Hamad and Nikhil are by far the best customer service reps I've come across. The service was excellent. I rented a commercial 1 ton cube van from this location n I am extremely happy with the service. As long as I get the service like Hamad n Nikhil provided I'm a permanent customer.

Extremely rude and racist staff members. Repeated lied to us about the initial renting fee, attempted to obfuscate known damage to the Exquinox, which was not the car we reserved. Openly and slanderously accused us of damages that were not our fault. Even going so far as to use blatant attempts to intimidate us. Disgusting behaviour from a "well reputed" company. Will NEVER EVER be doing business again with these.... "People" again.

Worst experience I have ever had! Same as the previous review. I booked a car online, came to their place and they just told me 'sorry, we don't have a car for you, have a good day'. I was late to very important meeting 50km from Oakville and they even didn't bother to contact me in the morning so I could rearrange meeting/transportation! Never saw anything like this before!!!

Overcharged my credit card for extra kms, although I had unlimited kms , I called them and told them they said it was their mistake and they would refund it but almost a month later and still no refund.. wouldn't recommend .

The assistant manager was sooooo rude it was not normal. The idea of customer service doesn't exist in his manners. The manager and him each gave me different stories when I had asked about something and that tells you how easy it is to spot the lies. After I returned my vehicle they asked me about my experience and I said I would not recommend this place and they didn't even right it down on the paper to try and hide it.

I've done reservations with Discount a number of times in the past. Normally I do reservations from the Via rail location but the last 2 times they've moved it over to the Highbury location. I got charged an additional fee because I went over the km, I called for an explanation. They said it was on my online reservation but at no point did it mentioned that, nor did they mention it when I picked the car up from them. To their advantage I cant look up my reservation since I've already returned the car. I always get the economy and I've never been told there was a km cap The day of pickup the car was noticeably dirty, I asked if the car was disinfected, they assured me it was. I told them the car looked very dirty on the inside considering it got "disinfecte". The car was dusty, the plastic floor mat was dirty, the touch screen did not looked like it was wiped. The only clean part of the car was honestly the trunk. They were also going to charge me an extra day because they closed at 5 even though my reservation was to 930pm. Luckily the person I talk to on the phone prior to getting the car made a note saying it was ok for me to drop it off at my original reservation time. That is if it wasnt for that it would be one. I will be looking at the other companies in the city for my future honestly the only reason I gave 2 stars.

I will never rent from Discount again. Reserved a moving truck for my son 10am on August 1st. Waited outside in the heat for an HOUR before someone got to me - they were clearly not prioritizing those with existing reservations. Employee told us that I could return the truck after hours (because their business listing said they closed at 2pm... on a Saturday - lol) - but that if I did, I'd be responsible for any damages until they could check it in on Tuesday. Not ideal, but fine, if it came to that. He mentioned nothing else, and we finally drove off with the vehicle almost an hour and a half after my reservation, while family and friends were very patiently waiting for us to arrive. Rushed to move everything and return the vehicle before 2pm to avoid any potential issues with damage in the yard, and arrived back at Discount at 1:30pm... only to find a small hand-made sign on their door saying they closed at noon that we didn't notice the first time (and the employee didn't mention). We parked the vehicle and left the key in the dropbox. ~4-5 days later, I notice an extra $112 charge on my credit card. Called to find out what it was, and they said they charged me an extra day because I returned it after hours. What? Spoke with a manager, and told them that I never would have rented in the first place if the employee told me I'd be charged an extra day. After a long conversation about it, and her (Nicole) insisting there was nothing she could do several times, she said she'd look into a refund further and get back to me. Of course, she never got back to me. Called again this morning and got absolutely no where. After three mysterious "disconnects," Nicole absolutely refused to provide anything resembling good customer service. They refuse to refund the extra charge, despite it clearly being the fault of the employee for not informing us. Listen... if I was informed, there's no way I would've rented the vehicle... period. And if I chose to go ahead anyway, then I would absolutely recognize that the charge is on me and move on. But when you don't tell the customer and then just keep $112 of a security deposit with NO call or information whatsoever, that's theft, plain and simple. Discount had plenty of opportunities to do the right (and human) thing and refund the charge, but chose not to every single time. They could have provided great customer service and likely made a loyal customer out of me, but chose instead to do nothing. Checked the BBB and see that Discount was involved in a big investigation in 2018 about misleading business practices where they ended up paying a $700,000 penalty. They've clearly learned nothing from that and continue to mislead customers and steal money. Real classy :( Now I'm working on disputing the charge with my bank, but I'm not confident I'll get anywhere there either. Please save yourself the pain (and the money) and consider literally anywhere else when renting your vehicle.

The price goes up for some unclear reason at checkout, they try to increase $ 100 and the staff don't even apologize when they realize their mistake (attempted scam?). Not professional at all. (Original) À ÉVITER ABSOLUMENT !!! Ils nous disent la veille que les voitures réservées ne sont pas là. Avant ça, nous avions fait 3 appels téléphoniques differents, 3 prix différents pour la même demande. Le prix monte pour des raisons floues au moment de passer à la caisse, ils essayent d'augmenter de 100$ et le personnel ne s'excuse même pas quand ils se rendent compte de leur erreur (tentative d'arnaque?). Pas professionnel du tout.

Insurance company sent me to the "location" on Mayfield road; it does not exist (it is a Carstar collision) the nice folks at Carstar mentioned they have tried to contact Discount to request insurance companies update their location details; Discount does not want to bother. Note you will need to go to THIS location not the mayfield one

They picked me up from the body shop. Opened all doors for me! Car door, business door, even when I got into the car to drive away! The car was spotless and smelled great. the exterior detail guy missed a few spots but that was minor. Car was fully loaded luxury. Not a base model which is typical of enterprise rental. They posted a $350 security charge on my card. When I called them a couple of days later, they told me it would take a few days. When I called back 6 days later, they told me that they wouldn't be able to do it and I would have to call my bank to get it removed. I have been waiting 20 minutes on hold with my bank to speak with someone. NEVER EVER WOULD I USE DISCOUNT AGAIN. U-haul makes it so simple. Oh, and BTW, the truck was filthy.

I've rented from these guys a few times. If I'm lucky enough to get Mike, things go smoothly and the service is great. If I get to deal with Bianca, the service is ....well inexistent. Whenever you deal with her, she has a talent for making you feel as though you are bothering her and will try to avoid answering your questions or help you in any way if it takes any more effort than a "yes" or "no". I was attempting to rent a car on the weekend. She simply said "you can't". After a bit of prying, she finally agreed that I could rent it on a Friday and drop it off over the weekend (even if they are closed). I didn't end up renting because she quoted me almost 400$ but I find it too bad that such a reputable business would hire people who don't value their employment enough to want to represent it in a positive way.

Do not trust that you have a reservation even if they give you a confirmation. Horrible corporation to deal with, their website allows you to book vehicles that the locations don't have. They get 1 stars instead of 0 because the location attendant actually called to let me know and was apologetic. However in the end I now have to scramble to find a cube van otherwise cancel all the guys that were coming to help me move.

I used this company 2 times, the first time they tried double charging me for a light car. As in they said it was going to be 70$ per day but I had the receipt that stated 35 $ per day. So I caught that one. Next trip I took an suv for a higher price, but said i didnt want the added insurance because I upped my personal insurance to cover rentals. I check my bill statement on my credit card and it was 150$ over the rental agreement that I signed. I called and they just said that's what I had arranged and wouldn't refund me the added insurance I didn't want and an extra day charged because they are not open Saturdays so I was told to pick it up friday and "not to worry about the extra day, we wont charge for that". Absolute joke these people ripping off their customers.

Rented a Van on sunday. On way to toronto car ran out of Windshield fluid in middle of 401 highway. Due snow and mud on highway. we were completely blindfolded as we couldnt see anything. Had to take an emergency exit to gas station. Buy windshield fluid which costed us additional around $6.5 and we were late to the airport by 30 minutes just because of this. We payed around $160 for the rental and expected car has been checked thoroughly before handing it to customers.

The service quality is lower than expected. In my most recent visit, I had an argument in recognizing the fuel gauge with the representative Cameran. I believe she has a bit of problem in reading the gauge and if one goes there should be careful or get a car with a full tank. They usually give full tanks cars but this was not the case in my last visit. However, I accepted her diagnosis and told her that I will bring back the car with the same fuel level. I dropped the car the day after but she charged me for a 1/8 fuel cost when I was back at home. I was really surprised and took the bus returned to the branch sadly while it was 31 degree with 90% humidity. Still did not accept my complaint, the manager was not there and I took a picture of the fuel gauge to follow my complaint. My complaint was followed by a nice lady from higher level managements and my money was back after two days. I am giving this star just for this lady and not for the branch which made me in difficulty and wasted my time on that day.

Ryan was nice to deal with but the vehicle was a little disappointing. When you live in or are visiting extreme cold temperatures, I'd expect the vehicles so have some basics such as remote start standard. Additionally while the tank read full when I got it, there was no way it was as I only drove about 60 km and to fill it at the end I needed to put 20 liters into it. They need to do a better job at checking this because I shouldn't be on the hook for someone else's gas

We reserved a 16 foot moving truck with discount four weeks prior to our move. We received an email the night before moving day telling us everything was good to go and to pick it up at the south service road location at 1130. When we get there on moving day, they told us the truck was unavailable. Had a real moment of panic, but we're able to book with uhaul on the same day. Otherwise we would have been screwed. They offered us a 20 foot truck, which would have been way too big. It was clear no one cared about our problem, or about losing our business.

I was very surprised and happy to find a car rental location nearby in Kingston instead of having to drive to New Minas. Customer service is very friendly and efficient. Many places in the city don't have anything available right now with covid and summer madness but Kingston had one. Its located behind the Esso gas station which is very convenient when making sure you return the car full.

Rented cube van .. Oakville to London. It was filthy inside. Side mirror on drivers side had huge piece missing in the centre of it. Told us we were stuck with it and offered us 15% off. What a difference at the London location on Highbury Ave. where we dropped the truck off. They waved the ENTIRE COST of the rental and were astonished that the Oakville branch put this vehicle on the road in that condition.

Good staff. Busy location and they handle it well. Dropoffs are easy even afterhours, but the parking lot can get crammed. Good challenge for your driving skills though. 3 point turns, 6 point turns and sometimes just drive in and drop off the keys.

I feel like they do a good job for the resources they are provided. Discount seems to reserve and book more cars then they own!!! I recieved a vehicle in my class that I wanted but got a vehicle that turned out to be to small It was within the clas I got but but was the smallest one of the class possible. They were willing to upgrade me for free however there were no more vehicles avaible at any location! So the next time I rented from them they insured I was getting into a vehicle of my preference and even called in advance to ensure it was the correct vehicle for my needs :)

I've had a particularly unlucky year with my car & have been in need of a rental twice in the span of about 6 months...not only did the great people at Discount treat me amazing the first time earlier this year, but they also genuinely remembered me the second go around and hooked me up twice as good! Obviously it's not always under the most pleasant circumstances you need a rental vehicle, but they were so cheery & helpful, not to mention super efficient, it really brightened my day. The car provided had next to no tred on the tires. It got stuck immediately and when I called Discount Car & Truck Rentals they did not get back to me for two days. They were very unhelpful and the whole situation was stressful. It took 3 days to get the car unstuck and back and after everything they defended themselves saying that the tred was still legal, although the car was extremely unsafe. Good cars. Good rates. But the service has some issues, I requested for pick up two times when I had a booking and the driving was never on time. Once I had a booking for 1 30 and I called them around 10 and asked for a pick up at 1 15 so I can get the car at 1 30. I had to call them again at 1 30 to ask for the driver and driver reached at 1 45. The guy named Rob serves very slowly and takes too much time. First of all they brought me in late and then for the service I was just waiting forever while he was doing all the paper work and computer work slowly. This happened to me two times with the same guy for service. Its not a good customer service at all. Once their car had a significantly low tire pressure and I had to get air filed in to the car so it could be safe for my drive. I spent $5 on their car and when I told them the issue they didn't even compensate me(it was the same guy on that day as well)

I booked through Expedia, a 1 week rental with Ace Rent-a-car and it ended up sending me to Discount Car rental. The car was not ready for us when we arrived, and by the time we finally got it, 5 hours late, our plans for the day had been disrupted. Then they ignored the agreement we had with Expedia and overcharged us $200 for the vehicle. They promised to fix the billing as soon as we pointed this out when we picked up the car, and then they never made the change despite 3-4 phone calls and promised to 'look into it'. They never once phoned me back as they promised. It is also worth noting that the Expedia agreement was for unlimited km but the Discount people said it was for limited km. This did not matter for our trip, but there is a clear lack of responsibility and respect for contractual agreements. I travel a lot and rent cars many times in a year. This was among the worst experiences I have had. Never again.

They ruined our travel plans two consecutive times; while I reserved a minivan well in advance the guy simply said we don't have a minivan available! The second time, I reserved from ACE car rental through Expedia; didn't know this is a US company and discount rental is responsible for them as well. The guy said ACE is a third party company (as if he didn't care at all) and simply disregarded my rental confirmation again. Horrible company.

And it does not say you need to take the insurance if you don’t have your own. The guy at the counter explained everything and was nice and polite. He should get 5 stars. I cancelled the reservation. I had to make call number 6 to get an update which had them say too bad. You drove our car so you're paying. I explained AGAIN that I pre-paid using expedia.ca and they said they're unable to collect payment from expedia so they're charging me a second time and too bad, take it up with expedia... I cannot express how rude and what awful customer service this place has. I will honestly never use this place again. This is robbery. I intend to escalate this. Completely awful experience and poor customer service. Booked a full size via expedia and pre-paid. When I got there they gave me a compact instead. They had me for limited mileage, my booking stated unlimited. Had a bit of back/fourth until that was sorted out. Then, come time to return it and after much discussion on how I had pre-paid and them assuring me that I wouldn't get charged again, I was double charged! What really aggravates me is that I've called them 4x for this refund and each time they've told me that their system is down and they cannot process the refund. How are you open then and renting out cars if said system is always down? So I'm stuck now getting a runaround. Will never use this location again. They have left a sour taste in my mouth with the whole brand. I've never had any kind of problems with enterprise. It's always been in and out in 5 mins.

Following an accident, my insurance set me up with Discount for a rental vehicle while the details of replacing my own vehicle were worked out. Discount picked me up at home in an exceptionally reasonable amount of time (I did not have to wait) and provided me with a clean, comparable vehicle which I enjoyed driving. A follow up phone call was made by staff to ensure that I had no questions or concerns. This was very appreciated. I know of someone else with the same circumstances who also received a great vehicle and great service approximately a year ago. Holding true to their standards, I absolutely recommend Discount. I think at the very least I should have gotten a courtesy call telling me before I wasted my time and my money to get down there only to find out there was no car available. We’ve rented from discount for many years now and always get what we need. They are very busy in the summer so it’s best to call a few weeks ahead of time if possible. Great staff, always treated professionally. One point of criticism, location. The location is at a very weird area (due to the exit and entrance ramp to highway 3). You have to go around the block and if you miss your turn into the yard you have to go down a back alley, and the lot is kind of tight.

DO NOT rent a truck from this location!!! I got charged $1000 over what I was supposed to pay due to Cameron's incomplete inspection (simply walked around the truck, looked at it, and said "there are a few paint chips"). She even joked about "not knowing anything about trucks", and gave us a truck with broken mirrors, and a broken latch. We reported these as broken once we noticed them, but by that time, we had already signed the contract, trusting that Cameron had done a complete inspection. As first-time customers, we should not have to bear the burden of ensuring an employee is doing their job properly. Once we returned the truck, they kept our $350 deposit and took an additional $1000 due to the latch being broken without warning, even though we returned the truck exactly as it had been given to us. Mark, the manager at this location, was no help in this situation and spoke very disrespectfully over the phone when trying to remediate this situation - all we wanted was an open statement from the employee that she had missed the mirrors and latch during her inspection in order to not have to pay an extra $1350. We will never be renting from this company again due to this horrible experience.

This review is not for the car, but rather for the staff and this location. Beware. Enterprise Discount has been nothing short of rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful with our rental. Due to some damage on the car that we are at fault for, there has been no communication with myself and this office. They decided to not communicate with me and rather go through my husband when I am the one that rented the car. They took the car to the a repair shop without providing 3 quotes as we were requested to obtain by our insurance company. Not only that, but they have not returned my phone call in over 3 days and only seem to want to speak to my husband. At the end of the day, Greg, the "manager" should have contacted me directly as its my name on the rental, my name on the credit card that paid for it... No professional liability what so ever. From the second I walked in, I was not acknowledged by any one in the store, yet my husband was. I guess females aren't supposed to rent cars??? When we were in the store picking up the car, the only person that helped us was a woman named Karen. When I did get help, Karen said to me point-blank she doesn't work for the car side and works for the truck side....While I did mention that I had coverage through my personal auto insurance, I was not made aware of any additional coverage that could be purchased via. enterprise. As this was my first time in my life renting a car, I would expect that there should be possibly just a HINT of professional liability to go through what enterprise offers on a detailed basis. It is a car that we rented after all. I did my own research and discovered the small daily fee for cosmetic damages would have been a no-brainer... it is after all cheaper than many car insurance's deductible. Instead of communicating with myself, Enterprise took the car straight to the autobody and we are now being quoted over $1200 for 2 small dents that are on the car. They didn't even tell me this and I had to do some research to find where the car was to get the quoted amount above... Mistakes were made by myself for not going through the contract with a fine tooth comb, and we are fully taking responsibility for the dents... but at the end of the day I would expect that staff would take the 5 minutes to go over any additional coverage that was offered.

I have been renting my company trucks with this branch for over 3 years now. Adam & Kayla have been their from the begining. The new staff is also great! Everybody has been so friendly, professional & easy to deal with. I would never rent anywhere else! Kayla, the branch manager has helped me out of so many jams it's crazy! If i were to have anything negative to say, it would be 1 staff member named Nicole. She always seems grumpy, like she doesn't want to be at work. Very lazy & slow to get anything done. I usually try to wait till 1 of the other staff members are available to help me instead of Nicole. As long as Kayla is working I will always use Discount for my rental needs & will continue to refer everyone I know to the Highbury branch. Thanks guys!!

I called fours times throughout the weekend and all I ever heard was let me transfer you. No one wanted to help me, the phone # on this page is directed towards the reservation center. I simply wanted to confirm I could drop it off at a different location. On my last call I got a woman named Nicole. I told her I had work at 8:30am and needed to figure this out, she proceeded to say "okay let me put you on hold." I never said 'Yes', she kept me waiting for 20mins knowing I had to hang up at 8:30. I've rented 13 cars in the last 8 months and this is the worst experience I've had. I'm going back to Hertz and Enterprise, cost $10 more pre weekend but the customer service is incomparable.

I called and was on hold for over an hour because I wanted to rent a cube van and said I was going out of province and would be leaving the van in bc but the lady said that wasn't possible even though it says all over the website that one way trips is a service. I tried asking why it said all over the website that it was possible but she was telling me it was not and couldn't speak good enough English to get the point across and the call just ended in awkward silence. Will not be paying for services in the future and will rather use and company like u haul or enterprise because the service at discount car is awful.

Hubby was picked up by the pickup person from this location which was fine. When he arrived at the location to get his insurance covered rental they told him he had to pay 150$ deposit using a credit card or a 300$ deposit with debit - which he would have to wait 3-4 weeks to get back by cheque after the car was returned.. as a deposit for not filling up the gas and possibly parking tickets.. after calling me about it I tried to give them my credit card for it but nope they wouldn’t even take it over face time. 3 hours later he’s home with a rental he didn’t have to put any money down on from Enterprise! Thanks for nothing!

Watch out for hidden - "implied" - charges for windshield and tire coverage for which you did not agree and were never told about. I refused additional insurance when i signed for the vehicle but found it as a charge on my VISA a week later. Also make sure the vehicle has been completely filled with gas or you will pay for gas you did not use.

Despite having a CONFIRMED reservation, shows up to pick up the vehicle this morning only to find out they didn't have the mini van we rented and wouldn't rent us the GMC Yukon sitting on their lot as it was "reserved." Drive by on my way to return our rental to Budget and lo and behold, the Yukon was there and not rented. Customer service sucks and everyone should be aware that a confirmation with them does not mean anything! Would NEVER recommend this business.

I will never ever use them again. This branch’s management is very unprofessional in treating customers. They charged my international credit card multiple times for the deposit and there was something wrong with the POS machine which couldn’t connect and charge the card, caused the bank to block the card (bank thought it was fraud) and then said that i cannot take the car without the credit card despite booking online (no debit accepted and no cash) even though they were the reason my card was blocked. I had to go to Toronto on this day and they refused to give me the car I booked. Management was so rude and was not listening to the complaint. Even though they were the reason that I couldn’t use my credit card for a whole week. Never ever rent anything from this branch. Ended up renting from enterprise on this day as they were very understanding.

First off the value of the product is 5 star. However in light of current events (Covid 19) I was shocked to witness the manager remove 3 or 4 coffee cups and a handful of garbage from the cab. I was given the unit extremely dirty unit, example.... food on the floor, garage in the doors and last but definitely not least evidence of a sneeze on the steering wheel ( GROSS). As soon as I could I disinfected everything I contacted. Unless Discount changes there cleaning policies.... I do not recommend.

One star is actually too much, but the system does not allow me to go lower. Really bad service. I reserved a cargo van several weeks in advance but ended up with a bigger vehicle than ordered and needed, i.e. higher fuel consumption/costs, which adds up if you drive several hundred kms. A/C wasn't working which made for a pretty bad 4hr highway ride on a hot and sunny day. The person working at the checkout also tried to convince me that the free miles on the vehicle were only half than what my reservation actually said. I returned the vehicle at a different location (where the staff was great).

I rented a car from this location from 18-26 November 2017 after a not-at-fault accident took away my car for good. My insurance covered all expenses. Victor did all the paper work and assured me I will not have to pay any extra costs. I was told by him there is a $150 hold on my card that will be released upon the return of the car. I was not asked at any point if I agree with any extra insurance. I returned the car on 25 and called in Monday 27 to make sure everything was ok. Victor told me everything is ok and the $150 hold on my card has been released. A week later I discovered a $54 charge on my credit card. Discount never try to contact me about this charge and no receipt was provided to me. When I asked for an explanation I was provided with a document which Victor had me sign and initial to agree with extra insurance daily for the rental duration. Customers do not get a copy unless they ask for it. I have never agreed with that. He mislead me into signing, telling me not to worry and that I'll not have to pay anything. When I tried to contact the branch manager Michael I was told he's not there. I went there in person and still no luck. I was told he has no direct phone. So customers be aware of this kind of practice and read every document they ask you to sign. The letters are very small like size 6 or so. Bring an eye loupe and do NOT trust this people. Total disrespect for customers wish or need and making you feel like an idiot for trusting them. Thank you for the awful experience Discount Car and Truck Rental Upper James Hamilton.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever has from a car rental company. My truck was hit in a hit and run and I had to send it to the shop. I went to discount through my insurance company. It was the first time I ever use discount. They come pick me up and when we arrive they ask me if I'm okay with a small car. I immediately said no, and told them that I had a truck and I need a truck for my small business. They told me they had no trucks at their location. So they called their North Edmonton location and told them that I was on my way to switch the small car they gave me for a truck. So I took the car and drove from the West side location to the North side location. When I arrived no one was there and there was a note saying temporarily out of office. So I waited for about 30 minutes when the only employee there returned. I explained to her that I was sent there to switch my car with the truck. She had no idea what I was talking about and told me she had no trucks and wont have a truck until later that day. So I told her to call me when she does and Ill come in and switch. 2 days later and they haven't called. So I call the North location and she tells there are no trucks and she gives me the number for the main location. I call the main location and I spoke with the manager, Frank. I explained to him that my work has been very limited the passed 2 days without a truck, and that I absolutely need a truck by 1PM today the latest. This was at 9AM when I made the call. He told me they don't have any trucks at the moment but a customer will be returning one at noon, and he said he'll call me when it arrives. So I asked him if he had my number and he said yes. I then asked him what my number was and he gave me a number I've never heard of before. So I gave him my number and I began to anxiously wait. At 12 I didn't receive any calls. So i waited about a hour and a half thinking maybe he's busy. At 1:40PM I call the main location back only to find out that the manager had left and he will be back in 45 minutes. At 2:40 PM I called them back, I spoke with the manager and he told me that he gave my truck that was reserved for me at 12 Noon was given to another customer. Not only do I have to push all my work to next week, but I have o go pick up my wife from the airport in 1 hour and a half and I have to take a god damn cab that will fit her luggage because the small car they gave me is no where near enough. TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT USE DISCOUNT CAR RENTAL.

He did everything he could to find me a suitable vehicle to fit my needs. I have nothing but positive things to say about Cole. First time trying you guys out and pretty disappointed to say the least. Booked several days in advance online. Asked to extend hours during the confirmation call. Was told I was getting a call back to confirm whether you could shuffle things around (never heard back). Went at the original time the next day as you guys didn't confirm and the requested vehicle wasn't available. Was framed as an "upgrade" to get a larger size vehicle I didn't need and would have to pay more in gas to run (was driving high kms for a day rental). Was asked if somebody called me to notify me of the change/"upgrade" (which they didn't). Why am I being asked this instead of your employees being trained to take notes? Felt bad for the girl working as it seemed like the people I talked to on the phone before didn't take anything down and left her in the dark the next day. Stuff gets mixed up, it's cool if you don't always have the requested vehicle available but you guys need to fix your business processes so you're at least not wasting the customer's time when that happens.

I had a rental here for a few weeks in January. The rental was covered by two insurance claims. I denied their own "protection plan" because I wasn't paying for something I thought was a scam in the first place. A month after returning the vehicle I get a bill for $110 for the protection plan and $60 rental fee because I apparently returned it "late". How could I return it late when it's paid by two insurance claims? So I went in with the bill and was assured it would be "taken care of" and that I didn't sign for the Protection Plan. Several months go by I think it was all settled. WRONG!! Four months after the bill I get a charge on my credit card for the $110! Yes, they manually charged my card! After consulting with my CC company they tell me to go in and talk with them. I do and I get refunded around $47 for the Protection plan and the lady says she will straighten out the $60 for the rental. Weeks go by and nothing. I call my insurance company and they say they've talked to Discount and I will get the refund. Now over 8 months removed they have charged my card again manually except for $115!!! Even more than the original amount they fraudulently took!!! I have now cancelled my credit card and am calling the police to resolve this. I have NEVER been ROBBED before by a rental company. BEWARE! I have rented from other places in town and had great experiences. These guys are crooks.

Terrible customer service. I stated clearly, with 2 staff members on hand, that I NEEDED a truck rental. I was assured that a truck would be waiting for me on the day I NEEDED it. I called the day before to confirm everything, left a message and did not receive a call back. When I arrived, after driving over an hour from my home, no truck! They told me that they had no record of me asking for a truck and were completely unsympathetic to my situation. They did make a few phone calls to see if any trucks were available in the area, to no avail. I strongly feel they didn't value me as a customer and they showed absolutely no concern for the time and money they have cost me as a result of their mistake.

Worse experience of my life. Car was so dirty and i had throttle allergy due to smelly seats and carpet. Charge me extra 20 dollars on bill for using 407. Gas in car was not full and upon return at same gas level they charge me 23 dollars at gas name. Staff is extra smart to fool you. Never recommend this place to anybody for my whole life.

I have an account with enterprise, which have the same rates, and safer vehicles. I would never put someone’s life in danger with bald cheap tires in a snow storm like they have. I am a college student who had an exciting interview opportunity in a different town. Having issues with my vehicle i needed to rent something reliable. Being a student i didn't have the funds so my father in law was going to pay for it for me. Enterprise car rental said the driver and license had to match the name on the credit card, i had to have 2 utility bills(i live in an apartment, so only pay for power) and and and for my father in law to pay he had to drive 4 hours to lethbridge and sign with me in person. Luckily I found Dicount Car & Truck Rentals. They gave me a great price, and had no problem at all with my father in law paying over the phone. Very wonderful and friendly service! They even picked me up at my house so I didn't have to waste money on a cab. The Jeep Compass i drove was in amazing shape and very clean. Heather Jensen was my rep. Well the suv was very good but when they give qoutes on phone nothings mentioned about added insurance. And the insurance per day is $23.00 plus more the the actual cost of the original suv rental so the price doubles. On the world website there a section stating the most aloud to charge is the same as uhaul canada ???????? and or uhaul ???????? this is capped at $15.00 per day. So if the law states this. And there a lawyer or lawyers that know the direct rules in regards to insurance gouging when the actual vehicle is insurance 100% but the company is charging an extra 600% and keeping this this sum of money nothing going to insurance brokers .

I had a 5 day rental prebooked for June 26- July 1 - I also had email confirmation. when I arrived, the clerk said the computer showed my reservation was for the 27th - I showed her my email confirmation and she dismissed it/me!!!! she then called 2 other locations and at the beginning of each conversation, she intimated that I was in the wrong and again I showed my email confirmation. again, dismissed! she then called the manager, same conversation, same disrespect. then she told me to come back in an hour or so and maybe they would have a car for me. I said no, my reservation was for 4:30 not 6 pm!!!! I'd been booking through Discount for about 2 years and I'd never seen that clerk before - she was extremely rude to me, so, I told her to cancel the entire reservation and stormed out. I also sent a copy of the confirmation email to the manager who has NEVER reached out to me!!! I WILL NEVER RETURN TO DISCOUNT!!! I rented the next day through Enterprise and they are light years ahead of Discount in terms of process and professionalism. Enterprise will always get my business now!!

I should have been informed 2 things; but wasn't. 1st ...car stalled @ busy stop light. It wouldn't start until placing in park 5 minutes later with honking @ me even though trouble lights were flashing; while phoning your office and learning of a fuel inhansement feature ( told it shouldn't have stayed stalled when trying to restart. "An accident waiting to happen feature as far as I am concerned!" 2nd: Not informed which side gas tank is on + no lock feature.

The worst rental company I've ever dealt with, my partner smashed my car then left me for someone else leaving me with no car and still owing on the loan, my insurance company only paid for the rental for a week then the other 3 weeks I was paying out of pocket to rent a car while I was looking for a new vehicle. It took longer than I thought because I still owed on the existing loan. Not only was the car filthy inside but the staff at discount on Highbury is un organized and rude. I thought I had rented the car again for a week and it was due back Monday, it was actually due back Friday but that's my mistake. While I was at work the lady called me to tell me it was late and I told her I would be there after my shift. I ended up having to stay late because a co workers mother had passed and I covered her shift. I didn't get out if work till after the rental office was closed. I thought no big deal I'll go tomorrow. Then the next day I get a call telling me they were calling the authority's and claiming the vehicle as stolen. I originally intended to rent the car for the rest of the week since I had found a car I was going to purchase and just had to sign the paperwork and all the things that needed to be done before picking up the new car. The lady from discount informed me I was to return their car since I could not be contacted. However, each time she called I answered and there were no voicemails so other than the times I amswered they didn't even attempted to call, tell me how I can't be contacted. It's hard enough dealing with having to purchase a new vehicle and the added headache this company brings with the threats of police and refusing to rent for absolutely no reason, please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Bad Bad Bad Service I was told they have new management and new staff, the service now stinks, the staff are always in a bad mood and when I tried to book a truck with the new manager i was told to look somewhere else for one. Stay away from this place and go to Ryder for a truck!

I rented a cargo van from this location after a previous failed attempt to rent one from another discount location on the south end of Edmonton. There service was exceptional! Late at night I dropped off the cargo van and totally forgot to fill the gas tank (I know total blonde move). So after dropping the keys in the drop box here I am thinking OMG what am I going to do its 2.00/L to fill if left empty... So up and at them bright and early with only 4.5 hours sleep drove from Fort Saskatchewan all the way to the west side just to make it there before they opened at 8am. Soooooon as they opened I ran in and told them my story (feeling like a fool) and they let me fill it!!! I was so happy I offered to buy him a coffee and he politely declined. Needless to say for the price of this rental (28.00 to move), unlimited KM, exceptional service I will 100% go back to this location. Thank you to all staff!

It has been third time i got booked my rental car from Discount and as always i had great trip but it was very disturbing how my trip ended. last two time was wonderful never felt it so thanks to staff and people who helped me through .Renting a car literally felt as easy as getting the key and hit road but it wasn't same this time.i went on saturday evening between 3.15 to 3.30 and i met this individual"Nikhil" who i didn't find welcoming and warm it was quite ironic to me specially considering i am from customer service field too but I didnt pay too much attention as i was excited to go on my trip and then i went and had talk with him .i didnt get economy car that i booked for but instead i got luxury car which i appreciate but i was made felt i it was huge favour he (nikhil) did on me and i didn't like it. i was made feel like i am cheap . but i ignored and then i requested him if it is okay to drop car by 4.30 due to weather condition and without even thinking i get a blunt answer"NO" and he was concerned about was to charge me extra for one more day. so i left and came back around for so i can get extra grace time which was again suggested by him(nikhil) .so i got car and left for jasper and came back on tuesday 18th april 2017 at 4.20 and guess what? again no greeting and nothing being avoid it was him again(nikhil) busy talking on phone didn't care i am standing their waiting for him to be done. it felt unwanted and insulting.he finished all my inspecting work .i was fine until he called me back when i was leaving to say these words" I did half hour grace for you nobody will do it from next time" and i responded saying i requested due to road and traffic conditions but if they want they can charge me for it. i felt more insulted when he further told me that i didn't appreciate getting luxury car for cheap which originally i didn't ask for and then he said he doesnt wish more business and booking from me which just left me with rage and more disrespect.i told him customer"s business brings them paycheck but he asked if i pay for their entire location if not then he doesnt want to waste his time arguing with me. i am manager to in customer service industry but if you have managers like him(nikhil ) i am never coming back and your business will see downfall as he will drive away lots of customer .i still didnt believe that somebody has audacity to tell customer not to come back because i thought customers are king but i guess not for him.i am not big fan of targeting an individual but this i had to bring to your notice because you dont know if he has done this to other customers. there was another of your staff witnessing all this i wouldn't take time but he was quite in shame .but managers like this doesn't deserve to be there who doesn't care about the business but there personal ego who doesn't know happy customer are loyal customers.i would request you nothing but a drastic step so other dont have to face this disrespect i don't care about discounted rate and free upgrade but i care about my respect because it is hard earned. thank you for your time to read this .hope right is done to my feedback.

Above and Beyond! I had reserved a vehicle online with them on a Friday afternoon, I arrived on the Saturday morning sadly to find that they didn't have my vehicle I reserved. Needless to say I was pretty upset, but the staff were very courteous and accomodating and the store manager went above and beyond to ensure that it was not only a great experience from that point forward but was truly concerned about my future business which is truly refreshing. As it's one thing to fix a problem but another thing to make sure that I'm satisfied to the point that I want to continue to do business with discount in future, which I plan to rent again in a couple weeks! Keep up the great work!

(Translated) The car had not arrived on time. They had nothing similar to replace it (need a vehicle for the move). I had to leave for a week for work. After 4 hours sitting in a Tim Horton with no news, I decided to cancel the contract and contact Enterprise. I wasted my time and money on my job. I never received an escuse from the company although the lady at the counter was very nice. Once a complaint was made to the province (Discount), I received no compensation, because the company had offered me a replacement vehicle (a small vehicle .... to move objects ...). The experience was more hurtful than disturbing since everything was arranged with the good service of its competitor. (Original) La voiture n'était pas arrivé à temps. Ils n'avaient rien de similaire pour le remplacé (besoin d'un véhicule pour le déménagement). Je devais partir pour une semaine pour le travail. Après 4h assied dans un Tim Horton sans avoir de nouvelle, j'ai décidé d'annuler le contrat et de contacter Enterprise. J'ai perdu mon temps et l'argent en lien à mon emploi. J'ai jamais reçu d'escuse de la compagnie bien que la dame au contoir était bien gentille. Une fois une plainte mise à la province (Discount), je n'ai reçu aucune compensation, car la compagnie m'avait offerte un véhicule de remplacement (un petit véhicule.... pour déménager des objets...). L'expérience fut plus blessante que dérangeante puisque le tout s'est arrangé avec le bon service de son compétiteur.

Worst experience ever. Wish I never spent so much of my hard earned money there. Dirty cars, low on gas always, needed to take them in for services and waited for hours when they said they would make an appointment. Treated us terribly, after spending THOUSANDS with a business account. Horrible service. A few exceptions but if it's the same managers run to a different location. DO NOT GO HERE!

i was delighted to have the car rental service through this company..from the excellent staff assistance, to the the car choice offer, transport service and discussion regarding the rental agreement..i rented a suv twice, with the first rent lasted for a month..i had tire problem on the first car but at no time, i got a better replacement..staff are very accomodating, having some nice talk during my short visits in their office..a highly recommended company, don't hesitate to have their service..personally, i'll go back to them for the same service..spot on????????..

Usually good experience. This time i rented full size sedan ot was crysler 300c and first looking outside all beat up scratches and dent all over the car got me worried if i missed quick walk around the car before renting orry that they will charge me for the damaged that was there initially. I also did not receive the paper work when i drove off and realized that i didnt get anything from them that i rented that vehicle. Also when i got in the vehicle it was smelly like they spilled whole air freshner in the car and gave me a headache all day left me a choice to crank the full heat and open the window all day long. And inside was all sticky and dirty that i need to borrow lysol to wipe it off myself and even then the sticky stuff from the steering wheel didnt go away. Dirty damaged and smelly crysler 300 experience.

I had a rental car for 2 days with Discount (Upper James, Hamilton location) while my car was being repaired in February of 2019. It was set up with my insurance company as I had been in an accident. I returned the car, with no damage or outstanding tickets. The hold on my credit card was released. However, one full month later, Discount charged my credit card (why did they still have my card on file??) for the rental fee (almost $100). I called them and spoke to TARA MACLEOD who proceeded to tell me my insurance company didn’t cover the cost of the rental, so they charged my credit card. I do indeed have rental coverage so I asked why I wasn’t contacted by Discount, as a courtesy, before charging my visa, and why I wasn’t provided an invoice for the charge initially. I could have gone to my insurance company and cleared things up or I could have at least provided my consent to charge my card. Instead, a representative at Discount took it upon themself to charge my card without my consent or any notice. TARA MACLEOD did not apologize, however. Instead she told me they had a right to charge my card and didn’t have to ask for my consent! I asked to speak to her manager because I wasn’t happy about their procedures and she told me “um, no. I don’t think so, hun.” She was very rude to me on the phone and when I told her her customer service skills were atrocious she told me “the way you deal with customer service is atrocious”. I could hardly believe it. I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life by a customer service rep. I asked her again to speak to a manager and she said “NO”. She called me “hun” a few more times (even after I asked her not to), and hung up on me! Luckily she gave me her name. I would like to speak to a manager ASAP as TARA MACLEOD has no business dealing with customers.

we rent a car through car star till the fix our car and we forgot to take our GPS out before we return the rental car . We contacted the discount at Rymal road in Hamilton and they just say that they didn't find it in the car. I know we should have checked the car ourself but when you rent a car from a big company you think that they will help you in this situation .
