I've been a regular customer at Zoom for 6 years probably. Trying once in a while other companies, but always coming back to favorite Zoom. They are great! I don't see any competitive alternative for car rental (I tried few companies before). Prices for economy cars are very low. But I've rented luxury and exotic vehicles from them also. Vehicles are always clean. It's not like I was renting for $100/day probably 10 y o car covered with thick layer of dust just block away. At Zoom most of the times it's fresh cars with low mileage, and that makes me drive with confidence and pleasure. Few times it was brand new cars with 30 km odometer! I've found very convenient to make a reservation online. I'd like to mention, they are open late and open 7 days (very important for me)! But most important sours of pleasant experience at Zoom is staff. Those guys and girls are hero's! Despite they are running all day between customers at the counter, ringing phones, vehicles, papers, etc, they are polite, very helpful and nice. I highly recommend this place to my friends.

My sister recommended Zoom after her recent trip to Toronto. I did some research on the web and was really surprised at some of the negitive accusations leveled at this low cost car rental company. So it was with trepidation that I booked a compact car for a week with Zoom. I called for pickup at the Airport and was picked up promptly, the driver was friendly and courteous. I arrive at the rental office and found the office person "Shelly" friendly and knowledgeable. I had no problem when I presented my Insurance card and Credit card in lew of additional insurance, I felt no pressure to purchase any options in-fact. Shelly and I went outside to go over the Mazda3. The car was freshly washed and smelled nice inside. Shelly went over the existing scratches and a ding on the car, checked the windshield fluid, fuel and mileage. So far so good I thought. I asked Shelly if she could give me directions to my destination and she gladly printed me out a trip tik, Super. I loved driving the Mazda3. At the end of the week, I returned the car after hours, which means parking the car in the parking lot and dropping the car keys off at the Western Airport Hotel, which is a few yards from the Zoom office, easy. I took the hotel shuttle ($10) to the airport and all was well. Before I landed I received a detailed E-Mail from Zoom with no added fees or hidden charges. It was great experience at HALF THE PRICE of the big name rental car agencies. It was also the same positive experience my sister had. I give Zoom a 5 STAR "LOVED IT" Save yourself some money, thank me later!

Dixie Road, near Pearson. Booked a Jetta as it has more space for luggage. Booked online and paid for it therefore non-refundable. Get there today and they give us an Elantra which is smaller for space. Paid for insurance online via Hotwire too, and received an email AFTER payment went through that we only get 200kms per day instead of unlimited mileage like any other rental companies. They then tell us that our paid insurance was not good enough and we had to pay extra insurance to cover 3rd party liability. If we had not have paid online we would have immediately cancelled and used another well known rental company. The extra cost at another company would've been fine, as Zoom have hidden costs they don't tell you about upfront. They also wanted to still charge the extra last day of insurance which we did not need as our plans changed and need to fly out one day earlier. We're just waiting to see how much more $$ they try to squeeze out of us in a few days time. We travel all over the world and this is the worst experience we've ever had. Sorry, no more business from us. ZERO stars aren't available as a choice, but ZERO stars is what you deserve.

You can get a great deal if you rent with a package deal. Be sure about your dates and lock it in. Clean cars, and the staff are easy to talk to. Quite cheaper than other rentals online.

Dirty cars and your rental cost does not include the cost of mandatory Third Party Liability insurance all automobiles are required to have by law. All other rentals have this included in their quote of rental cost. This will double your cost once you arrive at the location which is not very close to the airport. Also, they love arguing with their customers, so this is the perfect place if you in the mood for a good quarrel.

Worst customer service. I rent cars everywhere I go and this is by far the worst experience I ever had. I reserved a small SUV through a hotwire under "NU" rental car. I arrived at the place and realized it is ⁸a "Zoom" rental instead. I gave them my temporary driver's license due to a lost license. I also provided them a picture of my old license. The manager comes to the desk and he tells me that he can't accept the license. I told him but it is an official temporary driver's licesnse if I get stopped this is what I will show as prove of my license. He then tells me well I don't have a car for you but I will do you a favor, I will give your a van. I told him I don't feel comfortable with a van and to give me a small car instead for the same price. He said no smaller car for me unless I have to wait for others to return cars.I had no option at the time. He also told me I can cancel the reservation if I wanted and that no rental car would accept my license. I waited almost 2 hours no car for me. Finally he said to me there is a car in the shop that is being repaired I can have it after it is completed. I asked him how long and he said about 25 minutes. By then it was almost 8 p.m and had arrived at the airport at 3:09p.m. I couldn't believe that everyone that came after me left with a car except me. A couple saw that I was not being treated fairly and asked for their SUV to be given to me. However, the manager convinced them to take the car. Finally, I had to call hotwire to complain and the manager stated " now you want to damage our reputation and you make me regret that I even offered to give you a car". Hotwire handled it and was given an upgraded vehicle. Moreover, beaware of this scammers. I don't know if it was hotwire or zoom rental itself that false advertised as the rental car being in the terminal. Itis 15-20 min from the airport.

We had a good experience. Pros: much cheaper than car rentals located at YYZ; nice car Cons: it does take 20 minutes to get there from the airport (they will pick you up if your flight arrives/departs during their business hours) They called to confirm the rental a week before and were pleasant to deal with in their office. Tips: to access their shuttle, take the train to Viscount (the van they picked us up in was unmarked). Coming back, we dropped off the car early and could give the keys to the Best Western. We were able to take a shuttle from that hotel for $10 each (cash only) - we were initially unaware of the cost.

Quick Version - Great Customer Service, Covid Friendly - Highly recommended for rental car use as a cheaper option than picking up from airport. When booking we originally had a flight that was landing at Pearson with tons of time before Zoom was scheduled to close. Flight became delayed causing us to arrive into Pearson at 1740 (they close at 1800) we were planning on calling to reschedule/cancel; however, the lady at the desk stated that herself and her needed staff would wait beyond 1800 for us as long as we caught a cab and made our way over to them as quick as possible. We arrived 15-20 minutes after close only to be happily greeted and have the rental process completed smoothly. The car was clean and in wonderful condition (2020 Toyota Corolla). No complaints with this company. Only downfall for this rental was due to them being closed there was no free shuttle available so the cab ride cost us roughly $40.00. Not sure if this is normal but it did seem steep for such a short distance. Zoom made a hectic day become stress free towards the end thanks to accommodating us.

book the car rental through rentalcars.com and they have booked the car through this company. When I went to pick up the car, they tried to sell me extra car insurance. After 15 minutes debating with them, I didnt need extra insurance since it is already covered by the credit card company. Now I got my credit card statement, Zoom rentals charged me for the same amount as rentalcars.com. DOUBLE charges! When I tried to call them to explain, they hanged up on me! So NO don't ever go there to rent your car if you want to avoid all these troubles!

I would compare this place to a budget plane ticket. It's cheap on the surface, but they'll nickel and dime you for other stuff. Nothing is included. The car they gave us was good and brand new. The customer service was decent. Their hours aren't very long so be prepared to come up with other transportation plans to the airport off hours.

One of the worst costumer service representatives. Very rude and unprofessional to deal With. The customers trust the sales reps to inform them about any unknown service charges that you might incur before signing the agreement. This is used against the customer for levied charges later on. All other car rentals I've dealt with so far have always billed me the details and receipts of toll charges in Toronto which I've paid in full online past the rental rates. I see a service charge of $30 in addition to my toll charges of $13 on my credit card two months later receiving explanation on communication following a week after with their service charge of $ 30 which doesn't make any sense. On calling them, they pour down the blame on me for not reading the agreement on signing it. Even the cars have dents in them which later I was blamed for during drop off. Very unprofessional! This was with the reservation I had done on April 24th, 2014 I had put up a review on Trip Advisor on June 2nd, 2014 Which was then removed as Zoom Car Rental wasn't identified as an individual business at that time and used to pull up as a part of Best Western Hotel.

I had a very good experience with zoom rent a car. Evertyhing went very smoothly both before, during and at the return of the car. There is a pick up possible from the airport at Viscount station. I had an issue with the GPS cable that did not work and got to buy one. The company did not charge me for it for the whole time of the rent even if it had bother me only for 1 day. Update based on the response from Zoom: 1- I did not call the office to book my rental, I booked it through a third party website (economybookings) and the liability portion which I had to pay for was only mentioned in the fine print (by which the agent had to show it to me to believe, it wasn't even in the confirmation email). All rental companies in Canada are required by law to provide liability and most of them provide it for free (out of at least 7 I deal with on regular basis, only Zoom charged me for it). 2- "and you had a choice to decline our services" which means I would lose the $110 deposit I paid online :) 3- "that means you are breaching your agreement" even online and publicly, they are so aggressive! No I'm not breaching my agreement and I'm fully insured as I rotate my cards (4 different cards) and I leave at least 24 hours between rentals. Uninformed aggressive service :) Original review: Hidden fees in the form of mandatory liability insurance if you don't have a personal car coverage policy. Credit cards don't cover this as it's mandatory for all car rental agencies and all competitors provide it included in the rental cost... Except for zoom which charges $12/day and you may be able to get a discount for longer rentals. I've been renting cars on monthly bases for 3 years now, I've literally tried them all, including Globe Car Rental (which is considered one of the cheapest and recently closed their office in Toronto due to Covid), this is the worst.

I use Zoom every time I fly in to Toronto. And I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. Their prices CANT BE BEAT! The vehicles are always clean and new, have good features and are well maintained. The service is very quick and efficient and they always take the time to help you through any issues or concerns you may have. I know there are a lot of mixed reviews out there but if you focus on what you need and stop worrying about trying to pull one over on rental companies you will have no issues. This was one of our best experiences! Great service, no hidden costs. Make sure you have your insurance papers that show you are covered for rentals (for BC residents this means RoadStar/Roadside Plus) and you are good-to-go. Shuttle pick-up and drop-off at the Viscount Station (Airport link train). The cars are clean and the latest models. The first time we ordered a compact and got a 2019 Hyundai Sonata that was extremely fuel efficient and was super comfortable. Great for the long travel days we had ahead of us. This second time we rented and got a 2020 Hyundai Elantra. Clean and comfortable, fuel efficient and all the amenities you need. We were picked up at Viscount Station and dropped off right at Terminal 3 Departures. Both of our rentals have been great experiences. They are very professional and courteous. All in all a very good experience. Highly recommend booking as far in advance as you can, as they are booked solid, due to the value for the price! Thank you Zoom/Mex/Nu! The people we dealt with need some customer service training. I would give this place negative stars if I could. We had some complaints due to a miscommunication between us and Tajinder, he clearly stated if the tire had anything puncturing it, we would cover the charges (no problem) because we were dealing with a air leak problem within the tire. We proceeded to take a video for proof that the tire was not punctured, brought the car in to get checked, and there was a small leak due to normal wear and tear. When we went back they gave us a bill claiming we had to pay 260$ for a brand new tire. ZOOM RENT A CAR brought the car into Tire Terminal (their body shop) and their mechanic claimed the structure of the tire was damaged due to a flat tire. We informed them the tire was leaking and needed to be filled frequently as well as ABSENT TIRE SENSOR which they claimed “people play with the settings, it’s normal that it goes off” no, it should be ZOOM RENT A CAR’s Job to make sure the TIRE SENSOR is ON. Nasir, said he left the car for 2 whole days which then he came back to a flat tire and proceeded to bring the car into Tire Terminal and claimed WE LET IT FLAT AND DROVE ON IT FLAT. We did NOT, he verbally admitted to letting the tire go flat hence damaging the structure of the tire and left US with a 260$ dollar bill. When speaking to Tajinder, he refused to listen to us and acted like a child by interrupting us and constantly telling us he didn’t want to listen to us speak anymore, IN FRONT OF A FULL LOBBY. They were completely disrespectful,and told us he did not want to hear me speak anymore and he didn’t care about what I had to say. SIDE NOTE, when we came into ZOOM RENT A CAR, Tajinder was HIGH. Do not go here, some of the staff were VERY unprofessional, telling us he didn’t want to listen to us anymore. Charged my credit card without my consent due to an issue that WAS NOT caused by me. I will NEVER rent from ZOOM RENT A CAR again. You guys are shady and run a lousy business.

my first time visit to Toronto sometimes in June 2019 and i rented a car from Zoom which is away from the airport, taxi came to pick me up after calling the desk multiple times, then the lady at the front desk, explained me the rent charges, fuel policy and insurance but she never opened up about the toll charges or recommend me to take toll pass.....i took the vehicles and drove...i drove few places and returned the car after using for few days.. Then, end of Aug 2019 i was charged for toll which is more than the car rental..i would really wanted to know the rationale behind Zoom charging me for toll that sky high...i called the company and i was told i will get the detailed bill by mail/post to US address and i am sure i have not drove that many tolls but i am looking forward for it.... My concern is why the customer service desk not explain me about the toll charges? is that where the catch is?

I wish I could give a ZERO star. Worst customer service ever. The employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. Its a SCAM. Do not get attracted by the wonderful low rates. once you give your credit card you will be charged for things you are not aware of. Like $150 for a smell of smoke in the car. It was my first and last experience with them. Please go for a little higher price with other well known companies instead of getting overcharged from them. If they do not want to explain about the additional charges they won't answer your phone or will put you on hold for a really long time and will also hang upon you. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

Terrible experience! I ordered a car from Zoom on Expedia. Only when I arrived on site did it turn out to be Mex Rent A Car (affiliated), which has terrible reviews. When I ordered online, it showed unlimited mileage, but it wasn't. They also charged a bunch of other fees. You will end up paying more than the brand companies located at the airport. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

What I really don't like about this agency is they will pickup you to the airport and bring you to their office (in the middle of nowhere) and then they will tell you that you HAVE TO pay an insurance - the same insurance you don't need to pay in any other Car rental company. So you lost some time to get to their office and if you don't want to pay it, you will loose more time and find your own way how to go back. This is something that I consider as VERY UNFAIR to customers and the concept of hidden fees you have to pay and you don't know about it. For that reason I will never rent a car from this company any more and I strongly suggest potential customers to have this in mind before they decide to rent from them

I've been renting with Zoom Rent-A-Car for some time in the past and recently I used their services again after a long break. I was pleasantly surprised by the many improvements. First of all, the priced are reasonable and the vehicles are new, the car I got to rent was a 2015 model and had a back up camera, a nice feature and not that common from rental companies. Secondly, it all went very smooth with the shuttle, I made a call from the airport and a shuttle came in some 5-10 minutes... no long waiting. On my way back, the driver of a shuttle asked where I was going (I was taking TTC) and let me off right at the 192 bus stop location, not just at the usual terminal stop. And most importantly, the level of their customer services is impeccable, all the staff are very professional and helpful. There was a minor damage to the car (probably someone scratched it on a parking lot), and the staff gave me good advice on how to proceed with my insurance company and explained all the steps on the way, considering it was my first experience with making a claim. I really appreciated their assistance and support. I forgot my water bottle as I was leaving and they called the driver of a shuttle and he returned just so we could pick it up - small thing and but leaves quite an impression! Overall, I had a very positive experience with Zoom Rent-A-Car, I will recommend it to my friends and I will use their services in the future as well.

I had a horrible experience with them. I was a rental booking through the website for unlimited mileage. But when I went to get the car, I was shocked to hear that I had only 200km per day. Such a trap to attract people????????. Will never book with them.. Very unprofessional...

Haven't picked my rental up yet. However, the customer service here is horrible just got off the phone with a representative 7.31.17 eastern time 2:17pm and last week July 19th. I'm attempting to change the time for my reservation. The rep that I spoke with on the 19th was rude and unprofessional he couldn't give me a quote in USD told me to Google the CAD to USD exchange rate. Wow. Now today (7.31.17) it seems there's only 1 representative working.Had me on hold for 7 mins then told me to hold again while I could hear him on the chatting with someone else. I have a bad feeling about this company. Will keep you posted once I pick up the rental. I will be finding out who the manager is.

The management is very clear cheater. i dont find -Ve rating otherwise i would go with -100 stars. They force you to buy liability insurance saying credit card insurance is not accepted for collision. If you accept to buy liability insurance then they will let you decline their collision insurance. How they are cheating... If you decline their insurance then they won't accept credit card insurance. Clear cheaters... As per Ontario law each rental company should needs to have 3rd party insurance for their car and they do have 3rd party covered in base rental despite that they force you to buy liability insurance. They are earning SIN from customers which they are going to pay back in their personal life.

Today was the first time I’ve rented from this company. I rented using a third party site and the name it showed was ‘Holiday Auto’ but upon arrival, I ended up at a place called ‘Zoom Car Rental’ They put $1000 hold to rent a car and on top of this, I was told that it was ‘mandatory’ for me to purchase insurance for the vehicle (a policy that many other car rentals do not have) Not a pleasant experience as this was all not stated on the agreement when I paid for the car rental when it was booked online. Forget about trying to get a refund, they can’t help with that either. Will never use this company again as I could’ve just used another company who was closer to home for the same price and better service with NO hidden fees.

We only had to wait 10-15 minutes for a shuttle to pick us up. We declined all insurance since our credit card (collision) as well as our home car insurance (3rd party) covered it all. The CR-V we got had only 9000 km which was basically a new car. Its clean, no odour, and came with a full tank of gas. Car was spacious for 3 adult and 1 toddler. The drop off process is smooth and they gave us a ride back to the Pearson Airport in 15 minutes. The only room for improvement is probably the toddler car seat we got wasn't not clean. We were able to pick 1 from 5 of them and they were all... Let's say they could've clean it better. Would recommend for sure and rent again if we had to.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! This is the worst place to rent a car. Their online and over the phone prices are nothing compared to what they actually charge you . First they told me my visa insuarance is all I need, but when I went in they told me I have to by a $10/day insurance from them, we agreed to a certain amount for the week I was renting. I extended my week to a month after calling them, which they had no problem with, they didn't discuss any prices with me over the phone just told me to bring it in whoever I want. When in brough it in right before my flight they told me they're charging me almost DOUBLE what we agree on per week and told me they spoke on the phone about the rates . They realized I was late so they delayed everything just so I give up and pay them. This is the worst rental experience I've had, I would never go back here they're theifs .

I’m in need for a rental car for a few weeks and they have the best rental rates in the area. They do have some policies that are more strict than other rental places(mandatory insurance if you don’t have your car insurance, no refund on early returns, $20 for vehicle swap) but as long as you know these beforehand, you should be good. Their cars are nice and clean, the Elantra is surprisingly good to drive.

My experience with Zoom rental car is a long story, but I'm on here to give them a 5 star rating after the personal care and attention I received today. Very very long story short; I rented a car and took it out of Province, I rushed when singing the paperwork and just pulled an airhead move, not realizing that I could have bought out of province coverage. ALso my KM were limited for my specific rental. Of course I went over my Miles, and to add insult to injury I lost a very expensive FOB key which was $700 to replace. After hearing how much the key and my grand total was, I exploded my frustrations on Yelp and really went off on a tangent. (When I want I can be sharp and cut people down) Mike, experienced this wrath ( even though I never met the guy) Today, when I went to settle up he took me in his office, and we had a chat, gentleman to gentleman and we hashed things out. In the end I was given a break on my out of Province penalties, and even given a free ride to the airport. The way they operate is simple, ask for help, have a discussion, they will try their best to fix your problem. This review is 5 stars because even after defaming Mike's character on Yelp and not really understanding the paperwork I signed, he helped me out. ps: Just save everyone a headache and read every line of the contract, and be careful when renting through third party because it seems that the 3rd party website may list unlimited KM when in actuality there are Km restrictions depending on the rental. But as I was shown today, just speak up, let them know what you want and they will accommodate as best as they can in context to their business model. Cheers

I rented twice and every time i go there i see people fighting with them, and also they will try their best to take extra money out of you either on being 2 hours late of drop off and if ur not careful with checking car before picking up on any damages they will take the damage from you, if u dont have insurance they will make you pay 10$/day for that! They treat people there like garbage.

Easy, straightforward, and really understanding staff. I noticed there were very faint stains in the back of the car we were renting and they let me know that I should just send a photo their way via email right away and we’d have the time stamps to prove that myself and my companions had nothing to do with them. Would rent again :)

Horrible customer service. First, this is an off airport rental, but this is an issue I cleared with Expedia. The directions to get the shuttle are hidden somewhere in the reservation. I called the rental place & told me to go down Viscount station & I would be picked up there. I went there & called back to ask what the shuttle looks like & the woman told me the shuttle had just left the airport and would be another 20 min for it to come back (after 5 min of my first call). I waited 30 min for the next shuttle & when we arrived to the rental place the treatment was horrible. The guy working there was giving me commands like if I was his employee & I did not appreciate this. I also had to pay the $9 per day insurance or they wouldn't give me the car. I had to call Expedia and cancel the insurance I got from their website. Just a plain stressful experience. I will NEVER use this Zoom rental again.

SCAM alert!! Absolutely PATHETIC service!!Don't opt for these rude and arrogant scamsters. Extremely unprofessional people; they impose lots of hidden charges. The customer representative by the name - 'Aman' assured us that they would issue a refund if we return the car a day before. When we called them few days after returning the car to follow up about the refund, they told that refund is out of their policy and thus it cannot be issued. I would give them 0 stars; these people are not at all trustworthy. Don't rent from here at any cost. Even though their rental prices appear cheaper than other rental agencies, the quality of service is extremely miserable. Stay far away from this one!!

They have internal insurance policy that forces you to buy their own insurance. They don’t accept credit card insurance. You end up paying more compared to other car rentals after the hidden fees. It’s located outside of the airport. Had to wait 20 min for the shuttle van. Shuttle driver was reckless while driving. Employee at the desk was very rude. I would recommend to use other well-known car rental companies

When a company does well, it’s important to share the experience: I recently rented a car at an amazing price through Zoom. ... and I was worried. Of the price was *this* good, there must be a catch, right? The directions to catch the shuttle from the airport were easy to follow. The shuttle driver was polite and helpful. The Check In person was polite and helpful. The car was clean and as expected. I returned the car, and the person advised me that there was significant damage that I had caused. ... except that I most certainly had NOT damaged the car. The dent was on the roof. Who checks the roof when doing a Rental Car Walk Around?!? “Uh Oh!”, I thought. “Here it comes. The rental was a low price because I am now being charged for damage I didn’t cause!” The staff person was polite, and let me know that she needed to talk with the Manager. She was professional and polite even when I unkindly blurted out “Is this part of the Business Plan?” Not my finest moment, but no one likes being in unexpected situations where they are facing a big fee. A few moments later, another staff person confirmed that the damage was caused by another driver, and previously noted. Phew! ... but because the damage was not noted on my original walk around, they could have absolutely charged me for the damage. There wouldn’t have been much I could have done about it (except spend time fighting the charge). Personally, I believe that the great companies are the ones that handle issues professionally and swiftly. There will always be issues at some point (no matter how hard we all try to avoid them). Zoom definitely has my business for all future trips to Toronto. Because I can be confident that any issue will be handled professionally.

Pro: next to gas station, Mazda 3 was quite sporty, I paid the same amount as advertised in the online web page agreement --- no extra charges, I waited only 10 min for my shuttle ride back to airport Notes: took over 1/2hr after placing call at Viscount Station before shuttle arrived, it is an unmarked van so you'll need to ask the driver whether he is from zoom rental, you need to bring copies of your auto insurance (show 3rd party liability) and credit car insurance policy to cover the rental car, otherwise, you'll be force to buy their insurance at about $25/day, I requested a Honda Civic online but got a Mazda 3 (which is ok), I showed them the receipt to prove I have filled up the car with gas, I reset trip A counter to show the miles traveled, they placed a $500 hold on my credit car at the time of rental, they charge extra $30 admin fees if you go on 407 toll road on top of the toll fees so set your GPS to avoid toll road Bottom line: be prepared, do your homework and it will work out ok.

The price be bit lower than other professional companies which is due to third party liability insurance (which is different from collision damage insurance) is not part of this price. So you end up paying advertised amount + $8.99 per day for third party liability When I booked from other agencies located at airport, their service was convenient and seamless 1) In airport, I do not have to do a pre-authorized transaction for $500 (just for 2 days of rental) 2) No additional charge for third party liability (as it is already included in the price they advertise 3) drop off is simple, - just drop off and walk away 4) I have unlimited kms when booked from airport/ but with zoomcar they have a 200km per day limit I will not recommend zoomcar to anyone

Scammers and it's obvious they put their own reviews. They will give you a cheap quote online, then when you show up they will that there are no cars to get you deapwdesp for anything then slam you with an expensive process foe some other car. I got a quote for a minivan for 240, showed up and saw at least 5 vans parked in the front. I was greeted at the door and when they found out I only had a quote, they called the manager. He said sorry no cars (on a Wednesday!?), but let me check again. He made us wait to come back and say we have an 8 seat van, not 7. So it'll be for 500!!! Then he went on how the cars cost so much and tried to make a charity case. Not the kind of business I expect in Canada. It's a dirty online operation and they lady there indirectly told us so!! Zoom Rental Car is great! I'm glad I found them! I live in Canada and have my own car insurance via State Farm and using my own coverage I was able to rent a Mazda 2 for 302 dollars for almost 3 weeks! It was a very good deal. The service I received was excellent. I did not wait any longer than I've had to wait using Enterprise Rental Cars or Budget Rental Cars. While I was renting the car I got a parking ticket in a university parking lot. Zoom charged me for the ticket 60 dollars and I had to ask the manager Mike Sahota to refund me which he did after I sent him the usual proof that I had already paid the ticket. Great service! One thing to remember is to make sure you write down their phone number so they can pick you up at the Airport terminal. If you don't have a smartphone or a computer when you land it could be hard to find. Great company and I'm sure with time they will get even better! Hopefully they won't raise their prices to much so there is an economical car rental option in Toronto and the other cities they service!

I had a couple of major issues with zoom. First, they aren't actually very close to the airport. If you fly into Toronto and are looking to quickly grab a rental car and go, you should skip Zoom. They are a long shuttle ride from the airport. Second, I didn't get the full size SUV I booked. The biggest vehicle they had was a 6 seater Infiniti with almost no room for luggage. We had to just make the best of it because we had no other choice. Lastly and most importantly, their rentals don't come with unlimited kilometres and they charge extra fees for taking their rental cars out of province. This was a complete surprise to me, as well as every single other person ahead of me renting a car from them when I picked up the car. Unhappy people everywhere learning about the "fine print" on the booking email. People book their cars because they seem cheaper when you book but by the time I paid their out of province fees and KM charges, it was actually more expensive than if I had just rented from the usual car rental agencies actually located on site at the airport.

I strongly recommend that the owner (s) of this company review the employees and front line staff that represents the image of the company. While I may not be privy to the experience of others who have sang the praises of this organization, I can assure that if the rental rate is lowered to $2 per day and Zoom is the only option, I would rather travel by bus. It was awful. It was bad. It was extremely disturbing and unprofessional. That would be it. I leave the balance to folks to make their decision, but remember when it comes to service and your dignity, price is irrelevant.

High deposit rate, a lot of hidden/extra fees. The site is outside of the airport so expect delays. The location is not 24/7 so if you are expecting to get to the airport for 8am don't expect it. This is the location on Dixie Rd.

I discovered Routes Car Rental Last year - 2016 and since then I have been using their services. They are very affordable, in fact the most cheapest car rental company I have ever used in Canada. They are very friendly and offer excellent customer service. The service was fast and efficient. The manager for the 401 and Dixie Auto mall location, a lady named Roop Mattu is very friendly, accommodating, efficient, fast and responds to phone calls in a timely manner. Most importantly, all their vehicles are brand new! I recommend you try them once and you will remained with them.

I've rented luxury cars from this place twice. The guys there and friendly. If you are renting from the airport, note that this place is about 20 minutes away especially with the traffic. Give yourself plenty of time for the return because they only have one shuttle going back and forth. Check in can take 30 minutes at times. Overall the service is great.

0 stars. Nice car, but they do not easily disclose the fact that they charge extra for CDW and that isn't covered by your CC insurance. You need to bring your own proof that you have CDW on you own car. Or pay the extra insurance cost, which makes it almost as expensive as renting from the airline port. Never again will I rent from here. If they would add it to the price and be honest they would not have so many upset customers. Both on pick up and drop off I ran into other renters with the same issue. It is in the fine print so read the contract full also they rent for MeX rentals so watch out for both.

When I got the car, since day 1, there was a low pressure error. I didn't put p it when I was returning so the problem was not concealed and they could fix it. But I'm return, they assured me and tried to charge me. When I refused to put in credit card, they refused to provide the prised shuttle service, so I had to get an uber. I would never get it from their inconvenient location without uber. But much worse, is that I realized an hour later that they charged my card without my consent! I am now disputing the charge with my bank. The two stars are for the car which was ok.

This was the WORST car rental experience that I have ever had... i have rented cars all over the world and have never had a bad experience. This place was not at the airport, I paid 68$ for all the extra insurance, and then when I returned the car, the staid there was a scuff on the front that would cost me money. I UNDERSTAND that the car is in my care when I rent it, but I did not make that scuff. I know this. The would not let me leave the facility until I signed their paper, they took my 500$ deposit and wanted another one but I said no. I felt bullied and harassed. I felt unsafe and it was really freaking terrible. It was not handled well. I felt like I'd been hijacked, I felt disrespected and it was a horrible experience. I cried in public because I felt so taken advantage of. They took my money with no real claim as to anything. Basically? I was robbed. The scuff on front? It may have been there at the start, I don't know... I should have paid attention. But that said, I did not do it and it was a mere scruff... wear and tear at best? But the point is, I was terribly bullied by these folks. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. Just don't.

AVOID ZOOM MISSISAGA/YYZ Airport Customer service at the counter was friendly and helpful when making payment. However when the shuttle I arranged and confirmed when picking up the car didn't show up I was less impressed. There are no after-hours support numbers and a call to another branch of Zoom proved equally useless. I left a couple of voicemails - no call back, no offer to reimburse the taxi, no interest at all.

I have shown them the documentation and conditions from the rental agreement (3000 km within province) and they refused to honor it. Never again. Off site - means that you are likely to spend 1.5 to 2 hours after you have collected your bags to get on your way. Not worth it. Putting a hold on your Visa seems like a very old fashioned approach, and then they make you sign another blank Visa slip to cover tickets or toll fee administration - just in case. I was not comfortable or happy with this setup, but I was already almost 2 hours late. Also you are far away from the airport - where other options might be. They have you over barrel and they use that.

This company is a bit far from the airport, so if you just want to land and go, it's not for you. But they do offer a free shuttle that will pick you up in about 15-20 minutes after you call them. The service is great. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I got upgraded for free to a beautiful new car (it literally only had 20 km on it when I got it). The price was exactly as advertised with no hidden fees.

Returned vehicle and was accused of a spill on front seat. When we went to look there seemed to be a faint outline of what used to be a spill that someone (his own attendant or previous client) had cleaned up weeks prior. I insisted I had not spilled a thing but was charged $80 anyhow. Interestingly enough in hindsight a gentleman was discussing an over charge for $80 when I arrived to pick up. I would bet he had been charged also for that same phantom spill.....This business in crooked as can be STAY AWAY! After we gave car back got invoice for all kinds of extra fees and for extra km. fuel tank wasn't full when we received car. Also had to pay extra for insurance. To sum it up don't fall for their cheap prices as at the end you'll end up paying double. Or even more. Scam! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Why can people just have honest business? I really don't get it. Just raise the price a bit and be honest. It is really not that hard.

I've rented quite a few times with Zoom both for business and personal reasons and have always had a pleasant experience with them. I reserve ahead of time so I have never been let down on getting a vehicle for the important occasions. All the girls there contend with a lot in way of customer service. People can be demanding, condescending, and down right abusive, but every one of them serves with a brilliant smile and have been accommodating and kind. I always look forward to the few minutes we get as we work out the paper work. The car selection is superb. I mostly have opted for Mazda 3's and Hyundai Sonata's, because they're great on gas, sporty, responsive, and adequately accommodating for carrying others. If I had to honestly suggest one area of improvement, I haven't always been totally thrilled with how the cars are cleaned, but that's not because the cars are filthy or anything. I've worked in auto cleaning for many years and I guess I just have a far higher standard than most people. So that's not actually a hit at them. I hope it's received as nothing more than constructive criticism. In terms of value/price, I've rented from many places, but I stopped once I learned about Zoom! I'll let that speak for itself. I look forward to years of continued business with my friends at Zoom!

The company has employees who are making best efforts to get the owner out of business. The associates are yet again a black spot of customer service. Asked for a Toyota Corolla to rent. When I showed up all they had were 6 seater dodge vans that burn more fuel but that's all they had. First van was 2/5 full of fuel and that's what's expected to be in it when brought back. Dont be so lazy...fill it up for the customer to make it easier for them. Now I'm charged for using their insurance because telling them I have car rental insurance isn't good enough for them even though it was emailed. Tried this place one- never again. This was the worst rental experience in my extensive involvement with car rentals over the years. It seems more of a scam than a reputable agency. After reading through the reviews and noticing other people encountering the same problems I did, it seemed only right to shine light on the issues many of us dealt with. I booked through Expedia and purchased resonably priced insurance through them as well, but once I reached the check in counter the pushy woman at the desk kept insisting that my insurance coverage wasn't sufficient and I must purchase their insurance as well, at a ridiculous price. When I refused she offered the insurance package at half the price. Considering that I was renting for 1 month, it seemed she did not want to lose out on charging me extra for insurance that I already had. After a long wait she brought the car around, went back inside, then came out and asked me to sign the documents without doing a walk around of the car. Upon inspecting the car once I returned it, there was a tiny mark on the lower part of the bumper that I had not noticed considering the size of the spot in question. They insisted that they must make a claim (through the Expedia insurance that they were so immensely against. I asked why they don't file a claim with their own insurance, they said they don't cover these issues...at those high rates). I argued with them over the mark, considering the insignificant size, of course I had missed it when I was asked to do the walk around of the car alone. During this conversation, the representative who I had dealt with upon pick up was YELLING at me from the back room insisting she did the walk around. I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and the obvious scam they were trying to pull over the insurance company. The claim process was an ordeal of its own - not with Expedia's insurance - they were wonderful. Zoom charged my credit card the full amount of the repair costs without informing me or providing an invoice in advance. I suppose this is what's to be expected with a subpar agency.

This place is a total scam. You may think you are getting a better deal than an on airport rental agency, but you are not. They demand to verify your personal insurance policy coverage, otherwise you have to buy their ripoff coverage making your car rental more expensive than at the airport. Save yourself the hassle of being stranded as they are far away from the airport. Just spend the extra money at Alamo, National or another reputable company and don't let these losers take you for a ride. A lot of the good reviews on here seem super fake, so buyer beware! Update in response to reply from the business: it wasn't an issue that you wanted to verify my insurance, it was the fact that this was disclosed NOWHERE until I got to your location. Additionally, your staff member with the smug attitude the moment I questioned your policy made me realize this whole thing was a racket. I can't believe I even attempted to call my insurance company to appease your ridiculous policy. Luckily I listened to my gut and left. The Best Western right beside you had a shuttle so I could get back to the airport and not deal with scam artists. And for anyone reading their 5 star glowing reviews, dig a little deeper because they are SO fake. Looks like they were purchased off Fiverr and told what to write. It's painfully obvious.

I called earlier in the day and talked to someone about booking a car and she couldn't give straight answer or answer my questions at all (on her defense she could be new to the job) so I booked a car online and when I landed I called them multiple times with no answer and actually picking the phone up and physically hanging up. I talked to Pearson airports information guide and was told to call them from a designated phone so they can pick me up. I took the train to the spot, called multiple times again with no answer and they hung the phone up again. I have been renting from Zoom for about a month and a half (not including one terrible week with trans canada/EZ rent-a-car). When you first pick up the car they tell you EXACTLY what you get and what you will be charged if you exceed that. I have coverage under my own insurance so I don't have to pay for that, just had to email a copy of that part of my policy to verify. They are VERY efficient with each renter and have great, up to date cars that are CLEAN I only had one problem with the smoking fee because unbeknownst to me two people had smoked in the car (because it was cold) a night but they paid for it and I can't REALLY complain. I was advised of the fee and it was paid for. Prices are great. Staff friendly. They try their best to have you in and out quickly. Can contact via email or phone (calling is faster of course). Definitely my go to rental company from now on. Will be renting again next week!

Tried to rent from the Mississauga location and was put on hold three different times for over a half hour each time at which point I hung up and sent e mails complaining. The reply to the e mails was "Try now". Told them I wanted a reply from a manager. Got a call from someone call Mike who told me he was a manager and put me on hold three different times but did get back. I told him about the poor customer service and he just kept cutting me off saying "thats not helpful, lets move forward" and "Why don't you rent from someone else" He told me he was very busy and had three students return to school, and 1 person on his honeymoon. He said he didn't have any small cars or much left but would try and make me happy, and that he would get back to me about a rental later in the day. Mike never did, but Paul eventually did while I was out. I took Mike's advise and rented elsewhere. No customer service and no guarantees even if you get a quote. Epic fail

DO NOT rent a car at this place! A lot of extra fees and overchargings. Telling you your credit card doesn't cover some insurance that are covered at ALL other rental places. They gave me a Mazda 3 and told me the gas is full but actually it was one bar less. And then when you found out all the extra fees and you want to cancel the rental, there's a 30 dollar cancellation fee. Sucks!

Rented a 12 passenger van from here for a period of less than 24 hours. Plans changed and I had to cancel, which I did a week in advance. I was charged 2 days of rental, plus an after hours pickup charge as I was originally needing to pick up after close. I understand the terms included a clause for full payment on van rentals, but they went over and above to charge me an extra day of rental + late pickup charge for a vehicle I never ended up using. Poor business practice and will never consider renting from there again.

Although I thought I had paid my rental cost beforehand using my credit card, when I got to this supplier (Zoom Rent A Car), they told me I owed them 100s of dollars in cash as insurance payment. Given that I am new in Canada, the staff repeatedly tried to intimidate me saying that it would be illegal if I didn't buy their expensive insurance. The insurance payment I ended up paying them in cash was easily more than the cost of renting the car itself. It would have been cheaper to fly to my destination. Why wasn't I told about this mandatory insurance cost up front when I was comparing online prices? If this cost was included up-front, I would never have selected this place. No wonder this place is just a shady two bit operation that doesn't even have its own toilet. Go for the big players (Hertz, etc) instead.

1- The manager of this car rental company is very rude! 2- The price shown in their website seems to be less than any other prices, however, when you get there they add a mandatory extra insurance (about 10$) to the total price. So there is no point to get a car from this irreputable company. 3- They never trust the customers and they charge your credit card for about $600 to make sure that you bring the car back. 4- The worst thing is that their cars' millage is limited to 200km inside Ontario which is irregular against other companies like Alamo. Take into account that it takes 80-100km to go to the downtown Toronto from there and then come back to return the car. So you have only 100km left to enjoy the car. 5- They ask lots of questions while they are filling the application form. It takes 15-20mins to listen to their bullshits and sign every places that they ask. 6- Once you arrive at Terminal 1, it takes 30min to 45min to get there. Because first you have to find the monorail to viscount station with the waiting time of 10min. Then you have to wait 20min for the shuttle bus. After all it takes 10-15min to get that dessert by the shuttle bus.

Glad to see the reviews on google be accurate for once! Naz, and the team are honest, personable and accommodating, despite how busy they always seem to be! They're hard workers and make every effort for you to smoothly transition into one of their rentals! I'm not sure about some of the other reviews, but if you go in with a good attitude and are willing to meet the staff I guarantee you won't be disappointed. The fleet is up to date, clean, and every rental has that new car smell. First, the cost to rent a Dodge Caravan for 4 days, with 2 underage drivers (24 years old), and to go out of province (Ontario) was $586.00. They wanted to add a $400 deposit when we were paying and they tried to charge us $1200. Even if it's just a deposit, that's not what we agreed on and it just felt plain scam-ish. We had to ask "Why is it $1200? It shouldn't come to more than $1000." Their response was as dry and rude as their service (no words, just eyes rolling). My friends and I (7 people in total) rented to go on a road trip from Toronto to Montreal to visit some other friends. When we got the van it was very dingy (crumbs on the seats and the windows were so dirty). We noticed the "check tire pressure" light was on but the people said "Dodge Caravans light up often and it doesn't usually mean anything." Unfortunately, it did mean something this time because we got a flat tire towards the end of our trip. We pulled over 500m from an exit when we noticed there was something wrong. From where we pulled over we could see a gas station right off the exit. In order to change the tire we pulled out to the gas station and attempted to change the tire. Luckily there was a mechanic passing by and offered us his help. He changed the tire for us and evaluated the tire. He said there was no nail, no puncture - it was just very worn. He said a tire in this condition should not have been rented to 7 people, especially if they were on an out-of-province road trip. We returned the car back the next day and explained everything that happened. An employee came out to check it out. We showed how worn the tire was and he acknowledged that it was worn and he couldn't see any nails, punctures etc. on the tire. He explained that if the evaluation shows that we had no fault, and it was in fact due to the worn tire, we would only be charged around $20 for replacement costs. They sent it to an affiliated mechanic and let us know that "It was not the customers' fault" and they will only be charging us for minor repairs. The next day they billed us $290.68 for the tire replacement. We asked why it was so much and then they changed their word and said that there was a huge puncture on the tire and it was "unrepairable" and completely obliterated. We asked for a picture because the mechanic, the employee and the 7 of us had all apparently missed the huge hole. They sent us a picture of a completely different tire with a noticeable damage. We refused to pay because, bluntly put, we were being scammed. We argued that the tire was and that was their fault for not maintaining the car properly. We reminded them that the day we got the van we brought it to their attention that the "check tire pressure" light was on and they ignored it and allowed us to drive a full van of people over 600km. They stuck to their argument that Dodge Caravans commonly light up and nobody ever checks it. We argued that it mattered in this case and they put 7 people's lives in danger by renting out a faulty vehicle. Their response was "You are entitled to your opinion". In the end we got charged a total of $876.68. Besides renting out faulty vehicles, their customer service is absolutely appalling. They cannot maintain a logical and reasonable conversation. I am an educated professional and aim to maintain a mature, classy and socially attractive self. We tried our best to speak professionally and logically... I have to say I have never met harder people to get through to. The communication between the employees and the employer, the employee and the customers, the employer and the customers are all substantially lacking. Their stories changed from one day to another and from person to person. They like to roll their eyes if they have nothing to say. By far the worst experience in customer service in our lives and we are going out of our way to make sure that no one ever has to experience such misfortune. If not that, their vehicles are not properly maintained and present a serious possibility of a tragic accident.

I am a local, and a needed a rental for few days. I shopped around and found zoom. They had the best deal by far than any one else(besides airport) in the west end. I was actualy surprised to find a deal like that off airport. So I completed the order over the net. I went to pick up the vehicle, but there was a misunderstanding with the insurance. After awhile the employee provided me a solution I could live with. A bit of a wait but its ok. Also a bit more customer service would be nice. I got an upgrade for free with out me even knowing, and I had a very pleasant experience with the vehicle. When I returned the car It was a total different experience. I was treated like a star by a new individual(Micheal). Over all the experience was great and usually that's not the case with rental companies.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, esp business or frequent travelers. I waited 45 minutes for the shuttle, after being told it would be 15 minutes. That put us in rush hour. So it was another 45 minutes before I got the car. I missed a meeting and dinner that evening. They told me to bring it back around half full. Upon return, I was 1-2 liters (half a gallon) below half, and they insisted I go to a gas station and put $3 of gas in the car, before they would accept the return. Not a customer oriented place at all. Never again will I rent here.

I was charged $1060.08 for a small scratch on the car bumper after returning the car, which was caused sometime when I had the car parked. They claim that's the amount estimated in the repair invoice. As per "professional appraisal", a 2 inch line scratch on the bumper would cost 1060 CAD to be repaired (including disassembly of said bumper for some reason). Where else in the world would a scratch like this cost as much? Only at Zoom. Hack company, working with fake appraisal company, to rip off and scam clients, and in the end their cars aren't even fixed. Whenever you rent you will see the scratches and bumps from previous customers, which Zoom charges thousands for fixing but never do. Also their shuttle is always late, makes you wait more than 20 minutes, operator on the phone is rude, and lies and says driver waited for you for so and so long. Their office location is more than 20 minutes away from the airport, which isn't mentioned when you book online. They charge your card after 2 weeks after you've returned the car, for whatever reason they might come up with, without any authorization from you. Lastly their employees are rude, roll their eyes when you have an inquiry, and then either reply too fast and say "policy" or don't give you a straight answer at all. Save your money and sanity, and stay away from Zoom car rental.

Most horrible experience I have ever had for car rental . Read the other bad reviews before booking as lot of ppl been scammed by them so far!! They charged us for whole day when I was 10 minutes late . Also they charged us for unothorized 2nd drive coz one of us drove from the gAs station to their office which is 50 m. When we refused to pay that amount they just went ahead and charged the card anyway . Complete extortion and we have now lodged an unothorized charge with our credit card company . All in all horrible horrible experience. Stay away, the so called “cheap” rate isn’t worth it.

I won’t rent a car again from here anymore. You will need to buy their insurance package because they don’t accept your own insurance. The vehicle condition was terrible. Irregular vibration continued to occur while I was driving with the car. They offered me more mileage, but not helpful at all because my mileage was already with the limit.

Do not rent here. Decent staff but I booked on Booking.com which clearly said unlimited mileage on the ad and in the Ts and Cs. Upon renting they said, "no, it's only 200km a day". I showed them the Ts and Cs, they didn't budge. Cost me 3 hours of a 36 hour trip. Followed up several times for a refund, no communication. 0 stars, do not recommend. UPDATE: Still no response. UPDATE 29/09/21 They still refuse to accept responsibility for their false advertising, whether it was deliberate or not. I didn't take the car that day but they're trying to keep my money. Update 30/09/21. When I went to the "Mex" location it was a Zoom location so I assume you're linked? No matter, Booking.com has now arranged a refund. thank you booking.com. The rest of my review stands though.

Do NOT use this company. I knew it was cheap because they were not at the airport but they don't even send a shuttle directly there, they expect you to ride the airport shuttle to an outlying station first. OK, I could handle that. But they are only open during "business hours." And while my rental reservation stated I would be dropping off the car after that they never mentioned to me that the office would be closed. I had no way to get to the airport and had no idea what to do with the car so I had to pay $150 to change my reservation and $60 for a hotel room. When I called their "emergency" number I got a recording. What would happen if I had an accident? If the car broke down? You really get what you pay for, do NOT do business with this crappy outfit.

The great price, amazing service, and fantastic staff let me use their clean cars and I am always satisfied. They are definitely the number one independently owned car rental place in Toronto. I even contacted the manager to purchase one of their vehicles and they guided me in the right direction and got me the best deal in town!!! It was straight from the dealer. Nobody else does that, I SAVED A TON OF MONEY! At the end of the day, I bought the staff lunch and brought a bottle of liquor as appreciation. I know this post is public and I say it is how it is. I know how important true reviews are and I really hope competitors can take notice on how to service their customers properly.

Overall it was a good experience, had a couple of hitches as they said when I got there that I don't qualify for their insurance because of the car I wanted on g2, kind of upsetting because honestly they never wrote that on the website or anywhere. All they said was valid drivers license. Thankfully Expedia had me covered since I used them to book the car and opted for the insurance at that time, so even though the company refused to give me insurance on that car with a g2; Expedia did. Wouldn't use a 3rd party if they could offer the same stuff because the company overall is nice, I don't like 3rd parties dipping into their profits. It was a nice experience, nothing too rough like the reviews suggested, just make sure you take pictures of any prior damage. The company will simply ask you for the pictures you took and no hassle incase anything comes up. I was scared at first when I got an email from them but then I showed them the inspection pictures like they requested and they quickly apologized and thanked me for the clarification. Would use them again despite the hiccups :)

Fraudulent scammers. Everyone that is talking about fraud is correct, the owner just sits here and writes positive reviews all day. We just rented a 12-seater van for a week for an international robotics competition, return it and they accuse us of cracking the rear bumper. Then they change the story and say we cracked the side panel as well as repainted it? Come on guys, you could have fooled us with the first part, but the repainting is really what gave you away. Before we took the van we pointed out the scratches to the employee who was inspecting the vehicle and he said he took note of it which he clearly did not. We will be taking further action on Zoom Rent A Car as they have billed us $815, after the $1500 deductible for bumper repairs. We suggest everyone else suffering a similar experience to take legal action, as well as file a complaint to the Ontario Consumer Protection, whom already have numerous complaints on this company.

I have been renting through Avis and Enterprise rental car for over 6 years for business. A couple of days ago, my wife needed a last min rental and all other rent a cars close shop between 6-7pm. Zoom was the only one open till 10. When returning the car, my wife dropped it at the gas station in the same parking lot at Zoom and took off as she had to rush somewhere. I filled up gas and returned the car. Thats when all hell broke loose as they started crying over the fact that someone else "drove" the car besides the designated driver and said that its a "Breach of Contract" and they have to fine me $500! I have done returns of these sorts for years at all other major rental locations and as long as the car is returned in the condition they were rented in, they just take the keys, charge the CC and thats that! I had contacted them a year ago and tried to book with them. They informed me (and everyone) over the phone that the mileage was unlimited and states that online as well. After I showed up there, thats when they mention that the mileage is only unlimited IF you fly into town. Else its only 200kms/day. These LEECHES just want to suck whatever they can on any opportunity they can exploit. DO NOT RENT with these guys as you never know how they will screw you over!

The price you're pulled in with, doubles by the time you're at check out. Multiple tiny fees which the staff was not able to really explain to me. The 5% less off any price matching also is a bit of a gimmick. When I inquired, the staff got quite defensive and said it was under very specific circumstances and it has to be from certain large rental places and ultimately subject to availability of their cars - not realising that I already had a confirmed car booked :D Renting itself was alright. Unfortunately the car wasn't as clean as I would have hoped... I only rent from here because it saves me from going deep into the airport - eventhough I was charged airport handling fees at this location! (It's on main Dixie!)

The attitude is lackadaisical. We were told the shuttle would be waiting for us at Viscount Station. It wasn't. We called and were told the car rental place was only 5 min from there and the van would arrive shortly. It didn't. We called again. Finally it came about 25 minutes after we arrived at the station.The van driver provided no assistance whatever in getting the luggage into the van. On the return trip, we asked about which terminal we would be flying out of. The driver said she knew nothing about the subject. She also pointedly refused to assist with stowing the luggage, which was a problem because the van had so little capacity. Several of the passengers were really struggling to get their luggage in. And several of us ended up holding luggage on our laps. Not a terrible service, but not a very good one either. Somewhat lacking in the service ethic. Build extra time into your schedule if you use it.

The company delayed with the returning the deposit. I returned the car and was told my deposit will be returned to me within 5 working days. I had to keep chasing them through the booking company and eventually got my money back after over a month! Although I subsequently received an email from the company owner explaining that this was due to international banking standards. Apart from this the experience was good. I got delayed at the airport and it went past the last shuttle service time but a young lady at the office ensured that the shuttle bus waited for me. Once at their office the experience was seamless and the car that they provided was good. The return experience was pretty quick as well. Reading previous reviews I was initially a bit worried but this worked out overall a good experience. You cannot beat them on price!

This Company is the worst car rental agency that I ever experienced in my life, why are they still in business??? This company over booked for rentals during Christmas when we paid a security deposit to hold our reservation ( this doesn't make sense) therefore, we were transferred to a different company (and had to pay a little bit more ). Their online quotes are COMPLETELY MISLEADING. After I made a reservation and went to pick it up all the up in Mississauga from Downtown Toronto, they were quoting me $200 more than the reservation quote: 1. They wouldn't accept my credit card insurance and were forcing me to buy theirs. I'm a frequent renter and have rented with many companies and never seen this behaviour before. 2. It was not unlimited miles as advertised on the online reservation. They were charging me extra $ / mile for my trip. It was so ridiculous, I ended up going to a different rental agency close by and paid a $100 less, even though it was last minute. Any business is allowed to have any policy; but it is extremely annoying and bad customer experience if you lie or omit to mention important details on online platforms and then force the customer to pay at pickup time. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE GUYS.

Also, allowing for returning and frequent customer rates and/or a points system that customers can redeem those points to offset your rental costs. And, the insurance should be optional both liability and collision based on your credit card coverage or just the choice of the customer to refuse coverage.

Really good service by the staff. I rent vans from here all the time, they provide the best prices and also try to give you the best bang for the buck (no up sell of additional insurance etc.). Both Mike and Naz are great to deal with and really focus on customer service. Only feedback would be to service and maintain the cars better. I recently rented a van but the windshield sprayer wasn't working (it was snowing that day so really needed it to keep the windshield clean) and the fluid was just leaking from under the car, so I called in and they asked me to comeback and switch the car right away. The van i switched for had the tire pressure light on and even though i asked the lady working there about it, she said it was fine and that the light just needed a reset. I filled air in the tires myself and the light went away. Apart from that hiccup, ive always had a good experience with these guys.

Very bad service don't trust the google rating since the owner are always using fake account to make it 4.0 . you can check by yourself how many google user wrote reviews with a 5 stars just to increase the rating. I read all the 1 star review and mostly all of them are accurate. I had a very bad experience with this car rental from few months back when you search online you found they have the best price but actually they have the most expensive car rental compared to all over Toronto. Don't be tricked like me since when you book online they got your credit card number and when you show up in their places the price will be much higher since you are obliged to take their insurance which they will tell you ohhh this is not added to the price and when you ask them i booked for that amount they will show the contract they sent you by email where T&C apply with a very very small sentence you cannot read that you have to pay for insurance and end up paying double the price of any popular car rental agency.

The staff is very rude, specially a guy called Naz. I called few days before my renting day asking some questions about if that was the final price, unlimited km, etc. Their answer was: I am busy, I can't talk. However, even though he said that the website price is the final price, I got charge $9 for an extra insurance and the km was limited up to 200km. Also the car had a loooot of scratches. GO WITH THE BIG COMPANIED AND AVOID SURPRISES! This company sucks.

I rent a car on this store and I had a parking penalty. When I returned the car to make the check out, I wanted to pay the penalty and I was advised by the person who was doing the checklist to pay by internet and I paid the penalty by web site. After two months, I had a another debt in I my credit card paying again, this new debit from the store. I paid the same penalty two times, one from website and other from the store. This is not fair!!! I tried to call the store several times and no one help me to resolve this issue. I won’t never rent a car on this store again!!!

These people are thugs. Falsely accusing and harassing us consistently by phone for more money weeks after the initial transaction took place. Make sure you take pictures OF ANY VEHICLE YOU BORROW BEFORE YOU RENT IT OUT because these people will falsely accuse you of damages that you did not commit. Recently rented a car from ZOOM /Nu at Calgary International Airport. It was extremely easy and efficient! We were given 2 or 3 types of Suvs to choose from. We had a question and Max immediately jumped in and helped us. He answered our question and made us feel like we were the only people there. He went out of his way to make our reservation special and ensure we would have a great car rental! Checking out and in were both easy and fast! We weren't able to easily get gas on the way back to the location and but there was a gas station right behind the rental location which was very convenient. Someone checked us in within a minute of us returning. We were very pleased with having someone help us load our luggage into the shuttle when we returned. The entire process from end to end was fast and efficient. The car rental was nice and we would highly recommend using them as we will be using them again!

I'm very reluctant about renting cars. To me it's a necessary evil in cities without viable public transportation. Arrived at Toronto with reservation at another car rental company, to be unnamed. Was picked up at the airport after a very long wait and arrived at an office that seem very fly-by-night. Was very uncomfortable about handing my credit card over. Should've checked reviews at the time of booking, so did a quick google search at that time and was horrified by reviews that substantiated my gut feeling. After an arduous trek back to the airport, google search the other rental options available from the airport rental car call box. Called Zoom. They have good reviews, but still had my reservations. Got an awesome rate for a week long rental. Very clean car. Professional and forthright personnel. Even advanced me their insurance coverage so I can sort out what my credit card covers and what my personal auto insurance will cover. They were upfront about potential charges. At the end we paid exactly what was quoted. Love visiting Toronto and would certainly be back. And I would absolutely rent from Zoom again.

They get 1 star, only because of the main manager who did his best to rectify my situation. I booked online, the agent sent me a link to book through zoom, promising me unlimited mileage (up to 3000kms in Ontario). After completing my booking and paying in person, I was then told it was only 400km. Double check how much mileage you’re paying for prior to paying. I disputed. This rose to a loud back and forth argument with the manager. Very unprofessional. I have a video recording of the incident and I threatened to send it to the news station and share online. I requested a refund and cancellation. I was denied this right because... and I quote “you are disrespectful and rude customer”. It is my right to cancel a reservation by law and they cannot hold my money. That’s illegal. Essentially I was being told, I MUST take the car and there’s nothing they’re going to do about it. Another manager came to rectify the situation. Scolding his employees for poor service. I was refunded, not sure if my deposit was returned yet. If you’re reading this. The 1 star is for the ethics of the rude manager with poor customer service. I will admit I was furiously angered, as would anyone. Another manager resolved the issue. Yet I still will never book from Zoom again. I cannot trust the business. I booked another car immediately through the airport for less cost with no hassle. Book with Avis, budget, hertz, enterprise at the Airport. It is safer.

As per many other reviews, the biggest problem with Zoom is that they force you to get insurance and then make sure they can find some damage that you didn't do and get your insurance to cover it. They did inspection and I didn't personally check under the vehicle. Upon returning we found some scratches underneath the front bumper. I never once touched a curb or speed bump so damage was definitely there before. I am used to driving cars with low fronts. While i was returning the car, another customer had the same issue with them. Credit card insurance was charged about $800. Also due to flight delay had to show up 1 hour after they closed. They charged $60 CASH for this, couldn't put it on the credit card. Seems sketchy. Also $60 is a bit steep considering they were clearly open and had 3 people there. Overall good vehicle, customer service, etc. but seems like a scam with the insurance and then finding uninspected damage after the fact. Read other reviews - same story. DON'T RENT HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT A HEADACHE

1st, They will force you to buy insurance, and refuse to use your credit card insurance. the sales person always use words like" this is the regulation in toronto or ontario" " your credit card insurance dose not cover third party liability" and " you can call your credit card right now" to make you buy thier insurance. no options. Other rental car companies in toronto dose not have same/similar requirement. this is soly happend in Zoom rent a car. 2nd, they will charge your credit card after you return your rental car. they have already inspected your car when they return but thats not your final bill. after a month or two you will see addtional charge in your credit card and they will say ' we find a damage' 3rd, this is outside of airport, yes the price is cheaper online compare to other rental companies, but you end up paying way more!!! I dont know why this kind of business can be exist, unethical, unprofessional. Please do not use Zoom rent a Car.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. We had to rent a car for 24 hours while our car was in the garage and rented from here because it was the only place that had last minute rentals available. First of all, they claim to be 5 minutes from the airport and are closer to 15-20 minutes past (in GOOD traffic). Picking up the car was fine, although there seemed to be some disgruntled customers in the office at the time. We did a walk around the car with one of the employees who was extremely laissez-faire about it and barely looked at the car. We examined it and determined that it was fine. Upon returning the car, the exact same person who looked it over when renting it to us came out to look at it again. This time he brought a flashlight with him, kicked snow off the bumper and got down on his hands and knees to examine under the car. No surprise - they found a small scratch. We went into the office and argued that there was no way it could have gotten scratched, it was driven for all of one hour to and from work that day and there were no altercations. After being quite aggressive and rude with us when we disputed the fact that we could have scratched it they tried to reassure us that because had rented under a VISA gold credit card, we were covered and they would go through that insurance to have it covered. We have read other reviews and found this exact same story and will be reporting it to the Better Business Bureau. Clearly they do this all the time and this is how they make their money back after renting at lower costs than the other major companies. There were several other customers in the office at the time of drop off who were also upset with some part of the service they were receiving. I strongly suggest you save yourself the hassle and rent with a more trustworthy and ethical company that won't be as sleazy and underhanded as this one.

Following my on-line booking with Zoom, I read several negative reviews of negative Zoom experiences. Needless to say, I was nervous about my rental experience, especially with the low rental rate (compared to the larger rental companies). I read the contract thoroughly and could find no difference from the usual contracts that I had signed at other rental agencies. The only negative in my Zoom rental was the car that we used had a engine light on from the moment we rented it, we were several miles away from the airport when we first noticed it. A check with a mechanic resulted in no problem, the light however remained on throughout our rental. The staff at Zoom was courteous and the rental was a good experience, I would definitely rent from Zoom again. I thanked the agent and promised a good review on line.

Rented us a car with AN EXPIRED LICENSE which caused us to get a ticket. As well as had to re-print And re-pay for a parking permit for the week. Luckily they said they would cover the ticket we got, and reembursed us the fee for the permit. But In order to fix this and not risk being pulled over by police for driving with an expired license we had to waste a day to travel all the way from Scarborough to Mississauga. We got given a new car with a proper license but they didn’t even give us a discount for their lack of professionalism and the hassle they caused us. We didn’t get charged for the gas we used but the gas we used anyways was to get there to have the situation fixed. Absolutely ridiculous. EDIT: Issue got resolved. The owner was nice enough to contact us shortly after we wrote this review. He was sympathetic towards the situation and was able to offer a discount for the inconvenience. He also sent me an email confirming the final price.

SCAMMERS. The prices are set low on purpose because staff pressure you to buy unnecessary insurance. My credit card covered Ontario's mandatory insurance, yet the staff would not rent to me unless I bought additional insurance for $25/day or called my personal car insurance on Saturday at 5:00 pm (they know insurance is not open). Based on my experience, DO NOT RENT with these guys because they WILL turn a $200/week rental to an almost $500 rental. They especially love tourists because tourists don't know any better. Which tourist is going to call their home country's car insurance? In my 20 minutes there, they used the same speech on two tourists, who after a long flight gave in to DOUBLING THEIR RENTAL COST. Where is a poor tourist going to go if they refuse to rent? Complete fraud. I rented again with a different company for $30 more and they did not harass me. Checked local laws, and they only require you to have 3rd party coverage (which your credit card insurance DOES cover). I'm surprised there isn't a way to file official complaints against these crooks. PAY A COUPLE MORE DOLLARS AND RENT ELSE WHERE. CALL AHEAD AND DEMAND TO KNOW IF ANY OTHER B***S*** INSURANCE IS MANDATORY. If they say YES, then don't bother.

*Update* So, I called again last week and spoke with an representative. She told me that she will check again and get back to me. Again, no response. My rental number is 93807. I will not waste my time calling again. If you want to credit me the $50, do it. When I picked up the car, the gas tank was only 1/8 full. The shop representative told me to fill it up myself and she would mark it down. I returned the car on March 30 with just less of 1/2 tank of gas which should be more than enough. Two days after, I got charged an extra $50 on my credit card. I called the shop on April 3 and spoke with a representative by the name Shannon. Told her the story, and she said she would get back to me. I never got a response from her. I called again on April 8 and spoke with a representative by the name of Naz. Told him the whole story, and he said he would get back to me. Again, I never got a response. Overall, the car is new even it is quite dirty with garbage in the car when I pick it up. Other people may had better experiences, but this is my experience which is not very well.

If you break down, they expect you to tow the vehicle to the dealer for service and wait while it gets fixed. Two, they are not a 24 hour operation. After 9 PM you are on your own. I strongly suggest using the vehicle in the GTA only so you don't get stranded. Four stars for price (almost half price of the national chains), one star for roadside service and three stars for customer service. Summary, cheap but use for GTA only so you can exchange your rental if there is a problem.

But at return I was pointed at it and a bit confused coz I'm extremely careful driver. Thou Max (a guy at the counter) checked this damage and figured out that this scratch is old and not my fault. I write in praise of off-airport car rental agencies broadly but Zoom in particular. I've been a regular customer here for about a decade. The big attraction is price -- it's ridiculously less than what you'd pay at Pearson or even downtown. But truly, the service is fantastic. No fuss no muss and always friendly. Same cars you get anywhere else. What's not to like? I've had zero issues in all this time. They're even open Sundays (while most downtown rental agencies are closed). All of the above is why I always go back. Some people fret about having to take a shuttle -- it'll cost you 15 minutes but save you a bundle.

I have used Zoom twice in the past year when in town for a trade show. The value is excellent when combined with great price and satisfactory service. The only issue I had was from my first visit when it took about 45 minutes to be picked up from the airport. The driver I had was very friendly and very safe. She drive me to Zoom on both occasions. Also during my first visit, I rented a car and did not notice the wind-shield had a crack. I drove it back to Zoom and informed them and they amended the condition report. When they did this, I became a customer for life. From my standpoint, Zoom and the team are fair and professional. No issues to report on my most recent rental. It was very uneventful, which is always a good thing.

We were a group of seven who flew in Calgary for a ten day visit in Banff. We rented a van from Zoom. We were pleasantly surprised with how fast the process went (we had reserved the van in advance online months prior). My kids decided on a van in the lot and within minutes we were loaded up and on our way. The van was perfect for our needs. It was very clear that it was newer and we'll maintained. We drove from Banff to jasper on our third day in Alberta and it was easier because of the familiarity of driving the van (I have a Dodge Grand caravan at home). In our ten days we only had to fill the van one time (we opted to prepay for the full tank when we first arrived). We had a great visit in Canada and were happy to find that returning the van was just as seem less and easy. I appreciate the entire process and how smoothly it all went. I will definitely be using Zoom again in our future trips to Calgary and Toronto. Thank you for making our trip a bit easier.

We've rented a card with an international credit card. It's been already more than 25 business days and they still haven't unblocked our deposit for the car. First they said that it takes 14 or more business days to unblock, and after that the days increased to 30. That's pretty disappointing since we're talking like for 1000 dolars. It's not so much, but it's also not like 100 dolars.

This is the first time I rent from "Off airport rental Car in Toronto". My experience is very good. Staff is very friendly. Their rate is very reasonable compared with the car companies at the airport. With little inconvenience to take two shuttles to reach their office, it is worth the savings. They gave me brand new Mazda with 28 Km. on it that they received the same day. We booked with them because of their cheap and competitive prices out of all the car rental companies near or at the airport. Bad experience when u make your search you think you find the cheapest price and you think your lucky and after you are obliged to make the reservation made your reservation using you credit card coz you have no choice to pay at the counter and when you reach there they will charge you for an insurance obligatory even if your credit card cover the rental and when I told them I need to cancel I don't want the deal anymore they will simply answer you need to pay penalty which is the whole rental so I had to take the car and pay addition obliged insurance and ended up paying more than other rental companies so it is not true if you made your search and found a cheap price because it is just a trick and you have to pay more and not allowed to cancel or they will charge you the cancellation. Also I wasn't satisfied at all of how they deal with the customer. They put a 500 $ on hold on your credit card for 1 week which is the highest rate in all Canada I think. I was renting with many companies I had to pay a pre authorization of 100$ only and not 500$ so this made me ask myself many questions. Bad experience I would never go there again.

When I was looking for a car on the website, I did a search for Calgary International Airport (easy for us after flying) and it displayed Thrifty, Alamo, Avis, ...and Zoom. But when I arrived at the airport, all the other companies were present except... Zoom! Zoom is located around 4-5km from the airport. So I had no choice to call them to pick us up at the airport with a shuffle, to go the company location: Unbelievable. We lost 45min! When I wanted to have my car as booked, the person from Zoom asked for my car insurance file number because he said my insurance via my credit card was not enough. I didn't understand why because usually with other companies my visa is enough. But the person didn't want to understand. He wanted the proof. I didn't have them with me, of course. So he told me I had one day to call him back with my insurance reference; if not he would have charged us almost 10CAD / day (6 days trip). This is the first time this happens to me with a rental company. So we decided to stop this ridiculous booking and to cancel it, to go back to the airport and to book a car with another company; to be faster, cheaper and without any issue like this for sure. We asked the person from Zoom to bring us back to the airport. He agreed but with a fee!! Seriously!? So we decided to take a taxi and pay again... We arrived at the airport and booked a car with Alamo. It took 15min to pay, sign and have the key!m for an SUV instead of a compact (no added charge)! No issue, really fast and efficient!

I had rented a SUV for 4 days from Zoom Car rental during long weekend of Canada day. Obviously the rental was at higher side due to high demand. However they have given me a brand new Honda CRV which has done only 25 kilometres. My experience on booking the car through their portal was excellent. They had handled my email queries related to Licence requirement for renting the car efficiently. Unlike another car rental company near Toronto airport, this company accept Canada G2 licence for car rental. When I reached their office to collect the vehicle, the entire process has not even took 15 minutes from filling application till handing over they key of the car. Sameway returning thetcar also done in 10 minutes time. The executive who had handled my request was very helpful and true professional. Couple of minus points I have noticed are the requirement of buying additional 3rd party insurance for each rental days. Wish this could have been optional. Also not sure why there is a restriction of 200 KM within province, where it is mentioned unlimited in the booking form. Anyway, I am giving 5 star rating for this engagement and looking forward for next rental...

Tajinder Singh (one of the front advisor) has made my rental experience smooth and best ever! Due to policy change on my credit card, I had some issues and I was stuck in a bad situation. However, Tajinder has stepped in and went above and beyond to help me fix my problem. I'd absolutely NOT recommend this place. It just looks cheap but ends up expensive renting from here. My rental car here broke down. It just wont' start and these people asked me to get it to their rental place so they can replace it. There best response was "Leave the car. We will collect it later. We are busy at the moment". I was able to figure out the problem and managed to drive it down as I was close. Next up, they (again) gave me car at less than 3/4 fuel level and I was surprised when the attendant asked me to fill up the gas to same random level. Common dude! there is a gas station right next to you. At least fill it up to full tank! Not to mention that there is always 15 min wait and people here fighting over insurance. I had my share of troubles with them over insurance. This is far from airport and other rental agencies. So you're stuck if you rented here.

Customer Service is not good.I booked a Dodge caravan for a day trip and i was assisted by an gentleman from Zoom called Mak/Magan at Dixie road location.he was not very friendly.First of all i was late for a car pick up and still the pick up car was not ready.I requested him to give me another car as i already waited for 20 minutes,instead of offering a stand by car he was telling me to wait for some more time .he started arguing that since i was late ,i can wait for another 30 minutes.the car was not clean.totally i was not happy with the experience.I would stay away from them.I was also told that within the province we have unlimited miles while booking but the day of renting i was told its only 200 kms/day and unlimited for non Ontario residents.

Worst service***. Didn't get the car we were promised. Said unlimited but Ontario drivers had a 200kms restriction (then why do you have to say unlimited). Had to drive with a huge crack on the windshield because they didn't have a replacement (Asked the dealer for replacement in return he comments "It's just a crack, it's not as if the windshield would shatter away or something"). I wouldn't give more than a star for their horrible service and decietful marketing. I would advise to take caution before renting with them. Better avoid.

If I could give this place no stars at all, I would. Terrible, do not rent here at all! First of all the customer service is ridiculous and the lady at the counter is VERY rude and unprofessional, I heard her talk to not only myself but others on the phone with such hostility, it was embarrassing! I turned up at the designated time, with all my documents and was asked for insurance. I opted not to take the extra insurance and was rudely told 'All rental places in Toronto require insurance, if you are not taking the insurance we provide and you do not have your own, we won't be renting you the car' Next I was told "This information is on the website you should have checked it before you came here' Now, I rent cars within Toronto, almost ever week and I go through the same procedure each time, never have I been spoken to in such a way and never have I been FORCED to take extra insurance, if I don't want it! The original cost of the car rental was $200, surprise surprise with the insurance the cost then went up to $479. A SIGNIFICANT difference! Please also bare in mind that even if you do have your own insurance, there is still a daily surcharge of $8! Also, be aware that this place is NOT near the airport at all and is in actual fact quite a drive away! Save yourself the stress and do not rent here! They are a very small rental place (in their words) and they seem to make up their own rules. I am ver surprised and annoyed! NEVER AGAIN!!!! Even their response to this honest review was passive aggressive. Oh dear... customer service training perhaps? Unfortunate that many others reviews pertaining to this company, are very similar to mine. Save yourself any issues and rent from a reputable car rental place instead. Enterprise always have great rates, nice vehicles and excellent customer service! :-)

We rented a car from Zoom and loved the whole experience. The shuttle picked us up and a courteous driver dropped us off at the rental car location. We were off quickly with a very new, clean car. After 3 days we returned it and the polite young fellow thanked us for keeping the car so clean. We were then taken by shuttle to the departure area for our flight home. The price was amazingly low and we would recommend Zoom to anyone. We are returning to Toronto at the end of the month and will certainly be renting a car from Zoom. Have a SUPER Day!

HORRIBLE!! This company kept unlawfully charging my credit card WITHOUT MY PERMISSION as they had it on file. They kept threatening me for $5 and escalated to $60 without reason. My credit card company is now filing for many disputes with Zoom. They were bullying me even though I paid my amount and since they had hold of my credit card, they used that against me. RENT ELSEWHERE!!! The customer service men there were not helpful and did not even try to accommodate a $5 charge. What a DESPERATE COMPANY. You'd think during these times, companies would have the decency not to up charge a client for no reason.

Overall, my experience with Zoom car rent was not that good. My family from Korea rented a car from this car rental company. At the first time when my family started renting, a clerk in the company said little scratches will not cost any extra cost. But when my family returned the car we rented out, another clerk said there was a little dent and he tried to charge money from the tiny dent. Also, the car company did not clean and repair dents on the cars that they were renting out. Moreover, there were no choices of insurances that could cover all expenses of accidents for international customers. The best option was the insurance covering when an accidents costs more than 2000 dollars and the customers have to pay up to 2000 dollars.

Delayed flight on a Sunday. Naz stayed well past closing hours to pick me up and still get the car rental for me. There was an additional charge- but seeing how it was 2.5hrs past closing time on a Sunday; more than reasonable, and it saved me hundreds -instead of finding a last minute booking. Car was excellent, clean and easy to handle. The courtesy shuttle was excellent on the way to the airport; driver ran into the terminal to find me to give back the phone i left behind in the shuttle. Excellent service and would rent from them again.

They tried to do the same to us and we discovered that they are known for it. Liars and Cheats. THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE NOT IN THE INSURANCE COMPANIES PREFERRED LIST. They make fake reviews and post it online by themselves. They work in a FRAUD TRIANGLE -where they work together with the tow truck company, the body shop and their rental company and try to cheat the most money they can get from the insurance company and you as an individual. BEWARE! This company has lot's of hidden fees they do not advertise till you get to their location. $3000 + deductibles, so if you park your car in a parking lot and come back to find someone has dented your door. Guess what... their insurance only covers damage above $3000. The first $3000 is paid by your credit card, but they don't mention this unless you read the fine print on your own beforehand. Enterprise and Avis have either no deductible or a small one such as $200 CDN. And, no I wasn't in an accident, but stating an example that could take place for potential customers. Read the reviews of other users that did end up having to pay the $3000+ Don't get scammed out thinking the prices are low. They advertise lower prices to get to the top of most car rental websites. But, they make that money back through false damage claims. Read the other reviews...

I had a reso, showed up, waited 20 mins with 1 person in front of me watching the chaos all around me. I finally gave up and while standing in line booked with Alamo at the airport, just left and got a car instantly at Alamo for a bit more money but none of the stress and hassle associated with this place. I had a very bad experience this past week end when I reserved a car through Carrentals Website for three days at the rate of CAD 29/ day. When I returned the car one full day early, I was charged the full amount for three days surprisingly. The agent explained that this is their policy regarding early returns! Very strange. No other company would do that, based on my experience. I do not recommend this company though I had rented from them before. If you wish, you have to ask them to explain it to you and in writing as this is very different from other companies, so you know how it works with Zoom. Poor way of doing business. It is a shame. After my comment above o received a call from the company in Toronto. I explained the same and requested that they communicate with their corny their policy expressly and clearly. I consider their following up on this matter a sign that they care about their business, a positive point.

I was cautious renting after having seen a few very negative reviews however, I saw they were older so I went through with rental. Rented a 2020 Santa Fe with only about 27K km on it. Vehicle was very clean only thing I removed was that god awful air freshener as having allergies my eyes stung with that smell. Person signing me out saw a dent I didn't notice which was great as I would have been worried they would charge me if they saw that when I returned. If insurance was cheaper I think people would take it more often but I am covered under my own car insurance. Vehicle performed great. Tires were a little bald for winter but I didn't go anywhere when it snowed. After my week I returned the vehicle with no issues and had a great experience. I rent to get a good feel of a vehicle I am interested in buying and find this way to be much better than a quick test drive at a dealer. Being a local rental I will definitely consider renting again from zoom.

I rented a vehicle from them this past weekend. I had to travel to Ottawa. While I was driving on the 401 my front tire had a blow out. I was on the side of the highway in the dark. I called them up and I couldn't believe what they said. They said the were not gonna help me that it was my fault. This was not my fault at all. They were not gonna send anyone to help me. I needed to basically figure this out on my own. They told me to put the spare tire on and go to a shop and buy a new tire. Well I did go to a shop and bought a tire and installed it. But because it wasn't the same name brand tire they charged me $171 on top of the $120 tire I bought. The tire was the same size. These people and company are crooks and do not recommend anyone renting from them. I am not impressed with the customer service and charge. Very unprofessional and unacceptable. Make sure to go with a reliable company like enterprise for example. Like I said these people are crooks and will not help you if you are stranded. update.... zoom recently contacted me and wanted to make things right. they offered to pay for the new tire they charged me for at drop off. they sent me a cheque for $171. The tire I had to buy in Ottawa myself was never reimbursed. Hope this helps people out in the future.

On my last visit to Toronto my flight got cancelled and when I called them last minute they still gave me the car they promised me without any issues and gave me discount too. I watched other offsite rental shuttles pass by 3 times while I waited ! When I returned the car I was charged for a scratch . I let my guard down during the inspection. Huge hassle to access. Walk for 5 to 10 min to get on the train, to call for the shuttle to wait another 20 min for shuttle. The shuttle driver is reckless, speeds and is a danger on the road. Nothing but great things to say about my experience with these guys. Booked through expedia. Shuttle turned around at the airport to come back for me, took less than 10 minutes to set me up once arrived, brand new Hyundai Venue (as the cheapest option!). Spotless, full of gas. Went all around Toronto for 4x days and no issues with mileage. Returning vehicle just as painless, and shuttle to the airport was there waiting for me. Will rent directly from Zoom again next time :) Edit: forgot to mention, I called the next day thinking I had left something in the car, and they were fantastic about going to check the vehicle for me. Excellent customer service all around!

First time renting from this company...it's an off-airport location, and a little different from the big 5 (only 200 free km/day, for example). But rates were way lower, and I was very happy with the service and car (brand new). Located immediately next to a gas station so returning the car full was easy. Leave a little extra time, and pay attention to the signs at the counter, as these explain (very well) your various options. I will rent from them again, for sure!

Had the worst experience with Zoom today! Travelling with my 65 year old mother, sister in law, 4 year old daughter and 2 year old niece from Winnipeg. Had a van booked with 2 car seats. After waiting 30 minutes for the shuttle, we arrived at the office to a hectic and disorganized environment. People waiting to get or return their vehicles, arguing about payment and insurance. Listening to a staff yell/argue with someone on the phone (while “helping” a client at the desk). After waiting another 30 minutes, we were informed they had NO car seats and there was never a guarantee that they could give us car seats. This is ABSOLUTELY untrue. I was assured they would have 2 seats for us. If there was any chance we would arrive and there wouldn’t be seats available, we would have brought our own. They were rude, condescending and totally unhelpful. While waiting for them to refund our money, I booked another vehicle with Enterprise in a matter of minutes. Went back to the airport and had an AMAZING, stress free experience with enterprise. Never again ZOOM, never again.

Although I was apprehensive after reading some of the negative customer feedback, Naz and the other staff members at Zoom were a pleasure to deal with. Our car had a few scratches and dents but Naz recorded the damage and I photographed everything prior to leaving the lot. It had been a few years since we were in the Toronto area so Naz took the time to show us the best route on the map to help us on our way. The car served us well during the week we rented it and a staff member returned us to our airport hotel on our return. I couldn't have asked for better service and the rental was lower than I would have paid at other rental car agencies. Next time I am in Toronto, I will definitely rent from Zoom! Customers should be aware that they will need to provide proof of insurance. I was lucky, I just happened to have that in my wallet!

Most of the staff was good, but shady business tactics. Booked through Expedia and didn't find out until pick up that they charge an $8/day mandatory fee for 3rd party liability unless you have your own vehicle and brought in your insurance papers. The thing is: they are legally required to have 3rd party liability to put a vehicle on the road, so they're paying for it whether or not you brought in your papers (This is separate from the typical LDW [Loss Damage Waiver] all rental agencies offer optionally). Why spring a surprise fee at the counter when they could simply offer a discount to the few who would have a Canadian car policy and remembered to bring proof? I rent at least 6x a year for work and this is the first time I've ever heard of an agency charging for this in Canada. All other agencies just include it as the cost of business in the daily rental fee. They also tried charging $150 for dog hairs... included a pic so you can see how ridiculous this was. We have a golden retriever and had the car for over a week: of course there's going to be some transfer. Do you not vacuum your cars between rentals? The guy who wanted to charge this "was doing me a favor" by flagging it before they just went ahead and charged for 'excessive pet hair'. We were returning an hour early, so we took it to the Husky station across the road and spent $2.50 and 5 min vacuuming. Done. Just walked away feeling like they were predatory with fees. Will not be back.

Advertise unlimited mileage then act as if it’s common knowledge that Ontario drivers only have a limit of 200km a day. How about you advertise that clearly because I reviewed all the fine print in the reservation and before I made payment, there was absolutely nothing said about mileage restrictions other than geographical restrictions. Why would you advertise unlimited mileage without clearly stating this is only for out of province renters. Super shady don’t waste your time, employees do nothing but insist it was in the advertisement. Waste of a rental, rent at the airport and avoid the headache.

Would not recommend. They did not send us a free shuttle. Sent a taxi, for which we paid. Also charged us 125 extra for insurance, even though we had coverage. Promised a refund for the insurance charge, but I had to chase after them for weeks to get it. Ruined the whole trip. Pay a bit extra and go with more reputable companies. WARNING... USE SOMEONE ELSE... they just randomly charge your credit card for fees that are not explained or notified months after you rent. If you happen to cross a toll bridge they send you that charge and then charge another $30.00 processing fee per crossing... such a sham..This was not explained to me when i rented.. They also take a deposit for one amount from one person and a totally different amount for someone else just dependent on who you talk to even if they have the same driving record. Their deposit is ridiculously high $650.00 is what we paid and I have a full discount policy and live in Canada. Just smells like a place that they get everything they can from you especially if they have your CC number..

Book a rental car that's based in the airport. For off-site companies you have to first figure out where to go (don't follow the rental car signs). It's a bunch of walking and a train ride to the back alley of the airport. After waiting 15-20 minutes an unmarked van pulled up. The drive to the building is at least 15 minutes depending on traffic. That's not just off-site to me. Their shuttles only run bankers hours so you're out of luck if you return at 6 am. Tony worth the money saved vs on on-site company.

**BEWARE** Upon returning the car, a scratch was found. Zoom charged me $500 at the time of return and another $1100 when damage was repaired in a month time. (Total $1600 charged to my credit card by Zoom) Claim was filed with American Express Platinum card, however, the RSA (insurance company for AMEX Platinum card) only paid me a total amount of $1150 in the end. According to the RSA (insurance company), Zoom is known to be over charging for the damage repairs and my damage was not an exception. RSA noticed claims come from Zoom were Well-above-industry standard according to the RSA and they are carefully following the Zooms activities for this matter. Therefore, RSA default the payment to the industry standard for my claim and determined the payment of $1150 (and I had to cover the difference out of my pocket.) I understand rental fee is considerably cheaper that other rental companies, but this would be the risk you are taking when you are renting a car from them.

Edit: received an exhorbitant bill for toll charges. They never told me about the tolls and clearly make their money by ripping people off by tripling the original toll bills. $28 turned to $100. Absolute BS. The next rental company I used gave me a toll info pamphlet!! Why can't Zoom?? Dishonest company. They deserve their poor ratings. Original review below: Rented a car through Mex car rental which didn't have great reviews. I was skeptical because the last minute price was so low, but my expectations were blown away. I got a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and it was so nice to drive. Lots of great features and the service at the rental agency was excellent too. Friendly, polite, quick. The shuttle was great too.

This is by far the worst rental company i have ever dealt with. I was there recently and the issue of insurance came up and i was told to provide a pink card within the 14 days i had the vehicle, because i do not travel with it. When i returned the vehicle i was told that was not acceptable i needed my policy. Firstly that is something no one travels with and my pink card proves coverage when i finally received it. Then i was told i had to pay 140.00 which i refused to but they stole it anyway from my credit card. That issue is in dispute. This is a pathetic company who will do anything they can to steal money from you and change their story as it suits them. Please do not use this outfit and just ZOOM right past them. The money you think you save is not worth it. Also the airport shuttle requires a train ride and a long wait to be picked up. Really safe in these covid times.

Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Where to start. Made my booking online for u limited mileage, only to get there and be told of 200km for “local” renters. Of which I finally went with it still. On returning the car I was charged and not given an official receipt, after having one of the agents waste like an hour. Later was mailed like 5 different bills which were stating I would be charged again for amounts I had already paid. At that point I reached out to the office where I was disrespected by the female agent who later had me on hold for 30mins only to have her manager come online the line and ask “what do you want”. In simple terms if you have choice dont go here. Dont know whether its a scam or just unprofessional service at this location. Still fearing seeing mysterious costs charged on my card

I can not express how frustrated I am with the service I've received from this place. I wanted to give a small rental place like Zoom rental a chance for business but it was my biggest mistake in my life. I am never renting from this place again. I wanted to rent a mini van for my camping trip and I was told I had 3000 Km over the phone and put down my credit card to secure the rental but when I went into picking up the van I was told another story. I was forced to rent the van because i'll be charged for cancellation and won't be able to get a van anywhere else last minute. The car was still dirty in the back seats and I didn't realized it until later on the day when I already left the rental. I only checked the outside for scratches and damages but didn't think to check interior of the car since the front seemed somewhat decent. When I returned the van after my rental they wanted to charge me for interior cleaning, I was so pissed off and told them there was already dirt inside the car before I rent it. I had a good 30-45 minutes argument before we seatle to an agreement. It also took a week before my deposit got refunded to my card which I had to call them several times asking what why they are still holding my deposit they response was always the same, it is in the process along with other deposit. This is the worse rental experience I've ever experienced in my life. I would not reccommend this rental place to anyone unless you want to get chewed up and receive the worse experience in your life.

As per the online website booking, it was unlimited kilometers. I showed the reservation information which says unlimited kilometers but still they insisted on limited kilometers. Secondly they force to buy third party insurance. Other rental company do not force to buy third party insurance. They attract with less rental price but extract the money by charging for insurance etc. Stay away from this company.......Car is not clean....they rent old and dirty cars.

We have rented twice with this company and had excellent service both times . Even when busy , got pleasant help at desk , then a practically new car each time . First time was uneventful, second time , brand new Toyota we got a pretty significant ding on the bumper with a small hole in it probably in a parking lot. . We had our own insurance and anticipated a difficult process with a lot of paper work and negotiation. Instead , the paperwork took 10 min and we were on our way . They took 1000$ damage deposit on our credit card in lieu of being paid by insurance company . Instead 3 weeks later , we heard that damage had been considered pre existing and they were cancelling claim . very pleased with company and will use it every time we come to Ontario.

DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THESE GUYS. Please Google this establishment on Trip Advisor for proper reviews from customers that have been ripped off by this place. Unless this place has gone under new management in the last year, it baffles me to see such high reviews. What might appear as a cheap alternative to a single parent with limited income or someone financially strapped could have crippling consequences. A weekend rental ended up costing me 2300 dollars when all was said and done. I was rear ended by an errant driver, which led to a crack in the bumper. My partner's car had the exact same accident and knew the bumper just needed to be popped back in. Surprisingly, Zoom refused to allow me to take the car to a certified mechanic, which is normally allowed by trusted rental companies like Discount and Hertz. After taking the vehicle to their mechanic, they claimed they had to replace the entire bumper and charged me my full 1000 deductable to do it. The paperwork you sign only says you pay the repair irregardless of who's at fault on the back page(which they do not make you sign, only the front page...which is somehow legal?). Someone who is not educated in No Fault insurance might not even know what they are agreeimg to, especially if they don't see the page! This was verified by an employee who told me over the phone that I hadn't signed the back of the page, only the front. Also, they "found" a small chip in the windshield which I believe was already there, however was not noted during the initial flyby walkthrough prior to taking the vehicle as they did not inspect the windshield. I will admit that this was my first time ever renting a vehcile, and I have now learned my lesson and will perform thorough walkthrough take lots of pictures, instead of trusting their speedy runthrough. What was interesting was that they were comparing the windshield to the state of the car when it was dropped off by the previous renter, and the car had clearly been moved prior to me renting it. Further proof of this was the kilometres had gone up from the time the previous renter dropped off the vehicle to when I picked up the vehicle. I have no doubt that they were waiting on the next sucker renter to charge the damage to, and big surprise, their mechanic said that they need to replace the entire windshield... another 1000 dollars gone. If you have taken the time to read this please stay away from this place, it is not worth it to save a few bucks. A lot of people renting from these places might not have 2300 bucks, and I only hope that I can divert even one person renting from these guys. Please read other one star reviews, often times they will mention bumper replacements and appear to have a lot of likes.

Excellent customer service and helpful during tough times. I rented a car from zoom and got into the accident. I had purchased the insurance online through expedia while booking the car and they didnt payout the claim for over 2 months. Once the claim was approved, the amount was way less than the value of the claim. Mike and Paul were very courteous during the whole procedure and offered a reasonable settlement. My experience with Zoom rental car has been excellent, in terms of customer service. Not really sure where all the bad reviews are coming from- they should all be revised. They really listen to you and really try to accommodate for your needs according to the situation. I rented a car for a day from Zoom Rentals in hopes of practicing driving for my upcoming G test. I bought the insurance with $2000 damage deductible, and also had to buy the underage driving insurance, which I understand, since I am a G2 driver. They gave me a brand new 2013 Mazda, it was nice to drive around and to practice with. However, since I am not a very experienced driver, I slightly hit the curb and made some scratches underneath the front bumper. The next day, the staff told me unfortunately the whole bumper needs to be replaced, and since I bought the $2000 deductible insurance, I am responsible for all the damages within the deductible. It was my first time handling any vehicle-related damages, so I was very worried. A few days later, the estimate came to be much higher than I expected. I immediately contacted the store manager (Mike), and explained to him about my current situation, since this was too much of a financial burden on my part; being a recent school graduate still in the process of paying off my school loans, and this estimate being too much for myself. I asked the manager to somehow lower the price on the invoice, and he LISTENED, and was CONSIDERATE about my needs/situation. The total costs had been lowered, and I couldn't be happier. They really care about their customers' satisfaction, and know how to handle different challenges when they arise. I would definitely use Zoom Rentals for my future car rentals, because they really treat you with the best customer service and are considerate when you ask for anything. Brutal service at ZOOM -- watch for the 'liability' ripoff. . My wife arrived to pick up a rental car in July. Our Mastercard, which we used to book online, was suddenly not acceptable to them. She was told she HAD to purchase liability insurance from ZOOM, despite the fact our insurance agent assured us we were completely covered. Zoom demanded a 'certificate of insurance' -- because our pink slip was not valid?? 3 other people in the car rental building were arguing with Zoom employees. Upon returning the car and complaining again about the extra charge -- Zoom emailed to say they would refund the charge if we proved we had insurance??? We did. Haven't heard a word from them. Very DIRTY rental business. Now I know how they got so many 5 star reviews. These guys PAY customers for a 5 star review. It seems like the company is run and owned by Indians. I was in a line waiting to rent a vehicle. In the line there was an Indian customer who was renting a vehicle. The Customer Rep. told him that he would get a 10% discount if he leaves a 5 star Google review, but has to do it before they charge him. When it was my turn to rent the vehicle the customer service rep did not make me that same offer... discrimination because I am white? The people stating that this company is paying for reviews is right!!! If you view the 5 star profiles for all of the users that left 5 stars. Most of them are either fake users, or they are from websites like fiver, which pays people to leave fake reviews. I confronted their manager Mike over the phone about the discrimination over not being offered the 5 star review and that it was false advertising. He just laughed it off and mentioned he actually pays users through a website and he does not care about giving me a discount... because apparently "he's already got my money" for the car rental. Don't waste your time and go to Enterprise or the bigger companies who actually run a business professionally.

Our Robotics team rented a van from this company to travel to Louisville, we received a van with a lot of damage (internal and external), which were apparently noted by staff when they gave us the van. Helpful guys, we were booking from UK and couldnt source a convertible hire car in Toronto using any of the four big hire companies. These guys managed to find one for us and at a reasonable rate too. Stayed open for us coming in on a late night flight and picked us up from the airport too. Very pleased and will use them again next time we visit
