Booked a vw caddy 7 seater to take me and my family to Blackpool for 5 days there was 6 passengers and luggage we arrived at airport there was no 7 seater to pick me and my family up from airport. so there was a car sent to pick me up and leave my family at the airport for 1 hour to pick up the hire car. Gets to the office to be told my car was running late then they give me the keys of a 7 seater Nissan x trail that has very little boot space and I could have also got this car at another car hire company cheaper. Which I had turned down as was to small for comfort and luggage. I hope anyone who chooses to use this company get the car they arrange and don't have the same experience as me and my family.

it s a scam, run away run away. you can book your booking on rentalcars with a debit card no pb. However when you get there when using a debit card, magically, a "reduced fee" of £200 appears on top of your rental price, to cope with the fact that you have a debit card. If you have a credit card they will CHARGE you £2600 for the car hire and we ll reimburse you the amount 28 DAYS!! later. run away, never again

Just been to pick up car to attend a funeral . The company wants 3 months on your credit card . But the booking company are unaware of this and it’s not in any paperwork I received.I had 54 days left on my credit card . They refused to accept it. They could do it if I payed £50 a day insurance for six days even though I have my own insurance , which I believe is miss selling of insurance. I am using another company now that will accept my card that is in date for 54 days. AVOID.

We hired a car at Liverpool airport from Green Motion (through Ryanair). There were a few crumbs on the back seat when we returned. I was going to brush them away, but the company insisted they had to do a full valet of the back of the car! Charged us forty pounds. Pure con to make extra money. They got away with it because we were under pressure to catch a flight. Second time Green Motion have added charges after a hire. I would never use these cowboys again. Steer well clear.

Avoid GreenMotion! Thanks to them we lost one working day on our trip and it caused big troubles. We have order the car in Liverpool airport on 7PM. We came to meeting point around 7:25 PM thanks to flight delay. Nobody from GreenMotion was there. We called to phone number on reservation – nobody answered. Because it was only phone number we have got, we called there every about 2 minutes. No answer, just automatic switching to “operator” and other “off-line” info. After 15 minutes of waiting we decided to walk to their office. After 25 minutes of walk we arrived there at 8:10 PM. Nobody there, just the sign with the same phone number which nobody answered. We waled back to airport. Because no rent-a-car company at the airport has available appropriate car for rent, we had to find a hotel and accommodate in Liverpool. Following day in the morning we called GM again – we have got info that because we missed the 7PM pick-up time, no car is available for us! We were asked to call again at 11AM – maybe they will find a car for us. They did not found... So we decided to rent a car from other company. Because it took another several hours we arrived to our destination quite late in the evening. So my suggestion: don’t use rent-a-car company who 1) does not accept the flight could be delayed and 2) does not answering the only contact phone number, even in opening hours.

Ordered a Kia Niro for a UK holiday when we arrived given a Seat Arona. Not as nice, basic model, smaller. A guy returning his car was being accuses of scratching the tyre. Yes the TYRE! Despite his protests he was made to pay. This unnerved me no end am I spent the holiday driving like an oap nervous I was going to get charged for some illusive mark on the car. A relief when I returned the car and got the 2 and a half grand deposit back! I wouldn't use this company again as I do believe they try it on charging people hundreds for non existing scratches now I've read reviews. I'll stick to Budget

Miserable company( At least this branch). I've forgotten to provide them my flight number. It was Saturday 4 30 pm. Branch closes at 5. My booking was 3 30. Staff lied to me that my car was already rented for somebody else, although contract obliged them to keep it for another 4 Hours. At the end employee probably lied to me another time telling that there are just 7 seaters left ( where deposit exceed my credit card). Of course they did it because it was NOT REFUNDABLE rental. Easy money. Be aware of such a behaviour. I just regret that I didn't registered this phone call, to have an evidence. After my query company denied any wrongdoing. I've lost my money, they earned easy fraud money.

SCAMMERS, STEER CLEAR OR BE CHARGED £££ Had the worst experience ever here, no wonder the Guardian, Watchdog and Dispatches have all done articles slamming this company. From start to finish Greenmotion was an absolute DISTASTER! Rented a car for 3.5 weeks whist I came to England, ended up costing me thousands. Ordered a VW polo online and got a Fiat 500 when I got there and said they didn’t even have a VW Polo in their fleet, then they wouldn’t refund for the downgrade in car! That was the first thing, bear in mind this was at the beginning of Covid and I flew in for a family emergency so naturally did not have the time or capacity to contest this whilst I had other pressing matters going on. This rental ended up costing me thousands. Firstly, kept getting the calculations wrong at the time of rental, making me add extra insurance here and there and upselling various add ons that I “needed” in order to rent the car safely and not incur extra charges (alarm bells straight away, but when you’re at the Airport after a 24 hour flight trying to get to a hospital you just want to do these things as quickly as possible) Brought the car back at the end of my trip in exactly the same condition as rented, showed before and after photos and got charged a jaw dropping £1682.14 (on top of my rental fees and other random inexplicable fees on another invoice) for a minor scuff that could have been rubbed off with a cloth! I was floored!! I showed them the photos clearly showing the condition beforehand, the male attendant inspecting the car at the time (Asif?) was an absolute abhorrent beast to deal with, he just kept shrugging, ignored my pointing out that he was clearly committing fraud in front of my face, saying ‘it doesn’t matter’ and kept trying to find defects, touching minuscule marks that existed when I rented the car and marking them off on the sheet. Never in my life have I ever dealt with a company so overt and brazen in their actions when ripping customers off. There are no words and I honestly don’t understand how they are getting away with this. You could just tell they just relish in extorting people for phantom damages and withholding their deposit by any means possible. I have rented cars all over the world and never in my life have I seen people so eager to scam innocent customers at a car rental company, just horrendous. Especially being at an airport they know people are likely from overseas like myself and they can get away with it. I will never ever deal with this company again they deserve lower than zero stars and disgust me to the core. I am currently seeking legal action for the extortionate costs incurred plus damages. These people are barbaric and do whatever it takes to scam and charge you for damages you did not make or any minuscule mark on the car, you basically cant drive it once rented - they should be ashamed of themselves. Type in GREEN MOTION SCAM to Google and you will see I’m not the only one. And to everyone who working at Green Motion Speke Airport, fabricating damages and scratches to hit target and get their commission for the month by hook or by crook, and enabling this sort extortion, one word - KARMA. ——UPDATE—— Do NOT erroneously state that it was another car rental location & we were happy! I have attached the top area of the invoice which clearly states GREEN MOTION LIVERPOOL AIRPORT. Secondly, as you can see from the signed area of the invoice the rental agent has signed the bottom under ‘MOHSIN. A’ as mentioned, the first name of the agent began with an A, hence the initial question mark after mentioning Asif(?) - indicating that I couldn’t remember his name verbatim. However, you have his last name now so feel free to look that up. Thirdly, of course it was stated as NEW damage which is how your rental agent MOHSIN A was ABLE to apply the charges in the first place. Again I have attached the photos of the car which shows which shows the ‘scuff’ you charged me £1682.14 for! The photos of the car before and after were exactly the same - STOP SCAMMING INNOCENT PEOPLE!

My booking was at 12:00. I was instructed by Green Motion booking to wait at a specific place at the airport and call them so they can pick me up and take me to the depot. I arrived at the airport (as instructed) and started calling the depot at 14:25. I called for over 20 mins and no answer. So I got a cab (cost £8) to the depot, arrived and explained. No apology. No offer to reimburse. I was then told my booking had been cancelled because they only hold bookings for 2 hours. Staff member there did not seem to care. They told me I would not get a refund for the booking nor anything for the cab fair I had just paid. I was told that if I wanted a car then I would need to make a new booking, which was over twice the price of the original booking. I did not want to travel back to the airport (where the other car rental companies are located) and so made a new booking. Original cost for booking = £16. Final cost was £16 (original booking) + £8 (cab fair) + £39 (new booking) = approx £63. Please note: The times & info in the reply from Green motion below is not accurate. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT USE.

My experience of this place was nothing but bad. My wife hired a car to run from 02/08/2021 until 09/08/2021. We arrived at the depot a bit early and we were advised to call back later which we were happy to do. Upon leaving my wife was asked if she could drive an automatic. As she was a bit spooked by the question she said yes. She had never driven an automatic and when we went back to the depot I explained that she had never driven one. The chap behind the counter said he'd try and contact the previous people who said they'd be there soon. We waited another 45 minutes and still the car hadn't shown up. Again we were offered an automatic but it was explained that as she'd never driven one we wouldn't want to take the chance and to cause any damages to the vehicle. As Green Motion were the person whom the broker had used we are still attempting to get our money back. A case has been raised with the BVRLA regarding this.

First we had to pay for picking us up at the airport. This was not communicated in advance. There was a free pickup but we had to walk 20 minutes in the rain. Second they scared us very much to force us to buy extra insurance. Third, At the day we left, they made a phone call explaining that we had to pay for an extra day rent because we returned the car to late. We stopped our ride to the Liverpool football station immediately and returned the car. When we arrived at the rental site we were told there was a mistake We could bring the car back a few hours later! It was too late to go to the Liverpool football station again, so we spent 4 hours at the airport because of their mistake. They offered us a 10 percent discount for a future car rent as compensation, but I will never rent a car at green motion again!

Stay away from these crooks. I never check a hire car over as I hire them all the time from other companies and there has never been an issue. I hired a car at an unrealistically low price from GM and it mostly sat on my drive for two days as I didn't need it. I took it back and the guy found two minute scratches on it. He took great pleasure in printing out his own paperwork to show they were not recorded before I took it. A proper hire company allows small scratches up to 3cm and these were barely noticable and he knew exactly where they were. Just pay the price for a proper rental company.

Manager was very aggressive with me and in spite of having valid Credit card, drivers license, booking reference and evidence that we had paid in full he refused to release our car without paying an additional 750 pounds for insurance !! would be zero stars. wasted half a day getting to and from the collection point, by train and cab , not to mention the money it cost only to find they still charged us for the full car hire. very unreasonable and unhelpful. Tried to blame Opodo for the issue, then myself.

Then they will force you to buy insurance premium of £50 a day for no reason!! Worst customer care.. well if they do care

Tried to charge me an extra £200. Despite taking payment, they then refused to hire me the car. I demand a full refund immediately, plus travel costs to and from Green Motion. On the positive side, GM provide decent cars at very low prices. However, there are several things you need to be aware of if you are hiring from them, and (if they are reading this review) suggestions of ways they could improve the service. 1 - The GM site is outside the main airport premises, so you have to wait for a driver to collect you. There are two options - one is at the airport building (£3 - to cover an airport carpark charge), and the other is a 5-10 minute walk away. We had to wait a while before being picked up. 2 - GM should add a £6 fee to each booking and pick everyone up outside the main airport building. It would make the car hire a little more expensive, but a lot of customers probably choose to pay the extra for the convenience of pick up anyway. This would simplify the pick up runs for the drivers: our driver picked us up off site, but we then had to sit in the van while he attempted to locate further customers at the airport. 3 - At times GM clearly experience staffing issues in that not enough staff are on duty. We - and other customers - had to wait in the office while the staff member drove a customer back to the airport for his flight (he had been waiting outside a locked office, needing to return his car - what happens when there is no one there to check a car in?). 4 - Cars are hired with varying amounts of fuel in the tank. I overheard another customer having the system explained to him - no one told me when I was hiring the car. The deal is that you return it with the amount of petrol it had at the start. This is quite imprecise as you need to estimate how many litres correspond to a bar on the dashboard indicator! 5 - Beware the small print: not least the punitive £84 'administration fee' if you happen to pick up a traffic fine. For example, if you forget to pay the online charge on the Mersey Gateway toll (£2), the adjustment will cost you! 6 - Despite the stresses of the system, the young men who were staffing the office and driving the vans, were doing their best and were polite to deal with. Better organisation of the system would make their job easier!

It was the worst car rental ever ! I been rent a car in Europe for for 5 years !! And I want to try Green motion car rental and I was shock ! I paid 157£ to rent a car and the flight was delay 35 mins ! The car rental cancel my booking and not refund anything !! They have my flight number !! They knew that it is delay and they don't wait even 30 mins ! This is so cruel ! I have to sleep in the airport for 6 hours because everything was close ! No train nothing ! Believe me go to other brand ! They wait if you are late and they don't treat you badly like this ! Green motion ! If you don't wait then don't ask your customer to put the flight number because you don't even look at it anyway !

Awful service over Christmas. Incredibly rude staff. Didn’t realise they didn’t have a key drop off when I noted the day before drop off I called to find a solution. Staff left me waiting for 6 hours on a plan to sort. Left upto the final minute of opening hours & said I needed to return it immediately or pay a fee for it to be picked up. (£36) (if I chose this it would have cost me £50+ in taxis to get back to my apartment & return to the airport early in the morning.) All because the auto generated booking I used put my flight time in to the system & the actual time I needed to drop off was 1 hour before in the morning when they were closed. Handled in the worst way. Liverpool airport pick up is far too far away from the airport itself. Waited 40 min in the cold for pick up. 1 hour to que at the desk. Just go to enterprise, it’s a breeze of a service in comparison, the price difference ain’t worth it. I’m talking about a £10 price difference which it ended up costing me much more in taxis & a resolve for the problem of return the car, which I had to do without any advice other than a big old ‘don’t give a f***’ from the staff member on the phone as he hung up. I was asking him what I needed to do to get the out of hours service as he hung up. Also accused the friend who helped returning with the keys to the office (after he dropped me to the airport) of driving the car to return it for me. Which would be impossible considering he was driving his own car waiting outside. Avoid! You’ve been smart to read a review, now be smart to make the right choice with your booking. Enterprise was an incredible service in comparison to this unprofessional ‘business’.

Very bad experience, not with this agency in particular but with Green Motion Terms and Conditions on Debit Cards. We booked a car online two months before the renting. When picking up the car, because of a new policy, they told us they couldn't take the £2.500 deposit with debit cards (only with credit ones), so we were asked to pay an extra cost of £50/day to be able to use our debit cards. After looking at our emails, we saw a small written condition stating that we needed a credit card. No "warning", no red signs, not a bold writting... nothing that could have drawn our attention to it. When we paid the full amont online, nothing told us that we would need a credit card at the office to be able to pick up the car. And because we rented cars with GreenMotion before with no issue (with our same debit cards), we were not expecting any. We could not afford this additional cost. We then decided to cancel the booking, not voluntarily (we were in the office at that time so obviously we wanted to rent the car). We found ourselves in Liverpool, for our week of holiday, with no car. After asking for a refund, we have later be told we couldn't have a refund of the booking because we accepted their Terms and Conditions online. Terms and Conditions which clearly didn't point out this credit card new policy. I am really disappointed with GreenMotion client service which I trusted before. They also need to know that in France, most people have Debit Cards and not Credit ones. Meaning all French people might have the same issue as us.

Total satisfaction??? Absolutely, with my hand on my heart. We have used Green Motion twice now, that means we have been looked after by several members of staff. Always courteous, go beyond "ordinary" levels of service. By that I mean that they do everything possible to fulfill their customers expectaions, even when under pressure of several customers awaiting their attention. In fact, that would be an area where the management could HELP. To have at least two members of staff on duty at the same time. One member of staff one their own is very challenging, and puts a lot of pressure on them.

Edit; i used to think these guys were good but a total jobsworth charged me £150 for a scuff the size of a hair on a rim. I've used GM a lot and I like them they are my go to car hire service in Liverpool. I've deducted 1 star because their fuel policy (bring it back with the same amount as when you picked it up) is rubbish. Everything else is great

Best ever car hire company I have dealt with. Friendly and efficient staff - gave us a lovely Fiat 500 even though that was not what I had booked (had booked a simple mini-type car) - so we travelled in style. No fuss was made of the fact that the car was a bit late back and we were dropped promptly to the airport. They even gave us a complimentary bottle of water as we were parched after our drive back to Liverpool from North Wales. Lovely company to deal with.

This is a very poor service from Green Motion and because of that we were late to our bussiness meeting. They had not got another car for us and we had no other option.

Rang Green Motion from Liverpool Airport as agreed and they were there within minutes to take us over to their offices. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Make sure you have your NI number with you as they need this when filling in the paperwork. Would definitely use Green Motion in the future.

We we arrived airport after phoning them at 16.10 .were told to go to first carpark.had to make yet another phone call and we told to go to drop off 2.Ater 40 mins the car arrived and took our driver to sign for car .On arrival we were told another £120 needed to be paid as we had no utility bill to confirm address .But!!!! our Northern Ireland licence with address and on wasnt enough.. I gave these guys a chance despite some mediocre reviews and thought their car hire was cheap compared to the competition. While the car was good, when I returned it I found out I had been duped into paying 7 times the rental feed for insurance after being told it would all be refunded when I returned the car. Be careful before you book!!!! Absolutely worst experience with car rental EVER! # 1. Not in Liverpool airport - and not easy to get to. took over 90 mins from landing before I was driving away. I attempted to walk to it. Big mistake - had to return to the airport to be collected. #2. Even then - the car wasn’t ready: had only just been returned by a customer / full of mud etc . I had to wait longer for it to be prepared #3. They only had one guy on - so he had to lock the office to take it to prep. Therefore he had to ask me to ‘hang around’ outside til he returned (at 8pm) #4. quite stressed & already very late / put my pin in wrong for the damage deposit (rental @ insurance had already been prepaid online.) #5 then told -because credit cardexperience pin blocked & only visa debit - I’d have to pay £50 excess fee so that no damage cover needed. I reluctantly did this . #6. At this point - chap THEN informed me that there was also an additional £50 per day. Charge for same. I was pretty upset at this point. On the way to visit a poorly relative / already very late / stranded in a random business estAte & forced to pay extra £150 - under duress they reduced this to £124 but still absolutely outrageous - especially as I had nowhere else to go / didn’t know where I was due to random location of office. #7 Upon return - sat nav took me to Liverpool City Centre instead of same random office - this added an hour to my journey & I nearly missed flight home. # family arriving behind me had similar experience with their postcode taking them to the wrong offices also. A debacle - the most stressful car hire ever. Use them at your own risk If ZERO stars possible - that’s their rating Awful Awful experience

I recently hired a car for the day from these guys at Liverpool airport and I can honestly say that I will use them again 100%. Staff were friendly and helpful. I even got a better car than I had booked. My advice is ( this goes for any car hire company) do your research and read the terms and conditions of hire carefully before you arrive and you should have no nasty surprises! If you have any questions just ring them! You should also know that the office is about 2 minutes drive from the airport and if you want to be picked up outside the terminal at the yellow submarine it will cost you up to £3 in airport drop off/pick up charges. You can ask to be picked up in the large car park 200 metres walk up the road and pick up is free! It's up to you.

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. Customer service was atrocious and very robotic, couldn’t seem to get beyond “computer says no” and had a complete inability to problem solve. I ended up cancelling after waiting in the queue for 40 minutes and going down the road to a more professional outfit ie Europcar. First of all I witnessed a gentleman who’d been given a car which had a fault on the engine for him to be told it was his problem and not the responsibility of Green Motion to help with a fault on the car. The gentleman had wasted his whole afternoon trying to call the car manufacturer to try and get it resolved. The branch manager failed to see why that might be slightly annoying for said customer. Next it was my turn… tried to pay with Amex for my hire car to be told that wasn’t accepted (no mention of this in my booking confirmation), I then gave a debit card which also wasn’t an acceptable form of payment so when I mentioned I only had two different types of Amex cards or my debit card, the attendant reluctantly decided to then accept my Amex . His reason for rejecting in the first place was because Amex transaction fees are too high… Secondly I had an issue with the DVLA check which was not registering my details (not at my fault as all details are up to date). I was then told it was my fault and reluctantly he attempted to call the DVLA to do a check and kept telling me how short staffed the DVLA were. Finally after 20 mins of hanging on the phone (on top of the 40 mins I had already been in there) he hung up and cancelled my car hire. I then had to wait another 20 mins to get a taxi to pick me up outside in the heat. Abysmal customer service. As a regular user of hire care companies I will never use this car hire company again and would advise all others tl not be fooled by the ‘cheap’ price tag. It’s cheap for a reason

I'm not one to be wrighting bad reviews but there's a first time for everything. To start off with green motion seemed to be a legitimate company I rented the car paid the £100 deposit and 2 days up front in cash and went away with the car. The car ended up being impounded by the police through no fault of my own I rang the hire company streight away to inform them of what had happened, to my shock the manager who I was on the phone to said "thats a £1500 loss to yourself I'll be in contact tomorrow and then hung up the phone before I could say anything . At this point I was shocked by how poor the customer service was that I'd experienced. The next day I received a phone call asking me to return to the office to end the hire agreement and be refunded my £100 deposit, the manager even paid for the taxi to get me there. As soon as I walked in the door he said now you owe me £75 I want it transfering into my account before you leave, as I explained I didn't have the money to give him hence why he had to pay for the taxi in the first place he started demanding I ring my family and they will have to pay. He informed me I wouldn't be getting my £100 deposit returned into my bank and made me sign loads of documents, at this time I felt extremely intimidated by the aggression in his voice. He then went on to make me pay £1350 on a "forced transaction" that's basically pushed me over £1100 into my unaranged overdraft and refused to return the deposit I was relying on to get home. Like I said I'm not one for bad reviews but the amount of disrespect these people direct towards there customers is absolutely out of order I'm now stuck in debt not my bank with no money to pay any bills. PEOPLE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS PAY THE EXTRA BIT AND GO WITH HERTS OR EUROCAR, my honest opinion is these people don't deserve to run a buisness and have completely ignored the duty of care towards the public that any business owner has,, as a sufferer of major anxiety and depression this really isn't helping my mental health. I know most people will just ignore this but please don't use this company they are an absolute joke

The car was spotless and scratch free upon collection (and at drop off!) Firstly I never leave reviews, but think it's best to warn people about this company. Firstly I arrived in Orlando international on the 16th of September 2017 after a long flight with my family which my little girl is autistic. I booked a 7 seater months in advance, when I arrived they said there wasn't any left and he only had normal 5 seaters. I explained that this wasn't possible has there was 6 in my party. After around 1 and a half hours of arguing we had no option but to take the 5 seater car due to my little girl getting adutated. The manager ( Christian) promised that he would deliver my 7 seater first thing in the morning. This did not happen, and only arrived 3 days later. This cost me a fortune in taxi fairs plus wasted lots of valuable time waiting around for them to fulfill their promises and deliver on times specified. When I got back home I contacted Sophie from head office ( customer care) and to be fair Sophie is a nice girl but tells you what you want to ear, but does nothing about it. I have been promised phone calls on many occasions, but never received. I've emailed on many occasions but again nothing as been resolved. I would strongly recommend keeping well away from this company. They might come across cheaper than others, but try to sell everything to you whilst there. Extra insurance, sat nav etc. Honestly the worst company I have ever come across!!!!

Based on my experience this is a good car hire company. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Georgia and the blonde guy from Preston (a sort of cross between Thor and Robin Hood - forgive me, I can't remember his name) who is very knowledgeable about cars. He is the only seller that has ever managed to sell me an upgrade. The car was so cheap initially thought that it still worked out a great deal. I would recommend dealing with these two as they were extremely fair and did not give that impression that you get at some companies where they are out to sting you from the off. Reading the other reviews I can sympathise, having experienced this at other car rental companies. My advice would be to take out your own car hire insurance policy that covers any issues with the excess - they work and are a fraction of the price at 2 or 3 pounds a day and well worth it. Green Motion is bit distant from the airport and I would rather they did full to full than level to level but I would definitely recommend them nonetheless.

JUSTE GO AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!! REALLY!!! Charge 84£ for any penality charge! So if you are a stranger, cross a toll bridge for 2£ & forget to pay, you'll have a small penality from the state (less than 15£), but they'll add their costs. So, on a single way in & back out of the liverpool airport for a 50 miles travel, this has costs me 200£ + the car rental price (+ gas). Of course car rental price wasn't the same than expected on easyjet or discount flying companies working with them. They didn't take the "DEBIT" card (VISA PREMIUM) for the cheap rental price. --> additional 100£ So, either to be VERY CAREFUL to take this company knowing the risk & the conditions, either just go away & select more transparent company!!! --------- JUSTE S'ÉLOIGNER D'EUX !!!!!! VRAIMENT!!! Charge 84 £ pour toute amende! Donc, si vous êtes un étranger, traversez un pont à péage pour 2 £ et oubliez de payer, vous aurez une petite pénalité de l'état (moins de 15 £), mais ils ajouteront leurs coûts. Donc, pour aller et revenir de l'aéroport de Liverpool pour un trajet de 50 miles, cela m'a coûté 200 £ + le prix de la location de voiture (+ essence). Picked up car in dark, & next day was raining, so couldn’t so couldn't check for damage; by end of rental, car was covered in dirt, but lady checking us back in IMMEDIATELY went to driver's door & 'discovered' a tiny dent underneath dirt that we could barely see; co-worker said he couldn't see it, but could feel it, but surely we can’t run our finger over entire car before accepting! I think it had been there before & they fleece all their customers for an extra £110 'damage' (apparently staff get commission on each dent they spot!!!) to supplement their apparent 'economy booking' rental-fee. Green Motion elsewhere have been cited by Which Travel magazine as stinging their customers this way, so disappointing that it seems it might be company policy generally! Also, despite advertised, certainly not 'on-site': 5 min walk to drop-off car-park, then 10 min drive, then 15 mins to check-in. Equally slow when returning car.

I also hired a car on 7/8/2016 from green motion liverpool when i returned the car i done a check on the car myself no scratches then i was asked to put my luggage into minibus for airport return when i returned to the car there was a mysterious scratch which wasnt there 5 min earlier so they took £388 of my card if that was not bad enough they then said i had to pay £1 for airport carpark. This company is a joke and only out to make as much money from customers they are a complete rip off i would urge everyone who has been ripped off by this company to pursue your case through a small claims court which im in the proccess of doing but to avoid this hassle PLEASE AVOID GREEN MOTION. I have nothing whatsoever to gain from this and hopefully can save further people from becoming victims.

I am really disappointed to write this review, particularly after the friendly service I received from Jason on the day I picked up the car. I have rented a car for one day (11th June) and I am still waiting for the pre authorisation to be released? I have used different companies and I never had to wait for this long. I have contacted my bank 3 times now and I was told the funds have not been released and once green motion releases, it can take a maximum of 5 working days to show the correct available balance on my credit card account. I can't understand why it takes so long to release the funds when everything was fine with the car? When I returned it, I asked how long it would take and was told that it takes 5 days or so but since then got in touch and now it can take up to 28 days - depending on the credit card and country of issue??? I am in the UK! I am really upset about this and don't think I will be using green motion again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!Awful. I arrived on time at 11am to pick up a 7 seater i had booked a couple of weeks earlier. Waited around while the only member of staff on duty ferried people to & from the airport. Eventually I was asked if I had a booking, i confirmed I did, gave my name & was asked if I was sure I had made a booking. This went to & fro, until I was informed that they had cancelled my booking 2 days ago due to lack of vehicles & they had emailed me to let me know. They had no vehicle suitable for maybe 4or 5 hours, so we had to wait until a suitable vehicle arrived. A waste of a whole day when you are only going away for 3 days is unacceptable, & for a car hire company to cancel 2 days before your booking is unacceptable. I will not use this company again, they are cheap for a reason.

Really impressed with Green Motion. Great staff, great prices and great vehicles. The only thing that lets them down is the location. You have to walk a distance out in the open from Liverpool Airport to the pick up point in a car park down the road. OK in fine weather, but not if it's raining! They then collect you within about 10 mins and take you to their office. That's the only reason I didn't award 5 stars.

Car was nearly new.Cleaned and efficient.The service of the pickup was a little slow but it was ok.The thing that I dont agree and that I think its not fair is the 87 sterling administration charge that they will force you to charge in case of a car ticket contravension .I think its ridiculous and its a way of making money from customers.To be honest I had one parking ticket but I was quick enough to pay it before it got to Greenmotion. So I didnt paid any further charges. But sometimes you will know that you got a ticket after you give them the car back.But in general Im satisfied and the price for the car is very reasonable .

Arrived at location, no car clearly ready, useless member of staff completely incapable of sorting out a relatively small issue with license (despite providing proof of address etc), couldn’t do anything to be helpful and had to walk half an hour home. They provide very bad service! Kindly read more comments then you will find many complaints about Green motion UK. Don't use their rental car. 1. They charged me at 1300 euro but the scratch mark is not obvious. It can be found by specialists but not customers. 2. We had requested a baby car seat when we booked the car. However, the baby car seat which they rented for us was very dirty. It was dusty and full of dirt marks. Besides, they refused to help us to set up the baby car seat and said that they never provide this service because of their company policy.

I have hired with green motion twice. First time I was given a nearly empty fuel tank so that I had to buy fuel at a quite expensive petrol station which was nearby. Otherwise everything OK. Second time I didn't get to drive to car. I missed my flight due to check in problems. So I called green motion in Birmingham to tell them I would be delayed. I was only told my reservation would be cancelled and they couldn't do anything as the system would class this as a no show. This is particularly ridiculous as my booking confirmation says it would be only classified as a no show if no contact to the branch is made. Another call and showing up in the branch (5h too late) did not change anything. My paid car was gone. I had to hire another car from a different company which cost me a fortune as it was on the same day. I do understand that no shows on reservations have to be handled like this. However, this wasn't a no show. I called twice!! I did not get my money back. A complaint to the official email address has so far not achieved anything. That was a great start into my holidays....

Have traveled extensively and this is the worst hire car company I have ever dealt with, save yourself the time money and hassle, go with some one reputable. First we had to ring multiple times and wait an hour for them to pick us up a privilege they wanted 2 pounds for which was not communicated in advance. Then we ended up sat in their reception with another customer whilst a member of staff just sat in the office and ignored us. He only bothered to come through and serve when the man who picked us up from the airport came through and told him to serve the customers. The customer in front of us had some kind of disagreement with the staff and stormed out demanding to be taken back to the airport where he could deal with a decent hire car company. Then it was our turn they tried repeatedly to pressure us into buying an upgrade telling us we would save the cost because of the newer engine in the upgrade, we eventually relented as we had a lot of luggage and he insisted the boot was much bigger. When we saw the "upgrade" the boot was no bigger so we demanded the car we originally booked. Unsurprisingly at this point the story we got about fuel efficiency and engine sizes was a total lie as well. The car we had booked was a modern 1.6l diesel not the old 2.2l petrol engine that he was telling us. Car was in good condition and we had for 11 days but when we returned it the staff told us it was too dirty (crumbs and mud in the driver footwell), I have returned cars in worse states to other companies and not been charged. The staff member referred to a box on the rental which said No animals, no smoking valeting fee of £96. We had not had animals or smoked in the car but he said it would take 20 mins to clean so we would have to pay £96. Think I am going into valeting as that is £288 per hour. As we had got back early we refused to pay and took the car to be cleaned ourselves, we were 30 mins early and the staff member threatened us with another days charge if we didn't get the car back in 30 mins. Apparently the hour leeway I have seen in one of their management responses only applies when they are not trying to extort money from you. In the end to get the car valeted inside and out took less than 20 mins but we were lucky we were not in a rush for our flight as we would have had no choice to pay. Avoid using this company.

I've used these twice now as it's so cheap and the service it good. The staff are really relaxed an friendly and the price for the cars is great. I would definiatly be using these again if needed

Friendly enough staff but not clear on costs.. Cheap prices ended up costing more than other places. Found out on return a mark on wheel trim (my fault) was not covered and the extra £125 we paid didn't actually cover the excess. Will stick with companies like enterprise from now on. All in all car advertised st sub £50 cost nearly £500 for 5 days!

After a number of rentals I can say the following - excellent, new, reasonable spec cars, friendly service, excellent prices. On both occasions very reasonable when examining for existing damage. Would recommend bringing plenty of ID (passport, utility bill) in hard copy as they seem to like more than other companies to avoid any issues. Friendly staff. I will rent from them again.

The worst car rental company in the country by a land slide. Stay clear of this company there nothing but scam artists. My 70 year old parents needed a rental car for 2 weeks and paid 350 for the rental then 1000 for a deposit if there was any damages ect which is fair enough. When they returned the car in pwrfect condition the company refused to give the deposit back and said they had signed something saying the deposit is not really a deposit its the price of the car so it cost them 1350 to rent a Peugeot 3008 for 2 weeks. Absolute day light robbery. Will be seaking legal advice.

I have used the Liverpool Branch twice now and I couldn't fault the service I received. Fast pickup and I needed to be back for my return flight early and they had me back to the airport in rapid time. I am just about to book them again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Google asks "How was green motion?"...my answer would be cheap, shabby, unprofessional and not worth the small saving compared to proper car hire firms. This year I have rented decent cars through Sixt, Alamo, Europcar all without issue. There's no doubt that they were all more expensive than these clowns but you get what you pay for. Didn't get the car I booked, made a mistake on not checking the car well enough to spot a little scuff on an alloy (yes I agree... My own silly fault!) and then got stung for £135 even though I know I didn't cause that damage. Before booking I read all these reviews and decided that the people who were charged extra probably deserved it. Now I'm not sure! Make your own mind up but I'd be willing to bet that you will only use them once. This firm likely won't exist in a few years time as, whilst there will always be an endless supply of staff willing to do this kind of work, they will have no credibility.

Be careful with this company! They find ways to make you pay extra! The employee at the Liverpool Airport location told us we needed to have a hard copy of our return flight or of our address. We were not told this in advance and we could not find this rule in the terms and conditions. The employee did not offer any possible solutions and turned down all of our proposed solutions (email our details to him, let him take a photo of the details on our phone). He told us it wasn't possible to email him or the specific location. The solution he repeatedly offered was to buy full cover insurance. He said we had to act quickly because our reservation would end after 2 hours. It was the worst possible service we've ever received and it was all based on a lie the employee came up with to force customers to pay extra for full cover insurance. In the end, we were able to send our details to the location (verifying that his earlier statement about this was a lie) and he printed the details. This was after an hour of constant discussion.

Never got the car we had booked so got a car they were using for drop offs which was still getting cleaned when we arrived for it, they never spotted a broken light until we were just about to go, we drove straight to destination an it was parked up until we drove straight back with it they spotted a scratch on a wheel which we had definitely not done and was charged £174 I would definitely NEVER use these again.

Hired a car for a week and the staff were very helpful. Best prices around he found me the best deal with a very low deposit. Most company’s were asking for massive silly deposits which I couldn’t afford but Greenmotion offered an excellent low deposit. Staff were fantastic. I wanted a particular car but they explained to me the radio was broken which was very honest of them. Would recommend and use them again! Thank you.

Ordered an Volkswagen Passat Estate. Received an Kia niro hybrid. A much lower class car, but still paid full price. And the tires of the Kia Niro were totally worn out, that resulted in a flat tire. Now 4 months later still waiting for a refund of the parking fine due to the flat tire! Never again Green Motion!

Firstly they are based in an industrial estate away from the airport, fine if they are collecting you from the airport but I was in a taxi and relying on sat nav. There is a sign directing you further down the street which the sat nav takes you to but this is incorrect, you actually need to go back out to main road and up to the next roundabout to get in. The signage on the actual office isn’t visible from the road the sat nav takes you to, needs sorting as a priority. Don’t risk booking if you have any points on your license, I was told on the phone that I was ok up to a maximum of 6 points when I finally found them they refused to hire to me as I had 6 points. They then wanted to treat my refund as a cancellation after the due collection time and charge me for 3 days hire. The owner in their response is missing the point of my review. When booking on the telephone I was told 6 points was not a problem, I was NOT told it may be ok to have 6 points on your license or asked for details of the reason of the points, which would have saved me a very stressful and unnecessary journey if nothing else. Surprised and disappointed they chose not to respond to my other comments on signage and direction, which from a business point of view is probably more important in terms of customer satisfaction to them.

The landlord told us that we have to pay a toll for the Liverpool Bridge and it has to be paid on the same day. That is what we have done. Nevertheless, Green Motion bills us for this and we have to pay the penalty for it. We have sent proof of this that we paid to Green Motion. Nevertheless, Green Motion provides us with further bills. Emails are not responded to!!!! Pure rip-off!! They don't even answer when you contact them.
