Firstly and most importantly, the bill was $150 more than the website estimated. $150 overcharged! On top of that, they refused to give me my AAA discount because I didn't jump through the correct hoops during the booking process, even though I had the AAA card on me, two separate employees verified it, and the woman at customer service confirmed that I was eligible for the discount, the company still refused to give me the discount. The line was at least 50 people long at all times, yet the company chose to have only one person at the front desk, screwing over both the customers and the employee working. I scheduled a pickup at 10 am. I arrived at the counter at 10:30, 30 minutes after the car was supposed to be ready, and after I checked in, I still had to wait two full hours to get into the vehicle. The pickup was scheduled for 10 and I didn't get into the vehicle until 12:30. They were 2 and a half hours late. On top of ALL of that, they didn't even have the car I reserved. 2 and a half hours late and they still couldn't even give me the car I reserved, so they switched me from a Ford Focus to a Toyota Corolla last minute just to give me any vehicle and get me out the door. I'm not even mad about getting a Corolla, I'm mad that the company was so incompetent they couldn't even keep track of the Focus I reserved. I'm never using Hertz again

Horrible service!!! Rented a car almost 3 months ago.. Hertz didn’t have the ‘approved’ vehicle the insurance required, so they bumped me up to a SUV. Well.. HETRZ THEN CHARGED ME! My account was charged over $200 which then overdrew my account!! It has now been a month and a half... and I am STILL WAITING for the reimbursement!!! WILL NEVER RENT FROM OR RECOMMEND HERTZ TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN!!!!!! Sincerely, a very unhappy customer

I really wish I could give them zero stars. I rent thru them to drive for Uber. They charged my original card incorrectly and I made a new application with them and everything seemed to be going fine until I extended it. They took the money from my account and I got a confirmation but received a call that it wasn’t actually valid any longer and I would be in trouble if the vehicle isn’t returned. So I returned it and let them know I will not be coming back. And I will dispute any charge they try to process.

My sister locked the keys in the rental car which was over an hour away from the closest location. They came out within a 1.5 hours and unlocked the running car! It was a rush, but she made her flight and they didn't charge us for the mistake. I had this as five stars first, but when it came to charging my card it was over 300 more. They added 75.00 for changing the drop off date even though they were given plenty of notice, thus complying with the contract, and several other things too lengthy to mention. It took several phone calls and MANY hours to get the mess straight. The bottom line is this; if you change your original deal FOR ANY REASON, it opens it up for all kinds of charges you didn't know about. The agent who booked it will not be able to help.

I had to wait 40 mins before, i can talk to someone and it took another 30 mins to get the car ready! Go to another location where they value your time. Nobody cares about customers here.

Our reservation was for 10 at the Amtrak station. We you read much further down the reservation email it says after arriving at Amtrack take cab to Genesee street hertz. We arrived late. There was a quick check in because no one was there. Employee was friendly. It took 40 minutes to have our car ready. It came dirty on the outside and smelled smoke like on the inside and had not been cleaned good especially with the Covid standards in place. Definitely not sanitized. Hair was in it and crumbs and the leather seats were not even wiped down. He gave us a 10 % discount. But honestly that hardly covers it. Very disappointing. Would not recommend this location

I've rented from them before but the last time was an unmitigated disaster. They gave me a confirmed reservation for 6pm, yet no one alerted me to the fact they CLOSE at 6pm. I got there at 6:03 and they were closed. I desperately needed a car to drive to Toronto to help my 94 year old mother through a medical procedure. Walked across the street to the airport Hertz location. They found a car for me but would not honor the Genesee St. location contract. I ended up paying three times the agreed price. I have lodged a formal complaint with the NY State Dept. of State Consumer Protection division. You CANNOT book a reservation for your exact closing time and leave people stranded without a warning and out of pocket many hundreds more than agreed upon. Stay away!! (giving one star because Google won't allow me to post this with zero stars)

I recently rented a car over the holidays. I originally had a reservation with Enterprise, but that turned out to be nightmare, so I was very surprised (and happy) with the quality and professionalism from the employees here. The gentleman I had the pleasure of working with not only helped me get everything set up, but was even able to get me a lower price then what Enterprise quoted me, and this was a couple of days before Christmas. I am very pleased with my experience here, and the next time I need to rent a vehicle, I will definitely be calling Hertz first.

I was mercy flighted and hertz towed car immediately with all of my property I am in trauma center internally bleeding and my purse and all of my property is in the car that was obliterated. Now they are closed and my medicine I take for mental health is in there and no one has answers for me. So I appreciate how Inhumane these people are.

I had a 12 noon pick up time on 10/2/21, arrived at 11:59 am and the Hertz employee walked out the door and said she had an appointment. Left three of us hanging with no way to pick up the cars we rented. Left stranded in Buffalo without a car for three days. Incredibly inconvenient experience. Abysmal service. Another bit of information...they do not answer the phone when you try to contact them about issues.

Update : The worst rent a car experience i have ever had. They never answer the phone . Over a half hour late for a pick up even after i confirmed the time twice. Go elsewhere , trust me . They left the rental at the shop for 2 weeks , called me because it was overdue , then said they forgot to pick it up. Then charged me a 400 cleaning fee which on the website says it for smoking ..... I don't smoke. Small claims court here we come.

Very disappointed in my experience here. We rented a premium car and received a car that had scratches all over and was dirty on the outside. When we got home and packed the car for our trip we noticed some areas actually had garbage from previous renters. During these times of COVID-19, my impression is that they would make sure this car was spotless, not the case. Also a worker inside the building didn't have his mask on while picking up the car. I feel as though I was robbed of the money I paid for a premium car and will likely avoid using this company in the future.

This was a horrible experience. And I did nothing wrong. That girl at Hertz on pearl street in Buffalo need some more training or she need to be called out on Lying to the customer. I drive all the way to the airport to turn my rental back to keep from looking at her. And I just got a text from my insurance of payment that doesn't match my receipt. I am a VERY patient person. But this was a lot. Everybody trying to RIP YOU OFF!!.

Never go here overbooked vehicles so you don't even get a vehicle with a reservation. They won't take your prepaid card even though it's linked to a bank account. Rude customer service as well not helpful. Put reservation at wrong location.

Located across from Buffalo Airport, a short walk or low cost shared ride ( there is no shuttle service) but the savings are worth it. Staff is friendly, always helpful but bear in mind be patient as location is busy with seemingly with constant phone calls. A good array of vehicle choices.Check mirrors as they always seem to be folded in due to the car wash.

They get a 2 only because the staff was friendly. When asked if they give a ride back to the airport I was told no, there is a walkway to get across the 6 lane highway to the airport. As you see in my photos there is no walkway. So you have to walk to the light to cross that 6 lane very busy road with 4 suitcases by yourself. I'm very good but not that good. I couldn't believe it. They said it is because hertz has a location at the airport. Am I missing something? Just another way to get more money from customers, they said something about a 20% charge and if you just leave the car that you rented from across the street at their on site location there will be a 50.00 charge. I will NEVER rent from any hertz location.

The car was dirty, smelled bad and there was dents and scratches on the outside. Plus they charge way too much for what you get. The suv was super loud when I went over any bumps. Probably won’t rent from Hertz again in the near future unless I get a smoking deal.

DO NOT rent a car from this place!!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible customer service. They NEVER answer the phone. When I drove the car home it smelled. I rolled down the windows it did not help. I wiped down the wheel and dashboard, they were filthy. The last straw was no windshield washer fluid, none, completely dry! This was the last straw. They would not answer the phone. I drove the car right back and demanded another one. Today was the last straw. They neglected to inform me that a 17 cent toll would turn into an extra 5.95 . Every new day you get on the thruway it is another 5.95 regardless of how small the toll charge is. I figured I would be responsible for the tolls, rightly so. It sure would of helped if they would have mentioned the 5.95 extra fee per day. It was just all around terrible service. Do yourself a favor and rent anywhere bur here. Before I wrote this, I tried to call and complain, but NO ANSWER.

Upon checking in at the airport into our 7 seater SUV that we booked online we realized that it was not big enough as we had a lot of luggage. There were no bigger trucks available and we were sent to the this Hertz just across the street to check. Ron helped to get us in the right vehicle. He was very professional. Even though we left the airport with a bad impression Ron turned that right around. Get up the great work!

I booked online through Hotwire, but Herz was the one that charged me. And still when I arrived, the location that was half a block away and they were closed and they told me they couldn’t help me because I paid already and they had no cars!!!!! So if you prepay the full amount you get screwed because I booked half a block away in the same company? Wow. I couldn’t book anywhere else since no one had cars for that day. So my first day of vacations ruined since I had no transportation, and yet Herz told me that they could do nothing but refund me my money. If you want a reliable rental go to enterprise, so many people frustrated with this situations and I only saw it at Herz. I will never book from them again. And I hope a lot of people see this and steer away since this ruined half of my vacations. Sad sad.

At first gave 4 star. .now after not having car ready...n drove off 134 miles...call them up to mention that xar still smell like weed...office was close..when got call later next day...they offer to go to a local agency n replace car..was already at a theme prk with family n kids..was not going to waste that valuable family time...they said..no easy pass on car...will have to pay at end....well...pay all my toll on credit card while passing. Through..at the last toll..the teller at my last exit at the tool plaza...said to me..u r ok...got a toll pass divice...now it's my problem to see..n chk all double. Charges..on my rental unit...by plate...by pass divice..or by straight payment by me when passing toll.

I had to return a car to Hertz that was rented out of state. I walked in about 4 minutes before the office was set to close for the day, but the staff was friendly and didn't make any of those under the breath comments about the last guy in. I actually didn't realize they were set to close until after the transaction. We joked for a few minutes while he processed the return, and I was sent pleasantly on my way. Customer service was great.

If I could give O stars I would. Once you rent the car online there is no way you can contact the location, or any other locations to ask questions. I wanted to upgrade the car and had a bunch of questions. I had to call a bunch of different locations and only 1 actually answered their phone. I was told at the location I used that they actually silence their phone so they did not hear the phone ringing. It was nuts! I could not believe what I heard. One girl working there actually told me that " the phone is mean." If it wasn't for the manager, who was extremely helpful when I was there, I felt like canceling my reservation, but it was needed that day. Unless you have no need for communication after you make the reservation, I would use another car rental company.

Renting a car now a days is a very hectic process. Most rentals you need either good credit or credit card or plane ticket. Either way the average person from middle class to low income can't a rental even though you have rented a car in the past. I predict rental will dropped off again as they did in the past when this policy was in effect.
