Reserved a compact (B) car through their website and it showed a price of 109.87 saying what you pay at the counter. I opened the receipt and all the fees and taxes were already included in those 109.87$. I get to the airport, and the lady (super nice and sweet btw, probably the only positive that I noted). So she’s telling me I reserved too late (1 day before) and that they didn’t have any B’s. She’s telling me I should pay 15$ extra to get a D car (Standard). I’m replying saying that I reserved thru Hertz’ official site and that it’s not my fault that they don’t have that car, so why should I pay. Apparently, I’m not a Gold member (which is an easy way to lose a customer but I stayed because I really needed a car. Just because I’m not gold I have to pay fees because THEY don’t have my car?) Anyhow that’s not the worst. My “what you pay at the counter” 110$ became 170$, with 15$ extra for another car and extra fees and taxes (?? I thought I already had those included ?). I showed her that my Hertz website receipt said I pay 110$ at the Counter, and ok 15$ extra for an upgrade. She’s like I don’t know why it says that all I know is you have to pay this amount (45$ difference is quite high for a 1 day rental). Very bad bait and switch, especially for foreigners who come here and have no choice but to pay for the car, regardless of the price they’re shown. And customer service wise I would’ve expected a sorry or something, nothing just a “I don’t know why our website says that”. Wasted over 50$ and time. I would not recommend this location specifically, unless you want to get scammed (I really needed the car so I had no choice but to pay). Good luck contesting this, their phone sends you somewhere to Eastern Asia and we can barely understand each other. No way to reach a manager. Disappointed.

The 2 stars are for a reason - if I could give none or negative I would. Be careful with the pickup and delivery of your car. The do not operate 24 hours! They should start at 7am in the morning, but really start well after 8am. Even if your are a "Gold" member they do not have staff available. My carefully planned tight schedule vanished. Called to the 1-800 no one to help me. They gave me the airport number. Called and when I said no one is at the gold booth, their reply was "really", gave me two more numbers to call, which landed again at the same airport counters where no one was picking up. Horrible experience with Hertz. This is the first one, but it seams it has to do with Montreal Airport Crew. I had to rent from Thrifty. Something that should have been 5 minutes turned into a more than an hour wait and then rental process. Steve @ Thrifty did manage to calm me down. He was nice and got me a good car. Him I give him 5 stars for his work, but that is Thrifty.

0 stars if I could. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the headaches and go with Enterprise. -Reserved a "standard car" eg. VW Jetta. Received a Kia forte which Hertz classifies as a "standard" size, which for Enterprise and Dollar considered a compact car. I could of paid less going with another car rental agency. 5mins wasted. - Rep told us the car was pre-checked for damage, but upon customer inspection, we found 3 areas of damage. Waist of time having to go to the lot and check myself, and then return back to the office to state that the car is damaged. 10 mins wasted. - Could'nt complete the inspection because the lower half of the car was too dirty covered in dirt and salt. Had the rep write on my bill "car was too dirty to complete inspection" so I wouldnt be liable for any damage in these areas. 5 mins wasted. Customers should receive a clean car. Complained to rep, and asked for another clean car on the lot - they said they couldn't do anything. 5 mins wasted. You cant provide me one of the clean cars in the lot???? I was baffled. Called customer service, they told us to fill out a form online. 10 mins wasted. Honestly the worst customer experience renting a car in my life. Im not a gold member but read the reviews and you will see how they even treat their gold members.

It was my only bad experience with Hertz. I am a Hertz Gold member and have rented from Hertz more than 5 times this year. When I arrived at this Hertz location, I was told that my reservation was cancelled. No reason, no explanation about who did it, just cancelled. I waited for at least 40 minutes to try to re-open a reservation and match the original rental rate. When I returned the car the next day, I got my receipt with CAD 25.71 as total due. However, the final amount on my credit card was USD 46.20 (CAD 53.62). I called Hertz and they said it was a penalty for driving too many miles.

De plus, le GPS est facturé 78€ max sur le site et facturé 98 sur place. Et en plus il a une fâcheuse tendance à se déconnecter quand tu cherches ta sortie. D'habitude je prenais AVIS , il y a des gps portables

Good customer service, hassle free rental. The prices were same as on the website just the exact vehicle was not available it said on the website the vehicle shown or similar is available and similar is what I got even after talking to customer support on the phone and confirming beforehand if the vehicle was available and they said it was(but 15 minutes later when I arrived it wasn't). Still the checkout was quick and the staff was nice so highly recommend this rental.

I rent here quite a few times a year (20+ /year) mainly for the quick service at the Gold counter and reasonable pricing. I had a $200+ surprise on my bill a few weeks ago for unpaid fuel, and I contacted Hertz corporate while sitting on my plane to get it corrected (assuming that the employee at the airport click off the wrong button). Hertz corporate wasn't too helpful, explaining that I needed to send a receipt for the fuel I purchased - easy enough, except my receipt showed ~$13, obviously not enough to cover a full tank of gas that they said was missing; given that I had only traveled ~100 kms (indicated on the receipt), the math didn't work so well for a full tank of gas, but the CSR wasn't interested in the explanation. As it happens, I received a Hertz survey the same or next day and responded with mostly positive comments, save, obviously, for the fuel mix-up. I was contacted several hours later by Nicole (I hope I caught your name correctly) from the location who had reviewed my e-mail and was able to quickly verify the details and correct things - many thanks, local staff!

Quand nous sommes arrivés, le véhicule n'était pas disponible et on nous en a donné un autre different de celui commandé, l'intérieur du véhicule sentait la marijuana, nous l'avons signalé afin d'éviter les problèmes. Le deux semaines passées, nous avons rendu le véhicule le 24.10.17 avant de prendre l'avion, 15 jours après être rentré en France, nous recevons un courrier de Hertz nous accusant d'avoir volé le véhicule et nous menaçant de poursuites judiciaires. Ils ont très drôles chez Hertz !!! Ils imaginent que nous avons rentré un véhicule de 1200Kg dans la soute d'un 787, à 10€ le kilo d'excédent de bagage chez Air France, il vaut mieux acheter une voiture en France Naturellement la caution de 385€ a été prélevée sur la CB, plus des frais de 34€ pour non restitution. Apres plusieurs mails et appels, nous recevons un courrier de Hertz disant qu'ils ont retrouvé le vehicule et qu'ils s'excusent pour ce désagrément. Cadeau final de la part de Hertz un remboursement de 30€ puis un prélèvement de 53€ supplémentaire. La suite de l'affaire, c'est "TRIBUNAL" Cette agence est à fuir, ne perdez pas votre argent chez ces incompétents et voleurs, allez plutôt à la concurrence. Une des choses que je regrette, est de ne pas avoir lu les avis sur cette agence avant de louer un véhicule.

First of all, I checked up the car which I rented because staff said that there is a shortage of staff. I took lots of photos of damages and recorded the car just in case for my evidence. I really didn't like it due to it is not my duty and I was exhausted after the flight. I went to the office at least three times and back to my car to check and ask about my rental car. The staff didn't know about the car. I never experienced before and I believe whether the staff is not enough it is not related to the customer. Second, there were many customers behind me but only one staff was there. The staff was struggling with it and it was totally not enough. Lots of customers complained and they looked angry. It is absolutely not professional service. I usually have a great experience with Hertz but this time was my worst experience with Hertz.

I am Gold member and have many years experiences in renting car with hertz. All my experiences are excellent except the montreal airport one this time. I reserved the car several months ago and was told that they could not satified me with my requested grade. They put me to Thrifty and DOWNGRADED my car to a smaller one. They gave me CAD50 coupon as compensation. I am really unsatisfied even they gave me this compensation. That is not the issue of money. 1. I insisted to be Hertz Loyal customer and gold members as I had excellent experiences and services with Hertz. So what is the point to be Gold Member!? 2. Cash coupon is useless to me as I have to book the car with Hertz within a year. I am not sure whether I can spend it. 3. To my experiences, cars rented with Thrifty is much cheaper than Hertz. However, not even they charged me the same price but even the higher one. I asked them the reason why they charged me higher. They said the calculation was wrong and charged me the same price as I reserved online. 4. Car is much dirty than Hertz to my past experiences. I WAS THINKING THAT THEY HAVE TO GIVE ME THE LOWER PRICE AS 1. THIS IS THRIFTY BUT NOT HERTZ. 2. THEY DOWNGRADED MY CAR. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES.

Disappointment ! I know this vehicle well and know that it is far from the comfort of an SUV. It is a fun car that has a nice look (convenient for TT or winter) but to make a lot of miles on well damaged roads in Canada it is comfortable. Tired of these steps and time lost we accept. Result: our friends who had the opportunity to ride in the back had a good backache on long trips and god know that the country is great! even for the driver comfort was almost absent .... nothing like a good leather training in an SUV chassis! Lors de notre arrivée ils nous ont attribué un véhicule type "mono space" qui est bien loin tu SUV réservé et payé. Nous prenons donc possession de la voiture mais après un bref tour du véhicule pour vérifier son état nous constatons qu'une visse est plantée dans le pneu avant... manque de chance. Retour au bureau afin de changer de véhicule, cela a déjà pris 45 minutes. A notre arrivée ils nous demandent de patienter sans nous donner de délais car aucune voiture n'est disponible dans notre catégorie. Nous patientons donc.... 30 minutes. Fatigué de cette situation nous leurs proposons de prendre une voiture plus petite et passerions faire un échange dans deux ou trois jours quand un véhicule de notre catégorie sera disponible. nous voilà enfin sorti de l'aéroport après 1h30 d'attente ! c'est parti pour 1h00 de route vers notre lieu de villégiature. Deux jours plus tard nous faisons le trajet jusque le bureau Hertz de l'aéroport pour espérer avoir notre voiture. La même personne nous reçois et nous dit qu'un seul véhicule est disponible !.... une Jeep Wrangler. Déception ! je connais bien ce véhicule et sais qu'il est loin du confort d'un SUV. C'est une voiture fun qui a un look sympa (pratique pour le TT ou l'hiver) mais pour faire beaucoup de kilomètres sur les routes bien abimées du Canada ce n'est confortable. Lassés de ces démarches et du temps perdu nous acceptons. Résultat : nos amis qui on eu l'occasion de monter à l'arrière ont eu un bon mal de dos sur les longs trajets et dieu sais que le pays est grand ! même pour le conducteur le confort était quasi absent.... rien de comparable avec un bon stage en cuir dans un châssis de SUV! Voila notre petite histoire. Ah oui j'oubliais, les conducteur additionnel n'est pas facturé lors de la réservation mais il le sera lors du retrait du véhicule. Ne prenez pas le GPS car il n'est pas mis à jour, beaucoup de détours et de perte de temps là aussi !!!!! Ce voyage à Montreal était le 11éme, nous sommes passé par toutes les compagnies de location de l'aéroport et même du centre ville et hors mis quelques délais d'attentes un peu long qui sont tout à fait tolérable en vue de la fréquentation touristique, nous n'avions jamais perdu autant de temps, d'argents et de frais additionnels ni vu d'incompétence ! Lors de notre arrivée deux couples étaient en train de s'expliquer quant à leur incompétence .... nous comprenons maintenant ! NE PASSEZ PAS PAR CE LOUEUR !!! UN CONSEIL .... LOUEZ AVIS! ils nous ont toujours proposé de bon véhicules et même surclassé. Chez eux le conducteur additionnel est gratuit si c'est votre conjoint!

Worst Hertz Experience ever! My husband is a gold member for many years now, but this has been so far the worst headache we ever had! A few months after returning the car we received an email from a company that represents hertz/thrift damages saying we had to pay almost $300 CAD because of our car damage. Very unfortunate and extremely bad experience at the YUL Hertz location. Could have been much better if the person I first met had some customer service manners and offers me a work around to the unfortunate issue I had or offers a suggestion. A lady who was also at the location jumped in very politely and tried hard to help. I am very grateful for her trying. As I was trying to get the document she was asking for, she had to go on a break and asked another coworker to assist me who was also very polite and tried to assist and made a few recommendations. Unfortunately I was unable to get the document they were looking for but that first person should not be in a customer facing position at all. Very rude, raised his voice, arrogant and kept jumping in and interrupting while talking to the other 2 wonderful agents. Hertz should do better. Update; I went to Enterprise and used the exact document to rent a car, they accepted it with no concerns what so ever. The official Service Ontario document clearly says "Your drivers licenses is VALID" but arrogance is stupid when it is one of your characters and shows your insecurity.

It was an absolute rip off and no one answers the phone when you need help. If you do the text option it doesn't work for Canada (...so why even offer it?) If I could rate 0 stars I would. The 1 star can go to the man who was working when we returned the car, who seemed to be pleasant, unlike his co-worker who kept refering to my out-of-country bank cards as pre-paid gift cards. As there is no Hertz car rental in Kingston, we went to a Canadian Tire store where they said it was not fixable because it had several plugs in it already. They said it needed to be replaced but we could just keep adding air until we returned to Mtl. This situation has become extremely frustrating because not only do we have to keep finding a garage to put air in every few hours, but Hertz has made it absolutely impossible to talk to anyone from Hertz. Their phone numbers that they give you are completely and utterly useless. I have spent several hours on hold and to this moment have not once had a phone answered. May be I am spoiled by other Hertz Gold service at other airport but the Hertz at YUL is manual shop. Did not get email notification about car pick-up. have to go and pick up keys from the counter! Haven't done that for a long time unless I am visiting really small town in the US. At least it wasn't too long a wait. The return process was slow. Had to wait a while until the attendant showed up. And then I asked for email receipt and haven't got it yet. Now have to go to Hertz website to grab it. May be I didn't speak the language... The midsize car I got was ok - essentially the basic model. No android auto or apple carplay.

We arrived at the gold customer service counter at the airport and the check in was fast and efficient. We had to upgrade to a larger suv than we had previously reserved online and this was done with out any issues. Upon our return the customer agent at vehicle returns was very friendly and helpful. When he saw that my wife was using a cane he quickly offered to drive us up to the departures terminal instead of her having to walk. Naturally one would not expect this as it would not be part of his job but he went above and beyond for us. When we arrived at departures he exited the vehicle , obtained a cart for our luggage and assisted us with loading the cart. This was way above and beyond what was his regular duties but he chose to assist without even being asked.

Gold was a bit different in that there were no names on a board as in the USA. However, the Gold stand did have my reservation and the car was more than adequate for me. As noted it had much fewer miles on it (8K) than the usual car I get in the states (average 25K with as high as 45K). Return was really great. The attendant drove us to the departure terminal rather than have us walk, which was nice since my wife has a bad hip. That alone was worth an extra star!

The Montreal hertz location is the worst location I've experienced. Both cars on my list rental were dirty and best up... I've been well pleased with Hertz stations in the USA and Europe.

This is a rubbish company. The one tire of the car that rented to me was slowly flatting. I specifically ran back to them and asked to change the car. They drove the car away for inspection. I waited for two hours and gave me the original car. I said it was repaired. When I drove to Quebec City 300 kilometers away, I found that the tires were still deflating slowly. I called them and said I would repair them myself and I would never rent their car again

This is the absolute best rental company in Montreal. I was so nervous, I never drove a SUV before. The members at Hertz rest assured me not to worry about a thing. Buyer beware! Dishonest dishonest! I'm a 2 decade gold member. I signed up for the manager special... A 250 dollar rental.. After I turned the car in the charged me 900 dollars for the rental. I called and they can't explain it or even find any of the paperwork. Oh yeah.. And they have yet to chief it 2 months later. Do not trust hertz deals!

Worse car company out there. As a frequent renter for business, I rented a car for a week and they tried blaming me on a dent that was already there. They charged me over $1100 and claim dept wouldn't return my calls. Not worth the trouble of doing business with them.
