UPDATE as of DECEMBER 2021 I had a reservation booked for the Christmas holidays and soon after my updated review below these scammers called me to notify me that my reservation has been cancelled due to a glitch lol. How convenient Advantage!!! Luckily I was able to find an alternate vehicle for the holidays. STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN!!!! UPDATE as of November 2021. This place is thrash. The old management was much more friendly and understanding. I’ve rented from this company for the last 5 years and now I refuse to rent anything from them. Every since Sai left they have charged me for extra things that I didn’t sign up for or agreed too. They accused me of having pet hair in one of their vehicles and I don’t even own a pet. They don’t clean their cars properly and they’re vehicle selection is poor. Watch out for these scammers!!!

Reserved a week long rental online and they had the best rate. Although they didn't have the exact vehicle I requested, the car made available to me was from 2018, in great condition and clean. The onboard options allowed me to use Android Auto via my phone for total hands-free directions, phone calls and messaging. The "Eco" setting also helped the wallet on gas. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was due to the wiper fluid running low mid way through the rental. When I opened the hood to refill the fluid (at my own cost) I found 2 pieces of bread at the top points of the engine. Yes, bread. Also, the online rate doesn't come with any insurance coverage. Although the credit card I used took care of this, it may be a factor for others. Check in advance to confirm the options available to you.

Rented from this location multiple times; had a great experience until my last. Busy, unclear agreement terms and inconsistency from website led to a disagreement about KM's. Mike was unable to find the time to full address. "ie. were talking about 20 dollars here" is a quote I'll not forget soon. I followed up twice, a followed was committed and not acted on. Anyway, If you're going to rent from these guys, just make you know where you stand. I feel you show your true service colours at the worse times. These guys failed for me.

Wow, what a range of like to dislike. I'll give you my feedback and you take it for what it's worth. My car was in the shop with major problems over the May 24 long weekend. Everyone of the 'major' rental shops were sold out, Advantage happened to have a couple of cars left, and I might add at very decent rates as well. The shop was small and it is a little run down, but honestly if this is a detail that matters to you, ummm...too bad? I worked with Daniel (I guess the manager?) he was very friendly to me (not sure what happened in the other cases). I advised that my insurance extended to rental vehicles, he didn't ask me for any pink slips or anything.* (again, hassle free for me) * - Sidenote - I am in the insurance industry, if you want to know whether your auto policy covers liability for rental cars just look at your policy and look for something called OPCF 27, it is an additional coverage you must ask for...you should add it, it's cheap, much cheaper than rental insurance. You're Welcome. I returned the car after having it for a week, they were very friendly, they reminded me to fill up the car so as to not be charged more for fuel surcharge, and there were no hidden surprises. I felt it was worth writing a review because for me, they came through during a very busy long weekend and contrary to some people's experience I happened to have a very good one.

I rented a vehicle 3 weeks ago via their online website. I received a text message confirming my reservation and received a confirmation call the day prior to pick up. Upon showing up for my pick-up, I was told that there were no cars and that they do not do one day reservation. What kind of business are you guys running? If you don’t allow one day reservation then why does your online platform allow you to? Also, why did the person who called to confirm my reservation made no mention of this. My whole day was screwed as I needed the car to drive out of the city for the day. I had to waste time running around to other car rental companies to get a last minute car on a Saturday morning. I left Advantage and was told I would get a call back within 30 mins. No call. I called and was told, no cars till 5pm!!!!!!! No apology, no empathy, nothing. It’s as if you guys thought I was renting a car just for the hell of it. Do better Advantage! Don’t make reservations if you will not uphold your end of the bargain. It’s unprofessional! You have lost me as a customer as I will never attempt to use your services ever again.

When returning the car, Advantage staff members decided that today would be a good day to take 'Advantage' of their customers. Living up to their name, they proceeded to accuse us of damaging alloys without checking the car's previous records until a third staff member finally alerted us of an existing damage record. We did not receive an apology. We are very disappointed by our experience with the Queen Street East location. We have been renting cars from this location for a few years now having such wonderful customer service, until today. Unsure if there has been a recent turnover in staff, but safe to say that we will not be renting cars there again.

Reserved a "Standard" class online at end of June 2017. It was a few dollars more than "Compact" or "Economy" but I was willing to pay as I needed the space. When I went to pick up the car, I was handed the keys to a Civic (two classes below my reservation). They tried to pass that on as my class, and when I raised the issue they apologized and said that's all they had. I was disappointed but I understand that it can happen, cars get sold out. So I told the lady employee (Jessica) that it's fine, and to just give me the compact at the lower price point (since I paid extra for larger car). She refused, telling me it can't be done and that their policy is to give whatever vehicle is available (doesn't matter what I reserve online). I was dumbfounded! Couldn't believe the logic, but needed the car so went with it. Anyway, after I returned the care I sent a polite email to head office asking for a refund of the difference. No response. I made a Facebook review explaining my experience, and quickly their social media person said they'll look into it. Never heard back again. Fast forward to August. Advantage charges my credit card for $350 for no reason and without contacting me. I returned the car in perfect shape and full of gas. I can only guess it's for retaliation to the Facebook review. I will be reversing the charge from credit card company and taking further action. Obviously I cannot recommend renting from this company even though they tend to be a bit cheaper (now I know why).

Fantastic location to rent a car in downtown Toronto. I have seen all the car rentals located in the basement in downtown but these people are very accessible. They are located right at Queen and Sackville. Very close to my place. The guys at the front desk are very helpful. They have reasonable prices compared to discount and enterprise.

Was involved in a car accident downtown Toronto on December 27th in -25 weather. Called a few places and all were closed because of holiday hours. I left a voicemail at the downtown location of Advantage Car and Truck rentals and within 15 mins to my surprise I received a call back from Daniel. He arranged to have a 4x4 (I live 2 hours north of the city and with 2 feet of snow you need either 4 wheel or all wheel drive) delivered to my sister's house where I was staying in the Beaches. Upon the recent completion of repairs to my car in Newmarket, Daniel again arranged to have the rental picked up from the collision repair center for me. Great customer service from start to finish...they showed me how much they valued me as a customer...I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone in need. Thank you Daniel and your professional courteous team!!

First time using Advantage. Last time using Advantage. Saw the reviews and thought we'd give them a try. We prepaid, so we did save a bit of money. The car we were given seemed new but overheated as soon as we hit the highway. We drove all the way back to Danforth from Vaugjhan to return the car. I explained what happened and the employee proceeded to tell me he's been in the industry for 25 years and has never had a problem. Then he asks me why I didn't check under the hood myself before I left. Ridiculous. It's your responsibility as the renter to ensure the vehicle is in proper working order. Don't try to blame the customer. Poor customer service. We ended up with a proper replacement, but the entire experience was an inconvenience. I would not recommend Advantage on Danforth.

Advantage is the most affordable place in town, and I've never had an issue with bookings/cancellations. They are my go to for car rentals! I'll go over the pros and cons: Pros: affordable, car seemed clean on the inside and in good driving condition. Cons: -I booked my vehicle a few days in advance for an 8am pick-up, as their website advertises. When I got to the place, they had a sign saying they don't open until 9am due to covid. Understandable, however, nobody called me or emailed me to let me know, and they had adequate time to do so. Cons: -This was my first time booking with them so I brought my drivers license, of course. When I got there, they told me they required another piece of ID that proved my address.. This was stressful and frustrating going through old emails to find a phone bill or something, and then I had to email them my personal statement.. Nobody let me know this needed to happen before hand in a clear, transparent way.

Not a great day when you arrive and are told that your "confirmed online cargo van reservation" was cancelled, the same day you reserved. I was told they called me to tell me that they did NOT have a cargo van, but NO, I was not called. Thank God for Affinity luxury car rentals, on Dibble St.. I have had a pleasant experience with this car rental company. First of all, their prices are very reasonable. Then, they provided a very clean car with all amenities fully functional. My vehicle was cleaned and examined properly and I was given a copy of the inspection (usually I have to ask or take a photo). As someone who rents quite a bit, I cannot give this location a higher recommendation.

We had rented a car with them sometime back. Their customer service was excellent. We had called 30 mins before to make a reservation and requested a hatchback, as my friend wasn't comfortable driving a sedan or suv in downtown. They said they can't promise us but would do their best but when we arrived they had called in a hatchback from a different location for us. They were friendly, polite and answered all our concerns and queries, did a full inspection with us and explained why they were doing what they were doing. Compared to enterprise or budget they seemed to take the time with their customers to address every little concern. They didn't rush us in anyway. We even returned a bit after the alloted time because of some traffic but they didn't push back or charge us extra. They were understanding. Was pretty impressed. Will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

Not bad Not great. Staff was friendly however we were delayed almost an hour by Advantage as they didn't have the vehicle ready for us. ALSO note we rented an Intermediate SUV and were given a MAZDA CX 5 which is NO SUV. It has been voted the best "small" Utility vehicle! The car was nice though just not an SUV at SUV prices.

Stay clear! They will let you book if you are under 25 online, when calling to confirm they tell you they don't rent to people under 25? Why is there a booking option for 23-24 if you don't rent to people under 25... Edit: if what you say is true, I would strongly suggest you contact corporate and have them update the website. I shouldn't have to read a T&C to know that. It should be displayed the moment I click the 23-24 option. My review will remain the same as this could have cost me an entire day had I not called ahead.

Their customer service is very inconsistent - their staff at this location is fine but their head office staff are extremely rude. Be prepared to wait - even though you booked a car at a certain time, you will be there for at least an hour on weekends waiting in line or waiting for your car to arrive and be cleaned. I don't have high expectations when renting a car - I just want to be in and out in a timely manner!

My experience was absolutely terrible, The business running by 2 guys in the small office at the end of the shopping centre, the terms and conditions is not clear, and the funny DODGY part is when you get to the insurance policy , they will charge you double price of the rental cost for full insurance and still you HAVE TO PAY $2500 for any damage to the vehicle!!!!!

I've rented from here a couple times and the service and the price has been great except for my last experience. I reserved a car for 11:30 am and the night before I got a text at 10 pm saying that the car wouldn't be available until "around 4pm" this was far out of the time frame that I needed it for and I was left completely without a car and little options to find a substitute. I reserved well in advance. My trip was completely ruined. Extremely disappointed and there's no way I'll risk renting from here again.

If possible I would of given no stars these people are thiefs they took money for damage waiver payment told us that we would be refunded if accident wasn't our fault a taxi went into our rear 10minutes after getting car and left tiny scratch they not only told us not to involve the police and checked damage to say it all ok but then took $500 from my credit card and are now refusing to chase the person who crashed into me and also claim the damage waiver is a non refundable payment that u have to make regardless of being at fault! These people are criminals and do not hire a car with them.

Stay away from the Esplanade location. They are the worst. Really the absolute worst. When you go pick up your car it will be a small miracle if they are actually there. Doesn't matter if you go in the day before and tell them when you're coming in, doesn't matter if you picked a time online, doesn't matter if they call you 20 minutes before you suppose to be there. They won't be there when you show up as has been my experience 4 x the past two months. They suck. That is all.

Best deal for an enclosed automatic truck that icludes kilometers. The online registration process didn't work properly so I gave up but later in the week someone called to ask if I still needed a truck and so we booked! The 16' truck is huge and tall. Had more space than we needed which is not the worst problem to have. As always service is good or bad depending on who you speak to. Spoke to one pwraon and received the promose of an email confirmation. Didn't get it. Spoke tona second person and got a confirmation right away. Overall service was ok and inconsistent, so not great overall.

Usually the best price but when we picked up a Full size vehicle it was a Kia Soul. Vehicle does not have great suspension. Unfortunately the car had not been cleaned and windshield full of bug guts. When we called about this right away as we did not notice on first glance, staff said they would take $10.00 off price of vehicle rental. Very friendly staff. I used to rent with enterprise all the time but once I started renting with these guys. I have never gone anywhere else. Always have good cars and have great rates. Sometimes the cars could be a bit cleaner and parking is tight if you return cars late. But chances is are you wouldn't clean your car daily and that finding parking on your street isn't any easier!

No advantage to renting with Advantage Car & Truck Rental: I booked a cargo van 4 weeks ago with Advantage. Spoke to the rental agent. Reserved a cargo van for this weekend. I got a call today saying that they only had two vans. One is in the shop and the other one was extended into the weekend by the person who has it now. So Advantage allowed someone to override my reservation three days out rather than honouring the booking I made 4 weeks ago. Do not book with Advantage if you want to be sure you're actually going to get the vehicle you booked. They won't honour your booking and they won't make it right. They'll screw you over and not care what it does to you. Pathetic. (For the record, this is the second time I tried booking with Advantage and got screwed. The first time was a booking I successfully made on their website for Labour Day weekend. I got a confirmation email securing the booking. Three days later, I got a call saying the website shouldn't have allowed the booking. They had actually had no cargo vans available even though the website said they did and I was able to book one online.) I should also note that when I booked this time for a Saturday 8 am pick-up, and could have dropped it off by 7 pm, they said I'd have to pay for the whole weekend and drop it off Monday morning because they're not open again until Monday morning. I will never book with Advantage again and highly recommend you don't either. You will only be disappointed.

Up until a month or two ago this place was the best rental place ive ever used, no issues, cars always clean and on time and the super affordable price of 19$ a day!! They were always closed sunday which sucked because if you needed the car for a weekend it forces you to keep and pay for the rental until monday morning but at 19$ a day....who really cares?! Now HUGE PROBLEM recently they went from $19 a day to $39 a DAY. THAT'S DOUBLE WHAT THEY USED TO CHARGE. so now not only do they force you to rent the extra day if you need the weekend rental but now they are DOUBLE?!? Definitely looking for other places to rent from now. Wouldnt be surprised they end up losing all their business.

NO upselling, NO bait and switch, NO added "extra charges" So unusual for car rental companies - Customer service was second to none, even went way over the top to find me overnight parking in downtown Toronto.... Wonderful service highly recommend this location (Queen and Parliment). I requested a van rental the day before, this location did not have a van for me but the agent was really helpful, he called other locations to make sure there was one for the time Of the request. He went out of the way to drive the van to this location for 9am pickup. We are very happy with the service and the van drove very well. We will definitely rent here again.

Sai, Frank and the team are awsome to deal with. I have been renting from them for years, and never had any problems. The prices are great and the customer service is amazing!!
