Great customer service and price was excellent. Drove two cars: a Corolla (South Island. Christchurch to Invercargill, Te Anau, Karamea, Picton) & a Camry (North Island. Wellington to Rotorua, Whangarei, Waipoua Kauri Forest, Auckland). Cars are older but in good condition. Never had an issue. Would rent from Omega again.

No real complaints,only a mishap with a tyre that was beyond repair. The car given to me in Auckland was in very poor condition,the tyres were practically on the threadbare. The car on the South Island was in better condition,no mishaps. The service in general was professional, I had to purchase another tyre, the money was credited on my card with no problem,turned the car in one day earlier in Wellington and the remaining day was credited on the SI car.

Our car performed very well during our 12 day trip over the South Island. We had taken it in Christchurch and could drop it off in Picton without extra cost involved. The free transport from airport to office and later from office to ferry was prompt and convenient. And on top of that the rent was the lowest I had come across during my internet search. The car was excellent. I had a slight concern over the placement of the key but it was in place when I got there. The $35 pickup and $35 drop-off fee for Blenheim Airport fee should be included in the initial fee quoted and not added later. It nearly changed my decision to hire from Omega

Staff member at Nelson airport equally great. She hopped into the vehicle to drive us to the terminal so we didn't have to transfer our bags to the shuttle. Franz Josef and the glaciers Unfortunately Milford Sounds was closed to private cars because of floods but this meant we were able to spend more time in Queenstown and Christchurch.

I could not believe how sweet and flexible Omega Picton was. They were so helpful when I picked up the car, gave us a shuttle ride to Interislander after dropping the car off (a bit late because I forgot to top up the tank, but there's a gas station next door), and were nothing but fun, funny, and helpful to deal with. Got the car with several scratch on the windscreen. During our trip a crack is appeared and Omega rental charged me of a complete new windscreen when I returned the car. NZ$404 dedected from our holiday budget, no negociation possible with them and no information about this on contract. 100% customer responsability and customer supply a new windscreen for free. This is their responsability to rent a car with no scratch and change or repair windscreen when needed. To easy for them to repair their car from customer side for free, not honest company at all.

Omega Rental Cars Picton was excellent. We were delayed due to a train detour and Alec stayed to enable us to pick up our car after hours. I know this cannot be expected at any other time. But his kindness turned a already difficult day from a possible nightmare to manageable. It saved us having to look for last minute lodgings in an area outside our destination lodging. The vehicles we were given were great - they suited our needs well, were clean and worked well. Pick-up and drop-off were easy on the North Island, less easy to drop off in Queenstown as the agency is 4 kms ($28 NZD) cab away from the airport if your flight departs before 0900hrs. Customer service was great - we contacted Omega twice in our three week trip and received prompt replies and support. I would recommend Omega as good agency to rent with.

The car was pretty good, only minor problems. One of the electric windows didn't work and the battery was pretty old and used, which led to a flat battery within one or two minutes, when the lights were not turned off immediately. Unfortunately there were no jumper cables in the car, so we had to find someone with cables, a car and time to help us out. The service is really good, I got a car in Blenheim for the next morning, although I only called in the late afternoon. The price was good as well!

I called on Wednesday morning and got a relocation deal for the next morning. I wanted to go from from Picton to Dunedin to see friends performing in a show! Kelvin gave me a great deal on insurance and also arranged another deal for me to pick up a car to relocate from Christchurch back to Picton after I flew the portion from Queenstown to Christchurch. The drive was awesome, both the SUV and car were spotlessly clean and drove extremely well. The staff at all three branches were friendly, efficient and helpful. I can totally recommend Omega and would definitely use them again. Since I only have older vehicles I was amazed at the fuel efficiency! Brilliant value for money :-) THANKS!

Booking process was simple and fast. We'd rented a Mazda Premacy for our South Island trip and it served us well despite the car didn't came in tip top condition, it had a few dents here and there but it was just aesthetic issues. I rented a car from Omega Rental Cars in Picton. I was taking the Interislander ferry from Wellington to Picton, and my arrival time in Picton was close to Omega's office closing time. So I arranged to sign my contract before picking up the car. Omega then left the car for me at the ferry station. It worked out very nicely. The car was there waiting for me. I dropped the car off in Queenstown which went very smoothly. When renting the car I had some questions about which insurance coverage I should get. Omega was very helpful in aiding me in making my decision. The entire rental process went very smoothly.

I chose Omega for our recent 3 week trip to New Zealand based on internet reviews and was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful and the service was excellent at both the pickup (Picton dock) and drop-off (Christchurch airport). The shuttle service was prompt at both locations. The car was clean and of the year and model reserved, except it was a hatchback and not a sedan, but that really wasn't a problem. We drove around the complete perimeter of the South Island and had no issues with the vehicle. I would highly recommend Omega for your trip to New Zealand.

The first car a small Mazda, had a fault with a thumping noise, loose shock absorber I thought. Returned immediately and Andy, at Picton, gave us a better vehicle. The car being a Toyota performed well. Stone chips and scratches were recorded so we had a copy as well. Pulled into Omega's office in Queenstown and Belinda checked vehicle without any fuss. We would hire from Omega again. Price was good and service friendly.

Was looking forward to another good experience after my Auckland hire. My new ride was a Toyota Camry of about 3 years old judging from the mileage; performed to expectation as well as it looked when I first set eye on it. My experience on the service this time round was a bit marred by the return in Christchurch. It started out well enough with another pickup from my lodging to get the Camry in Picton. Same prelim and was told not to worry unduly about the existing nicks on the car as I've got insurance. However, on surrendering the car in Christchurch was kept waiting as the black chap over there started to nick-pick off the check list. Was told a particular nick above the mud guard turned out to be a substantial "dent" implying my doing. If it were so, where did the original nick went as if I could miraculously dent the same spot? Caught off guard, couldn't do much but to spend the next 10 minutes haggling over whether the rest of the nicks on the body and windscreen were my doing or were hand-me-downs. It is fine if Omega do this with customers in the first place during the car collection. As it was already 4.45pm was told he couldn't drop me off for the 2.5km distance to my lodging, a 5 mins drive. Overall, I must say the cars and the service are good as my other hire at Rotorua didn't get me quite as good a ride.

Car was dependable and easy to drive. It stayed on the left side of the road the whole trip. I was so impressed that In Picton our car was parked outside of the ferry terminal ready to go. No standing in line !! Paperwork was completed in Wellington. Car return was easy also.

I've got a contract sent to me which I had to sign within 40 minutes to get my car. I was just back from a tour and had to find a printer really fast and send them a picture of it. No flexibility with the time at all. And the staff I talked with did not have a nice tone on the phone. The car was fine and we had no problem after receiving it. But this first impression wasn't a good one.

Rented a car in Picton for two days. Car was clean, and ready to go, not to mention ALOT cheaper then the other major brands. Staff were awesome, friendly and helpful as was the lady at the call centre. Nothing was too much bother. Our return ferry was cancelled and it was no problem to change the cars return time to suit. We will use Omega next time for sure.

My Omega Car Rental experience was 5 stars. Service overall at Auckland, Wellington, Picton and Christchurch was amazing, easy and clear. The staff were always very courteous and nice. I rate my experience 5 stars because they did beyond what I expect from a rental car. I had to split my rental in two different periods, for my own private insurance purposes, which meant return and picking up a new car to follow formalities. These remained only in paper and they let me proceed with the car until my final destination. As I was driving in the North and South Island they also allowed me to leave the car either at Wellington or Picton so you avoid the ferry cost. :D Tooooots recommend it and the price was great as well=)

Good communication, easy after-hours pickup from the Interislander ferry terminal in Picton, our Mazda Demio was a bit older as usual but performed perfectly. Could not fault these guys. I completed our hire agreement in a hurry and at the last minute, scanned and sent it, and only realised when Kelvin phoned and we were en-route to Wellington on Good Friday that I had omitted to sign in some important places. Kelvin (sorry if spelled incorrectly!) was patient and forgiving and got it sorted for us, despite it being a public holiday. When we next need a rental car in the South Island, I'll definitely be going back to these guys and completely recommend them. Cheerful, friendly, no-stress service.

The whole rental process was quick and smooth. They also picked us up at ferry station right away after booking, but the rental office is also close enough to walk to.

Excellent, no-fuss service. This was the second time in NZ I have used Omega. They were good the first time and were even better this time around. Nice people to deal with in Auckland, Wellington, Picton and Christchurch. The cars were really good - we had a 2017 Subaru Forester on both islands. This is the perfect car for touring NZ and I think it is a way more comfortable vehicle to drive on the winding roads than some gaudy painted van or motorhome. Our friends had a Corolla from Omega and they also said it was good to drive in the local conditions. Omega are very price competitive and the worry as a customer is that the service will not be as good as some of the more expensive rivals. This is not the case with Omega. First class, straightforward service. Will use them again on the next visit to Kiwiland!

We went with Omega to save money on our vehicle, but we definitely did not save anything. In fact, our trip probably cost us $100 or so more than it would have renting from a higher end company such as Avis or Hertz because we were given a very old and non-fuel efficient car (approx. 192,000 km on it). We were at the gas station 2-3x more often than we would have with a newer more fuel efficient car that you will likely get from most other rental companies. Furthermore, getting the rental car from Picton was a very inefficient process from having to wait for the small shuttle to the long check-out time.

Everything went well with this rental until we tried to return it. The instructions said at the Queenstown airport but there is no Omega rental site there with the other car rental companies. Even the people at the airport parking area didn't know where you were. We then checked Google maps, who gave us an address for Omega but after driving there, it turned out there was no Omega office there either. Finally we had to phone and work our way through the various phone prompts. Thankfully a human answered and we were given the right address--several kilometres from the airport. All of this while wondering if we would miss our flight since we'd wasted so much time driving around! So Omega--please get your computer geeks to correct the return address in Queenstown, and amend your written instructions!! We were about to dump your car on the street and leave the keys inside and run for our flight.

In regard to my recent car hire I am writing this review to make a complaint, a formal letter will be posted on my return to the UK to the company. Upon driving the car to Abel Tasman national park from Picton I noticed the tyres were squealing, upon examining them I saw the front nearside tyre was bald of tread on both the outer and inner circumference of the tyre, this is illegal. If I had been stopped by Police or involved in an accident the Police would have reported me for driving with a defective tyre. I returned the car to Picton and was told to find a tyre shop and get them to charge the company! I explained that I am a retired police officer and that I was not going to drive a defective car on the road and asked for a replacement tyre to be fitted or a replacement car. Eventually I was given a new car, after being told they didn't have one, but was told the car has only half a tank of petrol you need to fill it up! I argued that it wasn't my intention to return the car but to get a new tyre fitted and to get petrol I would be driving a defective vehicle on the road, even though there was a petrol station next door. Be fair, I was then told! I had no choice but to drive the car next door and fill up, this is a terrible request put on me and I am annoyed they did so The staff at Picton clearly did not do their pre hire inspection/service before handing me the car. I will not be recommending this company.

Really happy with our experience with Omega, communication was excellent from start to finish & no question went unanswered. As was the information provided by them to me, to ensure I knew local road rules etc. Everything was as they said it was. Was also cheaper to deal directly with them in NZ, than going through those online booking services here in Australia, that ‘add on’ when you buy airfares etc. The Camry we had was very well maintained mechanically, it drove like a dream. Took all those bends and mountains flawlessly even with 4 adults and a boot full of suitcases, even better it got really good mileage, and considering price of fuel in NZ, this was an important factor for me in choosing a rental car type. I will definitely be renting through Omega again next time we are in NZ. Thanks for helping make our holiday amazing and worry free.

As we didnt want to pay to take the car from North to South Island they helped us plan it so we could drop off the car and get a lift to the ferry as foot passengers from them - awesome, and much cheaper! The budget cars are old (ours had 200,000 kms on the clock) but are impecably maintained which means you get where you want to without problems. I'd definitely use them again.

Everything was great, especially the staff.. No real complaints but, a couple of suggestions. (1) Someone had cleaned the top of the dash and made it so clean it shined. Problem was that when driving into the sun, it reflected on the screen so bad I could not see very well. Had to drive around with a black fleece on the dash to stop the reflection. (2) A battery in the key fob would have been nice.

Incredible service!! We were meant to pick our car up at Nelson airport, but our flight got cancelled and we ended up having to land in Blenheim. Called up omega to see if they could help us out at all and they were so kind and helpful. They arranged for our car to be driven over to Blenheim airport for us, with no added fee. Such incredible customer service. The man we dealt with was so kind and made our experience with omega, and our trip to Nelson in general, such a memorable one.

Pick up and drop off was quick and efficient. Staff very friendly. Price was good. Car worked well. Actually the above was a comment from a previous rental experience. Things have not changed. We were met off the Wellington to Picton ferry and taken to the Omega office where a welcoming person sorted out the paper work. We were soon on our way. The AWD vehicle did us proud for our trip up the Awatere and over to Hanmer Springs - an amazing journey. So, friendly people, no problems, I will definitely use Omega again

Omega are a great rental car company. We were referred to them years ago by a Kiwi friend in Picton. In her accent we thought she said "Amigo". That is not altogether wrong as they are very friendly and easy to work with. As a small company, they sometimes close before the ferry gets to Picton. But don't let that put you off. The car was right in the ferry terminal car park with access to keys as described. We use Omega whenever they are an option.

We picked up our car at the Picton Ferry Terminal. I was a little concerned since it was offsite, but the shuttle picked us up right outside the ferry door and we received our car quickly. The Staff was great. In hind sight, I was very happy that we used Omega and it was offsite since the lines for the onsite car rentals were huge! I am sure we were driving away hours before the people with reservations with onsite car rentals. Based on our experience we used Omega again in Queenstown and again had great service.

This was an unexpected surprise for me. This is a budget car rental company but the service we received was premium. Kelvin from the Picton office was waiting for me at the station on arrival to shuttle us to their depot. The car was already prepared and although not brand new, displayed a clean appearance inside and out. It performed faultlessly. On return, the drop off was smooth and trouble free. Omega Car rentals was such a good experience with its many options of cars to rent. I hired a car one way from Auckland with a drop off in Wellington. Vehicle was better than expected and service was excellent. I hired a second vehicle from Picton to Christchurch and again the process was simple. I paid for this rental while in the USA and picked up both vehicles outside of office hours. The instructions for pick up were thorough and the drop offs were pleasant and quick with free shuttles to Ferry and Airport. I would highly recommend this car rental company for anyone travelling in New Zealand.

I booked to return the car back to the after hours depot and when I picked up the car they were suggesting to me to drop the car off a little earlier to a different depot and take a free shuttle from there to the airport. General experiences was good and I would use Omega again. Two things that could be enhanced. 1. I picked the car up from Christchurch airport. A map of the car location was provided. While helpful, 4 adults in our party had difficulty locating the car with the map. A review of the map that accounts for various exit points from within the terminal would assist. We all know the high cost hire companies threaten us with if we do not return the car with a full tank. The car tank was not full (Just below the next line on the fuel gauge) which is just frustrating. I didn't complain at the time and maybe they would have reimbursed me had I done this and given them the opportunity to address the matter. I broke the rear windscreen of the car.(I still don't know how that happened and I suspect a faulty windscreen) That said I knew from the contract I was responsible for any such damage and when I contacted the company the staff were very efficient and helpful in helping to get it sorted. lets hope the travel insurance comes through.

Great service, would recommend for your trip. I'd made the mistake of booking our car one day later and not realizing until we'd taken the ferry into Picton. We scrambled to see if we could find a different car to no avail, but we were fortunate enough that our booked vehicle with Omega was already waiting in the lot and ready to go. No problems and no hassles switching the reservation to that day, saving our trip. The depot is a short walk from the ferry, however pickups and dropoffs are arrangeable which makes it a non-issue. Our Rav-4 presented no problems on our 3 day excursion along the west coast. Friendly service and easy interactions throughout.

Be aware there is no after hours help - i arrived at the ferry terminal at 6pm (considered after hours) to find they forgot to include a toddler car seat (even though I'd confirmed it with them that day). There was no after hours help or cell phone number available so I was completely stranded and had to beg another rental company for a seat. Next time I will pay the extra and go with a more reliable company... I wouldn't have trusted that car on a long journey anyway (I only travelled 60km).

Our experience of Omega cars at Picton was very good, with helpful staff. Although the car was quite old and had a lot of dents in it, we had no problems with it so were were satisfied. On returning the car to Christchurch, we had a different experience with a woman who was not just unhelpful when we were unable to find where Omega cars was but she was snappy as it was getting nearer to closing time. A stressful situation, was made worse by her poor attitude. Despite this, I would use Omega cars again and recommend it to others.

Really happy with the deal we got here which was over $400 less than the next lowest quote for the same car over 6 days, and had pick up and drop off option at Blenheim airport for only an additional $35. Great communication and friendly 'hands-off' service, no time wasted filling out paperwork just picked it up and away we went, same on return. Competitive insurance options too. I did not return a search result for this company by Googling however, I heard about them word of mouth.

I booked a car from home, and when I arrived in Picton, it was already after hours, (8pm) and the car was waiting for me, just like they told me. I had a beautiful trip in the south island, we made over than 300km and not a single problem. Before returning the car, we made a litte change in our trip route, and I asked them if I can leave the car in Nelson instead. Again, they where so kind and let me do it. Even when I called them after hours again. Great service! Friendly and cheap. Best option no doubt.

I picked up my car in Picton after the office had closed and had no issue at all finding it. The drop off in Queenstown was just as smooth and easy with a convenient shuttle to the airport as well. My emails were replied to promptly and the car I hired was well looked after and perfectly clean. This was by far the cheapest rental company I could find, but also had many pick up and drop off points (with no one way fee!) which was my initial reason for choosing them. I would 100% hire with Omega again and have already recommended them to others.

Omega is a great company to deal with we booked the car on line from Vancouver, Canada. They emailed me all the paper work and filled it out and sent back. I had a couple of questions about where to pick up as office would be closed when we arrived on the ferry from Wellington to Picton.They gave me clear instructions on where to get the car. Called when on ferry and they were very pleasant to talk to and went over the instructions again to refresh and all went well Car was well maintained and in good condition. We drove from Picton to Nelson then down the east coast to Invercargill then up to Queenstown over a 16 day tour. Car worked flawlessly and was great on fuel. I spent 15 to 20 minutes learning the car and all its functions. This was time well spent as when you start driving you are not trying to figure things out and can consentrate on the road. Just a note as well as I was driving on the left side of road for the first time so I went on line and found some really good sites that gave you some driving simulations and tips that really helped out I will be booking with Omega from now on when ever available.

Omega was great from start to finish. I booked my car online and received prompt emails letting me know how to go about after hours pickup since we were coming in on the ferry. I called to get details of my car and where to find it. The rental car lot is at the end of following the blue line, simple, and they even emailed me a map of where to look for it in the lot. Rental cars are not cheap but the price was reasonable and the car was in good shape. I would definitely book with Omega again.

There are things I really like about Omega mainly how easy the process is however I was very disappointed in the $70 extra charged for airport pick up/drop off. I’m sure a selling point of omega was no hidden costs yet although I initially put the airport as pick up/drop off the fee wasn’t included until the end (without me noticing) and I would have looked around if I had known especially considering my hirage was only for 2days so $70 was a big chunk of the total cost!
