ready and that they decided the one issue could be repaired by a mechanic without receiving a part from up island. They manufactured a part IN THE SHOP. PLUS IT REDUCED THE PRICE OF THE QUOTE. I won't name the price, but it was unbelievably reasonable for the work they did. I felt honesty, respect, and frankly joy, from the staff that worked here. They seemed to really enjoy working here and making the customer feel respected and taken care of. They had some suggestions for driving and maintaining my car. Which I did immediately and noticed an instant change in performance. I'm scheduling my other vehicles to come here for their yearly service checkups and pull changes. They got me. I'm staying with this service centre. Ask for Stevie. That's all I have to say. Fast, efficient, made an appointment that afternoon and was out before Downtown Victoria traffic. The staff was extremely friendly only downside that they didn't have a wiper for my Mercedes in stock. I was in for a wheel alignment.

Brought my car in last month. After getting several battery jumps from friends my car battery couldn't hold a charge so I brought it into BCAA thinking that either my alternator or my brand new battery would need replacing. They said they'd run tests and get back to me with the results before proceeding with the service. The following business day they called saying that the alternator and battery were fine, but the rear brakes were seized. So they did the work on that, but nothing about the battery because it was supposedly fine. On top of that I was supposed to bring the car back ideally the next day to get the brakes retorqued. I get my car home and the next time I take it out the battery dies and I'm stuck in the middle of traffic. Call BCAA to get it towed back here so they can deal with the same issue they were meant to deal with the previous day. They replace the battery finally and I come pick up my car. I see on the inspection report from the first day that my car failed the battery performance test and a new battery was recommended, which is the reason I brought it in in the first place, but neglected to get addressed. Ever since having my car back it will approximately once per day (I only drive it to and from work which is a 5 minute drive away) shut off when I'm stopped at a red light so I have to restart the car and occasionally disrupt traffic. Not exactly safe for me or others on the road. In summary, I brought it in for a new battery or alternator and $1000 and 2 visors later have an undriveable vehicle. Thanks BCAA.

Beautiful new shop. Seems very limited in what kind of work they can (or will) do, especially considering they just invested millions of dollars to construct it from the ground up. You would think they'd have the ability to install a tire pressure sensor, for example. Take your car to Canadian Tire. Better prices and they do more right there and then without having to send you to another shop.

We were so impressed with BCAA in nanaimo that we started bringing our car here for repair as we live in Victoria. All the staff were lovely and most of the staff here are as well except for the fellow who seems to be the main guy, Paul, his attitude and personality skills are terrible and not suitable as a front line position in customer service. We were 25 minutes late as had to get the kids to school at 9 and fill up with gas as it was empty and we live 15 minutes from the place before dropping our car off (for the whole day I might add) yet this somehow messed with their whole schedule and I arrived to a heap of attitude and that i've thrown off everything for their day. Everyone knows car shops get all the cars to come in at the start of the day so they can figure out parts (which they already had pre ordered so not needed on ours) and i am sure they cant look at all the cars at the same time 30 minutes is a reasonable window. I've had attitude from him before but let it go but this was enough for me to say im done. So i left so as not to inconvenience their schedule any further any more. Unfortunate too because we loved BCAA's service. it was just ruined by one person. Mitch on the other hand should be the main person there he knows how to treat customers.

I always have a wonderful experience at this location. Both myself and my fiancee bring our cars here for regular service, and the staff are never pushy, always super friendly, and the service is always efficient. I am particularly impressed with the experience I had there today: in the past, I've known shops and mechanics who would pressure me or even lie to me about the state of my vehicle to make sure I bought extra services or parts from them. This BCAA service location has, first of all, never done that, but, secondly, today, when I brought the vehicle in for service, I had scheduled both a transmission flush and, as my date for another oil change had come up, that as well. Within an hour they had called me and let me know that I was well under the kilometer limit for the oil change, and that my oil was clean, and there was no need for the change. In the past, I know shops that would have gone ahead and done it regardless, or even charged for the job, even if it hadn't been done. The service is always amazing, and today's experience just solidified why we keep going back. I would recommend to anyone!

My experience with BCAA started off badly- my brakes failed while I was visiting Victoria so I had the car towed to the service centre late Sunday night. Called first thing Monday morning and was assured that I was first in line and that they would get to it. Communication for the remainder of the day was like pulling teeth. By mid day Tuesday I still don't have any idea where i stand and am making plans to rent a car to get home (a long ways). Fortunately I ended up with Phil on the phone, who took control of the situation, returned my call in less than 10 minutes and got me sorted out. Such a wonderful demeanor and so helpful- now I'm a happy customer. Phil just put in that extra little effort and saved the day- thank you. I wish the rest of the staff were as helpful

We’ve been taking our car here a few years now, and referred quite a few of our friends. Honest work & service on our car, saved us a lot of $, and usually amazing customer service. Recently a staff member “Paul” was unexpectedly rude to my wife, being condescending & sarcastic both in-person and over the phone. And this is not the first time she’s experience this. I expected better from this BCAA, since everybody else there is exceedingly nice, friendly, and helpful (“Goode” is a ⭐️). But we’re considering switching to another auto service place, to avoid dealing with toxic personalities like “Paul” again. Awful, awful customer service & people skills - even by UK standards ????????????????

This place is fantastic! The staff are so nice and prices are great. I don't know tons about my car and when i went to get a basic oil change i got 10$ gas card and they did tons of other check ups on my car. I dropped in to buy windshield wipers and they installed them aswell while I had no appointment or anything. I'll always be going there for car services :)

I had my car towed at the bcaa repair shop at 712 Bay St, Victoria, BC V8T 1R2. My car is Santa Fe 2008 model 3.3lt engine, the battery light came on on the road and the alternator broke down. When I came to the repair shop they gave me an incredible price. Since my English is not good, they maliciously gave a price of 1120 CAD for this process, including parts and workshops. Canadian Tire quoted a price of 450 CAD for the same transaction. This forced him to sign under the price offer document he gave. and he deliberately said the price of serpentine belt 80 CAD, but the maximum price he received from the computer was 66 CAD. My vehicle has not been processed yet. I don't want to do this operation.

Had a great experience at this BCAA location. My Honda civic had the check engine light come on and was having problems shifting gears. Since they were booked and I couldn't get my car into the shop for a whole week and a half they offered to diagnose the car on their own time to see if it was drivable until my appointment. Long story short they both diagnosed my car and fixed it in a day in a half. Shout out to Goodie and everyone involved for their amazing service!

I drive a 2017 tuscon that has lower than 15000 km, should take it to hyundai but they told me it'll cost 200 for tire rotation, check up, and oil change. I'm a BCAA member and the person at the front greeted me and told me it makes no sense for it to cost 200 for a 12000 km check up. Took less than a hour and got to watch them work on my car. Thank you
