Timmins Airport
Dear Ms/Sir,
On December 23, 2014, a security officer at the Timmins Airport security check in, who was less than courteous or respectful, said “let me see your boarding pass” without greeting. Beyond being uninviting, I would say his tone was even rude. He has gray hair, probably early to mid sixties. I made no comment, handed my boarding pass, put my items in a bin and walked through the security gate. The female security attendant was kind and smiling. I was selected for random secondary screening, so she called for that same man. Again his tone was rude, condescending and quite disrespectful. As he did the swabs I commented: “Your tone and demeanor are very condescending and disrespectful. As a frequent traveler I would say maybe one of the worst I have experienced. “ He answered “good.” I then said: “Wow, definitely disrespectful.” His answer: “watch what you’re saying to me man.”
As a very frequent international flyer, this man did not intimidate me, but I can imagine he could intimidate many. I would assume that is not the reputation The Timmins Airport wants. I take the time to write this letter because I believe that man would benefit from sensitivity training along with customer service initiatives.
Since moving to the USA, I fly in and out of Timmins only a few times per year, so if you choose to not address the situation I certainly won’t be affected., but certainly many will be.
Thank you for considering my suggestion.
