I called to reserve a car because i knew the booth was closing at 1:00 in halifax airport. So I wanted to make sure it would be open The clerk on the phone assured me they would wait for me. The second day i realize the pickup time was wrong. It said 12:55pm when it was suppose to be 1:05 am. I called. The lady over the phone supposely made the change. Then tonight my flight was delayed. I called and AGAIN i was told that someone would wait for me. Guess what? I ran into an empty booth Very very disapointed. Who are paying the 68$ cab ride? Hertz has been only but trouble. Never again. You lost me as a customer Choose anyone but Hertz
Booked a car several days in advance to be picked up after hours (12:30 am). Gave them my flight number and what time I would likely be arriving and when I show up the counter is closed and no one is anywhere to be found. Called the customer service line the next day and they confirmed my reservation information was correct and had my flight information as well. Book elsewhere, you never know when these guys are going to strand you without a damn car in the middle of the night.
We were helped by Jean-Michel at the Halifax airport location and we couldn't have been happier with his kindness, hospitality, problem solving abilities etc etc! Thank you for making our wedding trip a great one from the moment we arrived in Halifax!
I wish I could give ZERO stars!!! I have been loyal to Hertz for many years now for all of my car rental needs, I enjoyed the great rates, friendly reps, and convenient locations, but this is one time too many that I have taken abuse from this company. I rented a 2018 Toyota Carolla for ONE day, drove 75km (47miles), and got billed $140 in fuel charges. Let me mention that I returned the car on FULL, and still got billed extra. Let's even say I didn't return it on full, my statement clearly says I drove 75km(47 miles). A 2018 Corolla should do 35 miles per gallon easily, at the $9.99 per gallon rate that was quoted to me by the customer service agent, I should be billed no more than $15 extra ASSUMING I ACTUALLY DID NOT REFILL MY TANK, which I did! I had to fight with customer service to refund me a PORTION of my money, and I only accepted because I am mentally drained from this entire ordeal. I also want to mention that they never once took responsibility. My rental 4 months ago ended on a sour note as well when Hertz attempted to bill me for a blemish on bumper of the rental, that I was not responsible for. Not only did the rep not do a walk around at the time of the rental, but he also lied about doing that walk around. After battling for days to have that resolved, they once again waived the charges but refused to take ownership for their mistakes. After my first bad experience, I decided that one bad experience was not enough to turn me away from a company I have enjoyed renting from for years, but after today, I will never be renting from Hertz again. Two horrible experiences back to back is something I cannot overlook. I have yet to receive an apology and I truly do not feel valued as a customer. Needless to say, I will no longer be renting from Hertz and I will warm others in my network to avoid them at all cost!

Denise ruined our trip by giving the worst service possible
So recently i visited hertz to pickup my rental vehicle. The lady who was at the front desk I don’t she was having bad day or she is always like that as she was behaving really rude. She was talking to me like I’m unknown person to canada. Her customer service was below expectations. I always choose hertz company for my rental car but now i feel they hire such ridiculous people that make you feel like you’re not belong to this country and you are an IMMIGRANT. I won’t recommend anybody to use their service. REALLY bad experience. THATS NOT HOW CANADA REPRESENTS ITS COMMUNITY.
Made a reservation a week in advance through Hotwire for a compact vehicle. When we arrived, there was a long line and we probably waited a good 30 minutes in it. There was one person working at 7am and he was on "slow as you go" which was frustrating for many people in line who had obviously just flown into Halifax on red-eye flights. When it was my turn, the agent decided it was time to check his mobile phone for a few minutes of swiping. Finally he took my DL and credit card and started to draw up the paperwork. Then he said he only had a Ford F150 or a Yukon. I said no I had booked a compact and had given them the correct arrival time so that's what I wanted. He said if I wanted a compact, I would just have to wait an hour or two. I refused and said, no, give me an economy or even a mid-size car but I dont' want a gas-guzzling vehicle. He said none were available and I'd either have to wait or take what they had. I asked if they would throw in a free tank of gas since it was not the vehicle I had booked. Apparently they won't do that either! So I ended up with a Sedona mini-van (we were 2 ppl in an 8 seater vehicle)! It was absolutely filthy inside & out. When we put the back seats down, it was full of sunflower seeds and other food. The outside was covered in mud. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again! Terrible service!!!!
Important if you aren't coming directly from the terminal. The address google gives you (Barnes and Baldwin) is NOT for the rental office, but their cleaning bay. You need to go to the airport itself
The car that rented out has issue. The roadside assistance never pick up the phone call. Rent here is you would like having troubles during your trip. Horrible experience guaranteed.

There's not much to be said here. Service was fairly slow, but that was more the fault of the chatty people in front of us rather than the workers. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The only real issue was that navigating to the exit from where the rentals were parked was confusing. Some more signage and pavement markings would have been helpful.
I would have wrote a Trip Advisor review but couldn’t find Hertz at Halifax Airport on Trip Advisor! Anyways, had a Dana tasting experience renting a car for our first family trip to Nova Scotia. Brittany, who served us, was absolutely fantastic. Being in the Hotel business myself, I immediately noticed her expertise in hospitality and was so pleased with the experience she provided us with. Not only did she tell us about our full sized vehicle, she also acted as Concierge (which is my position!!!) and was soooo knowledgeable about the Halifax and surrounding area. She provided us with restaurant recommendations, attractions, and shopping. Thank you so much brittany for making our first interaction in Nova Scotia such a great one.
The car was brand new, no issues during a week rental, easy to find/drive from the parking lot. Service was impeccable both times (during pick-up and return). Returning process was very convenient (employee meets you at the parking lot).

I recently rented from this location for a three week trip to the US--Hertz seemed to be the only company that allowed unlimited kms and permits one to drive across the border. In terms of freedom, the rental was good value. The Camry I rented was very spacious and fuel efficient, and this location seems to offer quite a bit of model variety. However, a few drawbacks: Hertz offers a liability waiver, which absolves the driver of any responsibility for damage to the car. Without this waiver, the driver is responsible for all damage, even if not at fault for an accident. The cost of the waiver was over $400, and was promoted very aggressively by the agent. I opted to have the same coverage provided by my own auto insurer for negligible cost. As a driver under the age of 25, a young renter fee of $550 was applied, which is understandable given the increased risk of a younger driver. However, to add a second driver of the same age, the young renter fee is applied again, despite the fact that only one young driver will be driving the car at a time either way. In this way, Hertz severely disincentivizes having two or more drivers which could reduce the likelihood of having an accident due to driver fatigue.
They tried to charge us for winter tires, this should be done at no additional charge to keep your customers safe and your vehicles is good working order
Grear priçes in Halifax but not so much in Sudbury
Hurtz refused to acknowledge that my reservation was in Canadian dollars and tried all possible excuses to not refund me the $60 they overcharged me. After almost a week of trying to get the refund I went the route of disputing charges with my CC. Well, i was threatened by one of their reps that the matter will be sent to a collection agency. I had the reservation receipt proving I was supposed to be charged in CAD, they wouldn't listen or look at the proof I had. Customer service is terrible, it felt as if the reps were taught to fight tooth and nail to prove the customer is wrong, despite the customer having proof the company screwed up.

I would probably give zero or -ve stars if there was an option. I'm a president circle member with Hertz and booked an midsize car few months before my trip. During the pick up of the vehicle i was offered a dodge ram truck. I never drove truck before and don't feel safe/comfortable driving one. I asked them to give me a car which I have booked or even smaller, CSR at Hertz treated me like he was doing me an favor. He Told me you can wait for vehicles to come from return as he only have trucks. I ask how long and the answer was He don't know. I have to spend $200 more to get car from other Rental location as CSR didn't gave me straight answer that when he can have car ready for me. Will never recommend anyone this location.
would rate 0 stars if i could, seriously the most disgusting display of customer service. Back in July my boyfriend and i rented a car online, it was already paid for but upon pick up at the airport his meg strip on the back of the card didn't work. they refused to manually type in the card information or let us use mine so we could be on our way and enjoy our vacation. Instead, they told us there was nothing they could do and we were stranded at the airport cause the car was our only way out. The manager didn't seem to care at all as it was a younger girl at the till and the manager seemed too busy on her phone to help us out. Ended up walking down the line and went with Alamo who treated us with such respect and felt so bad we waited around so long before coming to them. GO TO ALAMO.

Worst manager on duty ever, we rented a car on the 26th of June from Halifax airport we got the travel tab she told us it’s up to 9 devices to be connected, on our way for a 12 hour trip we realized that the tab can only connect up to 5 devices. I called to ask what is going on with the internet, the manager on duty she mentioned she will call me back. I waited for an hour and she didn’t call back, I called back she was I was just about to give you a call back. I was wrong I gave you the wrong device it’s only for 5 devices, I was like we’re 7 in the car with 3 kids and we need internet for our trip, you ruined our trip, we shouldn’t be paying for that , this manager was like go return it in Moncton. Why as a customer I need to pay for an employee’s fault and she’s called a manager on duty with 0 customer service. When I asked her what’s her name she hang up on me. Thanks Hertz for picking 0000000 customer service managers on duty to ruin people’s trip experiences.
Booked a car weeks in advance, paid majority of the amount beforehand oneline via Priceline with a small balance due at pick up. When we arrived they didn't have the car we booked and the remaining balance they had on their files was more than what I actually owed and naturally they couldn't do anything about it. The guy was rude and told us we had to wait an hour and half for our vehicle to arrive. That's the first and last time we use these idiots.

We booked a Q4 SUV (RAV4 or similar) online with Hertz for our Maritime Vacation because we would be taking one large suitcase and two carry-ons sized bags; stated capacity is 2x large suitcases and 2x carry-on sized bags. When we arrived at the Hertz Marriot Halifax rental location the clerk stated that the vehicle would be a Chevy Trax, but that we could upgrade for a cost. When I explained that we booked a RAV4 or similar vehicle she said that the Trax was; after driving it for two weeks it most definitely is not! The visibility flap in the trunk allowed only the large suitcase to fit, with the carry-ons going in the backseat. When we decided that we should just fold down the back seats, we found out that the seat bottom needed to sit behind the seat in order to allow the seat backs to fold down. This restricted the distance the front seats could be moved, while also preventing the transport of any other individuals. We are extremely dissatisfied with the attempt to upsell us when she could not deliver a suitable vehicle. Upon drop-off at Halifax Airport no attempt was made by the staff to rectify the issue when we voiced our displeasure. The only silver lining was perhaps slightly better gas mileage, maybe. Extremely dissatisfied with this experience at Hertz, especially considering that my experience with other rental companies has been much better!
The worst experience we have ever had traveling. We made a reservation long in advance with Hertz to pick up a car at the Halifax Nova Scotia Airport. I did not bring the credit card with me that I made the reservation with. They would not accept my husband's credit card, or cash! We had to cancel the reservation and pay three times the amount to get a car. We spent an hour on the phone with customer service being shuttled back and forth and in the end ended up paying $900 instead of $300 for our car. We will never ever use Hertz again
Dealing with the horrible customer service and utter lack of professionalism from Hertz in the Halifax Airport really ruined our whole experience in N.S. In my opinion I highly recommend that you AVOID this location. They charged us extra for no reason and Brittany (the rep we dealt with) was rude, condescending and provided the worst customer service. More detail: My husband and I rented a vehicle and were provided an invoice for all the charges when we picked up the car. Half way into our trip my husband noticed that hertz has charged his card an extra 88 dollars. We thought this was mistake that would easily be resolved. We also had no extra charges added on after we dropped off the car. At the counter we were welcomed by Maggie. We showed her the receipt and my husbands online statement and she couldn’t seem to figure out what was wrong but did say “something isn’t adding up”. She hands it over to her colleague Brittany who instead of admitting that something was off and trying to help figure it out, went on to tell us that we were wrong. My husband pulled up the receipt, a calculator and his statement again. She said it was because we returned the vehicle late but we were actually 1 hour early. When she realized this she then said that it was because we picked it up from the airport so it’s more expensive. We once again showed her the receipt which already had those taxes included but there was still a discrepancy. Let me also note that she was not looking into anything at this point. She was just ignoring what we were showing her and just spitting out these reasons that made no sense. Finally after she ran out of excuses she went into her managers office, came back out and said it was because we have two reservations under our name. Which again didn’t make sense so we asked her to explain. Instead of doing that she gave up, went back into her managers office and never came back. Her manager who was being polite actually looked into the problem, listened to my husband and I and told us that Hertz made a mistake and charged us extra. He said that the charges should correct on their own. It’s now been 4 days but nothing has been solved. We will now have to call customer service. I really wish I could Give zero stars Brittany showed so much disrespect with her condescending attitude and her horrible customer service. She reacted to us in a very defensive and hostile way from the get go. For the organizations sake I really encourage you to provide Brittany some intensive training on good customer service and conflict resolution. She was unable to listen properly, unable to explain anything, unable to resolve the problem, and unable to meet client needs. If she had acknowledged the problem but not been able to help I would have respected that much more than making excuses, getting heated, walking away, and just being outright rude. She is making your organization look horrible. Because of this experience I will never be renting from Hertz again.

Was scared of the other reviews at first, but honestly it was great… picked up the car in halifax and dropped it off in toronto, cars with winter tires were available. No extra charges even though I dropped it off after hours (some reviews mention they charge extra for that)
Did not wait for delayed flight. had to await until opening at 6:30am and was charged extra and unexplained fee for "Loss Damage Waiver" that is unnecessary when you have car insurance.

Personally did not get a rental. Was renting a car from Budget rentals and they took our money and scammed us, tried to lie and take our deposit of $400. Now stuck for the rest of the trip we were is obvious distress and this gentleman came to our assistance with the best knowledge he had. I believe his name is Joey. Thanks to Joey we know the proper Do’s and Don’ts now when we are travelling and renting but also he helped us get the information we needed and helped make us feel better about being stranded in a random province and airport. From now on we will use Hertz, never budget EVER again. Thank you Joey you deserve recognition.

Never Rebt From HERTZ One of the worst vendor in this airport. Won’t answer the call. Billed for extra hours even after dropping the key in the drop box early in the morning until the staff came to work. Didn’t get any answer for the case raised. No response about the lost and found. I have rented vehicles from other vendors in the same airport. This is the first and last time dealing with Hertz.
