They are running a SCAM - hidden charges, horrible customer service, unprofessional, no care for others time & life. They just want to rip you off in any way they can. If you’re smart enough to not pay charges when you came in they’ll surely get you when you drop off. Avoid this company at all costs - if I had knew before I would have gladly paid extra to any big company then getting ripped of or dealing with these guys. Should be reported to consumer court

I rented a car in Vancouver. On return there was Scuff mark on the passenger side of the Highlander. A good buff would cleaned this up. I was charged $3000 for damages. When I sent it to my insurance company, the “repair” cost went to $6300. I was then asked to pay $900 direct to the car rental company so they could sign off on the insurance companies settlement offer. They are crooks.

False advertising, misleading, and rude customer service. Vehicle wasn’t even clean. I booked a rental online and pre-paid in full for a vehicle, which included UNLIMITED mileage. When I got there, I was charged additional fees and told its not unlimited mileage. They also charge $5 per day to use your own coverage/insurance. No other rental I’ve been to charges to use your own coverage.

Never book with this company, they made us wait hours to get the vehicle and I ended up missing all my appointments. When we did receive the vehicle it was not cleaned, the gas was not even half full, and the engine lights on the dashboard were on. When we tried to talk with the customer representative, they instead went on to ask why we were complaining. This is not acceptable since it’s Covid and it’s their responsibility to give us a clean and well maintained vehicle. Management should really take a look at who they’re hiring. I was forced to go to another car rental establishment and do not know if I’ll get refund back.

This the worst car rental company in canada. They go by the name jet car rental, economy or fox car rental. Their customer service is worst. You get transferred, hanged up everytime you called. They have hidden fees on car insurance. Every ticket they paid on your behalf has SERVICE FEE of $50. WORST COMPANY! SAVE YOURSELF THOSE HASSLES AND STRESS!

This rental company has cheaper options than the ones found at the airport. Hard to find a shuttle from the Pearson airport to the rental location. You may need to Uber or wait for the shuttle which runs every 30min or so. I wasn’t able to get extend the rental on phone but the vehicle was in perfect condition. You’ll require proof of insurance or pay for insurance.

When I booked online it said unlimited km, it wasn't. It was 200km per day and I was charged $5/day to use my credit card insurance. Come here if you like hidden fees and fine print.

Complete thiefs. Booking price was half of a tual price, secondly for 3 days extra I paid 1.5X more than what I paid for the whole week. Believe that? At booking time it said unlimited km actually it was only 200km/day. Go to name brand rental car companies avis budget dollar enterprise hertz etc. At least they will give u what they charge for and have no hidden gimmicks like these piece of s- - - rental company. I will never ever head to this place ever. Also. Fox rent a car and economy rent a car are the same ppl. Complete thiefs. The only problem is that brown ppl think that can become rich overnight by ripping customers off while actually the only think that will make them grow is rapport. Only if they new what this meant. DONT GET RIPPED OFF Also no one in this office has even heard of customer service let alone delivering it.

I wish I saw these reviews prior to renting a car from this place. The only thing they had in abundance was excuses, customer service not so much. They seemed like they could care less about any one’s predicament or the inconvenience their poor service was creating. On the web it said no hidden costs, lies, do yourself a favour, don’t go to this company thing you’re going to save money. Go to one of the big guys instead, they’ll treat you right and get you out and on the road in minutes, with economy rent a car I waited close to two hours.

The only way I can understand how *actual* customers have rated this company high, is that they either lawyers who read all contractual points, or did not receive the 407 invoices after the rent yet!! They will give you a different price online or on Hotwire and add fees and charges. Customer service is a nightmare I have my own insurance but they insisted taking their insurance is mandatory. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE. They are literary scammers. Reserved a car for two weeks from them from Priceline and when I got there they wanted to charge me for insurance even tho my credit card has full coverage and also they added random extra charges so the price of the car became double the price I was promised. They are legit thieves and scammers at this place. Also the customer services was below par since all the workers have a very bad attitude and I strongly suggest you find another place for rentals.

Economy is the WORST rental car ever. Guys behind the counter are very rude. Don't be fooled by looking at the online prices. You will end up paying way more than a reputable rental car. I booked this through Hotwire. So I am partly rating Hotwire as well. When booking it clearly showed unlimited mileage. Upon picking up car was told unlimited was in Ontario only. So that means since I was going to Quebec I was limited to 200 km per day. Additional was 20 cents per km. I was told I should have read the special terms and conditions and I would have know about the limited kms. These special terms were buried inside another link, so a bit crafty I must say. Also despite having my own insurance, credit card and auto, I was still charger $6 per day. Again in their special terms. Almost seems like an illegal practice to charge for this insurance. They hook you in with the low prices and at the last minute you have no choice but to accept. So this low rating applies to Hotstar as well.

Alert for future consumers- Illegal Service Charges - They made me sign the contract without explaining anything about it. I used toll road for couple of day in Sept 2021. They added illegal service charge of $50 on the transaction. $50 service charge is TOOO high and illegal. My toll charges was ONLY $45. In theory they charge me 110% more than what I actually owe. Be careful. this company is greedy and their contract is hostile to the consumer.

Zero star if I can. Dirty interior and I used 4 sheets of kitchen towel to wipe driver side only. Switched other car twice all because smoking smell inside. Counter forced me to buy their insurance or $5/day if I want to use my own pre-arranged rental car insurance. I made reservation through Hotwire, and their website did not mention mandatory rental insurance or $5/day insurance transfer fee. Hotwire refused to help me when I called them at the time. Hotwire even suggested me to cancel my booking with penalty if I like. Terrible experience with Hotwire and Economy Car rental. I wonder these two companies have really low ratings and reviews in the public, and are their employees proud to work at the company?

Spend the extra few bucks and go somewhere else for your sanity. They are a literal 2 minutes from the airport but took 40 minutes to come pick us up. Once we arrived at their place, another 45 minutes to actually receive the car. Almost 2 hours to check out from a place 2 min from the airport. The car interior was dirty, needed to be wiped down and vacuumed. The back seat was wet so my minor had to sit up front AND the car reeked of cigarette smoke and air freshener. Was unbearable. I would have asked to switch cars but I didn’t have another 2 hours to waste. While there waiting for my car, I witnessed them trying to convince a man that a 4 seat hatchback was an SUV he paid for. Also witnessed them telling a couple they had to wait 30min for a shuttle to the airport, which was 2 minutes away. The price was great, but next time I’ll Skip the bargain and pay for some level of quality. Update: 5 months later, they charged my account $50 for a $1.30 toll. That was after the additional insurance and other up charges.

This place will charge you to make use of your credit cards insurance or any other additional non liability insurance (collision, damage etc) it was about 5$/day for us, make sure you have a policy number for any additional insurance from your credit card as well. Other than that and the long wait, and really poorly maintained interior renting a car went pretty smooth for us, we got a pretty nice car for a decent price and no surprise charges when we returned it

Aweful! Reserved a 12 seater 'Sprinter or Similar' van for family vacation and received a beaten up cargo van with seats. (It turns out they don't even have any Sprinters in their fleet). This is what we got - broken seat belts, salt marks on carpet, door won't close property, rear indicator bulb blown (see pictures). And it wasn't just me. While in the office to get service, there was a queue of dissatisfied customers with one complaint or another. My advice - keep away! I ended up spending the majority of my first vacation day trying to find a replacement van :(

Wish I could give 0 stars, worst place on earth. Worst customer service, they don't know how to deal with customers. I know it can be hard when it's busy but they behave rudely with customers and everyone has to wait for 1-2 hours unnecessary. And on top of that, they charge too many hidden charges and our car rent went from 37 to 150. Shut this place down if you can't run properly.

I reserved a car from this company through Hotwire. It was a disgusting experience. On my Hotwire reservation it said Unlimited Mileage. When we picked up the car the agent had us initial all the appropriate boxes very quickly - we showed him the reservation that said Unlimited Mileage and he said he's not concerned about the mileage. The car had issues with keys and was not in top shape. when we dropped the car off they asked us for $730 for extra mileage. When we showed him the printed reservation from Hotwire that said Unlimited Mileage he then directed us to some vey fine print that said .02 cents for extra mileage beyond 4,000 if you are travelling within the country. .20 cents if you take the car out of the country. We didn't take the car out of the country and they insisted on the .20 cents. Why - they wouldn't give us an answer, we also advised them at the beginning that we were taking the car to the Maritimes but the agent said he's not concerned about the mileage. I contacted Hotwire and they said they have nothing to do with the car rental policies but yet they advertised Unlimited Mileage. I actually called the rental company to find out if there are any hidden costs and there were some, ie: extra driver, transfer of insurance to our insurance company and he confirmed that was all. This is a scam and I would stay away from this company as well as renting vehicles from Hotwire.

We decided to rent a car, only to know they have an age filter after you pay through your credit card! Worst part is if you go online and book a car from their website, they ask you for your age, and then make excuses while renting it that they have a policy where only 23 years old can rent their cars. All we need is a credit card. Book a car and they don't mention anything on the website about your age. 21 years of age having a valid G2 License CANNOT rent a car. If you have an age restriction YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE PAYMENTS and process anything further while filling up the information with your birthdays!!! Let me quote the two guys working at the front desk named according to them Gurman and Sharam "We are not responsible for anything! Do whatever you have to! We as in the company have a tie up with a third party car rental website they took your payment, fight with them I am not doing anything I am leaving my hands in the air. WE CANT HELP YOU! " This is customer service???? They gave us a card with their head office's number in it, I will personally give a thanks to someone who are able to reach them. Calling from Monday haven't heard back anything since last 7 days. They took a total payment of CAD $230.67 from my credit card (Best part there is no hold on credit card it is directly charged so once it is processed it is done) out of which CAD $187.46 were charged in the name of Economy RAC (E-Commerce) and CAD $43.21 were charged in the name of Car rentals. Now lets talk about refund... wait hold on what is there to talk have not heard back! They are a shame in the name of customer service and if you call them to know the status of your refund process, they will say we did not take your money on our machine so we don't care. ARE YOU KIDDING!! The worst part we get a hold on them ONCE after being on hold for 30-50 minutes every single day. Google please add the option of 0 stars! Honestly they do not even deserve a zero star.

Also the car windshield was awful when it rains you can't even see through it there was something smudged on the window very disappointed. And a very quick cleaning I had to reclean it. They charge extra despite having full insurance coverage and though the rental is open at 4:30am, we were charged a fee plus other exorbitant charges. Staff is very friendly and if you read the policies before hand you will be informed of local renters only getting 200km/day and about the insurance that everyone on here seems to be complaining about. For you to use own insurance they charge $11/day. So for me it wasn’t a surprise because I read over the polices before hand and was ok with them. Only issue i have with this place (and reason it got 3 stars) is because of the following (and has to do with the car cleanliness/exterior damage: -driver sideview mirror was cracked -dents and scratches all over -Over all cleanliness inside wasn’t the greatest. Dirty areas and cupholders, winter salt stains on carpet while others looked to be shampooed. Overall, I was pleased with this company and given those issues will rent from them again. Read the polices carefully

I have never had such a terrible experience at a car rental place in my life. The customer service was so poor it was insulting. They hung up the phone on me twice when I called to be picked up at the airport. They refused my credit card insurance and charged me for using my own auto insurance. The vehicle was not cleaned very well either. DO NOT RENT from this establishment. You are better off paying a little extra for a place that will treat you with kindness and will not force you to buy their products. I would give this place a negative rating if I could .

I have rented cars tens if not hundreds of times, this company is by far the bottom worst. They take u hostage, don't honor ur contract and they treat u like F.U. nothing u can do. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. I booked a luxury car they downgraded me 2 full categories although I paid upfront at booking time. And the booking on emails says Unlimited milage, they limited it to 200km a day. And refused to refund me. Really, have not seen like them before.

We rented the car for a weekend, we received an old car. This was very unusual as most rental agencies have only new cars. The size of the car was falsely advertised as well. The car was damaged quite a bit on the exterior, which was recorded when we initiated the rental. The interior was not at all clean, and had pet hair and stains all over the car. This is especially dangerous during COVID. They only offer only limited milage which was not specified at the time of booking unlike other rental agencies. There is a 17% airport tax (even though the place is not in the airport and 10 mins away from the airport - which makes it inconvenient to visit the rental) on top of the 13% GST, resulting in overall 30% incremental to the specified price. They have a surcharge on insurance as well, even if you have your own insurance which is unusual compared to other rental agencies as well. Overall, we ended up spending quite a significant amount - double of booking amount which was already inclusive of taxes. We could've taken a much more premium car with unlimited milage from other rental agencies.

Update. Google alone has over 2000 reviews for this rental location and the rating is 2 stars. Read and use the sort function before you waste your time here. Avoid this car rental option. This location has terrible customer service, sub standard location, complicated process, and hidden costs. Rent at the airport for less money and better service. The shuttle has to be called and their phone service is always busy due to poor operations. They took more than 2 hours to set up the documents and get us in the car. The car was also dirty on the inside and had a lot of damage for 1000km of service. The daily mileage limit was not made clear when making the reservation. Spend your money elsewhere. Update: After reading other reviews, we should comment on the damage scam. When we checked out the car, we did take photos of every side. They tried to charge us for damage to the front of the vehicle that was clear in an image we took, when we returned the car. We argued back and forth about the image and when it was taken even though it was date stamped by Google. Ridiculous. They tried to say that we took the image the same day. If all of us can escalate this "fine honest Canadian business" to media again,, it would be nice to see them held accountable or in best case closed. It's been over 5 days and the security charge on my credit card is still not refunded. We are following up on the security deposit because of the false damage scam. We have notified and sent similar reviews to Kayak and Booking.com because ridiculous businesses like this one affect their reputations. We were redirected from Kayak to Booking.

DON'T RENT FROM THIS PLACE. Worst customer service I've ever seen. 1) They don't have a shuttle that regularly goes to the airport to pick up customers. 2) If you try to call them for a pick up, they never answer their phone. 3) If you get through, they lie. 4) They take reservations and then can't fulfill them, leaving you stranded unless you're willing to wait hours before a car is returned. 5) They try to force you to buy their insurance. To avoid it you need to present your proof of insurance (which no one has in their wallet). Even if you can prove you have insurance, they make you pay a fee for refusing to buy their insurance. 6) They take a larger deposit for the car than any other car rental service ($500 vs. $200). 7) You can't pick up or drop off a car after 9p. 8) They refuse to give you a receipt to prove you returned the car with no new damage. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

This place is a complete burglar. I have purchased a rental car and insurance through hotwire.com and when I arrived to the agency for a pick up, they asked me to pay insurance comprehensive coverage on top of what I purchased online which is $11.95 per day. Hotwire.com provides unlimited kilometres for rental vehicles, and when I arrived to the agency, they told me that they will provide me only 267km/day. I asked them to cancel my reservation and provide me with a refund and they told me that I cannot have my money back and I asked them to provide me a statement where it says that I am not eligible for any refunds and they could not provide any documentations, even the manager could not provide the proof of statement. I had to cancel my reservation without a refund and could not have a better deal to get a car. Worst experience I have ever had. I am not happy of the outcome and the way they have served me like they think they will prove their point from the back of their hands which they could not. Whoever is going to read this, please have a second thought of this company before making any reservation. I would not recommend anybody to rent a car from this company in general.

Booked a car, ended up taking a cab....so many hidden fees, have to show proof of your insurance and have to pay some daily fee for insurance even if you have your own insurance that covers rental. Positives: Great price. Fast service. Negatives: I booked online from a website which said unlimited km, but once I got there, it was 200km per day. I was charged $5 per day to use my credit card insurance. I was told I'd get a Honda Odyssey or equivalent, got a junk Caravan. They are the WORST car rental I’ve ever experienced. They force you to have to pay for their insurance, even if you have your own, they charge you extra for your own. They never seem to have the vehicle you requested online either (at least 2 other people in the place at the same time with the same complaint while I was there). I returned the vehicle and within 20min they where trying to rent it to someone else who had reserved a luxury vehicle ( the car they gave me was a Toyota: even though I rented an SUV). The car smelt like smoke and had what looked like dogs hair. It says unlimited mileage on bookings, here they told me I’m an Ontario driver so I only get 400km and .20 charge after that for every km. I will never rent for them again.

This is by far the worst car rental service I have ever experinced. The staff were rude and dismissive, they were more worried about their coffee delivery than helping the lineup of customers. The shuttle was a no show at the airport and no one would answer the phone, check in took over an hour and drop off was no better. The car was not fueled when picked up and they provided misinformation about additional days for rental. This is truly the worst customer service and experience I have ever recieved.

In simple words, it's the most pathetic experience you can have with a customer. I would give it in minus if possible. The guy in front is so rude, he has no sense of engaging with customers. They will charge you all the possible hidden fees. Even if your credit card company covers insurance you have to buy it from them, on top of that you have to pay some sort of conversation fees for insurance. Those are around 12 to 15 a day. It totally rips off from what you see on the website. Call the website and complain about them in case that makes any difference.

If I could give this zero stars I would… first off… their customer service was garbage. I sat out in the heat with two children for over a half hour waiting for them to get is from the airport. Then we sat for another 45mins waiting in line to sign for our rental. There was broken glass in the parking lot which appeared to be from a side mirror. I let a staff member know that it was there and he literally kicked it to the side and still ran over it with a different vehicle. They gave me a vehicle that needed serviced and had expired stickers. When dropping off the vehicle the guy in the parking lot took my key and told me he would deal with everything and that the van was ready to go to drop off at the airport. So I juggled two kids plus luggage and they didn’t offer to help. Only a gentleman that was a customer helped me with my items. Now three days after I returned my rental I have a $344 charge on my credit card that I didn’t authorize. So I called and they said they can’t help me until morning to call back. My vehicle was refueled and was clean when I returned it. In the same condition that I received it. You get what you pay for… won’t be returning to them as a customer…

Economy rent a car has a way of bringing people together through bonding over our terrible experiences. Customer service: 3/5 (everyone was friendly and doing their best, but were unsympathetic to any complication from their policies) Company policies: 0/5 - every customer that I witnessed had some form of problem at pick up. Recommendations for future users: 1) if you are unsure of the time of your arrival, book later rather than sooner. I called 2 hours in advance of my original pickup time to give a heads up that my flight had been delayed, and they said that I would lose my car if I was late. It took 3 additional phone calls for them to finally agree to hold the vehicle to the time I was landing. 2) bring full detailed proof of insurance - particularly if you are using your own. Many people were held up because they didn’t. 3) “unlimited mileage” on Expedia does not necessarily ensure unlimited mileage at this location.

In short if you're out of time: I don't recommend it. A location away from the airport terminals, we had to wait for the van to arrive to make the transfer to the store. The service is not good, the guy at the counter, besides being rude to customers, was without the mask almost all the time. Super strange environment. It wasn't my case, but several people were complaining that they booked a car category and they said they didn't have more and they couldn't do anything. Not even refunds were made on site, they asked to send an e-mail to some address. We rented over the internet and when they got there they said they had to pay an insurance fee of whatever. It ended up being the same price as the larger rental companies. The car was good, we had no problems. Don't waste your time thinking that you'll save by renting here, in the end it will be the same price as other rental companies.

Even though I never rented from them before and never will thanks to CBC Marketplace on YouTube. Economy just SCAMS THEY’RE OWN CUSTOMERS! If you book through travel sites like Expedia and Kayak, it would say “Unlimited Mileage” when Economy gives you like a 500 kilometer limit. Insurance on the other hand. They say you have to have your policy on you like whoever carries theirs around!? I always keep mine in my own car’s glovebox. They would give you a car with damage and believe you caused it when it was there to begin with. Mark my words! Don’t take your business to Economy Rent a Car! It’s like the Spirit Airlines of rental cars. Rent from like Enterprise, Avis, National, etc. Spend the extra money, it’s totally worth it. Trust me!

UPDATE: They charged me the $500 hold with no explanation as to why. this company is a SCAM They run a scam where if you get 3rd party insurance they charge you an additional daily fee for not purchasing the insurance through them. There's nothing in the booking warning about this, and the fee is almost as much as daily insurance. They also didn't have the car available that I booked MONTHS in advance. I had to cram 5 adults into a hyundai elantra, it was so uncomfortable, and the back seat does NOT fit 3 adults across. They told me they could refund me the full amount and I could get no car at all or they'd give me the elantra. As if I had a choice at the last minute. The most frustrating part for me was that I was there for 2 hours and near the end of it a guy came in to get a mini van and he also was complaining. In his complaint he mentioned that he had just booked it 30 minutes ago while he was at the airport. Which means when I got there, they could have offered me a mini van but chose not to. I did receive a small discount in that I insisted they reverse the unexpected charges. They didn't offer that to me, I had to insist upon it.

In short, you are dealing with a ripoff company built by and benefits a bunch of thieves who are just sitting there to steal your money. My suggestion is don't even try this place because you will definitely go to be ripped off, however, if you go then pay attention to this crucial information. Remember you are not required to buy insurance from a rental company ask g as you have your own insurance and or some credit cards also have built-in insurance when you use them to get a rental car. The second, unlimited mileage is unlimited mileage no matter where you are coming from or where you are deciding to go. They have no right to charge you for extra kilometers/miles this is straightforward rubbery. Read everything before signing, there is a great chance they will make you something that allows them to steal more of your money. And finally, stand your ground. Don't let them force you to agree to something that you do not want. If they push just leave the place and find a rental car elsewhere.

The scummiest of car rental companies. It appears to cost less when you rent, but they will charge you a bunch of erroneous and fictitious "fees" that are lies and fabrications. They tell everyone that you damaged the car - EVERYONE. Just listen to people in the office. Every single person is angry with their lies and surcharges. When you book it, it says "unlimited miles" - NO! They put a milage limit on every car, and people are angry. If you bring your own insurance, with proof, they will charge an "Insurance Transfer" fee of $5/day, which no other car rental company has ever charged me in decades of renting. It's a complete fabrication. They show the completely wrong miles on each contract, and so they will charge everyone for going over miles. They show you the tiniest of tiny chips (the size of a grain of sand) and try to charge $100 for it. The car they gave us had a broken wiper fluid, I bought more fluid and poured it in, it drained right out the bottom. The shocks were completely destroyed, and the car bounced all over the road, while the doors squeaked. One light was broken. The employees are angry because they get yelled at all day long. The owner of this company will serve many lifetimes of trauma from their terrible karma, and I wouldn't be surprised if they serve a few years in prison as well.

There was only 1 person handling the reservations and had to wait for another 40mins. They have some nonsense auto insurance transfer fee of $5 per day even though I was covered by my credit card insurance. I asked them to explain what's this transfer fee but they said it is company policy but never gave justification! They are very adamant and not customer friendly at all. They just try to give one or the other reason and make you pay more. I witnessed almost 3 customers who were ahead of me, who argued about insurance charge issue. Their prices are cheap only online but when you take the car, the amount you pay will be almost the same or even more than some of the reputed rental companies like Thrifty, Alamo etc. These reputed rental companies are more transparent and straight forward with thier prices compared to the last minute, unpleasant surprises from this pathetic rental company.

I booked rental car through Priceline and I also bought insurance when I was booking, still when I reached to pick up a car the person at the register added another insurance in the bill. They have hidden charges and different terms and conditions compare to other rental companies. They charged me service charges after a month of service. At the front they offer cheap price to attract customer but at the end it will end in most expensive rental service. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL !!!

Listen to every review and do not rent from here. If you use Expedia or Booking.com or another app and get duped into this place, complain to them. This rental place is not a legitimately run business. They go under Economy Car Rental but operate under Jet Rentals. They will force you to buy their insurance which you will not need if you have coverage. We did not receive the car we originally booked and they gave us an older Nissen Rogue with over 137,000 kms. Every warning malfunction light came on and we were scared to drive it. It made noises and the car was in obvious need of repairs. The registration sticker was expired and I'm quite sure the car was not registered or licensed to be on the roads. They will hold you hostage because you will be forced to use their shuttle service to get from or to the airport. We witnessed every customer in that place being very upset. One woman left and told us "never rent from here". I've never experienced anything like this, especially in Canada. Toronto is a world class city and if this is a visitor's first impression of the city, it is awful. No staff wore masks during the height of COVID-19 and I am 100% certain they did not clean the car to follow COVID-19 protocols. How they are still in business is beyond me. Do not, do not, use this car rental company. You will regret it and it will cost you money. They buy used, junk cars, and rent them out as a regularly run car rental establishment would. Completely unacceptable! Run far and fast from this establishment. Completely stressed me out for our whole trip.

Called waited 20 minutes no shuttle called again, another 20 minutes nothing, called a third time looking for a manager and the shuttle hauled in… Got to the building in line a hour waiting for the car!! Got the car got over charged. ( dealing with Hotwire about this ). Also car wasn’t even full of gas!! Brought the car back cleaner than when I picked it up, there was ketchup in between the front seats… Anyway brought the car back and thay said they was charging me $130 for smoking! I don’t even smoke, was the bag of weed I had they were smelling, I didn’t have time to argue…. Then I had to get a Uber to the airport as the shuttle was nowhere to be seen… This is my second time dealing with this company and there will not be a third! Place is a joke. Building needs a major overhaul as well. Total rip-off.

I made the big mistake of choosing this rental place solely on the fact that it was the cheapest. The customer service was terrible. We showed up and they were going back and forth with different customers, and they were very unorganized. Not to mention, they weren’t very polite. I booked off of Expedia which told me I had unlimited mileage (I even showed them) and they gave me a limit of 3000, telling me it was normal across all rental companies. I understand 3000 seems like a lot, but if you’re travelling across the province 3000 comes quickly! They also charge you $5/day to use your own insurance, which I find absolutely ridiculous. I had called ahead of time letting them know that my flight was changed so I’d be arriving 8 hours later. While on the phone with them they told me that the reservation is good until the end of the day. Unfortunately this isn’t true as another gentleman after me tried to pick up his car and they said that his reservation was only good for 2 hours, even though he had already paid for the vehicle. These guys also don’t do a walk around, so take many many photos! Lastly, the shuttle bus driver was extremely rude and drove like a maniac to the airport. I guess you can say I got what I paid for. So do yourself a favour and pay the extra money with bigger name companies!!!

You cannot waive their insurance without proof so make sure to bring that with you. Even after that, they’ll charge you $5 per day to use your own insurance just because. $10 per day for your spouse to drive using their own rental car insurance $30 to return a vehicle early The low advertised rate is meaningless after all the hidden charges. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE SCAMMERS!!!! Professional swindlers. Here's my experience with Economy-Rent-a-Car: I rented a car with them through Expedia. They didn't even own the specific car I booked - they tried to give me a worse option. I have bought insurance through Expedia over 20+ times with no issue. These criminals refused to let me take the car unless I switched over to their insurance. The car was advertised as unlimited kilometres. When I showed my Ontario driver's license, I was told that since I am a local resident (of Ontario), I don't qualify for unlimited kilometres - only 200km per day. Then, when I asked to cancel my booking, I was told I was not allowed to as I prepaid through Expedia. I left with no car. I will be contacting the Competition Bureau to report false advertising. This is by far, the worst customer service I have ever received. Please do yourself a favour and do not go with this trash company.

Be aware, the price only seems less when you book. The location is away from the airport and you have to shuttle over. When we arrived we were told that because we were later than the time we put in the app for pickup, we could have forfeited our prepaid rental?!? He was doing me a favour by going ahead with the rental and finding me an alternative vehicle. Yes, that is what you deal with at this company. Then they won't allow you to rent a vehicle unless you pay extra. They are creative in finding ways to charge an extra $100 here and $100 there. Once for insurance, another time to add a second driver (both are included with rental company's at the airport, usually with your own insurance or the insurance on your credit card). We read the fine print and brought our insurance papers with us to avoid the extra charges. So they charged a transfer fee to add our insurance to the rental car?!?! The actual vehicle was great, no problems with that. I recommend using a better known company that's at the airport instead of these guys, you won't actually save any money by going with this company.

If you ever needed to make sure to read ALL the terms, conditions, restrictions, etc, this is that time. You will discover: 1. Only non-Ontario residents get unlimited KM. 2. If you leave Ontario you lose unlimited KM. 3. If your credit card has insurance, it costs roughly $6/day to use it, payable at check-in. 4. If you are more than 1 hour late for your pickup time, they will cancel your reservation without refund. 5. DO NOT use toll roads. They charge a $50 fee for EVERY time you do. So if you use the 407 twice, they charge you an extra $100.00 plus the toll itself. Other things to prepare for: - They do not do interior cleaning after every rental. A quick tidy only. - They hold an additional $500 on your card upon pickup even for prepaid rentals. -They will not accept a card in any name other than the primary renter (not even your spouse). -They do not honor vehicle type "guarantees" and treat them as requests. Our experience: Our vehicle was a Nissan Rogue, 90,000KM. It was tidy, but not "clean". It had some computer issues that would cause the AWD system to give you a disconcerting "stop vehicle" warning at random times. We were able to narrow it down ourselves to a sensor issue and safely ignored it. We put close to 3500 KM on this car over 10 days and it didn't leave us stuck anywhere. The car functioned fine otherwise. Because I THOROUGHLY did my homework, none of the above check-in problems affected us, and we had basically a serviceable rental experience. Buyer beware for sure. If you know what you're getting into, the cheaper price might be worth it. If you are looking for the reliability and confidence that comes with the major rental agencies, this provider is definitely not for you. They get 3 stars because I knew what I was getting into and nothing too unexpected came up.

We got to the airport and called them to pick us up with the shuttle and found they were closed. Scammers all the way.. I rented a SUV for a round trip totaling 120 kilometers & 3 days, when I returned they said I needed to pay an additional $73.88. When I rented I told them I have insurance and don't need any more coverage. We finally agreed on $40 more than the $175 original quote. Then when they checked the car in they said the front windshield had a crack that was not there and the back bumper was hit on the passenger side. Both were there when I rented originally and when I told them this they basically said too bad and would not let me leave. Since I was from over 1,400 kilometers away I feel they took advantage of me, knowing I probably wouldn't be back again and certainly not after they jacked me out of an additional $40. When I contested this they basically told me to bad and was my fault for not notifying them when I rented which I did and the person told me "that is nothing major my friend, only big damage is important". I left and never returned to Canada after this. They can eat it.

Heaven forbid you're renting a car from here you will be pressed for outrageous fees, accused of damaging an already damaged car, and forced to pay money grab fees beyond what is polite to call a money grab, its just a scam. Really wish I could leave half a star. And they would only receive that much because they exist and I happened to get a car from them. But NEVER have I been SO grilled or questioned about my Insurance Policy when I stated that my coverage took care of Rentals. I had to go as far as calling my Insurance Broker to inform the man behind the counter that my Insurance was valid, and even STILL, had to get them to email me a copy of my ENTIRE policy. The man behind the counter was extremely rude, and should not be allowed to work in customer service of any kind. On top of this, on my drive home I received SEVERAL high beam flashes from behind. I thought maybe a tail light was out, or something, but no one pulled up beside to inform me. This morning, when I walked outside, I realized that they had in fact rented me a car with a QUEBEC license plate. Normally I would not care, but given the state of "lockdown" in Ontario, it seems strange to be renting out of province vehicles. When I called to inform them, the man on the phone simply laughed and said "it is a rental, just show people your rental receipt". In conclusion, I will be avoiding this place from now on, and judging by all the other negative reviews, so should you.

First, on the web site said Unlimited mileage and guess what? When you show up at the counter to pick up the car they open a policy with little tiny letter that says NO unlimited mileage. Second, the person that give me the car didn’t inspect it properly so didn’t I because I trusted them and guess what, when I returned it the person who received the car did inspected thoroughly and .... Surprise surprise, the car had a damage on the front bumper, very very low that you could only see if crawling underneath the car, what a coincidence….. and I’m 1000 percent sure It wasn’t me but, I still had to pay for it. In general it was a bad experience and here is why. I saw the reviews before bad reviews before hand but i decided to give the place a chance, and man I regret it ! So this is the airport location, so you shouldn't assume that the person booking the car has knowledge of the city. so i booked a big SUV over the internet and i received an email with a note suggesting that I should contact the place once i get to "Viscount". So one day before booking I called the store and asked what is Viscount, and the lady asked if I was at the airport. I said no, but i want to understand how to get the car. so she said just call us when you are the airport. i called the next day when i was at the airport and i was asked to go to Viscount and call again once i was there and again and I asked What on Earth is Viscount ?! the person on the phone kept say look for Viscount in the airport. so i kept asking people and it turned out that Viscount is a stop that I had to take through an internal airport train. once i arrived at viscount i kept calling Economy Rent a Car for 40 min and they weren't responding. someone eventually pick up the phone and they sent me a shuttle bus to pick me up to the location. Once i arrived i gave the person on the front desk my reservation number and he said we only have Corolla. I responded that i have booked my online, paid online for a big SUV because I have a big family and many suitcases and the person said "well, we don't have SUVs but i can give you 5% discount" and kept repeating that i have a big family and many suitcases. eventually i was given 15% discount and an extremely dirty corolla from the outside as long as the inside ! overall, i wouldn't recommend this place.

Booked a rental car through booking.com and flew into Toronto Pearson. Called the shuttle who took half an hour to arrive and pick us up. Once we arrived at the retal place the shuttle driver told us that they were closed and there was no car available for us. I have never had a worse experience with a company in my life!

Attention to the car your are taking! They usually give you a wet car so you are not able to see some scratches that the car could have. The waiting time to get your car is a bit long. Careful with toll fees, they charge you for extra $50 (plus taxes) on each toll that you pass through (completely unreal). At the end of the contract, the lower price was higher than the others company. I definitely would not recommend JetCar Rentals for anyone.

Absolute rip-off!! DO NOT RENT HERE! Expedia should drop them. Please everyone, check Google reviews and watch the CBC News/YouTube show. 1-1/2 hours in a disorganized, crowded room on pickup. The person who rented it to us pretended to mark down the paint chips, then on return they claimed 1was new and would not let us leave without paying$700. Would not let us see a manager either. Had my wife in the back of the shuttle for 30 minutes, and held up us and other people wanting to catch flights. I would recommend taking video of the person doing the review and pics of all damage before leaving the much too small lot. Terrible end to a great vacation. Considering legal action even though it will cost more than this, just to let them know they can't get away with this. Dirty inner windshield, leaking rear tire, burnt out signal light probably won't get addressed, nor will the paint chip. Good luck if you decide to rent here. Shame on you Economy rentals. Do their mother's know how they make their money?

If I could give less than 1 star I would. This place is the worst!. I set everything up for our vacation though booking.com. Including this place because everything says it is @ the airport. I locked in my rate for a midsize, everything was set. Until I got to airport to find it's not @ the airport at all, you have to get on a train the take a shuttle to get there. And the place looks a lot like the outside of a homeless shelter. But this was not the worst I was soon to discover. They had none of my rental info I'm their system. The rate was higher, they they put a $500.00 "hold" on my credit card. Then tried to con us into getting their daily insurance. When we decline, we had to show PROOF of of our insurance. Save yourself... Stay away from this place!!!!

!Warning! I booked a Car Rental through Expedia. When I Picked up the Car they added Charges! Big Charges. $5 a day even if have you have your own Insurance or purchasing it through a Credit Card. (After Review with Expedia on their platform in the Print it is "Optional". but when you get their they say it's mandatory and will not rent even if you have your own Insurance) Stay off the 407 they charged me an additional $50 admin cost on a $2.47 Toll Charge. They quote cheap prices on Expedia but scam you when you get to their. Stay Away.

I suggest people avoid this place. When renting a car last week they informed me of their company policy requiring me to pay an additional $12/day when I already have car rental insurance provided through my VISA card. I have NEVER been asked to pay a daily fee simply because I don't need to purchase their rental company insurance. Since I rented for 10 days, this added $120 to the rental that was NOT made clear when I rented through Expedia. I will register a complaint with Expedia and VISA.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Please save your time and money and spend it with an honest company. They have hidden fees, which no one reads and it is very misleading. The website I booked it with (Priceline) stated that it was unlimited kms and when I got there it was only 200 per day and on top of that they will charge for going with your own insurance. When I asked about what service are they providing for charging me for using my own insurance the person just said read the fine print. Very unprofessional and dishonest company. I end up walking away from this place without taking a car because for all I know there might have been more hidden costs in their fine prints that I did not want to take a chance. Out of all the places that went out of business during COVID I am very surprised that this place is still open. If I could give them a zero star I would! They just want to squeeze however much they can out of you so just spend another $20 and get a rental from a reputable company at the airport.

0/5 stars. Used Booking.com and didn't read the reviews in advance - rookie mistake. It seems like the best deal for a rental but they get your money in other ways. They insist on "proof" that your insurance covers you for a rental and credit card insurance isn't acceptable. They wanted us to email our insurance company to send us a letter stating that our policy covers car rentals....while there are 20 people in line behind us....all of whom are also surprised that they are being forced to buy additional insurance. Our rental doubled in price, naturally. We have rented many cars and NEVER been so ripped off. Also, this place is NOT at the airport, so good luck finding it. Plan to wait up to 3.5 hours to actually get your rental car. This place is a brutal rip off and these guys should be shut down.

My worst experience with car rental agency. Booked a car via Hotwire and the pickup instructions were useless. It took three phone calls before I was able to connect with Economy at YYZ airport. Finally advised to go to the Viscount station and call again. When I called again, no answer. Five calls later they answered and said they'd send a car to pick me up. 20 minute wait for the pickup car to arrive. Check in procedure very slow and they also had a $5.00 surcharge if you had your own private insurance! The car itself was fine but the rental process was very substandard. Similarly the drop off was slow and the shuttle back to the airport was another 15 minute wait. Not recommended. They won't get my business again.

Worst experience ever!! 1. Filthy car!! In covid times.... 2. On website 11 dollars advertised insurance! on site I was requested to pay 33 dollars per day. 3. I received the car with half a tank but they told me to bring the car back with full tank... 4. They ARE NOT in the Toronto Airport. I was helped by a guy from Six (lol) to find them (no signs, no nothing, not an answer from email or phone) ... at the end of the terminal a fixed phone -in the Airport- a code number has to be dialed... I was picked up by a shuttle to find my rented car after 40 min of waiting... 5. Not to mention the summer tires which the car was equipped with on December 2021.

Dont know where to start from.. they gave 132,000 km driven car with bad vipers, there was constant noise from rear wheels, keyless remote was useless had to press 10 to 12 times to lock or unlock. I highly recommend not to use their services.

Pretty much the worst place you can rent from. They will charge you an additional fee for using your own insurance. They will try to blame you for damages that were already there. There are additional fees which are buried deep in the terms and conditions. CBC MarketPlace did an investigation on them to reveal their less than stellar practices. Customer services is non existent. The cheap prices end up disappearing when they hit you with all the extra fees. Verdict : I would prefer to drag my balls across a kilometre of broken glass than to do business with them again.

I don't even know where to start with this place. If I could give it a 0 star I would. To describe it in one work I'd say "Unprofessional". To start off with this establishment has TERIBLE customer service. And they are very prejudice and discriminate against people of certain ethnic background. We came there first and left last. Clients who came after us were served and gone well before us. Even though we had already reserved the car before coming in. After the paperwork is finally done they made us wait for 20 minutes because they were "washing the car". Looked inside the garage but there was no car being washed. Ten minutes later they bring out a clumper of a Toyota (see pictures). This car had no business being on the road. They were ok with putting our lives in danger. Glad I took pictures. (dent in bumper, hood, rear left door left bottom fender, bumper detached from sides). Car has definitely been in a accident before and they've done a horrible job fixing it. It should not be on the road. And of course the car had definitely NOT been "washed". I understand why all the negative reviews about this place. Surprised this franchise hasn't revoked this location's permission to operate under their name. We need to petition to have this place closed before they cause serious injury or worse with their negligence in inspecting their vehicles prior to letting the public drive them. The agent serving us told us that insurance is $12 per day. We rented the car for 7 days so insurance total should of been no more than $100. But they end up charging $384 insurance + $500 deposit + $420 rental cost = $1300 off your credit card (for a clumper). Putting you over your limit without warning. When we asked for an explanation the gentleman behind the counter first tries to cover for his coworker who lied and told us $12/day, then throws her under the bus to save his own neck and tells us to contact his supervisor. I advise everyone to stay away from this death trap of a business. For your own safety.

The worst of the worst. We waited an hour to be picked up at the airport. When we got to the off airport office we waited another 45 min and they were washing the car when we went outside to pick it up. Many people were upset with the upselling the agents tried to do. I was prepared with my insurance documents as they will try to charge you extra for insurance. If you drive on the tollways they charge your card an extra $80. They take a $500 deposit and you don't get it back until 3 or 5 days later. Avoid this company at all costs. Rent a car at the airport.

Never Again! We booked a luxury car and paid extra in advanced for it and when arrived it was not available and they made no attempt to compensate even when we were down graded. They charge $5-10/day if you use your own insurance and $10/day for extra driver. We booked for unlimited mileage and when we got there they said local (meaning anyone with an Ontario license - and we live a 2 hr flight away) people can only drive 300k/day. They gave us the vehicle newly sprayed down (citing Covid) and told us to point out any dent or issues which cannot be seen when the car is wet. It was a gong show.

I would give them 0 stars if that was an option. They say that customer support is important to them yet I'm out $100. I attempted to make a reservation with them, (drawn in by the low prices) but at check-out the website told me there was a problem with my payment and it didn't go through. So I made a reservation elsewhere. I later found out they did in fact charge my credit card but just neglected to send me any sort of confirmation about it. I only noticed the charge on my statement weeks later. When I informed them of this, instead of just giving me a refund, they only refunded part of it and are keeping $100. I guess customer support isn't that important to them.

Needed a rental car. Walked in and was able to get one immediately. The staff was friendly and the gentleman who served me, after inquiring about how many Km's I might use, graciously extended extra courtesy by way of additional Km's and a discount on the additional driver daily fee. Every little bit helps!! The courtesy was appreciated. Upon return, the staff was quick and courteous. After a few long days of moving, it was nice to have painless car rental experiences. Unfortunately no stars is not an option. Booked a larger luxury car and paid an extra 50 in advance. They never made any attempt to reach us and notify us it was not available. When we got there they offered 32 in place for the extra 50 we paid....obviously unethical and cannot do simple math. The physical building is as dirty as their ethics. Before we got to the front of the counter to book out we saw two parties argue their hidden insurance cost policy....and then tried the same nonsense with us...with two kids and a 12 hour day of flight options are limited so took the substitute. The guy took ten minutes to bring the vehicle outside....it was a black vehicle and wet. I was asked to inspect the vehicle which you cannot see much of anything when wet. Guy tried to argue you could....I replied you cannot...I grew up in the car business and have a considerable amount more understanding than the clown I was speaking to. There were two small chips I picked up and they were marked down. When the vehicle dried you could see many smaller dents which could not be picked up....and so this was a concern for returning and their prior behaviour. Fortunately there was no incidental claim made against the vehicle based on the minor dents. After the garbage experience we looked up reviews and saw more of the same nonsense and complaints. Peace of mind is important to enjoy a vacation and these people wont give you that.

1st time ever reviewing a company....Ever...Not an honest company. They make try to nickel and dime you for extras to make money. Found them on Hotwire $9.49 a day before fees and taxes. That quickly turned into $31.66 a day and I declined insurance. But they force you to take an insurance for $5 a day which is "mandatory" still don't know how $9 + $5....gets to $32. Anyway, you better off getting a car from the other companies that are offering 19$ or $21 a day after fee and taxes...you'll end u around the same 32$ a day with unlimited km. Not 200 km a day. They very upfront to tell you "unlimited km for none local renters" but wouldn't tell u in same line locals get 200 km a day. I try to keep an open mind when dealing with companies with bad reviews, but this guy's earn it. I didn't touch on the supervisor that refused to extend my rental because I question the cost....he said "i am not going to extend anymore, just bring the car back today or I will charge you" to which I told him to go f himself and he replied "f you to" lol. was such experience I had to share and rate.....my extra day cost me $41, was discount from $69 ????

What a scam! first they took about half an hour to pick me up and had to call them 3 times then customer service was really unprofessional. Dirty smelly car, I even found a pair of socks in the front seat! seems cheap but there are hidden fees everywhere literally everywhere!!! The front desk rude guy told me I must pay a $500 dollar deposit for no reason or I could not have the car and no refund for the $250 I had already paid. To top it all, when I went to return the car they wanted to charge me for a mirror damage that was already there... REALLY? good thing I made a video when they first gave it to me. Absolutely do not use Economy for a car rental. August 24, 2021, we had a car reserved at Vancouver Airport. When we called they didn’t answer. We left a voicemail. They didn’t call back. Eventually we got through to someone. They had no record of our reservation and said they’d have the back office call us back. We’re still waiting for that call two weeks later. We then got through to someone else who said they did have the reservation but we were late so there’s no car for us. He said they keep cars reserved for 30 minutes only. It’s BS. How can 30 minutes suffice for a reservation at an airport?? It’s ridiculous. We got a car from another company. The guy there said Economy overbooks significantly and this happens often. Unlike other rental companies, this company does NOT include the cost of liability and collision insurance in their price......its why they show up as cheap. But if you want the car, you have to pay at their rate which DOUBLED the cost of our car. $50 admin fee for taking a toll road...money grab. Aggressive staff at the desk. Dirty car. I join the long line of people who thought that something booked thru Expedia was reputable. I reserved a van to get my son moved to the east coast (that part was great!) but we were given a dirty, stinky (smelling of smoke) Taurus, which I could not now refuse, as we had a trip planned out and needed to get going. As with others complaints, we did not get the unlimited mileage (which we needed) and were trapped into the "insurance transfer fee'. But the worst part is on the way back to Toronto, in a heat wave, the air conditioning didn't work!!! The trip home was torturous, and I had to extend an extra day because I had to keep stopping to air out and keep from falling asleep from the heat. I was told to call the Manager to complain, but I've been dialing all day and, of course, no one is picking up the phone....

Worst experience with renting a car, I made a reservation and paid through Expedia for unlimited km and opted out of rental insurance because I have my own , to my surprise on getting into their shabby office they were still trying to sell me insurance and wanted me to pay $5 for using my personal insurance, the guy at the front desk even went as far as telling me I’m only allowed 200km per day.I cancelled the reservation and am currently having trouble in getting my refund,avoid at all cost. Their fleet looks like old rusted used vehicles from auction, I even saw an old police cruiser there.

Additional daily fees to use a platinum card that provides full auto insurance/ damage collision. 2. Giving me the car on 1/4 tank. I ended up returning with 1/2 tank but no credit. If you're not going to give people credit for gas filled then at least provide a full tank! 3. Adding extra charges that weren't included in the quote for airport drop-off. The only problem, is that this location is NOT at the airport and i didn't even get an airport pickup or dropoff. 4. I rented in the middle of winter and only mid way through my rental did I discover there was no snow brush provided. 5. Waiting a long time before my car was ready. I got there on time for my reservation but waited a full hour before I was able to drive off. I think the number of bad reviews should be warning enough to avoid this place. I will never rent from them again.

Don't rent from here no matter how tempting the price is. I booked a car on a great deal. I scheduled my car for noon, but my flight into Toronto was delayed a few hours. I called to tell them and the guy said, "ya sure, no problem, when you get here is fine". Well, it wasn't fine because when I got there at 3 pm they told me that I was a no show and they didn't have a car for me, and refused to speak to me and told me there was nothing they could do for me. So don't forget that. * Beware Canadians: Prices in some of websites like carrentals.com etc are all in USD. Whereas you are paying total rent charge in CAD. It should be clear in the confirmation email. * The instructions for pick up is not clear. They have a shuttle but you need to call them and check where exactly they are going to pick you up. Every time you miss a shuttle, you will need to wait for the next one which is 15-20 mins away. * Unlimited milage does not include out of province travel. Make sure you are clear for the extra charge. * You need to purchase insurance coverage. If not, there is extra charge per day to use your personal insurance policy. Lower your expectations to minimum when dealing with this place. That way at least you won't be surprised.

I don't like writing negative reviews and I'm the first one to publicly praise businesses when they do the right thing (I have many five star reviews of fabulous service by others), but these guys pushed it too far. To recap: My aunt and my family rented a 12 seater van for the long weekend. My aunt rented it through Expedia and the issues were: 1.) in Expedia, it said the mileage was unlimited. Economy insisted on us "reading the fine print" and demanded we had a 750 km limit (we were going to Manitoulin Island so this was a problem). We ended up paying 140 dollars more as a result. On top of this, they insisted on charging 32% tax instead of something more sensible, explaining airport tax when we didn't even go to the airport. 2.) We told them about an issue with the stepper. It was cracked and falling out of place. They responded (on the day we rented the van) that "we don't care about the inside of the car." During the trip (in my family, we have members who are senior ladies), there were at least 4 "almost accidents" caused by the faulty, cracked stepper. We told them this on the day of return and they didn't even apologize or look at it with us. The guy at the counter just said "I'll look at it." 3.) And, most notably, my aunt asked for them to give her Expedia points and they simply repeated what she was saying to her and treated her like she had an IQ of 80. The issue was that because it was booked with Expedia, my aunt should have been entitled to those points (for the large amount for the rental, they should give her those points) but Expedia wrote my aunt saying that Economy didn't even bother giving Expedia their due for basically recommending Economy to my aunt. Expedia, I hope you read this and take these guys off your recommended rentals list. Their average star rating of 1.9 should be an indication. Bottom line, these are the things wrong with Economy: A.) They care more about nickel and dime-ing their customers than actually providing actual customer service. They don't care about their customers--they just care about the money they get. I don't like businesses that "count their money" in front of the customer and neglect basic things like safety, saying "we don't care about the inside of the vehicle" when it could cause accidents to the people who use it. B.) Please, as a public service, go rent somewhere else. The safety of your family is on the line. If they don't care about the safety of their customers, please don't spend your hard-earned money on them. Please treat your customers better, Economy. We can tell when you care about revenue first and the customer last.

You might think you are getting a good deal, but you are really just wasting your valuable time. The price quoted is not the actual price. I always use my own insurance when renting vehicles. Economy also lets you do this - "but charges an insurance transfer fee" that would have cost mean additional $126. No such fee exists in the real world of car rentals, only at economy. Can't stand dishonesty. Not only did I walk out without a car, so did the two people in front of me. GO ELSEWHERE!

I got a car wash on my way to the airport and my car was a little dirty also I had a couple bottles of water and an energy drink in the car that had 100% completely frozen over. The worst service, professionalism and interaction I have ever had with any company. Charged me almost 700$ for car insurance for 9 days rental. Unheard of. They also charged me 5 times the rate they had quoted me for an additional 3 days of rental. Do NOT rent from this company, ever. Total for 9 days rental 1,245$. Rented through Expedia and they did not say it was with this company but rather a company called FOX. Although I had been told by a previous rental company two years ago that I was covered by my Manitoba vehicle registration and licensing board, they refused to acknowledge that and told me they would have to speak to someone. It was before business hours in Manitoba so could not verify. I thought I was a savy traveller. The establishment was strewn with empty coffee cups, cigarette packages and generally unclean.

Then 5 minutes later I called them to cancel my reservation (especially since they did not have the SUV size that I wanted) and they said it was not possible and there is no refund. At the beginning I had good experience, BUT when I left the car I was told by staff that all my tickets and private road fee will be sent to my email so i can pay it by myself. After a while I got an email that I was charged for using private road 3.88 CAD and because company paid it for me thay changed me 75 CAD for that. When I spoke to the manager about it, he made me the guy who refused to pay and apparently I had to call to every place I was, and ask if I had any tickets and pay it before it reaches the economy office. When I tried to contacted private road and asked to pay for the rest of my trip they said it us impossible to do I need to wait for a letter which will be sent to the place of registration. Long story short. So me and friend booked a car , a month ago( to be paid at the counter) for Christmas holidays. So we were excited for this. ???? So we were supposed to pick our car at 7am , but we got late and went there by 830am. When we went there, they said “we don’t have your car available because you were one and half hour late”. On top of that , We didn’t receive any calls saying that it would be given to someone else ????if we could not make it 7am. So according to them only if the customer pays beforehand they will hold the car ???? , which is quite annoying, normally that’s not the case anywhere. This has been traumatic experience for us ( The only positive thing they did is dropping us off at the airport ) They did not even give us an option to upgrade to next available segment cars. Luckily , we headed to the airport and got our rental car for 200 bucks less than that of what we were supposed to pay here.????

It's amazing that this place is still in business. They used bait and switch to get customers in the door by offering unlimited KM but will inform you that it is not the case. They will FORCE you buy insurance even when not legally required. I did need to call them for a copy of the receipt. I got what I needed (which is why 2 stars) from them but I was put on hold for 15 minutes before calling back... Service was awful,... I remember thinking to myself, as I and the customer before me argued/ pleading with the attendant, I don't think it's reasonable to deceive people into paying for unrequested/ undesired services. First of all the local rental car in Toronto (Mississauga) did not answer their shuttle pick up line for a long time. Even their customer service agent tried calling and could not get connected. As a result we had to Uber to the agency from the airport. Second, the car they gave us had a cracked windshield, but we did not noticed because it was nighttime when we picked up the car. Third, when we were renting the car, we had asked if we could get a credit or refund because we were planning to bring the car one day earlier and they said that they would, however when we returned the car they refused to give us either a refund or a credit. The manager was totally useless and rude and even picked a fight with my husband. We will never ever rent from Economy and will never recommend them. Totally disappointed!!! RATING 0 STARS It seemed like the staff wasn't interested in looking after the customers. The line up kept getting longer. I was 2nd in line and it took almost an hour to get the car. The seats had grime smeared all over them. It was Sept and the carpet had a lot of dried salt from at least one winter. If you don't take their insurance policy they charge you a $5 penalty per day. I was on the Canadian web site and going to a Canadian location but the rates where in US$. There are a number of scams they pull on you once you are there and it is too late to go anywhere else.

If renting from this company, do your homework and come prepared. Make certain you can prove you have insurance. Bring a photocopy of your insurance policy if you have LDW coverage (third party liability). Ensure you have CDW (for any damage to the car and typically available through your credit card). You’ll be charged a few dollars each day if you do not use the insurance services they provide. Although quoted “unlimited mileage ”, this will likely not be the case when you pick up the car. Also, cars are not new. Inspect thoroughly and take photos of any damage before you drive off the lot.

Where do I start. When I called to get picked up by the shuttle, before I could explain myself I was told someone will be there to pick you up then he hung up the phone. I called back and was told they are having issues with the phones. When I got to the counter I was asked for my credit card and driver's license. I was then asked about insurance coverage to which I declined. I was asked for proof of my own insurance then I was told I will be charged $5 a day for declining their coverage eventhough I had a better coverage regardless these fees was not outlined anywhere else except for the counter ????. My credit card was returned and the guy at the counter told me someone is gone to get the car and that he would be right back. More than 10 mins later someone finally showed up with a wet car.???? I was so frustrated by this point as I had my wife and kids with me and the waiting area was dirty. I quickly did the inspection and left. A day later I called back as I couldn't find my driver's license I was told they had it and I could pick It up when I return the car. I booked this service through Expedia and I am really disappointed with the customer service or lack thereof. I would not recommend this to Anyone and really hope this option would be taken off Expedia as they really lower the standards I have come to expect form Expedia.

First advice stay clear of this car rental company. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. I would give them a 0/5 if that was an option. I used Expedia to rent the car and was directed to Fox car rentals. The shuttle picked us up and took us to Discount car rentals. I was billed under Jet Car Rental. When I asked for an address they gave me a business card labeled EZ airport parking. It appears they are operating under numerous company names, so be aware. This rental company has TERRIBLE customer service, rude and do not value the customer. The initial price is to lure you in. They will charge you $4.99 a day for Canadians and $11.99 a day for others to transfer your insurance, never heard of that before. They charge you a $500 holding fee but no reason as to why. The service is extremely slow, we waited for 45 minutes for our car and there was only one other couple there. During the walk around I mentioned that it is very dark and can't see any damages even if there were some. I had to document on the walk around form that it was too dark to physically see any damages. The car had a bad smell inside and was definitely not cleaned or sanitized as per Covid protocol. It felt as if we were about to lose a wheel when driving it as it made so much noise. Extremely poor maintained vehicle. When we were to drop off the vehicle we called at 6:30 AM and the individual answering the call mentioned that we could drop off the car. We dropped off the car at 6:50 and nothing was mentioned about a EARLY drop off fee. Apparently they call this drop off after hours. Most normal companies have a drop off box, but not here. Upon checking my Visa bill the next day there was a charge for $33.33 for EARLY drop off. Called the company with no success at all other than a shouting match. Never in all my time of renting a vehicle have I been charged for an early drop off fee. This company needs to be reported to the BBB.

DONT DO IT. ITS A SCAM! We booked a 12-seater sprinter van, unlimited mileage. When we got there, there was no van available and they were going to borrow the car still from another rental car company. We were about to take it but then they told us it was only 200km per day. We showed them our booking and they said, its unlimited with TERMS AND CONDITIONS?? Which was basically 200km, they would charge us per km after… HOW IS THAT UNLIMITED. Absolutely a scam.

If you have any interest of here? just get away from here. First of all, we have Ontario Drive License but there is drive distance limitation- 200km A day. However the truth is not- there should not any limit. Worst thing is they applied use 3day imsurance but only 2 day mile limitation 400km. It looks wired why they applied different days just for their benefit-not care anything about customers. To all traveler friends, please consider my small note & have a good day.

I would give this company and their staff Zero stars. Please avoid this company at all costs. We booked for unlimited mileage but it's not. There is a fine print where it says the rental company can do whatever they want. They gave us a defective vehicle where the wheel bearing was coming off on the highway so we turned around and brought the car back. We were told to take it or leave it. We wasted about 3 hours. Don't even understand how they are still in business. Extremely misleading information.

This was the state of the car I received from this place. The team inside are rude, they are not practicing social distancing or any form of sanitization standards inside the building let alone the car. I feel sorry for the other companies that are hiring through this place as I was led to believe I was hiring through Fox Rent A Car and have had nothing but pleasant experiences with them, however, this is by far the worst Car Rental Place I have been too. Avoid at all costs, don't waste your money, they even charge you an extra 5 dollars a day if you want to cover your own insurance instead of their own.

I wish you a better experience with this outfit than mine. There is no direction for off site car rental shuttle at the baggage area before the public parking garage. The number provided in the reservation is office hours only so it didn’t apply for me. Security told me to take the inter-terminal train to the end station and call for pickup from the intercom phone. There were about 30 people inside and out of the office when arrived. In line for 26+ minutes before getting served and meanwhile there were all kinds of yelling and cursing between the customers and the agents behind the counter partitions from hour long waits for their cars, wrong car type, dirty, and rude service. for me short one word answers and impatience agent. Unless you buy their insurance there is still a daily charge to use your own. They will only except the credit card deposit be the only driver or add a second driver for a daily fee. Without anyone mentioning I noticed the pickup time on my reservation equals the start time of the rental even though I spent almost 2 hours at their office waiting inline and waiting for my car. Then the answer was that’s how it works by company policy. I am sure overtime charge will apply if return late. Insufficient outside lighting made it very difficult for the departure check, take your own risks

Terrible experience. I had reserved a mini van and when I arrived at the airport at 9:30 pm and called, I was told that the only car available was a compact car. We needed room for 4 adults and one baby car seat so a compact wasn't an option. They offered me no assistance and told me they tried to call me which they didn't. Would never use them again.

Shady tactics- be prepared to pay a significant amount above the quoted rate. and they play lots of games. make sure you review every single contract carefully including the dates - the agent will be saying one date for return while deliberately writing a different return date just so they can charge you extra when the car is returned. Surprised such a business is allowed to operate near an airport like Pearson - the agents here are accustomed and comfortable in being rude with everyone - they are actually trained to cheat customers and let them yell and fight but refuse to budge. That is how they make money.

The worst car rental company I've ever been. You will lost the value of your money if you rent with JET Car Rental/Economy Car Rental. I was not given a vehicle that I booked/ordered for and they have lots of hidden fees. Don't waste your time renting with this company, go - find somewhere else! They should have been shut-down as they don't understand what a true "Customer Service" means. I REGRET RENTING WITH THIS COMPANY - HORRIBLE!

This is truly the worst experience I have had renting a car. The customer service was astonishingly poor to the point where it is laughable. No one would answer the phone when the shuttle did not arrive at the airport, check in took over an hour, they hung up on me after leaving me on hold for 15 minutes, the car was not fully fuelled and the charges for an additional day was ridiculous. I would pay double to never use this pathetic company again.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would do it in a heartbeat. Firstly when I was renting my car I was told I get unlimited mileage, when I get there, they tell me I only get 200km per day. I show them my email confirmation which clearly indicates MILEAGE:UNLIMITED. Yet, they tell me it is not unlimited. Then they tell me that the car I rented is not available. I took an uber to get there so they tell me another company will give me the car at the same rate. One of their employees says he will drive me to Viscount station where somebody else will pick me up. So we go there, and I waited 45 minutes for the next driver to pick me up. Nobody shows up... It has been a week and they haven't even refunded me for the car I was never even given. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

Scam artists, are trained not to rent the car for the attractive price you pay online without upselling you. I tried refusing their coverage and providing my own at the desk and was still not able to rent the car without the salesman trying to push coverage I did not need on me. Had to cancel my rental and their customer service doesn't refund either so now I'm hiring a lawyer.

Worst Rental Experience ever! - Complete Rip Off - Hidden Fees We rented a Dodge Charger or similar, they gave us a Nissan Rogue SUV. It was in bad condition even for a rental. Steering wheel controls were smashed and unusable, there was a build up for grime and dirt on the steering wheel and high touch points - meaning they do not clean their vehicles no matter what they say. Outside of the car looked like it had driven through the desert and just returned earlier that day. The SUV broke down when we reached our location - flat battery after travelling 250 kms. The car wasn't clean and I imagine was not sanitized. We found used masks, napkins and plastic cutlery in the car. There is Hidden charges, they charge extra if you have your own insurance or use your credit card for Rental insurance. I booked with Unlimited KMs through priceline and when I got to the location was limited to 200kms per day. The agent beside me dealing with another customer had his limit increased by 50km per day. The same deal was given to me eventhough I asked. I would rather walk barefoot over hot coals than rent from this agency again. Would leave 0 stars if that was an option.

Make sure if you do the own insurance part of the rental that you bring your insurance policy. It was the exact car we asked for and we were in and out within 20mins. Don't let all the bad reviews deter you, just need to do a little research before hand

Ask you to pay for insurance even if you already have it. Only give you the option of basic or premium without mentioning that your own insurance will cover it. Then charge you a fee if you use your own insurance. Then have you present proof of insurance (because we all carry that in our pockets) then charge you a hidden “standard” fee (that not all rental places charge so it’s not really standard). Then the price itself is also different from online, as well as the car selection.

I'd go into greater detail however I think what's better then a review is litigation with potentiality having that certified as a class action for unspecified damages. Learned a lesson to always do more research on rental companies prior to booking a trip. Regretted so much but it was already too late as I only realized how many bad reviews this company earned when we arrived at their store. Everything was so delayed and saw so many customers complaining/arguing with the staffs. Luckily nothing crazy happened to us for the 4-days rental. However, after 2 months since my trip, they emailed me and informed that they've charged my CC for toll and camera fee. On top of that, there is also a $50 service fee as they claimed this is charged for every ticket/toll/camera fee. I looked at the invoice they have provided and the toll/camera fees total to only $20 where the service fee is $50... I have no idea what service they've taken to pay a toll fee and how $50 was calculated. Please do not go with this company what so ever. Super frustrating and stressful experience even after 2 months of my trip.

Terrible I should have left when trying to pickup our vehicle 2 customer's in front of me Both complaining about the car they where giving. 1 had a nail in tire a few miles away flat tire After tire fixed he is had the vehicle for maybe 12 hours and it breaks down. He says he called them they said take to a garage and get fixed they would take care of the bill. I'm not sure of vomplete story but bottom line he was stuck with no help from them. 2nd customer was given a trrrible vehicle looked unsafe to drive. He wanted a different one he had to wait for hours. My exoerience wasn't any hetter Once back they try to find ways to bill more. Total scam artist Economy should not let them ooerate under their name I will.never use Economy again I rent alot of vehicle's but they lost my business I will be contacting Economy's head office see if this is a corporate attitude or just this facility.

Negative stars for sure. This place is terrible. Reviews don't lie and we should've read the reviews prior to booking with this rental company. They offer low prices up front, but there are so many hidden charges. Service is horrible. When we arrived at the rental place, all the clients were either not happy or having an argument with customer service. That's a big red flag. NEVER booking with this place again. How this place is still legit and running is a mystery to me.

Worst scam artist on the planet, they will try and advertise and get you to agree to one price then get ready to bend over when you return the car as all the hidden fees and scams come out. They will try and charge you fake maintenance fees, licensing fees, and worse of all try and pin damage that was already there on to you. Bring a copy of your car insurance or they charge you 30 to 40 bucks a day plus when you do provide your own insurance they charge you almost 5 dollars a day for transfer fee.... Booked unlimited mileage and was charged for going over by 2 km. Car was dirty. Send tank was full and was only half full. I would NOT rent again. Total money grab with all the fees.

The nastiest and worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my life. A guy who goes by “Shaun” which I guarantee isn’t even his real name was extremely rude and arrogant. He refused to except an international ID and even when we offered to switch it under the other persons ID and Credit card he still gave us a hard time. Also prior to this we had asked for an upgrade he said the upgrade from the premium SUV was the mini van. This place is absolute trash. I would give it zero stars if that were even an option. I’ve also had friends and family when I asked them about when they rented from here after my experience also complained.

We were quoted a price of $65 CAD online for a 2-day rental. Firstly, they gave us the wrong address to the place. When we asked about the correct address, the lady working there eloquently pointed at a piece of paper on the door with the address scribbled in. The shuttle provided was about 2 minutes away from disintegrating into a million pieces. Being a passenger in that van felt like re-entering Earth's atmosphere in a wooden crate. Once we arrived at the correct place, they re-quoted us $260 due to the Insurance and young driver's fees, even though these options were selected on the online booking site. The agent took 20 minutes to complete our booking, even though the details were all completed online. Once he told us the price, and realized how the company preys on those who do not have backup options, we walked away. The only positive about this place are the vast amounts of car rental places around this area. If you enjoy being charged $200 more than what you were quoted, this is the place for you. If you do not, then I would strongly consider a horse and carriage.

Money was charged, but after reaching, they told there is no car rental and I have to chase them and approach customer service for refund. Extremely disappointing place. Be careful of the cheap price. 1.They will add tons of extra charges and you will not know. 2: shuttle service is very poor. 3. There is an extra charge for dropping the car off hours. 4. I had a terrible experience. There was windshield chip that I did not spot while picking up the car. First trip to Canada and picked up the car in 430pm bit foggy and cold for a Texan like me. While returning the arrogant front desk guy spotted it and are attempting to charge me for that. 5. Pay few dollars more and pick up your rentals from the airport instead of this place. Cheap place could hurt your wallet in other ways.

not only did i have to take 2 taxis to get to this place, no shuttle and a change of address, but the bait and switch was in full swing as every transaction ahead of me was a fight....dragged the process on and on... so i had to pay five dollars a day just to use my own insurance (they had a makeshift sign on the counter and called it a policy), not disclosed on my orbitz agreement. the car had 3 tires with low air, the warning light was on when i received the car. there was no washer fluid, and the car was past due for service, a reminder kept popping up upon starting the car... the front tire should've been replaced as it was damaged from hitting a curb. the car kept veering to the right as it was a struggle just to keep the car going straight.... next month i am renting from a reputable place..... oh and i rented a full size car and got a hundai venue... tiny car... but at that point, i was just glad to get a car and get out of there..... NEVER AGAIN.....
