Firstly and most importantly, the bill was $150 more than the website estimated. $150 overcharged! On top of that, they refused to give me my AAA discount because I didn't jump through the correct hoops during the booking process, even though I had the AAA card on me, two separate employees verified it, and the woman at customer service confirmed that I was eligible for the discount, the company still refused to give me the discount. The line was at least 50 people long at all times, yet the company chose to have only one person at the front desk, screwing over both the customers and the employee working. I scheduled a pickup at 10 am. I arrived at the counter at 10:30, 30 minutes after the car was supposed to be ready, and after I checked in, I still had to wait two full hours to get into the vehicle. The pickup was scheduled for 10 and I didn't get into the vehicle until 12:30. They were 2 and a half hours late. On top of ALL of that, they didn't even have the car I reserved. 2 and a half hours late and they still couldn't even give me the car I reserved, so they switched me from a Ford Focus to a Toyota Corolla last minute just to give me any vehicle and get me out the door. I'm not even mad about getting a Corolla, I'm mad that the company was so incompetent they couldn't even keep track of the Focus I reserved. I'm never using Hertz again
Hour long wait only to get to the front to be told we have to wait even more because they are out of all small cars even though we reserved days beforehand.
Had a bait and switch. After asking for a larger car and we changed out, the renting location changed our return location and when we got to the original scheduled destination, we found a higher charge. still waiting for area manager to call
I had an excellent experience at this location. The wait time was a little taxing, but you realize that this is because they do take thorough care of you. I definitely recommend buying beforehand which has made check in and getting out extremely smooth.

Understaffed front desk, efficient car return staff.
Vehicle was ready on-time as I am a Gold Plus Rewards Member. However, I was incorrectly billed and it took over 30 minutes after returning the vehicle to get the appropriate adjustments made. This location NEVER answers their phone for assistance as this was my second consecutive time that they changed my rental rate without my knowledge and had to provide proof of my rate on my initial email reservation confirmation. I had corporate office attempt to make contact with this location and they also could not get them to answer their phone. Anytime you rent here, SAVE your original confirmations should they change your rate. They tried to charge me nearly $400 when my rate booked was $180! Luckily the customer service representative at the main counter was very courteous and helpful to me to get the adjustments made.

Slowest Hertz ever
Just picked up a car here. Initially picked up a car at a different site, but car smelled like smoke and this was the only local Hertz with an AWD car. Muhammad was polite, pleasant, helpful and got us into a very clean car. Will book at this site in the future
Hertz, I turned my car in and dropped the keys off in the drop box couple days ago, and still haven’t received a receipt? And there’s no record online either? All the phones are busy and no one picks up. Please contact me
This April, I rented car from here. They gave me car that smelled bad. It felt like a baby had vomited in the car.
I will not be renting from hertz again.
HORRIFIC. DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ. They have affordable prices because weeks after you rent you will see a charge from a rental toll for hundreds of dollars. I took the New York State Thruway two times and paid cash (less than $3 total) and took the bridge to get over to Niagara falls (also paid cash) and I got slapped with over $280 worth of toll fees from Hertz. RIP OFF. I will never again rent from Hertz. Piece of garbage company. They also do not let you know of this charge and it will just show up on your card. I had to cancel my card because of this. If I could give zero stars I would. They also did not have my type of car available that I reserved. They ended up giving me a smaller car that was absolutely awful instead of upgrading me.
Fairly standard rental car location at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The main office is located across the arrivals-level roadway from the main terminal. The Hertz Gold Counter is located in the bottom level of the attached parking garage. Service is friendly, but can be slow at times, especially in the busy summer months.
Was charged two large amounts for ONE rental, noone is answering the phone-they keep hanging up and the 800 number customer service is closed over the weekend. Not acceptable.
Worst experience ever. Denied my interim licences, and wanted to charge me 32 extra dollars a day because I am renting a car under the age of 25. This is age discrimination. They dont accept that interim licences are a legal document indicating the true date the liscence expires. They need a change of management, a manager was not on duty at 2 in the afternoon. Hertz should be ashamed of themselves. Not true Buffalo hospitality.

(Rental dates: 4/3-5/17) The vehicle I was renting originally had a dead battery on it's third day. So I called Hertz's Roadside Assistance, and AAA was sent out to jump-start the car's battery. The agent over the phone informed me that I could bring the current vehicle back to Hertz and exchange it for a new one. The Hertz agent did not informed me that it had to be refuel upon returning. When I returned the vehicle to Hertz facility at Buffalo/Niagara International Airport I informed the agent what had happened earlier and that I did not have the chance to refill the vehicle's gas tank to full. They informed me that it was okay since I am exchanging to another vehicle. However, at the end of my rental when I retuned the vehicle back to Hertz I was charged with refueling & other service charges and was not informed by the counter agent of this when I exchanged the vehicle. The charges were much higher than my original contract. So I informed the counter agent (Mr. Merneptah) what had happened, and he was kind enough to waived the refueling & other service charges after he made a few phone calls. He went above and beyond his duty to assist customer. Hertz facility at Buffalo/Niagara International Airport is superb at taking care of their customers.
I'm still currently standing in line at this Hertz location for 30 minutes now. One employee declared he was doing his paperwork so he could leave, so the only other employee will take care of us. In the 30 minutes I've been standing here that gentleman has taken care of 2 customers. There are 6 customers in front of me in line. And no skipping the line if you're gold or president's circle, you must go to the counter.

This is the only Hertz I've ever been to that doesn't have a display for Gold members. You still have to wait in the endless line just for the one guy behind the desk to tell you which spot your car is in. I've NEVER had a worse experience at a Hertz location anywhere.
OMG I'm not usually one to be like "I have status with this company and I was not treated as such" but seriously. This airport hertz doesn't allow you to go straight to the president's circle and drive off; you have to get your keys from the counter. That's fine. I go to the gold member line and wait for the very slow counter service meanwhile a couple arrives after me and goes to the regular line and gets helped before me!! Then another group gets helped again before me. And not even apology. This is my second experience at this location and my first want good either. I can't wait until I receive the survey email for this place.
If I could give zeros stars I would. My reservation was for 11 am because my flight was due to land around 1045 am and I wanted to have a little wiggle room to make sure they didn't give my car away if I didn't get there by my reservation time. That was not a problem because I arrived at the counter before 11 am to pick up my car, there was a long line going out the door and they only had one person working the counter. When I got up to the counter they told me they would call me back up when my vehicle was READY... I got called back up more than 45 minutes later. I signed declining additional insurance coverage and then I received an email saying I agreed to prepaid fuel for an additional charge of almost $75. I called the day before the rental was due to tell them I didn't want to prepay for gas and that I would return it full. The guy I talked to on the phone said he removed the charges and that I just needed to bring the car back on full. He also told me that because I prepaid for the vehicle reservation already there was no compensation I could be given for Hertz not having my car ready on time. I tried calling Hertz today ( I returned the car yesterday) to ask them why I was still being charged for the prepaid fuel and they said I signed a contract agreeing to pay that charge and there was nothing they could do because it was prepaid. She then told me she could transfer me to customer service to ask about compensation for the car not being ready on time and I was left on hold for an hour then an automatic message came on saying my call couldn't be answered, there was a busy signal and the phone disconnected. This experience makes me never want to use Hertz again. I've been using Hertz locally for years and I've NEVER had these kinds of problems. The people weren't rude, they just weren't helpful. I'll never rent from the Buffalo Airport location again and I suggest no one else does either.

Had a great experience with a particular agent at Hertz at the Buffalo Airport this weekend. The guy working Thursday night (well past the advertised 12:30am closing time) deserves all the credit. There was a pretty decent line when I arrived. They should have had at least another person working the desk, but they did not. Needless to say, the guy working the desk (I didn't get his name) was not in a great mood, but he didn't take it out on the customers. He was probably the most efficient rental desk agent I've ever dealt with. He moved through the regular line quickly, got the Gold members in and out fast, and even managed to answer the phone a few times. Although Hertz management basically tried to hang their customers and their employee out to dry, this employee made the best of what was not an ideal situation. Really, this review is for that guy. I'm probably being too kind to the actual Hertz branch. Oh well, car was fine and early drop-off was easy. Phone-based communication earlier in the day (I was worried about them closing before my flight arrived) was in vain.

Ridiculously long line because the service is super slow. I had to wait in line for 45 minutes when there are only 3 people in front of me. They also served the gold member first, so other three people were served before me. Would not use this service again.
There are some dishonest people working in this office. I am a gold status member with Hertz but will be cancelling my membership. Here's what happened: I contacted Hertz to let them know I would be back on Sunday, March 11th, to pick up an item I had left there on Friday, March 9th, 2018. I gave them my name and contact information. Any company worth their salt would have mailed it back to my home address. Instead, by the time I got back on Sunday, the item was missing, and the employees gave me the run-around until I gave up my inquiry. My advice for anyone forced to use Hertz at the Buffalo, NY airport: don't accidentally leave anything in the car or at the desk. You won't get it back!
Showed up and the kiosk was closed. Staff left early for the day... Had to rent from avis instead. Would not recommend.
No problems picking up or dropping off the car EXCEPT (two reasons for 4 stars instead of 5): Could not reach a local Hertz office via phone to ask a question (could we return to a different location which in the end didn't matter) and when we returned the car, they insisted on the customer presenting the original contract, which I have never had to do when renting a car. Fortunately we had ours with us but another unfortuate customer did not. That should not be a requirement unless the customer is told at the time of pick-up. The car was satisfactory, got great mileage, was what we requested, was ready on time. Be advised the Buffalo airport car rental counters are crazy busy much of the time. They are directly across the street from baggage claim. Also the gentleman who checked out the car to us was in dire need of using a tissue for his runny nose . . . not pleasant to listen to someone sniff every 5 seconds.

HORRIBLE! We were among 44 people that Hertz oversold their vehicles to. And all they could say was "sorry". Then we were among 44 people who had to take a $70 flat rate taxi to go anywhere in Niagara area. Worst customer service, ever. I wish I could give them "0" stars!
Easy to pick up car and get out of airport. Nice to be close to the terminal and not have to ride a bus. Car was fine.
Monday at noon six families/couples waited over an hour each. "We have cars, but they are not ready." Planning? Good weather weekend, no flight delays... a normal summer Monday. Meanwhile other patrons walked up and were on their way. When I asked about this "They likely had a different class of car reserved " to which I responded "I'll take whatever you've got " and I finally was helped. Pleasant enough agents but they seemed to be stymied by things in the background. Just passed the counter Wednesday at 2 pm and folks are lined up again.

There is terrible management of the airport office. There's only one guy operating both Hertz and Dollar, and people have to wait 2.5+ hours to get a car. I can't get mad at the guy, but management needs to step up and be able to provide the resources to support an airport car rental facility especially on long weekends!
Customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. I am in the army and was travelling to Buffalo for a training event. I pre booked online, therefore I prepaid. When I got to the counter at Buffalo Niagara Airport, I was told I could not deny additional coverage on the vehicle. I rent a car one a month and I know that this is false. My personal insurance has rental coverage. The man would not let me have the car until I agreed on a coverage option. I was charged a ridiculous amount for a 4 day rental. I had to call billing 3 different times to try and fix all these charges, which have still not been resolved. The customer service sucks and I will NEVER rent through HERTZ again, they treat their customers and Veterans very unprofessionally.

I love Hertz! I've rented multiple vehicles from them and have had a great experience every time. I've also bought an SUV from them. I must say, their buying experience is even more seem less than renting. Vehicles come with a 12 month warranty.

Was it a nice car? Sure. The service at this location is terrible. What's my favorite thing about #1 Club Gold? You walk past the counter, up to the board that has your name on it, get in the car and go. Buffalo? Stand in line. 3 people at the counter, 10+ people in line, and it took positively forever to get through the line. No idea why they're so slow. Rented a Full Size. They wanted to give me a minivan. Ask them to put me in the class of car I rented to start with. Finally, out the door after 30 minutes waiting. Returned the car the next day, having filled it up on my way back to the airport (only a few $$ of gas). They slipped in a $14 charge for refueling, since I didn't give them a receipt for the gas I put in the car. Called back to the counter at the airport, they wouldn't do anything to fix the issue they created, suggesting I call their billing department. First call to billing landed me with a nice-sounding woman who said she was taking care of it. She didn't do a thing. Next day, second call got me someone else who said she would take care of it, and it would take 3-5 business days to get my money back. Holding $14 of my money for a week because of their own screw ups? Bad, just bad. "Gold" service at this location is more like "rusted through steel" service.
Where to start. It took 3 phone calls to actually get someone to answer the phone. When they did, a guy answered "hello". Not indicating that it was Hertz or anyone else for that matter. Explaining to him that I just dropped off a passenger that just rented a vehicle from this location, left a personal belonging in my car. I did not have the persons number and was willing to leave my number to call him to make arrangements to get this item. The response I got was, "I'm a little busy and already multi tasking". He put me on hold. I am currently still waiting for him to pick up the line 1 hour and 21 minutes and counting! Nice customer service.
After waiting 45 minutes in line, because they have one person available, I was told the online itinerary cannot be honored because I'm using a debit card and they only take credit cards. Nowhere online said this. No one I talked with on the phone said this. My team and I have now missed our meeting.
It was quicker for me to fly to Buffalo than it was to wait for a car. I really don’t understand how renting a car is so difficult?! Shouldn’t they know where their inventory is and when they should have it? Poor management. Slow service.
Pick-up and drop off at Buffalo Airport. We had a reservation and it still took a bit of time to do all the paperwork. Also, there was a mix-up for the driver of the vehicle. I was told that instead of changing the name, from me to my husband, I could just add him for $3 per day. Uh, Nope. I was not driving - or paying for that - so change it please. Then we were told to sit and wait again until they got a car for us. So we sat ... with quite a few other weary travelers. Finally we were sent downstairs and that was quicker. Noticed a burn hole in passenger front seat after we left but it was under an hour so called 800 number. (Plus neither of us smoke) I told them all this and was given a reference number for the incident and call. The return went better. My husband dropped me and our luggage at our airline dropoff and went to return the car. I didn't give him all the correct paperwork but the attendant was able to pull up all our info from the reservation number. The attendant checked the car over and ....all done and he was on his way.
Car wasn't ready - they wanted to charge me for a more expensive car even though the car wasn't ready after I had reserved it for a start time. I had also requested NeverLost but they also didn't have that (unless I wanted to wait potentially missing a business meeting for a car with neverlost. Then, icing on the cake, Buffalo isn't a "tollpass city" however, some of the toll roads don't allow you to pay cash (something Hertz didn't bother to tell me) so I recived a tolld violation with a $8.5 processing fee.
Had a reservation. Despite this, myself and three people in front of me have been waiting 1-2 hours and counting for a vehicle. There are a handful of other Hertz locations within 5 miles. How do they just not have enough cars? Disappointed and will not be booking with Hertz in the future.

We had a terrible experience at the Hertz Buffalo airport location. I have gold status and rent from Hertz because it is typically an easy experience. At 6pm on a Friday of a holiday weekend, the kiosk had just closed. The guys closing up the kiosk said they had just taken the keys upstairs and directed us to upstairs. There were at least 50 people in line, but they told me to just tell the desk agent I had gold status and would be given the keys. I went upstairs and did that and the agent directed me to get in the line. I called Hertz and was told I did t need to wait in line. They tried to reach the location, but of course, they couldn’t reach anyone. The line was so ridiculous that the crowd cheered each time someone was awarded a set of keys. Worst was that there was no manager to speak with, the agent was completely apathetic and no one as communicating to the customers about what was going on. After waiting for an hour and a half and my husband forging through the crowd, he emerged with a set of keys. I do t think the car was what we reserved and it was scratched up, but we didn’t care. We missed our dinner plans with family. What a disaster.
Terrible service. We had a relevant issue with our car, but the employees at the office didn't really take care of it. They couldn't even speak at the phone with the Hertz central office to help us with our issue. We had to "solve" the problem ourselves, while the employees were looking at us. No substitution car, no help from employees, bad phone service from the company. Keep distance from this company.
I'm so glad I could still pick up my car without issue, considering my flight got delayed 2 hrs. I was scheduled to get a Chevy Spark and got a Nissan Versa instead. Great car and customer service though. Only issue I had with it being super new - and not a type of car I'm used to driving - was I accidentally pushed a button near the gear shift and locked the car in neutral. Fortunately, I got it figured out without needing to call for help. I still don't understand why they'd make a button like that, lol.

The service is friendly. The big problem with Hertz is they are grossly understaffed. I do not recommend booking a rental with them if you are not wanting to wait up to 2 hours as they will only have 1 staff working at a time. I would recommend National or Enterprise if your time is important to you.

was a good experience except the car needs birds eyes on the rear mirrors as there are major blind spots which could and almost did cause an accident driving on the road
The car I reserved was not available and I was driven to another location to pick up. When I got there the first car I was given was not useable (Frozen, could not be driven). Upon returning the car the next day I was told by an attendant that they could not generate a receipt, and that I would have to go on their website to get it. It's now two weeks later and I just received a notice from Hertz that they think I never returned my car, and they have charged my card $442 for a 1 day rental. From what I have been told someone else rented the car and returned it a week later, but when they scanned the return they closed out my account instead of the next renter.

Preemptively reviewing them while on line. Unfortunately, after my last experience with Hertz in Orlando, I swore them off completely. However, I had to use them again for work. Literally been on line for longer than my flight lasted already, and only 2-3 people have been helped so far. Line is at least 25 people long, and they only have one person working. I had a reservation for 10:30, and multiple meetings today, unfortunately that apparently isn’t happening.
While i am wiring this review im currently sitting here for 2hrs. just to wait for the car even i already booked for 2weeks ahead everybody here is w aiting the same duration as mine so frustrating they said they don't have the car we just have to wait bad bad customer service of course they dont care. The staff wasn't helpful, they only gave me partial information. Then when i ended up getting a refund they tell me its going to take 10 days?!?! Will never use Hertz again..

"This is my second experience in last 3 months at Buffalo airport. The car was not available when I reached the Hertz Counter. ( As promised by Hertz to Gold Memeber, it should be raedy!!) I got my car after 30 minutes and on top of it, the car was smelling with cigrate smoke. Since there were no more cars available, I had no choice but to take that car. The car was almost 48,000 Mile old. Very noisey on the highway!! On My last trip to Buffalo also I was given a mid size car although request was for Full size car!!! and that too with a very rude behaviour from the agent saying that this is the way Travelling Industry is now moving!!!! So I will recommend Hertz to anyone only if they have no other choice!! Like us where our company expects us to us to rent a car thro' Hertz!!!!"

My wife left a bag in the car on accident. Ten minutes later when we returned the attendant had stolen all the money out of her wallet. There is no claims process. It is a tough pill to swallow when you know who robbed you and one has no recourse for a claim. insurance gave me the run around, employees gave me the run around, airport police gave me the run around. Shame on Hertz Buffalo.

Our flighht was delayed getting into Buffalo airport. Sales person was prompt in getting the paper work done quickly. The car I had reserved was not available, instead i got a bigger vehical, that was excellent. Drove from Buffalo to New York city to Washington DC without any problem. This vehical has lots of luggage space.

Worst rental car service ever. The staff is all careless and people are waiting in line and they have no focus on their work. It’s Dollar and Hertz together and try to avoid it in case you can get other rental. I would rather pay a little more than going through this again.
My flight arrived on time and reserved a car at the appropriate time. When I arrived at the front desk Hertz did not have a car for me to use and attempted to upsell on cars I didn't even want. Very disappointed.
I would not recommend the hertz at buffalo NY. To be fair, my initial experience was not bad;however, a month after my trip/return of the vehicle, I’ve been charged 2x more times by Hertz. I called the hertz at buffalo NY and due to limited access to their system since my rental was a month previous, they could not help me. I called the customer service number provided and they couldn’t locate my information. Very weird because my car rental was paid for from my card and it was the card being charged unnecessarily. I called back hertz at buffalo NY and spoke with Muhammad who was very rude. He placed me on hold stating, “I have a customer”...am I not a customer also? Muhammad, never came back to me on the phone. I was on hold for 33 mins. I took a snapshot of my phone also. After 33 mins, I called back and Muhammad answered the phone again. I asked, “did you forget that you had a “customer” on the phone?”. He cared less. I requested a manager and I have yet to receive a call back. So, would I recommend hertz at buffalo NY...absolutely not. In fact, I may never use another hertz company due to this experience.
How are you still in business? Every time I fly here it's the same story. Not enough employees and a huge line. Super slow to get a car. The gold desk in the garage is never staffed and always closed. This location leaves a big stain on the hertz brand

Horable, reserved a full-size SUV seven passenger gave me keys to a "Kia" tried to up charge me because I could they did not have another seven passenger vehicle besides a Ford expedition at double the rate they offered a partial refund. Which never happened. Stay away from this location you will get a huge run-a-round. Buyer be warned
called to get details about truck unloading for their vehicles and the guy just kept saying i dont know and was extremely rude.... then when I asked for a manager he said no one was there and heard him talking to someone in the background. I said there's no one else there with you? and he said no. I said who did you just talk to in the background? he said my coworker.... I said can I talk to them please? and he was talking to them in the background and said "this lady is crazy". meanwhile there is no manager on site and when we called back, got the same guy again and he immediately hung up on us.
Horrible customer service. I have been calling for the past two days an average of 5-7 times a day with rarely any pickup by an agent. When someone answered I was left on hold for 5 minutes.

After a typical every-flight-through-OHare-is-delayed July travel day, this branch stayed open for us to get our car. We arrived around 230am and Muhammed happily helped us with our reservation and ensured that we were happy with our car. Muhammed gave an otherwise awful travel day a very happy ending and we can't thank him enough!
There is no use at all to make online reservation, the counter staff told me they are out off car even there is a confirmed reservation. Lesson learnt! don’t ever trust hertz because they will ruin your trip
First off we couldn’t get into contact with a live person the locations said book online…so we did just to get told we can’t use a debit card upon pick up unless we got a flight yet the money was already taking and had a confirmation, customer service was terrible and now I’m out of $100 because they have no one to answer phones yet they found a number for us to call for them to take the fee never again
Probably the worst Hertz in whole of America. The employees are exceptionally inconsiderate people. I'm a traveling consultant so I fly into Buffalo every week. Each week they come up with innovative ways to mess with me. I don't even want to explain because there are so many instances. Take any other rental car service.
The only reason this is getting a 2 is because the drop off guy was so nice and it was a painless process. Let me start by saying, the majority of this is aimed at the Hertz in Niagara , New York, not the Buffalo Airport Hertz. Each time I tried calling the Hertz in Buffalo, the phone just rang. The Hertz location itself was an absolute dive. The guy that helped me with the car pick up was nice but it irritated me that I had called about 20 mins before I'd arrived(he didn't pick up), when I arrived the office was dead and he made a comment that made me think it'd been a quiet afternoon. The second time I called, the following day, again, just rang. Wound up calling the main Hertz number and talking to someone who didn't have a great grasp on English. Asked to be transfered after the guy kept not understanding what I was calling about (i.e.: whether or not the toll sticker (Ezpass) was active or if I needed to pay the toll). Gave up after being on hold for about 6 mins with no one answering, again. The car was fine, the outside was a bit dirty but inside was nice. The customer service could use some improvement.
Picking up the car was super slow, but the two gentlemen who helped me carry all of my luggage upstairs and inside to the check in counter more than made up for it. I traveled alone with my 15 month old son, so we had a TON of luggage.
Nice car. Had to wait in line to get the keys as there was no separate arrangement for Platinum card holders but the return was very good. Easy walk from terminal to rental cars. Good overall experience.

Slowest one man show ever
We had a prepaid reservation with pickup an hour ago. Still waiting for the car!! Frustrating.. I understand if I was a walk up customer but they knew I was coming. After a long flight, the kids were getting restless and just wanted to get to the hotel already. The gentleman at the front was very professional and understanding and offered a discount for in the inconvenience. There is no price to children being simply exhausted. The administration needs to have backup options in cases the cars are ready at the time promised.

Waiting here for about 3 hours for a rental car booked online. There are no representatives at the counter. And the lines are only getting bigger. Very bad experience. Don’t ever book Hertz they don’t honor the online reservation.

We visited this location for picking up the car ata round 3/3:30 on Friday, aug 28, 2020. For an additional driver to be added we went to the Buffalo airport location. The representative there named, David was very kind and a direct opposite to our afternoon experience. He was very patient and answered all our questions with clarity. Would highly recommend him. Super friendly and nice.
What a big liar the manager is!!!! Charged me fuel surcharge even after filled up the gas in full. Surprised me when he said he cannot connect me to customer service number because they don't have a option . No three way call option to address my issue and he can't or refund the extra charges he charged on my credit card because I called the day after the rental return, but charges showed up on my card next day!!! And I called them right away .
Got the good old run around from this outfit !! Called them, said to pick up car on Genesee St. Got there, they said return to airport, rental returns. Got there, they said it's on upper level !! Bogus !!

Very happy with my experience as a first time renter. They gave me a car that fit my request (I like Japanese and Korean makes) and were swift and nice when picking up and dropping off.

A horrible experience. Hertz was the only rental car company with a line out the door - they oversold and didn't have cars ready or they were understaffed and didn't have clean cars. After a long full day flight we ended up waiting an hour and a half in a HERTZ line with 20 people ahead of us and people who were actually on a waiting list for a car to become available. The workers were so rude - and frustrated I'm sure because management put them in the position. Save yourself the headache and go to a different car rental company. I've NEVER had a car rental experience like that in any other city.

I rent from this location about 7 times a year when traveling home to see my family. In the past they have always waited until the flights associated with their reservations arrive before closing for the night. This time they didn't. So at 1:00 am (the same time I got in 3 weeks ago) I was left at the airport without a car or a carseat (I was traveling with my 5 month old son and normally rent the seat through Hertz). The customer service individual I spoke with said they are supposed to stay until their reservations arrive or the flight is canceled but, said there was nothing they could do until 5:30 am. So we had to wait, worst experience ever. My son lost it and we got no sleep. Don't rent from them. I'd give a 0 star rating if I could.
Very convenient location across from baggage claim, but not so convenient to rent a car from this location, waited 2 hours to get to counter and they didn't even have the full size car which I reserved couple of weeks ago, ended up getting small suv. Even though there was a waiting line for check in; it took less than 30 minutes to get checked in. Friendly service! Easy access to pick up car; as well as easy to check in return car. The rental car was what I requested ; nice and clean. There were no extra charges on credit card. Reasonable rental rate; good value.
If I could leave negative stars I would. We were stranded at an airport in NJ with a cancelled flight so we rented a car to make the 6 hr drive home. 1.5 hours into our drive we got a flat tire. There was no spare in the back of the car and the pump was useless. AAA came after 2 hours of us sitting on a dark highway at 2am. We had to be towed all the way to Buffalo because the only options we were given by Hertz was to go back to NJ for another car or wait for a Hertz 2 hrs away to open at 9AM! Upon arrival to Buffalo to return the car, we were told we would receive nothing but $65 in Hertz credit even tho we paid $350.00 for less than 12 hours for a rental car that we only drove less than 100 miles. 0/10 recommend this. They did nothing to try to satisfy a paying customer who was in a pinch and given a car that didn't operate properly.

The staff at the counter was friendly, but the car I received was really bad. First, it was over 45,000 miles, which is okay because cars work at 45000 miles. The worse thing was that the car was really dirty. There was a lot of animal hairs inside the car and it smelled so much. And there were many stains on the glass.
I returned a car with full tank. Was billed to fill a tank at over $9 per tank. Calling local office and contacting national site does no good. $90 down the drain.

There was no one to check me in when I arrived to drop the car about 5:30 AM for a 7 AM flight and I was charged a fuel surcharge on my credit card for a car that was full of gas.
My vehicle was a Ford Fusion and it was extremely clean and comfortable. My check out person made the day as she was extremely personable. I walked away with a smile on my face and said to myself this was a great rental week.

Experience was OK. With the exception of final billing. Typically with Hertz, when you sign on as a Gold member and receive the estimate rental cost at the time you reserve the car you can depend upon all fees being already added to the overall rental costs. Not so at Buffalo airport. Surprise, Surprise of the rather costly "additional fees" at Buffalo being shown "after rental".

I had a reservation and when I arrived for pickup at the scheduled time they told me I had to wait for the car, when I asked for the approximate wait time they said they don't know if it's going to be couple minutes or couple hours... What added salt to the wound is the person behind the counter had an attitude when I asked about the wait time!!!!? The place wasn't even busy so I don't understand how they don't have cars.

My wife and I rented a vehicle back in July of 2021 after getting off a plane in the Buffalo/Niagara International Airport. We had an amazing experience with one of your representatives, Aiesha. We were in an emotional state due to the passing of a relative and she took amazing care of us to make sure we got a vehicle that suited our needs and our budget for our trip. She truly helped us when we needed it most going above and beyond. We would also like to note she had incredible customer service despite having a rush, and a few disrespectful and rude customers.
Over all it was very good. However I say this only after the manager had to step in. I inacted with two sets of staff one set upstairs and one in the garage. The set in the garage we two of the rudest, most unprofessional employees of a customer service based company I have ever come in contact in my 51 years! However the two employees whom attempted to do everything they could not only to help me but make up for their co-workers unprofessional behavior. They were attentive, understanding, compassionate, and extremely helpful all around the board. Several hours after leaving the airport in Buffalo I spoke with the manager who not only understood my issues but delt with them promptly, therefore because of his actions , and the professional treatment but the counter staff upstairs, I do give it four stars and will rent from Hertz again.

I don't understand these negative reviews at all. I got a fantastic rate and even an upgrade, the agent at the desk was very friendly and there were less than five minutes between me entering the rental desk area and sitting in the car. The return was as easy and convenient as it gets. I'm looking forward to booking at this Hertz again.
Rented a very nice car, clean, new, staff were very friendly. Reservation was easy to make by phone. what make Hertz unique is that they keep records of their customers, and knows the customer requirement, so I don't keep repeating my reference every time I rent a car.
I didn't got a receipt. And they charge me almost 100 dollars. When they said it's wrong. They only agree to return 40. But the actual cost is 21. It is not a good experience!

Process is not their forte. Was delayed the first day and arrived next morning. Did everything a President's Circle Gold Member would normally do including calling to change the reservation and to make sure that they don't charge me twice, but guess what - two holds on my account totaling almost 1,000 for a $173 rental. Called to get hold removed and was told it was released, but after 4 days no release and credit hold still in place. Watch your back they don't have an issue with duplicate charges and their number does not work or take messages. Hertz gold seems to be a little tarnished in Buffalo

Horrifically understaffed and disorganized
Very horrible experience. Zero ratings. This place deserves no stars. I rented a suburban from them. First of all the vehicle was not even clean. But the most upsetting part is I turned this vehicle in with the needle barely above the F (full level) and was hit with $117 fuel charge. Never again will I rent from this location and every chance I get to explain my horrible experience I will. Customer service was very rude. Very argumentative. Talking over me. Very disrespectful. I was basically told that I was hit with a $78 fuel charge for what was less than a quarter tank of gas, for a fee of $9.99 per gallon because this included a service fee. Than on top of that I was charged an additional $50.85 service fee. Absolutely ridiculous. Robbery. Never again.
The service at checkout was quite good. The car however was not so good. It had transmission issues but because it was picked up in Buffalo and returned in Rochester, there was never time to switch cars. I assumed Hertz has some sort of quality check but not this time. On the other hand, I rent a lot of Hertz cars and almost always things go very well.
Didn't get the vehicle that I booked and paid for. I had to settle with what was available since none of the mini vans had returned. The staff was not able to give any idea how long the wait would be. First they gave us a Chevy Tahoe instead of the mini van. Since that was not as fuel efficient as a mini van we settled with a Buick Enclave. The enclave was not as convenient as a mini van with sliding doors as we have younger children. This was my first rental ever with Hertz since started driving 25 years ago. For rental of two weeks we simply had to settle with a Enclave instead of a mini van since we couldn't wait indefinitely at the airport.
Lines out the door, waited for 2 hours, and that was with a reservation. After getting through the line, was told to wait to be called. Clear to everyone they overbooked but kept saying the cars were here, just needed "cleaning."
Do NOT rent here. These guys are scam artists. This is the second time I’ve returned a vehicle with a full tank and they indicated on the receipt it was 7/8. If you fill up, take a picture of the odometer and tank. AWFUL!

I wish I could give this location ZERO stars. They are by far the worst rental company at this airport. I stopped using them because every time I have a reservation the car is NOT ready. They offered me a lower grade car, which I accepted and it was not the car she had told me it would be driving, and it was FILTHY!! Their employees are rude, and do not care. Rented at Buffalo airport and return the car there after 1000 miles and a 2 week rental. The agents were excellent, and the car ran fine. I'll be renting again very soon.
The rental location is right across baggage terminal making it super convenient to get to. However, there have been extremely long lines (about 1 hr) both times I have rented from here. Staff is understaffed but friendly; there is never a manager on site. When traveling visitors should not have to wait an hour to get into a car when the reservation is made.

The car pick up and car itself were fine. However, we had planned to drop off the car before the airport location opened and when I arrived, there was a guy with a Hertz cap and shirt taking keys and saying they would email receipts. I got concerned that the guy might not have worked for Hertz and tired repeatedly to call the Buffalo location to verify that the car had been logged in. They never answered the phone. I tried the Hertz general number and they said call the site. I asked to speak with a manager, and none was available. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced with a rental car. Everything turned out OK.
The staff at the counter were very nice but something has to be wrong with the management. We scheduled a reservation a few months in advance for 10:30 am, our flight arrive at 12:00, we were still waiting at 1:45 for a rental car. They told us they had no cars. Strangely enough all the other rental companies seemed to have no problems. We asked for an upgrade and they said they didn’t have any. So we waited another 30 minutes and asked if we paid for an upgrade, (after we overhead a guy book a mini van same day and had no problem) and they said yes. We paid an extra $160.00 for a mini van. Seems a little suspect and a way to get you to pay more.

They really made a mess of a rental. Should have been 10 minutes and out but it's been 2 hours so far.
Terrible service. Arrived at 610 pm, guy rushed us out the door as they were closing. No proper drop off procedures followed. He grabbed the keys as we unloaded our belongings, car was left unlocked at his suggestion!!!. Staff guy ran inside and locked the doors. Received a bill the next day for an extra 400 dollars smoking fee!!!! We do not smoke. Never again. Filing formal complaint. Watch out for these guys.
No – it was not a good rental. We had booked a Nissan Pathfinder for 100 days. The vehicle had been bashed around before we took delivery of it, and eventually we had to swap it for a proper 4x4 in Denver. There was an issue with the steering. In our opinion, this should not have been allowed on the road for such a long rental. I hope I never see another Nissan Pathfinder again.

We dropped our rental car here at the beginning of August as part of our big family holiday in USA/Canada. The man who served us could not have been more helpful, polite, friendly & effecient. The staff at this Hertz counter seem to be a bit confused as to good customer service. They seem to "over do" taking time to make a personal connection chatting up customers when there is a line waiting for service. Also, there was no clear expectation explained when a Gold Member behind me was pulled ahead of me, even though there were two available service agents at the time. I became annoyed which led to my embarrassment. Although the SUV was brand new and spacious, it was very underpowered for the terrain we were visiting. (Nissan Pathfinder) Overall, disappointing.
I booked a rental through priceline, got to the counter and the customer service agent was awful. He said that they don't do same day rental pick ups and that I would have to call price. He didn't even offer to help me find a solution, He just got back on his cell phone. I called priceline they tried reaching hertz but got no answer, this was Saturday November 20th. Today November 22, 2021 I called priceline again they tried calling hertz no answer. So I tried to call myself no answer. Long story short don't ever rent from Hertz at the airport in Buffalo, NY I'm still trying to get my money back.
Stay clear of this place - they charge extra hidden fees and taxes, the customer service is TERRIBLE, and the employees have a hard time speaking the English language! It's an embarrassment for them to be in the Buffalo Niagara International Airport for people first arriving to have to deal with such poor customer service!
Absouletly terrible service, the gentleman refused me the vehicle I payed in advance and was told I was able to rent the vehicle. Went in to pick it up and the person at the cash register told me I was unable to rent any vehicle due to being 24 and needing to be 25 to rent. After this the guy told me it's not his money and I have to figure it out as I was renting the vehicle to go to a funeral. After the fact they then refused to refund my money until I talked to a supervisor who insisted that I pay a cancelation fee even though it was hertz who refused me service to begin with. I will never return to hertz at the buffalo airport your better off walking than trying to rent from them.

Reserved a car on 8/22, arrived on October 6 to a dark empty Hertz desk and no cars whatsoever. It's 11:30pm, I am stranded after 15 hours of travel, and end up having to take a $82 taxi to my elderly mother's home. Don't have a clue how you can run a business completely shafting folks and then don't have the balls to stick around to deal with the consequences. Unbelievably unprofessional.**update. It's November 13th, more than a month after this debacle and still no refund for my taxi after contacting both Corporate and Buffalo Hertz management.

I booked with kayak online several months ago and paid upfront for a suburban equivalent. I used my visa debit to make the online purchase. Shockingly hertz doesn’t rent to people who only have a visa debit. They don’t seem to mind taking your $800 months in advance off the same exact card. I was never informed at any time during the purchase online of any screwed up policies that discriminate against people with bank issues visa debit cards. The customer service rep “Connie” was for all intents and purposes completely useless and rude. Thank god theres another hertz across Genesee next to McD’s. They were more than help and did everything just to get us on our way. Airport Hertz sucks. I’ll never give them business again

Tried to reserve a rental at this location. Called from the number listed on the website. Got on the phone with the manager Matt. Matt was super rude. I don't know how he became manager. I've never been stopped in my tracks so fast. I didn't even know what to say. I just hung up. Don't deal with Matt, he's a piece if work.

Awful service at Hertz At Buffalo Airport today! Probably 50 people in line and it’s taking an average of 7-10 minutes per group. Will we be here until midnight?

Arrived late to Buffalo. Gold Plus line closed. Only 2 attendants work both Dollar and Hertz. Had to wait in line over an hour. What is the benefit of being a rewards member? Not happy
Worse service ever . Sales rep do very unethical sales practices by not disclosing fees and services provided. My reservation was not even $170 for the whole time of the trip. He ask me to sign but without disclosing any extras fees. Once he gave me a the receipt there was around 4 different fees that were never disclosed at anything. I will be reporting this to the BBB and hope to hear from Hertz about this individual and his unethical practices.
Vehicle was fine. No problems. Returning car was fine. Check out was terrible. I waited in line at the Buffalo-Niagra Airport for at least an hour. It was longer than my flight from Wilmington, NC, to Atlanta. Would not suggest Hertz at this airport.
Beware of additional charges. Counter rep added LDW without consent at pickup, then tried to bill for additional fuel after return even though vehicle was returned with over full tank. Keep your fuel receipts and take photos of your mileage and fuel gauge upon return, and avoid afterhours return if possible. Although I like Hertz, I would not rent at this location again.

Worst customer service ever. The manager tried to force me into filing an incident report although I had no incident. The truck I rented from Hertz was shaking as I drove and the service engine light turned on. The manager was extremely disrespect and demanding. All I wanted was to switch to a safer car for my family and I.
I went to this place to rent a car a few times they always polite to me specifically this lady Geissa she so professional and treats everyone very nice!..i give her not only 5 stars but 10 stars because she's very helpful and very kind!.gracias por ayudarme geissa suerte besos y abrazos!..:*
To address in Hertz counter to get our car or sedan or suburban nearly 20 to 25 mnts. It could have been shorter. But for this, car rental and getting it on road andafter usage returning full car was like child's play. Great Hertz.But may I request that service to each customer of yours may be truly improved and impressed. Your reputation after all need it. Pl keep it up bravo.
